Experiencia fantástica: We always have an amazing experience at Mckinney Animal Hospital! The staff is always accessible and accommodating. Ms Mia is our groomer. She always does an excellent job on my Springers and Lab. Yesterday, even though she was busy, she took the time to walk my one very excited Springer to my car and clip him into his seat belt! Absolutely love her!

Experiencia negativa: The “owner” responded… but not with truths. Additionally, we have asked for our dogs medical records, which they still have not provided. I died comments from others on this business. It’s really just easier to do get right thing. But they won’t, so I will continue to let everyone know. If we can stop one person from bad pet care, it’s worth it. On the morning of our appointment, we dropped our dog off at 8:00 a.m. for grooming. We were not informed at that time that grooming would not begin until approximately 2:00 p.m., nor that he would remain crated the entire day. We picked him up at 4:00 p.m. Our dog is a recently adopted rescue who suffers from severe anxiety and abandonment issues. We have only had him for approximately three weeks. The veterinary team at McKinney Animal Hospital is fully aware of his background and emotional condition, as we brought him in for a veterinary visit immediately after adopting him. Given this knowledge, it is extremely concerning that he was left in a crate all day without food and separated from his family for an extended and unnecessary period of time. Had we been informed at drop-off that he would not be groomed until 2:00 p.m., we would never have left him there for that length of time. In addition to the prolonged crating and lack of feeding, our dog was completely shaved. While he did have some matting, I had already removed several mats myself, and there was no justification provided for shaving him to the extent that they did. When we arrived to pick him up, we were genuinely unsure whether the dog presented to us was ours. His appearance had been altered so drastically that he looked like a completely different dog. He was also acting extremely timid and withdrawn, as though he did not recognize us. The entire experience was heartbreaking. When we expressed our disappointment and concerns, the manager on duty, Pamela, brought the groomer into the discussion. While we were calmly explaining that our dog has anxiety and abandonment issues and that he should not have been left crated all day, the groomer responded by stating that it was “probably because of us” that the dog has anxiety and abandonment issues. This statement was inappropriate, unprofessional, and deeply disrespectful. Although the manager immediately told the groomer she could not say that, the damage had already been done and the situation unnecessarily escalated. Throughout the conversation, there was no meaningful ownership of the situation. Instead, we were told that we had authorized a complete shave, which we absolutely did not. If we had been told that shaving him entirely was the only option, we would have declined the service and groomed him at home. Additionally, we were required to purchase flu shots and a fecal test before grooming could be performed, totaling approximately $120. The overall bill was approximately $250. When we requested a refund for the grooming service due to our dissatisfaction, we were offered only 10% off and a $60 credit. A credit is not acceptable, as we will not be returning. Given the circumstances, this resolution is inadequate. The lack of communication, disregard for our dog’s known anxiety issues, prolonged crating without food, drastic grooming without proper consent, and the unprofessional and disrespectful behavior of the groomer reflect a serious failure in customer service and animal care standards. Due to this experience, we will not be returning to McKinney Animal Hospital. I urge other pet owners to carefully consider their options before entrusting their pets to this facility for grooming services. The manager Pamela and the owner Janel took no ownership or accountability for how our dog was handled nor their disrespect or unprofessionalism of their dog groomer. They simply did not care.

Experiencia negativa: Highly disappointed in this fly by night vet hospital that moonlights as a grooming salon especially because the groomer was great but their policies suck for one, they allowed my pets to be groomed at took my $225 payment without a fecal exam, but TODAY after driving over 40 minutes to the appointment and completing non sense forms such as the birthdate of my pets? They tell me the fecal exam is mandatory and if the pet cannot give one they will just have to Groom them another time. I’m not going to have my babies wait all day for something you allowed them not to have because you wanted my money last month! Will never bring them there again for anything!!

It can be very hard for me to trust veterinary hospitals after negative medical experiences, but McKinney Animal Hospital won over my trust time and time again.

