Fantastic experience: I was SO nervous as it was my first vet visit and I’m a 1st time puppy owner. Everyone was sooooo nice and helpful, even when my pup’s bladder lost it on their floor. The doctor was knowledgeable and to the point while still very comforting and helpful which put me at ease.

Fantastic experience: I brought my dog in while she was sick and I cannot say enough good things about Inwood Animal Clinic. The entire team was attentive, calm, and genuinely caring from the moment we walked in. They took the time to listen, explained everything clearly, and made sure we felt supported throughout the visit. You can tell they truly care about the animals they treat. My dog was handled gently and thoughtfully, and we never felt rushed. It’s stressful when your pet isn’t feeling well, but they made the experience reassuring and professional.

Negative experience: Horrible service! No one is ever on the same page. They tend to confuse lab results from our pets. That’s a safety concern. Things happening once or twice is a bit understandable but not excusable. However, happening often is unacceptable! I had issues with them years ago due to negligence and I have a few friends that finally made the decision to find another vet because of all the issues. It’s all about money and squeezing people dry not what’s best for our pets. My dog almost died because of them. SMH. ‍♀️

Negative experience: Misleading Walk-In Policy — Don’t Waste Your Time I chose Inwood Animal Clinic specifically because their website advertises walk-in availability. That claim is flat-out misleading. Every single time I’ve been here, there has never been actual walk-in availability. I’ve come in with an appointment and watched other walk-in clients turned away. I’ve also walked in myself—most recently today—and again, was told they couldn’t see my pet. This isn’t a one-off. It’s a pattern. Here’s the problem: “Walk-in availability” has a clear, practical meaning. It means there are designated slots reserved for sick patients—slots that are not swallowed up by scheduled appointments. Sick pets, like sick people, often cannot wait days or weeks. If you don’t have protected capacity for that, then you do not offer walk-in care. Full stop. Advertising walk-ins while consistently turning people away is misleading and wastes clients’ time—especially when they’re dealing with anxious, uncomfortable, or ill animals. Because of this repeated experience, I won’t be returning. And if you’re choosing a clinic specifically for walk-in access, I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Transparency matters. So does honoring what you promise.

Fantastic experience: REALLY grateful for Inwood Animal Clinic. They are open 7 days a week, have an online booking system, and don't penalize for cancellations, which has made such a difference in making sure our sick little kitty gets the care he needs. Not to mention, we have always felt like they genuinely care- they're friendly, follow up after the appointment, are reachable by email/phone, always try to help get us seen, etc. It's no frills and can be really hectic at peak times but we have received great care and their prices seem reasonable. Negative experience: DO NOT COME HERE, FIND ANOTHER VET. This place will string you along for senseless test without having a clue to whats going on with your family, every appointment is a different doctor that just ask for a different test. More than 1000$ spent on a simple UTI because they can't agree between 4 doctors. Stay away.

Negative experience: If you have a cat or value your time avoid this place. They overbook, the waiting room is packed and it’s not welcoming. Sitting around for almost an hour with an already stressed out pet is not how I will be spending my time anymore. We’re moving our care elsewhere.

Positive experience: Regular waits of over a half hour. Their online appointment system is not reliable. You have to call to make an appointment. Otherwise you will be seen on a walk in basis. I once waited over 90 minutes after I went to the clinic only to be told I don't have an appointment even though I had confirmation emails that I did. The service is good.

Fantastic experience: The staff were amazing!!!!!!!!! They took amazing care of my cat Prince and made me feel super comfortable. This was my first time visiting but I will definitely make them my go to vet. They did blood work, and gave him all his shots. They worked quickly and I could not be more grateful.

