Experiencia fantástica: Unfortunately, I had to bring my kitten here late at night, but I was really pleasantly surprised by the experience. Even though emergency clinics usually have very long wait times, my kitten was taken care of almost immediately. I was extremely nervous, but everyone there was so kind and calming. The veterinary nurses were very gentle and caring, and they even allowed me to stay with my kitten the entire time and watch the process, which meant a lot to me. Everything was explained clearly, they gave me detailed instructions, and even provided referrals to a specialist that I needed. My experience with this team was incredible. Truly caring professionals.

Experiencia negativa: Please go somewhere else, my initial visit I paid 400$ for eye medicine that’s 20$ on amazon so you would think I would get some type of good service. Fast forward yesterday I dropped my dog to my mom’s house in NY for a few days. He’s having eye discharge again while I am out of town my mom is not able to get into my house so I called the vet to send him a prescription so my mom can pick it up at Petco, vet told me he has to be seen again even though they JUST saw my dog. The whole point of seeing the doctor & paying that “fee” is the convenience of stuff like this. Doctor is pure evil, now my mom has wait until Friday so the amazon shipment can come because theirs a snow storm. Evil just evil! My poor baby. I am new to Philadelphia & I miss my old vet already.

Experiencia positiva: I brought in a feral outdoor cat we’ve been feeding for years and loved. Suddenly she could no longer walk. I took her to Veg. I ended up waiting for 5 hours. Not a complaint. Very busy night. But the staff was so kind when they did have time for our little stray. Ultimately, she had to be put down, which was heartbreaking. I couldn’t afford it, though, as it would be $700 plus $450 I owed for the treatment until then. They were so kind and worked with me so I could afford giving the cat a very comfortable and peaceful end. It’s definitely expensive, but the care is on another level.

Experiencia fantástica: I’m so impressed by this veterinary emergency department. I had brought my dog to another emergency room that is closer to where we live but they told us the wait was eight hours so I called veg and they let me know that the wait was only 30 minutes. When we got there, they brought us immediately to the inside waiting area where the other animals are getting care to triage my dog. They took such great care of getting every detail. I also had my puppy with me because I couldn’t leave her at home and they were so thoughtful and gave us a nice private room where the dogs could be off leash and lie down together outside of the chaos. After waiting a little bit, the doctor came in and explained what our options were. She performed all the diagnostic testing, including ultrasound, putting in IV, catheterizing my dog, giving medication, doing the rectal and physical exam in front of us and showed us all the images when they had them. I was able to sit by my dog’s head and pet him and tell him what a good boy he was while he was getting all of his testing done, and that meant the world to us. She even let me go over and help position my dog for the x-ray because he can be nervous getting onto his back. They let me watch them do the x-rays as well. They then brought over the x-ray images and went over them with me step-by-step. They showed me the microscopic results of his urine. It was all extremely thorough and I felt like I was part of the team and decision-making as opposed to just someone that was locked in the waiting room while they did all the things to him, which is my experience with other vet practices. I was so grateful to them for taking care of our dog bear! Thank you to Dr. Chatterjee and the team!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Russel and her team were great! I brought my cat in (who was very misbehaved :c ) for an emergency and my cat and I were treated with the upmost respect and compassion. Even when both my cat and I were all worked up, they remained so patient and kind. I feel horrible because I think my cat left some battle scars, but even then they were still so polite to us. I truly recommend this place and apologize again for all of the trouble we caused. 1000 stars !

Experiencia fantástica: I have taken my 10 year old rabbit a to VEG a couple times and received really excellent care. The staff are all very caring and accommodating, and the vets are kind and thorough. They have also done a great job communicating with my main vet’s office and arranging everything seamlessly. My rabbit recently had a bout of GI stasis and thanks to the folks at VEG we were able to prevent it from developing into something more severe. After a week he’s almost back to his old self.

