Capital Veterinary Specialists, Jax: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: The entire staff at CVS are exceptional! From Tiffaney at reception to the Techs ~ Nikki, Teresa, & Salena to Dr. Vansickle, Dr. Bloom, and Dr. Hartfield who all treated my 13 yr old Kitty, Finxie, for a severe UTI and recurring diabetes. These doctors are truly Angels on earth. I really needed the calm, attentive, and compassionate demeanor Dr. Vansickle provided after arriving from our regular Vet's office. Each doctor called daily with updates, discussed her treatment plan, and encouraged me to visit her during her 2 night/3 day stay. Now, after 2 weeks of oral antibiotics and going back to 2x daily insulin shots, Finxie is thriving. We're so grateful for the incredible care she was given. Thank you all for doing what you do, every day!
Experiencia fantástica: Awesome experience with Capital Vet Specialists! Dr. Hartfield saw our French bulldog and quickly determined there was likely a foreign object in our pup’s GI tract. He had been vomiting, refusing food (even peanut butter) and had diarrhea after our regular vet did not see any obstruction on the X-rays. We are so grateful to Dr. Hartfield for her expertise and guidance during a very stressful time.
Experiencia fantástica: Compassionate, caring at most amazing internal veterinary medicine doctor I’ve ever met. Highly recommend.
Experiencia fantástica: I have had two fur babies go in for emergency care and one to see the heart specialist. It’s not always cheap to get the emergency care they need which makes it easy to look at it negatively but they saved my dobie that needed a blood transfusion because she was anemic. And when today, my newest edition puppy jumped out of a shopping cart as I was trying to clip her in seemingly to injure her neck, Even though she was acting pretty normal, they checked her out and deemed that she was fine and just needed rest and didn’t even charge me to check her out. I know I am lucky they were fine and made it but I am thankful for the staff that made that happen!
Experiencia fantástica: Veterinarians were competent and helpful. Very much pleased with the service that was given.
Experiencia fantástica: Awesome staff, they really care and do everything in their power to help your babies in the right way. So appreciative and thankful for them and all they do.
Experiencia fantástica: Capital Vet is amazing!! They have helped many of my fur babies over the years and have always provided the absolute best care. The staff is wonderful! Knowledgeable and compassionate.
Experiencia negativa: My little 5lb Yorkie unfortunately passed away at this vet clinic due to uncontrollable seizures. I chose to get my dog cremated and paid extra for clay paw prints, ink nose and ink paw prints. Upon picking up her remains and the clay paw prints and ink, the clay paw prints I received are much larger paws than my Yorkie had. It breaks my heart every time I look at them. I just know they aren’t hers because her paws were never that large. It makes me wonder if I ever even got her ashes back or if the ashes I have are to another dog. My heart is broken and I just wish I could confidently say that the ashes and paw prints I have are hers, but I cannot.
Experiencia fantástica: My boy jumped off the couch too hard and aggravated his disc disease. I used the 24 services at midnight, and was in and out in under 2 hours with meds in hand. The vet and staff are wonderful!!!
Experiencia fantástica: Capital Veterinary Specialists in Jacksonville provided exceptional care for our dog, Molly. She underwent a TPLO surgery, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. The surgery went very well, and Molly is recovering beautifully. Dr. McCarthy and the entire staff were incredibly kind, professional, and attentive. From the initial consultation through surgery and recovery, they communicated clearly about what to expect every step of the way, which gave us a lot of peace of mind. It’s obvious that they truly care about their patients and treat them like family. We are so grateful for the excellent care they gave our girl and would highly recommend them to anyone needing specialized veterinary care
Experiencia fantástica: So pleased with my experience with this clinic. My weiner had stage 4 IVDD. They got him in for same day surgery. They are so kind. You can visit your furbaby at any hour of the day. They call with updates. The surgeon even calls with updates. Once you go home they call to check on your furbaby. My furbaby is progressing nicely and I pray I never need their services again but it's a comfort to know they are there 24/7.
Experiencia fantástica: I wanted to brag about Capital. We took our dog there last weekend for abdominal pain and found out he was covered in cancer. We decided to put him down. They allowed us to spend lots of time with our dog. They had a front room with lots of treats and was set up very cozy. When it came time to put him down the gave him propofol to calm him before they gave him the medication to stop his heart. He was so peaceful. About 3 days later we received a card from the clinic with a nose print and paw print. My kids loved seeing this. It was so very thoughtful. A few days after that we received his ashes. The box is so nice. It also came with hair clippings and a hard paw print. So thoughtful. Everything was so nice, as nice as it could be. They went above and beyond.
Experiencia fantástica: We had a very positive experience with Capital Vet. Our cat had an emergency visit and everyone was so compassionate and caring. The issue was resolved.
Experiencia fantástica: I wanted to say thank you to the amazing staff at Capital Veterinary Specialists. Your kindness and compassion for our Wrigley was extraordinary! We would especially like to thank Dr. VanSickle for her patience and helping us to navigate what’s was best for our boy. At a time when we were scared and unsure you were there to help and guide us. Thank you to Dr. McCarthy for his expert and steady hands. Thanks to you we get to take our Wrigley home where he will hopefully live a long and healthy life. To the front staff, vet techs and nurses who cared for him during this time, we appreciate you all so much. Thank you will never be enough.
Experiencia fantástica: We recently made a late night weekend visit to Capital Veterinary Specialists with our male cat, Poppy, who was experiencing his 3rd complete urinary blockage this year. He was admitted and we decided to go ahead with a PU surgery which was performed the very next day by Dr McCarthy. The entire team was fantastic! Both Dr Takacs and Dr VanSickle were informative, compassionate and knowledgeable getting us through the acute emergent stage and helping us decide which route to take. Dr McCarthy answered all my questions regarding the surgery (before and after) and is an incredibly skilled surgeon. The staff always greet with warm smiles and friendly gestures. A specialty such as theirs comes with a price, however, in the event you may need them, your furry loved ones are guaranteed top notch care!
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. VanSickle and Dr. Pegarsch saved my baby. I truly believe if I'd taken him anywhere else what was wrong with him - a congenital problem that is very rare in cats - wouldn't have been caught until it was too late. This is also the only vet office I've ever been to that didn't make me feel like my financial constraints meant I didn't love my pet. They made things easy to understand and helped me take things one step at a time so my baby could get the help he needed. Now he has a fighting chance he might not have had otherwise. On top of that, the techs and office staff were all incredibly kind and professional. As scary as it was to leave him hospitalized for three days, I never doubted for a moment he was in loving, capable hands. There's no place else I'd rather go with an emergency. If they offered it they'd be my primary in a heartbeat.
