Experiencia negativa: My little fur baby was very ill and after not much improvement over the week by a vet, I wanted a second opinion. Took my baby into this vet last Friday and asked to be seen. I was walked back to a room at the rear of the building. Discussed the situation for an exam and possibly euthanasia. The assistant took my girl to the vet. Brought her back in about 10 minutes and said "she was not that far along yet"! Never saw the vet. "Take her back to my other vet" . Showed me how to exit. My sweet girl passed away yesterday, Sunday at a local urgent care. She was in such a bad condition, emaciated that a blood panel could not be taken. The triage vet and her assistants showed so much empathy and did everything for us to the end of her little Fist Pet... What an uncaring, pitiful excuse of a animal hospital.

Experiencia negativa: I want her to get some antibiotics for my dog because he had a dental appointment in 3 days and I want to make sure there was no infection . The medication caused my dog to go on a seizure so I brought him straight back to the clinic the same doctor wasn't on staff. And the doctor on staff snapped at me"I'm going to need at least $1,000 before I even look at him cuz he's crashing"!? So I went to the VCA hospital on country club 24 hour they've taken good care of my dog named you before and they're awesome but the particular person on staff was very nasty. I have called ahead and couldn't get an answer and she claims that they didn't have any room for him! So I then took them to the emergency veterinary hospital in Gilbert and they went above and beyond taking care of him and I think they're awesome they deserve five stars & LOTS OF HUGGS & BLESSINGS ❗

Experiencia fantástica: I definitely recommend 1st Pet Veterinary Center should your pet need medical attention. They are so caring and kind - to both patient and parents. Not only do they have their emergency care but regular, routine office visits for vaccinations, etc. Just make an appointment. You and your fur baby will be happy you did.

Experiencia negativa: The staff are friendly and did what they could but this is my complaint: They took ~30 minutes to do any exams after being admitted for an emergency. Others waited longer and some people left. They did a general physical check, a pain injection, and an ultrasound, which took 20-40 minutes, for ~$400 which is not a terrible price. This is my biggest complaint; in total it took roughly 4 or more hours to have him discharged without a diagnosis. I highly recommend AVECCC ( Arizona Veterinary & Emergency Critical Care Center) for emergencies over this and Chandler Small Animal Clinic( CSAC) for regular checkups & non emergencies and San Tan Animal Hospital for surgeries. When I went there previously, AVECCC, they immediately saw and examined our dog and were able to diagnose and recommend or next course of action within an hour. CSAC are by far the most highly educated and experienced vets I've gone to and get to the problem instead of charging hundreds for useless exams.

Everyone there is knowledgeable, friendly, & caring of both our dog Larry and recently our cat Tigger. Larry just had his teeth cleaned and needed a couple of them pulled. So very pleased with what they did. I was called several times during the day with updates. A wonderful facility.

We were referred here by another vet and I have never regretted going to a vet more than I have this one. Horrific and traumatizing experience. Please head my warning! THEY WANT MONEY

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Sherman, did an ahhmazing job her calm presence put me at ease and same with my pup very through on the process she wanted to take with my boxer, he sustained an eye injury, told me of the steps she wanted to take to insure no internal damage was done to the eye. Took home some eye drops and an E collar. The techs that were here also did a fantastic job. I highly recommend 1st Pet Veterinary Center.

I am very grateful for this facility and would recommend them for emergency care. I will be returning as a primary care patient because I feel this place really cares about me and my pets. Experiencia fantástica: We've visited 1st Pet twice. Both of our visits were 'emergency' situations and the staff did an amazing job and reduced our stress immensely. They were caring and friendly with both us and our dog. The vets explained the test results, what they meant, and what our options were. The rest of the staff kept checking in with us and asking if we had any questions. My favorite thing about 1st Pet - they make pet comfort a priority! We consider our pets members of our family and the 1st Pet Staff treated them that way too! I definitely recommend them!

They almost always call to check in to see how Sunny is doing, even though I can’t always answer. They offered us snacks one time when we were there for a long time waiting. They try to get us in as soon as possible when it’s an urgent matter. They have been wonderful to us. I also love the techs and how much they love Sunny.

