Experiencia fantástica: Updated Review – Legacy Drive Animal Hospital I wanted to share an updated review of Legacy Drive Animal Hospital. In my previous review, I expressed dissatisfaction based on my experience at that time. However, I truly believe people and businesses can grow and improve — and I believe in giving second chances. Recently, I had a health concern with my dog, Jordan. We initially visited another veterinarian who was wonderful, but unfortunately their office was closed when I needed follow-up care. As a worried dog parent, I didn’t want to wait. Despite my hesitation, I decided to return to Legacy Drive Animal Hospital. I am so glad that I did. From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming and attentive. The level of service and hospitality immediately stood out. Dr. Patricia Nguyen was incredibly comforting, knowledgeable, and patient. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered my questions, and most importantly, put me at ease. We left with a solid game plan for Jordan, and I felt confident in the care he was receiving. I’m very thankful they were able to take us in and provide such compassionate care. Today’s experience truly made a difference for both Jordan and me. Thank you to Dr. Nguyen and the entire team for the wonderful work you did.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog had been throwing up for several days. He is on a new allergy medicine which maybe the cause. We took him to the vet to do bloodwork due to new medication. They kept him there for an hour or so so they could check some other items. I was happy they worked him in. Lucky his blood work came back good and he is feeling better now but have to check with dermatologist about the new medication. May not be a good fit for him.

Experiencia negativa: Everything was great until the end, and just like in hospice care, it's really about how you handled things at the end that will forever stay with me. This company advertised they had no questions asked returns on non-eaten food even partial bags and even if my dog died and the rude receptionist tried to act like I was a thief after spending literally thousands of dollars there while my dog was dying with CKD and trying to get a refund on the one partially used bag of food. Just goes to show you guys can do everything right but if you mess up at the end and show such disrespect to my dog's memory by insulting me then that's still not good service. You all offered no apology after the fact when I reached out, so please don't offer an insincere response here--because that's what it will be.

Experiencia negativa: Yes, this is going to be long, but there is a lot of history here…. The service and professionalism was good, but now is completely lacking. I used to love this place and the staff… Unfortunately, they are corporately owned and churn through staff vets, techs and front desk like a fast food restaurant . That should have caught my eye sooner, but alas - it didn’t. Add to that, so many discrepancies vs the overwhelming desire to make money (read expensive and repetitive) and my opinion has changed. There is a vet on staff that orders a ton of expensive tests every time you see her with very little to go on. We said we no longer wanted to see her - which was SUPPOSED to be notated in our chart (because she orders a ton of tests on the dogs with no basis.) The last time we allowed it, she never gave us a treatment plan or medication when she left the room, she just walked out. I had to go get the office manager to ask what the treatment plan and medications were to be. I then had to call much later to get test results because she never called me - to which I received a text message with some poorly worded results and directions. Fast forward to the most recent time she was to see one of our dogs - even though it was noted we won’t see her, she ordered almost $1000 worth of tests on the dog without even BEING IN THE CLINIC – she hadn’t even put hands on the dog yet; she did it via phone calls.(goes to the pattern of dollars over care) I finally removed my animals from their care due to professional errors (giving the wrong dog injections at visits even though they were reminded twice which dog needed it at the time) inability to keep dogs and their prescriptions straight in their records, and failing websites that won’t process medication and food orders prescribed by the vets. The final straw was when the new vet refused to honor a prescription that another vet listed on staff prescribed him without “putting their hands on him” (read yet another vet visit) - which was considered a life saving medication. They had seen both of our dogs on nearly a monthly basis until this meltdown occurred. I had arranged to bring the dog in, but then had to miss the appointment due to work travel and they then refused to refill the meds until the new vet could “see” him, even with an active open prescription on file. The office manager would always say “I’ll fix it” when they messed up, but the last conversation entailed him speaking over me again and again until I lost my temper. Errors and excuses galore, and I’m certain that they will claim it is all on me, because until I forced the conversation, they never acknowledged any blame. I once had to bring back a dog that was given the erroneous injection and show the staff the swelling at the injection site before they would agree to the error. They then charged me for the injection in the correct dog even though I paid for the first erroneous one in the wrong dog. All of this to say, there were just too many errors over and over and corporate issues that make this location no longer viable option. Their goal here is MONEY vs care and they completely lack accountability for their errors in service.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Tanaka is a special provider. She really took time to care for our dog who had a chronic condition and was willing to try alternative options when we asked. She even took the time to research one of the medications and walked through the journey with us. The staff is fun, efficient and helpful- We are loyal.