Experiencia fantástica: As far too emotionally attached dog owner I was in a bit of a panic on a Sunday at 5pm… my dog had an issue (which in reality was probably not an emergency but I got the dog mom panic) anyways… I arrived and was greeted by Tiffaney who made the check in and our process smoothly; and has wonderful customer service skills. She informed me of their policies clearly and early. We were taken back into a little waiting room, mind you the facility was super clean and nice. Theresa (not sure of the spelling!) assisted with the initial inspection of my dog, and she was so gentle and kind with Noodle. You can tell she has a heart for her job! She also discussed my care options with full transparency so there were no surprises in what I would be paying as emergency visits are typically a bit more expensive. The Dr. Bloom (I’m so sorry I forgot your name!) was incredibly professional and reassuring, she gave me some information about senior dogs and things to look out for/expect as she is about to enter senior territory. Overall, amazing experience, and I totally suggest you go if you ever need to.
Experiencia fantástica: I am not one who normally rates services I receive however, unless something is so outstanding that I feel others should know about it, so they and their beloved pets may benefit. My dog Kobe, who weighs 100 pounds, recently had TPLO surgery and a hard recovery ahead of him. Needless to say, I was very apprehensive. The day he was discharged, Dr. McCarthy showed us before and after xrays of the procedure and took the time to explain everything, including the post op instructions. He was patient, caring and thorough. The entire staff was professional and pleasant and a pleasure to work with. The teamwork was exemplary. They have my highest rating.
Experiencia fantástica: Our puppy unfortunately has cancer and we were referred to Capital Vet to get CT scans and consult. This is a very caring group of people and were caring and professional from the moment we walked in through checkout after all tests were completed. Dr. McCarthy was so patient and calming even given these upsetting times for us. He outlined options and was thoughtful in how he shared information regarding those options. He answered every question we had very thoughtfully. Thank you. Thank you everyone at Capital Veterinary for doing what you do.
Experiencia fantástica: The staff was kind and compassion while handling every aspect of my pets emergent care.
Experiencia negativa: I don't know if they have changed but my experience was years ago. At the time I was the type of person who did not do negative reviews. But now, I am a stronger person and I want to tell the truth. They seemed to care about money more than my cat. After blood tests and Xrays, by my regular vet, Red was diagnosed with cancer. My vet recommended Capital vet in Tallahassee. But I thought the two places were affiliated. They aren't. After doing their own tests, they said that they could help him. They really did nothing but take $6,000 to $7,000 of my money, in advance. Before they did any treatment. Treatment was some pills and being hooked up to a feeding catheter. My cat wanted to die after that. He would sit in the middle of the road. They cut Red open and called me in the middle of surgery and said that there was nothing they could do. That even with surgery that he would die soon. They should have been able to tell me that before. They gave me back a dead cat and maybe a $1,000. I hope that they have changed.
Experiencia fantástica: I want to express my sincere gratitude to the entire staff at this practice! A special thank you to Sarah, Brenda and Jesse for helping us during our last visit. I truly believe our dog is thriving today because of the knowledge, dedication and services provided here. My family thanks you and appreciates you! Happy Holidays! ❤️
Experiencia fantástica: I traveled all the way from Ocala for a specialist. My sweet boy was diagnosed with a terminal cancer, and the staff was extraordinary. So professional when delivering the news, and so caring and supportive as I broke down in the office. If I lived in the area, the would 100% be my primary veterinary provider. Absolutely phenomenal.
Experiencia negativa: Revised.... I spoke w mr Ruiz who assured me that this is not how they conduct business. I was very pleased w the outcome of our conversation. Im sure being informed verbally about everything helped him formulate a greater team to save our fur babies at night since they are 1 of 2 animal ERs. I appreciate your time MrRuiz. Im writing a review because I haven't heard from anyone to report this story further or feel that i was clearly heard. My cat got grabbed up by a dog. My neighbor whose dog it was rushed my cat to capital.... they called me very soon after he got there(not enough time passed to do any testing) for a discussion of potential treatment but to let me know (very specific) my cat has flale chest and 4 Yes 4 broken ribs (again w no xray or testing) and he is gonna die if I don't give Dr Gray 4k... which is 75% down from the 6k she demanded or SHE will uthenize out baby. (6mo old American short) Dr Gray... (this same day we learned that my best friend was gonna get her organs cut out of her body.).. I was exhausted from bad news... and she didnt flinch to be humane. She told me for 6 hours straight my cat will get killed with out the 4k...oooor. I can sign him over to stand in line for her next cat murder. Dr VanSickle you are a star. She gave me my kitty and wished me luck... I will never return here unless they get rid of gray and I will share this story till IM blue in the face so your animals dont get murdered by the heartless Gray.
Experiencia fantástica: I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire team and management here. On 11/11, our home caught fire and we tragically lost one of our beloved cats. Our new kitten was rescued by first responders with burns on her paws, whiskers, and eyes. she had to be revived on scene. Thanks to the quick actions of our neighbors who rushed her to this clinic, and the incredible care she received from the staff, she is healing and doing so much better today. ❤️❤️❤️ eating and playing The compassion, urgency, and professionalism shown by every person here meant the world to us during the worst moment of our lives. This team was absolutely amazing, responsive, comforting, and truly dedicated to saving our little girl. We are forever grateful.
Experiencia negativa: Went there one night for my kitten and it was Expensive $170 just for them to put a lil cream on my kittens paw and give him a shot , I didn’t get any meds or anything to take home to care for him nor any paperwork on letting me know what they did and what all they gave him . Definitely a scam
Experiencia fantástica: We live where there is no emergency or overnight services and were recommended to go to Capital Veterinary Specialist. Our 14 year old golden doodle had a mass on her spleen with the prognosis of the spleen rupturing as it grew. After Dr. McCarthy exam and imaged her, he agreed that the spleen needed to be removed which he did the next week with great results. Dr. McCarthy is one of those vets that down on the floor with your dog and the staff is so pleasant and understanding. They also follow up after your pet goes home. We can not thank them enough.
Experiencia fantástica: We've see Capital for two TPLO surgeries and both times were really great. Dr. Darrow was our first surgeon in 2022 and Dr. McCarthy was our most recent surgeon in September 2023. Their team Corie, Teresa, Sam and Bethany were all so kind with Lottie and answered all of my questions - I ask dozens of questions whenever the pup needs medical attention and they were really patient and knowledgeable. Lottie is in her 6th week of recovery and we just had a great report from Dr. McCarthy, who also answers every question and was available via text whenever I had concerns or wanted to send progress reports. I rec Capital to everyone.
Experiencia fantástica: I can’t say enough good things about them. I’ve used them as an emergency vet 3x with 3 separate animals. Last night I had to put my boy down. Nothing that anyone could’ve done. They were extremely compassionate and did everything that they could for me. Thank you Capital. I know you see the worst of the worst and I really thank you for still sticking to it and being there for the animals and their owners. Thank you for being amazing to my Tiny mans.