Experiencia positiva: Update as of 1/5/26 The Medical Director personally reached out to me to discuss this case. He was very understanding and helpful, also passing my feedback onto the doctor. We talked through everything and came to a resolution. This isn't usually my experience in dealing with businesses so I really appreciate VEG's policy to take every complaint seriously and to address issues with their team so they can improve. I brought my 1.5 year old cat Gourdie here on June 28 2025 because he was not eating and was showing signs of pain. The vet techs were absolutely wonderful and the facility was impressive, but that's where my positive experience ended. After being there for a couple of hours and giving him supportive care and bloodwork the doctor finally came over to speak to me for the first time and the first thing she asked me was if I wanted to call my husband who was working because she "doesn't like repeating herself," not because what she was about to say to me was shocking and traumatic. She proceeded to tell me that Gourdie was in very bad shape and likely wouldn't survive and that I needed to consider euthanasia. She didn't offer me much of an explanation and the most disturbing part is she didn't offer me any other options whatsoever. She didn't say "this is going to be very expensive but you could do A,B, or C." Just that I should euthanize my barely 2 year old otherwise perfectly healthy cat. I was in shock and beyond upset so the kind vet tech offered me a private room where I was able to call my husband to leave work to meet me to say goodbye to our beloved cat. When he arrived I explained what happened and because he was in a different state of mind he was able to look at this situation objectively and say no, we need much more information first. The doctor reluctantly came into the room and much to her displeasure had to repeat herself. She deadpan said the same thing to him that she did to me and he pressed her for more information and other options. Only then did she say that we could do an ultrasound and surgery but it was going to be expensive, so we then asked how and where. "Well he'll need a blood transfusion to stabilize him first." "Okay...how do we do that?" "Well cat blood is very hard to find." "Okay...how do we start the process of finding who has his blood type available?" "Well we have to make some calls to see if we can even find it." "Okay...can you...do that?" and that's how the conversation proceeded, having to pry information out of the doctor who proceeded to show no empathy and no willingness to help. Thankfully PASE had his blood type and we transferred him there. Gourdie did end up needing 3 surgeries for intestinal blockages, 2 of which we had performed at Wissahickon Creek Vets who I highly recommend, and has since been diagnosed with PICA that we're managing with lifestyle changes and Gabapentin. While it was extremely expensive, our cat community came together in a huge way and we were able to fundraise to save his life. I can't believe I was in a room saying goodbye to my young cat because a vet that I trusted with his life told me to put him down without explanation or options. He's now happy and healthy and living a full life. I've been in cat rescue for many years, and I run a non-profit cat adoption cafe, and I cannot imagine ever treating people this way. It's simply abhorrent. People deserve so much better and so do their beloved animals.

Experiencia fantástica: Each of my four dogs has been here at one time or another over the last year - No life-threatening emergencies, but they needed to be seen that day and it was on the weekend or at night or when the regular vet did not have an appointment - and my experience each time could not have been better. They never separate you from your pet, they are so professional, there's always a veterinarian there, many of them Penn-trained vets. The support staff is all wonderful, the facility is modern, very clean, the amenities are nice, and most importantly, the care is top-notch. incredibly convenient location. Even the follow up is great. Highly recommend this emergency vet.

There was immediate service and they did everything to make sure my dog was taken care of!! They worked fast and took action immediatly!!! It was after midnight, but my cat was immediately seen by Dr. Caldwell and her team, and they quickly analyzed his problem and assured me that it was good that I brought him in because his condition could be life threatening. My cat received excellent care. Dr. Caldwell and her team explained each step of my cat’s treatment and the tests they were conducting. When he was ready to be taken home, they explained the prescriptions they filled for him and how they should be administered. They also encouraged me to call anytime with questions and concerns. My cat is doing fine now thanks to the expertise of Dr. Caldwell and her team, and everyone at VEG. I am very grateful.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff here are exceptional--kind, patient and compassionate. Dr Chatterjee and Sam were so thoughtful and really took the time to help me understand each step and the implications along the way. The young woman working security was kind and helpful. The student working alongside Dr Chatterjee was gentle and helpful. A stellar staff all around. I felt like my pet was in good hands the whole time. Follow up care was exceptional as well, and greatly appreciated. My only issue are the costs associated with care -- not anything to do with staff. I'm fortunate, and grateful, to have been able to provide the care needed, but it's a financial hit, and I can't even imagine for others who are struggling more. We really need to address this to ensure people aren't having to choose between their pet care and other needs.

Experiencia positiva: I had a mostly amazing experience with VEG, but pittie parents please note that one of the vets on staff is clearly fearful and biased against pitbulls. The good: Brooke at the front desk went above and beyond to make sure me and my anxious pittie were comfortable. Chris the vet tech was also wonderful and seemed to really understand my pup. The bad: Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with the doctor assigned to us, who seemed scared of my pittie. Even though I said that my pup was anxious and just needed to take things slow and gently, and even though I was holding her so that she couldn’t move her head, the vet kept insisting on tighter/more restrictive holds of my girl and implying that she would bite. The vet said “you know it’s just the beginning of my shift and I have other animals I’ll need to see so I don’t want to get bit.” Implying that my pit would bite her with no indications or history of aggression felt unfair and biased, and left me distrustful that my dog would receive the care she needed with this specific vet. Pits already face an incredible amount of bias out in the world and I am extremely disappointed that during an emergency when my girl was scared we were met with a medical professional who clearly could not see past my dogs breed and her own fear to look at my dog’s actual behavior, history, and needs. Update: the medical director reached out to me after reading this review. He took my concern very seriously, heard me out, and is taking steps that I feel really good about to make things right. I'm very impressed with the level of care and attention given to this.

