Experiencia fantástica: This is one of the best Veterinarian that I have been to in a long time. I am very fortunate to find them. They are extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I am definitely going to keep them for a long time.
Experiencia negativa: Dismissive, liars and unprofessional. Brought my cat here about an issue with her tongue. She was not able to drink or eat properly. Tongue control was minimal. Karwacki says "it must be a new way she's drinking" in a very obviously dismissive way and hands me antibiotics and that's the first visit. Started giving her the meds and reacts badly, no appetite or thirst (even though she was already barley eating or drinking). I texted Karwacki and told her the situation and was told to stop the meds. Then she prescribed her steroids instead, they don't do anything either. Then she suggests a teeth cleaning as an excuse to see inside her mouth. This was a blatant lie they were just looking for an excuse to upsell me. I get the teeth cleaning anyway for my cat. They find that I was right the whole time, something wrong with her tongue and suggested a CT scan. After the cleaning they tell me they have a hard time waking up my cat from the anesthesia. RED FLAG. Bring her home, a day later now she is drooling even more then before and still not able to eat or drink. The cleaning was unnecessary and just added problems to the main concern. Went to another vet and they were able to tell right away there is an issue with her tongue, no teeth cleaning, no anesthesia, no two different drugs suggested. They just want your money here and nothing else.

Experiencia fantástica: my pup has recently been diagnosed with diabetes, which has not been an easy feat. Heart + Paw has been extremely helpful, understanding and flexible with appointments, conversations and management to help ease the stressors with this new diagnosis. We love everyone apart of the staff and greatly appreciate their expertise as well as empathy!
Experiencia negativa: The pricing is absolutely unreasonable and we were misled by the staff. We called in advance to find out approximately how much it was going to cost to have a check up and have my kitten vaccinated. A lot of “we’ll have to see” and when we pushed to know a number they said to expect up to 50$ per vaccine. What they didn’t mention is the flat rate of 100$ for the appointment itself and 14$ for the disposal of medical waste which is not included in the appointment fee. This could have been mentioned given that it is a flat rate and not a “we’ll have to see” situation. If we had known, we would not have booked at this price. I also went ahead and researched both treatments my kitten received and they were 20$ more (each) than other vets in the area. I feel absolutely robbed and misled. I would not recommend this experience to anyone.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been here with my pets and they have been wonderful. One got dental work and the vet guided me through possible outcomes and told me clearly when we could do more conservative treatment. I've never felt that I was being inappropriately charged or tilted towards things that weren't needed. They respond to questions and even helped me get treatment between visits for a chronic problem. Very glad I found this place and would send my friends' pets there.

Experiencia fantástica: Took my Dog to Heart +paw for a wellness exam today. Everyone was nice and pleasant. The Dr explained everything well and put me at ease with my concerns. Facility is clean and modern. Exam fee could be more reasonable however. $90 for an exam is a bit much. My Veterinarian in Los Angeles only charged a $50 exam fee.
Experiencia negativa: We brought our four-month-old kitten to Heart + Paws for a simple wellness exam. Before the visit, I specifically called to ask what we needed to bring, and they told us to bring a fecal sample. During the visit, we mentioned that we needed the exam results for our pet insurance. Weeks passed and we still received nothing. When we called to follow up, we were told that no fecal test was ever performed or charged. Then why were we instructed to bring the sample in the first place? Paying almost $100 for a visit where they just briefly touched the cat is honestly unbelievable. During the wellness exam, we were also told our kitten needed a booster vaccine. Because we couldn’t stay home to observe him that day, we were told it was totally fine to come back for the vaccine later — and that it would be the same price, just in and out with a technician (~$50). But when we scheduled the vaccine visit, we were suddenly charged a technician exam fee + a ridiculous “disposal fee”, totaling $100 for ONE vaccine. Absolutely unreasonable. And the front desk staff… extremely unfriendly. They never make eye contact, and asking about pricing gets you an eye-roll. No respect, no courtesy, and zero transparency. This place clearly does not care about your pet and does not care about customers. Between the inconsistent information, unclear pricing, and rude staff, we will never return. Save your time and go somewhere else.
Experiencia fantástica: I’m incredibly grateful to the phenomenal team at Callowhill and Dr. Karwacki at Heart + Paw for the care they gave my dog, Rivka. After her cancer diagnosis, they managed her palliative care thoughtfully and always centered her comfort and dignity. When it was time to say goodbye, they created a calm, compassionate space that allowed her to pass peacefully and without fear. Their kindness made an unbearable moment gentler, and I’ll always be thankful for how they cared for her and supported us through her final weeks.