Experiencia negativa: Capital…ist! This business is all about the money. Make no mistake, you may have to sign your house over to them before any treatment is provided. They are a rip off, just like most veterinarian services are….its all about $$$$$
Experiencia fantástica: Capital Vet is the BEEEEESSSSTTTTT!!!!! I love them so much. And btw my girl is about to be 16 in 4 months now, when she was facing being put down.. Cap Vet saved her. Thank yall for everything!!!!!! Added new pic (from what I see the last one) she’s very comfortable cuz of Cap Vet!!!! Tytytyty ===> (past review)Without yall.. a year and a half ago.. she wouldn’t have celebrated her 15th bday.. and she is.. I can’t appreciate yall enough. She’s so happy and healthy. She only needed a lil bit of help and yall provided that. Yall are truly a blessing for me and ultimately for her. Thank you
Experiencia fantástica: I’m amazing staff that took care of my baby after being attacked, saved his life and were super concerned about him
We’re so happy to hear your little one is recovering well! ❤️ Thank you for trusting our team during such a difficult moment — we’re honored to have helped him heal and get back to feeling like himself.
— The Capital team
Experiencia fantástica: My experience here is a 10/10. I came in a very vulnerable time but the staff were so kind. I ended up putting my dog down and I couldn’t have asked for the best staff to help me with my situation. They’re kind & caring people! Thank you guys so much!
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Apollo listen carefully to what we shared about the condition facing our standard poodle. She was patient, calm and thorough. The end result was appropriate treatment.
Experiencia fantástica: Staff (Carrie and Vanessa) were very kind about treating my pit mix. We brought him in for a limp that started the day before and miraculously healed when we got to the parking lot. They examined him anyway and were great about dealing with him being leash reactive. I knew wait times were a possibility, but I called ahead and worked oit a game plan with them. Thank you so much.
Experiencia fantástica: Our dog was bitten by a cat and our vet office was closed. The staff at Capital were AMAZING - from the phone call to inquire about brining him in, to the level of care and support they showed for him and the rest of our concerned family! Other than having to be there at all - I couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you so much for your immediate attention and warm care for our little Papillon who swallowed too much dental floss. I highly recommend Capital Veterinary Specialists for any Pet Emergency Care you need. Our Puppy is safe thanks to your care.
Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommend Capital Veterinary Specialists, JAX. Our family dog "Angel" had a growth on her paw that had to be removed. Due to her age the vet told us they were concerned she would not survive the procedure due to the anesthesia, and they recommended we take her to Capital Veterinary Specialist on Hartley Rd. We consulted with Dr. McCarthy and immediately knew Angel would be in the best hands possible to help her. Angel had the surgery the very next morning and was home with us that evening. We felt the care that was provided by Dr. McCarthy and his staff was amazing. Dr. McCarthy, thank you so much for performing the surgery and allowing Angel to have much better quality of life. GEAUX TIGERS!
Experiencia fantástica: The staff and doctors were absolutely amazing through my dogs whole process from diagnosing, to surgery and aftercare/checkups. They’re willingness and genuine concern for my pets well-being was evident in her successful recovery. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a veterinary specialist!
Experiencia negativa: On Monday 8/25 2am I brought in my cat, Niles, who I’ve had since I was 10 years old. He was having a multitude of health issues, and stopped being able to walk and was struggling to breathe. This was easily the worst night of my life. The staff on duty this night were beyond my expectations, the doctor gave me so much reassurance in saying my baby passed in my arms at arrival and not scared on the hospital bed. She let me sit in a room with him and say goodbye, and had the receptionist go over our options for cremation. They handled the situation with so much care and I couldn’t have been more appreciative. Thank you Eva and Dr. Hanna. On Monday 8/25 8:30pm I called and asked if they were able to save one of his whiskers for me. The woman on the phone advised me she could not locate my cat in the system and thought I had the wrong place, because the only pet coming up was my dog who I brought in 2024. I also would like to add I spelled my cat’s name multiple times, emphasizing “N as in Nancy” for Niles. I gave her my information 3x, and she was able to locate Niles information, and told me that she would merge the accounts and it wouldn’t be an issue again. She also informed me he was taken to Pet Angels Memorial Services overnight. I also want to add she was very empathetic and kind. On Wednesday 8/27 1:36pm I called for a status update on his remains, because of the account confusion I was very anxious they wouldn’t be able to pull up my account again. The woman I spoke to was not as helpful as the prior in fact she was dismissive, asked me if they called, I advised not yet, she told me to wait for a call and if they didn’t reach me they’d leave a voicemail. She told me the dates of upcoming shipments. On Friday 8/29 3:50 I called, again for a status update, and got the same woman on the line from Wednesday. She was dismissive, I told her I was anxious about it and even apologized for being persistent, and she did not look up the account just told me to wait for a call. On Tuesday 9/2 9:08pm I called later intentionally to speak with anyone other than her, no answer. On Wednesday 9/3 8:35pm I called and got Sarah, the kindest person I’ve spoken with over the phone yet. She looked up the account and the same issue happened, she could only see the account for my dog. It took multiple attempts for her to find my cat’s information. She told me they had his remains and she was so empathetic and understanding of why I was so anxious as it’s now been well over a week since I dropped him off and can’t seem to get an ETA. On Wednesday 9/3 10pm I get to the office to pick up his remains, paw print, and fur. Pet Angels Memorial put together a very sweet package. I asked her when the remains were dropped off, and she advised me it was Wednesday 8/27. I received no call or voicemail as promised, and was repeatedly dismissed. Sarah was so apologetic and listened to my experience, took down the times I called, and assured me the owner Christy would be in touch with me about my experience. On Saturday 9/6 9pm I go to my mailbox and receive the kindest letter imaginable. However, after all this, his name was spelled wrong. It has Miles written all over it. The staff who wrote it are so kind and sweet, but it did feel like salt in the wound after all the rest. It’s now Monday 9/8. I never did hear back from management. I’m extremely disappointed that management didn’t take 10 minutes out of their day to acknowledge my experience. The person who dismissed me multiple times instead of looking up my account resulting in my cat’s remains being left unclaimed for an entire week needs to be held accountable. A week unclaimed when I desperately needed them has left me angry, hurt, and disgusted. I didn’t get an explanation on why I wasn’t contacted when they arrived. Shame on this person, and shame on management for not contacting me. This location needs more Sarahs, Evas, and Dr. Hannas.
Experiencia fantástica: The staff here was so helpful and understanding when my dog collapsed in the parking lot. They were very up front about his care and the potential cost, as well as his likely prognosis. They let me say goodbye in my own time and were very compassionate.
