MedVet Salt Lake City: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Medvet was very amazing with us and our cat. He came in with FIP and needed to stay overnight in the ICU. They kept me updated and sent him home the next day to start him on his treatment. Our kitty became very lethargic about a week later and had to bring him in again. Dr Rosenbaum treated us so kindly and thoroughly checked him out again. He made us feel very cared for and we can’t thank him enough for his service. Any time I have troubles for my pets this where I’ll be going. Truly felt they cared for them like they were their own. Thank you to everyone there.
Ashley, thank you for sharing your experience. FIP and ICU stays are incredibly stressful, and we’re so glad you felt consistently updated and supported. When your kitty needed to return, we’re grateful our team could again provide thorough care and reassurance. Creating thoughtful treatment plans and clear communication—especially for complex conditions—is something we are deeply committed to. We truly appreciate your trust.
Negative experience: I brought my cat in and had the worst experience I’ve ever had at a vets office. When I arrived the waiting room was empty with the exception of one other pet. I spent a total of 4 1/2 hours there and only saw the vet for maybe 15 minutes. My cat was in so much pain she was drooling and growling when you touched her. She also hadn’t eaten in days which didn’t concern the vets office at all. After about 2 1/2 hours they finally brought us back to a room, we talked to the vet and he said he would get her some pain meds and help her. It took about an hour for them to come get her to give her the pain meds. Then they told me she’s fine but if she gets worse bring her back and sent me with anti nausea medication and no help about her not eating and nothing for her pain, which she is still experiencing. After giving her the anti nausea medication she started foaming at the mouth and peeing uncontrollably. Online it says the office is open 24 hours so I tried to give them a call and see if this is a normal side effect or something I need to bring her back for. On the phone I was told that they’re closed and call back later. I think either update your hours or update your phone.
Sarah, we’re very sorry to read how stressful this experience was for you and your cat. Seeing her in discomfort and then having concerns after going home would be upsetting for any family.
We do want to clarify one important point — our Salt Lake City hospital is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you were told we were closed when you called, we are very concerned about that and would like to confirm the number that was dialed so we can ensure there are no phone routing issues. Families should always be able to reach us when their pet has been seen by our team.
Regarding the anti-nausea medication, that is commonly prescribed not only to control nausea but also to help patients feel more comfortable and encourage them to resume eating. Treatment plans, including medications, diagnostics, or hospitalization, are discussed with clients and can only proceed with client approval. We cannot move forward with additional testing or hospitalization unless those options are authorized. It sounds like there may be some misunderstanding about the care plan that was discussed and what was approved during your visit, and we would very much like the opportunity to review that with you.
We understand how important it is to trust the healthcare team caring for your family member. If you are willing, please call the hospital directly and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team so we can go over the recommendations that were provided and answer any remaining questions. You may also email [email protected] and include a copy of this review, your contact information, your preferred method of contact, and any additional details that may help us investigate your concerns.
We genuinely hope your cat is more comfortable now and appreciate the opportunity to clarify and address your experience.
Fantastic experience: They saved my cute babies life and I will be forever grateful. All of the staff were extremely kind and Dr. Weaver made sure to explain everything to me in detail so I could understand the process.
Tennyson, we’re so grateful we could help your beloved companion. Hearing that our team was kind and that Dr. Weaver took the time to explain everything clearly means so much. Thank you for trusting us during such an important moment.
Fantastic experience: Such a loving group of people. You can tell how much they love the animals. They took such great care of my dog. Would def recommend
Michelle, thank you for such a heartfelt review. It means so much to hear you felt the love our team has for animals and that your dog received attentive, compassionate care. We truly appreciate your recommendation, and we’re grateful you trusted us with your beloved companion. If you ever need us again, we’re here for you and your beloved dog.
Negative experience: Brought my dog in and luckily the waiting room was almost empty. I still waited for an hour to be taken back to a room. They said the Dr would be right in. I sat in the room for over 1 1/2 hrs. I stepped out to ask how much longer it would be and the young girl was not helpful and was dismissive. Walking down the hall every exam room was empty. Ghost town. She said I’ll let them know. We went back to the exam room and sat for another 1/2 hr, no one ever came in. After spending half a day waiting we just left. Zero empathy or concern. Seriously felt invisible.
Dave, thank you for sharing your feedback. As a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital, our doctors and technicians care for patients based on medical urgency, not order of arrival. That means the most critical patients may require immediate, continuous attention in our treatment area—even when the lobby and exam rooms appear quiet—because many emergencies and procedures happen behind the scenes and can change quickly. In emergency medicine, timelines can shift rapidly as new patients arrive and existing patients deteriorate, and our team must stay focused on the patients whose lives are most at risk in that moment. We appreciate you bringing your dog to us and would welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly if you would like to discuss your experience further. Please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email [email protected] with your contact information.
Fantastic experience: I met with Dr. Trageser for a second opinion on my cat’s diagnosis of a tumor and cancer. She answered all my questions and concerns thoroughly —explaining all the options and outcomes of each. In the past, I have had pets with terminal diagnoses and this was one of the few times that a vet did not rush me out with a single solution and send me on my way. The staff was very nice, and I was pleased to hear that they have people you can talk to (I think they are called a “care coordinator”) because pets are a part of the family, and it’s always good to have someone to talk to.
Danette, thank you for sharing such a thoughtful review. We’re so glad you felt heard and that your questions were answered thoroughly with a clear explanation of options and possible outcomes. Supporting families through difficult diagnoses with compassionate, unhurried communication—and making sure they have someone to talk to—is incredibly important to our team. Thank you for trusting us with your cat’s care.
Fantastic experience: I am highly satisfied with the service provided during my recent visit with my dog. The staff demonstrated exceptional professionalism, and I appreciated the promptness of the appointment. The veterinarian was both personable and highly knowledgeable, providing a comprehensive explanation of my dog's condition. This experience instilled a sense of confidence and reassurance, knowing my dog received excellent care. The facility's location, conveniently situated off the freeway, also contributed to a positive experience.
Carlos, thank you for your thoughtful review. We’re so glad you felt confident and reassured after your visit. Clear explanations, knowledgeable care, and prompt service are incredibly important when it comes to your dog’s health. We appreciate you recognizing our team’s professionalism and are grateful you trusted us with your dog’s care.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Grint and her cardiology staff are amazing. I feel like when Beckett has an appointment they really like seeing him. They are all so sweet and Beckett enjoys all the attention! I appreciate their professionalism and knowledge of his heart condition and their willingness to help me understand it too!❤️
Marissa, thank you for sharing such kind words. We’re so glad you feel welcomed and supported at sweet Beckett’s cardiology appointments. Helping families understand complex heart conditions while providing attentive, compassionate care is something our team takes great pride in. We truly appreciate your trust in us.
Positive experience: Our small dog hurt her back and was nursing her leg to the point where she could not walk. Our primary veterinarian took X-rays and was unable to diagnose the issue referring us to Mountain West Animal Hospital in Layton for an MRI. After we took her into Mountain West in Layton we were told they don’t do MRI’s and were referred to MedVet in Salt Lake City. We were told by MedVet that the fastest way to get our dog an MRI with them was to bring her into to the emergency room where there “may or may not” be a neurologist on duty who could determine whether or not our dog would need an MRI. After telling them that she has been diagnosed twice and referred by two different veterinarians for an MRI that she did not need another check up and that we need an MRI. I even offered to have my veterinarian send their records down to MedVet. After that, I was told that if I did not bring her into the emergency room, they could not get her in until June. It is February at the time of posting this review.. I was then told that I could drive her to the Colorado location or the Idaho location and possibly get her in sooner at one of those hospitals. How many dogs die trying to get cared for here is my question. by the time I get my dog in for an MRI at this place, I would have to put her down because of her pain level and her inability to even walk.Do yourselves a favor and take your dog to Sage Veterinary Imaging in Sandy if your dog requires an MRI. They will get you in within 24-48 hours and they were great.
Cameron, we’re truly sorry for how stressful this situation has been for you and your dog. When a pet is in pain and struggling to walk, every day feels urgent. We want to clarify that advanced imaging such as an MRI requires evaluation and coordination by a specialist to ensure it is medically appropriate and performed safely. In many cases, this involves an exam by our neurology team prior to scheduling the MRI, even when a referral has been made, as anesthesia, imaging protocols, and interpretation must be carefully planned for each individual patient. Emergency admission can sometimes expedite that process depending on specialist availability, but availability is based on current caseload and the acuity of hospitalized patients. We understand how frustrating wait times can be, especially when you feel your pet needs answers quickly. Our recommendation to consider other locations was intended to help you explore all available options for timely care. We would be glad to review your experience and discuss this further. If you’re open to it, please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email [email protected] with your contact information so we can follow up directly.
Fantastic experience: Thank you all at MedVet Salt Lake and Dr. Katie Wright! I cannot say how much my family appreciates the care you gave our dear Izzie this past year. If it wasn't for MedVet we wouldn't have had the extended days to cherish her life. RIP Izzie Forever thankful! The Reed Family.
Thank you, Reed Family, for sharing such a heartfelt message about Izzie. We are truly honored that our team could help provide additional time for you to cherish with your beloved companion. Saying goodbye is never easy, and we’re grateful you felt supported throughout her care. Please know we are thinking of you and are thankful you entrusted us with Izzie’s wellbeing this past year.
Fantastic experience: They were great at getting us in quickly with our kitty, and gave us multiple treatment options with costs. When they found out he'd need surgery for bladder stones, they even offered the option of another clinic to keep costs down for us as much as possible. Everyone was very nice and empathetic!
