Dr. Elliott is a phenomenal veterinarian who provides compassionate care to her patients while offering genuine support to pet owners. She is incredibly knowledgeable and leads a team of friendly, highly skilled professionals. Fantastic experience: 5 stars specifically for Dr. ELLIOTT. SHE IS AN ABSOLUTE SAINT. My baby girl, Callie 'Bones' just made it to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. The last month has been the absolute worst for all of us. The only light we had was Dr Elliott. She does not play into your emotions to attack your wallet (unlike another dr there. Can't remember his name and hes lucky for that). She loves animals and you can feel that. I would recommend her 10/10 times. Thank you again Dr Elliott.

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend them - they saw us right away on December 24th when our Dog had an abscess tooth, prescribed antibiotics and anti-inflammatory and a follow-up dental. Dr Drakeford was very understanding, compassionate and reasonable. We had been with another vet - who could not see us on Dec 24 - so we are now changing vets. This was a great experience and I would recommend them for you pets. Also a added bonus the dental was much more reasonable than most Las Vegas Vets and our dog’s remaining teeth look great!

Fantastic experience: This place is very caring of animals and their health. My two cats are there now in boarding while I travel in Asia. While they are boarding, the cats receive spay and neuter for my male and female cats, updated shots and meals till we get home. Thank you to the doctors and personnel who are amazing.

Fantastic experience: I've been using this place since my pups were 6mo old. Now they're going on 13 yrs. Everyone there is pleasant and easy to get along with. I really like that it's also an emergency hospital and they are great about getting you in short notice when or if needed. I also enjoy the fact that you earn points from the services you do use and with those points you can get money off your visits, shots, etc..

Fantastic experience: From the front desk, to the medical assistants, to any DR we see, we are very happy with the care provided by West Charleston Animal Hospital. Our pup has a sensitive temperament and we have never had an issue at the office. They handle any and all accommodations we need, confidently. I trust the staff when I have to bring her in. My pup had to get weekly injections for almost 6 months and she was never anxious/ stressed when entering due to the team treating her so well. I have never seen a (normally anxious) dog so happy/ excited to walk into the vet.

Negative experience: Went in to get vaccines for my dog. Was charged for 2 different line items: DA2PP and Parvovirus vaccines. As far as I know DA2PP includes parvo. That's what one of the Ps stands for in DA2PP. The front desk girl said it didn't. Either the girl doesn't know her vaccines, or they charging double for parvo vaccines.

Fantastic experience: I will never go to another Veterinarian! This place is the BEST and everyone who works there is kind and inspirational.

Fantastic experience: The staff was very attentive taking care of Charlie. It was thoroughly described on how he needs to get his meds administered. We have been with that pet clinic for over a decade and can highly recommend it

Negative experience: My cat was scheduled for a teeth cleaning at West Charleston Animal Hospital, and I also wanted to address a lump I was concerned about. When Dr. Amani Lee came in, I addressed my concerns. She returned with an itemized estimate, but it was very difficult to read; it was hard to line up the procedure with its correct cost. While trying to read it, I took the estimate off the clipboard so I could use the clipboard itself to better align the items and costs. Dr. Lee abruptly took the clipboard out of my hands. When I told her, I was having difficulty reading the estimate and asked if I could use the clipboard to help, she replied, "no this clipboard is mine." I then reached out for the pen she was holding so I could use it to help read, and she pulled back, saying I shouldn't "yank the pen from her hands." My mother and I were shocked by her escalating rudeness and defensive behavior as we were simply trying to read a confusing estimate. Dr. Lee then became confrontational, stating that we were being "rude" and eventually told us, "you're welcome to find another vet." When I asked for clarification, she repeated, "If you want, I can get you another vet." The situation was completely unacceptable, and we almost left. Fortunately, Dr. Lee brought in Dr. Jon Kempf. We explained what happened, and Dr. Kempf was incredibly calm, professional, and empathetic. He took the time to address all our concerns, made us feel comfortable, and we decided to proceed with the cleaning. The reason this isn't a one-star review is solely because of Dr. Kempf. His professionalism saved the appointment. However, the experience with Dr. Lee was deeply unsettling, unprofessional, and is concerning for a healthcare provider. I hope the management addresses this issue. Given the extremely unprofessional interaction, I also recommend the hospital consider installing cameras in the patient rooms. I have provided a complete account, and I can assure you there was nothing we did to provoke this behavior from Dr. Lee. This entire situation was as ridiculous as it sounds.

