The ASPCA Animal Hospital in New York City is an urgent care facility dedicated to providing veterinary services for animals that have fallen victim to cruelty and neglect, as well as for pets whose owners are experiencing financial hardships. This hospital is committed to offering quality care to city residents with annual household incomes of under $50,000.
Located at 424 East 92nd Street, the hospital operates strictly by appointment from Monday to Friday and does not accept walk-in patients. Aware of the importance of health and safety during the pandemic, they adhere to COVID-19 safety measures by advising pet owners who feel ill to have another caregiver bring in their pets.
The services offered include urgent care and end-of-life services; however, routine check-ups, vaccinations, or preventive care are not performed. For regular consultations, residents are encouraged to contact the Brooklyn or Bronx community veterinary centers.
For those who qualify, the hospital also provides financial assistance, although service costs are not entirely free. Individuals must present supporting documents at the time of the appointment.

ASPCA Animal Hospital - By Appointment Only: Reviews
Positive experience: Be sure to ask many questions, maybe details of what went on in the back, you may not be paying much out of pocket, you may pay w the life of your pet. They're known to withold info, be adamant. Be sure to record convos, especially when uncomfortable
Negative experience: If you live in NY this place is like the city: okay if you can even get in
Fantastic experience: We had to remove teeth for our cat, she had strong dental tartar and her gums starts bleeding. ASPCA much more cheeper then other veterinary! Doctors and nurses are very kind and they are really love pets. They did a great job, and our cat now feels perfect. Firstly they told that our cat need to stay for a night, but then allow to take her in same evening. You may need couple of days to make an appointment. You must call at 8am. But definitely it's worth it. We have call at Thursday, and at Saturday we already visited hospital for first examination and at next Thursday we already had surgery.
Negative experience: They was no help I would not recommend them to anyone find a private vet or an animal hospital like Blue Pearl animal hospital they actual care about your animal like real family
Fantastic experience: My pups currently have parvo virus. I've been back and forth all week. And they also saved my sister pup
Fantastic experience: They were so compassionate and I just wish it wasnt so hard to get appointments too bad its so easy to get an appointment for humane end of life service instead of a medical appointment to avoid end of life. I love they help the low income communities but its so hard to help keep our fury family alive by being able to see them sooner rather than end of life. Either way the sevices from the moment you walk into the building is excellent. I thank the Aspca for their services.
Negative experience: Tired of seeing all thes cry me a river commercials about animals WHEN THIS PATHETIC EXCUSE OF A COMPANY WASTES MILLIONS OF WHAT IS DONATED!! What a joke to think over Half of any donation goes to the ceo and other board members. I donate to local animal shelters that I can vet as being legit. So so SAD people donate here.
Fantastic experience: Great staff and good service, I rather spend my money with them!!!
Fantastic experience: Amazing service with a kind a warm smile. Such humbleness and love for pets is unmatched
Fantastic experience: This place is a blessing , the staff is always amazing
Fantastic experience: I Am So Grateful For Yall Thank You Please Call And Set Up An Appointment Make Sure Call Early They Are Wonderful Thank You Can’t Wait To Bring My Other Dog!
Negative experience: My mother just called at 2:48am December 1st and was worried about our cat right now because it looks like he has a blockage. The girl on the phone was very rude and laughed at my mother. My mother was just asking what to do and see if they can do something because we didn’t want our cat to suffer and needed a cheaper option. She just laughed and was being sarcastic. She wouldn’t give us her name and was VERY disrespectful. She said they couldn’t do anything because he wasn’t adopted from the aspca. Very disappointed and hope she gets fired!
Fantastic experience: Animal hospital on 92nd Street in Manhattan always took very good care
Fantastic experience: ASPCA has been a Godsend! This was my second time utilizing their services and I am amazed again. It is a bit challenging to get an appointment, but when you do they truly work with you to get your FurBaby Happy and Healthy! Two of my cats needed to have teeth removed. In total I paid under $450 to have multiple teeth removed, bloodwork, ex-rays and teeth cleaning. In addition, I've used their mobile services to get my Babies spayed and neutered. Just follow the instructions online to secure an app. It's $125 which is a steal compared to private vets. The staff is out of this world; They are attentive, kind, knowledgable in their field and compassionate! I can't afford a lot, but I will be making monthly donations even if it's five dollars. Please donate as much as you can even if it's a dollar! Our Furry Friends will truly appreciate it!