Fantastic experience: My mom brought our cat here for years as he battled asthma and his old age. She always boosted about how amazing the staff were from reception to the techs to the doctors themselves. It was never too costly and getting an appointment was never a hassle. The staff always went above and beyond to give our cat a good quality of life from in-house treatment to meds to follow up; and there was always someone to interpret for my mom. That said, when the time came for our darling cat to cross the rainbow bridge, the staff went above and beyond there too. Unfortunately, he passed away at home but we were able to bring him in the very next day. We were given a private room to say goodbye, no matter how long it took, and given many options on next steps. We chose cremation and had a momento of him too. That day was hard but to see a card in the mail from this amazing place touched our hearts and picking up our boy didn't take long either. We were given the estimate of 2 weeks and he was ready 10 days later. The staff once again were kind in the process of giving us his remains. This was incredibly hard but the kindness, consideration, and empathy of the staff made this experience easier to process. Thank you all so much for what you did for our boy Greg ❤️

Fantastic experience: A friend referred me to Inwood Animal Clinic a few years ago, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the level of care and professionalism. From the doctors’ warm bedside manner to the kindness and efficiency of the front desk, pharmacy, and grooming teams, everyone is wonderful. My sweet baby Holly will be 18 years old in just a few weeks, and she is thriving. Her longtime doctor is no longer at the clinic, but she is now under the care of Dr. Tsung, who is simply amazing. Holly receives all her wellness care, grooming, and everything she needs right here. Their cost of care is affordable, and the team is incredibly helpful when it comes to guiding pet parents on how to get pet insurance to help us when there is a financial need allowing for continuity of care. My family and I are truly happy with the care Holly receives. After each visit, there is always a follow-up call from a staff to check on how she is doing, even after her grooming with Alina, who is fantastic and handles Holly with such gentleness. Even though Holly has been on the same medications for quite some time, the pharmacy team never allows me to leave without clearly explaining what the medications are for. I often smile out of pure respect and appreciation for their thoroughness. I am deeply grateful for this clinic and hope they continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of our beloved pets.

Fantastic experience: I have just started visiting Inwood Animal Clinic after years of schlepping it to our old vet on the Upper West Side. We have two finicky cats that not many teams can handle. So far, my experience with this clinic has been very positive. The prices are better and the expertise is on par, if not above what we had been receiving elsewhere. Their staff is also incredibly compassionate and kind. Dr. Greyson, in particular, is incredibly thorough and knowledgable. My only note are the wait times, which can be long, but given that this is the only vet in the neighborhood, it only makes sense that they're dealing with a lot of patients at once and get delayed. Looking forward to continuing my cat's care here!

Negative experience: called several times today, to ask for an appointment. You want to know what they did? They closed the phone on me. talk about 0 costumer service !!!! Do not take your pet to this vet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Negative experience: I had been bringing my dogs here, but after today I’m done with this place. One of my dogs bent his nail and was bleeding, so I called to ask if someone could see him. Instead of answering, they hung up on me three different times. That’s beyond disrespectful. I wasn’t rude — I just wanted to know if he could be seen today so the nail wouldn’t get infected. No client deserves to be treated like that. I’m cutting ties with this veterinary office.

Negative experience: Do not bring your pet here. After multiple visits where we were rushed out, dismissed, and disrespected by the wildly unhelpful and uneducated staff, we will never be returning. We had been told that it was a terrible vet office by multiple people in our neighborhood, but tried to come here for two years anyway because it was close by. We should have listened to their advice and will tell all pet owners we know to stay away. The front desk workers know nothing about animals, have given us the wrong medications, and are rude and unhelpful. The vet techs have injured our dog and caused her to bleed multiple times. I’m not sure the vets are actually even vets. They have never given us any actual medical advice, causing us to have to return multiple times and keep shelling out hundreds of dollars while our dog continues to get sick. When we ask them for their medical advice and suggestions they pretty much say “do whatever you want,” get annoyed that we are asking questions, and don’t give any real advice or actually ever address the medical issue we are there for. I’ve never experienced such terrible service. If I could give negative stars, I would.