Negative experience: Phillip Lutanda is the ABSOLUTE WORST ever. I took my dog in for a teeth cleaning & HE should be the one getting his teeth cleaned because his breath STUNK!!!!! I almost threw up. Not only that.. but he was so insanely unprofessional. Making comments about not being “able to afford” ??? Im sure there’s a nicer way of saying that. He made what I THOUGHT was going to be an easy experience into A NIGHTMARE. He’s rude & SOOOOO unprofessional. How he’s made it this far is INSANE. I’ve been coming to this vet for YEARS & I will NEVER return. He makes an awful name for this place. He’s a disgusting example of a human being. He should be fired & honestly go to therapy or seek professional help. If this is the vet you’re offered PLEASE ask for someone else. If there’s one thing you can take from this, let it be that! He should NOT be qualified to touch another dog let alone speak to a human being again. It’s THAT serious. Do better

Fantastic experience: Been bringing our 12 y/o Chihuahua to West Charleston Animal hospital for over a year now after being so disappointed with the care and price gouging of a local VCA. Our dog has had many issues with her health as she is growing older and Dr. Kempf always handles her with care and compassion. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Since 2004, I have been taking my dogs to West Charleston Animal Hospital. They are always friendly and kind. They also accept walk ins which is great when you are too busy to make an appointment. I even have a favorite vet, Dr. Jones, although I’m certain all are friendly. I never feel pressured to purchase unnecessary procedures that some other pet owners tell me they get offered to buy at their vets. I tell all my friends to go to West Charleston Animal Hospital. I know you’ll like them.

Negative experience: My family and I have been bringing our pets here for over 15 years, ever since I was a kid seeing Dr. Jones, who has been an amazing Veterinarian to all our furry family members. Unfortunately, I cannot let what happened at our most recent visit slide, and because of Dr. Amani Lee, my whole family will no longer be returning to this practice. On 9/23/25, we took our almost 10-year-old dog in for a mobility evaluation, her routine vaccines, and a wound on her toe. Instead of compassionate care, she left more sore, traumatized, and injured than when we arrived. The staff took her to the back exam room without us, which our dog has done dozens of times as we have been bringing her to West Charleston exclusively since she was 6 weeks old. She was returned in a muzzle we were never told about. She came back bleeding from her nostrils and struggling to breathe because the muzzle forced her mouth shut while she inhaled blood. She was absolutely terrified, straining to get back to me for safety. I ended up on the floor, sobbing and trying to stop her bleeding myself, while the staff stood by and did nothing. Dr. Lee dismissed what happened, even mocking the situation by physically acting out how our dog “flailed” and injured herself to no one else’s fault. My best guess is instead of communicating to us that our dog was nervous and scared, they used any force necessary to perform the procedures so they could move to the next patient more quickly. After I paid for the bill I asked the front staff if I could receive a call to speak with the Practice Manager to discuss what had happened. I was told I would receive a call the following Monday, 9/15/25, but I never did. Now, not only is our dog physically sore but she is emotionally traumatized, and so am I. What should have been a simple visit became one of the most horrifying experience. After decades of loyalty, we will never return.

Fantastic experience: West Charleston Animal Hospital is absolutely the best in town! The level of care they provide for both pets and their parents is unmatched. From the very first visit to unexpected emergencies, they go above and beyond every single time. The staff is compassionate, professional, and truly dedicated to the well-being of every animal that comes through their doors. You can tell they genuinely love what they do, and that makes all the difference. I wouldn’t trust my pets with anyone else, simply the best!