Negative experience: ⭐☆☆☆☆ Heartbreaking Experience — They Failed My Pet I’m beyond disappointed and angry with the ASPCA on 92nd St. The first doctor I saw focused only on my cat Zoey’s jaw and told me I should consider putting her down, either now or later. That was their solution. I was referred by a friend to an oral surgeon who was able to fix her jaw in one day just by looking at the x-rays and seeing zoey in person the day before. When I brought Zoey back a few days later to have her stints and cast changed (since all four of her paws are broken from her fall), a different doctor saw her and immediately told me how severe her paw injuries were. I asked why no one mentioned this the first time, and she said the note in my file claimed I couldn’t afford surgery. That’s completely untrue and, even if it were, I should have been told the full extent of her injuries from the start. Once again, they told me Zoey “wouldn’t have a good quality of life” and suggested I think about putting her down instead of actually trying to help her heal. This place showed zero compassion, poor communication, and made me feel like giving up was my only option. I also asked to be referred somewhere else for her stint and cast changes because I had to come back not ONCE not TWICE but THREE times in the same day to get her cast replaced when I just came on WEDNESDAY and paid to get them changed. In less than 2 days her cast were coming off. I had to travel back and forth the WHOLE day because the cast were not placed right. Then they tried to say it was Zoey who kept taking them off. Zoey cannot open her jaw and has cast and stints on the rest of her paws so it is very hard for her to try and take them off. The ASPCA really disappointed me because I donate money every month and thought I could put my trust in their care for my baby. I’m definitely going to look into finding another animal clinic that can help my baby in the way that she needs. This experience has been absolutely horrible and I wouldn’t recommend this ASPCA at all.
Negative experience: My dog has to wear a cone,so do to that he has a bad ear infection they said they can't treat him because the reason he has a ear infection is because he has allergies, my dog never had a ear infection until he started wearing a cone and he hasn't eaten or drank water in two days they said they can't help with that because it caused by the ear infection
Negative experience: They take good care of your pets WHEN you finally get an appointment BUT their appointment system is the WORST! I tried calling for my dog that was having some episodes and was told on Friday to call Monday. I started calling for an appointment at 7:55am. I would hang up and call back within seconds. While I was on the phone at 7:59-8:00am it was STILL saying the line was closed. Called back at 8:01am and to my surprise the recording says "unfortunately all appointments are booked"!!! How is it possible for all appointments to be booked within seconds?! What is going on with the phone center?!! Manhattan needs MORE pet resources. While the other boroughs have vans, Manhattan has that sucky phone system that is like trying to visit the land of Oz. Not sure if they think Manhattan is looked at as the wealthy borough but it's not! Then they have the nerve to have the young people out on the streets asking for donations. If I give you a donation would you help my pet in return? I may also add, the times my pet was attended I paid.
Fantastic experience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars I want to thank everyone at the ASPCA Animal Hospital for being so kind and caring with my dog, Mia. She had an emergency operation, and the team was amazing from beginning to end. Everyone went above and beyond to help her. I’m so grateful to all of you for saving my dog’s life. Thank you so much for everything you do — you are truly angels!
Negative experience: Can’t even schedule an appointment with them over the phone just get referred to a machine went in person for my severely ill kitten since no one was able to help (been to 3 different places) only to get turned away rudely and given the same phone number.
Fantastic experience: Took my cat(s) there many times.
Negative experience: They made me go to an outside vet with a cat on death’s door. The vet managed to get a couple thousand out of me on care credit before my cat was laid to rest by a different vet. I used to be a regular donator but I haven’t donated to ASPCA since then. The staff attitude was unforgivable.
Fantastic experience: Took care of our pop
Positive experience: Really shouldn't be so complicated to schedule an appt. Dr. Riley was direct and helpful. Wish they had more support so they can extend their services.
Fantastic experience: My dog was very very sick two years ago almost close too death and they heal her she had surgery now I’m facing new challenges help please can’t get through too talking too anyone
Negative experience: Impossible to get an appointment. Could care less of the condition of the dog.
Fantastic experience: After several visits to my local veterinary offices and several hundred dollars we admitted and accepted that our Lucy was not getting better. She was not eating, losing weight and extremely emaciated. My husband and I agreed to put her down and called the ASPCA where we had rescued her 10 years earlier. On my arrival I was put in the Zen room as was bawling my eyes out saying my goodbyes. However the vet that came in was Dr. Cassano. She was so empathetic and took the time to review Lucy’s records and suggested “one more thing” for us to try. I cannot praise her enough. She recommended a steroid, an antibiotic and a gel for her ear. I am happy to report that my Lucy is thriving after 3 weeks and I will be forever grateful to Dr.Cassano. This young lady is on her way to big things. May God bless her every day. She literally saved my cats life in that one visit. We will forever be grateful to her and the ASPCA. We commend her highly. Eternally grateful, Norma Villalta and Lucy ❤️
Negative experience: This place is Not for the community as they say. It's only for whom they choose to make acceptable, they never answer the phones or return call backs.. I've been waiting on a call back for months now. Honestly I don't think anyone should donate to this facility with the lack of companion they claim for animals
Negative experience: They did a great job checking up on my cat, but this situation is really frustrating. My cat has an emergency and needs an FHO surgery, yet all I’m being told is that the surgeon won’t be available for a couple of weeks, and the earliest surgery date they can offer is in a few months. This is unacceptable for a cat with a dislocated leg and a damaged hip. He is already on pain medication almost every day, and I’m concerned about how long he will need to remain on it. I chose ASPCA because the cost of the surgery is much lower than elsewhere, but the delay feels unprofessional and puts my cat’s recovery at risk. Prolonging the surgery could lead to further complications, such as weakness in his leg or arthritis, and make rehabilitation more difficult. This surgery is expensive, yes, but it is not a procedure that should take months to schedule. I’m very concerned about my cat’s well-being and hope this can be addressed more urgently.
