Experiencia fantástica: Our 6 year-old male West Highland white terrier had TPLO surgery on his rear right leg in July 2025. We are SO THANKFUL FOR THE COMPASSION AND CARE provided by the staff at Colorado Canine Orthopedics. Surgeon Scot Swainson was extremely thorough, understanding, patient and compassionate (as was staff member Katie) throughout our visits leading up to our decision to move forward with this procedure. We had tragically lost our baby’s half-sister when she was 4 following a “routine” procedure at our local veterinarian’s office a couple of years prior so we were extremely apprehensive and nervous about general anesthesia. Both Dr. Swainson and Katie (a truly empathetic counselor for nervous pet parents!) put our minds at ease by telling us about and providing the option for a board-certified anesthesiologist from Peak Veterinary Anesthesia Services during our precious boy’s surgery. Everything went smoothly during the surgery and the post op follow-up communication has been nothing short of superb. Whenever we had any questions about the post op recovery process, medications, etc. Katie and other staff members spent whatever time we needed on the phone answering ALL of our questions and concerns. February 2026 was the 2nd TPLO/MCL/ACL surgery for our precious boy Sir Dominic! As before Sir Dominic and his parents were treated with EXCEPTIONAL COMPASSION & CARE!!! From the moment we were checked in on the morning of surgery by front desk caregiver Erin, to the timely follow-up from AJ, Veronica, Katie, Dr. Swainson & Kim (PEAK), we were always assured & comforted that Sir Dominic's progress was always being monitored with love and extreme professionalism and skill. COLORADO CANINE ORTHOPEDICS IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST OVERALL VETERINARY/SPECIALTY hospital/caregiver we've ever experienced!!!

Experiencia fantástica: My dog had TPLO surgery here in December. Dr. Iodence and the whole team there are top notch! The facilities are clean and consult rooms are very dog friendly (a mat, toys, doggy videos playing on-screen). The distractions helped my dog feel a little less anxious than she does at vet visits :) Dr. Iodence was informative about what to expect with the surgery and recovery, and the discharge instructions were very thorough. My dog just had her 8-week follow up exam and X-rays and has healed up perfectly! Thank you to CCOR for taking such good care of my fur baby and getting her back to living her best life!

Experiencia fantástica: This practice was excellent. We brought our 20lb dog here for his torn CCL. Everyone was so kind and on top of everything (I heard them talking with fluency about a few patients without needing to refer to charts). The surgeon (we saw Dr. Dent) gave us a great sense of what to expect, and met with us on discharge to give us a run down on how everything went. They provided very clear post-op instructions and made sure we had everything we needed for our little dude. We came from out of state at the recommendation of our local vet (some of their staff had had good experiences with Colorado Canine Ortho). They were very accommodating to that, reaching out ahead of time about anything that might preclude surgery so we could be sure we would be good to go given the drive, and doing a fast turnaround on a prescription for extra pain meds we requested so that it didn’t delay our drive back. Overall, they made a very stressful experience very smooth, and were worth the 10+ hours of driving, which is saying something!

We very much appreciate being given options for our dogs treatment and signs of things to look for as he gets older instead of trying to push for a surgery.

The surgeon gave us all the information necessary to ensure we knew every detail about the injury and surgery. We were provided with several options and able to get a surgery date quickly.

Dr. Dent has a very calming presence which I deeply appreciate as we navigate my dogs needs and his surgery. I’ve taken my dog Scooby there for both his hind leg TPLO surgeries and they’ve done an incredible job with him. He’s a nervous dog and they have special protocols which I appreciate. They take the time to explain everything and answer all my questions. I also love that Dr. Dent calls to follow up after, it really shows how much they care!

Colorado Canine Orthopedic surgeon had 5 possible procedures to repair the knee cap. 3. All of the staff were pleasant and kept us informed. 4. Experiencia fantástica: Used CCO at least 4 dozen times for my Great Pyrenees Rescue. Wouldn't even consider anyone else for ortho work on my XL breed dogs. Not the cheapest, but had an absolutely perfect end result EVERY single time!! Used several of the doctors there- they are all fantastic & have their own "specialties" in some areas. Can't say enough good about them. And Janice- she's the best.