Negative experience: We had great help with many vets but Dr. Lutanda was incredibly cold and casual towards our pet that wasn’t eating for over 5 days and hiding from us. (We visited twice over these days as our pet didn’t improve with antibiotics) He said these things can happen because of changes in routine when in reality, our pet’s body was shutting down. He is polite and the staff is kind but our experience was horrific as we felt like we were shrugged off when asking about lab results. We have doctors in the family and were told that the lab results were a clear indicator of an emergency. Our visits did not reflect that whatsoever. The vet told us to see a specialist the next week. But the results showed that our pet was in a situation where his body was actively shutting down. He had hours to live. Never once was there any sense of urgency from the vet or any attempt to palliate our pet's suffering. He didn’t eat for days and we had to ask for an appetite stimulant ourselves. We were not warned to prepare for end of life. We found this out ourselves and went to an emergency vet. They unfortunately confirmed this instantly. There we had to make the heartbreaking decision. Our pet suffered unnecessarily due to this vet’s casual attitude. I can't even imagine what we would have witnessed or what our pet would have felt if we waited for the next appointment.

Fantastic experience: Great place for all your animal needs. Well through out all procedures and kept me up to date in my cats surgery. My to go for all my furr babies needs.

Negative experience: A doctor took my dog back to exam him and came back with a list of recommendations and I declined them all because it turned out my dog was fine. He then proceeded to say he already gave him a vaccine I never asked for and wanted me to pay for it… they never once asked if my dog needed it nor did I give authorization to vaccinate my dog. I’m all for vaccinating my dog but he wasn’t due for it … I won’t be coming back for that reason but the front staff was nice and they accept walk ins.

Negative experience: I had an appointment today at 9 am. I arrived early to complete paperwork and give them the paperwork for my pups insurance. I was never acknowledged not even a hello. I walked up to the counter and the receptionist continued tying on the computer for a few minutes and again without acknowledging my presence walks to the back. I waiting another 10 mins without so much as a hello and decided to leave. I would not recommend this place. I came to them based on the recommendation from the pet store I bought my poodle from and I’m upset because I drove 30 mins when I could’ve made an appointment with a vet that was closer and probably more professional.

Fantastic experience: 16 years ago I inherited GIGI when she was 4. She needed shots, so I went to West Charleston. I knew no one, Dr. Jones took care of us. Fortunately, throughout the years, Gigi was pretty healthy with exception of a few allergies and required shots. We had more time with her than most, but recently she lost here hearing and eyesight, and never complained. A few months ago her back legs started to weaken, we saw Dr. Jones...probably DM disease. Watching the decline and struggle is heartbreaking, on May 2, 2025 I had to make the decision. Dr Jones and staff made the unbearable, bearable with kindness and compassion. We may never cross paths again, but this moment in time will be something I will remember forever in my heart and mind because of who Dr Jones and the folks at WC are....The Best

Fantastic experience: Dr.Elliot is a saint and the whole staff are so helpful and knowledgeable. They saved our Kiki’s life with a risky operation at an old age. She was full of life and it made her final year with us a positive one… and a year later when she got cancer in her mouth, Dr.Elliot was right there with us and helped us through our toughest day ever. She made the hardest thing we’ve had to do, a little less rough on us. She was patient and respectful of our grieving process. She treated Keeks with so much love and care in those final moments. Now with our boy Pickle having some dental issues one a handful of months later (common with chihuahuas) we naturally were extra anxious and worried and when I asked to have Dr.Elliot, she didn’t hesitate to be the one to help. She remembers our dogs and us and is so kind and helpful. Dr.Elliot is extremely down-to-earth and speaks on our level, and is just REAL with us which is rarely the case elsewhere. She always tries to give us the best options and rather than trying to bully us into paying for things, she walks us through options and asks our budget and helps us do the most with what we have. She doesn’t BS you, she’s blunt but in a helpful and respectable way. She gets right to the point, answers all your questions, and lays out exactly what to expect, good or bad. We just got our Pickle back from a cleaning and multiple tooth extractions and she managed to come under our budget on it - AND they threw in a nail grind/trim at no cost and didn’t even mention it. Just a nice little surprise to show they truly care about the animals they see. While vet visits generally are stressful and expensive, and the doctors have no control over the pricing, this place does everything in their power to make it worth every penny. They all go above and beyond every single time and go out of their way to show that they are in this field because they love helping animals, not because they want your money. 10/10 recommend Dr.Elliot, and I’m positive any other doctor there is just as wonderful.