Experiencia negativa: I like this place don’t get me wrong, but the pricing is insane and un-affordable. How is it that a neuter here is upwards of 600 dollars? I found a very nice vet north east that did the procedure and put in a micro chip for 100 dollars; and other places the most you’ll pay is 300. This vet is a scam. Or how about the fact that I made an appointment for my cat to be checked for ringworm, but realized it was just cuts on his nose from another cat. Call to cancel it that morning— A NINTY DOLLAR cancellation fee!!! What the hell is that! And you want me to put down a 250 dollar deposit for my car to get neutered. I am a college student with two jobs, tuition and bills to pay, and decided to save a cat off the street who was bleeding and hurt— I shouldn’t be expected to pay NINTY DOLLARS as a cancellation fee, because my cat DOESN’T have ringworm. NEVER GO HERE, there are such better options in the city, with employees with much more understanding, who ACTUALLY CARE about your pets. (Referring to the secretaries who all sound like they hate their jobs)
Experiencia fantástica: (Review from 2020 that didn't post; Last visit was on 10/25/2025 and I still love this place.) Today was our first visit to Heart + Paw-Callowhill. It was an absolute pleasure! The entire staff is super friendly, attentive, and welcoming! Even with the limitations set and not being allowed to be in the center during the visit (due to precautions regarding COVID-19), I never once felt anxious or uneasy about dropping our furbaby off. Our furbaby, Henna (8yr old Shihtzu) was very anxious when we arrived. They were all so caring and patient with her. The Veterinarian contacted me by phone to discuss Henna's care and services during the visit - which made the visit even easier. It was obvious that Henna was well cared for during her visit because she was much more at ease when we picked her up. Looking forward to our next visit. We've definitely found our Vet & Groomer furever home. ❤

Experiencia fantástica: I had been in the hospital for a month and was being discharged in two days - immune compromised so needed my pup to have a good cleaning and grooming. Called for an emergency grooming as a new client. Not only did they squeeze us in but they did a fabulous job on the grooming. Can’t wait to go back.
Experiencia negativa: Edited review- it was 5 stars. We’ve had a great experience with the veterinary team, especially Dr. Amber, and will continue coming here for vet care. However, I do not recommend the grooming services. This is the third grooming visit in a row where the “complimentary” teeth brushing and ear cleaning were not done, despite me specifically requesting them each time. Nails are trimmed, but ears and teeth are consistently skipped, and I only find out after following up myself. It’s frustrating to be told at his vet visit that he needs dental care while the groomers repeatedly ignore tooth brushing. We also had a previous groomer at this location who overcharged us and left our dog with cuts, leaving him uncomfortable for days. We switched groomers, and while the haircut was better, the teeth were still not brushed and once again we were led to believe all services were done. For the price, this level of inconsistency is unacceptable. The grooming quality has gone downhill, even as costs have gone up. Happy to pay for whatever he needs, but 175 bucks and you can’t trust they did what you requested? We can certainly find a more trustworthy groomer. Vet service: 5 Grooming and customer service:1
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Amber Karwacki and staff were amazing. Our mini bernadoodle was over due for an annual exam and some vaccines after a big move. She did not make us feel bad for being overdue! Now that we are finally settled in the Philly area, we will definitely be taking our dog here for any future care!
Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful service by Lynnanne, who gave my new rescue his very first bath! She was absolutely wonderful, very knowledgeable and made both my cat and I’s first grooming experience very positive! My only critique is about the receptionist. She was on her phone so she didn’t see or hear me when I came for pickup. While it was only for a few minutes and she did apologize, it’s very off putting. When I asked for a report on my services to see what exactly was done for my cat, she replied a bit curtly- stating (paraphrased) “No one usually asks for that, but sure”. My groomer, Lynnanne, was much more professional and attentive. I hope the receptionist was just having an off day- it was Monday morning after all. I’ll absolutely return for future grooming services with Lynnanne! Thank you again for being so nice to me and my new friend <3