Experiencia negativa: We have been going to 1st Pet for 13 years. We have taken all our rescue dogs there.We took our Rottie there this Wed 11/12/25. It was NOT and emergency visit however so they could make money above the care of the pet they insisted they did not have any apts except for an emergency apt. So it was a flat 250.00 just for the visit without any care given. My dog was visibly swollen in the face and we had given him Benadryl for 1 day. The Vet and the Tech were not Rottie experienced and barely examined the dog. They stood back and would not approach the dog even though he is a very friendly dog and loves people. The wanted to take biopsies bloodwork, X-rays to the cost of $1600.00 dollars without trying more conservative options. We decided to get a 2nd opinion at another vet where the dog was given a steroids shot, they Paplated the dog, gave an ultrasound and steroids to take home for a cost of $160.00. They did not charge for an emergency visit, because it was not one. If I could give 1st Pet 0 stars I would. We had been going to the practice for years because of Dr. Lundgren, she started the practice but has since left. The practice is only interested in making money and not about caring or treating pets. If you want quality care and fair pricing please take your pet to Higley Animal Hospital. They actually try to find out the root cause of the issue. It is disgusting that 1st Pet puts profits over patient care.

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my Bella baby in. My hells Bells. My ol’ lady. My Bella mama. At nearly 15 years old, this girl gave me all of her love and amazing years. My ol’ lady was very sick. I had been cooking her meals for months because she wouldn’t eat dog food anymore, and slowly she stopped eating. It was selfish of me to have her go any longer. The whole office was so kind and sensitive. I had to bring my 8 year old son with me. Bella was my baby before my baby. She hardly barked, I think I only ever heard her bark maybe 4 times in her whole life. I love her so much. Thank you, 1st pet, for taking care of my baby. I will be getting her ashes back within the next few days. My girl will be back home, without pain, and in our hearts forever.

I'm truly grateful they told us about this place, not only did the staff member show compassion they were all so loving and very gentle with handling our little peewee.. All the questions we had they answered. This place is by far the best clinic I have been to for our furry little children.. I recommend this place to everyone..

Experiencia fantástica: I was beside myself watching our kitten's eye 'explode'. Especially since I had to take a family member to Mayo at the same time. Referred by our vet, 1st Pet took our info over the phone, processed me through, and laid out the charges. His doc spoke w me on the phone twice at length, fully knowledgable of the differential diagnoses and concerns medicating 4 pounds, answering all my questions. The techs were considerate and reportedly solicitous of our traumatized innocent, still wanting to play and be petted.

Experiencia fantástica: We brought our Great Dane in while he was in the beginning (and crucial) stage of BLOAT. He was seen immediately, received x rays and bloodwork and a full workup to see if he could be saved with surgery. Fortunately it was caught early and he was transported to their surgery hospital in Chandler. Both facilities took excellent care of him and he made a full recovery.

Experiencia fantástica: This is a great vetranary place. 1st experience was with a dog that was having heart failure. They did what they could to save her and we had to put her down. 2nd experience was with our current dog. He was having digestive issues. The facility the thoroughly evaluated him and made recommendations. They definitely did not push me to make any expensive choices. My wife and I chose some medicine and a stool evaluation. We both feel there recommended next steps were very good. Our dog responded great with the medicine and is doing well. The staff appears to be very well trained with handing your pets needs. I would highly recommend this place. I am sure we will be back and we are referring friends.

She had heart failure. I went to another Vet and the vet told me she was dying because of her heart What makes me.angry is I knew my dog needed.to be put down. The last week she suffered more than she needed to. If the Vet would have just listened to me

Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommend 1st Pet Vet. First rate. Our beloved elderly dog with a heart condition took a very sudden turn for the worse and needed to euthanized. It was an emergency. We called 1st Pet Vet. The person who answered the phone was understanding and informative. When we arrived, everyone on the staff was super responsive. They were so professional...and extremely kind. They were respectful and compassionate to our pet and to us. It really made a difference. I guess I should also add that their rates were extremely reasonable, especially considering the high level of attention and care we received.

Experiencia fantástica: Watson came in for boodwork to see how his kidney related levels have been doing this past Friday. The technician was very patient with Watson when she was trying to get his blood pressure reading. It did not take long for the bloodiest. Yesterday the vet called me and spent a lot of time talking about Watson's test results and the diet for dogs with elevated kidney levels.

Experiencia fantástica: I called for an appointment at 8:20 am and by 9:00 am we were in their office! Everyone we encountered was fantastic and my sweet little golden retriever got amazing care. Thank you to everyone we had contact with! I feel that it was money well spent and not overpriced especially for all the care received.

I liked that I had the option to do what was best for my family but yet still making sure piggy was taken care of. Thank you for your care and understanding.