Bethany, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad your kitty was seen quickly and that you were given clear treatment options with transparent pricing. Offering guidance — including outside referral options when appropriate — is part of helping families make the best decision for their situation. We appreciate your trust.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend! We originally had an appointment with MedVet's cardiology team for our Chihuahua mix, Chili. Unfortunately, his breathing & distress increased prior to that appointment, so we took him to their ER. After being admitted overnight to get him stabilized, he was able to come home. Vet Maddie was knowlegable & accurate with his diagnosis and Alexis helped us understand the financial aspect. They are very transparent... and Alexis was sweet & empathetic offering tissues as I was emotional. Considering all the care, I feel the price was very fair! The facility is extremely clean too. A day later was Chili's appointment with the cardiology dept. Cardiologist Kayla Grint and her team Kristalynn & Morgan are all wonderful! Very caring and informative, in a way an "average Joe" can comprehend. Thanks to a more specific diagnosis of myxomatous mitral valve disease and medications, Chili is now perky and happy like he used to be. Thank you, ALL so much!!
Jennifer, thank you for sharing Chili’s story. It means so much to hear that from the moment he arrived through his cardiology appointment, you felt supported and cared for. We’re so glad you appreciated the transparency, clear communication, and compassion from our team during such an emotional time. Most of all, we’re thrilled that with a more specific diagnosis and the right medications, Chili is back to being peppy and happy again. That is exactly why our team does what they do. Thank you for trusting us with Chili’s care.
Negative experience: I called in tears because my dog died tragically at home, and I didn’t know what to do with his body. The person who answered the phone immediately started to review pricing with me without expressing any compassion. After telling her twice that type of information wasn’t helpful at that particular moment, and that I needed help with logistics, she proceeded to get snappy and hung up on me. I immediately called Advanced Veterinary Care and was greeted by the kindest, most understanding person who helped me determine a plan. Go there instead.
Annie, we are so deeply sorry for the loss of your dog. Losing a beloved companion suddenly at home is devastating, and calling for help in that moment takes so much courage. The last thing anyone should feel during that call is additional distress.
When families contact us after a passing, our team is trained to review aftercare options, including logistics and associated costs, because those details are often part of making arrangements. However, those conversations must always be delivered with empathy and sensitivity. Hearing that you felt dismissed or that the call ended abruptly is very concerning. That is not the experience we want any grieving family to have.
We would truly appreciate the opportunity to learn more about this interaction and review the call. If you are open to it, please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email [email protected] with your contact information and the approximate time of your call so we can look into this further.
We are so sorry you are walking through this loss. Your dog mattered, and your grief deserves compassion and care.
Fantastic experience: I owe my Goldendoodle’s life to the amazing staff and doctors at MedVet. We brought her in a year ago with a bad heart valve. Through medication and careful monitoring she’s still a happy and active dog!
Kelly, hearing that your Goldendoodle is still happy and active a year later is wonderful news. Managing a heart valve condition requires careful monitoring and thoughtful medical management, and we’re so glad the plan put in place has helped her continue enjoying life. Thank you for trusting us with such an important part of her health — we’re honored to be part of her journey.
Fantastic experience: We were not hopeful about our Cattle Dog's cancer diagnosis. But after going to MedVet and meeting with Dr Katie Wright, we have hope for a longer quality life.
Marie, receiving a cancer diagnosis for your beloved dog is incredibly heavy, and we’re so glad you found renewed hope after meeting with our team. Providing thoughtful guidance and focusing on quality of life is at the heart of oncology care. Thank you for trusting us during such an emotional time — we’re honored to be part of your sweet dog’s journey and committed to supporting you both every step of the way.
Fantastic experience: MedVet is a huge Salt Lake City asset! Quality of care for both pet and pet's family exceed my hope, every time. They have handled emergency injury and end of life services for me. I recommend them to friends. An on-site social worker can help navigate the trauma of a beloved pet's distress. Or, there is a coffee snack bar and coloring books. MedVet goes all in.
Margaret, your words mean so much. Supporting both pets and the families who love them—whether during an emergency or end-of-life care—is something our team approaches with deep compassion. We’re grateful you felt supported not only medically, but emotionally, and that the additional resources helped during difficult moments. Thank you for recommending us and for trusting us during such meaningful times with your beloved companions.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely best care we could have had. They helped us through the hardest day of our lives. Thank you for your kind and compassionate staff.
Daniel, thank you for your heartfelt words. We are so sorry that you experienced one of the hardest days of your lives. It means so much to know our team was able to provide compassionate care and support during such a painful time. We’re honored you trusted us, and we’re keeping you in our thoughts.
Negative experience: Took my kitten in with a low temp, pale gums and overall not eating / drinking. Skin was tacky. The front desk staff were great - the technician was horrid. She spent 10 minutes with the kitten said she had a URI and sent her home. She died less than 12 hours later. The technician didn’t seem to like her job or even care. Absolutely disgusted
Megan, we are truly so sorry for the loss of your kitten. Losing a young pet so suddenly is devastating, and our hearts go out to you.
We do want to clarify that medical examinations and diagnoses are performed by a doctor. Our technicians support the doctor and patient throughout the visit, but they do not independently diagnose conditions. Based on your review, it is difficult for us to fully understand what occurred or whether a complete examination and diagnostics were performed, and we would genuinely like the opportunity to review this further.
Our hospital is equipped to provide comprehensive emergency and critical care when pets present with serious symptoms such as low body temperature, pale gums, or dehydration. If your kitten was evaluated, there would be documented findings and recommendations that we can carefully walk through with you. If you would like to speak with a member of our leadership team to review the visit details and medical recommendations, please call the hospital directly and ask to speak with leadership, or you may email this review along with your contact information and any additional details to [email protected] so it can be directed appropriately.
Most of all, we are deeply sorry you are grieving. The loss of a kitten is heartbreaking, and we are keeping you in our thoughts during this incredibly painful time.
Fantastic experience: We are so grateful for the team at Med Vet! Our mischievous puppy got into a box of Valentine’s chocolates, and the staff was incredibly friendly and moved fast. Their quick work helped our pup safely vomit up the chocolate and the wrappers, and they made the whole process as close to pain-free as possible. We truly appreciate having ER doctors available 24/7 to care for our babies. They also saved our kitty when he had a broken femur, so we don’t even consider going anywhere else. Thank you, Med Vet!
Thank you for such a heartfelt review. Chocolate scares can be incredibly stressful, and we’re glad our team could act quickly and safely for your puppy. It means so much to hear that you’ve trusted us with both your pup and your kitty — being there for families during emergencies is exactly why we do what we do. We’re grateful for your continued confidence in our team.
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience, from the front desk to the Dr they all were, professional, wonderful, caring, loving, and so respectfully understanding, thank you so so much for helping us with our lovely kitty.
Rehana, thank you for your beautiful message. Creating a professional, respectful, and compassionate experience from start to finish is always our goal. We’re so glad you felt cared for and supported while your kitty received treatment. Your gratitude means a lot to our team.
Fantastic experience: I can't express enough how great MedVet is. The whole team is amazing, thoughtful, and kind. I had to say goodbye to a beloved pet and they made the experience bearable. They were so tender and caring with my baby girl as well as me and they were reasonably priced. I had called other facilities that were outrageous in cost and it made me feel like they were taking advantage of the situation and emotions. MedVet was an affordable price and the care was priceless. I would highly recommend this place for the amazing care they provide. Furmomma Becky
Becky, we are so deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved girl and are honored you entrusted our team to care for both of you during such a painful goodbye. Creating a gentle, supportive environment where families feel cared for and unhurried is incredibly important to us in those moments. Thank you for sharing your experience and for allowing us to support you — our hearts remain with you.
Fantastic experience: Such a great experience during a late night visit with our pup Coco. From the staff on the phone, to the people at the front desk to our vet assistant. This place provides top tier service and care. Thank you for being amazing during a scary visit for us!
Angelique, thank you so much for your kind words and for trusting our team during a late-night emergency with Coco — those moments can be frightening, and we know how much reassurance and clarity matter when everything feels uncertain. Our team works hard to provide attentive communication, thorough care, and steady support from the first phone call through the visit itself so families never feel alone in those situations. We’re so glad your experience helped ease some of that fear, and we truly appreciate you sharing your gratitude with us.
Fantastic experience: We bought in our diabetic kitty. She was really sick. They kindly took care of her, let us know our options and made her comfortable so she wasn't in pain or suffering. We made the decision to euthanize at our vet the following day. We appreciate the support from the team at MedVet for their caring support.
Crystal, thank you for trusting our team with your beloved kitty during such a scary time. We’re glad you felt supported with clear options and that our team was able to keep her comfortable and free from suffering while you navigated such a difficult decision. Please know we’re holding you close in the days after saying goodbye, and we’re grateful your sweet girl was so deeply loved.
Fantastic experience: That place was wonderful. Amazing care for our sick kitty top yo bottom. Really amazingly caring people here. Our 8 month old kitten would 100% have not survived without their expertise and care. We do have credit cards and pet insurance. 100 out of 5 stars!
Derek, thank you for your incredibly kind words and for trusting our team with your precious kitten’s care. We’re glad you appreciated the thorough support and expertise provided from start to finish, and we’re grateful we could be there when your beloved companion needed urgent help. It’s an honor to be part of your kitten’s healthcare journey, and we hope they’re continuing to heal well at home.
Fantastic experience: They care very deeply about your pets when you bring them in. All of the staff was friendly and attentive and took great care of our dog. Dr Jordan Scherk took care of us and was amazing. Was a great listener and had a clear treatment plan with next steps if things did not resolve. Highly recommend. Only sad part is they don’t do primary care here!
Jordan, thank you for your heartfelt feedback. We’re so glad to hear that you appreciated the compassionate care and clear communication your dog received from our team. While we don’t offer primary care services, we’re always here for urgent and specialty needs and are honored to have been part of your dog’s care journey.
Fantastic experience: I would like to thank your amazing team, especially Dr. Matthew for being so gentle with my sweet boy Cash as he found his way over the rainbow bridge. Your guys kindness will never be forgotten. ❤️
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt words. We are so sorry for the loss of your beloved boy, Cash. It’s an honor to know that Dr. Matthew and our team were able to provide comfort and gentleness during such a sacred moment. We will never take lightly the trust you placed in us, and we remain here for you during this difficult time.
