True Companions Veterinary Clinic: Reviews
Negative experience: I almost didn't post this, but I feel that the care I received at MaxFund was negligent overall and I want to warn other pet parents. We trust the veterinarians to be experts in their field, knowledgeable and up to date on all the latest research, and know what is the best and safest treatment for our pets. My cat, who had an underlying heart murmur (that I was told was mild), was prescribed prednisolone for a separate medical issue and the med ultimately put her into heart failure and she died 3 days later. The whole visit felt rushed and Dr. Malone never provided me with any education about any potential side effects or warning signs to look out for after starting the med. So when she first starting getting sick, I called the MaxFund clinic for advice, and I was given contradicting advice by two different vets on what to do. I brought her into the emergency vet but it was too late - the emergency veterinarian told me the prednisolone had put her into heart failure. I later did my own research and found two research studies that confirmed steroids can induce heart failure in pets. The researchers recommended that vets should be cautious when starting a pet on a steroid when they have an underlying heart condition, and that the pet should be further evaluated *prior* to starting the steroid. Dr. Malone was aware that my cat had a heart murmur. Had I known the potential risks, I never would have given the steroid to my cat. MaxFund also doesn't label any of their medication bottles with the dosage, so for all I know my cat might have been overdosed as well. I later sent an e-mail to the office manager and Dr. Malone communicating everything that happened to hold them accountable, she responded back to me but never took any responsibility for anything. This experience has made me lose my trust in the care at MaxFund so I will not be returning. But I wanted to share my experience in hopes of helping other people so they don't go through the same experience with their pet.
Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with check in staff, Vet assistance and Vet Dr. My doggy needed a dental evaluation on her teeth. I took her in for blood work than her surgery. My doggy was well cared for during her stay. I was contact my Vet doctor. Staff was good with her. They provided me with medication and sat with me to go over home care. Price was affordable for all they did. I will diffently be going back. Thank you Maxgund front staff, assistances and Vet doctor.
Negative experience: I took my cat to Maxfund after vomiting consistently for 1month+ and losing weight rapidly, they did an exam and ran a blood panel and told me many times thru the appointment he was in perfect health and suggested a prescription diet. I expressed this was not the issue and they just offered me more tests, I felt pressured to spend more money and it didn't feel right to proceed with the tests considering how they kept telling me he's in perfect health which clearly he was not. I saved up to take him to another vet, who noticed a cancer mass in his abdomen INSTANTLY. I continued to get an ultrasound with the new vet who diagnosed him w cancer, which overtook 90% of his stomach and was internally bleeding (He also developed dental disease in the last year which maxfund said nothing about). He was euthanized a few days later. I asked Maxfund for a refund, given my experience with them was not helpful and I was not offered any help and little sympathy . I do not blame them for my beloved pets death, but I do believe there was negligence on their end with my situation- I paid 2k to get my cat into a new vet, diagnosed, and euthanized, I felt the least Maxfund could do was stop the last payment coming up on my payment plan. If you have pressing concerns regarding your pet's health, I would not recommend this be the place you go to figure out what's going on. Pay the slight extra (really not much of a cost difference anyway) to get into a vet that cares- because I truly felt we were neglected in my experience.
Negative experience: I feel like a fool coming here. I fell for the high pressure sales tactics and now I am out $250 when I couldn’t even really afford the base visit cost to begin with.
Fantastic experience: Very thorough and sincerely cared about my pets! Thank you so much
Negative experience: I drove over 30 minutes in rush hour from Aurora because we had a scheduled appointment for his vaccinations, just to be told he actually needs an exam before he can get his shots and we need to reschedule. Thank you for wasting my time I will not be coming back here.
Positive experience: They never answer their damn phone! One has to physically go to the clinic to ask for an appointment in person. But they're awesome at charging thousands of dollars, that they're good at.
Fantastic experience: Go next door and get a cat . This boy lives there. His name naow is Mr guy and he is the best friendly cat you will ever meet
Fantastic experience: THE BEST EXPERIENCE! From start to finish my experience with this vet has been amazing! Every person I’ve interacted with has been friendly. On top of that, my 10lb 15 year old dog has horrible dental disease. They put my mind at ease about the safety of her undergoing extractions to prolong her life and give it more quality as well. All of their prices have been extremely reasonable and affordable, and they accept cherry payments which took a lot of the financial stress off!! My dog had to have 19 teeth extracted and it was thousands cheaper than other vets quoted me. For 19 teeth extracted and medications, my cost was barely 2k. I know at other vets this would have easily been 4k-5k easily. A few days after surgery, they also called me to check in with my dog post surgery. I am very happy with my experience with this vet! I’ve always disliked vets and how overpriced the care seemed, but this clinic is very reasonable and quality!! whenever it’s time to take my dog, cats, or any future pets, to the vet again, it will be MaxFund!
Fantastic experience: First time here and won't be the last! Warm environment that's solidified by the genuinely kind and caring staff.
Negative experience: Okay, I'm sorry to do this, but I gotta be straight up; unless you've got a lot of money AND you can pay all at 1 time, that's the only way you're gonna get your dog, cat, or whatever any help at this place. The place itself does not offer any payment plans at all. You would have to have fantastic credit, 700 or more to get one of them. Because my credit score was 690 and I did not get anything. Your best bet is to go to humane. Colorado, that used to be called dumb friends. League, trust and believe this. Not only are they the cheapest? Because they are cheaper, as I gotta quote from both places. But they also offer payment plans without having to use a third party. And your credit score!
