Experiencia fantástica: Update for 2026: Dr. Stone is amazing! He has such a kind and peaceful demeanor that he was even able to update a vaccine for my very anxious dog — something no one else has ever been able to do before. That alone speaks volumes about his patience and skill. Dr.Schell has always been great with my dog Mali and he diagnosed Maverick with a lifelong condition that nobody else was able to diagnose. He was especially kind to me and my dog Fitzgerald before he passed away. There is also a wonderful vet nurse, Dominique, who was incredibly kind. The front desk team (Sofia, Victoria and Anna) are always quick to respond and very helpful, and the practice also has several other lovely veterinarians team members on staff. It’s clear that the team cares about animals and their people. I’m very grateful we found this clinic. 2020: My dog was seriously injured when we were out at Grant Park this past spring. My former vet could not take my dog in because they only had the ability to take on one significant case a day and told me to go elsewhere. Thankfully, I was able to walk to Burnham Park Animal Hospital & they were able to take my dog in quickly. They were very helpful, as well as patient& kind in answering all of my questions about follow up care. I have since switched my dog’s veterinary care to Burnham Park.

Experiencia negativa: the drs and staff are nice however, My cat was seen for MAYBE 10 minutes. & I was told it would cost about $250 for the two vaccines on the phone the night before ..I walked away spending almost $400.

Experiencia positiva: I’ve been going to this place for a few years. They seem to take good care of my dog, but they are ridiculously overpriced. For example, they charged me $34 to clip my dog’s nails. That’s probably twice the price you would expect to pay anywhere else.

Experiencia fantástica: We started taking our cats a couple years ago. I have a total of 3 cats, Coda (black), Peppa (gray) and Puma (Siamese). The doctors and their assistants are all so kind, really patient. The young ladies at the front desk are exceptional too. I believe the prices are reasonable. We’ve had everything from tooth extractions, dermatitis, sprang foot, and routine care.

Experiencia fantástica: My pup babe, Mia, has been a patient of Dr. Phillips since I adopted her in December 2020. Since then, we've had a few scares that have warranted an emergency visit or a most recent surgery to remove a benign lipoma. I can't say enough amazing things about Dr. Phillips and the entire team at Burnham, who are so welcoming, communicative, responsive (thank you, Anna, Sofia and Victoria!) and understand that Mia is my baby -- and take care of her like their own. Dr. Phillips helped me adjust our Paw Plan to accommodate this most recent surgery, Dominique thoroughly went through after care and made sure that we were good before leaving post-surgery, and Dr. Phillips + the team asked how she was doing, both later that day and the next morning. I recommend Burnham to everyone with a fur baby and appreciate the deep care that they give to Mia every time she comes in!

Experiencia fantástica: Called this morning to see if they were able to see my cat for euthanasia he was just unable to bounce back and due to old age of 16 years he wouldn’t have survived surgery. Super fragile and skinny. We decided to see if they had an opening and same day were able to squeeze him in! Thankfully didn’t like to see my cat suffering anymore. I was so thankful for Dr. Stone he was so patient, so careful, so gentle and genuine in his words. I know he crossed that rainbow bridge peacefully. Thank you for making this event less painful and being so careful with my baby! So appreciated! Also think the price was reasonable! And the cremation prices as well! Thank you guys!

Customer service at Burnham is above and beyond which I appreciate having a very busy schedule. Appointment was on time for 2 animals at once (dog and cat). Experiencia fantástica: UPDATE: 10/3/25 I brought Koda in again this year for his annual dental cleaning, and I’m happy to say that my experience with Burnham Park Animal Hospital continues to be outstanding. Their team consistently provides exceptional care and truly treats your pets like their own. Dr. Schell was fantastic per usual, and Sofia at the front desk was incredibly kind and responsive - she kept me updated via email throughout the procedure, which I really appreciated and also asked how Koda was doing this morning after the procedure. The vet techs were also wonderful, handling everything with professionalism and compassion. This hospital is incredibly well-run, and it’s clear they know exactly what they’re doing. I wholeheartedly recommend Burnham Park Animal Hospital to anyone looking for top-notch care for their pets! 5/7/24: My little shih-tzu Koda had to get a dental cleaning and 2 teeth removed. Big shout out to Dr. Schell, he’s the best!

