Experiencia negativa: Tried to tell me my dog needed allergy medicine, i insisted that I did not want that ,but they told me there was no other way. Turns out my dog was allergic to a plant in my backyard that they walked over every day, removed the plant, all is good. Waste of $1000 they are overpriced and do not care about anything but money.

Experiencia negativa: 2 Dogs "yearly health evaluation" was $496 in 2024. Which was way too much and a huge price change from the old vet that was here. This year they wanted $780. It is not inflation it is greed.

The staff handled her serious injuries as though she was their own. Her after care was critical in her continued recovery. Then we met an extremely friendly, attentive staff & a wonderful DVM Dr. Morilla. The prices are very reasonable, the clinic very clean! My dog although somewhat nervous was not frightened by anyone that handled him. Kudos to them all! Always able to get in to be seen and the staff shows so much love to my dogs, whether it’s someone up front, the techs who are so knowledgeable and kind, or the doctors who are so wonderful and answer all of our questions. Experiencia negativa: Condescending, dismissive, and WRONG. I brought my cat in for very odd behavior, head shaking, jumpiness, and the doctor barely looked at her before perscribing Prozac. When i was hesitant and brought up a possible neurological issue he was so condescending and facetiously said he could bring in the behavioral specialist form UF. They told me any toxicity testing would be hundreds of dollars. I called again and they had another vet actually do a physical for free the next day but found nothing. Turns out it was a very rare PSS and ammonia toxicity in her BRAIN that required immediate attention, meds, and diet change. The front desk lady called me to check in and when I told her, she was ALSO condescending and acted like the SPECIALIST got it wrong and said shes never seen that in 16 years. I hope these vets learned something new.

Today we got less than ideal news. Dr. Sherman was so kind and patient with me and took her time one on one to make sure I knew our options. Our vet tech noticed my tears and gave me a hug and talked books with me to take my mind off it. Every experience is above and beyond the last. We had vet hopped so much trying to find the right place for our boys and this was it for us. And always will be.

The staff from front to back was prompt, caring, and efficient. The kitty got checked out, fortunately negative for the bad viruses, and now is being fattened up for adoption. I couldn't have asked for better service. Highly recommended!

Thinks all the vet techs are his bffs, and there to continuously serve him treats. He is a very chaotic dog, so we have had a few last minute/day of appointment needs and they always get us in. They don’t try to overcharge or sell you extra tests/meds, just do what’s best for your pup. Definitely recommend.

Experiencia negativa: I don't even know where to start..The past couple of months has been extremely stressful and crazy for my pet and my family.We got a appointment to go see Dr.Morilla,my Jaxson had a tumor growing on his side so I set an appointment with this doctor for surgery to remove the mass. The blood work was perfect everything his levels looked fine, so surgery day comes they give him his anesthesia getting ready for surgery and then they stopped because they claimed they had a couple of concerns. Okay supposedly they noticed that his heart was enlarged ,they heard some type of crackling in his chest, it was fluid in his lungs, and his lymph nodes were hardened. And that they believe it was cancer and that it had taken over his lungs and body and they could not proceed with the surgery and on top of that they did not feel like he would wake up after the surgery because of his heart. I was distraught. I really had believed what Dr.Morilla were saying to me and my husband, until my coworker told me to get a second opinion I'm so glad I did! When I left their office I spent over $500(Surgery would've been 1,100).So I went to a specialist(visit $200 wanted $4,600 for surgery) who told me that his heart sound fine,he didn't have a heart murmur or issue,his lungs was clear and that his lymph nodes were perfect and he didn't know what Dr.Morilla was talking about.My Jaxson suffered because of this misdiagnosis,longer than he should have..So fast forward we found an excellent doctor that performed the surgery Jaxson came out perfectly and is healing well. Just to think before the second opinion that I Was preparing to have to put him down.And for what?Over a lie..Will not be coming back here!