Fantastic experience: West Charleston Animal Hospital was so kind. From the moment I reached out to them via online about needing care for my Chihuahua Bugsy they didn't hesitate to reach out to me. They gave Bugsy an appointment the very next morning. The staff was so kind, polite and professional. The Dr { Dr K } was very kind and showed concern for both Bugsy and myself. He gave all needed info about what he could do for Bugsy and was transparent on the cost. Very understanding he and his staff. I highly recommend this facility for you and your furbabies. Fantastic experience: It was nice to feel welcomed and heard. The dr. took time to explain things and we didn't feel rushed. The office staff was very friendly as well. The other thing that impressed me was if they missed our call, we got a text acknowledging our call along with office info. and medical emergencies.

Negative experience: BEWARE. When boarding your dog, take your collar and leash home. This place lost my boy's leather collar and also misplaced the Tupperware containers I handed to them for his personal food. They also will be sneaky and add things to your bill without your acknowledgment until, upon checking out is when you find that they added something I NEVER requested. Like an Anal gland expression. I DO NOT RECOMMEND going here. They are dishonest and lose your personal items. Unprofessional BIG TIME!!

Fantastic experience: West Charleston Animal Hospital showed obvious care for my Izzy. They took cleaned up her mouth and made sure she had what she needed while she recovered. We will be making regularly cleanings for all 4 of our dogs there and I don't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Positive experience: I brought my Rickee in for a wellness and they didn't tell me he was due for 2 vaccines. He has an enlarged heart and bent Tricia and he gets very nervous at the vets. Now I have to put him in distress again to get shots. I love his vet though she is great. Her assistant should of seen the record....

Negative experience: I will never come here again. Every-time i go it is a terrible experience (I have been a patient for over 4 years) . The staff is great and nice but the doctor himself is unknowable and aggressive with the animals. My most recent experience today left me in tears. He yanked my puppies ear and was not gentle at all. He also makes false accusations and is completely clueless with his staff. If you love your animals as much as I do I would not recommend you bring your animals here. They are also extremely expensive and will charge you thousand of dollar for unneeded treatments that you can find cheaper and more effective elsewhere.

Negative experience: I would go elsewhere. The staff are rude and were disrespectful towards my daughter. There was a miscommunication about Carecredit. The implication of us not wanting to pay and the attitude there after was unacceptable. Horrible experience. The staff made us feel less than. Shame on you! We will take our 5 dogs and 1 cat elsewhere

Fantastic experience: I have been coming here for years. I trust all the doctors, but I have mostly worked with Dr. Jones. He has taken care of several of my babies. I trust him completely. He never rushes and makes sure I don't leave until all my questions are answered.

Negative experience: I came in for a rabies vaccine and ended up having a $450.00 bill after my pup had an allergic reaction to some nausea medicine (Cerenia) the doctor recommended when my pup was throwing up the next morning. After this experience I don't trust this place or the doctors that work here.

Fantastic experience: Getting shot for my fur baby. West Charleston Animal Hospital was wore very promote in getting us scheduled in for required shots. Staff is amazing and great customer service. Plenty of parking and fur baby friendly. Lobby is clean and fresh. Appointment was scheduled at 7:00 promptly seen after checking in. KC was in an out quickly. They also have an excellent boarding facility. Thank you again West Charleston Animal Hospital.

Negative experience: This used to be the best vet now it’s terrible. For one dr lutonda took my dog in the back and managed to break my dogs nail cuz they weren’t watching him and doing their job. They then charge me for breaking his toe and when I return for a bandage changed wanted to me pay an addition $70 on top of the $200 I already paid. And wanted to change it twice. Then tells me to come in for meds that would be 30 plus tax and when I arrive it’s $62 after waiting 45 min when it was said to be ready. Do not recommended. You break my dogs toe and still charge me is insane.

Fantastic experience: I love boarding Jerry, I always feel at peace that my cranky baby will be in good hands and loved and cared for. He is not easy and I always worry, but the boarding staff is soooo loving that it makes feel at ease to leave him there!