Experiencia negativa: If your pet needs prescriptions, be very wary of Burnham Park. My experience of their vet care has been excellent (annual exam and teeth cleaning). My experience of getting a prescription has been terrible. They have zero cost transparency, poor communication, and staff who are not knowledgeable about pricing even when asked. My dog has been a patient here since January. Every October she gets allergies and has taken Apoquel in the past, which, at her last vet, they were very clear about the price and how filling it worked (either at their office or Chewy), so I am familiar with the price (approx $3 per tablet). I called Burnham Park last week and explained that she hadn't needed Apoquel till now and I wanted to know how prescriptions worked here. The staff on the phone said she'd write a note to the vet - great. I later get a text saying that the medication has been approved by the doctor, you may stop by anytime to pick it up. I was surprised pick up was the only option, but that's fine! I went in this morning to pick it up and the desk staff said it would be $122.95. I was very surprised so I asked if she could explain how many tablets I'm getting - she said 30. I said "hmm, it used to be about $3 a tablet so that would be $90, so is it $4 a pill now?" She didn't answer and just said "It's an expensive medication". (It would have been ideal of her to mention that there is an office fill fee and tell me the tablet price). I said okay, you can charge my card and asked for a receipt. Later today, I reviewed my receipt hoping it would be ITEMIZED. Nope. It did not indicate the tablet price or that there was any fill fee, just one line item of $122.95. I go on google to check the current price of Apoquel. In doing so, I realize Burnham Park has its own online pharmacy on the website, which I was not informed was an option (when I specifically called to ask about how to get a prescription!) and I notice that it is $2.95 a tablet, or $93 dollars for 30 days. In order to understand the discrepancy between $93 and $122.95, I call Burnham and give my info and then ask if she can explain the cost breakdown for that invoice. She cannot. She simply says online prices are different because of promotions and autoship. I explain that the $93 price is the price before autoship, but that yes I understand there will be some price discrepancy. She then says "oh, well there's also a fill fee at the office" (the FIRST time this has been mentioned. She does not mention the amount.). I then ask "Can you please tell me the tablet price for what I paid in office?". She says she doesn't know. I then ask about the fill fee and she says "The fill fee is a flat $15". Okay FINALLY that is approaching an itemization of the invoice. I'm like okay... but I still need the tablet price. If it were to be $93 for the meds and $15 for the fee, then that's $108. How are we getting from $108 to $122.95? There are no taxes on meds. I then ask why, when I called to ask about how to fill a prescription, I was only given one option and thus had to pay $122.95... THIRTY DOLLARS MORE than Burnham's own online pharmacy which they didn't tell me about. I acknowledge that price discrepancies exist (yes, the Burnham tablet price might be higher) and I understand that I also did not do my due diligence in asking if there were other options. However, the issue remains that the office staff is UNABLE to give me an ITEMIZED INVOICE or even verbally tell me a tablet price or disclose the fill fee up front - only when prodded repeatedly on the phone. When you are selling something in a quantity of 30, it is absurd that they do not have a computer system that is taking a tablet price and multiplying it by 30. Based on the utter lack of information the staff could provide, they could just be randomly deciding on the number $122.95. The vet care might be great, but their bookkeeping, transparency, honesty, and desk staff training seems poor.

Experiencia fantástica: We had such a great experience bringing our new puppy in for her first visit! As first-time puppy parents, we had so many questions and some nerves, but the entire team was incredibly attentive and patient. The veterinarian took the time to go over everything in detail, explained what to expect with vaccines and care, and made sure we felt comfortable before leaving. We never felt rushed, and it was clear how much they cared about both our puppy and making sure we were supported as new pet owners. Highly recommend Dr. Olson!

