Experiencia negativa: They USED to be great and Dr. Twilla still is. However, they are now corporate owned and are miserable to deal with. They used to allow Chewy to call in when time to order our dogs’ food and they will no longer do that. We have to either buy it from them or their “online” store which is more expensive and not as easy to navigate. They will write a Rx for the food for me to send in, but I have to physically go there to get it. They will NOT email or text a picture. They will snail mail but for $12!!! They have zero concern about customer service even though I have gone there more than 25 years. All they care about is the almighty dollar. I really feel badly for Dr Twilla and the other folks there as the GM and corporate folks just don’t care.

Experiencia positiva: I’ve used this animal Hospital for both of my dogs for the last 8 years. Although a bit pricey, I’ve stayed with them because they are clean, show compassion and overall a god hospital. As of recent, I took my dog for an ear infection and when I got home the ear drops would expire in three months. I’ve received ear drops in the past and they have lasted for approx a year. Just be weary to check the packaging on medication to ensure they aren’t giving you meds that have been sitting on their shelf and about to expire, losing its effectiveness.

I also want to recognize Carlos, a vet tech, who is extremely thorough, patient, and professional during visits. He took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure our dogs, Barty and Ella, were well cared for. It’s clear this team truly loves what they do and treats every pet like their own. We’re so grateful to have such a caring, knowledgeable, and compassionate vet office taking care of our pups. Highly recommend!

Experiencia negativa: I am extremely disappointed in the experience I had at this veterinary clinic. I called in with a stray cat who was clearly in need of medical attention, hoping the clinic would show even a small amount of compassion or willingness to help. Instead, I was met with a cold, transactional attitude and absolutely no discount or consideration for the fact that this was a homeless animal with no owner to cover costs. Most reputable vets understand that helping strays is part of supporting the community. Not here. Their refusal to offer even a minimal price adjustment made it clear that profit mattered more than the wellbeing of an animal in distress. It was disheartening, frustrating, and honestly shocking. If you’re looking for a veterinary office that values compassion, flexibility, and community responsibility, this is not the place. I called in hoping to save a stray and hung up out feeling like the clinic didn’t care at all. I will not be returning, and I’ll be encouraging others to seek out vets who actually prioritize the welfare of animals over dollars.

I was able to get a last-minute appointment for my cat Milo, and they even called me the morning of to see if I could come earlier just in case he needed any treatment — that really showed how much they care. From the front desk to the vet assistant and the doctor, every single person was wonderful. They made us feel comfortable the whole time and even let us stay in the room while Milo got his blood work and IV fluids. That meant a lot and helped keep both of us calm. Experiencia negativa: If you want your pet to die after taking it to Sunshine Animal Hospital, this is the place to take it. I took my cat for an eye infection, and about a week later, I had to surrender her. I went to Sunshine as an emergency at 2 PM, and lo and behold, the doctors were out to lunch. The place was empty except for one customer with their dog, who had just arrived, and another customer who arrived five minutes later. So the receptionist advises me that for them to see my cat, I had to give them a fee of $110.26 for taking time out from their lunch break (they didn't have a napkin to wipe their mouths with, at least show that I interrupted their lunch time). They asked me what was wrong with her. I told them to look at the infection in or around the eye, which had just ruptured while taking it to them. That she hadn't been eating or doing her business for over four days, just drinking a bit of water. They drained her eye and gave her two injections, one for antibiotics and the other to avoid vomiting (which, by the way, she had nothing to vomit because she wasn't eating). Charged me for clean and clip, also OSHA charges. A total of $264.72 for nothing; they didn't even prescribe any sort of medication. They called me the next day to ask how the cat was, and I replied the same: no eating, pooping, or drinking. They said, "Ok," and then hung up. They also said the cat was uncontrollable and that they couldn't do much for her; when I picked her up, she was light as a feather and wouldn't even move. What kind of hospital is Sunshine, that they can't even control pets to medicate them? All they seem to be able to do is stick a needle in your pet and send you home, then charge an outrageous amount for doing nothing. Here it was a week later, and the cat didn't get any better, so I surrendered her to the Humane Society so that she wouldn't suffer anymore. Refund the money I paid for your negligence if you have any sympathy at all for the pain you've caused me and the death of my cat.

Starting off, The front office is very kind I just don’t remember everyone’s name but Dontae works the front and just super kind & polite! Loved how sweet he was . I came to bring my elderly dog in who was sick and I was treated like family. Never have I had such an amazing experience at any vet service! Next, the Drs wow left speechless Dr. Restrepo such a kind soul she left an impact on me and Dr. Twilla . He did absolutely everything to save my dog. Both doctors are so kind, patient loving and caring. I cannot express enough gratitude with these two doctors. I’m very blessed they helped me during the hardest times . For Vet techs , ALL OF THEM ARE THE BEST . Such incredible bedside manner!! So sweet dealt with me crying and everything just so kind . Especially Leslie, she was so kind, and I forgot the other names! This place runs smoothly because they have hearts of gold and truly love what they do. Also- they really care about your pet and their needs. I would absolutely 100% return . I normally don’t write anything anywhere but I felt like I had to. I needed to show gratitude! Thank you guys for saving my dog !! I don’t know how much time I have left with him as he’s elderly but they helped me tremendously.