Fantastic experience: Excellent all-around experience. My case was that I took in a stray cat, so I brought him in for health evaluation and vaccinations. The front desk office is professional, focused, and attentive. They answer your questions sufficiently, and send you whatever documentation or records you need, instantly. If you are curious about pricing, they're transparent and give you an answer within a few minutes after looking into it. At worst, they'll need a couple days for a price estimate of how much neutering is. Which is reasonable. The vet who saw my cat was Dr. Goldschlager. He's fantastic. The perfect blend of calmness, jovialness, professionalism, and seriousness. He will answer every question you have, not trying to rush you. I think part of why my cat was so calm was because of the demeanor of the staff. Vaccines and exams were administered with zero stress or issues. Going back for the final round of booster shot was easy-peasy; no fear or apprehension from the cat as I took him there and into the office for the second time after the first round of shots a few weeks ago. Excellent experience and I'm very grateful. Thank you Inwood Animal Clinic.

Positive experience: The vets here are good, but the pharmacist will not return calls under any circumstances, and my last bottle of cat medicine had two labels on it, one that said “REFRIGERATE” and the other that said “DO NOT REFRIGERATE”. Always double check the prescription and instructions on the internet.

Fantastic experience: Both of my cats get treated at Inwood Animal Clinic and we love everything about it. The front desk, the assistants and the doctors are always very kind and patient. The doctors are very assertive, too and always open to listen to any concern and questions you may have. Very grateful to have such great service in The Heights!

Fantastic experience: Everyone is very knowledgeable and kind - they told me everything I need for my older cats! And I got seen 15 minutes early which was FAB!

Negative experience: I dropped my dog off at 9:00am on for his neutering appointment and was told it would take all day, with a call in the early afternoon for an update. By 3:00pm, I still hadn't heard anything so I called the clinic. My first two calls were met with a busy line, the next went unanswered, and I finally reached someone at 3:45 who said he would be ready for pick-up at 5:00pm. I arrived at 5:15 and stood at the desk for about 5 minutes. The receptionist looked up at me and then back down and continued working on her post it. I sat for another 15 minutes, assuming they knew who I was, before going back to the desk. The receptionist admitted she had seen me but thought I had already been helped. She started checking me out before I had even seen my dog or spoken to anyone about his surgery. The same receptionist then went over his medications. When I asked what each medication was for, she could not tell me and asked the neighboring receptionist who didn't know either. I then asked to speak to the vet. One dismissed me, saying she did not handle surgeries that day. The second vet came over, smiled, and said, “Your dog is fine.” I told her I needed detailed aftercare instructions as nobody had given me any and clarification on a medication I did not see listed. She agreed but instead sent someone else who read instructions directly from a paper, had to refer back for every question, and even brought me the wrong medication, tick prevention instead of the one I had asked about. They did not show me his incision before sending him home. Note, at no point during the drop off dod they discuss the upcoming procedure either. They simply walked him out to me. When I got to the car, I finally saw it and was shocked. He was returned with blood matted in his fur around the incision, no attempt made to clean him up, and sutures that looked rushed and uneven. The area was inflamed and messy, with hair stuck in the wound. He had a large thumb sized dark red bruise. While some swelling and redness can be normal after surgery, the lack of basic cleaning and care before sending him home was unacceptable and showed a complete lack of attention to detail. On top of that, the cone I paid $50 for did not fit and he could easily reach his incision. I had to order a proper one online immediately. And he did not receive the ear cleaning that was listed in the services. I paid over $1,000 for this experience consisting of terrible communication, being dismissed multiple times, no proper post-op guidance, wrong medication, a cone that was useless, and a surgery site that looked like an afterthought. This was an extremely stressful, frustrating, and disappointing experience from start to finish. To make matters worse, the next day at no point did anyone call to check on my dog’s recovery. At every other veterinary office I have been to, a follow-up call after surgery or simply care is standard. This place clearly does not care. I am extremely upset and would never recommend them to anyone who loves their pet.

