Positive experience: I am so disappointed. In a moment of pain and distraction. No one had my back. I have been a patron of Bird Cat and Dog for over ten years with several pets and I made the mistake they knew me. Its my fault for not reviewing my bill and letting it be emailed but my beloved EB went general cremation and no one stopped to ask was that what I was wanting. I did not want his paw or picture frame I was clear but his ashes were not discussed. Even though you are grieving be sure to review your bill (cost was never an issue for me) to be honest I had not looked at bill as it was painful. You need to verbal state you want the ashes if that is you wish. I thought they understood as I have always done and discussed he was going with the rest in my pet ash garden. I have done many ALWAYS getting ashes back from them. Its my fault but when you are not thinking this can happen.

Fantastic experience: Outstanding care. Amazing and caring staff. Reasonable prices. I’ve been to the vet many times but this last time my dog somehow got out of her collar as we were trying to get through the door. I went running to try to catch her but she was half way down the street. Before I knew it two staff came running with their leashes and they were able to get my dog to safety. I was a mess by the time all this was over and we went in for our appt. The staff were so kind offering me emotional support and water. They helped save my dogs life and comforted me ~ I’m still so touched and thankful.

Fantastic experience: The receptionist was so patient, kind, and friendly and extremely informative when I brought my pet budgie, Henry, in for the first time. Dr. Schneider was wonderful! I was pleasantly surprised how thorough they were with Henry’s annual exam which gave me peace as a first time bird owner. She was very informative and gave me multiple tips and answered all of my questions with diet information. I like how she involved me in her check up on Henry so that I can know what to look for. She is an expert with birds especially and was very personable! Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Took my cat Frida to get her first dental cleaning here. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They answered all of my questions and took great care of her!

Fantastic experience: Our dog is extremely anxious of the vet. He can be difficult but doesn’t bite. The vet and techs go slow and don’t force anything but still gets what needs to be done. I’m glad we found them when we first got our dog and will keep bringing him back.

Negative experience: We live right down the street from this clinic so it was convenient to take our animals. Because of the convenience, we tolerated several things. Their prices are high, and they’re not very welcoming when you walk in. After feeling completely dismissed following several incidents, we decided to take our business elsewhere. At our last visit, after standing in the lobby for a good solid 15 minutes while the lady was on the phone. Someone else came out and told us that they were very busy and we should take our pet elsewhere. They suggested we go to Arkvets because it might be more affordable for us. That statement really felt like a jab. When we got outside, I asked my husband, do we look homeless?. No we do not look homeless, we look like worried, pet parents that just jumped up and threw clothes on. Well, we took their snarky advice, and we could not be more pleased. We are treated with kindness. We are welcomed in the facility and they’re very upfront with their pricing. Turns out it is MUCH less expensive than this place. So thank you SNARKY former vet tech. We couldn’t be happier.

Fantastic experience: I have been a client of Phoenix Dog Cat Bird Hospital since moving to Phoenix in early 2000's, and Their vets are knowledgeable, caring, and treat each pet as if it were their own. Everyone in the office - from the doctors to the administrators to the techs and reception staff are Fantastic. You are always greeted warmly, and my Dogs, are treated like the family that they are.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough about PDCBH. They are absolutely fantastic. They are always so great with my extremely anxious pup and always so helpful. Great prices, very friendly and honest and they take the time to get your animal as comfortable as possible. My poor guy was bit last night at doggy daycare and they got him right in the next day and he’s doing great. Even after moving to the East Valley I still drive out because they are the absolute best vet I’ve been to.

Fantastic experience: The staff was very friendly. The waiting room was not over crowed, like a lot of Vets, and when a dog came in or left that was not very social, they put that dog in a room and also let them leave by another exit. The Vet was great and very knowledgeable.