Experiencia fantástica: The vet I use saw my Corgi on Wednesday before the Labor Day weekend. Corgi was diagnosed with parasite Giardia. Vet called Thursday afternoon to check on my Corgi. My Corgi was still not eating and was lethargic. Vet office said the vet was gone for the day and would be closed Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon (Labor Day). Vet office said: if I want to take him to another vet, they could email my Corgis records to me. I received the records. Thursday night and Friday morning my Corgis condition worsened. Without any guidance from my vets office, I googled pet er office. Capital Vet had outstanding reviews. I called ahead, explained his condition and was told to bring him in right away. I was met with a very friendly, knowledgeable and caring staff. Capital Veterinary check-in was easy and uncomplicated. They listened to my concerns that he had not eaten much since Tuesday morning and that I was unable to give give him meds without food intake. They admitted him for 24 hours and started an IV with fluids. Besides fluids, the IV contained meds to fight the parasite, ease pain and anxiety. They told me I could call or stop by anytime to check on him. Returning 10 hours later, my Corgi was resting comfortably. He had not eaten. The staff answered all my questions and explained his condition and treatment plan. When I called in the early morning hourson Saturday morning, I was told that Technician Ash had gotten my Corgi to eat some plain white chicken. I was overjoyed. When I called on Saturday morning, I was told my Corgi was able to keep the chicken down and he had a bowel movement. At home on Sunday and Monday, my Corgi has greatly improved and almost back to his old self. I cannot express my gratitude to the ALL the Office Staff, ALL the Veterinarian Technicians and All the Veterinarians who took care of my Corgi. I know this review is lengthy. I hope it helps the reader make a decision on your pet's care, especially in an emergency situation. Capital Veterinary Specialist is better than outstanding.
Experiencia fantástica: They made my passing of my baby boy Brodie a seamless and very caring time for us in his time of need and suffering. They showed empathy and compassion. High recommend
Experiencia fantástica: We had an incredible experience at Capital Veterinary Specialists and Animal ER. We arrived at 6 am on a Saturday morning and were seen immediately by a compassionate and caring team. The vet was amazing. She took the time to explain everything to me for over 20 minutes, breaking down the diagnosis and all the treatment options. She was empathetic and genuinely cared about my pup. The price was also incredibly reasonable for an emergency visit, and I was touched when she told me we could come back later that day if we were worried without paying another appointment fee. The clinic was clean, conveniently located, and the entire team was just fantastic. So grateful to have such a wonderful place nearby!
Experiencia fantástica: I so wish I could give more stars. I was recommended this hospital by Dr Huitt from Chimney Lakes Animal Hospital. I had used Dr Huitt for my dog Saoirse when she needed ACL surgery on her left leg 3 years ago. I also reached out to friends and had some that had taken there dog to the same place and had nothing but outstanding things to say about the place and the staff especially Dr McCarthy. He pointed me toward Dr McCarthy and his clinic for a different type surgery when she tor the right ACL. I scheduled a consultation and was in very quickly (3 days after may call) The staff there was great! From the receptionist who greeted us all the way through to the surgery team and Dr McCarthy. They took my girl back and got her radiographs done very quickly and did not need to sedate her to do so. Within a few minutes the Xrays were on the screen and Dr McCarthy came in with her and one of the surgical techs, Corie to explain what he was able to see. 50% tear in the ACl. He explained everything to us about the TPLO surgery and what to expect over the former style of lateral suture, which she had done on her left leg. My research on the surgery prior to seeing him was good but the way he explained each step and what was the expected outcome was so much better. We scheduled the surgery for that following Monday and they kept me updated on everything. They did keep her overnight but told me that even after the surgery when she came out of the anesthesia she was wanting to play and go. Course they did not let her but it was good to know she was taken so well care of that she was acting like nothing happened. After picking her up and getting all the instructions for her rehab and making sure I understood what to do, when to give her her meds and what each one is for I was told to call or text if I had any questions. I did end up having a few more questions a few days later and they were there to answer. I cannot say enough good things about Dr McCarthy or the surgical team Corie, Teresa, Bethany, and Sam. They took such great care of my girl and showed her all the love she needed/wanted while there. If, God forbid, I need any other surgical needs they will be my first stop. Thank you guys again for all you have done for our girl.
Experiencia fantástica: This morning my kitten, Leo, hurt his leg, and we had to rush to the veterinary emergency room. From the moment we arrived, the entire team made a scary situation so much easier. Tiffany and Teresa at the front desk were warm, reassuring, and efficient in getting us checked in. Dr. Apollo was wonderful — thorough, compassionate, and clear in explaining everything to me. They quickly performed x-rays, provided pain management, and treated my kitten with such kindness. I left feeling confident in the care he received. I’m so grateful for the entire staff and highly recommend them to anyone in need of urgent veterinary care.
Experiencia fantástica: Our sweet 8 and a half year old Australian Shepherd Dixie received the best care at Capital. She could barely walk and refused to eat for 2 days when we brought her in. She stayed overnight for 2 days. The doctors were in constant communication with me and diagnosed her with Addison’s and started the appropriate treatment. Since we brought her home she is back to her sweet and fun personality after only a couple days. Special thanks to Dr. Apolo for her frequent updates and overall brilliance in diagnosing this difficult to diagnose disease.
Experiencia fantástica: Our cat Tigger received the best of care. The doctors and staff communicated regularly and worked diligently to bring him back to his normal self.
Experiencia fantástica: We cannot say enough great things about CVS Jax! Dr. McCarthy and the entire team took amazing care of our dog Gabby the last few years. They were loving, kind, empathetic and never made us feel rushed or a burden when we had questions or concerns about our girl. Gabby recently passed and the team sent us a beautiful card with thoughtful handwritten notes. They go above and beyond for YOU and your fur-babies. We are grateful for all the care they provided our girl in her last few months.
Experiencia fantástica: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If I could give 10 stars, I would! Dr. Daniel McCarthy and his staff at Capital Veterinary Specialists JAX are absolutely amazing! This was the second time our big boy Tank had to have surgery, and both times we received outstanding care. From the first visit to every follow-up call, the team showed nothing but professionalism, compassion, and genuine love for our pup. Dr. McCarthy took the time to clearly explain every step of the process—from what was going on, to the details of the surgery, and how to care for Tank afterward. His calm and thorough communication gave us so much peace of mind. The entire staff made us feel supported and cared for, and the way they treated Tank made all the difference. We are so thankful for the exceptional care and attention he received. I highly recommend Capital Veterinary Specialists JAX to anyone needing trusted, expert care for their pets. Thank you again for taking such great care of our boy!