Fantastic experience: I came in for a tracheal tear in my cat. We were triaged within 15 minutes of sitting down in the waiting room, with my cat being taken back to be evaluated by staff immediately post. Regardless of her advanced age she was treated with life saving/prolonging measures in mind. The doctor who saw us came directly from assessing her to seeing us. He was reasonable about our outcomes and ensured every question we asked was responded to with a real answer. He was very honest about her condition and provided tangible options for care and pricing assistance. Paying for the appointment was a breeze (sand way less than I expected) and with a free 72hr follow up I felt very comfortable leaving for continued home monitoring. I fully expected to have to stay the night but in total the visit took under two hours. Leaving this google review feels like an obligation, not because anyone at Medvet requested it but, because the service and care provided by ALL of their staff was so impossibly respectful and kind in such a devastating moment in my life. Now back home with my cat again, I would 100% only bring her back to this MedVet for further emergency care.
Sarah, thank you for sharing your experience with such heartfelt detail. We’re truly honored to have been there for you and your beloved cat during such a critical moment. Our team is committed to providing compassionate, respectful care, and we’re so glad you felt supported, informed, and comforted throughout your visit. It means the world to know you’d entrust us with her care again. We’re wishing you both continued healing and peace at home.
Positive experience: Came in because my cat was vomiting. Onset was obvious, although I’m not sure dr. Hileman cared much, she mentioned testing (X-rays) presumably to check for blockage. Although, blockage was unlikely seeing as how this all started when I left town for two nights (longest I’ve left her) Unlikely my cat would have gotten into something if her environment was completely unchanged. Also normal stool would have been more evidence this was not the case. Seems like she was in a hurry to get out of there, which was kind of annoying. 150$ for a 7 minute consultation in which I was left more questions than answers. Treatment( anti-nausea) was the obvious choice and it would have been nice to get a little stronger opinion than a shrug . Also 150$ for 7 minutes is like NYC lawyer pricing lol, so I don’t think expecting a theory from her is asking too much. Besides that it was very good. Nice people, clean facility. Nurse that checked me in was extremely kind. End of the day I’d come back. I’m a newer cat owner so perhaps I wasn’t asking the right questions but I felt my consultation was a little too brief. What really matters is my cat is recovering fine so I got what I paid for! Thanks MedVet!
Cameron, thank you for taking the time to share your experience and feedback. We’re glad to hear your cat is recovering and that our team’s kindness and facility stood out to you. That said, we’re sorry to hear you felt your consultation was rushed and that your concerns weren’t fully addressed. Our goal is to provide clear guidance and thoughtful recommendations tailored to each patient’s situation, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. If you'd like to discuss your visit further or share more about your experience, we invite you to call our hospital and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email [email protected] with your review, contact information, and any additional details. We're grateful you entrusted us with your treasured cat's care and hope to provide even more clarity and support in the future.
Fantastic experience: I called this morning about my senior Chihuahua mix. He has a small facial injury and some swelling. The sweet receptionist did a triage over the phone and reassured me that I can wait an hour for a non emergency clinic - and welcomed me to come in today if I can't get a same day appointment elsewhere. I'm very appreciate of their calm demeanor, the over the phone evaluation, reassurance, and kindness on this stressful morning. They gave me a solid plan. Thank y'all very much!
Heather, we know how stressful it can be to worry about a senior companion, and we’re so glad our team could offer reassurance and clear guidance when you needed it most. Taking the time to triage concerns, provide honest recommendations, and help families feel confident in next steps is an important part of our role. Thank you for trusting us and for sharing such thoughtful feedback—we’re always here to support you and your little guy.
Positive experience: The service I received was great. The ladies at the desk, the techs, and vet were all very nice and listened to us. My only issue was the time I waited. They didn’t seem that busy, but I guess I don’t know what they were dealing with in the back that may have come in before I got there.
Lisa, we appreciate you sharing your experience and are glad you felt listened to and treated kindly by our team. Emergency care is based on medical urgency, and we understand how difficult waiting can be when you’re worried about your pet. Thank you for your patience and for trusting us with your pet’s care.
Fantastic experience: I took my little dachshund who had a sudden onset of IVDD. Our emergency vet in Idaho referred us to MedVet 4 hrs from my home since they were the closest vet with connections to do a MRI and Neurologist. Luckily after some meds, on the way to MedVet he improved slightly. MedVet were friendly, got to see him, and luckily we did not hav to get an MRI or see the neurologist as it seems he will be able to heal without surgery. I appreciated they didn’t try to push us into any unnecessary tests or X-rays or mri’s so we didn’t have to spend that money.
Jennifer, we know how frightening a sudden IVDD episode can be, especially when you’re traveling hours away for advanced care, and we’re glad your beloved Dachshund showed improvement along the way. Our team’s priority is always to assess each patient carefully, explain findings clearly, and recommend only what’s medically appropriate based on how they’re presenting. We’re grateful you felt supported, informed, and confident in the plan moving forward, and thank you for trusting us during such a stressful situation.
Fantastic experience: we had to suddenly put our Pippa down today and they were so quick about it. they even gave her back to us in a beautifully decorated box. thank you guys (old picture of pippa included) PS: Special shout out to Josh, Megan and Dr. Hamblin. thank you all
Karma, we are so deeply sorry for the sudden loss of Pippa. We’re grateful you appreciated how quickly, gently, and thoughtfully our team supported you during such a heartbreaking moment, and that Pippa was cared for with dignity and love every step of the way. Being able to return her to you in a meaningful way and honor her life matters to us, and we’re glad that brought even a small measure of comfort. Thank you for trusting us with Pippa’s care and for taking the time to share your experience during such a difficult day.
Fantastic experience: Today we had to euthanize one of our cats it was sudden. Of the five places I called three were closed and one was outrageously expensive, and one was MedVet. I chose MedVet because when Megan answered the phone and I explained my situation to her she answered my questions and reassured me. Josh did the intake. He was so kind and patient. He had a room set up for all of us to sit in - there were five of us. He would also check in with us and ask if we needed anything and to update us with how soon the doctor would be with us. I was able to hold Pippa in my arms when the medication was given. The doctor explained everything to us. We were allowed as much time as we wanted before and after. We took her home in a little cardboard coffin. Thank you all for making one of the worst experiences a little easier to cope with.
Sheyeanne, we are so deeply sorry for the sudden loss of Pippa. We’re grateful you appreciated the compassion, patience, and clear communication our team provided during such a heartbreaking moment, from your first call through the time you were able to say goodbye. Being able to hold Pippa, take the time you needed, and feel supported matters so much in moments like these, and we’re honored to have been there for you and your family. Thank you for trusting us with Pippa’s care and for sharing your experience.
Fantastic experience: My cat June was seen today. She has a cut on her left side..my baby girl is my world so taking her to a ER vet was totally necessary. I was worried about cost however my girls care is more important. When I arrived the receptionist was so sweet. She was very sweet and calm..then when we spoke with the triage nurse we still were shown with so much respect and care. She made sure I understand everything and explained June would be okay. I waited in the waited area not too long and was explained care and after care..the vet was kind and spoke to me and my husband about our concerns and needs for June. We didn't want too much longer after that and June was ready to leave. June was purring in her kennel ready to go home and felt safe. ❤️ Thank you thank you for all the love and making sure my June was taking care of
Cindee, thank you so much for sharing June’s story with us. It’s clear how deeply loved she is, and we’re grateful you brought her in so she could receive the care she needed. We’re glad our team could help ease your worries, walk you through each step, and make sure June felt safe and comfortable throughout her visit. Hearing that she was purring and ready to head home means everything. Thank you for trusting our team with your sweet girl—we’re wishing June continued healing and lots of comfort at home.
Fantastic experience: Our Joey means so much to us and the doctors and staff were exceptional in medical care and personal care for us. This experience was new for us to reach out for emergency care for our pet but felt he was in the very best care with all at the hospital. Thank you so very much! Geni
Geni, thank you for sharing this. Joey is clearly so loved, and we’re honored to have been there for him — and for you — during such a stressful moment. We’re grateful you felt confident in the care provided and appreciate your kind words more than you know.
Fantastic experience: Brought my 9 year old here and the initial male vet was very helpful and informative. Felix was diagnosed with cancer on his intestines. We opted for surgery and surgeon Dr. Lynn Maki was absolutely amazing. She found more cancer on his pancreas and removed it. Felix seems to be doing great day 2 post op. This is the ER vet to go to. Never had a better experience besides cost, but that's not really up to them. Thank you all. - Felix's dad
Jacob, thank you for sharing Felix’s journey and for trusting our team during such a critical time. We’re grateful you felt supported and well informed throughout the process, and we’re so glad to hear Felix is doing well after surgery. It means a lot that you recognized the care and dedication of our surgical team, and we appreciate you choosing us during such an important moment for your family. We’re wishing Felix continued healing and are always here for you both.
Positive experience: Update: I originally left a one-star review for MedVet due to multiple frustrating experiences that I have had with their practice. The experience that I was receiving from MedVet made me feel like I was running in place with my pet’s health and being taken advantage of financially. The greatest benefit about MedVet is that they have multiple disciplinary experts on staff at any given time. At MedVet, your pet’s veterinarian is able to consult with a team of professionals to ensure the best path forward to healing your pet. Our recent experience was just that — vets working together to fix our dog. MedVet is a high quality facility that requires a large effort and full staff to operate at its best. I applaud the staff for their psychological strength in handling the difficult situations they face every day. Recently, my wife was waiting in the lobby when she saw nearly the entire staff come out and applause a pathway for a dog that finished their cancer treatment, bringing her to tears (the good kind). Undoubtedly a special moment to witness where she could see just how much MedVet cares about their treatment of animals. MedVet continues to improve their efficiency with the use of patient label collars and improved communications with the pet owners. My review remains 3 stars because I feel that MedVet could use more technicians for better treatment and patient throughput, mainly with specialty departments. Even with a scheduled appointment , the last couple times I have been in, I waited in the lobby over 30 minutes for my pet to be seen. As an emergency facility, I understand how it can be difficult to manage throughput, and I look forward to improving my rating for MedVet as they improve their operations! A final shoutout to Dr. Wright in neurology and her team who continue to show us the utmost compassion in treating our dog. It has been a long road, and we would be so lost without Dr. Wright!