They were so patient and caring for our dog and treated her amazingly! Dr Lunt was absolutely amazing! Very knowledgeable and helpful and made us feel welcomed!

Experiencia negativa: We we arrived at first pet veterinary at 440, with our small dog. We ended up not leaving till 7 o'clock. Almost 730 and they charges $250. Just for The Visit, they did 2 tests and it came out to $393. Good care way too expensive pricing.

Experiencia fantástica: I took my dog Daisy to 1st pet veterinary in Mesa. All staff and vets were supper nice from check in to check out. They took extra time and gave me meds to help my dog dry eyes. Explained everything to me and said she would have to be on long term meds for her eyes. I trust them with my dog and was so glad I took her there. Thank you to everyone that took great care of daisy. I will continue to take her back to them.

Experiencia negativa: I have been a loyal customer of 1st Pet for at least 10 years, but probably closer to 15, and I had the worst experience I have ever had. To preface, one of my three dogs has anxiety, and he is given meds before visits. He has to take them the night before the visit and then 2.5 hours before the visit. They barely do anything (he really hates the vet and manages to remain anxious and cranky during the appointment then crashes out for 24 hours after the visit), but he is prescribed them and we try them for every vet visit and fireworks demonstration (which they also do not work for, and he just shakes and cuddles close to the nearest warm body until the big booms end). A little before noon, my anxious dog hurt himself and was barely using his back legs. I, of course, called up my trusty vet and was offered a 1 o’clock appointment, which I gladly accepted. When I brought my dog in, I was taken back to a quiet room out of the way because they know he’s anxious. A few moments later, the vet tech entered the room and asked me if he had taken his meds. Between my phone call and the vet visit, it was probably 45 minutes. Even if I had thought to give him his meds, they would not be working by that point. I told her no, and she stated that because they are a fear free hospital, the vet could not see my dog until he was on his meds. I explained that his back legs are barely working and he is usually fine as long as he’s not around me (for his shots and check ups, they take him to the back and he’s always fine, he just wants to protect me and his “brothers”), and I even brought his muzzle if they thought it was necessary. She checked with the vet again who reiterated that I should come back at 7 after giving him his meds. I walked out and told them I’d take him somewhere else. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. What is the purpose of an urgent care visit (that starts at over a hundred dollars) if you can’t see an anxious dog? What if this had been a dog that had never been to 1st Pet before? Would they have turned him away and told them to come back later as well? If I had given him his meds and they hadn’t been working, as they usually don’t, then what? Continue to push the appointment until he magically heals on his own? They offered no other alternatives (such as sedating him, which I would have been fine with, perhaps even trying and seeing how he did, etc) other than coming back later. I get the feeling the vet just didn’t want to interrupt their lunch. Anyway, if anyone has recommendations for a good vet for three very spoiled dogs, I’d appreciate it.

Special thanks to Kenny (vet tech) who took care of my Dobie today. I keep their number on my fridge just in case. *** Just had to visit her again. Last Monday my pit bull got spooked by something and he ran at one of my Dobermans, then she ran at one of my other Dobermans, and he caught a tooth in his hind quarter. Tore a flap of skin loose, so brought him in, same deal, he was taken care of right away, 4 stitches, and he's doing fine. Good place for emergency visits. I didn't wait, my dog didn't wait, he was sedated right away so he was more comfortable.

Experiencia fantástica: We had an EXCELLENT experience with Dr. Lundgren & Michelle a few weeks ago. We have gone several times to all the locations for emergency services over the years and been very pleased and our pups have been extremely well cared for, but recently we went to a Rehab appt. for one of our dogs after a broken leg. Dr. Lundgren was incredibly helpful, friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, professional, and gave us the BEST vet care we have ever received (and we've had many over the last 35 years with 12 dogs)!! We were so impressed with Dr. Lundgren, Michelle, and the whole staff for taking the time to get to know our pup, connect with us, and really help us construct a healthy path of recovery for Lukie. Just a few weeks later, he is almost 100% back to normal and she helped us with diagnosing his arthritis which we didn't even realize he had at the time. That condition is MUCH improved as well and Luke's spirits are high again - thank you Dr. Lundgren from the bottom of our hearts for truly partnering with us! In addition, we were delighted to find out that they offer primary care as well, so we are transferring our 5 dogs!! Excellent job everyone!!