Experiencia negativa: I should’ve check the reviews before going here. I use to live in mandarin and everyone I encountered said nothing good about this place. I had a unexpected emergency C-section for my Frenchie in the middle of the night, needless to say she died after being under anesthesia for god knows how long and then instead of taking the puppies to save some memories of my fur baby they let the puppies go without air for 5 minutes and they died. All 5… seems like no one had experience whatsoever
Experiencia fantástica: We had an amazing experience with this Vet, we brought our cat into the emergency clinic and due to past experiences at other clinics, I have high anxiety with how people handle my cats. They were so accommodating and any time they removed her from my sight they reassured me of how they would handle her. My cat doesn’t like strangers, but she had little to no issue letting them examine and hold her, which really shows how gentle and kind they were to her. Once we left she immediately seemed like she felt better! It’s also worth mentioning that at no point did they make us feel pressured, or judged.
Experiencia negativa: Daisy woke at 2am screaming in pain. Drove to Hartley road, at first looked like lights were off as if it was closed. We got out walked in chick at counter was only other person in there. After a few minutes she walked us to a room said she’d be right back. Came in asked if we could come back in 4 hours as they were packed and why didn’t we call before we came?!?!? There was literally no one else there!! My dog was having a panic attack at this point and we walked right back out the door. IF MY DOG IS IN DISTRESS CRYING IN PAIN I AM NOT GOING TO STOP AND CALL AROUND IN AN EMERGENCY!!! If you value your pet DO NOT TAKE THEM TO THIS PLACE!!!
Experiencia negativa: We took our dog here because he started acting like his back was hurt. Rear legs were weak and he was whimpering when he'd stand up from lying down. His regular vet was in surgery all day, so we went to Capitol. The tech took down the info we gave her and took him back to see the vet. When the vet returned, she said, "Yes he is definitely sore", and as we talked i had to correct her several times about the facts we'd given the vet tech. I'd expected them to xray him, but she said they didn't because he was so sore. Well doh. Doesn't an ER Vet know how to manage an xray on an injured dog, much less one who is "sore"? She prescribed some gabapentin, but didn't offer any other definitive diagnosis. (Of course without an xray, how could she) Capitol Vet used to be our go-to er but not any more. They seem to have changed hands and the doctors are all different... our pup is zoned out on gabapentin, and still not moving well. We'll be seeing our regular vet in the morning to get xrays and find out what's going on.
Experiencia fantástica: These people are the best. We had to say goodbye to our first dog & they walked us through everything. They were kind, gracious & empathetic. We got his ashes back quickly & they even sent us a card with their condolences & his nose & paw prints. They made the hardest moment of our life a little easier. RIP my handsome boy Diesel
Experiencia fantástica: Our toy poodle had eaten a baby back rib on Friday evening and was showing signs of distress Saturday morning. Our vet was closed so I called Capital Veterinary. They were great! I spoke with Dr. Apollo who recommended we bring her in for x-rays. The staff was very nice and patient. Tiffany was the receptionist on duty and she took very good care of us. Once the x-rays were reviewed Dr. Apollo discussed the options available to us. I was very pleased with the office, the staff, and doctors. We will definitely use this emergency veterinary if ever we need emergency services in the future (which we hope we don’t!).
Experiencia fantástica: Team is absolutely amazing!! Dr. McCarthy is very attractive and we highly recommend! Thank for helping with our Bandits leg/knee.
Experiencia negativa: If you're looking for an animal clinic that says they take care of toxic ingestion, but only does blood test instead of a toxicity test, this is your place!! I went there because my dog was acting different. They came up with excuses for the way he was acting. Almost a $600 ER bill and they told me nothing was the manner with my precious dog. Later that night, he puked, and then was unconscious for over 4 hours, i surely wasn't bringing my precious dog back to that place. I just made sure he was breathing okay, i could not get him to wake up.He was unconscious... i told them many times I thought somebody poisoned my dog again.. they looked at me like I was insane... just because I'm autistic level one, it doesn't mean I'm stupid. It means I can't communicate properly. I'm glad my dog didn't die because they sure didn't help him!! I'll never go there again, my dog is around me 24/7 i know when he has an issue!!
Experiencia fantástica: I can’t thank Dr. Estrada enough for the care and compassion she showed during one of the hardest moments of my life. Saying goodbye to my sweet Misty was the most painful experience I’ve ever had, but Dr. Estrada made it as gentle and peaceful as possible. She treated Misty with such tenderness and love, like she was her own. The way she spoke to her, the care she took in every step it meant the world to me. She hugged me and made me feel like family in a moment where I felt completely broken. There are no words to express how grateful I am. I couldn’t have asked for a more kind, patient, and loving person to be there with us. Thank you, Dr. Estrada, for giving Misty the dignity she deserved and for giving me comfort when I needed it most.
Experiencia fantástica: Wishing I did not have to write this review, but I do want to share my honest experience of our recent visit to Capital Vet Specialists. I called the clinic at 1:30am after we found our sweet girl so sick. It is a 24/7 ER and the first one that picked up their lines. They were upfront on costs from the start letting us know they it is 188 for the vet to evaluate here. We rushed to the hospital and as soon as we arrived they jumped into action. The nurse came charging out and carried my baby girl back. They immediately started doing what they could to help. Throughout the 18 hours my girl was in their care they exhibited clear, honest, and transparent communication. From the start, the gave us an estimate on what we could expect cost wise. I appreciated how they gave us the highest range, so we could get the worry of cost out of the way. They do this so that they don't need to keep calling asking if they can do x,y,z. Anything they don't need, they refund to you. When health tragedy is at hand, no one wants to be worried about cost and I think they have a great system for maintaining a clear process on payments. I want to give special thank you to the night Vet Dr. Izeman or Eisman ( i dont know the proper spelling). He showed us great empathy and compassion and treated my girl with the utmost care. I am heartbroken to share that we lost my bestfriend, but I do want to acknowledge that Dr. Izeman and his nurses gave us the the space we needed and helped us each step of the way. Although I hope you never need to, I would certainly recommend brining your fur babies here for any overnight emergency.
Experiencia fantástica: This veterinary hospital was amazing. All of the staff from veterinaries, nurses, and front desk staff were outstanding! They took very care of our baby who came in in critical condition! They did everything to save him and thanks to their efforts our baby is still with us!
