Experiencia negativa: I brought my cat in very concerned about her constantly being in the litter box. They ordered a urinary analysis which was $220 and couldn’t get the sample from her Wednesday morning. They asked me to bring her back in Friday morning and when I brought her in she was going to also have her rabies vaccine up to date. They told me that would be 68$. So I prepared to have the $68 on Friday for her follow up visit since they couldn’t get the urine sample from her on Wednesday. When I picked her up Friday afternoon, they told me my total was $108 because they had to do another exam on her before giving her her rabies shot? She was just seen 2 days prior. They should’ve told me that I would have to pay another $40 for another exam where they just check her belly and teeth. I felt ripped off and I probably won’t come back due to the lack of communication. It was already hard enough for me to get the $400 (first exam, urinary analysis, gabapentin script & rabies vaccine) together.

He great with our animals and will take the time to explain and talk through the appointment. There was also an awesome tech that we worked with during our last visit don't remember her name. We love her too! Our appt was Friday 1/6. After a terrible experience we had last year we wasn't gonna come back to the hospital, but when we learned of Dr Cantors return, that all changed. The receptionist are also good too, especially Tyler and Shelia. We thank you all for everything!

Everything was explained thoroughly and they followed up with a weight management plan after I asked about suggested diet, which I really appreciate!

They called me immediately that morning and were able to squeeze us in so I could bypass the urgent care fee - huge win already. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed so warmly by the front desk team. They even had my previous pet on record and offered sincere condolences for his passing, which truly meant a lot. My pup is not a fan of the vet, but the vet tech who checked us in was an absolute angel - cheese, peanut butter, patience, and kindness. My 100-lb dog started out hiding behind me on the bench, and within two minutes he was licking her face and wagging his tail. Dr. Jared came in calm, warm, and incredibly respectful. He eased into the exam, moved slowly, and was clearly focused on making sure my dog felt safe and not frightened. You could tell how much he genuinely cares. Clean facility, minimal wait time, and an exceptionally kind and compassionate team - from start to finish. So grateful to have found our new vet. My husband and I brought our dog Cooper in last Wednesday and the experience was simply unbelievable from start to finish. This was our first time visiting the clinic, and we were already a bit stressed because Cooper needed quite a bit of work done. To make things more complicated, I scheduled our appointment online, but when we arrived, they realized I was actually confirmed for the following week. Even though the clinic was busy, they did not turn us away. This hospital took the time to fit us in and service us anyway, which was such a relief! The way Dr. Grace Snyder and the entire team at Washington Ave Hospital treated Cooper was truly wonderful. You can tell when staff genuinely cares about the animals they see. To top it all off, they even called me the next day just to check in and see how Cooper was doing after his treatments. That kind of follow-up is so rare and meant the world to us. If you are looking for a vet that is professional, compassionate, and goes above and beyond, look no further. 10 out of 10!

Experiencia fantástica: My two cats are regular clients but one Saturday I had a concern about one of them and called the animal hospital. They advised bringing her in and scheduled an appointment that morning. The doctor and her assistant took their time with the cat and answered all of my questions. They were wonderful with the cat and me! The cat got the needed care and a couple days after treatment was fully recovering. I will continue to bring my cats to this animal hospital for the excellent care provided.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog Sophie was attacked by another dog with a pretty nasty head wound and other wounds around the area and when I walked in greeted by the friendly warm front desk staff they told me they have to check for availability since I was an emergency walk and and the nurse and doctor took my dog even when fully booked to make sure she received the emergency medical care. My dog is super anxious and not trusting but she loved their staffed and went with the no problem, they were so sweet and patient with me and my dog. They were so understanding and communication was amazing between them and I about my dogs care as well as pricing. I can’t thank this place enough and their outstanding staff. My dog is healing and recovering beautifully and even licked the one nurses face the whole time as a thank you. Here’s Sophie after the best care from this facility.

