It feels SO GOOD to have a Vet that we can count on that feels like home and doesn’t price gouge. Huge relief!

Always have been good as a normal vet but when my boy tore his ACL they managed to see us pretty quickly and got us started on treatments right away. Forever appreciative for how they handled him, they love/kindness they showed a pitbull and how they helped me get information for such a bad injury. It was such a difficult time for us but made easier by the people at this office.

Experiencia fantástica: I can’t say enough good things about High Plains Veterinary Hospital. I’ve been bringing my dog Elliott here for about a year now, ever since I adopted him. He’s a mill rescue who spent 10 years as a stud dog, and because of that difficult past he’s not very social, doesn’t trust people easily, and isn’t comfortable around other dogs. The team at High Plains has done an absolutely amazing job with him. They take such special care and always move at his pace, making sure he never gets startled or overwhelmed. Their patience, compassion, and understanding have made such a difference in his life—and in mine. My daughter has also been bringing her two dogs here for almost five years, and her experience has been just as wonderful. High Plains Veterinary Hospital is truly the best. We trust them completely and won’t go anywhere else. Highly recommend!

Everyone was so friendly and my puppy was instantly comfortable and happy to see everyone that greeted her. Dr. Moore and her vet tech sat on the floor and made friends with Coco. Experiencia fantástica: Love this Vet!! I just made the switch from my previous vet to High Plains and I had a great experience! The receptionists were all super nice and the lobby was very clean and quiet. Dr. Everett was so good with my dog. She was kind and very knowledgeable. My dog was having really bad allergies and she shaved and cleaned his hot spot which is now completely healed due to the topical she prescribed him. I’ll definitely be back to see Dr. Everett.

Experiencia fantástica: I have nothing but praise to say for High Plains, we took my childhood GSD here until he passed at 13y/o and now that i have my own GSD pup they are still the best vet in town!! Such kind, caring, and knowledgeable staff. I somewhat overreacted and brought my puppy in for what turned out to be an upset stomach, and they called me to follow up and check on him multiple times in the days following the visit to make sure he was doing okay. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!

Experiencia fantástica: I switched from VCA Dublin hospital to High Plains and it’s the best choice I made not only for my dogs but myself. They are honest and up front with services, everyone is welcoming and kind. They don’t overcharge me for tests and things my dog doesn’t need. They address my concerns and give me advice. I am an overly anxious dog mom and I feel my other vet took advantage of that. And I was always spending a fortune for a simple check up. I’ll never take my pups anywhere else.

Experiencia negativa: There is no transparency as to what is being done what is required and then no up front pricing as to what it's going to cost for your appointment. It's not until after the fact when you're up at the reception desk they tell you the shocking sticker price. The place is highway robbery. I used to bring my other dogs here and I will not be coming back.

Experiencia positiva: My extended family and I have been bringing our dogs here for over a decade. I have always enthusiastically recommended them in person as well as online. The vibe in that office feels off now. The receptionist was not very friendly on the phone and made me feel like I was inconveniencing her by calling. Then when I brought my dog in to see Dr. Everett, I left feeling like the appt was a waste of time and money. It felt like I was at a vet school and dealing with an inexperienced student doing a practice exam. She handled my dog awkwardly and didn’t really give a thorough exam. I got the vibe that she doesn’t like her job and probably made the wrong career choice. Little joy, friendliness, or passion in her demeanor. I ended up having to spend more money to have another vet’s office do a proper exam. The three stars are being given due to good experiences I’ve had in the past with all the other vets here. I had a few dogs put to rest here and they couldn’t have been nicer or more compassionate. I may come back, but I will say I am hesitant now.

I trust the techs to take care of my babies, when one of my boys had to stay overnight, I went in the back and said goodnight to him and he was well taken care of, the lady was SO nice and understanding, and I knew he would be ok....I am always skeptical of other people taking care of my babies. I've just never had a better experience and as long as we live in Colorado Springs, will always go here.