Experiencia negativa: I originally wasn’t going to write a review, because upon paying my bill I told them it was a horrible experience. But they sent me an email and requested that I write a review, so here it is. On Monday, June 9th, I called for an appointment for my dog, because he drank well water that was dripping from a leaking pipe. I was advised they don’t make appointments, everything is on a walk in basis. We immediately came in and waited in the lobby area for approximately 20 minutes before we were brought back to a waiting room. We were in the waiting room for about another hour and a half before a vet tech came in to get the details about our case and she took our dog to another room to take his vitals. She brought our dog back and said the doctor would be in shortly. We waited another hour for the doctor to show up. Our dog required bloodwork, we waited for the vet tech to come back….when she did, she said we should have the results within 10 minutes. It took TWO HOURS to get the results. The doctor finally came back in and recommended what medications our dog should be prescribed and it would take about 10 minutes to get it done. Another hour went by and I asked someone what the hold up was, I was told “Oh, she will be right with you, she’s just coming in now.” What do you mean she’s just coming in now? Where did she go? This whole ordeal lasted over four hours. This is just not a good way to run a business. Lesson learned, I called my regular vet and got the name and contact information of another emergency vet if and when needed. I will say, the ladies at the front desk are very professional and do the best they can. Kudos to them. The service here is horrible. Don’t waste your time.
Experiencia negativa: This place is money hungry and DISGUSTING. My family dog who is 16 years old and clearly suffering and dying was REFUSED to be put down by the vet. Instead they told us he just needed an “IV” and CHARGED us $180. This place has ZERO compassion towards animals and their owners especially when they are on their death bed. They just want your money. DO NOT EVER GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS.
Experiencia fantástica: Expeditious assessment and care of my injured baby girl!! “Whiskey” was quickly checked in and evaluated by Dr. Takacs, our girl is now back to normal running and playing.
Experiencia fantástica: My good boy Tebow got into the trash and ate something that didn't agree with him. He was panting a lot, drooling, and very slow and lethargic. I immediately called Capital Veterinary and brought him in. They were not only professional and courteous, but they truly care about your fur-kids. They advised to keep him with them overnight, fluids/pain meds, prebiotic, and rest was the plan. It was my first time without him at home, so I was pretty anxious about my best buddy. The next morning, Dr. Takacs,DVM informed me Tebow was better and he could go home. I can't thank the staff enough how thankful I am for taking good care of him. Highly recommend this clinic for any pet emergencies, plus they are open 24 hrs, huge plus for our sick fur-kids. Thank you to all involved with my good boy's care.
Experiencia fantástica: I had such wonderful experiences here with my dog Oliver. Recently we brought him in the middle of the night, were greeted by Joy and Sarah. They took such quick, great care of Oliver and us the family. Dr Painter is hands down the best Veterinarian I have ever had. She’s empathetic, caring, explains everything to the detail. She’s fantastic. She helped me make the decision no dog owner loves to do. Also, gave me the option to take him home and visit with him for some precious time I’ll never forget. Thank you so much, for being advocates for our pets and caring so deeply for them. True angels on earth.
Experiencia fantástica: We had to leave VCA Loretto after four years because of repeated instances of disturbing unprofessional behavior. Dr. McCarthy and V.T Theresa at Capital Vet, were a total 180 degree turn in the right direction. They heard me and my concerns for my son, my dog. Not only did they put my concerns to rest but they were able to do it in a way that saved us a lot of stress, hassle and peace of mind. I saved $600 by going to Dr. McCarthy and his team, and was able to get more in one day from CVS than we’d received from VCA Loretto in months maybe even years.
Experiencia fantástica: It was a very early morning visit with a sick kitty. Everyone was very nice.the vet was very sweet went over.everything with me. I thought it was odd to get a phone call from the next room asking if I agreed to all the tests.. ya think I could remember all that? I asked her to text me the list of tests (from the next room) lol. 5 hours later we went home… I felt like there had to be away to shorten this visit. All in all I’m grateful that my sweet baby is home and doing great.
Experiencia fantástica: I found a turtle that had been run over and it had a broken shell. I called several organizations but this was the only one willing to help me. Thank you for your kindness.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. McCarthy was awesome! He spent time thoroughly explaining our dog’s conditions and offering advice as to next steps. The vet techs Tiffany and Theresa were knowledgeable and extremely pleasant. Highly recommend!
Experiencia fantástica: 5 stars because on a Saturday when scary kitty was sick and not eating every other place was booked and couldn’t see him but this place took him in, got him antibiotics and he’s all well now. It wasn’t super expensive either (we declined all other test, only got him the antibiotics) definitely recommend.
Experiencia fantástica: Unfortunately I had to take my puppy here to the ER. I walked in and said my puppy choked on a piece of puppy food. About 45 minutes ago. Nothing else was said. They immediately took the puppy from me. Took him straight to the back. The staff was excellent. I expected to pay a lot more than what I did. When you're at an ER on a Saturday or Sunday you know it's going to be expensive. But am I surprised it was not as much as I expected. This is the second or third time. I have had to use them. I will not use any other Vet ER. I HOPE I NEVER HAVE TO GO BACK. EXCELLENT STAFF
We're grateful for your kind words and are pleased to hear about the excellent care your puppy received at Capital Veterinary Specialists. Hope your Pup is on the mend and Thank you for choosing Capital Vet Specialists for your pet's emergency needs.
Experiencia fantástica: Our baby was diagnosed with FIP which most vets still don’t know much about or know how to treat. Capital was very knowledgeable and was able to help treat her and now 6 months later she is completely in remission. So happy and grateful for capital
Experiencia fantástica: I lost my English Bull dog Wiley on Saturday. Capital veterinary did all they could. They were so good to him and I am so thankful. He had cancer. I had no idea. They helped me to make right choices for Wiley the love of my life. It feels like he has been gone years and it has only been two days.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. McCarthy, Corie, and the rest of the surgery team are the best! Our English Bulldog, Morty, had recurring infections in his tail pocket due to a corkscrew tail. We went to Dr. McCarthy for a consultation and he was patient, answered all our questions, and recommended a tail amputation as he said this would greatly improve Morty’s quality of life. We agreed to the surgery and they kept in communication with us before, during, and after the procedure, which eased our minds. Anytime we reached out during his recovery, they responded quickly and answered all of our questions. Morty is now almost three months healed and he’s been doing fantastic! He’s a different dog now that he doesn’t have the discomfort of constant tail infections, and we’re so happy we trusted Dr. McCarthy and his team with this procedure! We were so impressed with the care given to Morty that we had no hesitation scheduling a consultation shortly after for another one of our babies, our Boxer, Rosie, as she blew out both of her knees. Corie and Dr. McCarthy both remembered us, asked how Morty has been doing, and showed the same patience and kindness in our questions and concerns for Rosie. She’s now a week post surgery and is doing great so far! Dr. McCarthy has already been so quick to answer questions we’ve had to reassure us that she is healing normally in what will be a long road to recovery. Hoping we don’t need more surgeries anytime soon, but if we do, we would not hesitate to go back to Capital. We’re so glad to have put our trust in Dr. McCarthy for the excellent care shown to our babies!
Experiencia fantástica: I have been here twice and both times the staff made me feel comforted by their caring and concerns not only for my pet but for me as well. They care about what is the best options for what I could afford. That is rare these days. I appreciate you all.