They comprehensively evaluated all aspects of his current physical condition and not only treated what we came in for, but gave lots of preventative at home care advice for potential future issues and updated him on vaccines. The vet and tech were happy to answer any questions I had. I trust and feel fully comfortable knowing my cat is in their care. The price was a tad more than I expected for a non emergency visit, but my boy was not up to date on his vaccines so that accounts for that. Regardless, their comprehensive treatment left me with peace of mind. Thank you WAAH

Experiencia negativa: If you care about your pet, find another vet. There is no accountability or continuity of care. I’ve been taking my cats to Washington Ave Animal Hospital for 4 years and we’ve consistently received incongruent and inconsistent diagnoses and treatment plans. I’ve been charged for tests that came back negative and I’m certain were never run. They’ve documented illnesses for my pets that were entirely fabricated. When I spoke to their Medical Director and pointed out the obvious discrepancies in their documentation, she took no responsibility and said that she wasn’t working there at the time, doesn’t know the doctor, and can’t speak to what went wrong. I spent $2k at their office on wellness exams last week. I was charged arbitrarily for unnecessary testing I didn’t authorize. I believe I was very reasonable in requesting a refund because I have considerable evidence supporting a fundamental mistrust in the quality of care. They refused.

Experiencia fantástica: We were dealing with a constipated kitty and were able to get her seen fairly quickly. The entire team was thoughtful, thorough, and compassionate. They reviewed treatment options with us including full transparency with cost breakdown. We've seen vast improvement and they've continued to follow-up to ensure she's doing okay. We really appreciate their care. Special note: they do also operate as an urgent care. They are transparent that there is a higher cost without an appointment. If their online scheduling appears full, give them a call to see if they can get you on the schedule. You'll save yourself a few $$. This is what we were able to do.

Experiencia negativa: Take your pet anywhere else. They said all my cat’s teeth need to be removed?! Took him to another vet where they prescribed antibiotics and none of his teeth didn’t needed to be removed. They also take your pet out of the room to do any sort of care. Over priced and try to upsell you on everything.

Experiencia fantástica: It was my first visit to this particular clinic. Parking is a little tough. The clinic is insanely clean. I followed Dr. Cantor here from another clinic because he tried so hard to help my dog in the past. His referral indirectly set her on track back to health. I'm back to primary care for her now. Dr. Cantor is an absolutely fantastic doctor, he wants to know what works for the fur kid and what doesn't and will listen to your suggestions and explain if he agrees or not, and you KNOW he actually cares and it's not just a paycheck. Staff is so sweet. I will make the drive here any time for this quality of care. 10/10

Went back for a vaccine, asked for the same doctor and were told she was not available, even though when booking the appointment we asked for that same doctor. Later we saw this doctor helping someone else. She explained this is also a drop off & hospital services, needless to say they are not well organized. Will look for other places.

Experiencia negativa: Recently switched vets due to a move - I signed up through their website which promoted free wellness visits for new patients and confirmed not once but twice I was a new patient at the visit. They did not offer to show me a reciept breakdown, but said they would email it to me. When I reviewed the recipet I was surprised to see I was charged for both wellness visits - when I asked for the charge to be removed they told me they would have their practice manager reach out to me. It has been about two weeks and I have not heard back. In addition to to the billing error and shady marketing I had to ask them to check both my cats ears which is normally standard practice in a wellness visit.

They were able to get me in on the day I called as my puppy was having some issues. Both the vet tech & vet were so kind & knowledgable & super helpful in explaining everything.

Experiencia negativa: Brought the cat I just adopted here who developed a rash on her head. The vet swabbed her ears and treated her for a bacterial infection. He did not think of causes for the rash itself. I took my cat for a second opinion and the vet at VCA immediately looked at it and suspected RINGWORM! How does a vet miss a ringworm diagnosis in a cat who was just brought home from the shelter? Such a waste of money. Wish I brought my cat for VCA first instead. Edit to add: I took her to VCA the following day and she had biopsy confirmed ringworm of the large patch and rash on her head. Given she was a recent rescue, ringworm should have 100% been on the differential diagnosis. Again, I’d recommend everyone go to VCA instead. VCA was also surprised at the misdiagnosis.