Negative experience: My heart is breaking for my daughter and this is why.... Her 12 year old cat had lost so much weight suddenly and was having issues keeping balance. So I called and made an appointment. The first visit was bloodwork and physical exam only. They found that she had hyperthyroidism. That was all that we were told. We were given medication and told to bring her back in a month for more bloodwork to see if the levels are improving or if the medication needed adjustment. No mention of organ function nor of anemia. The second visit, she has a CBC done again because she had a temperature. They didn't do a T4 check because she didn't have one dose of the medication because she ran out so she couldn't take it that morning. We were told she was 24% anemic, which I highly doubt but going on. We were given more medication for the thyroid and told to bring her back in a week to get a T4 count. During this visit, they were having such a hard time getting blood from her that it was several sticks until they went for her jugular vein. The cat was still not holding her balance well but it was a bit better, she was still eating but acting like she was starving, and was still not cleaning herself. A week later, she had not gotten any better and we were worried about her giving more blood when it was already difficult the last time. So we rescheduled for another week out to give her a bit more time to recover. That didn't happen. Two days before her appointment, which would have been on 1/21, we had to put her to sleep. She had stopped moving, she had stopped eating, stopped drinking (and when we tried she threw up stomach acid), and she couldn't see us but could hear us. When I called to cancel the appointment and ask about euthanasia but return of the body, I was told that they couldn't return the body because of the chemicals but every other vet that I spoke with could return the body so we could bury her. So totally makes me wonder what chemicals they actually use or if they were just trying to force us to pay more money than what we already paid to try and save her. I thought it was a Godsend to find this place and I'm really regretting it now. There was no communication of how bad our cat was and the cat was forced to suffer because of it. Thankfully, she's in peace now.
Fantastic experience: This place is great they love your furbabbies. Yesterday's Dr. And he assistant were more than amazing
Negative experience: I was shocked at what I found at Max fund after not going there for almost 10 years. The quality of the staff and even the vet has plummeted in that time. From the incredibly loud obnoxious woman that I first talked to while bringing my cat back to the examination room, (as we all know stressed out animals really love people like that), to the vets immediate go to of $400 for x-rays without even taking a stethoscope to listen to my cat's breathing I was shocked. I couldn't wait to get out of there as quickly as I possibly could just to get her away from these people. I'm not sure what happened to the rudder there, but I think it might be time to tie the ship up a little bit and carve out a new one and get back on track. I'm just saying.
Positive experience: Took our fur baby in for his annual exam. Other than the 20 minute wait to be seen (we had an appointment) it went well. Cost was reasonable and staff was attentive and personable. Will be using them again.
Fantastic experience: Very impressed with the front office service, Saturday appointment slots, & every staff member’s kindness towards my rescued/anxious dog and others. The level cleanliness of the facility beats out multiple vets offices we have seen in the Denver/Lakewood metro. We had a recent vet visit for one of our dogs at a competing clinic and it was over $400. We felt that wasn’t right. This place? $82-100. Can not recommend this location enough and felt the vet was very honest/knowledgable about the exam results/pricing. I did not receive any incentive for a 5-star review! 5/5
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff who show kindness and love for all animals.
Fantastic experience: The staff were so kind and helpful. very thankful for their care and concern. It was clear they were all over worked and I'm sure underpaid, thankful that they managed to be present with me and my cats and hear my concerns.
Fantastic experience: The staff and Dr were all very nice Waiting room was very clean
Fantastic experience: Where do I begin? Took my super sick dog in on the fly, always affordable, staff GENUINELY cares which is more than 99% of vets in Colorado. I cannot thank everyone enough for the treatment of my dog the last few days. Huge shoutout to Brandy for being an incredible tech and making my puppy feel at home.
Fantastic experience: Solid no-frills vet. They performed an aural hematoma surgery and lump removal on my 12-year old dog, and charged me about $1k for the whole ordeal. For reference, I was quoted $2k+ by Sploot. Staff was kind, vet knowledgable, and surgery went smoothly.
Fantastic experience: Very professional and friendly! Reasonable cost!
Negative experience: My Experience at MaxFund Veterinary Clinic I’ve been bringing my 14-year-old Chihuahua, Sadie, to MaxFund for several years, and I’ve always supported their mission as a no-kill facility. I was genuinely grateful that this recent visit was scheduled quickly, and the two vet techs who handled Sadie were kind, gentle, and patient while clipping her nails, cleaning her ears, and giving her shots. I truly appreciate them. However, my experience with the veterinarian left me disappointed and honestly heartbroken. The vet was in the room for maybe ten seconds. I tried to explain a few concerns—I mentioned a strange swallowing noise Sadie makes in her sleep and that I was worried about a possible ear infection due to the odor and buildup. The vet briefly glanced at her ears and said they “looked good,” then left. I never saw her again. When I asked the techs if Sadie might have an ear infection, they told me it would require testing her earwax under a microscope—something I would have gladly approved, but nobody offered or followed up. I left with no answers. Today, Sadie is still shaking her head, and I still don’t know if she’s in pain. Little things added up. They couldn’t find our record at first, even though Sadie has been here multiple times over the years. They had her birth year listed incorrectly. I was also billed $25 for a missed appointment from 2022 that I was never informed about—just added to my receipt without explanation. After reading many other recent reviews from pet owners who felt dismissed, judged, or left without answers, I started to understand I wasn’t alone. I love that MaxFund is no-kill, but compassion also means truly listening—especially to someone advocating for an elderly dog who means everything to them. Sadie is not “just at the end of her life.” She is my family, my best friend, and she deserves a vet who will check her teeth, test her ears, answer questions, and take a moment to care. I shouldn’t leave more worried than when I arrived. I wish I could still trust this clinic, but I can’t. I will be taking Sadie elsewhere, even if it costs more—because having our concerns heard is worth it. I sincerely hope MaxFund can improve, because their mission is important, but right now, the follow-through is deeply disappointing. If you are looking to adopt I would look towards the Denver Dumb Friends League who now operates under the name Humane Colorado. Same location and they never changed their goals or bottom line. Just the name.