Negative experience: For all I know, the doctors may be absolutely great - I never got to see one to find out. Arrived five minutes early to my appointment, then proceeded to wait for 50 minutes before I just left. No apologies from the staff. Ridiculously overcrowded and chaotic waiting area - clearly waaaaay overscheduled.

Fantastic experience: Hakuna (15 year old cat) is very well taken care of by all the staff. They treat him very well with kindness, sensitivity, warmth, and give lots of scritch scratchies in his favorite places. In return Hakuna turns on his purring machine to show his appreciation for the care given. I have had very positive experience at Inwood Animal Clinic with them being kind and getting appointments in for him ASAP as well doing post visit follow ups. The vets and vet techs are very nice as well, and are gentle when handling Hakuna.

Fantastic experience: Took great care of my cat for his dental procedure. Everything was explained in great detail.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough good things about Inwood Animal Clinic. Over the past few years, they have helped us navigate multiple lumps on our dog and supported us along the way. When we opted to remove two of the lumps they were so kind and helpful. We were able to schedule a surgery in two days. The day before the surgery the staff called us multiple times to check in with us. They helped us feel so confident and comfortable - and it was all at their behest. The day of the surgery the called multiple times to update me along the way. When I arrived to pick him up the doctors and staff we so kind and caring and helped me prepare to take care of him post-op. They also helped me carry him across the street and into a car. A note on the price - all in - two tumors removed, teeth cleaning, one tooth extraction, x rays, blood work, two biopsies, medication, it cost roughly 2,000. I felt like the care they showed is and the services provided went above and beyond that. Sometimes I leave the vet (other vets) feeling like I wasn’t confident in my decisions based on lack of clarity and price mongering clinics (example - one doc at a different place did a “chiropractic adjustment” that was $200 without asking), but it was further from the truth here. Every decision/suggestion felt purposeful and with the best interest of our dog at heart. Their kindness took it up and over the limit!

Positive experience: The grooming is beautiful, but they should be a bit more careful with cuts, it just happened once ! The staff is amazing—I truly appreciate how much they care about the dogs. You can tell they love what they do. They’re incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely passionate about their work.

Positive experience: I brought my senior cat, Bella, to this clinic during her final days, hoping to help her. She was extremely weak only 3.6 lbs. Dr. Tsung is a great doctor she had been taking care of Bella for years and the entire staff is very professional. They ran tests, gave fluids, and administered a vitamin injection standard procedures, but in hindsight it was too much for her fragile body. Despite knowing her thyroid issues, they followed protocol over compassion and it caused her needless pain. Unfortunately, that may have accelerated her passing. She needed gentleness, not more stress. I wish I had known that before taking her to the clinic, or that someone had told me to slow things down. This is not written in anger, but in grief. Bella wasn’t just a pet she was family. Please be mindful with elderly animals. Sometimes less is more including less protocol! In loving memory of Bella (2010–2025), 15 years of unconditional love.

Negative experience: I’ve been bringing my dog to Inwood Animal Clinic since she was 8 weeks old — she’s now 7. This is the only veterinary clinic she’s ever known, and she’s always felt safe and comfortable there. That’s what makes today’s experience so heartbreaking. My appointment was for 10:30 AM. I arrived early at 10:10, but I wasn’t seen until over an hour later. I later learned there were two emergency cases with other pets that needed immediate attention — which I completely understand. Emergencies happen, and they absolutely take priority. I just wish someone had communicated the delay instead of leaving me in the dark while I sat and waited. I also had a grooming appointment for my dog and was told to call back in 2–3 hours. When I called at the two-hour mark to check in, the receptionist abruptly hung up on me when I asked her name. When I called back again, I was placed on hold for over 10 minutes. I asked to speak with a manager and was told no one was available. Out of frustration and concern, I drove all the way back — only to find that the manager, Ryan, WAS THERE. To his credit, he was kind and apologetic, and I truly appreciated how he handled things. But it didn’t erase the stress of the day. When I finally picked up my dog, I was told they removed the $15 nail filing fee as a courtesy. I don’t want to seem ungrateful — I recognize the gesture — but the overall experience was just deeply disappointing. After seven years of trusting this clinic with my dog, today left me feeling completely disheartened. I honestly don’t think I’ll be returning