Experiencia negativa: I arrived 15 minutes late today for my dogs wellness exam and agreed to pay the $35 late fee. No biggie. But the assigned veterinarian Dr. Amber Karwacki was extremely nasty. I dont know if it was because it was late in the day or she is over worked or was simply having a bad day but she was nasty. I had 2 different techs come in the room that seemed all over the place and rushed. I mentioned during the intake process that my dogs anal glands may need to get expressed but wanted to wait until after he is examined. This tech took my dog back to get weighed. A different tech came in the room and said another tech is going to begin expressing his anal glands. I then asked to speak to the doctor since i already said i wanted to hold off until after he is examined. I heard Dr. Karwacki scream through the door "Im not dealing this!" Then she opened the door and looked agitated then got nasty with me. She said "why do you keep asking for things?"We're already running behind cuz you were late!" I told her I didnt appreciate the way she was speaking to me and decided to leave. No way in hell i was going to let anyone with that demeanor then give shots to my dog. Perhaps she needs a vacation or time off because no one deserves to be treated like that. Definitely shocking as she has been pleasant on prior visits. Today was like night and day. Unfortunately I no longer feel comfortable bringing my dog back here. Update 7/7/25. I checked my bank statement and noticed a $90.65 charge from Heart and Paw Callowhill. I called and spoke to Naheema who said she was the manager for that location. I asked her why I was charged since the appointment didn't take place nor was I ever informed that I was going to be charged and I also never received a payment receipt. She informed me that the doctor "examined my dog in the back " so I was charged. She said "when your late examinations arent done in the examination room to save on time." I knew that was a blatant and outright lie. I asked her to send me a receipt for payment and visit summary which by the way you automatically get when an exam is completed. She sent me the $90 receipt of payment and a visit summary that states an exam was not completed and states I was charged $90 for a NO SHOW. So was I charged for an exam or a no show?? I then asked why I didnt get a visit summary or receipt for payment on the day of the "exam?" She said the system sometimes doesnt work. Another lie. Once I caught her in a lie she began getting defensive and started over talking me. She then offered to reimburse me half of the amount. Naheema also laughed when I mentioned the bad interaction that I had with Dr. Karwacki. My issue at this point was not even the $90 but the back door shady practices and furthermore expressing valid complaints and concerns to the practice manager Naheema to just be laughed at and not taken seriously. Be very careful bringing your furry friends here for care. Get everything in writing. They are untrustworthy and will cover for each other. If they can be deceptive over something as small as this who knows what else they are capable of.

The doctor was super nice and was cracking jokes making it a great environment. The shop was very clean when we walked in and everyone was really kind!

Experiencia negativa: Recently took my pet there and received horrible customer service. Staff were unfriendly and uninviting. Still gave them the benefit of the doubt (we all have bad days) and when I returned to pick up my bet he was unbathed and the cut was not what I wanted. I even showed pictures! Management only apologized and agreed that they made a mistake. However, they offered no compensation or refund. Ultimately, I left feeling dismissed and scammed. Charles and Malik are not professional in anyway. A simple conversation and resolution is all I asked for.

They have been caring for my furbaby through everything — from routine checkups to UTIs, diarrhea, and all the little worries in between. Every visit, the team treat Patata with warmth— the kind that fellow furr lovers recognize, that I always feel at ease knowing she’s in the best hands. I truly trust them to take care of her like their own.

Experiencia fantástica: Have been coming here ever since my puppy was able to get his first cut. Everyone is super friendly and the environment is really good for your pet. I have never had my pup want to run away from the place, as some do when they have bad experiences. He does the opposite and runs to his groomer! I have come for 3-4 cuts so far and they have come out exactly how I have wanted. Special shoutout to Lucas who takes amazing care of my pup every time and gets the job done! Always provides useful tips for getting my pup more and more comfortable around grooming and making his experience that much better the next time around. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quality job and making their pet look as handsome/beautiful as ever!