Lucas, we’re genuinely sorry to hear how difficult this experience has been for both you and your dog. Managing seizures and other complex medical issues can be an exhausting journey, and we understand how much trust and hope you’ve placed in each step along the way. Please know that our team is committed to transparency, collaboration, and safe patient care, and we deeply regret that your experience left you feeling otherwise. While we’re grateful to hear your appreciation for Dr. Wright and her support through your pet’s neurology care, we’re disheartened to learn that other parts of your experience fell short of expectations.
We take concerns about communication, medication accuracy, and financial transparency very seriously, and we want to assure you that our care recommendations are never driven by financial gain but by what is medically necessary for each individual patient. We apologize for any billing confusion and understand how distressing a prescription error would be, even if caught in time. Your feedback is being shared with our leadership and pharmacy teams so we can review your experience.
If you are open to it, we would appreciate the chance to speak with you directly to better understand the details of your visit and help address any remaining concerns. You’re welcome to call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team or email us at [email protected] with your contact information and a summary of your experience. We sincerely hope your dog continues to make progress, and we remain here to support you both in any way we can.
Fantastic experience: We had a possible emergency with a feline exposure to toxic chemicals. I called and was able to briefly consult with the veterinarian (via a staff person) for no charge. The information and advice was brief, specific, and very helpful in the moment. The staff certainly could have given me the 'brush off' or tried to charge for the consultation (which both animal poison control hotlines tried to do), but they were wonderful and helped us for no charge! I want to highly recommend this clinic, as this experience suggests they are both professional and also 'have a heart.' Thanks MEDVET!
Thank you for sharing this experience. We’re glad our team could provide timely, clear guidance during a potentially frightening situation and support you without adding unnecessary stress. Helping pet families make informed decisions in critical moments is something we care deeply about, and we truly appreciate your recommendation and kind words.
Fantastic experience: New Year’s Day pet emergency and this clinic was amazing to help. So grateful they were open. First time there and we were so impressed with each staff member. Compassionate & professional.
Amanda, thank you for your kind words. We’re glad our team could be there for you and your pet on New Year’s Day and provide compassionate, professional care during an emergency.
Fantastic experience: We had a great experience at Med Vet. The entire staff was incredibly kind and compassionate during a stressful situation. A special shoutout to Josh, who was so sweet and truly made the experience 100% better with his care and reassurance. We really appreciated how thoroughly they monitored our dog when the side of his face was swollen. It gave us a lot of peace of mind knowing he was being well cared for. Sometimes the wait times can be long, but the level of care and kindness we received made it worth it. We are very grateful for the team at Med Vet.
Abigail, thank you for your kind feedback. We’re glad you appreciated the attentive monitoring, clear communication, and compassionate support our team provides during stressful situations, and we truly value the trust you placed in us while caring for your beloved companion.
Fantastic experience: They did a great job with taking care of my cat. They were understanding and let me know of all the options I could go with treating my cat. I will definitely go back. The staff were all very nice.
Darren, thank you for taking the time to share this. We’re glad you appreciated the clear communication around treatment options and the care provided for your beloved cat, and we value your trust and recommendation.
Fantastic experience: MedVet has been wonderful. They have now taken care of all 3 of my dogs with cancer. Sally unfortunately passed but Noah is doing great now. No signs of melanoma. Connor is now undergoing chemo for his lymphoma cancer. They are very good at communicating and making sure your pet feels love and at ease. All the staff is wonderful. I would highly recommend them for all emergency and cancer needs for your pet.
Michael, thank you for sharing such a meaningful and heartfelt review. We’re honored to have cared for your beloved dogs through each stage of their journeys and are deeply sorry for the loss of Sally. We’re grateful to hear that Noah is doing well and that Connor feels supported as he continues treatment, and we appreciate you recognizing our team’s communication and commitment to helping pets feel safe, loved, and at ease during such challenging times. Thank you for trusting us with their care and for your recommendation.
Fantastic experience: Unfortunately today we had to say goodbye to our dog Lucy unexpectedly. I really appreciate the honesty and how sympathetic Dr Matthew was and with making this hole process easier then it was. I would highly recommend MedVet SLC in a heart beat. The staff alone was very welcoming.
We are so very sorry for the unexpected loss of your beloved Lucy. Thank you for trusting our team during such a heartbreaking moment and for sharing your appreciation for the honesty, compassion, and support you received. It means a great deal to know you felt welcomed and cared for during such a difficult goodbye. Please know our thoughts remain with you and your family.
Fantastic experience: We transferred our cat, Archie, to MedVet due to kidney problems. This facility was absolutely incredible and took amazing care of my baby. The entire staff was so loving and gentle to our sweet boy, but the real star here was Carissa. She loved our boy as if he were her own and ensured us that they would do everything in their power to make sure he got better. To the entire staff (especially you, Carissa), thank you thank you THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for everything you have done. ❤️
Mailee, thank you for trusting us with Archie’s care and for sharing such heartfelt words. It means so much to hear how supported you felt and how deeply cared for Archie was during his time with us. Our team is grateful to have been part of his journey and truly appreciates your trust.
Positive experience: We greatly appreciate knowing that SLC has a medical facility for our animals that require medical specialists . Our cat needed a partial lung removed and they had a surgeon who specialized in this procedure. They have specialists for each field whether it’s cardiac, pulmonary, etc. They follow your pet up with the needed expertise. The flip side is the cost, but the best doesn’t come cheap. Our kitty needed to be in an oxygen chamber for several days afterwards . In order to get the best, it comes with a price.. I wish I had used them when a previous cat ⬛ had a surgery at BP . MEDVET is better than your vet and better than other emergency animal hospitals . If you need the best, this is it.
Bonney, thank you for sharing your experience and your trust in our specialty teams. We’re glad your kitty had access to the advanced surgical care and follow-up she needed, and we truly appreciate your thoughtful reflection on the level of expertise involved.
Fantastic experience: I am so thankful for MedVet. I still have my Tiny Dog of Doom. They saved his life this last weekend I'm thankful that he is still around to get his blueberries
Laura, we’re so glad your Tiny Dog of Doom is home, safe, and enjoying his blueberries again. Saving his life and getting him back to his happy self is exactly why our team does what they do—thank you for sharing this joyful update.
Positive experience: Update 12/19/25: I had asked Carissa to send medical records to my primary vet when my kitty was discharged, however that was not done. I had to call again while I was at my vet follow up appointment to have them sent. The amount of money I paid I would expect better attention and care. Original Review: My 17 year old kitty got really sick with pneumonia. There was concern that my kitty would not make the 20 min trip from our primary vet to MedVet. MedVet worked with my primary vet to arrange transportation in one of their vehicles so that my kitty could have the continuous oxygen that she so desperately needed. My kitty spent 2 days in the hospital and has made tremendous progress. They saved my kitties life and for that I am forever grateful. The doctor was very knowledgeable and provided me with daily updates. He explained everything they were doing and what my options were very clearly. The only suggestion I have for improving would be to try to show a little more compassion. It may have just been my personal experience but I got the feeling that money was more important than caring for my pet. It was almost as if the staff were desensitized from feeling anything at all because they encounter really sick and injured pets every day. Also, this might go without saying, but it is really expensive and they expect the estimate to be paid in full up front. They did indicate they would refund me if it didn’t take the entire 3k to care for her though. It was a lot of money to come up with right before Christmas but I’m happy to have my kitty with our family and feeling better.
TL, thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for trusting our team with your kitty’s care during such a critical situation. We’re grateful we could work closely with your family veterinarian to ensure safe transport and continuous oxygen support, and we’re so glad to hear your kitty has made such encouraging progress. Our team is committed to clear communication, collaboration, and always prioritizing our patients, and we appreciate your feedback as we continue striving to support families with compassion during stressful moments. If you would ever like to talk further, we welcome the opportunity to listen and support you.
Negative experience: My dog togo, got his paw ran over by a car. I brought him in and they checked him out. I am unemployed for a bit, I didn't have money to pay. Their compassion was non existent. They said if you couldn't pay, they could treat him. They were going to give him to me with a broken leg, so I could go somewhere else. If I could give them an negative number I would.
Scott, we want to address your comments directly and clearly. MedVet Salt Lake City is an emergency and specialty hospital, and our doctors and team work tirelessly around the clock to care for injured and critically ill companions, including those facing traumatic injuries like the one Togo experienced. Providing emergency and life-saving care requires advanced diagnostics, continuous monitoring, specialized equipment, and a highly trained medical team available 24/7, and part of delivering that level of care responsibly is being fully transparent with families about treatment plans and the associated financial responsibility so informed decisions can be made. We understand that families can face real financial hardship, especially during unexpected emergencies, which is why options such as third-party financing through CareCredit are available and discussed when appropriate. We’re sorry that this necessary transparency came across as uncompassionate, as that does not reflect our team in any way; our professionals enter the veterinary profession out of a profound love for companion animals and a commitment to helping them when they need it most. It is disheartening to see our care characterized as careless, particularly when our focus is always on the pet’s safety, comfort, and medical needs. Payment at the time of service is required to ensure we can continue providing this level of emergency and specialty care to the community. We sincerely hope Togo received the care he needed and is on the road to recovery, and if you would like to better understand the care options discussed or what it takes to operate a 24/7 emergency hospital, we encourage you to call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team or email [email protected] so we can provide clarity and answer your questions directly.
Fantastic experience: Took good care of my pet, detailed in explaining what was wrong and options. Although care was expensive I was never “surprised” by a bill as they were very transparent in pricing which I appreciate.
Jessica, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad our team provided clear explanations, transparent communication, and thoughtful care so you could make informed decisions without surprises. We truly appreciate your trust.