Experiencia fantástica: The team at VEG ER are some of the most kind and helpful people I’ve encountered in veterinary care. We brought our orange idiot boy in on Sunday for eating a lily petal (super toxic flower to cats, btw). We were seen immediately, and I cannot say how much I’m grateful that this is where we came. Dr. Caldwell was straightforward and honest with us about the situation, but so kind and compassionate, and when financial concerns arose was quick to explore other options. Ultimately, we could not afford their top choice game plan, but Dr Caldwell was kind enough to help us come up with a secondary plan and even gave us a list of low cost clinics to get the rest of his work done at. The experience made a horrifying afternoon as smooth of an experience as it could have been, and everyone was so warm and gentle to my beloved boy the whole time. Hopefully we don’t have any more scares like that, but if we do, this is the first place I will be going to. Thank you so much Dr Caldwell and the team at VEG ER for your work! (P.S: if the bake sale in the lobby is still going, grab a peanut butter drop cookie. it was DELICIOUS)

Experiencia fantástica: This past Sunday, my dog Bean accidentally swallowed gum, and I immediately called VEG for help. The moment I explained the situation, they told me to bring her in as quickly as possible. When I arrived, the team assessed both of us right away. I was in such a rush that I didn’t even bring a leash, and they were kind enough to hand me one and take care of Bean while getting us settled into a private room. The nurse and doctor were incredibly gentle with Bean and very thoughtful with me. They explained every step clearly, what they were doing, what would come next, and what I should expect. After inducing vomiting, they gave Bean IV fluids, and what really touched me was the doctor staying by her side the entire time. She literally hugged Bean from beginning to end while the fluids were being administered. That level of compassion meant so much. They also guided me through contacting poison control, helped communicate everything clearly, and even offered me a phone charger since it was already late in the evening and my battery was dying. Every single person there went above and beyond. Overall, I had such a positive experience during a stressful situation. I am really grateful for how well they cared for Bean and for how well they cared for me too. I highly recommend VEG.

Experiencia fantástica: Wow. This place is amazing. I cannot recommend them enough. I brought in my new kitten and senior cat that were both having respiratory issues. They were open mouth breathing and had no appetite or thirst, and we thought they were dying. Dr. Russel looked at both of them at about 10 at night. We came from south Jersey because the emergency vet places in New Jersey charge you an obscene amount just to walk in the door. The vet looked at them, we explained everything that was going on, and rather than throwing thousands of dollars worth of tests at me, they use their professional opinion and deductive reasoning to diagnose instead of just looking at the cats for two seconds and writing up a bunch of tests like other vets and urgent cares I’ve been to. They sent us home with some medication, and it came to about $600 for the exam and 4 prescriptions they sent us home with. That’s the price range emergency animal hospitals in Jersey would charge you just to walk in the door. It has been a couple days, and both of the cats are doing wonderful. They are responding perfectly to the antibiotic and anti-nausea meds, and they are eating again and breathing better. I cannot recommend this place enough. They are so human, they are so understanding, and everything is out in the open when you get there, they don’t just immediately stick you in a room and do everything in “the back” so you can see everything happening with your own eyes. Rooms are also available, of course, but the fact that you can see everything going on behind the scenes is so cool. Dr. Russel was absolutely amazing, explained what was going on with our boys thoroughly, and if you are in Jersey and are close enough to this place, I would heavily recommend going here because it is more affordable by far than any Emergency Vet you’ll see in south Jersey. I’m so happy that our cats are okay and that I didn’t need to sell my kidney to get treatment for them! We will be going to this place for any emergencies in the future. The relief we felt at being welcomed into the care area, kept well informed and able to be present during care…the team was kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Somehow it was even affordable-most shocking of all! While taking care of Leo, they took care of me too I was able to charge my phone, get a snack, and rest while waiting for him to recover from anesthesia. When he was brought in for a ruptured anal gland, the staff acted quickly and efficiently, reassuring me every step of the way. From the moment I arrived, everyone was incredibly friendly and professional.While waiting for the doctor, I even had a wonderful conversation with the security guard and receptionist both were so kind and genuinely caring. During Butters’ treatment, I never once felt rushed; they gave him all the time and attention he needed. At the end, the nurse carefully went over his prescription with me and even took the time to separate his anti-inflammatory medication into individual vials, which I deeply appreciated.As a soon-to-be LPN graduate student, I truly value quality healthcare and emergency services and this team exceeded every expectation. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking such excellent care of Butters. I would absolutely trust this hospital again if he ever needed emergency care in the future. A few days later and was able to reach someone right away plus, I received a follow-up call today from the nurse just checking in on Butters. Experiencia fantástica: I was there from 2-4AM this morning as my dog ate a thumbtack. The night shift doctors there and the security guard were all wonderful. They were patient, kind, and super gentle with my baby boy. The open concept was a bit jarring watching my poor baby get put under and such, so watch out for that— you may think you’re prepared for that but I promise you’re not. They’re very understanding, very kind and friendly, and really helped calm me as I worried about my kiddo— Most importantly, they got the thumbtack out like it was something they could do with their eyes closed. Experiencia fantástica: Had to come on around 9 PM on a friday for blood and troubles urinating for my cat. I was able to call ahead of time and they were responsive, helpful, and patient on the phone especially while I was stressed and upset. They cover the lyft/uber both ways which was very helpful, you just have to call ahead first. When I got here, the staff was so helpful and kind - they were patient with my cat especially when she was stressed out and acted in caution and care to continue to not stress her out more. They have some snacks, coffee + water available as well which was an added comfort. There was some waiting, as would going to any emergency room would be. I was there for about 3 hours, and the cost was reasonable for the services provided, the fact that it was an emergency room, and the quality of care. I highly, highly recommend this vet to anyone and am so appreciative for the care I was provided today.