I always appreciate him taking the time to talk with us and really make sure we find out what’s going on w our dog. The front desk are very kind as well. By far, the best experience at a vet we have ever had. Consistent, too - we only visit once every few years and it’s always the same experience. Very clean facility also. Thank you!!! ***We had to do an ACL/CCL surgery for our dog 5ish years ago, which is scary, intense, and expensive - they did a great job. Couldn’t have asked for better care. Wouldn’t be able to tell our dog had such an intense surgery - he’s happy and healthy.***

Experiencia fantástica: My chi mix was referred here by my regular vet for patella luxation surgery. Nothing you ever want to go through. But upon entering the facility the 1st time, we were greeted instantly by warm and hospitable staff that made you feel comfortable being there. Then, as I moved throughout the facility, I was impressed how clean it was: cleaner than many doctors offices I've seen. Dr. Swainson has great bedside manners and took the time to explain the problem and address any concerns we had. After the surgery, we were so impressed with the thoroughness of the discharge staff. She was kind, patient and explained the instructions as we walked through the written instructions in the discharge booklet made specifically for our girl. It was even personalized with her name and photo on the cover. This facility is top notch all the way, and I wouldn't trust any other to take care of my baby with these types of procedures. They were able to ease my mind on so many levels. And our girl is doing great. It's only been 3 days since her surgery, but I have hope for the long recovery ahead.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog Tig got hit by a car, and I contacted Canine Orthopedics from the ER next door inquiring about hip surgery. First of all, Dr. Dent walked over from Canine Ortho-despite his very busy schedule-and did a quick inventory of his wounds to see if immediate surgery was possibie. This was the first amazing thing I experienced. Then over the course of two weeks, Canine Ortho was in contact almost daily with information, inquiries as to Tig's health. Every time I had a question-whether it was online or on the phone-the nurses responded within minutes. I had lots of question's that first week, and Carina and/or Amy stayed on the phone to answer everything I asked and didn't hurry any conversations. They were there every step of the way. There was no question too long or inconvenient for them, and they would often stop and go ask Dr. Dent to get the best answer. I felt so safe and secure entrusting Tig to their care. Dr. Dent answered all my questions in the initial consult, and advised me based on my specific circumstances the very best route and went through-in detail- the pros and cons of every scenario. I left that consult knowing everything to expect and was able to make an educated decision for Tig based on all the knowledge Dr. Dent provided. The day of surgery, Dr. Dent again was completely thorough in explaining the procedure, going through x-rays, and answering all my questions-telling me each question was good and valid. Mae was so sweet and comforting as we turned Tig over to them for surgery, and I truly felt like they all wanted the very best for Tig and also for us. When we picked Tig up from surgery, they had a special folder with Tig's picture on it and a bag with a little tag picture containing everything we would ever need to make Tig comfortable and medicated after surgery. How cool! Sidenote worth mentioning: We had an unexpected situation with Tig getting diarrhea three days after surgery and I brought him in at 7am without an appt Monday morning because he had a mess all over his leg wrap and, I feared, on his wounds, All the ladies came out with gloves and everything they would need to clean Tig up and took him back right away without an appt. This was before work in the morning for me and I was super stressed, and they just took over immediately even though it was completely spur-of-the-moment. All these things are so above and beyond my highest expectations, and our experience continues to be positive as we navigate the after-surgery stress and everything it involves. I can't say enough about the kindness, compassion, and knowledge exhibited by everyone at Canine Orthopedics, and I would recommend this surgery center with my very highest praise to anyone who needs surgery for their dog.