Experiencia fantástica: My GSD Nyx is extremely fearful and can show signs of fear reactivity. She is almost 4, and I have tried so many vets with her and never found one that handled her properly or treated her well. Strangers and vets put her on edge like it’s the end of the world usually. But she does so well here and the staff treat her amazing. Previous vets have shamed me for having a dog that isn’t perfect and truly embarrassed themselves in showing their lack of knowledge on how to handle dogs that have these same issues as my girl. This place is a solid 10/10 for us. I couldn’t recommend them enough. Dr. Nguyen and Terry are our faves ♥️

Experiencia fantástica: I was extremely pleased with my dog "Beans" first visit to Legacy Animal Hospital.I was referred by a friend and I am extremely grateful. From the moment I made the appointment with Flora to my arrival and receiving assistance from a lovely young woman named Shy who carried Beans into the building me, I could just tell my dog would be treated well and he was. Dr. Nguyen was very kind and patient with us and explained her initial diagnosis as well as the result of the x-ray which confirmed it. She made sure I understood the treatment she advised and I felt very reassured Beans ws going to be with me a while longer. I was provided with medication for him and instructions on how to administer them as well as receiving a pill splitter and another device to use if he wouldn't take the smaller pill easily. How convenient! A follow up appointment was made and I left feeling very confident he would get better. I highly recommend Legacy Animal Hospital to everyone in the Plano, TX area and have already referred them to my neighbor who also has a senior dog needing care. They are great! I must confess I am a senior myself and didn't know how to post a Google review! My dear friend Sabiyah Salem helped me with this and deserves most of the credit except for Kayleh Packer who recommended them to me. Thank you Too!

He is very anxious and nervous and has to have a muzzle and drugs before I bring him into an appointment. They take very good care of him and Terry just knows how to calm him down. Maybe a “dog whisperer”. LOL. Christie is also good with him and speaks quietly around him even though he may be the loudest! Please go and see them at LDAH! Shi and everyone is amazing

Experiencia negativa: We got a new puppy and after a couple of weeks we noticed that he was being abnormally lethargic. After feedings, with the same food his breeder was giving him, he would throw some of his food up and his stool was runny from time to time. So one day it was bad, we called around and made an appointment. During his exam, we were told that Jake had a very concerning heart murmur. The doctor who did his exam, made mention that we should return him to his breeder as he had a congenital heart defect. For our own reasons we decided to keep him safe and comfortable with us as the breeder stated he would have to be put down. After a few weeks we took him to two other vets and both Dr's said he was healthy and did not hear any murmurs, without us having to ask if there were any concerns.

Experiencia fantástica: I still highly recommend legacy animal hospital. Dr. Tonaka helped my dog Zoey so much and was just so kind and caring. The vet technician’s are also amazing and so compassionate. I only have one complaint about one of the front desk workers I believe her name is Laura. My last appointment at the office Laura decided to make a comment about letting the AC out when I was holding the door open for my friend carrying in my 70+ lbs dog inside the office. She could barely walk at that point. Could barely even stand to go potty. Then when I call after my dog had passed I speak to Laura. I mentioned Zoey had passed and asked if I could return some supplements. Which I 100% understand not being able to but, it did upset me that no condolences were given. Just suggestions on where to take the supplements. I write all of this to really say it’s not hard to show kindness and compassion. Thank you to those who took great care of my sweet girl Zoey. As for Laura do better I know we all have rough days but that was/is a really hard time for me. Let me start off by saying I love legacy animal hospital! It has taken me so long to find a really good vet office that was kind to my dog and I and didn’t try to charge me an arm and a leg. Everyone is so sweet and helpful. They are amazing!

Experiencia fantástica: We love Legacy Drive Animal Hospital! Our Boston terrier rescue has high anxiety, but the staff help him get as comfortable as we ever see him with others. He happily trots back to the care area from the waiting room, the opposite of anyone would expect. Dr. Tanaka lays everything out and provides treatment options so that we may make the right decision for us. She also follows up quickly with a great amount of detail. We are thankful to have her and the rest of the staff in our corner!