Fantastic experience: Great place to take your pets. They prioritize your pets care over profit. Our vet said we could wait another year for a dental cleaning.
Fantastic experience: I just got discovered this place and is the best for pets!
Fantastic experience: MaxFund is there when you need them! This time, they're helping me give this ancient pug some pretty awesome golden years. They're busy doing important stuff. Be patient, be kind, respect their work.
Fantastic experience: My son's dog was nuettered. The staff was professional, efficient and very caring.
Fantastic experience: The staff at MaxFund went above and beyond my expectations. My cat Burt was seen recently for a urinary blockage, he was in dire straights, darn near dead and they jumped in to save him. From the time I called to see if they could take him until the last visit, I felt heard and seen. They actually helped me unlike the first place I took him to. Everyone on the staff loved him and it showed. He became a little ladies man there. Burt is not shy about hating on people but he loved them. He purred through the worst of it all. I will always recommend MaxFund for anyone needing vet care.
Fantastic experience: This was a great find! The staff was friendly and helpful and the prices were very reasonable.
Fantastic experience: My 18 year old kitty was dying, they got me in asap and helped me during this terrible time. The nurse was phenomenal!! Very compassionate and kind to me, the Doctor was as well. The nurse cut some fur for me at the moment I was not able to even think about that which means the world to me. Explained everything to me, and made the transition from life to death a little easier for my heart. I refer everyone to them.
Fantastic experience: Excellent care at sensible prices. Highly recommend this clinic!
Positive experience: Their prices have raised a little over the years but they always take amazing care of my kitties. They are compassionate and make you feel like you matter
Fantastic experience: We are satisfied to come here at MaxFund veterinary clinic. The staff are very friendly and Dr. Rope is amazing with my pups especially Gizmo been dealing with a couple issues with his elevated blood pressure and kidney .
Fantastic experience: Really great experience at this vet! Great affordable prices, I called about 10 places and this was the most affordable.
Fantastic experience: I adopted one of my dogs from the shelter and take both of my dogs to this vet. The vet staff have been nothing but sweet. They come in with smiles on their faces and are very friendly. On top of that, this vet is very affordable. For both of my dogs to get their vaccinations, it was only $200. One of my dogs had gingivitis when I adopted him. The shelter paid for his surgery to get done. I was recommended to get a yearly dental done to ensure that his teeth are still doing well. I went in and scheduled to get that dental done, and they looked at his teeth and said that it was not necessary because his teeth looked amazing. They truly care for the dogs in their care, not just to make a profit. Yes, it can be a little hard to get them on the phone, but for non-emergency visits, I 10/10 recommend going to them.
Fantastic experience: Dr David Burnett is wonderful. He’s very thorough with my 15 yrs old cat and very gentle with him. I can feel that he cares the way he’s holding my cat. He also gave me all the options with suggestions of what would be best for my cat but not at all pressuring me to do any unnecessary procedure. The clinic is also charged much cheaper than other clinic (my last vet Dr Melissa was also wonderful but I couldn’t afford the price at the clinic she works at) —- one negative thing, they are always booked up since it’s much cheaper than other clinic. Can’t do walk in. Took a little over a week before I can get my cat in to see the vet.
Negative experience: Terrible communication during the application process - was told my application to adopt a dog looked fantastic and they were just waiting for him to recover from neutering so I went out and shopped for him/told my friends & family about him. Took another week and a half to get ahold of anyone just for them to tell me he was approved for someone else weeks ago. Very disappointing experience.
Fantastic experience: The staff were all friendly, they were efficient and didn't waist my time. The parking is street parking, but it wasn't hard to find a spot. The lobby was clean and welcoming.
Negative experience: I’d love to rate the vet itself, but after calling 23 times over the course of 3 hours (no exaggeration) and still not speaking to ANYBODY ON STAFF, I guess this review is for their customer service line…
Positive experience: They are great!!! Front desk lacking personality and customer service but overall wonderful service …. A real Female dog checking out!!!!
Fantastic experience: My cat got really sick out of nowhere and I rushed her to this vet clinic. They saw us fast and were super gentle with her the whole time. The vet explained everything clearly and didn’t make me feel rushed or dumb for asking questions. They ran some tests and found the issue quick. I liked that they gave me options instead of just pushing the most expensive treatment. Prices were fair and they didn’t try to upsell anything which I really respect. The clinic was clean and didn’t smell like other animal places I’ve been. Staff was kind and they even called two days later to check on her which I didn’t expect. She’s feeling way better now and I’ll be bringing both my pets here from now on. Good vets that actually care about animals and not just money are hard to find.
Negative experience: The vet I saw didn’t even introduce herself… I can’t tell you who I saw. I have never been to a vet that was so non-compassionate about their work. Unbelievable
Negative experience: I got 2 kittens in 2017 and took them to Maxfund to get fixed and chipped. Now, 8 years later, and living in a different state, my cat went missing. We hunted for him and he finally turned up in a shelter, where they said they had to have him neutered and chipped because he had had neither!! Well, what did I pay for in 2017?!? I really hate to write this review, because I used to think they were great
Negative experience: i rushed my 5 pound yorkie here because she consumed a large amount of dark chocolate. long story short, the sense of urgency from staff was not present at all and i had to wait an entire hour for the female doctor to induce vomiting. i was sent to the ER and my dog had to stay there overnight, proving how serious this issue was. i understand now that this is not a walk-in clinic, however, they could have sent me to the ER right away rather than having me wait an entire hour. chocolate toxicity in dogs is fatal and i’m very upset with how we were treated here.