Experiencia fantástica: I cannot say enough positive things about this clinic. My dog tore both of his CCLs, I went to my primary vet and was told he needed surgery and that they never do surgery on both knees at the same time, and they would have to schedule it for when their orthopedist was in. Upon a little research I found this group and I am so incredibly happy I did. The staff was so helpful and kind, very knowledgeable as well. Every time I called with a question anyone who answered the phone knew the answer. My dog is very nervous/anxious and not only did the staff treat him with kindness and love, they were also able to do surgery on both legs at the same time so he did not have to go back for surgery since he was so nervous (something I absolutely wanted from the second I found out his knees were in bad shape). And obviously any surgery is expensive but I was quoted more at my primary vet than here at the specialty group. And they gave us an active duty military discount! I literally cannot say enough good things!!!! We were seen by Dr. DeTora, he spent about 30 minutes in the room with us talking about our dogs x-rays and showing us what’s wrong on a huge screen in the room. He was super kind and understanding. He even suggested that we wait until our dog shows more signs of the injury as to not rush into surgery. He was also able to perform double TPLO surgery in under an hour, which is wonderful. He was amazing!!! Also huge shout out to all of the vet techs at the clinic. My dog, as I said, is extremely anxious and they were super understanding about it and cleaned him up when he was so anxious he eliminated all over the floor (so embarrassing). Another big shout out to all the schedulers and front desk workers who worked extra hard to find a time that worked for us before we moved. I hope we never have to see them again (obvs just want our baby to be healthy) but if we do, it will be a very happy visit. No matter how far we are, we will absolutely get any orthopedic surgery done at this clinic. Super up-to-date place and just an overall wonderful experience. I have suggested it to all of my girlfriends who are dog moms as well!!! Thank you Colorado Canine Orthopedics!!!!!!!

Experiencia negativa: My 15yo pup blew out his knee and needed surgery to repair. Received the estimate and scheduled the surgery. On the estimate, it states no deposit required. Go to drop off, I was told I needed to pay the min of the estimate. What? Scrambling to get that payment secured. They did work with me, which was greatly appreciated. I also understand the reasoning behind it. It was that I wasnt prepared. I also told them he didnt do well with a pain med and what did they provide for his pain the very med I told not to give him. They called to check in, on a Friday, to see if he was okay. I explained he will not eat. I was then told they would send a message to the doctor but he wont be in until Monday and if he still isn't eating we will see what the doctor recommends. WHAT?! Then proceeded to tell me it was from the surgery. Seriously? The anesthesia alone messes up their stomachs. He cant go 5 days without eating. Then I was told to incur another expense by going to an ER vet. Excuse me!!!!!! Are there no other vets to review the file and help? HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE FROM BEGINNING TO END.

The staff have been nothing but kind, thoughtful, and supportive — not just on surgery day, but throughout the entire recovery process. Their recovery protocol was incredibly thorough, and the support we were able to receive by phone, video, email, and text was amazing. No matter the question, they were always available to guide us and make sure we felt confident in every step of Kula’s rehabilitation. It was a 4-hour round trip drive for us, but absolutely worth it. The level of care, expertise, and compassion here is well beyond what we experienced with Kula's two other TPLO surgeries. Highly recommend Colorado Canine Orthopedics — truly worth the cost for the quality of care and peace of mind you’ll receive.

Experiencia fantástica: When an emergency happens with your fur baby it is the worst feeling ever!! Our 14 week old GSP had a terrible accident and fractured his femur. Sick to our stomachs and living in a small mountain town we had to wait and schedule an appointment for surgery. Thankfully, CCO was quick and responsive to our emergency situation. The day of surgery we were welcomed with open arms and the reassurance fur parents need when in this situation. Bedside manner is an understatement. Thank you to the entire staff and especially our doctor, Leah Hixon. We still have a ways to go with recovery but I truly believe McCovey will have the best possibility of a smooth recovery due to the conditional love and attention from this staff.

I am so happy that I chose to go through Colorado Canine. I don’t have enough positive things to share about this hospital. They are professional, accommodating, kind, and knowledgeable. My consult with Dr. Hixon was thorough with every step explained. AJ was very professional and has exceptional customer service skills. I was kept updated with my dog throughout the day, and my discharge with Erin was very well done. I drove 6 hours to the hospital and they were able to get the procedure done right away so I still had time to drive home. While bone surgery is a very intimidating process as well as a financial endeavor, I felt like I received exceptional care and really felt the VALUE of the surgery. They send you home with the cutest goodie bag of supplies and make the experience very personable. This is the place to go if you need orthopedic surgery!

Their staff reviewed Aurora's xrays and determined they did not see any bone deformation and referred us to a neurologist. If we ever need an ortho , Aurora will be coming back here.