Experiencia fantástica: The whole staff was very professional and helpful from being to end. I had to put my baby Joules down. She had cancer in her nose, and it was affecting her ability to breathe. Although this was a devastating event for my family. This clinic made sure Joules went with dignity. I was given Joules' ashes in a very timely manner in an amazing decorative urn, and we received a clay impression of her paw print. A few days later, we received a handwritten letter from all providers who were hands-on with us expressing their condolences and how lucky Joules was to have a family like us. This is the place to take your loved ones to get the best care.

Experiencia negativa: I'm adjusting my review. So there are several providers at this office and I have been going there for YEARS. Some of the providers are better than others. I have a dog who is scared of strangers. I am working with a behaviorist on this, but here's the thing. Today, my dog (on sedation meds) and I came in to get vaccines. I used to feel like this was a wonderful clinic, and felt like we were cared for on a personal level. Today was much different. - it felt like we were being sold to instead of cared for - the tech was not being considerate of an anxious dog, she was really loud and did not seem to understand how to handle an anxious dog - the vet stated, with confidence, that my dog is done growing at 17 months. Not true for a Newfoundland or any other giant breeds, this really undermined my confidence in the care - discussions about food were minimized and dismissed - I was not heard / listened to - both the vet and tech were acting like I brought in an extremely aggressive dog (he has barked, warned when scared, but never has attacked anyone) - I was not listened to and made to feel like I was stupid or didn't know anything about dogs, specifically my own. We will be changing providers

Experiencia negativa: Although I have previously enjoyed coming to this veterinarian for the care of my animals, it seems that the care and customer service has fallen off. Now I spend more time either in the waiting room than my actual appointment or spending money for care that doesn’t treat my pets. I brought my dog in for an injury to her leg in December, after two months of treating her as instructed by the vet, I brought her back in for a follow up appointment as there was a little progress. In short, I paid for an appointment to get told that it would just more time for the injury to heal and I she wouldn’t be prescribed any additional medication. My dog has been in a cone for 8 months and the injury has still not healed. Additionally, I showed up to my appointment 15 minutes early and after sitting there for a half an hour, I noticed seen or given any update. It wasn’t until I went up to the counter to retrieve my pets medical documentation that I got notified the pet behind me was giving them problems and it was gonna be longer. I told them I was going to depart and they seem to care a little; didn’t even ask if I would like to reschedule. I saw multiple pets come in after me, be seen, and depart. I’ll be looking for another vet

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I love bringing our cat and dog here. They are always in such good hands and this is a vet that TRULY CARES. I have been to so many other vets (and big corporations like VetCo, part of PetCo), and it’s just not the same. Dr. Felton is our vet and I recommend her to everyone!! She is so caring and takes the time to always explain things to us, making sure all our questions are answered in each visit. I have never felt rushed or worried to ask follow up questions like I have with other vets who always seem in a rush. We cannot recommend the staff at High Plains enough!

Experiencia negativa: Bad first impression. Tried calling for basic fees and was told that their visit fee varies from $91 for established clients only. Im guessing new clients they charge higher? Some sort of range that they decide on the spot? Who knows because they couldn't give me a price, but I guess it's a roll of the dice how much money you'll be out just showing up. Very shady I've never heard of getting charged more for being new, the place we ended up choosing gave us first visit free. They then went on to say if you are new they have to work with the Dr's to see if they could accept a new client anyway. I'm very picky about vets and this did not inspire confidence. If you are an established client probably happy but if you are new I would recommend looking elsewhere.

She gave me the reassurance that he is healing well and that he is doing great. Thank you so much Kayla for taking care of our boy.

Experiencia fantástica: I couldn’t recommend this place enough. Dr. Teepe is an extraordinary vet and person. I started bringing my dogs to High Plains nearly three years ago. A year ago, one of my fur babies was diagnosed with epilepsy. Dr. Teepe spent so much time working through his diagnosis with me, trying new treatments, doing everything she could to help me give him the best quality of life while we could. And at the end of his life, she gave him and I so much support, and the best quality of care I could have ever asked for. I am forever grateful for the amazing staff at High Plains who treated my fur baby like their own.

Experiencia fantástica: Although we didn’t get to visit, we had an emergency with our dog and called them thinking they were an ER. They were about to close, but the receptionist was super helpful and gave suggestions on ERs close by. I also asked for an opinion and while prefacing that they can’t give medical diagnosis’s as they only work the front desk, they still provided great advice and input that helped us a lot during a time of stress.