Experiencia fantástica: I've always had a great experience at Burnham Park. My cat has dental disease and the Paw Plan makes it easy to cover expenses for regular cleanings and occasional dental surgery. I never feel like I'm being oversold anything he doesn't need and I get good advice whenever I have questions about my cat's inscrutable behavior. Everyone agrees that he's a very good boy.

Experiencia negativa: We are done with Burnham Park AH hospital and with Dr. Schell. We have been with them for a bit over two years. Recently we brought in our dog due to blood in her urine: Dr. Schell recommended an ultrasound and diagnosed her with possible cancer and possibly only a few months to live. He sent us home with antibiotics and pain medication. Learning of our dog’s diagnosis was shocking. I missed an entire workday because of it. My sister-in-law even flew in to say goodbye. After four weeks, we returned for a follow-up visit. Dr. Schell suggested a cadet bref test. The results were negative. He then changed his approach, thinking it could be bladder stones, and recommended an X-ray. I asked if the X-ray could differentiate between bladder stones and cancer, and he confirmed it. So why did we go through all this trouble instead of doing the X-ray right away? I’m deeply disappointed, feeling betrayed and even scammed. We spent over $1000 on Dr. Schell’s misdiagnosis and inappropriate recommendations. Since that last visit, we’ve switched veterinarians. We’ve found a great clinic just down the street—Partners AH—where our dog underwent surgery and is doing well.

Experiencia fantástica: We have been going to Dr. Olson for 3 years and we RAVE about her. She is so kind, considerate, and listens to all our crazy concerns about our babies. She always sends a follow up email with links to helpful articles related to what we talked about in our visit. She remembers us every single time. The clinic itself is always clean and usually running on time or a little early. My sphynx has had to have a few teeth removed and the whole process was so smooth. We always feel taken care of and anytime we have had to leave our pets with Dr. Olson- we know they're in the best hands. The vet tech team has always been great as well! Experiencia fantástica: This hospital and staff are the best. I have taken our girls(4 dogs) there and I would say that they have received the best care there. The staff truly cares for their patients (they will explain what is the best for them and even show you). We have recently had the worst news for one of our girls and I will say they were there for us. And you can see that they truly care for all animals and how it affects them when your family members are sick or hurt. I will never take our girls anywhere else.

Experiencia positiva: UPDATE: I can no longer give Burnham 5 stars. I have been coming to Burnham since 2020. At some point they dropped the ball on giving my cats leukemia shots and now I have to bring them back in for boosters, which of course is additional time and an additional charge. I am very unhappy about this. I cannot trust them to maintain the correct vaccine regimen for my pets. I have been to Burnham many times. I recommend Burnham based on the excellent service that I have received, the quality of their veterinarians/veterinary staff, the long hours the hospital keeps, the cleanliness of the facility, and the ease of making an appointment. I have not had a bad experience yet. The two vets I see are Dr. Phillips and Dr. Vlahos. They always take their time to address all my questions, are great about following up, provide thorough examinations and recommendations, etc. The hospital is nice and clean. It has actually been newly remodeled. Sometimes you have to wait a bit to see a doctor after you come in but when I had an urgent matter they were able to see me that day so I don't mind being patient if they have to squeeze an appointment in around me due to an emergency. The staff are doing the best they can to accommodate everyone; some grace goes a long way during these trying times. If you want to be seen right away it is probably best to schedule an appointment time that is first thing in the morning. It is very easy to make an appointment on their website and you can schedule an appointment up to about a month out. I have never seen a non-emergency vet clinic that keeps the hours they do; 8am-8pm Mon-Thurs and various hours on the weekend as well! Also, the vets themselves perform teeth cleanings which is something I have also not experienced in the past (my former vet office used a pet dental technician). Of course I would rather have a licensed veterinarian cleaning my pet's teeth! I believe this hospital offers very good value given its location in the city. You get what you pay for.

Experiencia fantástica: Burnham always takes amazing care of all three of my pets (one dog, two cats). We’ve had some serious health scares with two of our babies and the vets and staff at Burnham were with us the whole way. All of the doctors are extremely patient and take the time to explain to you what is going on. I’ve never felt rushed or pressured to order additional exams/perform tests the doctors did not feel were absolutely necessary. This is a great hospital and I know our kiddos are in good hands here.