Experiencia fantástica: So grateful this clinic was recommended to me. My dog has been experiencing lameness and pain. An ER vet thought it was a likely CCL tear. I live over an hour away from this clinic so I scheduled a same day consult/surgery. Dr. Hixon was able to quickly determine that my dog did not require surgery and had a groin strain rather than a CCL injury. She thoroughly explained things and made recommendations. Experiencia fantástica: Took out pup there to get checked out as it was recommended by our vet in Denver. Amazing staff, friendly, throughrough, and available for any questions/concerns via call/text. Dr. Lindsay Peterson was amazing, quick and efficient surgery, the staff took about 15/20 minutes to review discharge instructions with us so we felt comfortable taking our pup home. Dr. Peterson called same day to ensure we got back to Denver ok without any issues. If you live in the Denver metro area, or Colorado in general, this is the place to go! Experiencia fantástica: My dog Otis was in this past week for a consult and possible surgery with Dr. Dent. He had a hip dislocated (luxation) and because of his breed (Bernese Mtn Dog) and size as well as an autoimmune disorder he was a challenging case. Dr. Dent worked with us, explained everything, gave us a plan to try to heal and surgical options. It felt very clear, honest, and I knew he had our buddy's best interest at heart. I will only use CCO in the future if my big dogs have any ortho needs!

Experiencia negativa: -5 stars**** Such a disappointment!!! Apparently they only have one dr that specializes in front legs, so we had to wait over two weeks for our consultation. Then to find out we were going to have wait until April to see this same drs wife for ultrasound, who apparently only works a few days a week and she is the only one doing the ultrasounds!!! All from the mouth of Dr DeToras. We couldn’t schedule yet for April as the schedule had not been made according to the office staff! I asked what I should do to keep my dog from injuring himself further for the next 6 weeks while awaiting ultrasound, Dr DeToras said to use his Trazadone!! Umm NO! I am unsure how they are able to accommodate and offer same day on their website but we were asked to wait 6+ weeks to be seen for an ultrasound. I received a call today, one week after consultation to be told yet another excuse as to why our ultrasound had not been scheduled. So which is it? The schedule not being open and available for scheduling or a death in the family? Seemed to have many excuses. Needless to say, I decided to go with my intuition and we have decided to go with an office that seems better equipped to accommodate our needs. As this new practice has 3 drs on staff for front legs! Just realize the monopoly Dr DeToras and his wife have on this practice! Good thing we have other options as we have to be our pet’s advocate and I don’t trust either of the Dr DeToras! Rant over! Edit* This is my response to your reply. When I called I was told during scheduling that your practice only had one dr that specializes in front legs! Otherwise, she could have gotten us in the same week we called to schedule! Secondly, we were told on the day of appt with Dr Detoras that it would be 4-6 weeks for ultrasound as well as the front desk staff also confirmed that on two different conversations. Regardless of a death in the family, this delay for u/s does not seem unusual to the practice. Either way, you do not have the canines best interest, just your financial gains. Perhaps hire another ultrasound technician.

Experiencia fantástica: After my experience here, I found myself wondering why none of my human medical experiences have been this good. Like, when I was discharged from the hospital with a tiny new human to take home for the first time, why wasn’t I given a neat little discharge booklet with my baby’s face on it? Why do human waiting rooms not give you your own contained area with a plush bed? Seriously though, the professionalism and care has been top tier. Dr Swainson clearly knows his stuff, and everyone we’ve interacted with has treated me and my sweet girl with nothing but the utmost care and respect. So far my pup is recovering well, and the team at the office kindly answered my questions on a Saturday.

Experiencia fantástica: So grateful to find this place! My puppy fractured her elbow. The ER vet I saw fist wanted to amputate it and thankfully I got a second opinion here. They were able to fix the fracture. Everyone from the front end staff to the doctors were so kind and supportive. Best vet care I’ve experienced. They really care for each patient. Fair prices and a beautiful facility! Definitely recommend

Experiencia fantástica: My 5 month Frenchie puppy broke his elbow and he ended up needing surgery. Dr Swainson and his team were excellent and got him in within two days!! I can’t thank them enough and Gus is now recovering. Thank you everyone there, everyone was absolutely amazing and you can tell they absolutely care about their animals.

Experiencia fantástica: This wonderful group of people are 100% dedicated to helping your best friend. They helped us help our buddy Dean, and consistently went above and beyond for us after he was struck by a car. Thank you so much for everything y'all do!