Experiencia fantástica: I found Veterinary Emergency Group on Walnut St, late last night. What a blessed difference from the previous emergency vet I had gone to!!! The receptionist was very nice on the phone, said come right over, there was a parking garage. They did not spirit your animal away to some back room but invited both my dog and me in. The vet tech sat on the floor next to my dog, not staring at him, and introduced herself. She explained every single thing she did and why. The vet came in and got down on my dog's level. She examined my dog, told me that the symptoms/exam did not fit with GI issues as I had thought. She said what they would check out his spine, hips, thorax and yes, just in case, his stomach (and his stomach was fine). Excellent communication by all members of the staff! And what was waiting like? There was a big, comfortable upholstered chair, free coffee, water, snacks. They offered a phone charger (and there were actually outlets!). There was a soft bed for my dog. They sent xrays to a radiologist and I got an official xray report in my hand before I left. I also got an email link to the actual xrays, which easily downloaded to my laptop. It was about 3 am when I left and I had parked 2.5 blocks away. The vet security person WALKED ME TO MY CAR (and I drove her back to the vet office). And when I said that I would likely have to park my car in a lot since I wasn't expecting there to be any street parking at home, they offered an Uber voucher! People putting people and animal safety before money. When does that ever happen!!! My experience at Veterinary Emergency Group on Walnut St. was OUTSTANDING. First time I went for my Guinea pig’s neck pain, they were extremely helpful and transparent with every option I could choose for treatment, costs included. They were the only vet I had been to that didn’t make me feel guilty or try to up charge me. Last night we took my guinea pig in one last time and every staff there treated us with such kindness I couldn’t have asked for a better team to care for my piggy. They helped my dog get better, they think she might of pick up something from outside and made her kinda paralyzed but before ewe got to the vet she was tryna walk around by herself but she walked sideways, when we got the vet they gave her oxygen , took vitals and gave her a needle then they gave her some medicine that would help reserves the drugs. Well that's what they think happened she might of picked up some kinda drugs while outside walking on they gave her 3 medicine to help her and it did she's almost back to herself. Also the security guard was so nice and sweet, he seen me crying and brought me a box of tissues and kept asking how are dog was and he gave us some water and coffee too. I didn't get his name but thank you for being concerned about my dog, not a lot of people are nice like that these days. Thank God they knew what to do and make her better so we wanna thank the whole staff that helped our lil girl and saved her life you guys are amazing people and I'm glad I brought my dog here when I did. Experiencia fantástica: My college-aged daughter and I rushed her kitten to VEG on Saturday morning after a day of not eating/drinking. We called ahead and they knew it was us when we rolled in, whisking us to the back and getting her vitals/bloodwork. Every cost was run by us, and we could decided how we wanted to proceed. An X-ray confirmed a mass of hair ties/ribbons in her belly, necessitating emergency surgery. Their quote for surgery was high, understandably, since it's a 24-hour service. BUT, this is where VEG really stepped up. They found a nearby clinic we could afford! They did NOT have to do this, and were so gracious to do so. Dr. Megan and every person on that staff displayed the utmost professionalism and kindness. We ended up taking her to the suburban vet, and she is recovering. We credit VEG with top-notch care to diagnose and save Prim's life. The icing on the cake? VEG called yesterday to check on Prim.

Experiencia fantástica: Took my dog Ben. Staff was the best and they discussed the cost of everything before they did it. Ben was repeatedly vomiting and lethargic. Vet Discussed a plan where they could do X-rays and labs but also discussed less aggressive treatment plan and lower cost treatment plan. Vet told me it was also very fair to just try some fluids and then I can also bring him back for more though work up. I felt confident in choosing the lower cost option and was happy that I didn’t feel push to spend money on unnecessary things. Ben got fluids and anti nausea medication and probiotics. Ben is doing much better. Total cost was 500 dollars. Not only did I trust the staff they were very kind and explained everything. I am happy that I know they are close to my Appartment if I ever need them.