Negative experience: Listen, I brought my dog here during 2020. Years ago. Since they have yet to remove me from their email list and it is a constant reminder. I am going to go ahead and share a little about my experience. The vet who saw my dog had a bedside manner as dry as dry wall. He told me if I didn't get my dog a surgery, he wasn't going to make it and I should consider euthanasia... He went on to explained how the surgery would give him the best quality of life. Keep in mind the cost was $7000-$8000 at that time and not a guarantee he would ever walk again. Please note this was not the reason I brought him in initially. My dog is a Dachshund... and had suffered a back injury previously (keep this in mind as you read). I brought him in because of his digit which needed to be stitched up due to nerve issue from his spine.... was exposed. Thank God I didn't listen to this advice. I researched nyc numbers and got an angel on the phone who connected me to a Vet Hospital in Queens and my lil Dog saw a surgeon who performed the digit Surgery and saved his life. My little guy Paul is still going strong retired in the great state of Florida. Always get a second opinion. Just because a dog is disabled does not mean they cannot live comfortably and happy. Please don't give up. Do your research there are great organizations that are willing to help even if you don't have the financial means... especially in NYC there is help! Go to Queens they care!

Negative experience: Wasted my time coming here. They try to charge you more than what was discussed over the phone. A DHPP booster vaccine and a wellness exam was said to be $120 over the phone and the clinic tried to charge me $220 in person. They do not offer competitive pricing either while other clinics do. The vets also try to influence you into purchasing and putting optional and “non-core” vaccines on your pets. They make these vaccines seem crucial and needed when they’re not.

Fantastic experience: I went to IAC already twice to obtain pet travel certificates and every time the service from Dr.Tsung was very professional and loving toward the pet. The other staff members are also super friendly and helpful, I love this clinic, Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Dr.Sung is the one the best veterinarians in this clinic. She is very thorough with her exams and explains everything with patience. The receptionist are always nice when you call to book an appointment. I have been going to this vet with my dog since i got her and she is now 15 years old. Grooming here can be a hit or miss but overall a great place to bring your pets.

Negative experience: I brought my dog here that had no pre existing health conditions and was told he’d need a simple procedure. I was told I’d be called and given a time to pick him up. The vet never called me. I called after 2 hours and was put on hold then someone came and said he passed away during the procedure. When I arrived struck with grief multiple employees expressed sincere regret over what happened and/or extreme visible guilt. Some even just walked out the room when they saw me. I spent some time in the room after he passed and was met with a lot of sympathies/condolences. Upon exiting the vet, I was offered an entire refund even though I did not bring up money at all. Then I kept calling the vet to hear firsthand what happened and I kept getting no answer. Then when I finally got an answer from them nothing was adding up. The time of death didn’t even match up to when I called. No amount of words or money will return my dog back to me. I post this to warn everyone considering bringing their pet here!! Please take this seriously and exercise caution.

Fantastic experience: The staff at animal Inwood clinic are extremely welcoming and helpful. I started taking my dog there one year ago and I’m glad I made the switch to this vet you can tell their staff actually loves animals and treat them with love and care. My dog had an extreme make over got her best hair cut ever with their groomers I’m a satisfied customer highly recommend taking your pets there!!