Fantastic experience: Hands down, the best thing about this animal hospital is Dr. Jones. My entire family have been taking our pets to see him for over 10 years. My wife and I have taken our fur babies EXCUSIVELY to see him for about 7 years. I've had so many fur babies over the years and have seen many vets. Most have been fine but Dr.Jones is THE most real, compassionate, honest, and amazing vets, and humans we have ever encountered. We are moving to the east coast soon and while we have friends and family here whom we will miss, it's Dr.Jones who we are dreading leaving behind lol. No hyperbole, there can be no one more trusting, capable, and amazing as this doctor. The world needs more of him, truly. Dr.Jones, you will never know or understand how much your presence, professionalism, and empathy has impacted our lives and the lives of all our fur babies for the better. Thank you for everything you've done for us and what you continue to do for others. (Don't worry, you'll never truly be rid of us; we will likely make visits back to Vegas with our babies just so they can be treated by you lol). ❤️

Fantastic experience: This place was amazing for me and this cute little turd name Chewie. This is the first time I have had a puppy and the Veterinarian doctors were very informative. Dr. Jones saw me today, answered all my questions, and gave me very good pointers to help in training Chewie. Dr. Kempf was the initial Vet and he did the same on that visit. It's easy to tell that the entire staff is there to help both your fur baby and you as the caretaker. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, Alicia helped me today but others were very nice as well. Everyone made me feel welcome. I highly recommend this place and am glad others told me to go here.

Negative experience: This place will KILL your dog, beware!!! They gave my friends’ dog a rabies shot and her dog was still and dead the very next day. They won’t take responsibility. These rabies vaccines are killing dogs and you need to say NO regardless. There are other vets that won’t push it. They are pushy with it and won’t even do nail trims without an up to date one because they care more about money than the life of an animal and I’m looking into suing them right now. This has to stop!

Negative experience: Dr jones has 0 bed side manner. he acts like he hates dogs or is irritated with them. gets mad if my dogs lick him or try to be sweet with him. if something's wrong he always go straight to the highest estimates possible and doesn't explain anything. has his little staff do it for him, and when you question it they magically come back with estimates half cheaper than the last. he thinks he's gods gift. everytime i come here you guys are inconsiderate and rude. time to find a new vet

Fantastic experience: Dr. Jones explained Sooner's procedure in detail to my understanding. Staff is professional, courteous, and friendly. Follow-up after Sooner's procedure was very thorough with calls from staff and Dr. Jones. Prices are reasonable.

Positive experience: I’m a new dog owner. So when I had to go out of town and I didn’t have anyone to watch my pup, I panicked a bit. I visited a few boarding places, but they were either too expensive or too far away. I called our trusted vet’s office (at west Charleston) and they do boarding.. I was thinking what better place to watch him than the people I go to for every other need for my dog. Sure enough, everything went smoothly. I got him back happy, healthy and all clean :) because they offered a complementary bath after his two night stay. My only “complaint” - not really a complaint, it just would have been nice - was that they didn’t go over at pickup how he did and when he was last fed. But West Charleston Animal Hospital will be my go to for all my pet’s needs. I can definitely recommend them.

Negative experience: Do not go to this clinic. doctor sevice has declined especially from Dr Kempz. Previously , my doctor Aijah Bradford was stellar! She explained well what her findings were and what we need to do. She was re-assuring and really cared. Though she was busy, she gave a callback right away when she got the results of my pets blood work despite being busy. This was consistent as I had her look at my pets several times.She is no longer in this clinic… so sad. Fairly recently, I had to bring my pet to be seen. We got a doctor named Dr Kempz and really was talking in circles what he think it was. Never really explained well (basically blabbing away) and pushed to get bloodwork done to assess and results will be available after 2 days. Never called within 2 days, texted them to remind them and then, let his staff call to give results and guess what, my dogs still sick and didn’t give any instructions or guidance on what needs to be done next. Just said bloodwork is normal. So in my mind what about my dog as he clearly is not normal and still sick!! Such a really shitty experience with Dr Kempz!!! I had to acquire the bloodwork test and I went to see my 24/7 Vet virtual Helpline through my pet insurance [Nationwide Pet Ins). I got more care and better explanation on how to take care of my dog than the doctor assigned to us in this clinic. Front desk Staff were nice and caring at least. Dr Kempz should train under his staff and learn tons of things from them.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Elliot has been nothing but helpful, considerate, and extremely kind. I had to get a second opinion after my previous vet left me feeling hopeless. Not only was she passionate about getting to the bottom of my concerns, she was so helpful and considered doing things that weren’t even offered before. I will be recommending to everyone I know! Thank you to Dr. Elliot and all of the kind staff.