Experiencia fantástica: We had to rush our sweet boy Tuna to VEG at nearly midnight on Labor Day after he very VERY suddenly was in respiratory distress. I've never experienced a nicer group of people. The Vets & techs at VEG were so kind and helpful - they saw Tuna immediately and got him into an oxygen chamber. They pulled chairs up for us so we could sit with him while they figured out their course of action. After figuring out the plan for the night they told us we could stay as long as we wanted with him which is awesome - I've personally never heard of a place letting you stay with your pet for an unlimited amount of time. They took such good care of him, paid close attention to his needs, and kept us updated the entire time. I never once felt like we were annoying them and that was such a relief. The Vet even sent pictures of him the next morning which was very sweet! After about 33 hours at the vet we were able to pick him up and take him home - that process was very easy as well! (Small note that you need to park in the parking garage next door during the day - it's Philly, so of course - but it was a little confusing to a non-city girl in the morning) I also want to note their communication with our primary vet was absolutely stunning. I was worried I would forget things while playing messenger but the Vets at VEG handled everything for us and made sure our primary vet was in the loop about everything - they even sent all of their records on Tuna to me and our Primary. Truly just such a good experience during an absolutely terrifying time. Tuna is very happy to be home with his girlfriend Porkchop now. We truly can not thank the VEG vets enough - thank you thank you!

Experiencia fantástica: Since I can’t sleep , I figured I would share my experience…. I would give this place 100 stars if I could! From the moment I called the lady was nice, understand, calming and nurturing. I spoke to the doc over the phone and she said to bring my cat in so she could check her out. The nurse greeted me right away and took vitals. In conclusion, Penelope had to be put to rest. I WAS A MESS AND COULDNT CONTAIN MYSELF!! They offered me snacks, water and put me into a quiet room so I could come to terms with what was about to happen. It took me 3 hours to finally say good bye. Danielle was patient and let me vent. She showed me so much compassion! It’s unbelievable how nice and how much they genuinely care! They allowed me to take my time and did a lot for me financially. Dr. Levin is a phenomenal doctor!!!!!! She truly cares about what’s best for my fur baby. She explained different options, told me her professional opinion and answered ALL of my questions. During the treatment, she told me what to expect and consoled me. I felt comfort , support and love from her. Small acts of kindness in moments like this make a big difference! Experiencia negativa: At 7:30am, I asked the attendant if I could charge my dead phone in the waiting room at the power outlet (I had a plug), just to call an Uber. She said "you're not able to" implying the outlet didn't work. I noticed an outlet in the open entryway and plugged in there, then she came over and told me I couldn't charge there and I should go to CVS instead, then threatened to call the cops... Really? I know I'm not a paying customer, but threatening to call the cops on someone who's trying to charge their dead phone just enough to order an Uber is terrible business practice. Shame on them.
Experiencia fantástica: My 15 year old Peekapoo had an emergency around midnight two nights ago and I decided to go here after searching for about 15 minutes. I can say this, God makes no mistakes! There is a reason why I was lead to go here and meet these angels who took very good care of my baby. I was a wreck as any fur mom would be, but they were patient with me, communicated effectively and made sure we were comfortable! Experiencia fantástica: VEG did an excellent job examining our dog Bella and providing advice on how to treat Bella, who had rolled around in tar that looked dry but was still wet, and who we thought may have ingested some of it. We were told to wash the remaining tar off with blue Dawn, to call the ASPCA poison control people, and to look for various symptoms that would indicate that Bella had ingested the tar. The blue Dawn worked well and Bella turned out not to have been poisoned.

Experiencia negativa: Well, let's start with the good. First they offer you Uber Vochuers. Which definitely comes in handy. They offer you snacks or water while your pet is waiting to be seen. The nurses, recipetionist, and even the security guard are all very good. One of the nurses offered to sit with my cat while I went to the bathroom. They even set a cage for her with a litter box and some pads. Since she was experiencing some issues in her bottom area. The bad. The vet was very unprofessional and rude towards my cat. Knowing my cat situation she screamed at the top of her lungs she stink. Than basically ran away from my cat and me. While my cat was on the exam table. Than proceeded to have my cat wait while she finished some paper work. My cat has been sitting in her own feces. But sure lady finish your little paperwork. That vet need better etiquette. To treat a pet like that is horrible. And me extremely uncomfortable for me. If anyone at Veg sees this. Please show this review to the vet that treated Annastasia. Another bad thing is pricing. What behind are they pulling these numbers from for treatments. It was going to be over $1,800 for my cat to receive treatment. Now a good thing is they will work with you if you give them a budget and they do have payment plan options. But, I don't feel like running a credit check for that. Of course my cat is worth it, but jeez. Now, I own and operate a business. So I know running a business isn't cheap. But there pricing seems to be capitalizing on people love for their pet. The rude vet did tell me she did not charge me for one of my cats med. To late lady the damage is done. My cat is doing better so I do want to thank them for that. But, I wouldn't be returning on account of the humiliation my sick cat received. Thank you to the nurses, front desk, and security guard for your treatment towards my cat and me. Yall was a saving grace for a rough time.