Like me, she finds Dr Mark and Dr A down to earth, friendly, and compassionately insightful. The techs, too. I've had excellent phone support from the front office staff. However, the new prescription policy makes it difficult to afford his medications. It's prohibitive, the cost is 3x what I pay online. This adds extra work for her as she is full-time caregiver for her 82 y/o husband who has alzheimers, and she is no spring chicken! I feel guilty adding to her stress. Experiencia negativa: HOW DID THEY GET IT SO WRONG?!? I will keep this to the facts only. My dog Apollo went to the groomers in March of this year. From the moment I picked him up I noticed something was wrong. He began to have issues urinating. So I took him in to Sunshine. FIrst visit the Vet immediately said it must be bladder stones and suggested some expensive tests. Since I didn't feel she listened to me at all, we agreed to put him on antibiotics and return in 2 weeks. We did that and his condition remained the same. So I asked for a follow up visit but also requested a different Vet because I wanted to ensure I was heard this time. The second visit I was met with the same confirmation bias as the first. He swore it was bladder stones and ignored and dismissed what had led us to this point. He ignored that since my dog was a dalmation he had been tested most of his life for stones (dalmations are prone to urate stones) and since he has a thyroid issue requiring yearly tests for his medication. I again voiced my concerns about infection or injury considering the groomer visit was my catalyst, but was dismissed again as merely a coincidence. We tried a stronger antibiotic and scheduled a third visit. By this time an Xray had shown no stones and an ultrasound (the first one) also came back negative. Not to be deterred the third Vet decided to do a second "quick" scan to confirm if there were stones after she drained his bladder. Magically this time she reported stones in a sand-like image but never produced the photos I had asked for. At this point they recommended surgery which included neutering and a radical procedure called a urethrostomy. So I did some more homework and needed another opinion because he was also struggling to poop at this point. I saw another Vet elsewhere and after one visit it was determined that his bladder and prostate were inflamed due to injury. With this information I was able to confront the groomers and learned that they did in fact use a hip strap to hold him up during grooming. This strap lined up perfectly with where the injury occurred and a new regiment of anti-inflammatory and physical therapy was implemented. He showed improvement in just 2 days. My new vet did a test for crystals in his urine and determined he never had any urate stones which also by the way never show up in X-Rays considering their make-up. ultrasounds would show them but urine tests are the best way to discover the type of stones his breed presents with. A few short weeks later my dog is back to normal and it only cost me $157 as opposed to the charge Sunshine wanted for surgery of $3570.61, which would all have been unnecessary charges for the problem at hand. It's also possible he could have had complications as well as the symptoms intended to be addressed may have remained because they weren't addressing the core issue of injury and inflammation HOW DID THEY GET IT SO WRONG?!? Sunshine did 3 urinalysis tests, an X-Ray, 2 ultrasounds, 2 catheter drainings of his bladder, 2 different antibiotic rounds, 3 physical exams, and a urine culture and were still clueless even though I had suggested all along it may have been injury. Im so mad because if they had listened to me this could have been over months ago. Instead my dog suffered for 3 months of leaking urine on himself as he slept, straining to urinate and poop which Im sure was accompanied by pain. He suffered while they racked up charges. I just wish i could get my money back and more importantly the time wasted exploring the diagnosis they suggested which was based in no evidence at all. While it was a possibility there were easier and less expensive ways to rule out that possibility but more importantly the accompanying story and history should have made that diagnosis a secondary one. Also, urate stones are dissolvable with diet had that been the primary cause of his condition. Surgery should have been a last resort, but for these 3 Vets at Sunshine it was their intention all along. Sunshine, do better and listen to the pet owners next time.