Our Joshie is a 12 years old Yorkie and he has been receiving the best care thanks to Dr Jones!! He is so professional and friendly, his whole team is amazing!! Positive experience: I've visited this hospital several times for my cat's check-ups and vaccines, and it's always been my go-to place. However, the vet I saw this time seemed disinterested. He wasn't exactly rude, but his lack of care for my cat was off-putting. He appeared dismissive, didn't listen to my concerns, and only asked a few questions before a treatment plan was brought by an assistant. Instead of explaining possible reasons for my cat's behavior, it felt like they were just pushing treatments and labs to take my money. I understand they can't give a definitive diagnosis without testing, but it seemed unnecessary. I opted for the labs and medication, but it felt avoidable. I'm not very upset, but I'll keep this experience in mind if I return.

Negative experience: Make sure you look at your bill before your pay them anything. I recently had my dog neutered and they offered to complementary chip him and clip his nails with the procedure. Well, they snuck a $69 charge for the chip onto my bill. Which is also an absurd amount just to chip a pup. They will also continuously hound you about add ons that are completely unnessary. Just be careful, they are very sneaky.

Fantastic experience: 5/21 update: We brought in our dog for an ear hematoma, which I luckily have had experience with. Dr. Jone was awesome taking care of Bambi and coming up with a less invasive and expensive way to help drain the ear. Glad we switched to WCAH! We had a less than stellar first visit with Abby. We decided it was because we did not care for Dr. Owens, his lack of enthusiasm and his overall personality in regard to our dogs health. He did not seem to care. He spoke to us for seemingly all of 30 seconds. We decided to give it another shot and bring Bambi and asked specifically not to see Dr. Owens and we had a much better experience. I don’t remember who we saw, but he listened and educated us. Overall, a much better experience than our first visit.

Negative experience: Approximately two weeks ago, my three pups underwent dental cleaning, and my pitbull also had some bumps removed for testing. Despite being assured that someone would contact me within three days to discuss the results, I received no communication. After calling four times over the following 11 days, each time being promised a call from a doctor, I still heard nothing. There was a lack of follow-up on my dogs' post-procedure care, which used to be standard. Although I was given paperwork with instructions, there was no in-person explanation. The most concerning incident occurred this morning when I brought my pitbull in for stitch removal at 7 am. After a 40-minute wait, I was informed that the doctor wasn't available, despite being told otherwise when confirming the appointment. Upon returning home, I noticed that one of the stitches had split open on my dog's right side, leading to bleeding. Upon contacting the vet, I was told that the doctor should have been informed of my visit and that I should bring my dog back in. This experience has left me extremely dissatisfied with the lack of communication and care. My dogs are my priority, and I intend to seek veterinary care elsewhere, where these values are upheld. While everyone makes mistakes, repeated occurrences like these are unacceptable. Update on my latest review: Took my dog back to get re-stitched after getting un-stitched incorrectly, and we are still incredibly disappointed. She is anxious and confused, and deprived of bathing and park outings for what will be over a month, due to the recommendations, and she needs more antibiotics for two additional weeks. Oh, and, on top of that, they sent us home with another dog's discharge paperwork. Also overheard mumbles of staff members discussing other staff members in the back, and discussing something about a lack of care. It all sounds like a lack of care, a lack of respect and a lack of awareness. This lack of attention and genuine care is deeply troubling. It's not merely an isolated error but a disturbing trend of neglect. Our pets deserve superior care. We won't be returning, and I strongly urge them to improve their standards moving forward.