Experiencia fantástica: While I wish my pet never had a medical emergency in the first place, my experience at VEG has been exceptional. The medical assessments and plans, staff attentiveness, communication, compassion, and pricing transparency all deserve five stars. I wish I could give a sixth star for my team’s commitment to fear and stress minimizing care strategies. I’ve never heard of an animal hospital without a visiting hours policy — that is, you come and go as you please, no limitations on visiting your sick pet. They even offered to set up a bed for me here in a private room so I don’t have to leave him at all. I’ve never heard of such a thing and yet it feels like it should be the norm. Being involved in every step of my pet’s care (I was able to be with him and stroke him during everything except X-rays for obvious safety reasons) has made this experience a million times more emotionally manageable. Thank you so much to Dr. Summer, Amanda, Jess for taking such good care of both my cat and me. Special shoutout to Lamar, the angelic security guard, who ushered us in and gave me water and tissues as I cried my eyes out when we first arrived. This place is a haven if you’re having a veterinary emergency. Absolutely recommend if you value pricing transparency and being able to be with your pet as much as you or they need during the course of their care.

The vet techs didn't handle my pet kindly, she was left in a cage all night, and their empathetic words goad you into believing this is a worthy place to take your pet. Its better to be safe than sorry with pets, but the ludicrous price they charge is predatory. I spent nearly $3000 to have literally nothing done to my pet.

Experiencia negativa: TL;DR: VEG is a for-profit vet clinic that treats poor and homeless pet owners like we — and our animals — are less worthy of care. Cold. Classist. Uncompassionate. We’ve taken our dog to VEG three times. The first visit, for stomach issues, the staff seemed kind. But everything changed when they realized we’re homeless. During the second visit, our dog was diagnosed with glaucoma. We explained we had no money and were literally sleeping outside on Broad Street. They pushed us to apply for predatory credit services like CareCredit and ScratchPay, even though we’d already said we had no credit history due to years of homelessness. We were denied — and instead of offering real help, they sent us an $800+ bill. They even tried to charge us for an X-ray we never got. We were given one dose of eye drops, which we panhandled for days to afford. A few days ago, a cat scratched our dog’s already-damaged eye. It was swelling fast. Desperate, we tried another emergency vet, but they turned us away without $200 upfront. So we returned to VEG, hoping they’d at least check the pressure or prescribe something — anything. We told them we only had $20 left to our name. We were exhausted, hungry, scared, and grieving the thought of our dog going blind. VEG refused to help unless we paid more. No exam, no meds, not even basic compassion. We walked out with a printed list of other vets and cried on the sidewalk. We’ve tried low-cost clinics — they’re overbooked. We needed urgent help, not judgment. VEG is not here for the community. VEG is here for those with money. If you’re poor, homeless, or struggling — even if your pet is suffering — don’t expect compassion. This place is only for the privileged

I understand it can be frustrating to find emergency vet care, which is why our hospital works with third party payment plans, or within customer’s budgets when necessary. Unfortunately, we do not have an unlimited fund or the grants that some low-cost clinics have. We did provide care at no cost for both of your previous visits and gave an extensive list of vets for follow up at each visit. I am sorry that you were unable to follow up with them. Experiencia positiva: The staff is very nice, accommodating and clearly care for the animals. They will help stabilize your pet and test for common issues. They helped build a case for me to take elsewhere that ended up being a pre disposed condition in the breed that ultimately is treatable. I thank them for playing a role in helping my dog back to health. The DRs, Nurses and staff are a 5/5. You have to understand what it is. The model is built for emergencies and to resolve a common issue or buy you time. That is definitely very valuable in that location. I think the vet industry should honestly incorporate AI. It can help give you predisposed issues in every type of pet. How is it possible for a human to memorize every pre disposed condition of a breed.

Experiencia negativa: Awful!!!! My sister brought her dog in with a stillborn puppy and this establishment wanted 5000 dollars to care for the animal. No money no service, is that how we care for animals? Shameful!!!!! No payment plans available horrible, cold hearted, money hungry establishment!!!!!!! Dog was sent home with stillborn puppy still in stomach and told to wait until morning to contact her vet. Dog already has 3 other puppies and this one she could not pass you should all be ashamed of yourself. No other options given other than we want your money. Don’t ever bring your animal here!