Experiencia fantástica: I can’t say enough good things about my first visit here today! My cat is an anxious guy and gets very stressed waiting in vet lobbies with loud dogs and he’s super squirmy during any type of examination. I explained his issues over the phone and the staff helped accommodate his needs by letting us wait in the car until a room was ready to avoid having him stressed out waiting around dogs, they did everything with me in the room with him since he’s most comfortable when I’m with him, and they were very patient examining him and giving him injectable meds while he was squirming. My cat has never been the best behaved at the vet but this is the most chill I’ve seen him. He sat on my lap and even started falling asleep in the corner on the floor while we were waiting, which is a night and day difference from him pacing the room stressed and being denied even a basic exam for being “too difficult” at the humane society animal health center. He needed to be seen as soon as possible and I was able to easily get an appointment the same day. Cost for the exam and all medications was very reasonable. I appreciate that Dr. Restrepo was thorough and gave me some options and recommendations for treatment and further diagnostics but didn’t push or encourage any of the more expensive labs she didn’t think he needed, and I was able to decide with no pressure. It’s nice to finally have found a vet that doesn’t treat cats like a second class pet compared to dogs. Overall I’m super impressed and sunshine will be my cat’s new primary vet going forward :)

Dr Restrepo was so kind and reassured me that while my dog is old and needs heart meds this wasn't her day to go. She was straightforward and honest about my options for meds and testing. A couple days later I thought she was dying again. Dr Restrepo was understanding and kind even though she was telling me the same thing she had said a few days earlier. I am grateful for a Vet who listens and cares that this pup is my baby. If you're looking for a vet with great bedside manner and customer service this is the place to go!

Experiencia negativa: I am extremely frustrated and outraged by the way this hospital treats loyal clients. I have been a client for over 5 years, with 4 dogs, always bringing them in for consultations and trusting this clinic’s services. However, after my recent experience, it is clear that they have no consideration or respect for their customers. I tried to purchase Simparica for my dogs from my preferred pharmacy, as I always have, but the clinic changed its policies without properly informing clients and is now forcing me to buy directly from them at a higher price. Even after promising to make an exception this time, they denied the prescription again forcing me to leave work and pay more for something I could have delivered to my door for a lower cost. This is not just a lack of communication, but a lack of respect for long-time clients. Pet owners have the right to choose where to purchase their pets’ medication without being coerced into paying more at the clinic. This kind of practice is unacceptable!! and the way they are handling this situation shows that their priority is not the well-being of the animals or client satisfaction but pure profit. After years of loyalty to this clinic, I now feel completely undervalued and disappointed

Experiencia fantástica: Best vet I’ve ever had. Keep doing what you’re doing. Today I had a bit of an emergency. My cat had blood in her stool. I rushed her in only to discover all the vets were at lunch. Fortunately, Dr Bodner cut her lunch hour short to consult with me. She reassured me I didn’t not poison my cat with a bit of onion she ate off the floor. Hooked me up with some meds and we were on our way. That’s what I call service. Thank you Dr. Bodner for easing my mind and helping me out with my fur baby.

Experiencia fantástica: Starting with the finest Vets, Dr's Mark Twilla, Bodnar and staff are the best! Caring, thorough and great about explaining your pet's diagnosis and treatment options. And their entire staff - are also excellent and very caring and obviously love what they do - we appreciate each of them so much!. We've had two generations of pups with quite of range of health issues and we're very thankful for the amazing care that they have provided our former pets and currently for our Border Collie, Scout and Llewellyn Setter Mix, Cookie, who absolutely love their caregivers at Sunshine - thank you all so much!

Experiencia fantástica: CARLOS, not the veterinarian is phenomenal. I am leaving this review for Carlos, the tech, because after feeling rushed out by the doctor without even a farewell or post visit recommendations after cutting into my animal. Things like.. Do I need to watch the wound? Do I need to put a protective neck thingy so he doesn't scratch the wound? They gave no advice or recommendations, once they were done with him, just heres medicine twice a day, once a month, OK BYE! Once I agreed to pay the HIGHER amount, they attended to my animal, gave me his medicine, and literally said bye! And RUSHED me out, or at least I FELT RUSHED.. it may have been my appearance, some say I look like a gangster, others who know me know thats not the case. I am not sure why I was rushed, nor can I tell you why the doc didn't come back to let me know hey, keep an eye on that wound and yada yada yada, you know what docs do at the end of a visit.. I mean, she didn't even come back, once the assistant tossed my animal back in the room with meds, spit out some quick instructions on how many tabs to give my animal and quickly said BYE! I am not saying what they did was wrong, but I felt RUSHED.. and for the amount of money I just spent, I don't want to feel RUSHED. And guess what.. Carlos, noticed this, he noticed I was being rushed out and he HIMSELF rushed to provide me & my animal the POST visit care, and answer ALL the questions I had.. can you believe the doc or assistant didn't even ask me do i have any questions? After they cut into my animal? Regardless how small the cut was? Well guess what doc, I did have more questions and CARLOS not you or your assistant answered them. You two rushed us out.. Carlos provided the post care that I was expecting from the Veterinarian and her nurse assistant? Not sure, her position but they were both courteous and did their jobs, but next time, regardless of the time of day or appearance of a pet owner, please provide the same care that you would to all owners & don't RUSH them out just so you can go home early.. Thank you again, Carlos!