Fantastic experience: This is the only veterinarian that my Peppe' likes to go to. Every time we leave from this veterinarian hospital, he is very happy which makes me happy. He trusts the veterinarians here and this is the only place that he will accept treats from them. Anywhere else he won't accept the treats from their hand or from their place. If that tells you anything. The employees here have always been very very helpful, very very friendly and very understanding. I always have a wonderful experience whether it's on the phone or in person. I feel very comfortable using this veterinarian and I would refer this veterinarian hospital to anybody looking for a veterinarian.

Update: Have been going here for many years and still continues to be a great place for pet care. They have been managing my dogs Addison's and she is doing great.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Phoenix Dog Cat Bird Hospital for years with my cats. They have always been good to me and my cats. Recently I had a bad experience with UC not providing full discharge education for my cat’s new diagnosis. They also did not provide instruction for how to store medication and to shake it before hand. It was a mess and the lack of care, instructions, and proper education could have been dangerous for my cat and his recovery. I was able to call PDCBH and they were so helpful with giving me advice over the phone and getting my baby in to be seen quickly. They got the urine sample that the UC vet failed to do and even told me they gave him forehead kisses while doing so! I fully trust them with my kiddos and after such a bad experience with UC I am SO GLAD to have a team like this I can trust! THANK YOU!

Fantastic experience: I have a reactive dog that can be very fearful of strangers. Today she was seen by Lara Sosnow and she was incredible! Very thorough exam, very communicative and it was obvious she is an animal lover. Everyone there went out of their way to make my dog feel safe and comfortable and I’m so grateful they took the extra time to take great care of my girl.

Negative experience: I called in a panic to schedule care for my cat who suddenly got sick—and the girl on the phone, without hesitation, told me my dog was listed as deceased. As if I needed that reminder. As if I’ve somehow forgotten. He was my best friend. Losing him shattered me. And to hear it brought up so casually—like reading off a grocery list—was gutting. What’s worse is all of my babies on file she listed have passed. You didn’t need to say it. You just added more pain to a day that was already unbearable. I’m so tired of vet office front desks being cold, careless, and checked out. Laughing about weekend plans, gossiping, acting like the job is an inconvenience. You are the first and last impression. And some of us are walking in or calling during the worst moments of our lives. Please remember that. You don't know what someone’s holding onto just to make that call. Do better!

Fantastic experience: The veterinarian is awesome. They treat my tiny poodles like princesses. And when I needed to put my elderly dog over the rainbow bridge, they let me come in immediately. My usual vet was “too busy” and is now my ex-vet.

Fantastic experience: Going to the vet is sometimes scary for most pets but my dog Stormi is always comforted and cared for by all the friendly techs and also by the Vet when she has seen her. We are so thankful for the kind help in getting Stormi the care she needs whether it is a yearly checkup or her allergy treatment. Also how easy it is to schedule online for existing pet patients. Fantastic experience: I walked in and immediately felt like I was in good hands. I was early for my appointment and they walked me straight back, which was wonderful because that meant I could get Snaps out of the carrier, which causes her a great deal of distress. Allison was amazing, you could see her love for animals and she made both me and my kitty feel so comfortable in what was a scary moment for us both. Dr. Schlisler was knowledgeable, professional, and compassionate. I will now only take my babies to Phoenix Dog Cat and Bird Hospital and have already recommended them to my friends with fur babies. I am incredibly grateful for the help and service I received.

Fantastic experience: My sister and I took her cat Papas to Phoenix Dog Cat Bird Hospital to continue care with one of the most wonderful vets you will ever meet, Dr. M. Kirk. Dr. Kirk has taken care of Papas since he broke his paw several months previous. We were lucky to meet her at Banfield Hospital in Chandler and we followed her to Phoenix Dog Cat Bird Hospital in Phoenix. The staff are friendly, caring and compassionate. We never had to wait long to get his paw rebandaged. Dr. Kirk is a great vet that cares not only for her patient but also the patient's family. I highly recommend taking your pet to Dr. Kirk and Phoenix Dog Cat Bird Hospital if your pet requires veterinary care.