Dr. Cantor was great and was very helpful with answering questions I had regarding my cats issues, and the front desk staff were very helpful as well!! I received calls and tests back to questions I had and with ordering and filling prescriptions! This was our second time here and we will definitely be back :)

They are all so empathetic, knowledgeable and supportive. My dogs have had multiple surgeries performed. They know exactly how to handle pet parent anxiety and treat my pups so well. Prices are normal, they do not overcharge! Highly highly highly recommend.

They saved my cat Pumpkin’s leg when he got a bad wound after being discharged from VEG with diabetes (not VEG’s fault at all), and they are always so careful and kind when taking care of Pumpkin and helping me monitor his diabetes. Washington Ave Animal Hospital tested her and I had my answers before I left the office. I had a wonderful experience and I plan to make this my regular vet.

For example I had a non emergency with my pup and there were no appointments available until next week and it was imperative that I spoke to Dr. Cantor. They made sure I got to see him that day and squeezed me in. Don't get me started on Dr. Cantor and Kerri!! They are AMAZING!! My dog has severe anxiety and they both take thier time with him and comfort him in a way that goes beyond any expectations I could ever have! The advice they give is top notch! Experiencia fantástica: Literally the best- I take both of my dogs, who struggle with being a little spicy. One is fearful and one is A LOT of energy. Everyone on staff is absolutely outstanding. I used to live nearby, but I recent moved and now I’m a 20-minute Uber away. But it is still totally worth it to take dogs in a ride share to see them. Kat and Kevin are incredible, and the techs are 100/10. My tri-pod yorkipoo, Dusty, LOVES going to Washington Ave. He’s a ham and loves the attention. Vocally. Loudly. More importantly, with the help of cheese and peanut butter, Arlo has started to trust them too. I’ve only had Arlo for 8 months, and he had a rough start in life and is just starting to trust humans to be kind. **Needed to update, because I always leave so amazed with the experience. Big shout out to Alyssa for being so great with my nervous boy, Arlo. Arlo gets very uncomfortable around anyone he doesn’t know, and he gets protective of me and scared- all in one big emotion. Alyssa has been his tech twice now, and she had so much patience with him and gained his trust (again). I added a picture of our Uber home from our last visit at Washington Ave, he was a happy, chill boy. Alyssa also gifted him with a cheese-filled Kong for being so brave during his exam and visit. I will literally never use another vet.

They were very tentative and caring to us and our dog. My dog, who is usually very scared of vet, loved the staff. Infact, when it was time to leave he kept going back to the nurses as if he did not want to leave. Awesome facility

Annika was incredibly fearful of the vet and required several special accommodations just to get through a routine checkup. Not only was the staff incredibly competent in handling her, but they were also kind, compassionate, and were able to see Annika's charm despite her clear hatred of anyone in a lab coat. Although she's now passed, I still find myself thinking about how great the staff was with her, and how they made caring for a difficult dog so much easier.

The vets and support staff listen, they're respectful of my concerns, and most important, show great care and big love for my girl, Luna. They feel like family, and I don't say this lightly. If you would have asked me a few years ago if I would ever say this about Wash Ave, I would have told you you were crazy. I just didn't like going there. Today, I wouldn't take my girl Luna anywhere else. And to have them in the neighborhood feels incredibly fortunate. I recommend them completely, without reservation!

They literally helped save my cat’s life through extensive testing and referrals to specialists, all while trying their best to avoid massive bills for me. I can’t recommend them enough! Shoutout to Dr. Manneschmidt for being a truly wonderful vet :)