Experiencia fantástica: High Plains Vet Hospital was a comfortable and professional place where we took our Jack Russell to be seen. She is in eternal sleep now, but I believe that her life was prolonged by the excellent care she received, and the work done on her teeth. Some of her teeth were removed due to bacteria, and it was a big difference in prolonging her life. This Vet place was up-front with the price and the price was very affordable. We were very pleased with our visits every time. No complaints. Now we bring our two cats to be seen at High Plains, and we are still pleased with the care provided, and the transparency.

Experiencia negativa: Money is the only thing they care about, I couldn't even get information on what to do with my dog having bloody stool and vomit and already spending 2500$. They said they aren't taking new patients. Do not waste your time like I did.

Experiencia fantástica: I have brought two very different cats here over the years. One was an ancient, tiny sweetheart with multiple health problems. The other is big, unusually strong for a cat, and can be MEAN when he wants to be. Whether they're dealing with my frail 19-year-old cat or my monster truck of a cat, they are always compassionate, helpful, and informative. The big guy can be scary even for me to handle sometimes, but they're always patient with him and know how to deal with him to minimize stress for all parties involved. (I swear I love him, I'm just being honest!) I've probably seen all the vets there at some point since I don't tend to specify which one I want to see when I make appointments, and I have only good things to say about all of them. This is hard to write, but I recently had to have the little elderly cat euthanized after a long battle with cancer. I realized late afternoon on a Friday that it was time and I called them. I was kind of a mess while trying to talk to them, but they were understanding and kind. The cat had been with me since she was a few months old, for almost half of my entire life so far, so losing her was very, very hard. Despite the short notice and weekend hours, they went out of their way to make an appointment slot for us the very next morning so she didn't have to suffer any longer than necessary. They were with us for many years through her severe IBD, hyperthyroidism, frequent upper respiratory infections, and finally her digestive cancer, and they didn't let us down in the end. She went through many medications, diagnostics, and treatments over the years and they have always been able to help her. Even though she's no longer with me, I still have my big brute cat and will continue to bring him here because I know he'll be well cared for no matter what health problems come his way. Everyone from the receptionists, to the techs, to the vets are just wonderful.

Experiencia fantástica: I originally chose this vet when I moved to COS and needed someone close to me that had new patient availability, and it was the best random choice I've ever made. The staff here is GREAT. They're always extremely nice and loving towards my cats. You can tell everyone just really loves working here and doing what they do. Dr. Moore is the best vet I've had in my time as a pet owner. My cat was constantly throwing up and had lost several pounds over a couple of years. Her vet at the time said it was normal and offered nothing further. I mentioned it my very first visit at High Plains and immediately the vet knew something was wrong - most likely an allergy. We got her switched to a new food and she doesn't throw up anymore, and has gone from 6-7lbs up to 10. They've addressed any and all concerns I've had with all 3 of my cats whether it's at an appointment or me emailing the doctor. I could not be happier with how well cared for my pets and I are here at High Plains.

Experiencia fantástica: I unfortunately have a very sick cat. I scheduled a last minute appointment thinking it was for the next day but it was for later in the month. Dr Teepe gladly accepting my baby as a walk in and took amazing care or her providing me with updates on the way and working her back in the following day. She has been nothing but educational on every test she's done and why she's done it as well as what every value in her blood work means. I truly appreciate her and her work. Thank you all for taking care of my baby. The employees at the front desk are equally amazing. I also had to put my dog down just before Christmas, she was a client here. Her Dr sent us a sympathy card and it was very touching especially since we had to go through the emergency vet due to how critical she was from the internal bleeding due to a massive tumor on her liver. The staff here are so compassionate.

I love how they try to accommodate my schedule and try to fit me in when need be. I appreciate their accommodations to me at all times! Experiencia fantástica: We have been with High Plains since we moved to Colorado Springs in 2020. I had a senior English Pointer/Lab mix and the doctors there were all so amazing with him. Especially doctor Bizzul. She would get down on the floor with him, and love all over him. At the end we were there almost every week. Everyone there is extremely kind, and you can tell they really care.