Fantastic experience: Max Fund Vet Clinic is the best!!! We’ve been going here for 1.5 years and everyone has always been great but today Vet Tech Diana and another tech were able to trim my very difficult dog’s nails even though my dog hollered at them the whole time!! They were so patient and very skilled at what they do! Also, Emily and Mercedes at the front desk are so kind. Today I watched as Emily helped some other pet owners and she was so reassuring and gentle. I can’t speak highly enough of all of the doctors and staff here!
Negative experience: Remember when, at a 2018 campaign rally, Donald Trump performed an impression of Serge Kovaleski, a reporter who suffers from a congenital joint condition? Those of us who are inherently disgusted by Trump were horrified. His own kind probably thought it was hilarious. Horrifying or hilarious, it was not the kind of behavior I expected from the front desk staff at the MaxFund Veterinary Clinic today. In fact, the loud cacophony and party atmosphere caused stress to my already stressed-out 19-year-old cat woman, for the forty minutes that we, and two other cat moms, were left waiting for the same 4:30 pm appointment time. I reached out to MaxFund based on mentions on Nextdoor. I reached out to MaxFund because it is reputed to be an affordable option for those of us who don’t have a house to mortgage to be able to afford veterinary care at any of the private and predatory practices…and, for those of us whose own health expenses are wiping out our reserves. I reached out to MaxFund because both Eartha Kitty and I are dying…she of old age and dementia, and me from colon cancer. During the peak of my illness I began fretting about who will go first. Of course, I hope that she does so she can receive the end-of-life care and post-life preparation that she deserves. She’s been with me since she was six weeks old, after all. I want to get her established in a practice so when I know that she needs to be helped in her transition, I can call and say, “It’s time” and be welcomed to come in quickly. I’m also hoping that I can start making payments to pre-pay for her cremation. That was what this appointment was about. But she was left to cry for all those minutes. I told the pregnant front desk clerk that the loud noise was stressing Miss Eartha out, but she just gave me a blank look. She did not have the empathy to ask someone to find us a quiet place to wait (as we were the next to be called). But then, I witnessed the desk staff member put on a loud act pretending that she was disability challenged. I waited another five minutes of my cat’s misery and finally bolted. All this after driving across town to find that the closest parking is a block away…that there is no disabled parking ♿ (I must use a walker), and no ADA accessibility to any part of this practice. So we fled. Now I must ponder a creative and kind way to help Miss Eartha on her way…when the time comes. The end-of-life enterprises for pets in the Denver metro is big business and the poor among us are being left with poor options.
Fantastic experience: In late December, my daughter’s cat, Luna, was given a slim chance of surviving beyond a month without hospitalization. We raised some funds on GoFundMe, but it was not nearly enough to cover the expenses. The veterinarian at VCA provided me with a list of places to contact, and MaxFund was the first to respond. They scheduled an early morning appointment to assess Luna. Unfortunately, they reached the same conclusion: Luna was suffering from kidney disease. At only three and a half years old, we were shocked by the diagnosis. However, the staff at MaxFund did not give up on her. They arranged for us to leave her there to receive IV fluids for the rest of the day. Over the next three days, we dropped her off and picked her up for fluids, medication, and tests. Thanks to their care, her kidney values returned to normal. They prescribed renal care cat food and provided us with a course of medication to give her. Three months later, Luna has gained weight and is thriving. While we know she may not live as long as an average cat, these wonderful people truly saved her life. We could never have afforded such care anywhere else, and we are forever grateful. We actively encourage everyone to donate to this amazing organization.
Fantastic experience: Max fund is great. They have helped me feed my sick cat. If it was not for them I would not be able to afford the special food she needs. I am very thankful to them and to the people that donate this special food so families like mine could feed my animal.
Fantastic experience: My name is Donna Vroman And I took my Cat Dannie there today for his Rabies v vaccination And since he’s turning five years old on April 9 I requested that they examine him And they said he’s healthy I am very pleased and very happy with Max friend. They took such good care of my boy. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. And the price Meet my needs thank you so much for taking such good care of us today
Negative experience: Avoid at all costs—they do not care about the well being of your pets or family. This vet practice charges you if your child is in the hospital and you aren’t thinking about canceling vaccine appointments for your pet while you are in the hospital with your child. I had called yesterday after we got home from the hospital and apologized that we had lost track of days while in the hospital and had missed the dog’s vaccine appt. that morning. They called me today to let me know that they would be “sticking to their guns” and charging me for a “no call no show,” and then they hung up on me when I told them I would be cancelling the charge. So not only do they not care about my child, but they do not care about my pet (guess I don’t have a vaccine appt rescheduled!). Unbelievably cruel and extremely unprofessional. We have been coming here for our pets for years, and we will never return, as we cannot trust a practice that treats people and animals this poorly.
Fantastic experience: Amazing staff who were upfront on what they needed to do to help my cat and were also transparent about any and all costs.
Positive experience: They are kind and affordable. Could have been more thorough with discharge instructions. Such a busy office! They said they would make a correction/adjustment to my dog’s weight— which would have brought down the cost, but they didn’t. Since it was so much cheaper than the Vet for neutering, I just let it go.
Negative experience: Don’t recommend this place at all. The techs were sweethearts but the doctor didn’t seem to care and it all seemed like a money grab. I took my cat for two sets of x rays and they basically told me the same thing before referring me elsewhere, mind you each x ray is almost $400. She stated she would take it off but then went back on their word and said it was just the ultrasound they were discounting. Never followed up on my cat or anything I would have to call and call to get answers or responses. Take your baby to CSU Spur or the North vet clinic in Westminster much more helpful and affordable, they don’t perform the same exam and provide you with the same results both times before telling you they are not equipped to diagnose
Fantastic experience: I am forever grateful to MaxFund and really can't recommend them enough. They're probably the only reason my cat got the surgery she needed to treat her cancer. Their treatments are so much more affordable than other vets, but the care is so excellent. Every time I handed my cat over to them, she was treated with love and care, which was also extended to me when her release from surgery got a little delayed. They've been very busy lately, so it has been a bit hard to contact the front desk for questions/scheduling appointments, but I've been willing to work around that because of the excellent care.