Experiencia positiva: Update: I was looking forward to updating this to a 5 star review after dropping off my other cat's stool sample this evening, because (despite IDEXX labs being awful, which I know WAAH can't control) Stephanie absolutely went above and beyond this week to rectify the 28 days vs 1 month issue and make sure my first cat had a urine sample taken this week. Thank you Stephanie. BUT. When I was at the initial visit with my second cat I asked whether or not I needed a collection kit for the stool sample like they gave me for the urine sample. I was told by the tech that no I do not need a collection kit for this sample, and to just bring it in in a baggie. So I did. Only to find out that I was never invoiced for the stool sample that we discussed at the appointment, and it will cost me another $95 just to get a different stool sample processed! I'm waiting for them to review the recording from my visit and get back to me, but I'm sadly not holding out hope. Original: They told me on 1/20 at an annual check up visit that I had a month to return my cat's urine sample before having to pay again. Great. Made a mental note at the visit so I don't miss it. Today I found out by chance (when I called for more special specimen litter cause the packet was tiny) that it's actually 28 days and not a month, so now my cat and I have both spent all day freaking out trying and failing to get a sample on time instead of WAAH extending a one time grace period for their miscommunication. And 3 days out of 28 vs 31 days does make a difference when I had COVID for two weeks, and I'm dealing with a known anxious cat to begin with. Disappointing start here, hoping I can add some stars in the future still though.

Experiencia fantástica: Let’s just say i live in south jersey, and I willingly travel 49 minutes to go to this location to see Dr. West. Recently I’ve brought my very anxious American bully there for his annual yearly examination. I’ve been to SEVERAL vet offices for my Kano, and the doctors always talked to my through a door, because of my dog’s “aggression” I did not have the same situation here. I had it explained to me that he’s not a bad dog, he’s just an anxious dog. I completely understood the muzzle concept just used as precaution because he’s a very anxious dog. Although every muzzle any vet office has given me to put on, has always kept his mouth completely shut. I was always uncomfortable with that because when he’s nervous he pants and he cannot pant not breath when he has the muzzle that keeps his mouth completely shut. I was given a basket muzzle so he could still keep his mouth open, which made me feel 100% comfortable. I’ve also brought my 11 puppies here for their shots. I couldn’t ask for a better team. From the minute I walk in there’s never a sit down for a few minutes. They take me right away. I do not feel that they are only concerned about money given the fact they do what’s necessary and appropriate & then talk about how much everything is going to be. I see a lot of reviews talking about money, money, and money. But I’m sorry in my opinion if you can’t afford certain things to keep your pet healthy, then you may want to reconsider having a pet because I’ve never once felt like their prices and how they talked about money was unreasonable. I will continue to bring both kano & jade to this location. Huge shout out to Dr West to continue going to above and beyond, and huge shout out to her Vet tech Dezirae for always giving me reassurance and comfort!

Also, I was able to get in and out for my most recent appointment very quickly, and my cat, Pundit, who had been vomiting, is doing great now! This is my go-to kitty Urgent Care.

Experiencia fantástica: Washington Avenue Animal Hospital delivered superb customer service to me for my dog. They were very informative about all they done for my dog and what to expect after his care. I reccommend them with high ratings to any dog owner whose animal is in need of care.

Experiencia positiva: Took my dog here for her post acct appointment a few years ago. They completely ignored her hip even though the paperwork stated possible arthritis, said she's much older than she actually is, and that she almost bit a tech. The tech thankfully was fine, she was so rude after though. It's literally the job you signed up for, I had no idea she would do that, and the times I had done her nails before she had no problem. Since she was at your clinic that changed. Even when she was at ACCT she allowed all over handling and inoculations. I don't know what you did different because my wife's dog was handled beautifully. Difference between day shift and evening I would wager. Oh btw the hip you ignored turned out to be an old fracture that developed severe arthritis in it. Good job using your listening skills and being conceited enough to completely disregard "possible arthritis" being written on paperwork. Infuriating doesn't cover it. I bet anything you will respond blaming me somehow.

Experiencia fantástica: Washington Ave Vet is the best! I took my newly adopted dog there and wasn’t sure what to expect of his behavior but they kept him calm, entertained, and took such great care of him. I feel so comfortable going back.

Experiencia negativa: Very poor experience with this practice. Their booking systems aren’t linked between online and over the phone, leading to discrepancies on my actual appointment date and delaying care for my pet. To add insult to injury the practice manager tried to extort another $75 deposit by withhold care for my dog. Luckily there are many other kind and higher rated vets nearby.