Fantastic experience: Everyone here is so nice, it's my first time coming here because my cat had a limp. Called at 8am and got an appointment for the next day for 8am, the waiting room was spacious and extremely clean and front desk were kind and fast with the process. I only waited 30ish minutes to be called because higher emergency takes priority which is understandable and I did not mind. There's a dog section and cat section that I did not know until I left The only thing that I did not realize until I got home with my cat was that while the vet explained everything while checking my cat and all, did not explain thoroughly of the side affects the opioid would do to my cat, only told me the drug name and advising for me to not touch it. However I should've asked myself the side effects as well, so that was also on me, my cat is now doing slightly better but is still a space cat. She did however explain thoroughly everything else such as the bloodwork, feeling my cat, etc But I also liked how they called me to update her on the results the next day and checking up to see on how my cat is doing/feeling. Overall I really liked the vets and how the treated me and my cat with kindness and patience, as well as front desk. It felt very comfortable there, I got sent with pain killers for her which I will start giving her once the opioid is out of her system. I recommend this place to anyone if their pet has a emergency that needs to be checked within the week ❤️ Update: It's been more than a week or two now and my cat is much better, no longer has the limp and the drug wore off about 3 days after. However she's now way more affectionate compared to before, still bites hard when playing but REALLY likes pets now. Back then she would only let me pet her for a few seconds and then bite me. But now she comes to my hand and sleeps on my arm
Negative experience: Dr. J. Fenichel X We sincerely appreciate the care and evaluation the doctor was able to provide to her availability. However, we were instructed to follow the instructions in how to administer the medications to our Tiny in which we did, which in turn after a few days of seeing a lot of progress in Tiny she relapsed!! We managed to rush Tiny to a veterinarian as an emergency walk in. The vet examined Tiny even further and prescribed a different antibiotic with a slight higher dose, and the vet said to also use the lactulose. Now, the instructions on administering the lactulose is completely different from I was instructed by the aspca pharmacist, which caused so much harm to Tiny because If your pharmacist and doctor would've instructed the same so much could've been avoided!!! As doctors don't limit your knowledge. Share all you know to save the lives of animals. Also, don't be so quick to recommend euthanasia!! I understand euthanasia is only for extreme situations not a coward and lazy way out from responsibilities!!
Positive experience: Never able to give an appointment.if you trying to spay and neuter which is highly recommended then work with us.No wonder is an over population of dogs and cats. Can really do better.
Negative experience: I was looking for a low cost facility to take my two pets.. After seeing the reviews. I changed my mind, especially the cat behavior after being treated..As well the owner response when others are speaking their mind … His belly is full he doesn’t care … if he gets good reviews or not… In life you get what you paid for…. Bottom line… My pet deserves the best …
Fantastic experience: Additional: I was also dissatisfied with the female receptionist and the female security guard: they did not know the hospital's services and actually told me that the hospital did not offer cesarean sections! Fortunately, I got an appointment for surgery the next day. The stray cat my mom rescued unexpectedly became pregnant. When she started bleeding, I rushed her to a mobile veterinary clinic for a prenatal checkup. The vet told me she needed an emergency C-section—and the cost would be $1,750, which I simply couldn’t afford. Thanks to a suggestion from ChatGPT, I reached out to the ASPCA for help. To my surprise, they scheduled the surgery the very same day, and based on my income, I only needed to pay $212.50. I was overjoyed and so relieved for my cat! Dr. An,the veterinarian, was incredibly kind and patient. He even arranged interpreter services to make sure I fully understood the medical terms. The surgery went smoothly, and the very next day, Dr. An called to let me bring home the proud new mama and her tiny kittens. I am deeply grateful to the entire ASPCA team for their compassion and dedication. Because of them, my cat and her babies are safe and healthy. I hope to give back in the future by donating to the ASPCA, so this circle of kindness can continue. ❤️
Negative experience: My puppy and I had already visited the community clinic location and was told that her condition needed to be under control before being vaccinated etc. So I called back to the ASPCA Animal Hospital line so she could be seen there and when I finally reached through, it was like the agent was scheduling for the community clinic because she told me they weren't equipped to help with my pets condition?!? Like I was calling for the hospital, not the clinic! I raised up funding and went elsewhere and my pet was taken care of in 1 visit! I feel like they pick and choose who they want to help! I fall under the income requirement so why was my baby denied service? She couldve died!
Negative experience: I have an old poodle dog. She jumped from bed to floor and hit her back. She was walking badly for a week without being able to support her leg on the floor. A vet near home for the medication and X-rays consultation asked me for 1000 dollars. I told them I couldn't pay and they don't care. I called ASPCA and they never respond. I wrote them emails and they don't answer either. I made a video call with a veterinary doctor in Mexico and prescribed medication for pain and inflammation. But nobody wanted to. Sell me anything without a prescription made in the United States. Neither pharmacies nor veterinarians. Thank God my neighbors with pets asked family and friends and I got the medication completely free of charge and it does not suit me perfectly well.