Negative experience: Years ago, Max Fund refused to release medication for my then old and sick dog because they had an encounter with my partner that pissed their manager off. I contacted upper management back then, but now I’m leaving this review because they are ignoring calls from my sister regarding her dog’s medication, which he has now run out of and is experiencing health issues as a result. She made an appointment elsewhere, but they can’t see him until Tuesday, so he has to continue to suffer over the weekend. I think Max Fund continues to get business because they are affordable, but holding medication hostage for sick and/or old animals is abuse, period. Personal feelings toward the animal’s owners should not affect the care for the animals. I can’t believe they’re still getting away with this kind of behavior, but they need to be shut down or undergo a full- on management change. Shame on you.
Fantastic experience: I can’t express my gratitude for the MaxFund clinic enough! My pup has been seen by them on 3 different occasions now and each time we were treated with kindness, empathy and quality care. Dr. Pierce and her team took the time to listen and provide me several options despite being incredibly busy. The front desk staff were also amazing in squeezing us in on a busy day. Duke and I thank you!
Fantastic experience: Best vet ever Dr O’Brian was so gentle and kind to my kitty and Brandy at the front desk was absolutely wonderful Definitely found my new vet Thanks for taking such excellent care of my fur baby
Fantastic experience: I will continue trusting MaxFund with my furry boys! Thank you for taking good care of Them!
Fantastic experience: I wish I weren't writing this review but alas, here we are. I had to say goodbye to my sweet, long-term Maxfund foster dog a few weeks ago. He was an old senior guy with a mysterious past. He was the sweetest dog and the most loyal companion. We got to know each other very well over 1.5 years. I am so grateful to Maxfund for rescuing Sully and allowing me to foster him. He was my first dog. The Wellness Center cared for him like any other client (even though he was a feisty little man at the vet!). When it was time to say goodbye, the vet was so kind and respectful. The tech allowed me to take some of Sully's fur home with me. They fully understood the connection I had with him and honored that the entire time. The foster coordinators, Liz and Mariah, were always so helpful and wonderful to work with. Shout out to the entire staff for being with us for this experience. Having Sully in my life was pure magic. RIP Sully My Furever Foster
Fantastic experience: MaxFund is absolutely amazing. They helped us say goodbye to our old cat with such care and compassion. Their dental care for our current cat has been fair, flexible, and transparent. Highly recommend them!
Negative experience: I am giving only two starts because of the way I was treated in this clinic, not because of the surgery my dog received. My dog had a tumor growing on her lower abdomen that needed to be removed and tested. Before the surgery my dog was not yet spayed, and it is common knowledge that cancerous tumors can more easily form in intact dogs. The plan from a different vet, months earlier, was to have her spayed and have the tumor removed all in one surgery (both in the same area). Well, right after I got this quote from the other vet I was laid off from my job and could no longer afford a $2000 surgery. About 6 month later when I would finally be able to afford this again, I brought my dog to Maxfund and explained the situation. The tech was incredibly nice and understanding. The veterinarian, not so much. She had clearly judged me for not spaying my dog sooner before even coming in the room and asking me any questions. BTW no questions were asked: the visit with the vet was maybe 6 minutes long, and they avoided acknowledging me or talking to me at all. Only asking how old the dog was without being spayed. I’m sorry - you don’t know my situation and you didn’t ask. I got custody of this dog at a later age and she wasn’t spayed. When I was ready to get the procedure done I lost my job and couldn’t afford it. We agreed on the surgery and scheduled it, but the vet gave me absolutely no information on the procedure itself, expectations, or next steps. I felt completely disrespected, judged, and left in the dark. that is not something you want to feel from your provider as a pet owner.
Fantastic experience: They are pros at what they do and they are very affordable. I highly recommend them!
Positive experience: I was there because one of my French Bulldogs Bubba jumped out the window of my RV. The Doctor was very nice but she didn’t know how to read the X-ray to determine if Bubba broke his leg. Her examination of Bubba only focused on the leg that I thought was injured and not a full assessment. She recommended that we have a radiologist review the X-ray for a hairline fracture that she could not see when she reviewed the Xray. That was over 3 -4 weeks ago and I still have not received the call back from the doctor to get the results. After I left I looked at the bill, i noticed that I was charged $200 for the X-ray and $200 more to have it reviewed by a radiologist. I didnt understand that if the doctor knew it would take so long to have results, then why send it out? Would the treatment be any different if he had a hairline fracture? I feel it was an unnecessary expense that I wouldn’t have made. The staff and Doctor were very friendly but I wasnt completely satisfied with the extra cost. I phoned the clinic 2 weeks ago and was informed that the doctor was off that day but would return my call. Im still waiting.
Fantastic experience: Just took my dog Minnie in for an exam and vaccines. The staff are very friendly, helpful and positive to work with. I highly recommend bringing your furry friends here
Fantastic experience: Amazing! That is all I have to say about the staff and building! The staff is educated kind and so wonderful. I have been coming here for years and would never go anywhere else. If you want affordability and great care this is your place! Now remember vet care is NOT cheap… If you’re coming here expecting free care then go away cause that’s now what this is. If you want great affordable care then this is your place! I can’t say enough great things! I will be a Maxfund advocate for life!
Negative experience: Preformed surgery on my dog that I did not consent to. I took my dog in for a dental cleaning with the understanding that there might be extractions needed. When the doctor called me and told me how many he thought were necessary I told him that I had a budget to stick to and asked him to only remove a set number of teeth. When I picked her up I found that all of her teeth had been removed. I did not consent to this. There was also no explanation as to why so many teeth “needed” to be removed until I asked at pick up why they had done what they did. Bottom line is that this clinic violated my consent.