Experiencia fantástica: My 12 pound Yorkie had a close encounter with a Gila monster on my patio when I was letting her out before bed. The Gila monster was right at my back door so Lexi jumped on it. I am new to Arizona and didn't realize they are poisonous/venomous. I googled emergency vet for the one nearest to me. It was still 15 miles away but I took her in on Sunday morning. They did bloodwork and found venom in her blood. They kept her for about 12 hours on IV liquids and pain meds. I can’t say enough good things about them. They sent me her picture and the vet called me with updates. My baby is doing so much better now but it was a scary situation. Thank you, thank you to the wonderful staff at 1st Pets Mesa!

Experiencia fantástica: My dog was old and couldn’t walk anymore, we brought him in to cross over the rainbow bridge, The staff was so nice, & treated him with much love. We always choose this place for such a hard moment, They do an amazing job, & make sure your pet is loved till its last breath. They even have beautiful flowers they send home with your pet. (Also, if you have kiddos, they have little hearts you can send off with the pet..)

Experiencia fantástica: someone brought my buddy beans here after he got lost and got his face mangled. theyre expensive but they were very kind, very reassuring, and laid out all the options and best course of action for him while making sure he was safe and comfortable. at no point did i feel pressured or upsold, judged for declining anything, or while i scrambled to get payment covered. they took his busted eye out and fixed his jaw up, and during his recovery were available to call and answer any questions or concerns. i'm so grateful he's alive and home, and he is too ♡ the office and rooms are also very comfortable and clean.

It ended up being a critical care situation and our beloved dog was in pain, so we made the heartbreaking decision to compassionately euthanize our Marley. The office staff, vet assts/techs and veterinarian we saw were all absolutely wonderful. We could've spent thousands trying to save our furry family member but no amount of money can reverse age, cancer and failing kidneys. The doctor was honest and up front about her condition which showed the authenticity behind the care given. Someone from the practice even reached out to offer bereavement services, free of cost, after our loss. I can't say enough nice things about 1st Pet - Mesa, so I'll just say this: Thank you.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve taken all of my pets here over the years, and the care has always been exceptional. About five years ago, my 13-year-old dog was being treated by another vet for valley fever, but her health was rapidly declining. I brought her to Dr. Lingren, who carefully reevaluated her condition, adjusted her medications, and brought her back to health. I truly believe she saved her life. Another time, a newly adopted dog came home from the pound with kennel cough that turned into pneumonia. The team here acted quickly and effectively—they saved him, too. When my elderly dog was nearing the end of his life, the staff showed incredible compassion. They allowed us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes and welcomed our entire family, including our other dog, so we could be with him as he passed. They even gave us a beautiful card afterward and saved his favorite blanket for us to keep. The kindness, professionalism, and genuine care they’ve shown my animals—and my family—over the years is something I’ll always be grateful for.

Experiencia fantástica: Sadly we had to use 1st pets emergency services yesterday when our sweet little dog was attacked by another animal. Due to her injuries we had let her go. The staff at the Mesa office was so sweet and empathetic to our situation. We appreciated their gentle and sincere care during such a hard time for our family. They even placed flowers on her little box. We want to thank the staff for taking such good care of our Molly and us in her final moments.

Everyone from reception to the Dr and his tech, were SO incredibly nice and welcoming. Not to mention the rooms were like a puppy spa! Not a cold, drab clinical room. Experiencia negativa: Took my sick cat to this location on 04/25/25. They wanted to do all kinds of testing that would’ve cost astronomically. Do I love my pets, of course! But when the onset of their issue is suddenly, you don’t start going poking & proding around “guessing” at answers. Especially if the animal is not involved in an accident or an incident that caused injuries. The vet was stating things like cancer! My cat was sick for a day!! Not a growth that had formed over time or a tumor that rapidly metastasized. Sent us home with IV fluids, antibiotics, & 2 day supply of an anti inflammatory medication. Which was fine, then after reading the discharge orders made me pretty much feel like there was MAJOR concern of cancer! This was ridiculous! Ended up going to a different vet called, Lovet Pet Healthcare because as I had suspected an abscess. They treated us great! And the cost was more than half less of what this place wanted for diagnosis & TREATMENT. Also have a payment plan available for their lower cost care. The other issue with 1st Pet Vet is the veterinarian was “scared” to perform an aspiration but yet was willing to do all these tests on my cat? And rule out cancer! You have to poke the cat with a needle for a biopsy same thing as releasing pressure or the abscess with a needle. Make that make sense?!? Oh & this place charges $250 for an office visit! We should’ve called around more. Where I ended going only $75 for an office visit emergent or not. To sum it up my husband was precise in his opinion of this place, “They play on your emotions.” Which is exactly what they did, best advice take your pets to Lovet Pet Healthcare, you won’t be disappointed.