Negative experience: Yall need to get rid of the two security officers or whatever they are cause clearly they don’t know anything about animals and are only there to dismiss anyone who doesn’t have an appointment at the front. They have a very demanding tone and attitude, I tried speaking to them to see what other information they were able to provide us with since my baby (13yr old cat) was extremely sick. And all they provided was the same link that guided me to the exact same hospital. I swear to you, they were itching for a fight and a fight I wanted to give them but given my circumstances, my baby is way more important so I left to another hospital. For an organization who loves animals, yall doing wrong by keeping those two ladies at the front so hopefully something changes.
Negative experience: So today I was concerned about my pet. Seen this location close to my house. I didnt check to website where it says no walk ins. But once again I was very concerned about my pet. Came here and was turned away but the woman who came in after me also a walk in might I add was seen. How does that make since? They wouldnt even give me see my pet. The security on duty tried kicking us out. Is this what your company is about? Is this how you help the community? Because I’m not hispanic my pet can’t receive help?
Negative experience: trying to make an appointment here is impossible, i called at 8:00am on the dot and was met with a message by a bot explaining that all appointments were unavailable, i called repeatedly only to be met with the same option, if your pet is in critical condition, don’t waste your time trying to call here.
Fantastic experience: I needed to get some information for my two pets, my cat and my dog. It was a great experience so the employer was very friendly, helpful, courteous
Positive experience: I'm not one to disparage the ASPCA. Got many many animals (pets) from them. They do GREAT work.
Fantastic experience: ❤️ 5 months later. My male cat is perfectly fine since after his neutering in Dec 2024. Need to request his paperwork that was done on my male cat since they haven't given it to my son's upon picking up (St Michael) which was done in 161 st Bronx
Positive experience: The hospital and everyone who works there are great, phenomenal, caring, courteous and professional with the exception of a person named Li who said he is a manager. Ever since he started working there he's made it very difficult for us to get a food prescribed by the vet. In the over twenty years we have been supporting and bringing our animals to this center we have received phenomenal care and Li is the only one who has caused problems and has been rude and unwelcoming. We've never seen anyone as rude and inconsiderate in any vet office in over 50 years as a pet owner.
Negative experience: I have been calling and trying to make an appointment for the past few months and a always recording saying that there are no appointments available. This is unacceptable for a low income senior citizen who cannot afford an expensive vet for her sick chihuahua.
Fantastic experience: I have wonderful good experience in the hospital, all staff are very professional and dedicated, they save the life of my pet and I am very grateful for that! Thanks from the bottom of my heart!
Fantastic experience: professional caring Vets and staff are phenomenal !they love animals and saved my cats life! like other reviewers said if i could give 10 stars i would ! thankyou aspca and your staff for caring,
Fantastic experience: we have made the difficult decision to humanely euthanize our cherished four-legged companions, Luna & Layla. Despite the emotional turmoil and complexity of making that decision, the ASPCA was extremely accommodating once I was able to reach them on the phone. Their staff was courteous and helpful. Throughout regular working office hours, I was able to leave my number for a call back. I received the call back shortly afterward, indicating availability for the same day, which was a heart wrenching feeling to have knowing that today would be the last day. However, their staff was more than helpful not only with my pets but also with my emotional well-being during this challenging process. The facilities were exceptionally beautiful. The veterinarians were extremely polite and helpful. Both of my dogs received excellent care in their final moments. As a pet owner, making the difficult decision to let your beloved companions pass is the most challenging aspect of pet ownership. **Note:** If you are a pet owner experiencing an emergency over the weekend, the ASPCA will not be able to assist you. Their phone lines are not operational during these hours, and attempting to contact them will likely result in frustration. In the event of an emergency, it is imperative to seek immediate veterinary care. However, if you are not experiencing an emergency, it is advisable to make an appointment during their regular business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Street parking is unavailable without risking a parking ticket or potential towing. However, a parking lot is available for payment a few hundred feet east of the ASPCA, and meter parking is available one block north.
Negative experience: My dog cant walk she walks side ways and i called to make an appointment and they denied to help her and recommended me to expensive hospitals which i cant afford , meanwhile from the reviews i seee peoples dog with worse issues got help , now my dog is here suffering i dont know what else to do
Fantastic experience: My puppy had parvo she was throwing up for three days. when I got in contact with the aspca they told me about a hospital to take her to that they work with. It was Sunday so they were closed. I’m on a fixed income so they were about to get me a grant, thank god because my puppy is home now eating, and living her best life. Thank you guys so much for everything
Fantastic experience: This is a special place for pet Care they realy take care of you and your pet from security to receptionist to the doctors these lady's work miracles you must call for an appointment at 8am do it get in get these pets Care from putting them down to getting there health better at no cost
Fantastic experience: Thank you to the Doctors and doctor assistances... But the security guard and girl at the front desk are the worst... bad attitudes... they both left me waiting outside with my cat in 28 degree weather.... I got there at 6:51...they left my freezing outside cause they open at 7.. there are seats in the lobby that I could of sat on while waiting for 7am.... January 17, 2025
Fantastic experience: ASPCA in New York is an incredibly helpful place for those with a limited income who need quality care for their pets. Owning a pet is expensive, and if, like us, you’ve rescued four cats from the streets, each requiring medical attention, ASPCA becomes a true lifesaver. For a relatively small fee, you receive top-notch service and the professionalism of their veterinarians. They not only treat the animals with care but also take the time to explain everything to the owners, ensuring the best possible care. The only downside is the difficulty in getting an appointment. You need to call exactly at 8:00 AM, and if you’re even a minute late, all the appointments might already be booked. We’ve visited this hospital twice, and each time, we were very satisfied with the care our pets received. Huge thanks to the ASPCA team for their dedication to the well-being of our furry friends! We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for professional care at an affordable price.