Experiencia fantástica: My cat Ricky has had difficulty peeing the past few days. Having worked for a vet for many years I was concerned he might be blocked. I called Legacy spoke to Emily who was so super nice and was able to get me an appointment within the hour. Mandy the tech was exceptional as was Shayla and Dr Herzog was amazing. He was able to diagnose Ricky’s problem within minutes He did bloodwork and an ultrasound and determined there was no blockage Prescribed a couple of meds and we were done. The cost was extremely reasonable and Dr Herzog was an awesome vet. Very happy we went there and I will definitely be back with my other 3 cats for their annuals. Experiencia fantástica: We called about getting a second opinion. Marco answered my questions about a visit and was really knowledgeable. After speaking with him I knew this was the right choice. Whisky has never taken treats from his vet but he really liked Dr.Tanaka and eagerly took treats. She was very patient with him, letting him come to her on his own terms. She asked many questions and gave him a thorough exam. She really listened and took her time educating us about his health. Our first visit was excellent and I feel like they really care about our dog. We never felt rushed or like they were just trying to sell us on services we didn’t need.

Experiencia positiva: Great service! They seem to know the best way to take care of your pup. I will say, I feel like the wellness exam prices should be lower, but what can I do about that? Sometimes, the appointment feels a little rushed, so I can't fully comprehend what they just tested and what medication and treatment they prescribed for my dog, but they are always willing to slow down and help me understand anything I missed.

Experiencia fantástica: I cannot think of a more perfect vet than legacy drive. They are so kind and compassionate here and I NEVER get the sense they are trying to sell me on things I don’t need. In fact, often they will tell me cheaper alternatives that I can go buy at any store vs. actual prescriptions. They also do surgery here so the same vet you are taking your animal to for checkups is the same one that is doing the surgery which for some reason gives me comfort. Anyways I could go on and on about why I love them but then this review would be entirely too long.

In recent months Benji, my little Pomeranian rescue, had several serious health issues. Dr. Gillard always made time in his busy schedule to examine him, and at times it was necessary to refer us to emergency hospitals. Most recently Benji had a bout with what turned out to be colitis. As always, Dr. Gillard and staff made time for us, diagnosed the problem, and prescribed several meds. It has been six days, and Benji is well and back to normal. Thank you Dr. Gillard and staff for taking good care of my Benji!

Experiencia negativa: I am writing this review with overwhelming frustration regarding our recent experience with Legacy Drive Animal Hospital in Plano. On 7/8/24 we took our beloved dog to the clinic after he collapsed unexpectedly. The veterinarian conducted an x-ray of his heart and lungs and prescribed three medications for his treatment. To our absolute horror, after diligently administering these medications (that we were charged for), we discovered by peeling back the label that one of them was expired. This is not just a careless mistake—it is an inexcusable act of negligence that endangers the lives of our cherished pets. Since starting the expired medication, our dog has been breathing rapidly and experiencing severe discomfort—symptoms that were never present before our visit to this clinic. Desperate for answers and deeply concerned for our dog's well-being, we immediately contacted the clinic. We have called three times in two days, pleading to speak with the veterinarian to determine if the expired medication or the condition revealed by the x-rays are causing these alarming new symptoms. Despite our urgent and repeated calls, we have been met with silence. No return call, no follow-up, nothing. This lack of response is not just unprofessional—it is heartless and irresponsible. Our pets are family, and they deserve the highest standard of care. Instead, we were sold an expired medication and abandoned in our time of need. This situation has caused immense stress and anguish for our family, and we are left with no choice but to report this grievous incident to the Texas State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, and local animal welfare organizations. To anyone considering this clinic for your pets—please think twice. Our experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Our pets deserve better care, and we as their guardians deserve respect and accountability.

Experiencia negativa: They want to charge you if your dog look at them, and they even charge for follow-up visits. It’s very expensive. I thought I had found a good place until I saw the bill and realized they charge for every follow-up visit as well. They want to drain your pocket before you leave.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Clay Hartzoge was very thorough and informative. Friendly staff. Convenient parking. Didn't try to make us feel bad about the medicine choices. Great they send out reminders for vaccinations. They are so good with Sadie Grace. Will definitely be sticking with them for all of Sadie's medical needs.

Experiencia negativa: We took my son’s dog to be examined for a limp. Our normal (and well respected) vet, Dr. Gillard, was not available so we scheduled with the alternate vet. Rather than examine the dog and have a conversation with my husband in the exam room, the vet spirited the dog away to the back. She returned just to say she couldn't find anything wrong unless we had an xray done. We declined and were presented with the not inexpensive bill. We will NEVER use this practice again unless Dr. Gillard is available.