Experiencia negativa: Liked going to this vet, my puppy loves the doctors here. It’s a bit more expensive than other areas I guess that’s because of location and it’s nothing wrong with that. But my puppy leg got broke and she is scheduled for surgery with a specialist and needed blood work. I called her vet and forwarded what blood work was need. Once I checked out I was shocked why her bill was $538 just for blood work until days later when I looked at her invoice and noticed they charged me an wellness screen of $238 and another $225 for whatever else. I sent over what was needed ONLY bloodwork from her surgeon. My dog (Yorkipoo) will NEVER go back to them they over charge and add extra charges on your visit and it’s BULLSHIT.

Experiencia positiva: I have been bringing my cat and dog to Burnham Animal Hospital for over two years—ever since my dog was born and we moved to this neighborhood. Up until now, every appointment has been a great experience. The veterinarians have always been friendly, patient, and incredibly attentive to my pets. However, today’s visit for my cat’s rabies vaccination was extremely disappointing due to my experience with a new vet, Dr. James. From the start, his attitude and service were concerning. I wasn’t aware that a physical exam was required before administering the rabies vaccine, so I asked him about it. He explained that it was a legal requirement and then immediately proceeded with the examination. However, his handling of my cat was far too rough—he forcefully grabbed my cat’s neck, causing my cat to scream in pain. This was the first time I had ever seen my cat react this way, and it was clear that he was genuinely hurt. Despite this, my cat did not bite or act aggressively, which only reinforced my belief that the reaction was entirely due to the vet’s mishandling. What made the situation worse was Dr. James’s response. Instead of acknowledging his rough handling, he talked back to me and said, “Oh, that’s not friendly at all.” This comment was unnecessary and completely disregarded the fact that my cat’s reaction was due to his own improper technique. I was so shocked by his unprofessionalism that I didn’t even know how to respond in the moment. When it came time for the actual vaccination, he insisted on bringing in an extra nurse as if my cat were aggressive. But when they administered the shot, my cat was perfectly calm and did not resist at all—further proving that the earlier incident was entirely due to the vet’s mishandling. After the appointment, I checked with the front desk and confirmed that I had never had an appointment with this vet before. I immediately requested that Dr. James never be assigned to my pets again and had him added to our blacklist. What frustrated me the most was that he never once apologized for his rough handling or his unprofessional behavior. This experience was deeply disappointing, especially given how wonderful the other veterinarians at this clinic have been. I truly appreciate the care my pets have received here in the past, but this particular vet’s lack of professionalism, rough handling, and complete absence of accountability need to be addressed.

I called to see if I could bring my dog in for her dental procedure even though I was running behind schedule. The staff were so sweet and understanding. Experiencia negativa: The staff was friendly… but the Doctor was very rude to me. His attitude, demeanor, and sense of arrogance were off putting in an already stressful situation. Furthermore, they seemed more concerned about me filling out the paperwork indicating whether or not my cat is considered a member of the family and asked a series of questions to determine how much to charge me and how much effort to really put into my pet’s care. Would not recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: We’re writing this review after multiple visits and interactions with Dr. Evan Schell, and we couldn’t be more grateful for his care. Dr. Schell has been absolutely wonderful with our playful pup. When our dog needed a neuter surgery that turned out to be more complex than usual, Dr. Schell kept us informed every step of the way and performed the procedure without any complications. On a separate occasion , when our dog became seriously ill after eating a succulent plant—vomiting blood and passing liquid blood—Dr. Schell acted quickly. He conducted all the necessary tests, carefully explaining the purpose of each one. His diagnosis was spot-on, and the medications he prescribed worked perfectly. He also provided clear instructions for follow-ups and what to expect during the recovery process. We truly appreciate Dr. Schell’s honesty, dedication, and genuine care for our dog. He went above and beyond, and we are so thankful for his help!