Negative experience: This was my first time at Inwood Animal Clinic. The first visit with Dr. Shimel went amazing! He was very professional and understanding of our situation. He gave us good information regarding my pet. Everything went well for the first visit HOWEVER it wasn’t the same for a follow up visit. Poor communication from the staff at the front desk which led to misunderstanding of payments. I originally left due to no one informing me that there was a payment. The tech handed me my pet (the visit did not take more than 5 minutes) and I had to ask her myself if that was all and she said yes. I even stood by the waiting area for a couple of minutes but no one helped me. I took it as a sign that I was good to go. A few moments later, I received a call from the clinic asking me if I left which I replied with yes and they thought I decided to leave without paying. Keep in mind, I paid in FULL for my first visit which everyone knows, it can cost hundreds of dollars. The receptionist (don’t know who I spoke to) told me I had two weeks to pay which we had came to an agreement. The next day, I received a call from another receptionist (AGAIN don’t know her name) she was very unprofessional. She asked me when I was making the payment and I explained that I had come to an agreement with the previous person I spoke to. She kept asking me what day I will come and I told her I live far and couldn’t give her an exact day, but that I am coming in to make MY payment. They gave the option to pay over the phone but I did not feel comfortable giving my card information. Yet, they still kept insisting for me to pay over the phone. A week later and I receive another call from the second receptionist, once again UNPROFESSIONAL. She lied about what we had previously talked about AND threatened me with turning it over into collections. I don’t think that was necessary. I paid hundreds of dollars for the first visit, why do you think I won’t pay you $74??? Point is, the communication was not there. Unprofessional front desk staff. You told me I had two weeks to pay which I kept telling you I am going to come and pay you those $74. First visit was great but that second experience ruined it all.

Negative experience: We have been going to Inwood Animal Clinic for about five years, and while it was always annoying to have to wait 30-60 minutes, despite a scheduled appointment, and to negotiate all the other animals in their very poorly laid out waiting room, we kept going because it was easy to get to and the technicians, receptionists, and nursing staff were always kind. However, our dog, who has had epilepsy for the past two years, has just come out of 5 days in the ICU due to uncontrollable long-term seizures, most likely brought on by the Librela injection she was prescribed for her arthritis by a vet at Inwood Animal Clinic. Turns out the potential adverse effects of Librela on dogs with underlying neurological issues has been available in the FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine's database since April 2024, and yet the vet at Inwood Animal Clinic prescribed it to a known epileptic seven months later. We are fortunate that our dog survived, though we still don't know what the long-term neurological impact of her extensive seizure activity will be. While Inwood Animal Clinic might be fine for standard veterinary care, if your pet has any kind of special needs, go elsewhere. The risk is too high.

Positive experience: They are pretty unorganized. I brought a pet for a pre-surgical consultation and they took the pets blood and urine and sent me on my way, with no advice on next steps or how to manage the situation or schedule the procedure. Not knowing what to do I just scheduled a visit to have the procedure done, which I made the mistake of doing online and accidentally booked for a day where they don’t have that service but nothing on the website indicates that. So we get there for the procedure and the vet didn’t even seem too sure how necessary it was at that point so he checked the last vets notes from the pre-surgical visit and that guy left NO NOTES at all. So then they just went ahead with the procedure anyway not having informed me that it only has a 50% success rate. I understand that the price is what it is, but I would’ve liked to have had more knowledge before putting my pet through all this for their condition only to persist afterward. Only would use this vet office because of the proximity.

Will definitely be our new home for our vet visits Teddy (Pomeranian ) is recovering from his neuter appointment healthy and thriving and Tokyo (Shiba inu) check up went well, Shibas can be hard to handle and they were lovely and patient with us. I have left vet visits confused and with so many questions and this is the one place I felt well informed and with clear explanations, thank you inwood family clinic!

Fantastic experience: I went to Inwood animal clinic with my hostile (only at the vet) geriatric cat, and I’ve had the best experience here out of all the animal clinics I visited in the Bronx! The staff was incredibly nice and professional, and they weren’t afraid of her no matter how much she kicked, tried to scratch and hissed. But most importantly, they didn’t try to pressure me into sedating her, and they STILL were able to do their job and at a good price. I wish I found this place sooner, but I will be taking her here for the rest of her life!