Experiencia fantástica: We had both our puppies in to 1st Pet Veterinary Center Mesa location for spaying and neutering. They kept us informed during the entire process. Let us know when they went into surgery and then when the surgeries were done and how they were both doing. When we picked them up they were so responsive and answered all of our questions and we had quite a few. I highly recommend 1st Pet Mesa for your pet’s needs. My puppies are very comfortable there and not at all afraid.

Experiencia negativa: I was an emergency walk in. My poor baby was suffering. They charged me 2k to eval, take X-rays and put her on fluids. I found my baby dead this morning. She ended up bleeding out. When I left the clinic yesterday there was no concern from any of the staff about my dog’s condition. She was supposed to make a full recovery. It’s apparent that they were wrong and they should’ve just told me the truth about my dogs condition so I could’ve put her down instead of finding her body this morning. Now I’m out 2k and my poor baby suffered all night and then died.

Experiencia negativa: Front desk lady was rude and slow. I feel like this place needs better customer service considering most people who come in here and sad/stressed/or have to drop a large amount of $$ and aren’t happy. The front desk is where customer service starts, hire people who have empathy and can read the room. The vets themselves were nice and understanding but it was very expensive and couldn’t even get decent empathy the second we walked in the door. Just laughing and taking their dandy old time while I’m crying over my animal and making snarky backhanded comments. Unprofessional.

Experiencia negativa: i found a stray cat that needed immediate help and was told to bring him here. they said that they could help him and once he recovers he would be put up for adoption thru the humane society.......well i found out that they put him down instead. if i would have known that i would have taken the cat somewhere else. edit: after reading the lame half hearted reply i have to give more context to show how despicable this place really is. the first place i took the stray cat to told me that he had an upper respiratory infection and that its treatable with antibiotics and an i.v. (because the cat was very dehydrated) and that it should take about a week for him to recover.....instead this vet decided to just kill the cat and not give it a chance to even live. they had asked me if i was going to take financial responsibility for the cats bills and i asked how much it was going to be. they couldnt tell me (or wouldnt). the price could have been anywhere from $1 to $1,000,000. so i declined and they said that once the cat recovered they would surrender it to the az humane society (which is a total lie) and i could adopt it from there if i wanted. turns out i never got the chance to do that. IF YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT ANIMALS, PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Experiencia fantástica: Loved my experience here! I was worried about all the reviews saying they only cared about money. But what they actually are is up front with transparent pricing. Every step of the way with my dog they let me know treatment options and the costs associated with those options. Last thing I’d want is to have treatment done then be blindsided with a massive bill. They were completely caring the entire time and even followed up with me the next day to see how my pup was doing.

From regular visits to surgery to physical therapy, we have been thru everything. We have been so impressed with the way they take care of our pups. Our one pup LOVES going to any visit due to the way she is treated. We can't imagine taking our fur babies anywhere else!

Experiencia negativa: Least helpful, money-first vet clinic. My dog had diarrhea. I brought in a stool sample. They shipped it out for 6 DAY processing! Then, 6 DAYS later, I find out they didn't even do the "diarrhea panel"! They only checked for parasites. So 6 days of suffering and worrying about whether to take him to ER for dehydration, and they didn't even do the obvious panels we needed! Go to Adobe instead. 1st pet clearly is more dedicated to managing reviews than helping pets and answering questions.

Experiencia fantástica: I cannot say enough good things about our experience at 1st Vet. Our dog of 17 years was declining and we took her in, unexpectedly. It was evening hours and unplanned, but when I called we were greeted with the most compassionate staff. We ended up at 1st Vet an hour later, and even though it was a devastating time, I could not have asked for a better experience in our girl crossing the Rainbow Bridge. The front desk staff were kind and compassionate. We had the MOST supportive staff walking us through the process, and providing support from the minute we walked in until we left. This was our first time having to say goodbye to a pet. We were not rushed, we were given everything we needed, all the time we needed. They went above and beyond in everything they did. I wish I remembered the name of the woman who stayed with us, I *believe* her name was Shannon. I just remember she wore glasses and had a flower clip in her hair the night of Feb 17. She was incredible, showed us photos of pets she had to say goodbye to as well, and was just so comforting. I will never forget the kindness she showed us during this difficult time. I am so grateful we chose 1st Vet. Highly recommend. Thank you for everything!