Fantastic experience: This place was absolutely amazing. If I could leave 10 stars, I would. First off, to get an appointment was extremely difficult. You have to call 8am on the dot. The wait time over the phone was very long but I promise it is worth it, especially if your pet has an emergency like mine had. I eventually was able to get a same day appointment and when I arrived, my dog and I had to wait for about an hour before being seen. Once seen, he was immediately taken care of. He had a bowl obstruction and was required to have surgery the next day. Doctors and staff were constantly keeping me up to date. If I had any questions, they had no issues answering. Whoever does come here or plan to call for their appointment, keep in mind that this place is more for emergencies than anything else. Other pet owners will be there waiting as well, most likely for follow ups or emergency related issues, so don’t be surprised if there is a bit of a wait when you get there. But like I said before, the wait is worth it. Overall, my dog was admitted on a Friday and I got him back on Monday. With the IV fluids, his surgery and overnight stays, everything came out to $250. (I believe prices vary from people but that was my price) I am absolutely grateful for this place and amazing staff. They saved my baby and his recovery is going great so far Hope this review helps.
Positive experience: I love the services they provide here, I really do, but the phone line system is so confusing. How do I call 3 times at 8, 8:02, and 8:05 and it says the lines are closed, then I call again at 8:12 and they say all appointments are filled. Smh. This is kind of frustrating, especially since we’ve been here already and was told to make another appt if the issue persists.
Fantastic experience: Went here to have my senior dog euthanized on 11/30. TLDR amazing experience, kind and patient staff, affordable. was extremely impressed. when we arrived we had to check in with security and then took the elevator to the clinic. staff was super friendly and placed us in a private room with our little man. there was relaxing music playing, treats, tissues, blankets, a couch, a sign with his name on it. the vet was so kind and thorough with explaining things and letting us know exactly how the process would work. they gave us as much time as we needed and let us say our goodbyes as we wished. the environment was extremely clean, quiet, and calming. they told us that they took his paw prints and nose print and will be sending that in the mail as well. i also requested a digital copy through a form they emailed me. we were able to afford his ashes for $125 and they arrived today with a nice customized card with his ashes inside a floral carved wooden box. we were emailed a USPS tracking number which made the waiting less stressful. We are forever grateful for ASPCA and the staff here for making this painful experience for us a little softer.
Fantastic experience: I willll NOT STAND FOR THE BAD REVIEWS ON THIS PLACE, I don't understand the anger when they tell you guys they only treat emergency situations meaning if your dog is dying or animal is dying not eating loss significant weight Not drinking water( With the combination of everything else) or hit by a car got into a very bad dog fight etc If your emergency doesn't fall in the same category as the ones that I've listed go call your vet and stop taking the placements of the people that do have these types of emergencies for their pet. This place goes above and beyond for the animals in dire need. Yes it is limited, yes you may have to call a 1000 times but keep in mind it's like that Because of the donations that they get They are able to help you because of the donations that they get!!!!(2x) This place has good staff Good veterinarians who care no matter the animal and they will save your animal's life 90% of the time. So please By all means if you have an Emergency call them But if not and it doesn't fall in the emergency category you need to contact your regular veterinarian. Aspca SAVED ALL 3 OF MY PETS AT DIFFERENT TIMES OUT OF THE WHOLE 13 YEARS I HAD THEM!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEEE THEM. And another thing if they saved you your pets life make sure you leave them a very good donation reasonable donation if you got it!!!! They use to see way more than 25 Animals a day the more ppl leave the more they will be able to help.
Fantastic experience: My dog max had a dislocated hip, He had a ear infection as well and I thank these doctor who made this miracle happen Dr Gayle,Dr Lynette k cole the others doctor and teamwork. They manage to do surgery for his dislocated hip, otitis external ear they clean his ears gave me medication and neuter him as a result, we get to find out he had a tumor which others vet I have been too never figured it out. I'm very thankful for all you have done for max.He is only 16 years old and strong. God bless you all ❤️.
Negative experience: I called and there was no more slots for my dog to enter out of all the great things i hear from them the only thing i want is for my dog to get special help from ASPCA. And for them to hang up and tell me there is nomore space for my dog broke my heart
Positive experience: Least to say, this place is the hardest place to ever get an appointment but once you do, the service is very nice. They take very good care of your pet. They keep you updated throughout everything and they always try to help you find the best option. pricing is very affordable.