Experiencia positiva: Good doctors, but badly padded bills. This used to be a moderately priced vet, but now they have a new office manager and I assume that's why the prices have shot up. I took in a stray cat in and for the original appt (exam, flea medicine, vaccines, FeLV and FIV texts) the charge was $433.42. A week later, I had him tested for ringworm and intestinal parasites: $321.00. I noticed a bump on his shoulder, at the vaccine injection site, a few weeks later, so I asked if the vet could take a look. Please note that these were vaccinations DONE AT BURNHAM one month earlier. The charge for that 5 min. appt: $105. I really like Dr. Schell, but this place fleeces its clients.

Experiencia negativa: When I rescheduled, my vet was changed. I did not note the change. The vet recommended a full blood panel (nearly $300) and a specialized blood test for a slight heart murmer (also nearly $300, not included in the full blood test). Also recommended was a dental cleaning. Last year, I was told my cat's teeth looked fantastic for an eight year old, and the shelter might have got gis age wrong. But the new vet said he might need an extraction, if things did not improve. On the survey form, I was asked if I knew about the cat wellness plan offer and, specifically, whether a dental cleaning had been recommended. I have read about vet businesses being purchased by investing companies and rates dramatically increased. I suspect recommending pricey work is now encouraged. The upshot is, I no longer trust recommendations are based solely on my Pet's health. Also I asked about my cat's eye, which he had a problem with. The vet may have glanced at my pet's eyes, but we did not discuss the issue. I am checking if my next appointment (different pet) is with the vet I saw previously before deciding to shop around for another vet. I declined services approaching $1000, and my bill was still over $250. This place has gone to the...investors.

Experiencia fantástica: I can't say enough good things about Burnham. I never feel that they are trying to upsell me, which is common at most vets. Dr. A, the vet, is simply amazing and also cares about your pet. For being in the South Loop Burnham is more cost effective that other vets and you get quality care from them. I have brought my dog to Burnham because my regular vet, who is closer to my home, was unable to perform a surgical procedure. Dr. A was able to get the job done successfully.

Experiencia negativa: I used to really enjoy coming here, but after my last visit I felt as though I needed to leave this review. My cat passed away sadly last week, but leading up to her death I had taken her into Burnham for some concerns. They gave her an eye exam because she was having difficulties keeping her eye open and kept squinting in pain and I told our doctor that I felt she had something stuck in there. The doctor told me she was fine after the exam and said there was nothing wrong with her eye. I took Doja to another vet in River North called Vetique and they found a massive ulcer in her eye the day before she passed. It pains me to know she went a week with horrible pain from that ulcer that our doctor didn’t even see. Doctor Olson also never called back to make a treatment plan for Doja which also really upset me, only called back to tell me Doja’s blood work and told me to take her to an emergency vet when I told her how the medication she prescribed Doja was causing her to act, which caused me to move to another vet for the last week of Doja’s life that made me feel very welcome and seen and not annoying for asking questions- the vet that found her ulcer. I’m just really disappointed with the lack of care from Burnham. Vetique has gone out of their way to send stuff regarding pet loss and grief and has done so much for me and Doja despite only going there for one week, making us feel like family. Burnham pet plaza has shown me that they don’t have the time in their day to fully care or give your pet the best treatment plan.

Experiencia fantástica: I've been going to Burnham for many years. They've had some front desk staff changes over the years, that came with great improvements....now in 2024. The staff of doctors have always been consistent. They give straightforward advice and information. They're good at answering questions and giving aftercare instructions. The hospital also does follow-up phone calls on all visits... We recently had dental work done for my dog that required extracting teeth. They recommended a plan that includes the dental work, vaccinations and unlimited office visit up to a year. You can either pay for the plan upfront or pay over time. Price cost was somewhat reasonable. I don't have any complaints, or concerns....

Experiencia negativa: No stars. After I provided a $50 deposit to hold my appointment they hounded me for days to make sure I was coming. Then, when I arrived for my 12pm appointment they made me wait alone with my cat in an exam room until 12:30. Dr. Phillips was completely uninterested in my cat. She briefly examined her and then took her in the back room for blood tests. When these tests were complete Dr. Phillips had a tech bring my cat back to me. She could not be bothered wrapping up the appointment with me because as the tech said Dr. Phillips has another appointment. You can be sure they charged me a high price for this appointment. I would never return.