It’s difficult to know where to start explaining just how incredible this entire office is; their compassion, attention to detail, and irrefutably genius staff are merely the tip of the iceberg. We have a very high needs dog who is a frequent flyer at High Plains. Everyone knows and loves him, they knows his meds practically by heart, and anyone who is free when he comes in will take any available minute to come say hello. When we inherited our dog due to a death in the family, the entire office agreed that if my partner and I were unable to keep him they would take him in as an office dog, no questions asked. At the end of most visits one of the staff will take our boy on a little greeting parade in the back, allowing everyone to see him and give him the pets he is rightly due. The entire staff might be more excited than we are at our dog’s weight loss and general thriving. We hardly have to say our own names when we call for meds and appointments! This office goes above and beyond in every way they possibly can, and I cannot express the gratitude my partner and I and our boy have for every single person there. I wish there were an option for more than 5 stars. In spirit, we’re giving High Plains infinite stars!

We specifically see Dr. McKenney but have gone to a few others at the facility as well if she can’t squeeze us in for something and everyone always does a great job. They clearly love their patients.

Experiencia fantástica: Took a client's dog for follow-up on injury from a housemate fight. A bit difficult to get to but once there as with any strip mall location parking is where you can find it. But very nice front office staff, very clean and tidy. Large lobby, very clean exam rooms. Dr Emily Teepe was very pleasant and she was pleased with how Gizmo's healing is coming a long.

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I were in search of a new veterinarian that still showed the true love and care for animals since our last vet at Crossroads animal hospital, was completely checked out. Dr. Moore and the FULL staff exceeded all of our expectations!!! I wish I could name everyone from the front desk, vet techs, and more. Just trust me everyone at this office cares deeply on giving excellent care not only to your family pets but to us the owners!! My 12 year old yorkie who was completely put on the back burner at our last vet, was thoroughly taken care of through out her extensive dental surgery. The first time I’ve ever seen a vet go the extra mile to make sure we have the longest time with her and that she has the fullest life left!! I can’t thank you all enough on how you have made our family feel. We feel truly blessed to be apart of this amazing veterinarian hospital family now. All three of our dogs have had their annuals for 2023 at the last awful place, but after this wonderful experience with our yorkie we don’t even mind spending the extra money to get a much better and THOROUGH proper check up again with High Plains!! They too are already scheduled for new annuals with Dr. Moore for 2023 and we couldn’t feel happier to know they will get the proper check up they deserve now!!! We highly highly recommend High Plains Veterinary Hospital!!

Experiencia fantástica: I have been going to see this vet for a long time now and am so very impressed with this vet office, in particular Dr. Bizzul. I had a 15 year old pit bull Nala that was a treasured member of my family and Dr. Bizzul always treated her with such care and kindness and never pushed us to pay for expensive procedures for her that would not add much to her quality of life. We ended up having to put her down early this month because her quality of life was poor and it was time. Dr. Bizzul was incredibly kind and so patient with us and helped us work through that whole process. Losing my sweet Nala was the hardest thing I have ever been through and the team at High Plains made this awful and sad process easier. I will never be able to thank Dr. Bizzul enough for her gentleness and compassion at the worst moment of my life, and if you choose to bring your animals here, you will be in good hands.

This place is exceedingly friendly, gentle, and professional! They always explain the procedures, medications, and help you when you need them. I've taken Lily here for years and have always received the best service and care- definitely recommended!