Experiencia negativa: This place is a joke! Dr Ricks never called us to update my dog after the surgery and now his leg is infected and has to be operated on AGAIN! Avoid. Rip off artists.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff is very professional and caring. They really go the extra mile. From offering refreshments while you wait to answering any question you may have, they make you feel welcomed. At no point did I feel rushed or pushed into a situation. The consultation is very thorough and made me feel confident in proceeding with the surgery. They took great care of my dog while he was there. The care package and information they send you home with is amazing, so detailed. They go over all of it with you before you leave to ensure you feel comfortable and confident in the after surgery care. They even put his adorable picture on the packet and the bag. Such a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this place.

Experiencia fantástica: We could not recommend coming here any more!! A friend suggested this place after a suspected CCL tear for my dog and it was worth the 3+ hour round trip and I would do it again in a heart beat. Even scheduling the appointment I couldn’t believe how kind, patient, and thorough the staff were. The office is bright, open, and you’re met with the same kindness from everyone and the sense that people truly care. The exam rooms have treats, personal carafe of water, rug for traction, dog bed, and toys to make us feel at home (including human snacks and drinks as well in the lobby). We received amazing care from Dr. Leah Hixon. She actually pulled up the X-rays on a big screen so that there was a visual when everything was explained in detail as well as a clear plan of action for next steps. We will absolutely be making the trip back down should we ever run into any future issues! Thank you so much to everyone who made our visit so positive.

Experiencia fantástica: CCO is always a great experience. The vets and full team are knowledgeable, caring, and supportive. They always provide prompt service and are able to support urgent matters when time is sometimes critical to care. I’ve been in with my two dogs many times over the last 15 years. My most recent experience with Dr Swainson reconfirmed, yet again, that the care at CCO far surpasses expectations. My dog was showing lameness in her hind limbs. Unfortunately, over the last month her condition worsened fairly quickly. CCO got her scheduled for a CT within a couple days, and the next night we had results and a referral to neurology. Even though her case then became out of his care, Dr Swainson got us into the right hands immediately and even followed up on a Friday night after seeing the neurology report. I trust this team with my dogs lives any day and am so thankful for the care we’ve received from Dr Swainson, Dr Riecks, and everyone at CCO.

Experiencia fantástica: This is the nicest medical facility, animal or human, I have ever been to. The medical director was phenomenal with my aging Aussie, and so thorough and supportive explaining her diagnosis to me. My Myla was fitted with a special harness that has been so helpful that we are returning today, with her 15 year old litter mate brother, so he can also be fitted for his own lifting support harness. The entire staff was incredibly kind. I highly recommend Colorado Canine Orthopedics. It is not specifically surgical. We all agreed that my Myla was not a candidate for surgery, yet they provided suggestions and referrals for both Western and Eastern medical practices.

Experiencia fantástica: Our boy, Peyton, received the most wonderful care here! He was originally misdiagnosed at different vets office, and we knew something wasn’t right. We sought a second opinion and ended up at this amazing facility. At our first visit, he was correctly diagnosed and treated for a right shoulder tear. The price was very reasonable and the treatment was loving and thorough. He healed wonderfully and we will never go anywhere else for needs such at this. I recommend COLORADO CANINE ORTHOPEDICS to everyone that loves their pets like we do.

Experiencia fantástica: Our ortho of 20+ years retired, so we asked friends for recommendations and EVERYONE suggested CCO! We were not disappointed in the level of service, friendliness and the facility itself. Dr. DeTora was very thorough and patient with my questions and we didn't feel rushed at all. Even the pricing for our services was better than expected. Highly recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: I cannot express how amazing the front desks ladies to the vets to everyone else who works there! They genuinely care about your pets and that really means a lot to us. We brought our little Sora (dachshund) to get a IVDD surgery done bc she herniated a disc in her back. As you may know for this surgery it’s very costly but here it is way more reasonable and personal with your pets. Dr. Peterson did such an amazing job and we cannot thank her enough. We got the surgery done on the 21st and our little peanut is already progressed so far she is already trying to walk. We have high hopes she will be walking in no time with some doggy therapy! :) we are so very happy to have found this place and will be recommending this to all our friends for there little fur babies!