Experiencia fantástica: What an awesome place! I called at 9am today after finding a lump on my cats side. I was worried sick. They got me in the same day. The vet answered my many, many questions so thoroughly and with care. One of the assistants also told me anecdotal stories about how her cat also has a fatty deposit lump and was realistic but reassuring. The receptionist was very nice too! The price was extremely fair- $76 for a check up. The facility was clean, everyone was professional, it was quiet and felt calm. :-)

Experiencia fantástica: My first experience with River city vet hospital was years ago when they loved on my first pup lollie...and now they have welcomed my pup Memphis unto their family. I drive 35 minutes, pass numerous other vets to come here because of their care and compassion for our fur babies!!!! I highly recommend, excellent service and care, affordable pricing!!!!!

Experiencia negativa: I will never ever step foot in this place again after the extreme distress the vet caused our family. Our dog was having GI issues and odd swelling in her ears. The vet diagnosed her with a rare life threatening disease based on these two symptoms. The approach to her diagnosis was very questionable, as the vet admitted he posted her case on a forum for help and to come up with this diagnosis. He didn’t even come up with differentials. Instead of ruling out common diagnosis or even saying “we will rule this out”. He latched on to a very rare diagnosis without the proper pieces. After lots of tears that night after getting this diagnosis (oh all while welcoming a new baby as if that wasn’t stressful Enough) - something didn’t sit right so we got a second opinion (and thus spent more money). Turns out she has IBS and the swelling on the ears was likely ant bites (resolved the next day). We paid hundreds of dollars in bloodwork and tests at River City for him to misdiagnose her and cause us to think we didn’t have much time with our dog left. Turns out all our dog needed was special hydrolized protein food and now she’s literally fine. Needless to say, we found a new vet. Perhaps don’t tell a family their dog has a rare disease when you don’t even have the pieces to the puzzle yet. If a vet is gonna misdiagnose something as simple as IBS that’s very concerning. Oh and to top it off in our paperwork, they labeled our dog as extremely aggressive. Actually, she’s extremely anxious and scared of the vet. They take the dogs in a back room Away from their owners when they do blood work and it causes our dog to be absolutely terrified. When the paperwork says it took three dogs to restrain her, no wonder she’s “reactive”.

Experiencia negativa: They changed the name so you all won’t know how awful they were. As long as Dr. Sherman is there though your pets life is in jeopardy. She left my dog to die and then didn’t even apologize. Fortunately my baby made it but no thanks at all to her. She had to have a blood transfusion and 2 plasma infusions at an ER vet. She said my dog had a bulging disc but really she’d ingested rodent poisoning. When I told her about it this woman looked me in my face and told me that medicine isn’t an exact science. Yea I know but the craziest part is her going on to say that she had a coworker who had a c section and they accidentally cut into her bladder and they told her she wasn’t eligible for a refund for what she paid for the c section. Then I told her that’s what malpractice insurance is for. I only wanted my $69 back and an apology. I finally did get the money back but it was ridiculous. She’s ridiculous. Good luck!

Experiencia fantástica: River City Veterinary Hospital is my new Vet. After leaving another Vet I had been going to for seven years and my late Parents used for 38 years. No more. I had to bring my cat in because he wasn't feeling well. He is 16 years old. They did a Senior Fel Early Detection Profile that included blood work but the exam was done with me in the same room. Yes they took him to another room to do the blood work. Then we left for home and the next day I got a call from the Vet asking how my cat was doing. This was my first time getting a call the day after an exam. Then I got a call from the Doctor on the blood work that was done. No Diabetes, no other major problems. Just a better wet diet and things have calmed down A lot. I felt so much better being I and my cat was truly cared for by the whole team at River City Veterinary Hospital in Jax/Fl. PS: My Beloved Cat was put to sleep on 10/25/2024 after a short illness. Till we meet again Snowden I have always loved you and my heart is broken.

Experiencia fantástica: I would highly recommend RCV . Our dog is approaching 16 years old and much of that longevity is due to the care she has received from RCV. When I had lost hope they correctly diagnosed the problem and with medication and suggestions we were able to enjoy our dog with improved quality of life for a bit more time. I do not like to be upsold to at all and they did not. The prices are more than reasonable but more importantly the vet and staff were amazing. My dog never growled and barely side-eyed because they made her feel comfortable from the start. People do not understand how hard it is to find quality care for their bulldog unless they have one and we found it here. Highly recommend them !