Experiencia negativa: my dog had a c-section there got fleas and all 9 puppies died from Parvo this is true l took the last 3 puppies to emergency vet and was told it was nothing he could do they had parvo and was going to die one die at heart and paw on Tuesday by Saturday the other 8 died and mother got fleas from there I have 2 other dogs home and all had their shots and none are sick.

Experiencia fantástica: Excellent veterinarian and personalized service. They know my dog and provide kind and loving care to him. The office is clean and calming. We recently tried to use a dog pool at another veterinarian office and we frequently could not get through their phone screens to make an appointment, and their offices and exam room were not clean at all. Heart and Paw Callowhill is a great vet office that takes care of animals and their owners, and answers the phone every time.

Experiencia fantástica: First time here with my grumpy old cat and staff were very kind and accommodating. He needed to restart medication for his arthritis, have his ears checked for infection, and find out the cause of a continually runny nose. Turns out his tonsils were infected and antibiotics started - two days later he’s already looking better. My previous in Florida completely missed this. So thankful for the time and patience they took to conduct a thorough exam.

Dr. Amber was so kind dealing with my drama queen and all of the techs were lovely and reassuring. They even helped me find a coupon for her expensive inhaler. Experiencia fantástica: Heart & Paw Callowhill is THE BEST in the city! I have been going to this location since it opened for both vet and grooming for my dog. The staff is unbelievable, kind, friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. They remember pets names and pet parents and their names too. I have never been to a vets office that has such an upbeat environment and is so welcoming. They are so loving with animals and always communicate with the pet parents to keep them updated. Heart & Paw Callowhill really goes above and beyond and if I could give 10 stars I would!

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing considerate staff. I recently switched my pets over to Heart + Paw and could not be happier. My dog is blind and I feel like this is the first time we’ve gone to the vet and she’s been treated with consideration and dignity. A major example of it being our old vet insisted she wear a muzzle and treated her like a dangerous unpredictable problem dog. Heart + Paw saw/understood she is a nice/good dog, she just doesn’t understand what’s happening because she can’t see. They said if she needed something, they’d use a cone instead because the muzzle would make her feel more nervous and make it harder to breathe. And I was like “yes! exactly, they get it!” I heard the girls in the back saying “she’s not a mean dog, she just can’t see so she doesn’t understand what’s happening” and again I was like “yeah! Exactly! They get it!” She didn’t end up needing the cone and was more comfortable there than our old vet. She was always fully tail tucked and shook the whole time, at Heart + Paw she was wagging and greeting. 10/10 all around and thank you again to the staff for showing making Rosie feel comfortable. She may start looking forward to vet visits now ♥️

Experiencia fantástica: This was my first time using their services and they were great with my very energetic terrier mix! They had a great trick for calming her nerves/anxiety naturally. Other vets I have been to just wanted to sedate her but I love that they tried an alternative method first and took the time to understand her and develop a relationship with her. We will definitely be back.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. K and all the staff are AMAZING. My pets have never been treated with more love, care and respect. They are the best to work with and are so understanding of a pet mom’s anxiety. At this point, Emma, Thor and Bug have their number on speed dial! I’ve never had my cats groomed but from what I see while waiting in the office, the grooming is beautiful!