Negative experience: The ASPCA used to provide veterinary services for the community now they don't do anything! I call that phone number for my sick cat and they tell me they don't treat emergencies and that I should take my cat to an emergency room. When I call for my cat only treat with a non-emergency issue, they say they only treat emergencies. No matter what the issue is, they won't treat my pet. The ASPCA only spends 40% of the money donated to them from those heart-tugging commercials! They are a scam! I am done with them.
Negative experience: I have been calling for an appointment for the last two weeks, every day starting 8am only listen to a lengthly robotic voice message and after pressing #1 and #2 you get a robotic message saying there are no appointments available and to google low veterinary clinic near me. What has happened to the ASPCA today!?! I have also left voice messages with numbers of people that previously helped me but no call backs. No answer from anyone, no help! WHY?
Negative experience: It is very unpleasant and bad. I sent a healthy one-year-old kitten to be neutered. It died on the third day. I kept calling on Friday and was told to wait for a reply. On Monday, they replied with some irrelevant answers. They said they wanted to do an autopsy on the cat for some reason. I really want to ask how can you keep a cat for so many days and so long if there are children and elderly people in your family who are very afraid of the death of the cat.
Negative experience: They turned my dying critical condition kitten away because they refused to pick up the phone to let me schedule an appointment. We rushed him in and they turned him away..
Negative experience: I’ve had a really good experience the first time around where my other cat was sick but this time around i’ve been calling for my other cat whose been sick for the past three weeks and i have been getting nothing but an automated message for an appointment. please, my cat has two giant lumps in his abdomen and he needs helps. he looks sunken in..and lost all appetite doesn’t want to eat nothing but water he has been drinking. sleeping all day barely wants to be active. How can i get an appointment?! i’ve been calling right at 8am.
Negative experience: I’m extremely disappointed with the ASPCA’s appointment process. It seems nearly impossible to secure an appointment unless your pet is on the brink of death. Every time I call, I’m put on hold and bombarded with endless questions, which drags out the process so long that by the time they’re done, the appointments are gone. This has happened to me multiple times, and each time, I’m told to call back the next day and go through the same frustrating experience all over again. It’s a frustrating and inefficient system that needs serious improvement.
Negative experience: If I can give this place a zero stars I would, first the young lady with the braids and half shaved head is rude. I tried to get appointment for my pet who very much sick and breathing good not good, hasn't used the bathroom all night they had on hold to the point that all the appointments were taken up. by asking all the question they kept asking thorough the customer rep. then they tell me all the appointments are gone, but they kept putting me on hold and asking a million in one questions for almost 30 mins, so I guess I can't get an appointment after all that time. then I asked them if they at least put me in for tomorrow that told me to call tomorrow and go through this again for them to turn me away. also I'm low income very low in come they try to give a list to another vet that may cost $$$$$$$$$$$$. they need a better system and this way of doing things sucks. and people like me who low income who can't afford Reg Vet care what do we suppose to do and they also took away the low cost VetTruck In Manhattan but they have in Clinton Hills in Brooklyn where the people over are not low in come. And if you were to try to go in the area they also turn you away as well because you don't live in that borough or zip code. so the hell you suppose to go ASPC. Thank ASPCA
Negative experience: There's no way for a Manhattan resident to secure a spay/neuter appointment with the ASPCA. How does this not for profit organization rake in so much money yet their community outreach is non-existent.. And they will turn away owners holding dying animals because "they are by appointment only". The HSNY is the only clinic that consistently does any good for the residents/pets, rescue cats and pitbulls of NYC. I just had to get that out because over the past 4 years I have tried on numerous occasions to get appointments for my pets. Whether it be via the actual clinic or the mobile clinic at the ASPCA. I've never had any luck. They will allow you to drop off deceased pets. As they allowed me to drop off my dog and arrange for her ashes after she passed. That was nice. What wasn't so nice was that the last few yrs of her life she was blind because a couple years before I had bought her to the ASPCA for a dental. She could see when i dropped her at the clinic yet she was blind when I got her back. I called them to ask them what happened and never got a response. I dropped it because I was so upset there was no point in pushing. At the time I focused on her care, now not only was my dog disabled due to a congenital issue with her legs making her unable to walk but she was also blind thanks to the unfortunate procedure done at this place. Proceed with caution and ask lots of questions IF YOU ever get an appointment at the "A". Good luck
Negative experience: I don’t even know why they are still advertised as “open”. I’ve called multiple times no one answers it is just as automated loop. I went to the clinic and was turned away, wasn’t even able to make an appointment. If I was able to give zero stars I would.
Fantastic experience: This hospital is amazing! The staff and the Veterinarians are very professional and attentive. I am very grateful with the care they gave my cat Cookie.
Negative experience: Worst place to take your pet to. If I could give it 0 I would My cat had an emergency they turned me down and gave me a paper with a number that also didn’t work. Save your time, money and energy. Don’t go here if your pet is in urgent need they will turn them away and not care.
Fantastic experience: We appreciate you thank you for helping my furry baby and giving us the opportunity to take care of a difficult situation and make it easier for us. Thanks for being compassionate.
Fantastic experience: Went there today to euthanize our cat (15yrs old) and everyone was so nice. They let us go in a private room played soft music, even gave him some final treats. Thank you for making a difficult time much easier to bare.