Negative experience: I have been to MaxFund a few times. Originally, I loved the vet I saw and felt like she was thoughtful and had good "bedside" manner. However, this vet no longer works here and the vets employed at this time lack these qualities. My recent appointments felt rushed and questions felt brushed off. My dog had some slight abnormalities in her bloodwork and it felt like the vet didn't care at all. She couldn't explain exactly why the abnormalities were there and didn't care to investigate further, just suggesting the solution was an expensive big name prescription food with no real explanation for me as to how/why that will fix the issue. I don't think the current vets are thoughtful or intentional in their work. I will not be returning. Yes, the prices are cheaper than typical vets. If you have a healthy dog who only needs vaccinations, this could be an okay option. However, I wouldn't trust them for anything more. It feels like you get what you pay for.
Positive experience: They are affordable and very nice, but not the easiest to get ahold of and work with. We called and they said they could get our dog in for surgery within a week or two and after three weeks of trying to get scheduled we ended up going somewhere else.
Fantastic experience: I couldn’t recommend MaxFund enough! They are extremely affordable, and everyone that works there is kind, knowledgeable, and patient. They explain the cost thoroughly before performing any procedure and are very communicative both in and out of the clinic. If I could give them 6 stars, I would.
Negative experience: Maxfund, their staff and volunteers are bad neighbors, not only do they park all day in front of other peoples residences and leave no parking for residents, they walk their dogs and leave poop everywhere. They keep leaving dog poop everywhere because not all volunteers/employees there pick up after the dogs. They need to take the bus to work or make a deal with West High School to leave parking for the residents.
Fantastic experience: Great attendance. The Dr Jose was really friendly and patient with my cat Charlie. I recommend totally this clinic. Fast appointment and good prices
Fantastic experience: What an awesome experience! Friendly staff, and a knowledgeable vet, and vet tech. Made me feel so comfortable, and informed. I still can’t get over the quality of service for the affordable price! Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Everyone here was great! I adopted my pup from the adoption center and brought him in for his free exam. Everyone remembered him from when he had gotten neutered and were all so kind. Would recommend!
Negative experience: Was referred here for second round of vaccinations by the adoption center when we adopted our puppy. Adoption center was great but had an extremely awful experience with the vet. Called the over ten times over the span of three weeks to schedule the appointment with no answer or call back, finally drove all the way over there to make an appointment and they had almost the whole schedule open so I am not sure why they couldn’t answer the phone. Then the ladies at front desk looked at me and stated that I need to pay ahead at time of appointment because some people do not pay after the services. This before they have even seen the puppy. It felt like they decided at the spot that I needed to pay ahead of time. They also asked for payment without getting any info on the puppy or without any communications as to what vaccinations he will be getting. Clinic also seemed unsanitary. Will be taking my puppy to the vet I planned on taking my puppy for his annuals instead. Very disappointed as the shelter was amazing during the adoption process.
Fantastic experience: This is a very friendly place for dogs. They're professionals and knowledgeable. The prices are reasonable and the waiting time is not bad at all. The vaccines can range from $28 to $48, much less expensive than other dog's clinics in the area.
Fantastic experience: We took our sweet feline (senior boy) their today. The compassionate, efficient and comprehensive appointment left us feeling relieved to have a plan of action in supported our fur child's gastro probs! Wonderful staff all the way around too!!
Fantastic experience: MaxFund had my back in dire time of need. I had an appointment next door at DownTown that was completely mishandled and I wasn’t allowed to see a doctor when the lobby was empty and no one was being helped in the back or any of the exam rooms. The doctor refused to help me. So I came next door to MaxFund and even though they are over booked and completely busy. MaxFund helped me out, the incredible women at the front desk made me an appointment for the next day, and even took the time to ask a doctor if I could be squeezed in that day on grounds of an “emergency”. If you have low budget pet needs and want to be treated fairly then I couldn’t recommend somewhere more. Thank you MaxFund
Fantastic experience: This place has a real life Dr. Doolittle working here! Dr. O'Brian. He's short and direct while talking to humans, which I could see coming off as rude. BUT this guy is so sweet and patient with animals. I swear that he can actually communicate with them. It's the wildest thing ever! My cat was flirting with him, rubbing against his leg, and giving him sweet meows (which she never does--she's a very silent cat and never meows). He was examining her and asking her what's wrong, and she was looking at him right in the eyes, lightly meowing, AND she held perfectly still while he was examining her! I stood there, mouth agape, in shock! I don't go to this clinic for the doctor to be sweet and chatty with me. I go to this clinic because Dr. Doolittle AKA Dr. O'Brian is knowledgeable and can communicate directly with my animal to find out what's wrong.
Fantastic experience: Staff was very compassionate and took the time to hear my concerns while asking lots of questions. My dog is much better now thanks to Maxfund. The costs were reasonable and affordable, too. I didn't have to break the bank trying to pay my bill! Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Amazing veterinary experience had by myself and my dog. Not to fail to mention that this is the only place that I found in Denver that would actually help me with my dog because she has a CCL rupture and needs TPLO surgery. Thanks to MaxFund she's going to get her surgery on the 28th of March 2024. I have excellent time with her every time we go and all the staff are super kind.
Fantastic experience: I could not rate this clinic highly enough! I was extremely nervous to bring my cat to the vet but the staff at MaxFund is so reassuring and caring. They were super patient and completely transparent about pricing which I find important when it comes to veterinary care as it can often times cost an arm and a leg, but not here. Super affordable and at no expense of the treatment your animals will receive. Bring your pets. Bring your neighbors pets! The best!!
Fantastic experience: My first experience with the staff and Dr. David B was incredible. They were very caring and treated my fur baby nicely even though she wasn't feeling well and wasn't too friendly. Unfortunately, we did not get good news, but we were given different options for care.