Fantastic experience: Dr Kempf has taking great care of my pup, Zoeyjane. She has many health condition since she was a puppy and Dr Kempf has given her more than 9 lives. Before seeing him I went to over 30 different vets and she was misdiagnosed for 7 years. Thanks

Fantastic experience: My 2 dogs go here and it's the best animal hospital in town! They have a great dental special until the end of may and it's reassuring to know that my dogs mouths are cleaned properly and have exceptional patient care from the entire staff. Big thanks to the doctors, vet assistants, licensed veterinary technicians, kennel attendants, receptionists, and the office managers for always making sure I'm taking care of and my pets

Negative experience: We came to them with our dog because he was sick to his stomach. Three days stay and several thousand dollars later they told us he had appendicitis. Took him home, with a slew of medication’s, where he continued to get worse and worse. These people assured us through x-rays and bloodwork that he was fine otherwise. We ended up having to take him to an another doctor after the other assured us he needed time and to change diet etc. Other vet told us that our dog had an aggressive form of lymphoma, that the other vet just completely missed. Our poor dog had to suffer because these people don’t know how to properly Diagnose. I would not recommend taking your pet here under any circumstances. Caused our poor pet and my family to suffer unnecessarily. They could’ve done something to help him then but instead prolonged this nightmare. They’re money hungry and charged us like crazy-thousands of dollars for absolutely nothing.

Fantastic experience: Been going to West Charleston Veterinary for over 15 years. I've had no problems, they understand the needs of my pet, and keeps me informed about their yearly shots. Pet boarding cost is also very reasonable.

Negative experience: DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. I took my dog here because she was having stomach problems. She was throwing up, and not eating. They put her on medicine and IV for an entire week. She started getting better near the end of the week, but she was not digesting any of her food, so the following Monday they decided to do surgery on her to check for any blockage because according to them they couldn’t see any blockage in the x rays. Also, every time I would ask what exactly is wrong with her, they would never give a straight answer. It seems like Dr. Jonathan Owen doesn’t know how to properly diagnose. After surgery they let me know that they found nothing that is blocking her stomach. I just don’t understand how a vet can not be sure what’s wrong. She did start to digest food, so they let me take her home the following Saturday (she was in there for two weeks). My dog seemed fine, but she appeared to be traumatized from the whole situation. Every time my dog would fall asleep, she will end up crying and fussing. I will have to rub her face, and wake her up in order to calm her down. I did this all day/night. Never have I seen an animal of mines act like this from days in the hospital. I don’t know how they treated her behind those closed doors. Judging from how the staff treated me it seems like they don’t handle their job with care. On the second day of having her back from the hospital, she passed away. She was just resting, then she started doing a choking sound, and stopped breathing. I saw nothing in her throat. I took her back to the hospital, and they weren’t so kind! The staff lady that assisted us did not seem to care. She had an attitude of like this was a bother to her. I understand that the hospital can be busy but you are handling people’s animals. This is a job where you need to handle with care and passion. Did not catch her name, but she had dark brown hair, nostril piercings, and fair skin. Please, do not take your pets here. They take up your time, keep your animal hostage, and are awful at diagnosing. To them it’s a transaction. Dr. Jonathan Owen is not a good vet, nor person. Dr. Owen has failed my animal, and has possibly failed many other animals in the past. My review is not the first. There are other awful reviews of this place. I wish I have known before I took her here. ALSO, there will be days where they will not call me, so I will have to call. Never had that experience with a hospital, it’s like they forget they are taking care of a person’s pet.

Fantastic experience: Staff is very friendly with pet parents and pets. Take every case very serious and give all the medical care and attention needed. Doctors and nurses are very professional and communication is detailed. Prices are better than any other hospital.

Fantastic experience: I have bulldogs who require lots of office visits/love and attention (heavy on the attention). I found this vet clinic from word of mouth. I was told Dr Owen’s was THE BEST! So I made an appointment and found that to be the absolute truth. I’m in LOVE with Dr Owen’s. I bred my girl, Phoenix for the first time and was an anxiety ridden mess. Dr. Owen’s accepted me and all my crazy and talked me through EVERYTHING every step of the way. He is such a sweet and supportive Dr. I feel so lucky to have stumbled on his services. My girl was so close to delivery and Dr Owen’s even assembled a special team just to make sure my girl delivered safely on a Sunday. The wait times are often long but I believe it’s because the staff and drs here take their time with every animal they see and sometimes that delays appointments and extends wait times. This place would not be booming day after day with pets if it was not the best. The wait times are worth it for quality care.

Fantastic experience: Something has changed in a good way. The front desk was friendly and told me all about the new offers. The wait wasn’t long at all. Vet tech was very nice and quick. As usual, Dr. Kempf was great! Answered all our questions, was sweet with Gunner, and genuinely listens. We were in and out in less than an hour. Great experience!