Experiencia negativa: I really debated writing this review but for the sake of pet owners who go to this clinic please PLEASE get a second opinion if something feels off. I took my cat into heart and paw back in 2022 when I first got to Philly around October. She had a small mass on her neck, just quarter sized at the time, and after multiple X-rays, an ultrasound, a cytology, and blood test they let me know it wasn’t cancer and was probably an infection or small trauma from a scratch she got before. Well by the time February came around that mass grew to 3x the size and covered half her neck. After taking hundreds if not thousands of dollars from me and running around in circles for months did they let me know they had no idea what was going on. I went to a different vet and immediately they suggested a biopsy and let me know it was a rare form of cancer. I trusted this clinic. The vet staff were always nice. I always felt welcomed and treated with kindness, however, due to their gross oversight I lost 5 months and I don’t even know how much money that could’ve been spent treating my cat. She passed July 2023, and it makes me sick wondering if she could’ve stuck around if I knew before. Maybe it wouldn’t have changed a thing, maybe it would’ve changed everything; only thing for sure is that I will never know and it’ll haunt me forever. Please get a second opinion for your pets.
Experiencia positiva: I brought my cat here a few months ago with an eye infection. He received good care, and everyone was pleasant. The prescription they gave him cleared up his infection. I'm an optician, so I am familiar with the cost of nuisance issues like this in humans. The cost to clear up pink eye in a cat here was more expensive than human care. Additionally, the whole time they kept trying to push a $1000 teeth cleaning on me. The upsell was real. He then had to come back for a follow-up. Most small eye infections don't need a followup unless symptoms persist when it comes to human care. Honestly, the whole place smacks of private equity.
Experiencia negativa: I had a HORRIBLE interaction with the receptionist Marleen/Miley and Dr. Amber Karwacki. My vet abruptly closed down, forcing me to change vets, so I made an appointment online. Once I made my appointment, I called to confirm that the Broad Street location was close to Mom's market. ( I am new to the area and do not have a car.) because I recognized they have a fee associated with reschedules, tardiness, and cancellations. I was assured that my appointment was booked at the correct location. A week later (today), 30 minutes before my appointment, I put the address into Google and noticed that this location was not next to Mom's Organic Market. I immediately called and spoke with Marleen/Miley, who told me they could not change my appointment to a closer location but told me that I could call the other location (East Market) because they had a 5:30 appointment available. I asked Marleen/Miley if I would still get charged for the cancelation fee if I transferred my appointment to the East Market location. She told me, yes; I would still get charged. She said that "she misspoke" and that the East Market location does not have a 5:30 availability today. She then asked me who I spoke to, who confirmed that my this location was close to Mom's Organic market. I explained to her that I was not given a name. She blamed me for not checking before my appointment and not getting the receptionist's name. I explained that I did not check the location because I called to confirm this information with a live front desk representative before to ensure this would not happen. I explained to her It does not make logical sense to reconfirm a confirmation I received from someone who works at this facility. Furthermore, I explained that I did not get the receptionist's name because the receptionist answered the phone and did not greet me with their name. I then asked to speak with someone else who was "above her" because she was rude and unhelpful. The conversation with Dr. Karwacki started pleasantly; but she was not actively listening to me and kept reiterating what the receptionist said. The trajectory changed once I explained to Dr. Karwacki that I walk (I do not have a car) and that this location is not feasible. She responded that some customers live close to the east location, and can walk four blocks, with no issues, and did not understand why it was difficult for me to do the same. I was highly offended, and I explained to her that statement was an ableist comment as 1 block vs 4 blocks might not be feasible for some people, especially for those with disabilities. I will admit that I was raising my voice as I was shocked that a medical professional would suggest that I should be able to walk 4 blocks because other customers do it. She began to talk over me and explain that she would not tell her receptionists to ask each customers if they could walk 1 block vs 4 and that it is their responsibility to check if they can walk to the facility. I explained to her once again that the problem is I was told the wrong information from their team and I should not be charged due to receiving incorrect information, and that it was ableist to suggest that if other owners can walk from East Street to their location, why can't I? She then hung up the phone on me. My major problems with this interaction 1. The lack of responsibility: Their receptionists gave me the wrong information, not ONCE but twice. Once about the location and the availability of another Heart + Paw. 2. I was under the impression that Dr. Karwacki believed I should charged a fee because other people walk from East Market to Broad with no "issues" and refused to understand that someone with a disability may not be able to walk "4 blocks", which is why if someone calls and asks to confirm the location of a facility it could be because they have limited ability to WALK. 3. Hanging up the phone instead of referring me to speak to someone who could better handle and manage the situation.
Experiencia negativa: My review is not about the Doctors or Vet Techs who work at this location, rather the business that is Heart & Paw. This place is backed by private equity and has no interest other than price gouging. It's full of hidden fees, and absurd costs that are baffling. If you're new to Philadelphia and looking for a vet, look for something locally owned. This is a business that is interested in profit margins, not consumer satisfaction. Sure, they provide good vet care, but the expense is not worth it. They recently ended their partnership with chewy so you have to use their pharmacy. Surprise surprise, it's significantly more expensive. They hit you with "recheck fees" for simple checkups that take 30 seconds. Literally. I've paid $100 dollars just for a vet tech to do a once over in the lobby. While sitting in the lobby I watched two other people get equally exasperated with their hidden fees and loop holes to make you pay more. Avoid avoid avoid. Go to a locally owned clinic that cares about your pet and has interests other than padding the pockets of Private Equity firms. This place is trying to expand all over Philly, they want to boost their profits on the back of your concern for your pet. Zero empathy, all corporate bullshit.