Experiencia fantástica: Very qualified staff with excellent clean facility. Doc was sharp and to the point on explanation and details. Treated our dog with kindness and great control for a 10 month old puppy. Not easy to do when he is puppy at 60 lbs!. Thank you very much for your great service.

Experiencia fantástica: This is by far the best vet clinic I've ever used. I have used them periodically for 5 years now for my german and, I say periodically because they know exactly what they're doin and they fix the problem without selling you on anything unnecessary. It's obvious they actually love dogs and it shows with their work and honestly price. I can't say enough good things. And thank you so much for everything you've done for chewy!

Experiencia fantástica: This is a fantastic clinic! Check-in and check-out went so quickly and smoothly. The waiting/exam rooms are very comfortable (for the people and the dogs). Dr. Dents and all the staff did a fantastic job with my Pyrenees. Dr. Dents was SO patient in answering all of our questions. We never felt rushed or pressured, and he explained everything to us.

Experiencia fantástica: They did an excellent job on my baby's CCL surgery. He has recovered quickly. They made sure I knew all the options and didn't push the surgery when I went in for a consult. The facility is very nice. They made sure I had everything I needed when we came home from surgery and even helped us get him in the car afterward. They responded very quickly to their texts and helped ease my mind while he was in surgery. 100% would recommend!

Experiencia negativa: I would highly not recommend this practice. I was running 15 minutes late to my dog’s first appointment due to unexpected road closures. I immediately called to let the office know. The receptionist stated their policy was 10 minutes and eventually let me know I would need to reschedule. I explained I was traveling from an hour away and already over halfway there but the office refused to grant me the extra 5 minutes. In my opinion, a business that is not flexible with their customers in unforeseen circumstances is not acceptable. Due to this poor experience, I will be going elsewhere for my dog’s ortho needs.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog needed TPLO surgery, and I couldn’t be happier with the treatment we received from CCO. They kept me updated through every step of the process, thoroughly answered all of my questions, were transparent about pricing, provided a detailed release pack, and followed up with me. I also found out he needed some extra work on his knee, which his primary vet didn’t notice. Dr Dent was great to work with. Well worth the 1.5 hour drive it took me to get there!

Experiencia fantástica: Never thought we would have a reason to be going to Colorado Canine Orthopedics, but I couldn’t be more glad to have been referred to them. We were referred to them after our cat shattered his leg in a freak accident. They never gave up on his care and went above and beyond to save his leg. Every staff member is truly concerned about the animals coming through their doors. They are also just as caring towards the families of the pets. Experiencia fantástica: Amazing facility!! Amazing staff! We were told by our local vet that our pup needed a full hip replacement… so glad we came to Colorado Canine Orthopedic for a second opinion. Within 30 minutes of being there we had x-rays that showed he DID NOT need a hip replacement :) and we have a solid plan going forward. I was also incredibly impressed that every waiting area was supremely outfitted with dog beds and toys. They were so kind and gentle with our nervous boy that they didn’t need to sedate him or muzzle him to give him a complete work up and x-rays. Thank you so much for your compassionate care!

Experiencia fantástica: My Aunts dog Misty broke her front right leg approx 4 weeks ago. They got her in immediately and she had surgery and we found out the bones are brittle and thin due to being from a puppy mill. My Aunts have had her now for 5+years. Well Monday she started walking funny on her left front leg, guess what? It was broken due to her lack of calcium in the bones and how she was treated for the first 2.5 years of her life. Yesterday, Dr Swainson put a plate and screws in her left arm. Poor girl. From the receptionist, to the techs, to the vet I give 10/10 stars!! We cannot thank them enough for their care and also the willingness to answer any questions we may have had. Today she's sore (surgery was about 18 hrs ago) however, she is doing great today for having both front legs broken and operated on. Thank you!! There are many vets who could take lessons from the vets, techs and reception area. They truly care about each animal coming in. This is the BEST place to have orthopedic surgery done on your fur babies!! Amazing!!!!! Can't thank you all enough!!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr Dent and everyone at this place was wonderful. Our Rottweiler is not a fan of doctors and they were awesome with her. So caring and gentle. I would recommend this place to anyone who has a pet they love and needs orthopedic care.