Fantastic experience: They are so friendly here and help with everything I love how clean they keep the hospital I feel that they are much friendlier and nicer than any human hospital I ever been to they safe my cats life for and affordable price and after he went home they call to check up on him they are amazing
Fantastic experience: The ladies were amazing and very helpful. I had an emergency and needed to bring my cat on a plane within 24 hours and they were able to see my cat last minute. Thank you very much.
Fantastic experience: Although I was there to put my dog of 17 1/2 years to sleep, and my sisters cat the staff at ASPCA Animal Hospital were sweet, thoughtful, patient as well as supportive to me and my family! I’m still recovering from the loss of my first Dig, but they made the process bearable. Thank you all
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately I had an emergency with my Bella on a Friday night early March. she was very sick and seemed to be on the verge of death. I had just used my all my money to pay off all my bills, get ahead in rent, stock up etc I didn't have $500 for an emergency vet visit plus all the extra hundreds $$$ in everything else...if I had it I would've but I physically didn't have it. So I bought everything I could think of. Canine aspirin and salmon filet, ground beef and chicken breast to get her to eat. Pedialyte, broth, peanut butter, Health bars. I set up like 5 bowls of different foods 2 bowls of pedialyte, 3 water, 1 goat milk. She ate less and less. Drank none and became lethargic... I prayed and waited for Monday and called ASPCA every minute for 2hours until the phones came on. I wanted to be 1st in que regardless of what time it said they accepted calls. I got through..I got an appointment same day. I arrived here and the level of care both Bella and I have received here has been beyond amazing. I can't express enough how much they have touched my heart. I live alone it's just Bella and I, I've also only been a dog owner for a year. I've googled all the best foods and buy her vitamins and clothes for the weather because she's a short haired Queen and I felt so helpless. There's nothing worse than loving something so much and feeling like you can't afford and don't know how to save them. From the security guards downstairs, to the receptionist, to the handlers and volunteers, even the check-out person everyone displayed an extra level of care, concern and service. However, Our Vet, Dr. Lutz-Boulting, along with her supervision has gon ABOVE and BEYOND. As I'm sitting in this veterinarian hospital full with animals and feeling defeated a complete wreck...She looked me in the eyes and said "were going to do everything we can to save her" and it was sincere. In that moment I never felt more human. She has called repeatedly, kept me updated and informed on what to do and even though we have a long road to 100% and we don't know what can happen, though Bella seems to be doing better.... I will always feel blessed in knowing these were the people we came to to try and get the best results. Thank you so much and I understand everyone's experience and expectations are different but they truly have been a godsend. *For educational purposes I think it’s important to note Bella Contracted Leptospirosis which is on the rise in NYC especially in warmer months and not part of the core vaccines ask your vet for the leptospirosis vaccine*
Fantastic experience: Staff was incredibly empathetic to a tragic situation I’m facing regarding my cats that I fostered and adopted through them. Very patient and encouraging I’m so grateful to ASPCA
Fantastic experience: It is VERY hard to get an appointment unless you call right when they open at 8am. We were able to & after a scheduled check up & blood work done, had a dental surgery set for my Chihuahua. They did a great job & Dr Relman personally called & kept us up to date with the procedure before & after as well as the after care. Staff was very friendly as well.
Fantastic experience: It's heaven for pets, after an appointment my dog had to go under emergency surgery, really attentive and nice people working there, I mean EVERYONE was so nice. My dog recovered so fast and all her pills and surgery came out for free, I'll definitely be donating as soon as I can, great to have this in the community.
Fantastic experience: The staff here have been so helpful. Our dog Sampson was injured and as part of the NYPD investigation they asked that we have him examined at the ASPCA hospital. They examined him, took his X-rays, and changed his bandages for free and were always very kind and gentle with him.
Fantastic experience: We were lucky enough to get an appointment, and everyone working there was so great, and they took care of our cat. Thank you ASPCA!
Fantastic experience: Made an appointment for my cat that hadn't urinated. As soon as I walked him, someone was called immediately to evaluate him. Our veterinarian was very pleasant, informative, and clear on what the diagnosis was. I left feeling that my cat was given good and professional care. My only complaint was that when I arrived the day before, we were denied. Granted, I didn't have an appointment, but I think that my boy should have been evaluated first, before being turned away. His condition could have been more severe than it was. Although I understand the restrictions of needing an appointment, I also know that sometimes emergencies happen and waiting isn't an option. Overall, I appreciate the care that was given. Absolutely no complaints there. In total gratitude for the vets.
Fantastic experience: This Place is Amazing They took great care of my Baby Max. He's a Stitzu. He had a hernia and he is recovering well. I will never go anywhere else. Dr.Whitehead is so Amazing.❤️
Fantastic experience: Last Saturday November 25 we put our 14-year-old Nero to sleep at this location and the staff was beyond caring, loving, understanding, patient and sympathetic. They gave us all the time we needed before and after we put him to sleep. Letting me hold him while they put him to sleep meant everything to me. We received his paw prints from this location Thursday November 30 and his ashes via a third party Friday December 1. I highly recommend this location. Everyone from the security to the receptionist to the nurse to the vet were awesome.