They’re so polite and knowledgeable and really love the animals.Dr. Sosnow And Dr. Gifford’s won my heart from my very first visit when they got down on the floor with my animals to be closer to them and to make them feel more comfortable. Fantastic experience: Phenix Dog Cat bird hospital really cares about your pet. We have been going there for years, we love our vet Dr. Sosnow, very compassionate and loves our dogs as much as we do.

Negative experience: The staff here are really nice. I used to take my cats to Dreamy Draw but they joined this location. Sadly I just paid $900 for a dental cleaning and extraction for my kitty and they somehow didn’t even notice that she had cancer in her mouth. She was having a hard time eating so I took her here with videos of the way she’s been struggling and they said her mouth and teeth looked normal but they wouldn’t be able to see until they took x-rays, so I scheduled a dental cleaning with the expectation of needing a tooth pulled once they got in there. I even paid extra for full chest x-rays because she’s getting older and I could tell something was going on with her. The vets were impressed with her health and told me she was in great shape so I thought the tooth extraction would provide the relief she’d been needing. When she never returned to eating normally after her dental procedure I took her back and they recommended me to an oral specialist. I then scheduled an appointment with the Arizona Veterinary Dental Specialists in Gilbert, where Dr. Balke, who was amazing, told me that she unfortunately had cancer. That her tongue was hard and adhering itself to the bottom of her mouth. I had to help her eat and clean herself. She was so hungry and thirsty. I had to put her down yesterday and I’m absolutely destroyed. The oral specialist said she didn’t have much time left and I had to let her rest two days later. Edit: Just wanted to respond to their reply. The doctor never said anything about neoplasia nor did she explain that to me. She said she didn’t know what the sore on her tongue could be but theorized it could be kidney disease which she said would be unlikely since she was just tested for everything before her dental procedure, so you guys ran another blood work and deduced that it wasn’t kidney disease and gave me a recommendation to the dental specialist. She had cancer in her tongue that was metastasizing for weeks, likely months BEFORE I brought her in the first time, when I thought it was just a rotten tooth. It was already to the point that she was making a huge mess of her food and was turning her head side to side trying to pass the food around her mouth without the use of her tongue, and I showed videos of this before the dental cleaning and extraction appointment, at the FIRST dental consultation. This is to say that her tongue had already been adhering itself to the bottom of her mouth for weeks before her first appointment here, as evidenced by the videos I recorded for them. The second time I came back I showed a new video of my cat trying to enjoy one of those lickable treats but struggling, only then did it occur to anyone that the issue could be in her tongue. The doctor they sent me to, Dr. Balke, could recognize right away from the videos of her eating, which were the same videos I showed the doctors here at her very first consult, that she had cancer. It just sucks to pay $900 to be told my cat is in great shape, just to be picking out her urn weeks later.

Negative experience: I brought my cat in for a dental cleaning and possible extractions. I was very clear that I did not want all her teeth removed. I was reassured that I was be contacted once she was sedated as to the extent of work needed. I was also supposed to be contacted when she was out of surgery and when she was ready to be picked up. None of this happened. I finally called in and was told my cat was ready for pickup. After I pay the bill, I get to talk to the staff and find out that they have extracted all but four of her teeth and she needs to be on wet food for the rest of her life. I did not authorize this treatment. When I asked why I did not receive any calls during her procedure, I was told they called and left messages. I showed the assistant my phone confirmed my no calls or messages. I asked her to call me and the call did not go through to my phone. The assistant was totally not interested in the fact that that her calls didn’t go through. I asked her how I could get the proper care for me cat if the clinic couldn’t contact me. Once again, she seems indifferent to the situation. My cat has been highly traumatized and has remained so for the last 48 hours. When I called the clinic yesterday to update them, I explained that my cat was still hiding and not eating. Therefore, I was unable to give her pain meds. Staff chastised me for not giving her meds even though it was impossible to do so. No person or pet should have to go through what we went through. This clinic has no regard for a pet’s wellbeing or the pet owner’s specific instructions. Avoid Phoenix Dog Cat Bird Hospital and specifically Kaitlyn Schisler. They are a danger to your pet’s health.