Experiencia fantástica: This center is very friendly and they truly do care about you fir babies and care for the as if they were their own. Dr. Leah Hixon listened to all my concerns and was very thorough in her examination of my precious little Chloe. She made a couple suggestions for her care, to include recommending a CT scan to get a clear diagnosis in order to decide what course of action to take. She called me 3 days later with the results and, thankfully, Chloe did not need surgery. She recommended in home therapy and provided me with a plan to follow. I am so grateful for Dr. Hixon and her thoroughness, empathy, concern and care for my baby. I highly recommend this facility should your fur baby need this type of care. Experiencia fantástica: Dr Swainton and his team were amazing from start to finish! Our pup had a full ACL tear and a medial meniscal tear. DB is recovering so well and not a day goes by that I do not get an email making sure our pup is on schedule for his recovery. They are an amazing hospital and I will never take my dogs anywhere else. Thank you Dr Swainton and team!

They really try to make you feel comfortable during these stressful appointments. Dr. Reicks has been amazing with our girl for her THR surgery. He's honest and up front about everything and explains everything in terms that we can understand. They are always available to answer questions and are very quick to respond. I can't say enough good things about CCO.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Hixon was amazing! She was incredibly thorough with her exam and she listened to our concerns…finally! We got a diagnosis for our girl and while it is not necessarily an orthopedic issue (GOLPP)..she took the time to make sure Kallie Mae was set up with a surgeon to get her breathing issue fixed! She went above and beyond and we are so grateful. She had her tie back surgery in under 24 hours of seeing her there and while we are still sorting through her diagnosis and finding what works best for her rear end issues..she can breathe now! I know that’s not an orthopedic doctors “problem” but she made it hers and was determined to make sure we got the help we needed. If we ever need an orthopedic in the future, we will be back. Experiencia fantástica: I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff and care. I was referred to ortho and opted to go here due to the rescue I work with mentioning good experiences here as well as a neighbor. It was quickly determined that an amputation was the best course of action for the best prognosis of my baby. Ortho reserved a spot two days away so if we decided to move forward we had a spot. It was discussed that it would be better performed by soft tissue next door. Not only did they call over and set everything up, they followed up with me when there was a 10 minute time shift and ensured I had all of my questions answered. Additionally, every single person was so kind and compassionate while helping me navigate an absolutely heartbreaking situation.

Experiencia fantástica: Our Rottweiler Bogey had orthoscopic surgery on both of his elbows. His surgery was only just done on Monday 5 days ago, but he already seems to be in so much less pain and walking without a limp. Dr. Toro did an amazing job, kept us informed before, during, and after the surgery.

Experiencia fantástica: We are so incredibly thankful to the team at Colorado Canine Orthopedics for taking care of our Grizzly Bear. During her initial visit for her CT, Dr. DeTora took the time to explain all of the possibilities for next steps and to answer all of my questions. The technicians and customer service team were also incredibly kind to both me and Grizzly and made her comfortable. During the time leading up to her bilateral elbow arthroscopy, they were great at communication and provided reminders what was needed for her day of surgery. Dr DeTora called me immediately postoperatively to update me and soon after the team called to schedule for discharge. During her discharge they showed me a video and photos of her post operatively where they had made a fake Dr outside her kennel for company, and played her smooth jazz until she relaxed (she had been howling) and fell asleep. The discharge information they provided in the packet was thorough and helpful in understanding what to expect in weeks to come. Thank you to the whole CCO team for taking such good care of our Grizzly.

Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful office setting and so much more comfortable for the dogs than other veterinary practices (dog toys, beds for them to lay on, separate nooks in the waiting room, coffee/snacks for humans, etc.). Staff is extremely friendly and the care and communication is top notch. We really appreciated their care of our pup and I would recommend them to anyone who needs orthopedic dog surgery.

Experiencia fantástica: Our dog had a TPLO performed by Dr. Swainson and we are very happy with all portions of the process. Easy scheduling, attentive staff, and great care and work done by Dr. Swainson. The incisions were clean, our pup was well taken care of, and had no issue going back for his follow up! He is healing well and we would bring another dog here if need be-fingers crossed that doesn’t happen. Pricing is high but medical care is not cheap for people or animals anymore. Well worth it for the service provided!