Fantastic experience: Very humane way understanding my situation and been amazing with my Sandy God bless them
Fantastic experience: At the 92nd St ASPCA here in Manhattan the deli I frequent had gotten their cat there and it's friendly and quite the personality. SO once my wife and I were ready to adopt we knew where we were going to go. The first time we went we had no expectations ( the 3 of us had to all have that instant connection) We were shown a bunch of FANTASTIC choices and then I wandered away from the guide and my wife and saw a 7 month old Tuxedo cat that had its front right leg amputated. I stuck my hand in and he just put his hand in my palm as if to say I been thru alot take me home. I was sold - so I had my wife come over and she picked him up and it was over ! He still had stitches in but they let us adopt him. I have had cats most my life and he is probably the smartest one! We potty trained him to use the toilet ( took 3 weeks ). He runs, jumps and plays and LOVES when I chase him. So I'm sure all ASPCA's are good but I can speak of this being the best of the best !!
Positive experience: The ASPCA has always been good about taking care of my animals. Pre covid things were a bit more accessible and now it is difficult to get an appointment. It's been over a month I have been calling every morning at 8 and no luck. We had an emergency last week and couldn't get an appointment then either. If you DO get an appointment the service is really good. One complaint I had was the suggestion that one of my cats be put down when there was nothing physically wrong with him. But that was one person over years of using them.
Fantastic experience: came here from another vet and im upset i didnt come here sooner! they helped me and my mom's baby by giving him IV fluids, catheter, medicine, overnight stay and food for overnight stay all for just $125!! it was a miracle. the staff was so helpful and heartwarming and they had our cat's best interest in mind rather than money. PLEASE, if your pet has a medical problem that is urgent SEND THEM HERE. you'll only be paying less than half of a regular visit. we had our baby at another vet that charged $3,000+ for catheter and IV (no overnight stay(which would've been an extra 300)) plus a 125$ for intake fee due to it being a urgent medical emergency. but the ASPCA offered no charge for emergency intake and gave us wayyy more things for $125 ❤️❤️ UPDATE: our baby is healthy! they even sent us home with food and medication all for free!
Fantastic experience: U am So thankful for The ASPCA. I was very overwhelmed . When I bought my cat to their Hospital. They were such a Wonderful Staff. Clean & very Understanding. I am Glad they have this place. Affordable and Hard working.they really care about the FUR Babies.
Fantastic experience: The facility was clean and welcoming. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The best veterinarian experience I have had in NYC. They did not try to up sell a ton of unnecessary tests and treatments like other vet's in nyc.
Fantastic experience: My sister and I were going to have one of her cats put to sleep here, but sadly she died before we could get there. The staff were respectful and sympathetic when we went to deliver the remains for cremation. They made a dark day bearable and I would strongly recommend them to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Our little maltese developed a terrible cough. We got a next day appointment at ASPCA. Vet was very kind. After through exam prescribed meds for Chance. Charge minimum. Great place to take your sick animals
Fantastic experience: I've visited animal hospitals and paid more than I can afford. But the ASPCA helped with the fees for surgery and treatment. My cat is much better and almost passed away. The expert service has brought my family member back to health. I thank them and will always use them.
Fantastic experience: I had to put my dog down a couple weeks ago and they were there to do the best they could to save her. A couple weeks later her sister also got sick and they saved her with emergency surgery I will always be eternally grateful.
Fantastic experience: My cat Lucky was very sick. With a broken heart, I called ASPCA for their euthanasia service. The ASPCA team was compassionate. Lucky was treated with respect and dignity. I was grateful to able to say goodbye and be there with my baby girl until the last. Thank you ASPCA.
Fantastic experience: Fell from second floor window iggy we love us some u
Fantastic experience: I want to Thank the ASPCA for saving my dogs life… She had Pyometra and is recovery beautifully.. The doctors the staff they all awesome… If you want a appointment you have to call at 7:59am to be able to talk to a representative and get information for your pets care…
Negative experience: A pet in need is not in need of being discriminated against based on whether it might not be an assistance to recovery. To us, this facility was a time waste and huge disappointment. Thankfully, we got to another facility that demonstrated a better attitude and effort.
Fantastic experience: I am grateful to the doctors, technicians and staff of the ASPCA Animal Hospital. My senior dog was showing signs of distress. I called late am and patiently waited to speak with someone who accessed my situation and gave me a time to bring my fur baby in. We hiked it over and seen right away. The hospital itself is beautiful. The facility is super clean and properly secured with guards at the entrance as well as hospital floor. The doctors spoke clearly and slowly in order to process the results of their examinations. My own doctors do not contain the same empathy as the veterinary team at this ASPCA location. I felt safe leaving my PupPup in their care and highly recommend their services to local pet owners.
Negative experience: My dog just passed away and couldn't get an appointment there to see him for weeks. I don't blame them for my dog being sick but you can never get an appointment to have your dog seen. Must have called every day for two weeks in a row and no appointment. ASPCA, if your problem is no workers, then you should pay them better. I'll never donate another dollar to them. Ever!
Positive experience: Nine and Star are so very grateful for there work and service. ESPECIALLY MY FAMILY.