Fantastic experience: I've taken all my cats here for vet care for the last 20 years. They provide excellent, affordable service and are obviously animal lovers. They're so kind and gentle with my boy. The facility is also clean and orderly. Always a pleasure to visit Maxfund!
Negative experience: Thoroughly unprofessional surgical staff. Had an appointment for a spay to drop off between 8 and 9 am but was told upon arrival that the appointment got changed but I was never notified. I work late hours and woke early to ensure my pets welfare and would appreciate proper communication not rude jeers from the back of the vets office. The unnamed staff member who was in the back of the veterinary clinic speaking very loudly about me and saying that it shows right here that it was sent and how it was on me and that my pet would not be seen when nobody could furnish where it said anything was sent to me should not speak loudly when being so rude about clients.
Fantastic experience: This office has always been great with my sissy girl and has been somewhat affordable in comparison to other offices. (Keeping in mind that NO pet care is truly affordable or cheap for folks that aren't wealthy-ish!) All things considered, they get 5 stars from me!
Positive experience: Very sad they had me pay for ear antibiotic meds AFTER saying "They look beautiful as far as I can see in there which is pretty far! " Ridiculous prices. Not the place I knew 15 years ago where they greeted the animals as they came in. This staff could care less I walked in with my pet. Not the place I want to spend $1,500 for 2 skin tags to be removed and I requested no general anesthesia, yet they insisted on it in the estimated cost. Needless to say I'm taking my boy to a much better place and less expensive with better care AND concern for my dog and what I want as an owner!! The Convenience Pet Hospital greeted him with peanut butter after making sure he wasn't allergic For a happy visit they said!!
Fantastic experience: My puppies and Kitty are all so well taken care of. Best Vets in town
Negative experience: This clinic vet is mean. They did not communicate well with me thru writing. And most of staff members had no patience with me as a deaf person. It is almost as if they are discriminating deaf people or disabled people in general because they dont bother to get a pen and paper ready and kept mouthing and expected me to readlip. I find it totally turn off. It is Audism attitude they have toward a deaf person. They recently said I cannot no longer use their clinic. They are actually punishing my dogs?! Very cruel people! Especially the staff who made an appointment for people. They also scheduled me at 430 pm! I am from CS and how the heck could I made it in Denver, but did manage to come, but lil late. They were going to charge me for no show up. I was there! It was the front staff saying I cannot see vet even though I was there! They then later charged me for no show. I was thru the traffic! Why would they make an appointment at 4pm or 430pm anyway?! I managed to show up. This clinic did not have interpreters before when I used their clinic for 3 years or so. Until I complained to someone, they forced them to get an interpreter. Now it is theit excuse to kick me out just cos they dont want to pay for interpreters! I will not accept the charges they made when it was their doing. Now they punish my dogs?! That shows you how mean they are. You all should not use this clinic or vet for your pets because of the staff members were unprofessional to start with. No interpreter in the past. It was only 3 or 4 mons ago that they had interpreter in. Now, they make an excuse so they keep more money to themselves and uncaring about the accommodations disabled people need and should not be the reason to push us off. That shows how mean they are.
Negative experience: Nice people. DO NOT listen to the quote they provide you over the phone. Literally wasted an entire day. The quote they provided me in the office was $800 more than the quote they provided me over the phone. And I live 40 minutes away. Waste of time go to your normal vet it’s the same price actually they are $400 more than my normal vet. More than frustrated.
Fantastic experience: I adopted my kitty from the cat shelter and have taken her back here repeatedly for wellness checks and such. Dr. O'Brien is efficient and the techs are always so kind. I will always continue to support this wonderful organization.
Fantastic experience: The staff here were phenomenal. My beloved dog was diagnosed with cancer and declined rather quickly. They supported us in making the devastating decision of putting him down to save him from pain. I felt very supported and cared for as we said goodbye to our Bentley
Positive experience: They are affordable, and the staff if great. But, If you do go here, make sure to book any follow-on appointments while you have a chance to talk to the front desk people. Follow up appointments, and record transfers can be difficult to get.
Negative experience: You people are truly horrible. My husband brought his cat, Xiao Mei, for a rabies shot and Dr. O’Brien told him that her teeth needed to be extracted. He did not know this because that can only be determined by X-ray but he said it. So, he agreed to the surgery because he was worried about her mouth. It turned out that the vet was wrong and had lied to us. But Xiao Mei died from complications of the anesthesia. We reviewed the records and you did not give a reversal agent to bring her out of sedation and there are no records of having monitored her. She died alone. The office manager, Mario, got scared, and he gave Xiao Mei’s dead body to my husband’s daughter and he lied to her too. He told her not to disturb Xiao Mei because she was resting. But she was soon in rigor mortis. She was also covered in urine which Mario said he did not clean. My husband grieves for Xiao Mei every day. This was an unnecessary surgical procedure and it caused her to die. You got a lawyer & refused to apologize or even express regrets. Shame on you.
Fantastic experience: They are great professionals that car for our furry kids ! I’m so grateful for always keeping our babies healthy.
Negative experience: This place used to be amazing but not anymore. Dr Brian is the rudest vet I've ever dealt with. We could hear him in the hallway talking horribly about us. Then, entered the room to talk down to me for the rest of the visit. Paid for a exam and received horrible service due to Dr Brian!! The front staff is pleasant to deal with. NEVER GOING BACK!!!!!
Fantastic experience: Finally affordable allergy treatment for my bulldog. Visited again today 10/4/23 for my other dog. Professional, affordable, and kind staff. Highly recommend!