From the minute you walk through the door they make a stressful situation feel a little better with how nice they treat you and your pet. I am in love with how you are able to stay with your fur baby throughout the whole visit and I have NEVER been anywhere where they allow you to do so and this way makes me feel a million times more comfortable. Dr. Callahan was amazing and you can tell she actually has a compassion for what she does and actually wants to help your baby . Experiencia fantástica: VEG is phenomenal! We had to bring our cat in 3 times within ~36 hours due to sudden unexplained vomiting, ultimately leading to an overnight stay. Each time, every staff member we encountered was incredibly kind and reassuring from the moment we walked in. They were genuinely compassionate and it was clear that making both our cat and us feel comfortable was a top priority. Our cat hates shots or checkups but the doctors and nurses were so, so patient and gentle with him. They let us stay with him the entire time and explained each step of the process in detail, which made a huge difference. Communication was excellent, they kept us regularly updated on wait times, test results, and next steps. They also took the time to thoroughly answer all our questions, both in person and the several times we called the office (we got through to a doctor very quickly each time we called). We also really appreciated their transparency when it came to costs. They explained the reasoning behind every recommendation without pressuring us into unnecessary treatments. I could go on and on but can't recommend this place enough! They will take excellent care of your pet and make the process as painless as possible for you too.

They allowed us as much time as we needed to say goodbye and handled the cremation process for us. Experiencia fantástica: Anytime I place has a high rating now a days I’m skeptical that the practice is making fake reviews (I worked somewhere that did this, not totally crazy I swear), but this place is legit. We came here when our older cats health took a turn for the worst and we had a feeling we were going to have to make a difficult decision. Everyone in this office from the from security, to the front desk, to the staff were extremely supportive and lovely to us on this hard day. Experiencia negativa: I was referred to this office by the Exotic and small animal hospital- KOP when I had an emergency with my bird who suddenly wasn’t putting pressure on his left foot. They told me my bird has multiple congenital issues, misaligned beak, completely underweight and was likely just going to die- and that his left foot issue was a sign of kidney failure. I paid $300 for them to prescribe gabapentin and some liquid food. I took him to an avian specialist as soon as they opened Monday and they were shocked at this diagnosis. Turns out he just had a small bruise on his foot and he was underweight not from his beak being misaligned but because he was not interested in pellet food. So they recommended some supplements to go with a seed diet. Partially my fault for listening to the worker at the pet store who sold him to me tell me that they need pellets. Just a warning do not bring your exotic pets to this place. They don’t actually know! I love my bird as much as my dog and for someone to tell me he was going to die without actually understanding birds is terrible. Picture of Kiwi for reference. He is doing much better just a few days later with the right medicine and diet prescribed.

Other than home, there wasn’t a better place for my fur baby to be! The open concept was incredible. I could be there all day and night, and when I couldn’t be there they kept me updated regularly on how he was doing. If I ever need emergency vet services again (I pray I don’t), but if I do, I know right where I’m going…to VEG!

Experiencia fantástica: We took our dog penny here late into the night due to her leg pain. We ended up finding out she likely has a torn ligament and will need surgery. Our dog hates the vet so much and was not at all cooperative to getting shots to sedate her for the X-rays. The team at VEG was so understanding and accommodating despite her freaking out. She was a tough cookie to deal with, but Dr. Bogart and her team handled her with ease. Our poor dog was scared to death but they were so sweet and kind to her, helped settle her down and ultimately we were able to get the X-rays we needed. I wish we could go to them for the surgery she needs, but we will definitely be back for any emergency needs. I cannot recommend them more highly! The staff was more than welcoming and very sweet Lucy is an excessive barker and nervous around new people. The staff did everything they could to make her feel comfortable. You can tell the staff really loves animals, they aren't there for the money. Regarding payment, they were willing to present alternative payment programs. 10 star service. And cheaper than another hospital in the area

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my small Chihuahua dog Danny here for an emergency having trouble breathing. The staff were very quick as soon as I came and they were very compassionate, the dr ordered an ultrasound and put him in the oxygen chamber. It was very difficult to hear his diagnosis. I truly appreciate all that they did to save him but my little buddy passed. I wanted to say thanks to the whole team for sending me a personalized card thanks so much!!!

Experiencia fantástica: The staff at veg were so fantastic this weekend as our 15 year old cavashon suffered a cardiac episode . The nurses and drs were so caring and wonderful with Ted . They showed incredible patience with my never ending questions and went over and beyond to make us feel comfortable while we were there . Ted is recovering from this episode and following up with his cardiologist this week . But I credit this hospital with getting him over this and god willing we will have him for a while more . I'm sorry you are unhappy with the paw print we sent as a courtesy from our crematory - I will give that feedback to them as this is not the experience we want with final gifts. Also, as a courtesy we discounted the work up and blood work we performed to make a diagnosis and only charged you for the cremation. Experiencia fantástica: I never leave Google reviews but I absolutely have to give VEG a glowing one. We took our cat in for a suspected UTI - not incredibly serious but it needed to be looked at right away due to straining and blood. Here’s what set VEG apart from other emergency vets in the city: - They actually picked up the phone - Everyone was extremely warm and kind, they took the time to welcome us and make us feel calmer - We were able to go back into the triage/exam area with our cat - We were offered coffee, tea or water - The vet went over the care plan verbally, then sent it to us using their digital platform for us to approve. The care plan also acted as an itemized receipt (which is nuts, usually getting an itemized receipt from a vet is like pulling teeth). - Cost was about half of what I’d have expected from other places - We were refunded some money when the cost of the meds for the UTI turned out to be less than expected I’d recommend VEG to anyone who needs emergency vet care - they are more fantastic than I can say in words. You guys absolutely rock!