Experiencia negativa: Really frustrated with Sunshine Animal Hospital and won’t be returning here. If you have cats, they don’t care about them here so don’t bring them here. 1st incident was un Aug of 2023. My female cat had a uti and I took her to urgent care first because it happened over the weekend. Urgent care did a shot and told me to follow up with vet. Took her here and doctor Allison told me there was no indication of a uti. A week later I bring her in again because of uti symptoms and finally dr Allison does a urine test and tells me I was right about the uti. The last incident was Dec 3, 2024. My MALE cat started showing the same uti symptoms my female cat had (going in and out of the bathroom in short periods of time). I took him to Dr Mark just because of my experience with Dr Allison. Dr Mark also dismissed me and said there was no indication of a uti. He took a urine sample because I asked him to and there was no uti. However in males, uti symptoms are actually blockage symptoms which I came to find out a month later. My male cat ended up in the ER and I was told that the blockage did not happen from night to day. It built up over the course of when he started with the symptoms. Had Dr Mark even mentioned it to me we would have avoided a bladder rupture.

They are all healing well from their neutering surgery and teeth cleaning on Friday. I really appreciated your patience when I found out that our Care Credit card had been cancelled because we had not used it in quite some time and I had to call them to apply again to be able to get the payment with the 6 month interest free financing. Also your pricing is extremely reasonable which is helpful as I am on disability and my income is limited. Look forward to you all caring for the boys moving forward. Definitely recommend this business to anyone wanting good care for your pets at a reasonable cost.

Experiencia negativa: This clinic in Tampa, which is my dog's clinic, said they could not operate and contacted a vet in Dade City, where I drove for an hour to drop my dog that needed a hernia surgery. This Tampa clinic however did blood work and x ray for a value of $900.00. I picked up my dog next day at Dade City around 4:30 pm and died in my wife's arms by 8:30 pm. After a total bill of over $4000.00 we lost our beloved dog. Our opinion is that all they, both clinics, are after is the money. We were told the dog was doing fine, but obviously this wasnt true. Our dog had two hughe cuts in her belly, keep in mind that Luna was a small 10 lbs dog. It may be just a dog to them, but for us was family. We, two kids included, are still recovering from this lost.

Experiencia negativa: I was referred to this facility by a family member, hoping for a good experience while boarding my dog. However, I was overwhelmed by the aggressive upselling tactics upon arrival—being offered multiple tests, vaccinations, and allergy treatments felt more like a hard sell than genuine care. Unfortunately, my concerns were validated when, after picking up my dog for the first time, I discovered she had developed a UTI and was urinating blood. I decided to give them another chance this past weekend, but again faced pressure to pay for two additional exams totaling $300, which I had to push back against. After picking up my dog, I noticed she could barely open one eye. When my wife called just 20 minutes later, they insisted she didn’t leave that way. We returned for them to assess the issue, but this resulted in an additional $90 charge for testing and eye drops. Overall, I was left deeply disappointed with the service and treatment at this facility. The only positives I can mention are their convenient location and flexible hours. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning to this establishment.

Experiencia positiva: I was sticker shocked at the total cost of visit $736. I am under cancer treatment and have never paid this amount for a single visit, even while having chemotherapy. As I am living on Social Security alone, I can not afford this. My cat is almost 18 years old and I will give her the most comfortable care I can afford. However, I am unable to afford the prices at Sunshine Animal Clinic.

Experiencia negativa: I had the absolute worst experience and I will not be taking my Ragdolls back. I’ve never seen my cats so scared and miserable for a routine visit. They took them in another room where there were dogs and I could hear them crying and screaming from the room I was in. I have two older Ragdolls and all of them are super chill and loving. There’s just no reason to have such a horrible visit.

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my cat, Leloh in for a dental and mass removal a couple months ago. The staff and vets were wonderful and put my anxiety at ease when scheduling a surgery. During our visit my favorite part was when Dr. Bodnar said “Are you sure this cat is 14? I would have guessed he was about 7”. We went ahead with the surgery and Leloh healed up very nicely. The office called to check on him and see how he was doing and I could tell they really cared, especially Shannon. A little more than a week ago, I woke up and went to his room to feed him his breakfast and found that he had very unexpectedly passed away on the ground. While I was an absolute wreck, my partner asked, “What should I do?” And I immediately replied “Call Sunshine”. They did not make us wait for an appointment and had us bring him in right away. Dr, Bodnar was not in that day but Dr. Mark came into the exam room and answered any questions we might have had about what happened. He assured me that Leloh looked to be in great health and that sometimes these things just happen at no one’s fault. Days later I received a card with a note from Dr. Mark reminding me of exactly what I needed to hear. That it’s nothing I did and I cared for him the best I possibly could. He is in peace forever now. Thank you, Sunshine Animal Hospital for everything. ♥️

Experiencia fantástica: My family has been going to Sunshine for years and have always had a great experience. All of the staff are friendly and very compassionate! I wouldn’t go anywhere else!