Experiencia negativa: I have been a patient at this clinic, for quite some time~with more than one pet. During my first visit with Dr Bruewer, my pet(s) and I were treated with genuine care, which remains very appreciated. This morning I left a voice mail for the staff, during normal business hours, for either the results of the laboratory testing of a fecal exam that I was told would have resulted in a call yesterday. I questioned if they needed a replacement sample for the first one if it may have been misplaced.shortly afterwards, I received a call from Dr Jessica McKenney. I politely asked her to please slow down her speech as I was having trouble understanding her diction. I informed her that I have a hearing disability. Numerous times. The communication challenges continued with the vet, and I repeatedly asked her to please slow down and put some space between her words, due to them running together and making it difficult for me to understand (again stated Disability). The doctors reply was ‘I AM SPEAKING HOW I ALWAYS SPEAK’, Which is most disrespectful to/as well as uncaring and bullying, to a consumer who has clearly stated, more than once, the disability assistance that is needed. This most recent office communication challenge and how the vet refused to respond with any professional response to what I ended up BEGGING her to do, So That I could Understand what is needed for my pets care, remains unconscionable. Upon any further scheduling with this clinic, I will Not Subject myself to such treatment with this vet, Dr McKenney. According to research, she is listed as the owner of this practice. I truly hope that previous reviews showing that a complaint about care resulted in a discharge of patient/pet, is not repeated as retaliation to speaking truths. Having effective communication from all staff members should not be a one off.

It was my first experience having my dog get surgery and the entire staff was so kind and patient answering all my questions. Experiencia fantástica: I brought my cat, Prime Minister Winston Purchill, here after moving to Colorado Springs. They found a broken tooth in my baby. They were able to fit him in for surgery soon after. They took such good care of my cat. They explained the costs very well. They also called a few days later to check on him as courtesy. They are another level of customer service, just kind in every way. Secondly, my dog loves going to the vet Jusy to see everyone. Lastly, I had a last minute emergency with my dog and note am pregnant. They went above and beyond to help me with my dog. Words can’t even express how grateful and appreciative I am with the all the detailed help from them. In conclusion, this is the place to take your pets for not only great service but a great experience overall .

All of the staff were very nice and professional!!!! It was amazing and recommend my family and friends to take their fur babies to High Plains Veterinary Hospital.

Experiencia fantástica: We recently moved here so this was our girls’ first vet visit in the area. We have a Weimaraner mix (50lbs) and a terrier mutt (65lbs). Our Weimaraner is afraid of everything new (places, people, animals, noises etc.), and tends to bark at everyone and hide behind me. The terrier mutt is strong and loud and very alpha, so she is intimidating (though actually very sweet). This office agreed to let me take both of my little psychopaths at the same time, so my Weim. could feel comforted by her sister. The Dr. & nurse (whose names I’ve forgotten ‍♀️) were SO kind & patient with my girls. They took the time to let our nervous girl warm up to them, and they even administered a shot and oral syringe in the room with me because she was too afraid to leave my side. After lots of time (and treats haha), the Dr. & nurse earned her trust and she shocked us when she willingly went with them to the back for blood work. She had NEVER willingly gone with any Vet before—I was shocked! They also let me leave the girls in the room while I paid at the front desk, so they weren’t scaring everyone with their nonstop booming barks lol. My little psycho babies will definitely be back! Thank you so much for all you did for my Lulu and Lucy and the kindness, compassion, and support you showed during the tough times we faced. It will most certainly not be forgotten.

Experiencia negativa: Be aware that the deposit they ask for when scheduling over the phone is non-refundable under any circumstances. I had scheduled an appointment for my dog to be checked for some issues he was having and got an appointment about a week and a half out. I was able to get him seen elsewhere sooner as I was wanting to get him help ASAP, but when I called to cancel his appointment 5 days before the scheduled appointment they informed me the appointment deposit will not be refunded even with advance cancellation notice and no services rendered.

Experiencia negativa: I have had good experiences here in the past but I was disappointed with my last visit. I brought my kitten to get spayed and microchipped. When I brought her home later that afternoon I noticed something abnormal where the chip was implanted and called to make sure everything was ok. I was told I needed to bring her back for a third time because something was wrong. I rushed her back and was told the chip didn’t go in all the way but I wouldn’t get charged for the new chip they would put in…I asked if there would be any sort of compensation as I paid $500+ for the procedures just to bring her back again and put her through even more discomfort. I was told no because “these things happen” then given a lecture on bringing her in a carrier (again, I rushed there thinking something was wrong, and obviously brought her in one the first 2 visits that day). They took her back and immediately brought her out saying it was just a clot of blood…”super common, happens all the time”. So all of this could’ve been avoided if they would’ve just told me that over the phone. We don’t live close both have busy schedules so this was extremely inconvenient for me and not ideal for my kitten who just had surgery. Prior to this experience we didn’t mind driving out of the way and paying expensive prices because they have always seemed great with our other 3 animals but we will be rethinking where we take them in the future.