Experiencia negativa: We took our elderly dog Tank up here March 8th a little after midnight cause we didn't know what was going on with him. We got there and from the start the front desk person had no compassion at all. When they got done checking him out they put us in a room and the doctor came in with a needle with blood in it saying she thinks a mass might have burst in him and he was bleeding in the stomach. Said it could be a few thousand dollars to help him even if that surgery would fix it. Then we waited and the front desk lady came in our room and started going over what the cost could be. $1000 for diagnostic tests and up to $8000 for surgery but it would be $326 to euthanize him. And while she was telling us all this she was just very rude. No compassion at all. It was like we had no choice but to have him put down. The doctor who did the euthanization was kind and he seemed to go peacefully but we just feel they over priced everything and they definitely need to tell that lady that was up front to be more kinder even people come in with their sick beloved pet.
Experiencia negativa: I called before I drove an hour to see if they could refill my dogs medication as she ran out and the pharmacy closed before I could get to it. They said yes, understandably when I got there they said they could not refill it due to it being liquid. That was fine, and we went to blue pearl where they could help us. However, my complaint is how they handled another patient. A woman who’s dog was bit was asking if her dog could just get stitches because the receptionist said they couldn’t do blood work. She asked does my dog need bloodwork? And she couldn’t answer, so she got Kyle. Who came out and said “What’s the problem out here?” Very aggressively towards her. She said I just need to know if my dog would only need stitches or if she would need bloodwork, and the guy was eventually able to answer but said they couldn’t help immediately due to a surge of critical patients. Very understandable, however, his tone was extremely poor towards her and demeaning. I’d hope the staff remembers in the future that this is someone’s baby and a scary moment for them. Showing compassion and bedside manners goes a long way. She left and also went to another ER. It was just astonishing to see someone who had an injured dog and just looking for advice/answers to simple questions be spoken to in that way.
Experiencia negativa: I'm not sure how they have any star rating or are in business at all! They do not truly care about animals. They charged my friend almost $400 for a parvo test literally nothing else & that test was negative & they refused any further testing without an additional $300 & threatened to call the police on them for questioning why more testing couldn't be done on this very sick puppy for the $378 they paid. Google ended up treating the pup for less than $15 for over the counter medication that place couldn't/wouldn't. PLEASE take your fur baby some place else
Experiencia negativa: I wish I could give ZERO stars! Do not take your beloved pets here. Money hungry and staff is RUDE! Who wants to deal with rude staff members when your dog is dying? Sarah at the front desk has ZERO empathy. There are better options in Jacksonville.
Experiencia fantástica: Capital Vets took care of our sweet 16 year old dog when she had a stroke at night after our vet was closed. They were incredibly compassionate and I am so grateful for the way they helped us through an extremely rough time. While I wish I had never had to go there I feel very lucky to have found them to help.
Experiencia fantástica: They were very professional and thorough after being in my 2 yr old doodle mix after a seizure. They quickly got the information they needed to start an assessment on her and then explained to us as they took her back. We waited maybe 10 minutes in the front lobby after she had been taken back before they brought us into a room and gave us the information we would need to decide on a treatment of care. They were kind enough to let us know which things we could wait and do with her primary Veterinarian simply because doing so there would be a great cost and which things would cost but they highly suggest we do simply because of the situation. I am greatful to them and their team for easing our minds once they knew that she was recovering from her seizure well.
Experiencia fantástica: So very grateful to have this clinic, and the awesome Dr. McCarthy local. Top tier care with experience and technique, even with rare surgeries. Really good at keeping me informed, from start of surgery, finish, and recovery. My girl is acting like it never even happened just 5 days post-op. Highly recommend!
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. McCarthy did TPLO surgery on our hound, Walker. This was Walker's second TPLO done at this facility. Both visits were handled with great care, and personal attention by both surgeons, I really felt like they were going to spend as much time with us as we needed. The staff was very kind, and very upfront about some staffing issues that concerned me initially. Here's hoping that we don't need any more surgery, but we feel like this hospital is a good option for Jacksonville.
Experiencia fantástica: The male tech needs a bit of sensitivity training and people skills (owners are just as terrified and traumatized as their pets sometimes), but taking him out of the equation, 5 stars in an Earth shattering situation. The veterinarian was compassionate, tender, thoroughly and thoughtfully discussed with me and agreed with my thinking, and showed an 11 year old dog ,who had just been to hell and back again because of another vets horrific and thoughtless decision making skills the care and love she deserved right until the end. I will always be grateful to that Dr for the time given before during and after to say goodbye to my Ellie. If you need help or care for your four leggeds-this is the one.
Experiencia negativa: Yesterday evening when I was there I was treated with respect by Sarah, Becca and Dr. Apolo. Dr. Apolo worked with me and my budget to take care of my cat. But, unfortunately this morning the man working the front desk treated me like I was less than because I couldn’t afford to spend over four thousand dollars there and had to transfer my cat. When I called this morning to ask what I need to explain to another clinic he was very belittling and I stated “I can’t afford the $4,000 y’all want to charge.” He then goes to say “Yeah I understand money is tight right now for some.” Excuse me??? I work full time and so does my husband. We have SEVEN children, a home and several other bills that don’t allow us to have thousands to pull out whenever we want. I am BEYOND thankful for Dr. Apolo and the ladies that helped me yesterday but this man really needs a lesson on how to speak to people especially when y'all deal with finances along with peoples fur babies. It’s very disheartening and completely unappreciated.
Experiencia fantástica: Learned of CVS through an emergency with our lab. Not only did they promptly take care of our situation, but they showed so much kindness and compassion! The prices are very reasonable, as well. Following Dr. McCarthy's expert and professional surgery, our dog was back to normal in almost no time and the prognosis is good. We would highly recommend this practice.
Experiencia fantástica: They brought my angel back from the brinks. She needed extended care and an ER was recommended and Capital was referred at one time as being great!! And here she is almost 5 days after I thought I was going to say goodbye…home and eating homemade mild GI dog food!! Can’t thank the medical team enough for saving her.
Experiencia negativa: Not 24 hours, turned us away at the door because they were understaffed but took someone right after us when our cat was having trouble breathing. Wasted previous time. Fortunately we got him to another ER. Also ignored us knocking and ringing bell wasting time. Don't take you animal here expecting 24 hour care. They decided my cat was not worth saving. Thank god we got him the help he needed elsewhere. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Experiencia fantástica: Our dog had a sudden emergency after hours and our regular vet was closed. We called ahead and they were waiting for us. Our dog was immobile and weighed just over 100 lbs. Moving him on our own was very difficult. When we arrived, the staff came out with a stretcher and strapped him in. They took him right back. From the first phone call, the staff and doctor were very professional and informative. The whole time they kept us up to date about what was going on, options, and what to expect. Their pricing is very high, but probably what you’d expect for after hours emergency care. They have up to date equipment, and a clean facility. Unfortunately, we lost our boy that night. The entire staff was very empathetic and kind as we faced this incredibly difficult time. Due to the type of work they provide, I hope to never need them again. If I do, though, I wouldn’t hesitate to go back for quality emergency care.