Fantastic experience: We do not live near SLC so they arranged a tele health appointment call where we were contacted by a Vet that went over all the options and ideas about our dog. The call was on time and He was Extremely Helpful, patient, answered all our questions.
Bob, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad our team could connect with you through a telehealth appointment and provide clear, timely guidance for your dog’s care. Making sure families feel informed and supported—even from a distance—is very important to us, and we’re happy to hear the conversation was helpful.
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience bringing my cat, Penny, who had stopped eating, to MedVet for emergency care. Every staff member I interacted with, from the receptionist to the doctor, was knowledgeable, kind, efficient, and professional. Communication was clear and thorough. As is often the case with cats, no certain diagnosis was forthcoming, but I was sent home with the right medications to provide supportive care and Penny has steadily improved. I'm grateful that this facility exists and I will not hesitate to take one of my cats there again if there is a crisis.
Sheryl, thank you for this thoughtful review. We’re grateful to hear that Penny was treated with compassion and that the medications helped her begin to improve. Emergencies can be overwhelming, especially with cats, and we’re glad our team helped you feel informed and supported. We’re wishing sweet Penny continued progress and comfort.
Fantastic experience: Our puppy was sick and lethargic. We took him in and the wait time was very minimal. He was taken care of quickly and efficiently. He is feeling much better now!
Thank you, Robyn. We’re so glad to hear your puppy was cared for quickly and is now feeling much better. We appreciate you sharing your experience and trusting our team during a worrying moment.
Fantastic experience: Dr.Matthew D. Harjes guided my partner and I through the hardest decision we have ever had to make. He treated us with unbelievable kindness, compassion, and respect. Without question this is someone who deeply values the well being of all animals. I would recommend him to anyone. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
Theo, thank you for taking the time to share this heartfelt review. We’re deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved companion, and we’re grateful Dr. Harjes could walk alongside you through such a painful decision with compassion and clarity. Your trust means so much to us, and we’re holding your family in our thoughts.
Fantastic experience: The staff are wonderful the most caring people. I had to rush my dog in on Friday and it turned out I had to put him down because of cancer throughout. There is a grieving room that they put you in to spend all the time that you need with your pet before putting them down. I’ve never been treated with such kindness at such a difficult time.
Joanna, we’re so sorry for the loss of your beloved companion and grateful you felt supported during such a heartbreaking moment. Our team understands how important it is to have time, space, and compassion when saying goodbye, and it means so much to know you were treated with kindness throughout your visit. Thank you for trusting us with your cherished pet’s care.
Fantastic experience: Staff at MedVet are talented and caring and did everything my dog needed to get her gastroenteritis diagnosed and addressed. I thought the porkhide twists were fine to give her but quickly learned that chunks of the twist had damaged the lining of her stomach and she was not faring well. After ruling out ingestion of a toy squeaker through an ultrasound or any other foreign object I remembered I had given her the porkhide days before and she had gulped it down. All intake staff, doctor assistants, and doctors efficiently made my dog their concern and my gratitude to them all is huge! When I think of all the traumas they must see around the clock, the anxious people they must navigate, and the boneheaded mistakes we make that lead to emergency needs, I can call them nothing but heroes. I wouldn’t hesitate to take my animals to MedVet if I have emergencies in the future.
Lyn, thank you for sharing your story. We’re grateful for your kind recognition of our team’s dedication and responsiveness. It’s wonderful to hear your beloved dog is doing better, and we’re honored to have been there for you both during such a stressful moment.
Fantastic experience: MedVet has been reliable and trustworthy while we have had to handle many issues with on of our dogs for the past few years. Their staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and Cedar always enjoys going there even in the toughest of times. They have reasonable prices and are always up front about costs even for a specialty/ER vet. I highly recommend both Dr. Lee’s; Dr. Sylvia Lee for surgery and Dr. Liz Lee for internal medicine. Cedar has had surgery for double knee surgery and Sylvia did an amazing job fixing him up and aftercare as well. Liz has been amazing in helping Cedar through his myriad of issues such as IMPA and GI issues. Since Cedar is a special case, MedVet is his go to vet to help with his conditions.
Dillon, thank you for sharing Cedar’s journey. Supporting families through long-term medical challenges is something our team takes to heart, and we’re grateful he continues to receive help and healing. We appreciate your trust through each step.
Fantastic experience: I wish I could've gotten every single person's name in this facility so I could thank each and every one of them for the care and compassion they showed me and Pazuzu. From panicked phone call to intake to consultation to discharge, everyone exhibited amazing bedside manner that calmed me down and validated my anxiety when I didn't know if there was something terrible happening to my cat. I'm so grateful I discovered this facility under relatively easy circumstances so I can immediately turn to you all if (heaven forbid) I need help again.
Grace, thank you so much for sharing this. We’re glad our team was able to support both you and Pazuzu from the first call through discharge.
Our doctors and care team work hard to provide calm, clear guidance in those moments when something feels scary, and it means a lot to know you felt reassured throughout your visit.
We’re grateful for your trust and are always here if you ever need us again.
Fantastic experience: Med vet was so helpful with our Nova pup! They were extremely transparent with the cost and the treatment they were going to give our pup! I definitely recommend
Josie, thank you for recommending us. We’re glad you felt informed about your pup’s treatment plan and appreciated the transparency throughout your visit. We’re grateful you trusted our team with Nova’s care.
Fantastic experience: We were referred to medvet from our regular veterinarian due to the critical nature of one of our dogs that needed aid ASAP. Medvet accommodated and got our girl in fast and treated her for two nights. They ran multiple tests and were very thorough in their explanations of said tests and the results. Unfortunately, those tests came back with bad news and ultimately lead us to make that hard decision to end her suffering. They were very comforting and understanding throughout this hard time. They gave us all the time we needed. Additionally a different dog of our fell ill at the same time and they treated her promptly and have been following up via text answering any questions we have as she recovers. They helped make a very difficult situation a little less stressful.
Spencer, we are truly sorry for the heartbreaking loss of your beloved companion. Our team cares deeply for the families who come through our doors, and we’re grateful to know you felt supported through such a difficult experience. We’re also glad we could be here to help your other dog begin recovering. Please know we’re holding your family in our thoughts and are here if you ever need us.
Fantastic experience: My dog ate a big piece of a bone that was stuck in his stomach. All of the staff here were so understanding and had amazing hospitality. They made sure we knew what was going on and completed the procedure safely and made our little baby all better. I can’t recommend Dr. Max enough
Izzy, thank you for taking the time to share this. We know how frightening it is when a beloved companion requires emergency care, and we’re grateful that you felt informed, supported, and cared for throughout the entire process. We’re so happy your dog is doing well—thank you for trusting Dr. Max and our team.
Fantastic experience: My 10 year old lab mix was diagnosed with lymphoma. I was referred to MedVet by my regular vet. They were able to get my boy in the next day for his first treatment. They communicated extensively from the start and made it sure we understood what to expect and how to care for him. I would recommend Dr. Wright and the team at MedVet
Shelley, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re glad we could begin treatment quickly and provide clear communication during such a difficult diagnosis. We appreciate your trust in Dr. Wright and our team, and we’re here for you every step of the way.
Negative experience: I’m sure this place has been good for some, but for us it was horrible. We were referred there by another veterinarian because they have more equipment. Besides the fact that they have to have all the money up front (pay us first for what we think it might cost for your visit), Dr. Putman is very arrogant and full of himself. He had ZERO care and “bedside manner“ for our sweet little sick dog and is only in it for the money. All he tried to do was sell us on cancer treatments (like a car salesman) and said “she won’t last the weekend” which shocked us. He wouldn’t even listen to our thoughts and comments. He also said that if it was too expensive, he could put her down for us. We refused and went another direction based on what the referring doctor told us. Two days later our dog was right back to her old self again. You know why? IT WASN’T CANCER! It saddens me to think of how many times this type of thing has happened and hasn’t turned out well for other animals and owners. To the “owner” that might reply, what’s done is done and nothing you type can change that. I’m not the only one that has mentioned this doctor’s name in these reviews.
Harold, we’re truly sorry for how overwhelming this experience felt for you and your beloved companion. We understand how stressful urgent medical situations can be, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns.
The doctor you referenced is a highly trained veterinary professional who sees patients based on their clinical presentation, medical history, and the diagnostics approved during their visit. As with any emergency or specialty hospital, our team can only provide medical recommendations based on the information available at the time. Without additional diagnostics, it is not always possible to rule out all potential conditions, and our doctors discuss a range of possibilities to help families make informed decisions.
We also want to reassure you — our team would never recommend euthanasia unless a pet appears to be at risk of significant suffering without further medical care. These discussions are always handled with compassion and are never made lightly. Every recommendation is guided by a deep commitment to the wellbeing of each patient.
Because the concerns you’ve raised are important to us, we encourage you to reach out so we can review your pet’s visit in detail and ensure you have full clarity around the care provided. You’re welcome to call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or you may email your review, contact information, and any additional information to [email protected], and we will make sure it is directed to the appropriate team.
We remain committed to supporting you and your cherished companion in every way we can.
Fantastic experience: Took our dog in to get checked late at night and they were very helpful and friendly. My dog isn’t the greatest with strangers and they did amazing with making him feel comfortable and safe. Gave multiple options for treatment as well.
Edward, thank you for sharing this. We’re so glad your dog felt safe with our team and that you were given options that felt right for his care. We appreciate the trust you placed in us.
Negative experience: I am writing this because I am beyond angry and deeply disturbed by the way your hospital handled my dog’s case. What happened was not just “unfortunate”it was unacceptable, unprofessional, and inhumane. Our dog came to your hospital with a ruptured bladder. You performed surgery, sent him home, and within two days the wound failed to stay closed, forcing us to return. You put him under anesthesia again and re-sutured him. Shortly after that, he still couldn’t urinate, so we had to bring him back yet again. You inserted a catheter, charged us repeatedly, and in total we paid $18,000 and yet you still failed to treat him successfully. In the end, our dog continued to suffer and we were forced to make the heartbreaking decision to put him down. But the worst momentthe moment that made us lose all trust in your facilitywas this: When our dog was in extreme pain, barely able to stand, a nurse grabbed him harshly and dragged him inside as if he were an object, not a living being. We were completely shocked, horrified, and heartbroken. No animal should ever be handled like that, especially in that condition. We entrusted you with our dog’s life. Instead, we witnessed sloppy care, repeated failures, and outright disrespect toward an animal in agony.