The creamation service and memory bag touched my heart, and they made sure I had a respectabe way of honoring his memory. We recently added to our family when we found a kitten covered in filth and fleas. We got a next-day appointment at the hospital, and they ran tests and started her on antibiotics and a meal plan to help get her up to fighting weight. I love that they handle my fur babies. Their caring staff called the following day not just to check on our new sweet, fearless girl but also her very unpleased big sister.

Experiencia fantástica: I can't thank River City Vet enough for taking care of my 4.5lb yorkiepoo, Merci. Dr. Qualls and the entire staff were wonderful with handling her medical emergency. We had never been there before and RCV got us in within 30 minutes, and started on a treatment plan right away. After two days of IV fluids and medication, my baby had a full recovery. I highly recommend River City Vet!

I had previously brought my foster dog here who has very intense fear reactivity but with proper procedure can be dealt with swiftly and with the least amount of stress put on him. Since adopting- Between me making sure he has the right tools in place, and them being incredibly supportive it was the least stressful visit I have had with him. The techs here are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. It is hard to find a supportive vet with the problematic dogs- Thank you River city for putting up with us! This is his place.

Experiencia negativa: Make sure you get an estimate and exactly what is being given and done. To feel nickled and dimed by a vet you thought you could trust is not something I would want another pet owner to experience. Be your pets advocate, because this vet is for the bottom line, not the health of the animal. The 3 year rabies vaccine is not offered, regardless what previous vaccines your adult dog had. Why? Cause they can then charge the client yearly to come in for a visit. Not surprised that I get no response, as they are guilty of this practice... overcharging, over vaccinating and no common sense when it comes to patient care.

Experiencia negativa: I have never had so many issues with a vet before - most of which have been a money grab! Just declined my dog’s heartworm medication again even though we were just there 6 months ago (maybe less). At that time, they made us come in for bloodwork to make sure he was heartworm negative, even though we had just done this 2 months prior. Most vets want to give away heartworm meds because it’s such an awful disease, which I have experienced personally with a foster, but this vet gate keeps. On a separate day, I was told that another one of my visits with another pet would be one cost, and when I got there, a much higher price. They gaslit me as if I was a cheap, difficult owner. If you have a bully breed, expect them to be muzzled and noted as dangerous, even when they have never presented an issue before. The only positive here was euthanizing my girl a year ago - the doc could have cared less, but the nurse was very empathetic. For context, I have rescued animals all over the US for two decades, including many I’ve adopted, meaning lots and lots of vets and vet visits. These experiences are not normal, and I’ve bit my tongue many times. Older reviews sounded lovely, but over a year at this vet, and I sincerely recommend going anywhere else, but here.

Experiencia fantástica: We have a dog that on Sunday, 3/17/2024 was limping. On Monday, 3/18 we contacted her vet and was able to get in that day. They did an X-ray and reveled an partial break on her paw. Gave her a shot, some meds and she is healing. Thank you to Dr Paul & staff for the quick turn around @ River City Vet.

However, my fur baby wasn’t denied treatment due to my financial setbacks or inability to pay in full. Experiencia fantástica: I just love all of you, and the friendly way you treat my cat, "Boo." She leaves home only once a year, and that is to visit you. She doesn't like the needle, so getting her in her cage is challenging. I'm so sorry she "hissed" at you, and you weren't able to clip her nails. She is a feral rescue and didn't even "meow" for 3 years. After 6, she realized she can "hiss" and be threatening. Once back home, she cuddled in my lap and allowed me to clip them without even a wiggle. Thank you for being so kind and caring. Boo and I will definitely see you next year.

I called River City and they made an appointment for her that same day. Dr. Qualls took the time to listen to me, examined Ella and made his recommendations. She improved that same day. What a relief! And they called the next day to see how she was doing. Excellent service, from desk to tech to vet - all great! I am never going anywhere else.