Experiencia fantástica: Shout out to Mrs. Jordan and Mrs. Apollo for giving me a peace of mind with my frenchy. I hope to never have an emergency but super thankful of your expertise and knowledge you provided. I Highly recommend Capital Veterinary Specialist to anyone needing an ER provider. Also helps to call ahead to make sure they can see you. Very Respectfully, Luis
Experiencia fantástica: Cannot say enough great things about our experience at Capital Vets yesterday ..Our 13 mth old girl Lucky literally fell over and went limp in our backyard … gums completely white and unable to move at all we rushed her to our emergency hospital and to our surprise there was no Doctor there and the Dr wouldn’t be back for another hour to hour and a half.. so we loaded our girl back up and I called Capital explained what happened and they quickly asked her weight, her age , what kind of car we were in , and where exactly on the road we were.. When we arrived they were outside waiting with a gurney … she was immediately placed on it but then another staff member quickly scooped her up and ran her in ! Before I could blink she was surrounded by more staff then I could count and being treated… I was placed in a room where I was constantly updated on her status , kept fully informed on what they were doing , and what costs were going to be … Dr Tank was so very kind and thorough in all of the explanations of treatment and bloodwork results . The staff and care we received was amazing. Thankfully Lucky is just fine today and I attribute that all to Dr Tank and all of the staff at Capital for being so fast to act. Thank you just isnt enough
Experiencia fantástica: the staff and environment here is incredible. i took my cat here early in the morning for a sudden medical emergency and was seen immediately. throughout the process, every member of staff was happy to answer our questions and explain the process to better educate us on how treatment would proceed. dr. tank and kaleena were both very honest and helpful in choosing options that worked with our budget. we felt we were prioritized appopriately given their obvious workload and felt our baby was in good hands. i will definitely return should we need their services again. thank you again to everyone we spoke with!
Experiencia fantástica: Our little 2 year old Daushund was bitten by a baby rattle snake in our back yard area. I was able to quickly get him in and we called ahead to make sure they knew the situation. They took our little man right away and gave us a plan of care based on his blood results. I was so incredibly nervous and upset because of how serious the situation was. Every nurse, doctor, and front desk associate who took care of us were amazing. Answered every question, consoled us, made sure we knew exactly what was going to happen while he stayed overnight and even sent us pictures of him the next day. Thankfully, he only had to stay 24 hours and is recovering smoothly. I don’t know what I would have done without such a capable, kind, compassionate, and hard working team of vets to save my fur baby. Thank you Capital Vet for all you do!
Experiencia fantástica: Ive had two dogs go to this ER when they were sick. They are very friendly and really care about the pets they take care of. When my dog had seizures and we took him here. The people held him for hours because he did not want to be alone in the cage.
Experiencia negativa: When I first got there, it was around 11 at night and I walked in and there was one person ahead of me for the same issue shot reaction and I walked in without the dog and I said he is reactive. I’m a dog trainer. He was a clients dog that was abandoned with me, two females were working the front desk, and the one with the brown hair and glasses was helping me, and she was completely ignoring what I was telling her and she told me to bring him in. She wouldn’t even come around the counter to help me get the dog how she wanted him on the scale he had just been weighed that day and he was 69 pounds. And then when she comes out he growls at her like I told her he would and she just walks in the back and talk to a blonde lady and shakes her head now and then the blonde lady comes out and says that they’re unable to see him due to a three hour wait but they advise he goes and gets seen somewhere immediately, if you’re scared of dogs and you shouldn’t work in the ER . So I honestly do believe some breed discrimination was going on bc I have been in there before and when the little yappy dogs are growling no one seems to care but when a trainer comes in and says my dog is reactive and will growl and especially tn when he is having a allergic reaction to shots then I just get left sitting in a Waiting room with no one in it but me and my dog and told there’s a three hour wait but she was just on the phone with someone from Fleming Island saying their dog was having a reaction and she told him to bring it in and they could get seen immediately so where is this three hour wait coming in? I also reached out to them online and I was blocked from their Facebook by Chelsea the Director of the hospital when I was told she was going to call me about the situation.
Experiencia positiva: Brought in two vomiting pups. And only left with one. She still wasn’t good. Thank god my actual vet was open and she fixed her and explained everything thoroughly. The communication was terrible here. And the urgency was even worse. I felt like all they were worried about was the large up front payment. I would never bring my sick pup here ever again. Dr Bruzo was horrible. Totally heartbroken. And now questioning myself if I only brought my baby somewhere else.
Experiencia negativa: If you love your pet DO NOT bring them here. Had the most horrific experience. Updated response to owners review: I DO NOT have the wrong organization. The dr on staff when we brought my dog in only had a year experience and it was an emergency. Your organization also told me to never call again when I asked to see the ultrasound or whatever imaging they said they did at the time to confirm diagnosis. Which the front desk then said it wasn’t on the bill so it’s possible they didn’t do it. Your system must not be updated or accurate.
Experiencia fantástica: Our almost 14 year old golden doodle-Honey-had surgery this past Monday for a very large tumor along her left side.Dr. McCarthy (the surgeon) spent ample time with us on the initial pre-op visit, answering all questions. Very kind & super intelligent. Even got on the floor with me and our dog, explaining the surgical plan in details. The morning of surgery arrived and by mid-morning Honey was doing so well that we picked her up at 1 pm the same day. The staff was super kind & caring, explaining all the follow up/post-op care. The staff (Albert) even helped our dog into the car, offering a blanket for Honey to lie on. :) I received caring follow up calls and texts from the staff and the surgeon that evening and the following day. As you can see from the picture(1 day post-op) our girl is doing fantastic. We can’t keep her down. So amazing after such a necessary large incision(s) and tumor removal. I would no hesitate to recommend Dr. McCarthy, Dr. Walker and all the staff of Capital Veterinary specialists. It’s a clinic you can trust for the highest levels of care.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr Walker and his team are absolutely the best around. We took our 10 year old Doodle Mix that had immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA) and immune-mediated thrombocytopenia (ITP). Dr Walker quickly came up with a treatment plan that gave us 2.5 years more with her. I can't say enough about Dr Walker and all of the staff. They were always so polite and gentle with our girl Holly. Thank you so much.
Your review made our day! We are grateful to work alongside you to ensure your furry family is happy and healthy.