Lucy, we are truly sorry for the depth of pain and loss you’ve experienced. Losing a beloved companion after such an intense medical journey is heartbreaking, and we understand how overwhelming and emotional these situations can be. Our team is committed to compassionate handling, clear communication, and specialty-level medical care, and we take concerns about how a patient was treated very seriously. While complex conditions like bladder rupture can require multiple interventions and sometimes have outcomes no one hopes for, every recommendation we make is focused solely on a patient’s wellbeing, and care is never performed without client understanding and approval. We would appreciate the opportunity to review your dog’s experience in detail, address your concerns directly, and offer clarity and support. If you’re open to speaking with us, please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team or email [email protected] with your contact information. We truly care about the pets and families who come to us, and we want to support you in any way we can.
Fantastic experience: I've had to come to your facility twice and both times your staff has been very courteous and thoughtful with my pet emergencies. They got my babies back quickly and were very professional and explained everything and gave me options. I appreciate all you do and especially being open and available for our fur babies no matter the time of day/night. ❤️
Kerri, thank you for sharing such a kind review. We’re so glad to hear you felt supported with thoughtful communication, clear explanations, and attentive care during both visits. It means a lot to know your companions were helped quickly and that you felt reassured throughout each emergency. We appreciate you trusting our team with your beloved pets.
Fantastic experience: I wanted to take a moment to thank your entire team from the bottom of our hearts. We recently lost our beloved pet of 20 years and were faced with an incredibly difficult decision while we were out of town. In the midst of our grief and uncertainty, we didn’t know where to turn. Your team was truly amazing. You gave us space, treated both us and our pet with such dignity and compassion, and helped guide us through one of the hardest moments we’ve ever faced. We are deeply grateful. You made an unbearable situation a little easier, and we cannot thank you enough. We left part of our heart in Utah. Love always from Texas
Lorena, thank you for this incredibly touching message. We are truly sorry for the loss of your beloved pet and so grateful you turned to us in such a tender moment. It’s an honor to have supported you with dignity, compassion, and guidance. Your words deeply moved our team, and we send our love and thoughts to you in Texas as you remember your precious companion.
Negative experience: If you pay $4000 for pet care, that should include actually talking to a vet about their diagnosis prior yo taking your sick dog home..right? Well, despite a nebulous “advanced cancer” diagnosis reported by the medvet oncologist…we never saw a vet when we came to pick him up after testing. Just given a bunch of useless pills and discharge note of “he should return to normal after anesthesia”. Um..we brought him in because an 11 month old puppy shouldn’t refuse to eat and be lethargic for days. And now we are left with “just wait till Monday for the oncology results” from the front desk. Still no actual consultation with a vet, despite repeated calls and requests. Let alone the front desk acting clueless each time we call. Just an awful experience on an awful day..with no resolution to a very sick dog with a potential terminal illness!
Jason, we’re truly sorry to hear how stressful and upsetting this experience was for you and your beloved pup. We understand how important it is to feel heard and supported during such a difficult and uncertain time.
Our goal is always to communicate clearly and compassionately with pet families, especially when navigating serious medical concerns like a potential cancer diagnosis. While we strive to connect clients directly with our doctors whenever possible, there are moments when test results are still pending or a full consultation needs to be scheduled separately for a complete treatment discussion. That said, it’s never our intention for you to feel confused or dismissed, and we regret that this was your experience.
If you’re open to it, we’d appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly to clarify any remaining questions and ensure your concerns are addressed. You’re welcome to call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email us at [email protected] with your contact information and this review, and we’ll make sure it reaches the appropriate team. We want to support you and your beloved pup as best we can.
Positive experience: 6+ stars for Dr. Max and zero stars for the 2 employees we dealt with in the exam room before and another employee after the visit to check us out. The one who took us back was outright rude. Maybe she has an issue with me, but she was even so rude to my friend who was with me. He’s the nicest guy, but he was surprised the way she treated him and me. Just a rude and impatient lady.
Thanks, Kent. We're glad to know Dr. Max made a great impression and that you were pleased with the medical care your pet received. We also appreciate your feedback regarding your interactions with our team. We strive to treat every client with respect and courtesy, and we’ve shared your comments with our leadership to ensure we continue supporting that commitment. If you’d like to discuss your visit further, we welcome you to reach out directly.
Fantastic experience: We have visited MedVet twice and both times we were given the best care and consideration. The staff is so generous and kind and treated our little one as if she was their own. So much so that they called both times to see how our Bowie was healing. And called back when we reached out with concerns and questions. The final bill in both cases was very reasonable. Which is rare in this industry. I would highly recommend MedVet for your pet emergencies.
Thank you, Andrea, for your heartfelt review and kind words about our team. We’re honored to care for Bowie and thrilled to hear that you’ve felt supported and respected during each visit. Following up and being available for questions is an important part of our care, and we’re so glad you experienced that firsthand. We truly appreciate your recommendation and continued trust in us.
Fantastic experience: We have been to MedVet a dozen times with all our pets over the years and we have the utmost trust in their staff. They have patched up our fur babies and helped us through painful partings. Our lives are better because we know they are there for us.
Deni, we’re so grateful for your trust and kind words. It’s an honor to be here for your pets through both healing and hard goodbyes. Thank you for allowing us to be part of their lives and yours.
Fantastic experience: I have been to MedVet for a few different pets. They are always kind, knowledgeable, and I can tell that they care about my fur babes. They have helped triage emergencies and were my go-to clinic for long term heart care for my senior pup. I trust them to help get my fur babes back on track!
Thank you, Sierra. We’re honored to have earned your trust for both emergency visits and long-term care. Our team is truly dedicated to helping pets feel better and supporting their families every step of the way. We appreciate you choosing us for your beloved companions.
Negative experience: The receptionist was completely uncaring and refused to try to help me when I took my dog in with an abscess on her throat. I was denied care credit and other pet insurance and she didn't even care to try to help my baby. They wouldn't do anything without 205 down and won't set up a payment plan. I will never take an animal to med-vet again
Barb, we’re truly sorry to hear how upsetting your experience was and how helpless you felt while trying to get care for your dog. We understand how heartbreaking it is to have a beloved companion in need and feel there are barriers to getting help. Please know our team genuinely cares for every patient and pet parent who walks through our doors.
As an emergency and specialty hospital, we are equipped to provide advanced diagnostics, around-the-clock critical care, and complex procedures that may not be available at general practices. This often means our care involves higher upfront costs, and while we do our best to provide financial options such as CareCredit, we recognize this still may not meet every family's needs.
If we’re unable to move forward with care, we always aim to offer guidance or referrals to veterinary clinics that may be better suited to your situation—especially if a general practice could provide support at a lower cost. Please know it is never our intent to turn anyone away, and we are committed to treating every client with compassion and respect.
If you’d like to speak further about your visit, please call the hospital and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team. We’d welcome the opportunity to listen.
Negative experience: I brought my very sick dog in for an emergency visit when our primary vet was closed. After running several tests, the Vet told us they didn’t find anything and that we needed an ultrasound. They couldn’t do the ultrasound (even though it’s an ER, apparently some services are only offered Monday through Friday), couldn't schedule the ultrasound (they said call back on Monday), and when we did call, they were booked out over 3 weeks. We were sent home with the same very sick dog, no diagnosis, and no medications or advice at all. We went to our primary vet the next day hoping for some kind of referral for a faster ultrasound. They took one look at the test results that MedVet had sent over from their own tests, and diagnosed him immediately with an obvious infection. How an actual Veterinarian could have looked at his results and said “inconclusive” is mind boggling. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the facility was clean, they got us into a private room very quickly, and they gave a transparent pricing consult before doing any testing. Otherwise, make the drive to a different ER. Not worth it at all.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Catherine. We’re truly sorry to hear how difficult and frustrating this situation was for you and your dog. While we’re glad to know you appreciated the cleanliness of the facility, prompt rooming, and our transparent pricing consult, we also understand how upsetting it must have been to leave without a clear diagnosis. Our emergency doctors do their best to provide answers and next steps based on the diagnostics available, and we regret that our team was unable to perform the ultrasound needed at that time. We’d appreciate the opportunity to review your visit further and connect directly. You can do this by either calling us and asking to speak with a member of our leadership team, or by emailing your review, contact information, and any additional details to [email protected]. Please know we remain committed to supporting you and your beloved companion and truly wish you both comfort and healing.
Fantastic experience: We had to take our sweet Lily to be put down due to cancer and her going down hill very very quickly within 24 hours. We pulled up to the Medvet at 9:30 am. The receptionist was so wonderful and nice very considerate and only asked the needed questions as to get her back faster. We pulled around the emergency side where they brought out a gurney and rushed her back to place the catheter, it was all very fast and our whole family was allowed back into to cozy room they have for saying goodbye to your sweet pet pet they were so kind and gracious I will be bringing my other dogs here for service. They were so wonderful during so a horrible time.
Alexis, we are so sorry for the heartbreaking loss of your beloved Lily. Saying goodbye is never easy, and we’re honored to have supported your family during such an emotional moment. We’re grateful that our team could provide comfort, speed, and compassion when it mattered most. Please know we remain here for you should you need anything during this difficult time.

Eugene Raymond
Eugene, thank you for sharing Honery Tomcat’s journey with such creativity and heart. We’re honored to have helped restore his health and his kingdom. Your words mean the world to our team, and we’re so glad he’s back on dawn patrol.