It's hard enough to do this and then to be told no..now our baby has to continue to suffer until Monday when our vet opens...no wonder people dump dogs!!

Experiencia negativa: We found two elderly Great Danes as strays running in the roads during a rainstorm. One was shaking badly when we found him. This vet turned us away and would not hold onto them while the owners were found.

Experiencia negativa: I am extremely disappointed with my experience. Months after my visit, I received an unexpected notice claiming that I owe upwards thousands of dollars due to a mistake they made in their billing. Instead of catching this at the time of service, they are now trying to hold me responsible for their incompetence. Not only is this completely unprofessional, but it also raises serious concerns about how they handle their finances and customer accounts. If they can’t properly bill their clients, how can anyone trust them with their pets' care? I would strongly caution anyone considering this clinic. Mistakes happen, but holding customers financially liable for your own errors is unacceptable. I will not be returning, and I urge others to be very careful when dealing with their billing department.

Experiencia fantástica: This was my third experience with 1st Pet over a period of 8 years and like the previous experiences, very positive. All staff: initial phone contact, reception/billing staff, vet tech and the vet, Dr. Begay, were highly professional and efficient. Care provided for my cat with an upper respiratory infection was excellent: medications provided worked, their application well demonstrated, and I received some very helpful post visit care tips from the vet tech. First class care all the way & thanks!

Experiencia fantástica: We became aware of 1st Pet after an emergency illness with our handsome rescue that got very sick. They were fabulous. We live over an hour away but they allowed visits, kept us informed. It took awhile to confirm Valley Fever but not once did they not give amazing care. He has had several emergencies since and every time he has been treated as the most important animal there. We use 1st Pet now for everything shots, general checkups etc. And the fantastic treatment doesn't just start with the Dr. It starts with the minute you walk in the door with the Reception area to the Tech that takes all the info to the Vet. Yes it is expensive but every Vet is. I wouldn't trade 1st Pet for anyone else. And I thank them every day for saving our special dog.

Experiencia fantástica: 1st Pet Vet Mesa is absolutely amazing! I recently found 1st Pet Vet for my fur baby Lola as we were looking for a new vet in the area. During her regular annual exam we found she had a UTI and they were quick to provide the care needed to cure the UTI. During the course of her treatment I noticed the antibiotics did not see to be working. I contacted them on Monday evening via text and immediately on Tuesday morning I had a response offering either an urgent care appointment that morning or a regular appointment on Friday. I opted for the urgent care appointment. During that appointment we found out she had bladder stones and scheduled surgery on Friday. They discharged us with instructions for care until the schedule surgery. Later that day Lola was experience additional symptoms. I contacted 1st Pet Vet and they had us come back immediately. In the short period of time of our morning appointment Lola was experiencing blockage from the bladder stones, which I was told if not treated could be fatal. They quickly scheduled emergency surgery to remove the blockage and additional stones. Within a few hours of the surgery I was able to bring Lola home. I am happy to report she is on the mend and back to her normal puppy self. Thank you to the staff at 1st Pet Vet Mesa for taking such great care of my fur baby. They truly care about the health of your pet! If you are looking for a team that is dedicated to you and your fur baby, I cannot recommend 1st Pet Vet Mesa enough.

Here I am weeping over my dying dog and they have zero empathy, sympathy…nothing. They just want their money without even giving me any kind of kindness for what I was going through. If I could do zero stars I would! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. RUDE AND UNEMPATHETIC STAFF.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog had gotten into a jumping cholla bush and a medium sized piece was stuck on his face. I called ahead to tell them we were coming in. The front desk got us in a room and the vet came in within 10-15 mins. Of course he had to stay and have a minor procedure under anesthesia. He came home a few hours later and is mending well. Thank you ! st pet vet for your good care of our beloved boy.

It really means a lot at this time of great loss. Murray was with us for 14 happy years! Thank you 1st Pet for always taking care of him.

Experiencia negativa: I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND this one to make any kind of diagnosis for a dog. I feel like we could've had better luck with a magic 8 ball. Additionally, we found the office support staff cold, and callous. Their fees and charges are also considerably higher than other clinics. I'm not sure how they can advertise as an emergency vet hospital, they are very limited in their diagnostic tools + close for the night at 11:59pm.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve had to bring my pets twice and every time they are fast and always great with my dogs. The vet techs were so nice to my Great Dane and made him feel safe. They cleaned out his wound on the ground with him to make him feel comfortable, even though I know it wasn’t comfortable for them. Today my puppy was euthanized because of genetic issues I was not aware of and the vet techs and veterinarian were so considerate and kind through the entire process.