Experiencia fantástica: Your pets comfort is their top priority! Everyone is very friendly. Wish all vets cared this much! When you first arrive you are immediately led to a private room, even if you are early. They have treats and water for your dog in the private room. Awesome people!

Experiencia fantástica: I've had two of my dogs seen here, but my dog Belle received a TPLO surgery here. I do not have enough good things to say about CCO. They have incredible staff, offices and surgical suites. The hospital and location are so nice it had me rethinking trying to become a vet tech again. They have treated both of my dogs with nothing but top notch care and my dogs genuinely love going here. Belle's surgery and pre and post op instructions were incredible from here and she was treated exceptionally well. I was kept in the loop the whole time through her surgery. I compared their services with my local vet offering to do the same TPLO for cheaper, but the difference in treatment styles and actual medical parts that were placed in my dog made me choose CCO. I would 10/10 recommend them and use them again!

Experiencia fantástica: 100% recommend this surgery and rehab all the way around. I drove my buddy (Jimbo) from Albuquerque, NM and I had reservations, at first. I am glad I made the trip and highly recommend the surgeons and the medical team. They put me at ease and our dog will have a new start at life. They did not overcharge either. Very modest prices for what they do. Please keep it that way to allow more dogs to get reasonable help.

Experiencia fantástica: CCO is a comforting place for a pet - clean beds in every waiting/exam room, with a box of dog toys. It's very spa-like and calming. Our nervous pup was at ease. Also, the doctor was to the point and straightforward and didn't try to sell us a bunch of services we did not need.

Experiencia fantástica: We had just moved back to COS and into a 2-story house, with Clover, our 8 year old Corgi/Blue Heeler mix, who has bladder cancer. The first week, Clover tore her CCL. We have another rescue, who has a cyst around her spinal cord, but she is only 18 lbs. Clover, on the other hand, is 33 lbs. and hard to carry. It was a very stressful time. Dr. Swainson saw us and did everything necessary to ensure her ability to get through the surgery. The day of the surgery, they discovered she had a malformed tibia (probably from her 1st year at the hoarder/breeder she came from), which he had to break, put a plate and screws in and then do the TPLO surgery. He met us that night when we picked her up and showed us the xrays and explained everything he had done and why. He obviously enjoys his job, is talented, and personable. We were extremely pleased with him and the subsequent result. Unfortunately, when she got the sutures out, her pad was peeling back a bit, but it was the start of something larger, which no one can explain. Within 24 hours, her paw got totally messed up. It was horrible - as if it went through the blender. I noticed it was getting quite bad, but it was a Saturday night. Dr. Swainson saw her Monday, cleaned the wound and bandaged it. He was confounded as to what occurred, but thought it was an infarct (death of tissue resulting from a failure of blood supply, commonly due to obstruction of a blood vessel by a blood clot or narrowing of the blood-vessel channel. The dead tissue is called an infarct). Nobody can be sure what occurred as she has cancer and went through a rather extensive surgery, 2 risk factors for a blood clot. Dr. Swainson continued to show the utmost care for the next 6 weeks seeing her twice a week and cleaning and bandaging the wound. Today, she had her bandage removed finally, but it is still healing. He says it will be 2 more months before she's completely healed (both her leg and her foot). He is an amazing surgeon, and although I miss Naples, FL and the sun, I'm glad we moved so she was able to get the best care possible. Although she has cancer, they gave us 2 mos. last Feb 23, and she's still here and according to the pre-op ultrasound, the tumor had shrunk in size. Clover loves Dr. Swainson and so do we. Thank you so much!

Experiencia fantástica: This practice is amazing! We had an excellent experience from the time we made our appointment all the way through. Everyone is so helpful and professional. The office is set up for the comfort of your pet and you. The exam rooms have cozy beds and dog toys and the staff puts your pet at ease through the whole process. Dr. Michael DeTora is such a great doctor, so knowledgeable and explained everything so thoroughly and in a way that was easy to understand. He helped develop an easy to follow management plan for our dog’s hip dysplasia and spent the time to answer all our questions. He has such a passion for what he does. If we need further care we will definitely be back and we will definitely recommend this practice to everyone we know.