Experiencia fantástica: We met with Dr. Arielle Thomas to have a routine checkup for our two cats, Elly and Elsa, and also to discuss how to get Elsa to lose weight. We've had Elsa on a mixture of both wet and dry prescription weight management foods. Dr. Thomas was very professional and very perceptive. She came up with an insight that could well be helpful, bringing up that the calories might be the same between wet and dry but that the dry is higher in carbs than wet and therefore less effective ounce-for-ounce. Her background at U of Penn vet hospital would have been a good place to have gotten her training. We also liked the atmosphere at the hospital. It seemed very clean, well-organized, and helpful. It's also helpful that it is associated with a 24/7 emergency vet facility in the same building. We were impressed! Just had a second visit with just Elsa this time. This time she was seen by Dr Witt and, once again, we were very impressed by everyone involved. His diagnosis of her need for weight loss was terrific and we plan on pursuing it. Still thinking it's a great place! Another visit, this time with Elly showing signs of Upper Respiratory Infection. Given full checkup and prescribed antibiotics. That was on Tuesday. It's not Friday and she's doing great. We like the techs and doctors there a lot! Very friendly, understanding, and professional! And another visit two days later with our other cat, Elly. Showing mild symptoms of the same problem as Elsa. Held off treating with antibiotics to see if she does better than Elsa. And she has been, so good call! Great staff as always and good follow up. Thanks!

Experiencia fantástica: They did a great job with my dog Pj I came there after my dog started not feeling well and they tested him and he had parvo they did a wonderful job with his medication and giving him fluids via IV So he wouldn't get dehydrated and also 1 of the main medication that helped him get better was only available at that vet throughout the whole Philly trust me I called around lol one vial was 500$ but they did awesome and my dog is back to healthy we will be returning in a few weeks for his vaccines

Experiencia fantástica: Washington Ave Animal Hospital is consistently wonderful. This is my pup’s regular vet but I needed to bring her in for a stomach bug and they were able to get us in that same morning, saw us right on time, and we walked away with a medication that helped quickly. My dog is known to come by and visit even when she doesn’t have an appointment which always signals to me that she associates the place with good people (the treat jar probably doesn’t hurt either ). Experiencia fantástica: I enjoyed my experience. From the front desk accommodating me getting my pet seen when he was sick and greeting me at the door. To the helpful and friendly technicians. The doctors also were very patient with me during this stressful time and answered every question and gave me their full attention. I definately would recommend.

Experiencia positiva: I love the care, great Doctors! I completely trust them with the care of my fur babies. But, definitely expensive. In the past, my animals were always able to receive their shots and be neutered on the same day, with just one cost of 280. But my past Vet has passed away. Now, I’m paying for 3 separate appointments at 200.00 & 288.00 and now 285.00, that includes shots & neutering. .

Experiencia fantástica: We had a wonderful experience at Washington Ave. Animal Hospital. As first time cat parents, we had many questions for the veterinarian and tech who were both incredibly helpful and answered all our questions. They were also transparent about pricing and honest in their recommendations. Most importantly my boy loved them and felt safe and comfortable in the office. Highly recommend!

Experiencia negativa: Wow the pure rudeness of the receptionist.. this place was my regular vet for a few years and when I called to make an appointment for my sick cat I was told the price would double for the exam. This was not an emergency or urgent visit, just my cat seeming “off”. When I told her I didn’t understand she decided to explain it to me like I’m an idiot and compared it to going to the human doctor and “when you’re sick you pay double to get seen. That’s just how it is.” I had no idea what she was talking about?! Price gouging at its finest. Especially when they know they can prey on people at their most vulnerable when it comes to their animals. I noticed quite a few other reviews here mention the excessive fees. Needless to say this is No Longer my vet. I tried following up by calling and asking to speak to a manager but then was put on hold for over 10 minutes because I guess the receptionist didn’t wanna deal with it. I understand Stefanie is the manager here and I will be following up asap. People don’t deserve to be treated that way.

Experiencia positiva: The staff is very friendly. They seem to be pretty knowledgeable but the prices are insane. Everything is 40-50% more than other veterinarians charge. Little word of advice, be a little more fair with the pricing and you’ll get more business.