Fantastic experience: Been a while since I've been in but staff is usually great. The new front desk staff however needs better training. I picked up remains and got nothing like I was being handed a purchase very gross attitude towards a patients death. Hopefully Stephanie doesn't retire anytime soon

Fantastic experience: My dog needed his teeth cleaned pretty badly and this team made me feel so supported and comforted throughout the process. From the front desk, the medical assistant, and the doctors. I needed help getting my dog inside with my two kids and they didn’t hesitate to help. Their compassion and support not just for the animals - but for the family is top notch.

Fantastic experience: I’m never disappointed in the care received. I’ve had to put 2 cats down here and we have a 7 year old dog that still goes for his checkups. Everyone who works there is always attentive and helpful.

Fantastic experience: Love this team. I adopted my dog from them 2 years ago due to the previous owner taking her in for Euthanasia. The vets refused and asked the owners to surrender her. She’s been with me for 2 years now, she is THE BEST Girl! Grateful for the vet team to use their care and support to do good. What I thought was a small cut she was playing with ended up being cancer, and they were quick to diagnose it, schedule surgery and help with the recovery, which Navi fought every step of the way in true Bengal fashion. Fantastic experience: I took my 5 pound Yorkie (Sami) to Phoenix Dog Cat & Bird hospital. The Vet Justine and her technician were wonderful with my little guy's allergies. Not only was I happy with both their care & attention to Sami. But, I was especially impressed that they worked with me and my strict budget. Sami will be going back for his next round of shots. Negative experience: 1. Rude front receptionist. Been there dozens of times and the same person barely kooks at me and never remembers my name. 2. Incompetent Vets! My dog saw 3 Vets there and not one could offer any advice of what to do about a "mysterious" growth in my dog. Not one of them even botherered asking for a biopsy (which a new vett from a different clinic did immediately). 3. Terrible record keeping. Had all records sent over to my new vet and 2 recent tests (heartworm and bloodwork) for one of my dogs were missing! 4. Chage too much. Go to Dr. Kelly's for vaccines and dentals...MUCH CHEAPER!

After an unfortunate incident involving my own dog, they performed a skilled procedure to restore his eyelid and did so at a remarkably reasonable cost. They went above and beyond for us, especially during one of the most difficult moments of our lives, when we had to say goodbye to our 17-year-old dog. Their support and empathy meant the world to us, and we’re so grateful for the care they provide.

Fantastic experience: We transferred our cat, Teddy, records here because our other vet moved further away. Teddy needed his shots updated and a big mat removed that we were unable to do. There were no extra charges for random stuff like laser therapy like we've experienced at other vet offices. Everyone here was so kind and patient with Teddy. He didn't seem upset or traumatized about the experience at all, we have 2 more kitties at home and will definitely be bringing them here for their care.

Fantastic experience: All 3 of my kids are seen here. (Sage, Lincoln, and Wetzel) Each time they offer 5 star service and excellent follow up. My kids would never go anywhere else. From the receptionists, to the techs, to the vets, I know my kids are in great hands and they always deliver amazing care.

Fantastic experience: Phoenix Dog Cat Bird Hospital saved our vacation! Our dog's Bordatella vaccination had lapsed and she could not stay at a doggie day care facility in Phoenix without it while we enjoyed the local attractions. These guys made time in their busy schedule to fit her in and she got the vaccination on a Sunday. She had a great time at day care and we had a great time all thanks to the team at this wonderful pet hospital. A job well done!

Fantastic experience: We love Phoenix Dog Cat Bird Hospital! Miss PennyAnn Penopolis gets so excited to come, she begins the 'song of her people' from 2 blocks away! The staff are always friendly, knowledgeable and so caring! Our pets are always happy to see them. The office is always clean, and there's plenty of space to navigate other animals and their humans. The leash handles they have under the counter for hands-free account settling are a huge benefit for those us with arms! I highly recommend this office for all non-emergency pet healthcare.