Experiencia fantástica: We had a really great experience with this 1st Pet location. Our cat Sammie was experiencing some symptoms that definitely warranted an urgent visit. They got us right in, and the room was actually very nice and comforting. The Vet Tech came in very shortly after us and was extremely helpful and informative. The emergency vet Dr. Lindgren gave Sammie a thorough exam and offered several treatment options. He explained some of the more expensive tests but didn’t try to push us into getting them. In fact, he told us that they were really only necessary if the few things that she really needed (hydration, anti-nausea) didn’t help. Most importantly, they were very good with Sammie, and she seemed as calm as she could have been under the circumstances. We were very happy with the visit overall, and we plan to use this location as our regular vet from now on as well.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been bringing my cats here for almost a year. We’ve come for primary care and emergency visits. The schedule for primary care appointments has a huge range of times for weekdays so it’s easy to get my pets in when it fits my schedule. I have one cat that needs pre visit medications in order for the doctors to examine him and give shots. They give these meds complementary to help make sure your pet can get the care it needs. They move at my cats pace too, giving him lots of breaks, treats and pets. They have special cat rooms that are separate from the dogs which helps a lot too, I just wish those rooms had fish tanks like the dog rooms! My cats love the fishies! The emergency side gets you checked in fast and has your pet assessed asap. It runs just like a human emergency hospital, so if your pet’s injury/illness isn’t critical (which is a good thing!) you may have a little bit of a wait. One of my cats had to have x rays for a back injury which took a while but even on that most recent visit we were done in about 2.5 hours. Because of the anticipated wait, they even offered to let me drop him off so I could run errands! Each step of the way the techs and the doctor took time to explain everything and show me what they saw. They answered all of my questions and made sure I was comfortable with the treatment plan. Some of the prices do seem steep but I’ve been to a few other places that charged pretty much the same. I keep bringing my pets back because the quality of care has been consistent and well done.

Experiencia fantástica: This place was amazing for our time in need! My pup started having cluster seizures and after talking to my regular vet I called 1st Pet for emergency help. We showed up about 15 minutes after calling and they immediately took my dog back, had me wait in a private exam room and vet came out with a plan within less than 20 minutes. It was a really good experience in a moment of massive stress for my dog and I’d highly recommend for quick and efficient emergency help.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been taking my “kids” to 1st Vet Mesa for several years. My Yorkipoo Sammy was extremely sick about 3 years ago & he was admitted to the ICU. I was really scared of losing him. Dr Kreisler was amazing and kept me informed of Sam’s condition and his treatment plan. Sammy was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes & pancreatitis. He’s on insulin and doing amazing. He’s 10 years old and has the energy of a puppy. I’m so grateful to Dr Kreisler and the entire staff for not giving up on my baby. When we pull into the parking lot Sammy is so excited he can’t wait to get out of the car and into the office.

Experiencia fantástica: Our precious pup had her "spay" appointment earlier this week. The staff out front was incredibly considerate and demonstrated a "caring attitude". Of course we were nervous, however, Brandon made us feel Daisy would be well taken care of. He explained the procedure in detail and ensured we were "good to go". The Dr....performed the spay in a delicate and superb manner......Daisy was definitely in great hands with 1st Pet. She is now recovering and doing well. Thank you 1st Pet-----you folks are the best!

They get us in for appointments quickly. They even took my cat from my car during COVID to drain his bladder and didn't charge me. The staff are fabulous and upbeat. When I shopped around for a vet, I found their prices to be competitive. I've been a client for 3 years and am grateful for the wonderful emergency care they gave my kitty recently. They were quick with diagnostics! Thank you First Pet!

Also concern for owners is shown by keeping you apprised of what is being done with your pet or when they will be able to get to your pet. They have placards that describe the order of triage so you can assess where your situation resides in order of priority. It is a bit of a drive for me, but after the great experience I had with another of my dogs, I thought of them first when my elderly pup needed to be looked at quickly. I so appreciate everyone there and the care they showed my furbaby.

Even writing this months later the care they provided during our time of loss brings me to tears. They will be my vet of choice for my other dog.