Experiencia fantástica: I can not say enough great things about this practice! Clean facility, professional and caring office staff, amazing techs and doctors. They were able to work me in for a sick dog when no one else in the area could. I moved both of my dogs to their location. Recently, I had to say goodbye to my 13 year old yorkie. The compassion shown by everyone in the office was second to none and made a very difficult time bearable. Thank you Dr. Hartzoge for the great care you provide to our fur babies!!!

Have a new rescue from BCCR 2 year ago and Legacy is her Dr. also. Foxy is the second Border and is having some issues same great service as with diarrhea. 2nd day of treatment she is much better! All other staff we’ve had contact with there are wonderful communicators, kind and helpful. The setting is friendly and clean. I have recommended the Legacy Vet clinic and Dr Gilliard to my best friend and highly recommend to anyone needing Vet services. They have been so kind and helpful to our darling Isabella cat. We have seen many happy dogs there too.

Dr. Hartzoge has taken extra time with us and has reassured both me and our nervous dog. We had a bad experience at another vet office, so it has been a breath of fresh air to be somewhere that they helped us work with our anxious dog (pre-medicating, etc), instead of making us feel ashamed for her behavior. They also were fantastic when Lizzo got into a bunch of chocolate granola bars. Quick emergency treatment and they called the next day to check in on her. I highly recommend taking your pet to Legacy Dr. Animal Hospital!

I like to evaluate risks vs benefits for medical treatment and Dr. Hindoyan listened to my concerns about overvaccinatimg my dogs. Since my pups are never boarded and are otherwise healthy, I waived the bordetella vaccine with his blessing. He also discussed a schedule for doing titer testing going forward to keep my pups healthy and happy. Lucy’s tech was wonderful as always with my skittish girl!

I wanted to find a veterinarian I could trust. I must have read all the reviews for all the vets in this area. First, I really appreciate how digitized this clinic is!! Making an appointment, filling out forms, and getting the info I needed was super easy and efficient. More importantly, all the staff I interacted with were genuinely nice and friendly. Anddd most importantly, I enjoyed my interaction with Dr. Gillard. He thoroughly explained his treatment plan and made sure I understood what he was doing and why. He took his time with my puppy and she warmed up to him quick. The 5 star reviews on here aren't fake! They're the realdeal.

I didn’t have an established vet prior to my pup being diagnosed with bone cancer when I came here for a second opinion nearly 7 months ago. We were welcomed with open arms, so much knowledge, and a plan that was solely focused on the comfortability and management of my pups pain from the entire team. We’ve continued to be shown so much kindness, empathy, compassion, and care from a team that had never met us up until a few months ago (and has only ever seen me cry in their office). Have never experienced having to go through the pain of seeing your pet get older, and I am so grateful to have found a place that makes something that is so awful, feel a little less awful.

I can’t express how much it means to me that my fur baby’s emergency was given immediate attention and the entire staff took the time to exhaust all options so that I could feel assured that everything that could be done was done for Murray. It relieved so much stress that the office had all the equipment and tests and could perform all the procedures needed right there without having to be referred to a different facility or specialist, because they could do everything needed right there. Every single person in the office is a true angel.

Experiencia negativa: This is my own personal experience. Please do not take your pet for x-rays as they are not too experienced at reading them. I have a 12 year old German shepherd who recently experienced some health issues. During our initial visit, X-rays were taken and it was determined that my beloved dog was suffering from hip dysplasia. Fortunately it was only affecting one hip. After examining the X-rays, one of the veterinarian informed me that their surgical specialist recommended a femoral head osteotomy, a procedure that would restore pain-free mobility for my shepherd. They mentioned it would be very difficult for any of my neighbors to notice she was ever injured. Filled with hope and optimism, I agreed to proceed with the surgery. They scheduled the operation for one week later. They assured me that my dog would likely begin putting weight on her leg and attempt to walk the following 2-3 weeks. However, as the weeks went by, I noticed no signs of improvement in my dog's condition. I then took my dog to another clinic to seek a second opinion. And upon reviewing the initial X-rays, this new vet immediately identified a different and far more serious issue; my dog had malignant bone cancer. The only viable option to slow down the disease was amputation. The realization that my dog had undergone a surgery recommended by the previous clinic, only to discover it was ultimately futile, deeply saddens me. I had spend $2,600 on a procedure that served no purpose, funds that could have been allocated towards a crucial CT scan that I had to obtain from another clinic at a cost of $3,500. It is disheartening to realize that some veterinary clinics prioritize financial gain over the well-being of their patients. I urge others not to waste their time and resources at such establishments.