Experiencia negativa: I want to share my experience with McKinney Animal Hospital, hoping it might help others. We started bringing our Cane Corso puppy there at three months old. Initially, the care seemed fine—she was treated when sick and even boarded there while we were out of town. However, problems soon began to emerge. During one boarding stay, the staff forgot to give her flea prevention medication, which was essential as we regularly take her to the dog park. They admitted their mistake and apologized, but it was concerning because if she had gotten sick, the vet bills would have been overwhelming. Then, they failed to notify us about her Bordetella vaccination, causing her to miss a critical shot. We trusted the hospital to manage these details since life can get hectic, we just can’t keep up with everything. When we raised this issue, it turned out they hadn’t even recorded her first Bordetella shot, so of course they didn’t know when to remind us about the second. Each time we brought up concerns, the staff became increasingly defensive, as if we were at fault. The most upsetting incident happened when our puppy caught an illness at a doggy daycare in Frisco. We wanted to bring her back to McKinney Animal Hospital for boarding and observation since we live McKinney, she is their patient and we trust her doctors there. We reminded the staff about their earlier oversights, explaining how these mistakes might have weakened her immune system. Instead of understanding, the manager told us we were no longer welcome at the clinic. What? This was shocking—our dog hadn’t done anything wrong, and we had spent a lot of money there, always appreciating the doctors. When I emailed to express my disbelief, to tell them that I would share my experience with others, I received a threatening response suggesting they would accuse us of intentionally trying to board her to infect other dogs if I posted a review. How dare you to say something so horrendous. This accusation was both hurtful and outrageous. The manager’s rudeness and defensiveness were beyond anything I’ve experienced in years of dealing with animal hospitals. Rather than offering care or a hospital stay to protect our sick puppy, they simply banned her from ever returning. Having had other dogs and worked with various vets, I have never encountered such disrespectful and cruel treatment. It’s heartbreaking to see a place we trusted turn so cold and unprofessional, especially when a sick dog needed support the most. I am sure the same manager/staff will respond to my review kicking, screaming, denying and accusing us in everything under the sun, it doesn’t matter, we have proof of correspondence and complaints. The other hospital accepted her with open arms when she was sick and didn’t slam us with accusations of trying to make their pups sick. Everyone we know still can’t get over their shock about how they handled it, my story is spreading around like wildfire. I hope this review encourages others to be cautious and demand better care and respect from McKinney Animal Hospital staff.

Experiencia negativa: Just wrapped up my first and only experience with this vet. My appointment was yesterday. My senior dog needed bloodwork done. I wasn't given any feeding instructions prior to my appointment. Called ahead about it, was given incorrect instructions. When the vet tech went to get the doctor during our visit, I noticed incorrectly taken notes on my dogs file even after correcting multiple staff multiple times. I was told to come back today for his bloodwork. I work full time and had to take off work yesterday for this appointment. I had to wake up at 7:00 on a Saturday to feed my dog on time to accommodate the vet's Saturday hours. I was told this would be a quick in and out. Waited 10-15 minutes before mentioning that I was told this wouldn't take long and the front desk woman was really rude to me about how behind they were. I told her to just cancel my appointment. Bloodwork is expensive, pet care is expensive, way too expensive for this level of incompetence and attitude. I had to miss a prior scheduled appointment for this. It's a shame, I really liked the doctor but yeah I won't be coming back here for pet care. I grew up in the area and this vet has been here literally as long as I can remember. What a disappointing experience at a community staple. Bonus points: kids running toward my dog in the lobby and then screaming crying because I wouldn't let them pet him

Now they are with us as we care for and love our chihuahua/husky mix. I recommend this amazing practice for general pet care, boarding, and grooming.

Personally I would not recommend. Update: I am one of their customers (or at least I was), I'm just using a pseudonym. Experiencia fantástica: We came in with our ween Saturday morning due to vomiting every 20min (x2 hours before before open) and they were able to work us in, treat our baby, and check on her 2 days later to see how she was doing. We got sent home with meds, special food, and subQ fluid (buffalo hump) for her dehydration. She was able to sleep the rest of the day in peace and is doing much better. Thank you so much everyone who helped!!