Fantastic experience: We unfortunately had to say goodbye to our cat here after bringing her to the emergency. While it was an incredibly heart-wrenching situation, we’re glad we experienced it with MedVet. Dr. Hileman was very straightforward and clear in her communication but remained sensitive to what was happening. Geoff, our pet social worker that night also made sure things went smoothly while allowing us the time and space to grieve properly. Other staff members were also very helpful. We appreciated that they made sure that decisions we made are reasonably and not judged. It was difficult but they certainly have made it easier for us. Thank you so much ♥️
Thu, thank you for sharing your heartfelt experience with us. We are deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved cat and honored to have been there for you during such a heartbreaking time. Saying goodbye is never easy, and it means so much to know that our team was able to provide compassionate support, clarity, and space to grieve. We remain committed to supporting you and your family through this difficult time. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can be here for you in any way.
Fantastic experience: Dr Rosenbaum was very professional and able to explain to me what needed to take place when my cat ate toxic dog medicine. It is never a good day when you have to visit the ER vet, but this one has coffee (bless them), kind staff, and competent vets. I’ve been here twice with different pets and was pleased both times.
Jessica, we truly appreciate your thoughtful review and are so glad we could provide support during such a scary situation. From clear communication to a comforting environment, we’re honored to have earned your trust. Thank you for bringing your pets to us.
Fantastic experience: There was never a concern that my beloved doggie was not getting the best possible care and treatment. Throughout the whole ordeal of emergency surgery and critical care, I was well informed. I felt that everyone I came into contact with was knowledgeable and compassionate. It didn't matter how many calls I made for updates, they were patient and happy to reassure me that they were doing all they could for Jack's comfort, care and recovery. This is such a great place! Thank you all.
Thank you, Connie. We’re so sorry Jack needed emergency surgery but grateful our team could support you both with compassion and clear communication throughout. We’re honored to have helped in his recovery.
Fantastic experience: I can’t thank MedVet enough for the care they gave my dog. The staff kept me informed every step of the way and made sure he was comfortable and happy. Dr. Hillary Wright went above and beyond—calling me every morning and night to update me on Mr. Milo, and even noting his toy lamb at night, which meant so much to me. When I had to make the heartbreaking decision to put him down, everyone was kind, understanding, and supportive, which helped more than I can say. The Rainbow Room was such a thoughtful touch and made the experience a little gentler. I’m so grateful to the entire team for their compassion and care.
Margaret, thank you for your heartfelt review. We are truly sorry for the loss of your beloved Mr. Milo. It means so much to know that our team’s compassion, communication, and the comfort room brought even a small measure of comfort during such a difficult time. Your kind words about Dr. Wright and our team deeply touch us, and we are honored to have been there for your family in those precious moments.
Negative experience: I came in and was referred from a friend. I was told they work with you if need be. I spoke to a few people during the visit and that time between all of them was maybe 15-20 mins. When someone came back in to talk about treatment plan the visit was already up to $781.00. My pet hadn’t been treated yet. How I was seen for maybe 20 mins between 3 people and my visit was close to a grand is insane. I had two assistants telling me two separate things and then after one told me the doctor would come talk to me and see what I could manage another one came in and checked me out. Which made no sense. So I left and found a different place who wasn’t going to charge that much for 20 mins.
Raven, we’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We understand how frustrating it can be when the cost of care feels unclear or higher than anticipated. Similar to human emergency and specialty medicine, our hospitals offer advanced diagnostics and care provided by a highly trained team—often with years of additional training beyond veterinary school. With these services, the costs can vary, but we do not proceed with any treatment unless we receive client approval. We also strive to communicate thoroughly and ensure our clients feel confident in their pet’s care plan. We're sorry if there was any miscommunication or if the process felt rushed or unclear. If you’d be open to a conversation, please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team or email [email protected] with your contact information and details. We remain committed to regaining your trust and hope your pet is doing well.
Fantastic experience: My 7 month old Dauschund was run over. It broke his pelvic and he had a large hernia. We brought him in and the staff was amazing! They never once led us to believe it would be best to put him down. He had surgery and now 3 months later he is a normal puppy as if nothing ever happened. The staff was always great keeping us informed and letting us go back and see him. They were always there when we had questions once we brought him home. They weren’t near as expensive as I had anticipated. We walked out of there paying much less than they had quoted us. I am very happy with my total experience with them and I would bring any of my pets there if needed! Thank you to all the staff at MedVet! Because of you I still have my little Beep Beep!
Latosha, we’re truly honored to have cared for your puppy after such a traumatic event. It brings us so much joy to hear he’s back to being his playful self. Thank you for your thoughtful words and for trusting our team to help Beep Beep heal!
Fantastic experience: Mr. Ollie somehow managed to find a half eaten corn on the cob and decided to make it a snack. One intestinal surgery later he is home safely and without a half eaten corn on the cob. He could not have been in better hands as he was with Dr. Rosenbaum. He literally saved Ollie’s life, a million thanks to the staff and the doctors who took such great care of Ollie.
Victoria, thank you so much for sharing Mr. Ollie’s story. We’re thrilled he’s back home safe and doing well after such a scary situation. It’s our honor to provide life-saving care and compassionate support, and we’re grateful you felt that every step of the way.
Fantastic experience: Everyone was so nice. The Doctor was caring and explained everything to us in detail. She gave us options for the best care fit for us and our dog. I highly recommend SLC MedVet!!
Thank you, Christine, for your kind recommendation. We’re so glad our team was able to walk you through all the options for your dog’s care and provide clear, compassionate support along the way. It means a lot to know you felt heard and cared for during your visit.
Fantastic experience: MedVet is truly one of a kind experience. Each time we've had to bring our pup in (for the oncology dept), they treated him is well! They also take the time to go over treatment plans and options that work best for our family and never make us feel silly for not knowing something. I love that they take the time to explain medications and staging options so we know what is happening with our fury friend. This facility has been a such a blessing, we want to thank them for ALL that they do. Thank you MedVet staff for always making Bacchus feel so loved!
Thank you for your wonderful feedback, Erin. We’re honored to care for sweet Bacchus and are grateful for your trust in our oncology team. It means so much to hear that you feel supported and informed throughout his treatment journey. We’re keeping you both in our hearts.
Fantastic experience: My 4 month old German shepherd puppy became seriously ill over night. I took him to a small independent vet who could make a diagnosis with any degree of certainty. They recommended i take my dog to one of the larger vet hospitals and I went to med vet. The intake staff and techs were quick and efficient. The critical care saw my dog within minutes and felt it best to admit my dog for testing, blood work and observation. I was given an estimate for costs of treatment and allowed to see my dog before departing. The crucial care vet spoke with me answered all questions. Everyone I encountered was professional and caring.
Chris, we’re grateful for your trust during such a critical moment for your puppy. It’s wonderful to know that you felt supported, informed, and cared for every step of the way. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
Negative experience: One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I checked in, they texted me an electronic form, and told me it would be a 2-3 hour wait. I submitted the electronic form and waited. At hour 1, I had to take a work call and stopped at the front desk to make sure that would be ok. They assured me it would be. At 3 hours, I asked how much longer it would be, at which point they told me I was supposed to let them know in person I was done filling out the form—that submitting the ELECTRONIC FORM ELECTRONICALLY is insufficient because they are too busy to check. If I wanted to see a vet, it would be another 2-3 hours on top of the 3 hours I’d already been there. Absolutely no apology or effort to get my dog seen sooner but I was encouraged to drive across town during rush hour for an appointment at different location even though I was told when I called in advance that they didn’t take appointments. When I expressed my frustration at their system, they said there are also signs posted around reminding people to check in personally after checking in electronically. 1. I’m sorry that I attempted to keep working during my work day while my dog had a medical issue so yes, I failed to read your posters but assumed I knew what I had to do THE FIRST TIME I CHECKED IN and 2. If you have to post **multiple signs** to effectuate your system, do you think it’s possible that the system is bad because most people assume that filling out your electronic form is meaningful somehow? When I asked why they didn’t seem to notice that I was still sitting there for hours (at this point there were only three other humans in the waiting room), the front desk person said the MedVet just gets too hectic to rely on the electronic forms. As someone who SAT THERE for three hours, I can promise you the Grey’s Anatomy 2-hours special veterinary medicine case of the pregnant dog whose plane crashed onto a nuclear reactor didn’t come in. Do not go here. I wish I hadn’t but my regular vet is closed on Mondays. Wasted half my day, had to make special child care arrangements, and my dog is still untreated. If forced to choose, you’d be better off relying on essential oils and crystals. Your pet will *also* still be ill but at least they’ll smell like lavender.
RuthAnne, thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We’re truly sorry to hear how frustrating this experience was for you and that your dog remained untreated after such a long visit. Our goal is always to ensure that every patient receives timely, compassionate care, and we regret that this process caused additional stress during an already difficult time.
While our team uses electronic forms to begin registration, final check-in at the front desk is an essential step so we can confirm that everything is submitted and your pet is officially in the queue. We understand this can feel confusing, especially when you're focused on caring for your pet or balancing other responsibilities, and we’ll be sure your feedback is reviewed internally to identify where improvements can be made.
We never want a pet family to feel overlooked or unsupported, and we’re sorry that you walked away with that impression. If there is anything else you’d like our leadership team to know, please email [email protected] with your contact information and the details of your visit. We’ll make sure it’s directed to the appropriate parties. We truly hope your dog is now receiving the care they need and is feeling better soon.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely impressed with this place. I've had to bring both my cat and my dog in for unrelated injuries and they have treated us so well both times. Expect a wait if your pet is stable (which is a good thing!). Very professional, kind, and reasonably priced
Heather, thank you so much for sharing your experience with both of your pets. We’re honored by your trust and glad to hear our team cared for you with professionalism and kindness during both visits. We hope your cat and dog are healing well and back to their usual selves soon!
Fantastic experience: I’ve brought my cat here multiple times, from when he was a kitten to now, and every visit has been handled with such care. The staff is always kind, and the doctors are both knowledgeable and compassionate. Since it’s an emergency clinic, there can be a wait for triage. They’re open 24/7, which is incredibly helpful, and I always feel comfortable calling or emailing with any concerns during his treatment. The cost can be slightly higher, but that’s to be expected for quality emergency care. This is my go to clinic for any pet emergency, and I would definitely recommend them!