Experiencia fantástica: i just took my dog here for a wellness exam and this is by far the best place i have ever been. the staff is so kind, welcoming and caring and the price wasn’t too bad either. Dr hartzoge is absolutely wonderful. he even got down on the ground to comfort my dog who has extreme anxiety. this will definitely be her go to vet for now on.

Experiencia fantástica: I called this animal hospital due to my dog ingested a piece of glass and then vomited, then acted like normal. My own vet would not even see her and just told me to go to the emergency room. The assistant at the place listened to my case and told me to bring her in. The doctor Bob was very experienced and X Ray her, then told me he did not find anything in her digestive tract. She is OK now. The emergency room would have done the same thing but costed me double. I highly recommend this doctor.

Experiencia fantástica: I read the reviews and was expecting a decent hospital at the least, but was even further pleasantly surprised when I was running late and gave the receptionist a call and she said "We'll leave the lights on for you" And when I showed up, everyone was so friendly, they have AN OFFICE DOG!!!! there isn't anything I can say that was bad, my cat was taken care of, everyone was so kind, and everyone was so knowledgeable about everything happening, I had a great experience and they will be Taro's primary care providers for a long time.

Dr Hindoyan walked us through the whole process, explaining each risk and answering all the questions. He was very patient with me as I tried to be sure I understood in order to explain things to our young children about what was going on with their pet. The ladies in the front office were very patient with me each time I called to check on our kitty and were able to answer all the questions that have come up in her recovery time. I am thankfully for the kindness of the doctors and the staff at this office and would highly recommend Dr. Hindoyan to anyone looking for care for their furry babies!

Experiencia fantástica: This was our first visit here and we will be switching to them full time. Called yesterday morning and they were able to get us in the same day. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We had Dr. Hartzoge and he was amazing! I have never had a vet get on the ground to assess my dog before. He not only got down to her level but he did not make her feel intimidated. My dog can get anxious and growl when she’s in an uncomfortable situation or over stimulated, she did none of that. Another thing that was a first was they brought me a quote for the visit BEFORE they did anything. They wanted to make sure that was ok before starting and offered different treatment and explained the different costs. I am always anxious going into the vet because I don’t know how much it’s going to cost at the register. They also take care credit which was a big help! I did not feel blind sided or treated like a dollar. I was referred here by someone and I’m so glad I came. Place was clean and check in and out was quick. We showed up 10 minutes before our appointment time and we’re out 30 minutes later. Everyone from reception, vet tech (Josa I believe was her name) and vet were amazing!!

It’s like Bella knew she was in a safe place from the moment we got in the room with Terri. Terri was so patient and waited for Bella to really acclimate to her surroundings before helping her out of her crate. Dr. Gillard has such a kind disposition and I truly think Bella knew he wouldn’t hurt her - she didn’t even move when he get her the two vaccines. Your front office is SO sweet too. The ladies let me know it helps that their staff are all great friends and they even enjoy game nights together. In today’s marketplace, people like you really stand out. One of our cats has some chronic medical issues and they have always been prompt with seeing her from the beginning. We first brought her here for a THIRD opinion after being told we should "Just put her down," by multiple vets for very treatable issues. I was beyond devastated and recommended to see Dr. G by someone involved in their adoption agency. We quickly realized that we had been met with a lot of misinformation that turned out to be very dated at these previous vets. If we had not finally visited Legacy, we likely would have been misguidedly guilted into putting her down. I am so grateful everyday. She is doing absolutely perfect now, thanks to them. There is NEVER a wait at the office and you can always get an appointment very quickly. Their phones are always answered, and test results come back extremely fast. I find their prices to be incredibly fair, and much more affordable than I have seen anywhere else. We have a lot of anxiety with trying to make sure our girls are always okay and the reassurance of the staff has helped us so much. The consistent kindness and knowledge we are met with here is beyond any other vet we have been to. I credit this entire practice with keeping our girls in great health, and I will always be beyond grateful. I recommend them to anyone with animals. We never plan on bringing them anywhere else.