My husband dropped me at the door and then went to park. By the time my husband got back to us most tests were completed. They took the time to go over every test again with him. They may have been the kindest group of people I have met. I pray I don’t have to ever go back but if I do I will go in feeling at ease knowing what I’m walking into. Experiencia fantástica: I brought my puppy in last month for vomiting blood and diarrhea. After imaging it showed he ate a diaper and needed to have surgery. I was at a lost I could afford to pay for my little puppers surgery and I tried everything to come up with the money and it wasn’t enough. The hospital helped me with the cost to save my pups life. After surgery I called them several times with in those first few days and each time they were patient with me and empathized with me. They treated my baby as their own. I am go grateful for them.

I went to VEG and they helped me with the cremation process and was extremely professional, kind and empathetic. I opened my mail today to have found a card that all the staff wrote messages and signed to me and my partner for our beloved dog. It nearly brought me to tears reading it. Experiencia fantástica: Our first experience with VEG. I was apprehensive as we have just recently moved back to Philadelphia and our dog had a medical emergency on a Sunday. Once we arrived Dr.Bober, the nurse Sue but me at ease and I knew our Tex was getting excellent care . The entire team was terrific. Hope I never need them again but I would definitely take our Tex or any pet to VEG for care.

Experiencia fantástica: Love my experience here. My dog Hannah was hit by a truck on New Years Eve! They were so attentive and kind. They made my baby a top priority.. My senior dog Macy needed an emergency appointment and an ultrasound. She was seen right away and they saved her life! Thank you Dr Callahan! Awesome care available 24 hours a day!

Experiencia fantástica: I came here the day before Thanksgiving with my dog Sasha. She ate 6 dark chocolate peanut butter cups and was vomiting. By the time we got there she was mostly fine, but they ran all necessary tests and we were on our way. I have been here before and they are always very nice and work quickly. The inside is nice because you are not separated from your pet. Thanks for taking care of my girl!

Experiencia fantástica: If you have an emergency with your pet, this is the place to go. From the moment you get there you are treated with the utmost respect, from the security at the front door, the front desk staff and the nurses and doctors. I took my dog in and they saw me right away. My dog was taken care of by Nurse Bri and Dr. Caldwell. The best part was they took their time and explained things. I was given a detailed summary of what they felt would be beneficial and let me decide. The Dr left it up to me to decide what I wanted to do with zero pressure. That was a welcome change from other places I have been. I found the pricing very fair. It's nice to have a lab in house for blood test results as well. I highly recommend going here. They are the best.

Experiencia fantástica: Veterinary emergency group is a great place to bring your pets!!As soon as I walked in, I felt comfortable and I was greeted by everyone. I was nervous as my cat had been vomiting all day and was not eating and I did not know what to expect. I was also financially strapped during my visit and I was not made to feel less than or turned away. They ended up administering a nausea shot for my cat so that she would stop vomiting. I do plan on returning when my funds are in order but I definitely recommend this place for anyone who is looking for emergency care for their fur babies

Everything from the high tech intake and billing, the brilliant facility, quality care, and most of all the amazing staff. Experiencia fantástica: In early December I brought my bunny here at 4 am on a Saturday from an hour away. No local emergency vets were able to see her. Immediately upon arriving the team was waiting for us and began assessing her. Unfortunately she suffered a seizure shortly after arrival, became unresponsive and had to be euthanized. Throughout the 20 short minutes I spent here I was met with so much compassion. The staff made sure that I understood every thing that was happening and treated Ellie with so much kindness in her last moments. A few weeks after her passing, I received a card in the mail from the staff. I had already felt so much gratitude for the grace they showed Ellie and I on such a difficult night, but their card amplified it. I knew when I brought her in we wouldn’t be bringing her back and that her time had come, but I’m forever grateful they were able to bring her peace. The staff was knowledgeable and compassionate and I couldn’t recommend them enough.

Experiencia fantástica: Went here today for the first time, my dog had an emergency. The front desk staff ran to open the front door and help me with my dog. We were taken right back to triage and saw a doctor and nurse immediately. The staff is kind, patient, caring and understanding. We were discharged in about 90 minutes with significant improvement for my dog's health problem. Dr Callaghan was so kind, thorough and understanding. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. No improvement needed here. I was quite upset and while the staff was caring for my dog, they offered me support as well! Highly recommend. And I feel as though my bill (including medications) was reasonable, a lot less than a vet emergency room.