Experiencia negativa: Treated my wife and kitten very poorly, and made my wife freak out after the surgery when she called concerned about a large lump on our kittens back. They said “ O that doesn’t sound right, bring her back in” mind you this is the second time in the same day after being spayed we had to bring her back to the vet just to be told it’s a clot of blood stuck to her fur. Very discouraging to hear being these people are supposed to be professionals. I would assume as patients they look them over like any medical personnel would with their patients and make sure they are in good shape to go home.

Experiencia fantástica: Last week Rocky our Golden had to be put to sleep. Rocky was family to us and the most-loving dog you would ever meet. He was 12 years old, a senior, and lived a full loving life. But for selfish reasons, we did not want to let him go but it was the right thing to do. The staff did everything they could to help us through that difficult time. Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommended small animal practice. I'm a credentialed technician and appreciate their protocols and practices. All of our dogs and cats have gone here for years for routine and advanced appointments and procedures. I recommend them to all of my friends with cats and dogs. They do see some exotics and have handled basic exotics appointments well for us but I would not personally consider them a specialized practice if you need a primary vet for a bird/herp currently.

Most recently I've been having appointments with Dr. Kennedy who has really just been amazing. I'm so happy with her and the entire the staff for their care, attentiveness, professionalism, affordability, and flexibility.

Experiencia fantástica: We are new to Colorado Springs and we had no idea where to take our large and young German Shepherd when he came down with a nasty ear infection. We asked around and a couple people mentioned High Plains, and so we gave them a try. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and only had to wait a few minutes before we got sent back. Once in patient room we waited just another few more minutes before my dog was being looked at and treated. Overall the clinic was clean, and they were kind to both my dog and children. The whole experience took us under 30 minutes and I never felt like they were not taking my dog's problem seriously. The pricing was right on par with what I was expecting, so overall a very good experience.

They made room in their busy schedule to see my furbaby Harlowe for stomach issues and gave her a same day appointment and Dr. Kennedy is very knowledgeable and was very thorough and communicative throughout the day. Experiencia positiva: They seem to care. It's hard to evaluate because we've only used them since Covid restrictions started, and we haven't been able to accompany our dog inside. We receive phone updates after the visit, and otherwise just meet with someone outside to hand off our dog. I'm used to going in and actually seeing first hand. But our dog doesn't resist going inside, so I guess they must be treating her well. No complaints so far.

They were all so patient with us and our kiddos during our time of sorrow. Now that we have our new puppy, they continue taking care of him too! Always professional and very friendly staff.

Experiencia positiva: I really wish a better system was setup at this point for checking in. I called ever minute for 10 minutes without answer so I left and wont be returning until there is a better system in place for appointments. I totally understand everyone is home and noticing there pets much more often since covid and there is many more visits etc. Calling to get checked in at this point is a bad system and you should invest in a online check in or have people to check you in from the parking lot. Streamline your system so we can get a simple yearly done! 11 months ago I gave a 5 star today a 3 simply because I cannot get to my appointment.

Experiencia fantástica: I have constantly owned a dog for the past 25 years so I've gotten to know many veterinarians and I've been to multiple offices across the country during that time. None of them have compared to my experience with Dr. Bizzul and the staff at High Plains. 3 years ago, they diagnosed my sweet(but feisty!) little dog with renal disease. Every single time I ever needed anything they responded right away. No matter what the need was, big or small. They were always so kind and helpful. They've shown me in multiple ways that they all truly care about their patients. I got to know Dr. Bizzul this past spring. She was always professional, thoughtful and very honest with her opinions when it came to treating my dog. She always took the time to fully answer any questions that I had, even if we had already been on the phone for a while. She never made our conversations feel rushed. Unfortunately, my little fighter had to be put down on Friday. The love that the staff and Dr. Bizzul showed to me was so comforting. I've had to put many dogs down, but I've never had staff or a veterinarian cry with me during the process. This office is so very special and they always made me feel so supported. I highly recommend them to anyone. Thank you, High Plains for always being there for me.