Experiencia fantástica: I have had great recent experiences, both emergency and a regular appointment follow up, establishing a primary care doctor for my dog. The location is really easy to get to off 60. It is noticeably clean and relaxing as soon as you walk in the door. I love how they will get you straight in a room if possible. The rooms we have seen are very clean, have comfortable chairs and table for waiting. They also have a floor to ceiling window and crystal clear fish tanks built in to the walls. This is an employee owned company and it shows. We spoke to Judy on the phone and she also was at the front desk for both appointments. We had great experiences with both the emergency doctor, Dr. Meredith and the primary doctor, Dr Lundgren. At emergency I was able to call ahead and a room was waiting for us. The medical assistants were knowledgeable, professional, kind, and great with my dog. Dr Meredith diagnosed my dog fairly quickly with a physical examination and followed up with X-ray. We went home on 6 weeks bed rest and pain medication. I felt very prepared to take care of my dog. They also called the next morning to go over the medication again with me and it was a very qualified person they called. On our return appointment, 3 weeks later, Dr Lundgren was great with my dog, down on the floor with treats which I really appreciated. Again, the same great service and feeling that I had on the first appointment.

Experiencia negativa: Updated...Wow, how one doctor can completely undo a good review. My mom this morning took her extremely old blind deaf dog in to be put down. He was screaming in pain and she had been putting it off until she knew he was in pain. They had tried everything, she knew she couldn't put it off any longer. It was time. She took him here because her Clinic wasn't open yet. She brought him in at 7 am not realizing it wasn't 24 hours anymore but luckily they were open. The people there were wonderful, so nice! That was until the doctor came in. He was abrupt, cold and dismissive. Never talked to her. His only words were basically... 'so you're putting your dog down for Behavioral reasons.'My mom would never do that! How completely insensitive! He didn't talk to her, he didn't say anything else. He just was plain rude. My mom was already a crying mess and he made it worse by making her feel bad about a hard situation. Unbelievable how they can get to a postion of doctor with bedside manner like that! She already felt horrible having to put her dog down and then now she's shamed because it was time? He didn't even do enough research to understand the situation. There's no excuse for that behavior and we will not be back. This is where we've taken all our animals over the years. It's sad because everyone else at that hospital was absolutely wonderful and so nice. I guess times have changed and they're no longer the great resource they used to be. Beware who you get if you go there. They need to get rid of that doctor. There's no excuse for his bedside manner. Why would they even hire someone like that? I own a business also and treating your clients this way is a sure way to make your business go away. Previously.... Absolutely the best place to take your animal in an emergency. After a terrible experience at another place in Gilbert recently this place was a godsend. My 11 week old Great Pyrenees ingested some poison and I rushed her down. I absolutely love the people there. They are so nice and helpful and really try to calm you during difficult situations. My dog threw up in the car on the way over and the assistant/receptionist went out and even cleaned it up for us, way above and beyond what we expected. They have a brand new nicely appointed office and they even brought us a tray of snacks and juice in case we were hungry or thirsty as we waited. Sometimes it's the little stuff that makes the diffrrence. I loved the doctor. She inspired my trust immediately which is hard to do. You could tell she had the skill and expertise that was needed. The whole experience was quicker than going to my regular vet! Wow! Also, the cost was a lot less then the other emergency clinic I went to before. I was completely treated and out the door for less than the initial visit at the other place. This is my go-to place from now on with my animals. I highly recommend this place if you are ever in need. I went to the one that's by Southern and Higley.

Experiencia positiva: We had to euthanize our beloved dog Dutch. There was a social worker available to help us thru the process. Dutch became agitated and crying out when they were trying to start an IV I asked for sedation and think it should have been offered sooner. Before we decided to proceed with euthanasia the vet was great and gave us all the options. This is an incredible hard time for owner and staff. 1st Pet made it as smooth as possible. I highly recommend them for all pet care.

Everyone was remarkably kind and caring, and let us take our time saying goodbye to our old boy. But what really stood out to me was that a few days later, we received a card with handwritten notes of condolences from the staff. They had never seen us or our dog before, but it really made us feel like they cared about us and our loss. Thank you for taking a difficult, sad experience and making sure we all felt comfortable and cared for.

Experiencia fantástica: Clean, friendly, caring and compassionate. I absolutely love taking my dogs there! Some visits have been better than others (injuries with older pets are never fun and neither are their goodbyes) but you couldn't ask for a better team. My dogs have never once been overly nervous and any and all questions have always been answered. My cattle dogs have always been a little more apprehensive to the idea but my wolfdog greets everyone with affection... he doesn't even do that at home lol! What ever you are doing, keep doing it! We love you guys there, even on the bad days!