Negative experience: My first visit at this clinic was good and the female doctor that I saw was very kind and helped my dog with his issue. However a month after I had taken him in and he finished his medication I was told to call to discuss the outcome with one of the doctors. So a month later that’s what I did. After the first call, I didn’t get a callback from the doctor right away, and gave them the benefit of the doubt by giving them 2 days to call me. On the third day I decided to call and ask to speak with a doctor again, but had to leave a voicemail because for some reason no one can answer the phone ever even though there have been 2-3 people up front each time I’ve been there. Finally got the front desk to call me back and I could tell the person hadn’t even listened to my voicemail because she was trying to schedule an appointment. Once she finally listened she said she’d let a doctor know to call me back that day. Well I was never called so on the 4th day from my first phone call I called again and clearly I was upset from my tone in my voicemail but never rude. That afternoon one of the male doctors called me and was less than pleasant. I felt as though I was burdening him by calling because my dog needed something further done as he was not doing great since finishing his medication. The doctor told me his plan and allowed me to ask one question before he quickly hung up. He did prescribe more medication for my dog, however I’m frustrated that pricing wasn’t communicated with me because when I picked up the medication I was not expecting to pay the price I did for this being a “more affordable” vet clinic which is the only reason I went here in the first place. I have never been treated so horribly by a vet clinic or had so many issues. I would rather return to the original veterinary clinic that I was taking my dogs too instead of going some to a place where I feel like they only see me as a walking dollar sign instead of truly caring for my dog who is MY baby. I would recommend ANYWHERE else than this place
Negative experience: I'm only giving this place 1 star, because there's nothing lower. I called 3 weeks ago to make an appointment for our Mama cat to be seen for her teeth, because she wasn’t eating, and for a mass that has grown in her abdomen. I informed them that I have a half-feral, female cat that is very hard to catch and that was diagnosed with dental disease at another clinic that we took her to for urgent care, which had been $330. I took my cat to MaxFund today for her 2:30 appointment. My trusted friend arrived at 9am, because Mama had been in the carrier since 11pm the night before. They told us we did not have an appointment and told her to go down the street or to another clinic. My friend had to beg to get her seen, because they were only looking up what they thought I said was her name, baby. I said her name was Mama. They could have looked it up under my name and found it there, but they didn't. So, because she was begging them, they created a list of things to charge me and I had already told them it's her teeth and a mass in her abdomen. It’s called “rope a dope” and I guess I was the sucker. She fell for the B.S. But, she told them to start at the beginning, because Mama didn’t need all the shots yet. They gave her a form to sign for blood tests, which included rabies, FVRCP, felv boosters and PSE and a few other things to pad the bill. She signed it, because she believed that they were doing the basics first and was told she would have to have these tests in order to have a surgery. She left Mama there for a few hours, because they had to take Mama as a walk-in. When we picked her up they gave her paperwork and then she had to ask to talk to the doc before she left. They put her in a room and when the doctor entered, he asked if she had the x-rays. She said, no they did bloodwork. He didn’t mention her teeth. She said, we came here to get her teeth worked on because she isn’t eating. She said, can’t you see how skinny she is? She spits her food out and runs away when she eats. We have to give her soft, ground up, wet, watery food. So, he said, the mass may be a carcinoma and often in cats they turn out to be malignant. If the x-ray comes back as malignant we won’t do anything more for her. So, why do all the bloodwork before doing the x-ray of the growth??? While she was in the with doc, the front desk lady came in to tell her that they found the appointment after all. So, she didn’t get to finish with the doc. They charged us $542 anyway. They didn't even give us anything for her pain. They didn't even look at the paperwork that urgent care sent to them, because we already knew she had dental disease. They cannot say they never heard of any of this, because we also said it over the phone. We came to Max Fund, because they work with low income and we were also told that. This place is a joke. It's a misrepresentation to say they work with income and then create charges. It’s suspicious why the lady from the front desk interrupted the visit with the doc. Who does that??? Was she trying to hide that the appointment was set up for the tumor? The doc said he’d be back, but didn’t return. BTW: MaxFund isn’t accredited with the BBB. “A business's BBB rating is lowered when BBB has knowledge of the following: … Finalized government actions against the business that relate to its marketplace activities and, in BBB's opinion, raise questions about the business's ethics or its reliability in providing products/services.” I wonder if their sponsors know what they are doing to customers, price gouging them. This post is going up everywhere. If MaxFund wants to work with us in an integral manner, we will take it down. Sponsors: Blue Sky Plumbing, StarBuds, No Kill Colorado, Trish Kelly Real Estate If you love your pet don't take them there. Sneaky SOBs. They're looking at their botton line with that nonprofit.
Negative experience: We set up an appointment for our cat to have dental work and they said that's what they would do. I let them know when we dropped her off that she had a mass that needed to be looked at and biopsied. I asked them to start at the beginning with teeth and mass and to go from there. I had not really given permission to do everything else. I feel like they ignored me. What they actually did was charge us for rabies and boosters and checked heart and kidneys, sedation and physical exam. The doc came in and told us that they needed to take X-rays of a mass in her abdomen before they fix her teeth, so why charge the other blood tests if the mass might be malignant? We payed 542 dollars for things we didn't ask for. If they were fair, they would use the money we have given them for her x-ray. We also thought that Max Fund worked with income. If they ever did, they don't anymore. We were given paperwork to call certain charities. We don't have the money for the care that our Mama needs and we definitely won't have it if we continue to be price gauged. She has lost so much weight and is very much skin and bones. We feel all her ribs and can count the bumps on her spine. I feel like they could see how skinny she is and that her teeth needed work so she can eat. I don't know how that would be overlooked.
Fantastic experience: The staff and doctor are really informative and caring!! Are boy had to have surgery done to remove a mass on his Hine leg and teeth cleaning. The doctor and nurse took great care and made sure we understood everything needed for aftercare at home thanks maxfund wellness center we give you 5 paws!!