Stacy, thank you for such a heartfelt review. It means so much to know you’ve trusted us with your cat’s care over the years and that you continue to feel supported by our team. We’re grateful for your understanding during busy times and appreciate your kind words about our doctors and team.
Fantastic experience: We had to bring one of our dogs here for a little emergency tonight and the staff was nothing but amazing and so kind!! I felt like they truly cared about my fur baby and took such great care. They answered all my questions and listened to all my concerns. We will definitely come back here if needed. Just absolutely amazing!!!
Meghan, thank you for your thoughtful words. We’re so glad we could be there for you and your pup during an unexpected emergency and that you felt truly cared for. Our team is passionate about treating pets like family, and it means everything to know that came through in your visit.
Fantastic experience: Good experience. Caring team that took time to understand what was happening with our dog. Offered a plan for day one and then to come back next day to recheck and next step was surgery. Our pug is recovering at home now and doing well. These type of services are expensive; but we would come back if needed.
Dale, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re so glad our team could help your precious Pug through surgery and that he’s recovering well at home. We appreciate your trust in our team to provide the compassionate, expert care your companion deserves.
Negative experience: While they were efficient and did provide excellent care, Dr. Putnam tried to scare me into keeping my cat hospitalized there over the weekend (potentially another $2k) too Monday so they could MAYBE preform a surgery (an additional $3k) that might help for "reoccuring" blockage (this was the first time he had been blocked). Telling him that I would not be able to afford the additional $5,000 resulted in him recommending euthanasia rather than help create a care plan. I can appreciate how difficult it can be working in veterinary health, let alone emergency care, but he approach felt more like strong arming for money than genuine care. The rest of the team was great. The techs were very kind and professional, and Alexa was very helpful in making sure my questions were answered. If it were not for the way the doctor treated me, I would have rated 5 stars. The rest of their team is their saving grace.
George, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad to hear that our team provided kind, professional care and helped answer your questions during such a stressful time. We understand how overwhelming emergency decisions can be, especially when unexpected costs are involved.
To clarify, our doctors are committed to full transparency and always present all appropriate medical options based on the patient’s condition. In rare, life-threatening situations—when treatment cannot be pursued—humane euthanasia may be discussed to prevent unnecessary suffering. These recommendations are never made lightly and are rooted in a deep commitment to patient wellbeing.
We’re sorry if the conversation felt difficult, and we welcome the opportunity to speak further and clarify any medical concerns. Please feel free to call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team or email [email protected]. We’re glad your cat received care and hope they’re continuing to do well.
Fantastic experience: Our Odie had an emergency visit on Thursday. He was having an allergy reaction to something. They were able to give him some medicine and help him get better. Thank you MedVet!! Our Odie is doing much better now.
Thank you, Angelica, for sharing Odie’s story. We’re so glad we could help him feel better quickly and are thrilled to hear he’s doing well now. We appreciate your trust in us to care for your beloved companion during an urgent situation.
Fantastic experience: We had such a positive experience at MedVet, I had to share a review. My pup broke his leg and everyone - from the front desk, the ER techs, surgery techs, to surgery with Dr. Boekhout - was so incredibly kind. The pricing for his surgery was much more reasonable than other places I reached out to. Six weeks later we have a puppy walking and playing normally again. I would highly recommend this place to others and will come back should we ever need them!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Rebecca. We’re glad to hear your pup is recovering well and appreciate your kind words about the entire team. It means a lot to us that you felt cared for throughout the process, and we’re grateful you chose MedVet Salt Lake City to help your pet on the road to healing.
Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with the care and treatment my pup got here. The staff is amazing! Everyone from the front desk to the DRs were kind, knowledgeable and professional. Given the need I will not hesitate to bring my dogs here for treatment.
Robert, thank you for your generous words. We’re honored to know that you found our team kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Your pup’s wellbeing is always our top priority, and we appreciate the trust you placed in us.
Negative experience: I took my dog into this clinic after recommendation from my primary care vet. He had recently been diagnosed with Diabetes and was drastically declining due to a high sodium level, which could only be treated in an emergency setting. Immediately upon bringing him in, the nurse rolled her eyes after I told her my dog had been put on a prophylactic antibiotic for a UTI, stating “not sure why your vet did that but okay”. They took my dog back and examined him. Shortly after, the vet came into our room and explained that he felt our dog had a terminal neurological disease. He explained the multiple tests that would need to take place, possible therapies and multiple scans that needed to be done. My dog would need to be seen by a neurologist and diagnosed, which he was not. I was shocked that he had not mentioned the sodium, which was why we were there. He basically said he disagreed with my primary vet and wasn’t sure why she was concerned. I could immediately tell he was trying to get us to spend thousands of dollars with no real evidence that my dog had this disease. He said “well if you think that’s expensive, taking care of a diabetic dog that large will be extremely expensive”. He told me the prognosis would be poor and that he felt my dog should stay overnight. I asked why he needed to stay after he just told me all his vitals were “stable” and he told me basically for convenience. I refused all care as it came off as a strong money grab and I was very put off at the dismissal off my primary vet’s recommendations. I called my primary vet who was extremely disappointed and shocked at the experience we had had. Sure enough, at another emergency vet he got fluids and SHOCKER! Issue resolved. He is better than ever. After researching the disease he suggested my dog had, the symptoms weren’t EVEN CLOSE to how my dog was presenting. I will NEVER come to this office or recommend them to anyone. The overall attitudes of the staff and arrogance was so bizarre and unprofessional. The whole situation was extremely emotionally exhausting and unnecessary.
Lela, we’re very sorry to hear how distressing this experience was for you, and we’re glad to know your dog is feeling better. Please know that your pet’s wellbeing is always our top priority. Our team of veterinary professionals goes through extensive specialty training and is highly skilled in diagnosing and treating complex medical conditions. The recommendations we make are always based on each patient’s signalment—which includes their species, breed, age, and medical history—to ensure that every pet receives care tailored to their unique needs. We understand that you disagreed with the recommendations made during your visit, and we’re saddened to hear your perception of our team’s professionalism. We work closely with family veterinarians and strive to exceed expectations in every interaction, so your review shows that we fell short for you. It also sounds like there may be some questions or misunderstandings regarding the care and recommendations provided. Since we don’t discuss patient or client information publicly, we encourage you to call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email us at [email protected] with a copy of this review, any additional details you’d like to share, and your best contact information. We’ll ensure your message is directed to the appropriate team for further review. Again, we’re sorry for any misunderstandings and wish your beloved dog continued good health.
Fantastic experience: The overall experience w/ the oncology-EGFR/HER2-Yale vaccine team (Sarah, Alex and Dr. Erin Trageser) has been seamless and ironclad. We never felt like our dog "Lulu" was just another "just take a number" canine w/ oncologic disease. We look forward to our next visit in 3 weeks. Thank you.
David, thank you for your thoughtful review and trust in our oncology team. We’re so glad our team has made you and Lulu feel supported and truly seen throughout her care. We look forward to continuing this journey with you.
Fantastic experience: My dog was attacked by a dog requiring Atlas to get stitches and medication. I’ve never been to MedVet. My daughter recommended them. We walked in the door and were greeted immediately by 2 ladies at the counter. They were so friendly and helpful! Another lady came to get Atlas to check him out. She explained everything and was so sweet with him. Every person we spoke with was so nice and explained everything, and they even reduced the final prince because Atlas didn’t require as much sedation as they anticipated. I’ve never taken any pets to the emergency vet before, and this was the best possible outcome for such a stressful situation. I appreciate Dr. Liechty and the MedVet team so so much for being so kind and willing to accommodate us!
Pam, thank you for your thoughtful review and for entrusting Atlas to our care during such a frightening experience. We’re so glad you felt welcomed and supported every step of the way. Dr. Liechty and the entire MedVet team were honored to care for Atlas, and we hope he continues healing and feeling more like himself each day.
Negative experience: first time I went to med vet was incredible. Although my second visit was horrible. I rushed my cat to med vet because he was pooping blood. First thing that was said to me was “this wasn’t an emergency” with an attitude and proceeded to tell me he wasn’t pooping blood, few days later he’s pooping blood. The vet didn’t bother to do any tests just sent me home with antibiotics and an anti inflammatory. Thankfully I have a trusted vet that listened to me and trusted me when I said my cat is pooping blood. The vet techs and the receptionist were very kind and understanding, just not the actual vet.
Ireland, we’re truly sorry to hear this return visit did not reflect the high level of empathy and attentiveness we aim to provide every pet family. While we’re glad to know our receptionist and veterinary technician team treated you with kindness and understanding, it’s disheartening to learn that your overall experience left you feeling unsupported. Please know we take all concerns seriously and are reviewing your feedback to ensure our team continues to meet the high standards we expect in both communication and care.
Negative experience: Come in at 7pm with my cat that was attacked by a dog. It’s 2:36 am I’ve been sitting in this place for 7 1/2 hours for a dislocated elbow. They are horrible at giving updates. I was told about an hour multiple times. I’ve seen multiple people come and go all night. I will never bring any of my pets here again. I’m pretty sure the staff that was originally here is no longer even here anymore.
Staci, we truly understand how upsetting it can be to experience a long wait, especially during an already stressful situation. Our team triages patients based on urgency to ensure those facing life-threatening conditions are treated first, which can unfortunately lead to extended waits for others. We apologize for any miscommunication and appreciate your feedback, which helps us improve the experience for all pet families.
Fantastic experience: Took my dog to the Internal Medicine Department. I was hugely impressed with the skill and expertise of Dr. Miller and her kind thoughtful assistant. Follow up has been timely and thorough. Highly recommended for difficult cases that need specialized care.
Molly, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad our Internal Medicine team could provide the specialized care and follow-up your dog needed. Your trust in us to help with more complex cases means so much.