Experiencia fantástica: Another successful trip to Heart + Paw this weekend. Groomer at Callowhill location was excellent, very professional, knowledgeable, caring and did a wonderful job with my Cockapoo! Dog is shy but took to groomer quickly and got comfortable quickly. I hiighly recommend Heart + Paw. I’ve used the Callowhill and Northern Liberties locations and both were excellent! The staff does an amazing job grooming our Cockapoo and they are always friendly, professional and caring. During the appointment today at the Callowhill location, they notice my dog was experienced a medical issue and they called me to see if I wanted their vet to see her. Needless to say, I was very grateful and the vet was excellent as well! Based on my experience you will not be disappointed with choosing Heart + Paw for their grooming and/or vet services. A big thank you to the staff for treating my dog with such great care!!!

It’s always hard when you have a sick pet, but the staff really helped to put my mind at ease and also was very flexible with pricing and making sure everything would fit in my budget. Experiencia fantástica: Found Heart + Paw after moving to Philly and searching for months for a vet. We chose this vet because of all the reviews. I carefully read through each one and decided to give it a try. They were very quick to answer the phone, call back, schedule etc. They are very patient on the phone and will spend whatever time needed to schedule, answer questions etc. Both visits I had were great. I will say, both times they weren’t seen until about 15 minutes after their appointment start time, but of course things could happen. I would just schedule accordingly. Overall, their staff in person is super friendly and my dogs enjoy going there. Excited for them to get groomed in a few weeks because I have heard great things!

Experiencia fantástica: heart + paw providers and employees are amazing and cared a lot about my kitty Lemon! i am a helicopter cat mom and they answered every call and question so nicely and made my concerns feel heard. They were quick to follow up with me and did not make me feel like a burden. Dr Romanzi was very knowledgeable and cared a lot for Lemon's care and made my anxieties a little smaller. Dr. Karwacki also was super great when Lemon needed surgical treatment, and answered my many questions with lots of detail. i tend to come in a lot because i am nervous, and Dr. Kelly also has been great with Lemon's care and i appreciate the thorough treatment. lastly, the nurses and vet techs and the receptionists are seriously all so nice & welcoming, i would absolutely recommend this office to anyone! (only con is the price for larger issues, but small office visits are affordable and you definitely get what you pay for here! The money spent here is worth it to keep your pet health and happy. They also are willing to help you find cheaper options if money is an issue, so it is very clear to me that our pet's health comes first here!) Lemon is doing very well & she also thanks heart + paw!❤️

Experiencia positiva: We went for a wellness checkup with the vet. The overall visit was nice! Despite the fact that i was on time and my appointment didn’t start until 25 minutes after I arrived. I didn’t like the tardiness, because it was only one person there before me. The staff was friendly and very kind to my pup.
Experiencia fantástica: This is not our regular vet but I would highly recommend them for their kindness, knowledge, and integrity, especially if you need a USDA accredited vet for travel. I brought in my cat today for a simple microchip scan and identity declaration for export to Australia, as Australia requires two separate USDA accredited veterinarians to complete identification verifications to avoid a longer quarantine period. The front desk staff, technician, and Dr. Kelly were all wonderful and took great care of us. However, I felt most compelled to write this review as Heart and Paw only billed us for the routine wellness exam and the required $38 USDA fee, while other veterinarian offices were quoting over $300 for just filling in a single USDA ID declaration document. I would definitely bring my cat here again if I needed a new veterinarian! Thank you for all your help!