All other vets and vet techs I’ve interacted with have been empathetic, friendly and caring. Fantastic experience: The staff was very friendly, we had a very easy time making our appointment, the doctor was great and overall the process was quick and simple! We were seen pretty much right at our appointment time too! The facility is clean and quiet. They did a great job on our cat’s dental cleaning, they were communicative throughout the whole process! Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: My visit today was just one of THEE best ever!!! They got me immediately into a room and it was nice and cool and very clean !! The female vet ( Dr. Sosnow ) was so VERY personable and she was so pleasant , I would love for all my experiences with places and people to GO so great !! We will NOW continue taking all of our pets here !! Dr. Sosnow I would highly , highly recommend !!! I Felt so comfortable and so did my son ! And my toy poodle Dody !!! When we got the bill it was reasonable and this is my favorite place now for all my dogs ! THANKYOU so much for making it great and Thomas was amazing as well ! Five plus stars !!!⭐️

Fantastic experience: My experience with Phoenix Dog and Cat hospital has always been great.I have been going there for 3 years now and I find everyone in the office very friendly and helpful. The vets all seem very caring and never rush you. I truest them.

Fantastic experience: We've been taking our pets here since we moved to Phoenix over 3 years ago and have nothing but great things to say! The doctors and techs are friendly and knowledgeable and always a pleasure to see. Costs are good, and they are very good about letting the pet owners decide best course of action. No pushy "you have to get this test now!" antics that you might see at other vets.

Fantastic experience: I take been taking my dogs here for 5 years or so. Every employee truly has a heart for each animal. Very friendly and my dogs love them.

Positive experience: LOVE THE VETS & Techs, they are wonderful with our fur babies! Unfortunately, the front desk receptionists is the reason for the 3 stars. I am not sure what happened to the excellent front desk and phone staff from the past but this current group of staff are not friendly, lack customer service skills and etiquette, they border on rudeness. If it were not for loving the Vets and Techs, I would change vet services. I shake my head when I think about how many pet parents may be coming in or calling who have heartbreaking news or are scared, to come face to face with uninterested and uncaring front desk personnel. Or having a rude phone call where they tell you the vet is wrong and the customer needs to do the work-they should be doing. This is a vet service business, time to find caring, pet loving front desk staff-like they used to have.

Fantastic experience: I am so grateful to work with the team at PDCB, they treat my fur babies with compassion and love. I feel that I am always given all of the best options for care and never feel pressured into unnecessary procedures. It's like having a vet in the family and I couldn't be happier with the care received for the routine to the more complex needs of my senior babies. Thank you for all you do!

Negative experience: NEW UPDATE: Went to the AZ Vet Board and got some interesting facts: 1. They did not check Stitch's records of the year before and the tube they used this time was DOUBLE the size of the tube used the year prior. Which shows they did not check records prior to going into surgery - so if your pet has any allergies, would they mess up? Potentially. 2. The vet was put on probation because of what happened here. 3. The vet tech (WHO STILL WORKS HERE) is NOT certified with the state so nothing could be done to ensure that this doesn't happen again other than pulling him from surgeries. 4. Furthermore, we learned that this was their SECOND accidental death at this vet within a short span of time as they had accidentally overdosed a cat with too much anesthesia during another surgery. Definitely more reasons I will keep warning people not to bring their pets here especially if you truly love them like family. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Like others have said: don't. They will kill your pet. It has been months and I haven't stopped crying because of what they did to my little chihuahua. Our dog, Stitch, came in for a "routine dental cleaning". They told me everything would be fine and he'd be okay for the holiday season. And two weeks later, on December 26, 2022, he was dead. Have the report that shows the reason he died because the team - in particular, the vet tech, Freddy - used a tube that was much too large for his small body. Have had other vets review the medical procedure report and all come to the same conclusion: they used the wrong sized tube. They told me that they would've FORCED the tube in for this to fit - TORTURING MY DOG. Forced it down with so much might that it RIPPED his throat apart. That's what other vets said to me when reviewing the medical report. They were absolutely shocked. Even the insurance company told me to put in a state board complaint after. The tube was so large that it tore his trachea. He suffered for TWO weeks with breathing problems, I would have to deflate him, and on numerous pain medications. He was so lost at what was happening. We barely slept because we had to deflate him in the middle of the night. We were in and out of emergency care. The hospital tried to save him by repairing the tracheal tear and he died on the operating table. Also, the amount of deflecting of the blame was mind blowing. Instead, we were directed to their insurance company to be "dealt with" in the end when we were broken hearted, emotional, trying to get answers, and lost. All we wanted to do was sit down with the vet team especially Dr. Sosnow and with a mediator present to discuss what went wrong. Instead, we were told to talk to their insurance agency. That their lawyers told them not to talk to us. Again let me reiterate that even the insurance agency was shocked and appalled once they read the report! Others I know were told that went back to this office was that they acknowledge their errors and fixed the procedure. But we never got an apology. Sosnow and team hid behind attorneys instead. We were treated so poorly because sadly, pets are property in this state and not family. I would not recommend coming here unless you want a dead family member!

Fantastic experience: I have been a client of Phoenix Dog Cat Bird Hospital since 2007, and I can say that I will NEVER change vets. Their vets are knowledgeable, caring, and treat each pet as if it were their own. Everyone in the office - from the doctors to the administrators to the techs and reception staff are EXCEPTIONAL. You are always greeted warmly, and your pets are treated like the family that they are. They go the extra mile with serious illnesses (my cat had congestive heart failure, but was kept alive and relatively comfortable for many years). They are truly a part of our family, and I’m very grateful.

Fantastic experience: The staff are super helpful and so friendly! We were put at ease and Dr. Sosnow really is the best. Our 13 yr old has been diagnosed with heart disease and we just couldn’t afford the meds at the time. They were able to get donated medication for us and I can’t express how grateful we are! Best vet office ever!

Fantastic experience: My boyfriend and I are new to the area and unfortunately needed to put our dog to sleep. The staff were incredible and very sensitive throughout the whole process/experience. As soon as we came in they immediately got us into the room, set everything up, and let us take as much time to mourn the situation. The vet herself was incredibly sweet walking us through the process and shared some kind words. We choose to get a paw print and cremate our dog. They did an excellent job with everything being extremely secure and placed in nice bags. Although the visit was on an unfortunate circumstance, we’re really glad we made the choice to come to this clinic.

Fantastic experience: I've been taking my JoJo (small dog) and Dennis (cockatiel) to this Veterinary Hospital for four years. Very satisfied with services and professional attitude of staff. Vets always explain their findings fully and let me know if or what tests need to be completed before doing them and letting me know what the cost would be. JoJo is 15 and has ongoing medical issues. Dennis is 25 and in fantastic health.

Fantastic experience: Love Dr Sosnow, she loves her furry friends, the staff is very friendly, very affordable in comparison to other vets we’ve been to. We drive 20 minutes to visit them when we have 3-4 within a mile or two of our house.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic vet clinic. Brought a kitty in that my boyfriend and I witnessed get hit by a car right in front of us. Threw her in a box from filiberto's that had Tostada written across the top. They were so helpful and kind! I have brought my other 2 kitties here since then and we are always well taken care of. Fantastic experience: Dr. Oyan and the team at Phx Dog Cat Bird Hospital were great. They got me in quickly and took great care of my cat. They listened patiently to all my concerns and were attentive to my cat's medical history. They recommended several treatment options for my cat's condition, explained each thoroughly, and were never pushy about the options. Overall, a great first vet visit!