Experiencia fantástica: The best care in the South Loop for pets, hands down. On April 29th, fate brought us and our beloved cat to Burnham Park Animal Hospital. From walking in, afraid and uninformed, to tragically walking out with an empty pet carrier and tears in our eyes, the team and Dr. Olson guided us through and helped us make sense of something we were not prepared for that day. We arrived over 2 hours early for our appointment, but they recognized the urgency of his symptoms and roomed us right away. Dr. Olson was so warm and caring, but also inspired confidence and trust with her knowledge of the situation and her honesty with what we might expect. She also gave us very clear and concise information about the costs involved with each test/procedure being recommended - down to exact dollar amounts, so there would not be surprise bills to follow. Choices for every option were explained and we were provided realistic expectations for what may follow each of those treatment decisions. When we decided that the right thing to do was humanely end the suffering, Dr. Olson made sure we felt support and not judgment. Not once were there any notions of pushing us in any particular direction, only compassion and reassurance from her best clinical assessment of the situation. We were given all the time we needed, allowed privacy to discuss, space and time to say goodbye, and any other accommodation we could ask for. The team: all great. From the front desk to the assistants in the room, to the vet who was new to the practice who accompanied Dr. Olson...everyone is there for the right reasons and it shows. One week later, I received and hand-written sympathy card from Dr. Olson....just, wow. I will cherish that along with everything being memorialized as a part of our journey. And I will be back when the day comes to start a new family with a pet again. The pain is getting better day by day, and it is so cathartic to be able to share this review with others.

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my Belgian Malinois in for his annual shots. I decided to get him a complete tune-up so he received shots, dental check-up, and nails clipped. Dr. Ohlsen took great care of him. He is starting to get a little arthritis now so she told me what to do. He needs to lose about 12 pounds! Those damned eyes of his get to me everytime and I give him treats. Nope. That stops today. He behaved very well. All the staff is very nice and friendly. He cost me $300 today. My little buddy is worth it though. Great place! SB

Experiencia negativa: This is a veterinarian office, but it is also a business in a major city. Ask for pricing of each medical procedure or vaccine for your pet before it is performed (don’t expect it unless you ask). Ask for advice from your vet. But also use your prior experience, available resources, and seek a second opinion if you are concerned about misdiagnosis. In my case, I found that I could do without Bordatella and Leptospirosis vaccines given the lifestyle, recreational, and social tendencies of my pet. I also avoided risk of potential side-effects of Lepto vaccine for my small pet. If need be, I could put that money I saved toward treatment of disease in the unlikely case my dog became ill. In summary, ask your vet, consider your options, and use your best judgment. Best to you.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been here 3 times now and every time is a great experience, esp when you’re worried about your babies. They always do their best to get you in as soon as they can and are sweet and helpful. I’ve seen Dr Antonicic (I believe is his name) twice and as always, very welcoming & helpful. Experiencia negativa: I took my baby in yesterday for X-rays to her hips and legs. She was muzzled of course and put into a cage until she could be sedated and the procedure performed. When I went to pick her up afterwards and had the consultation with Dr. Olsen, I was informed she sustained a chipped tooth and an abrasion on her tongue, supposedly from chewing on the bars of the cage she was placed in. At the time of pick up I didn’t give it too much concern, but after seeing the actual wounds, I know I was blatantly lied to! I am taking her to her old vet to document the injuries, and will bringing a lawsuit against them. The doc told me she bit her tongue while under sedation, how is that possible if she was sedated? And if she was muzzled, how could she have chewed on bars of a cage? She is older annd never did anny of that EVER! Also, when my son was taken back to get her out of her cage, he noted that her muzzle WAS NOT ON! It’s a damn shame that I entrust my baby’s well being with this place, and she is returned to me in worse shape than she went in!!! Excuse my language, BUT I AM PISSED OFF!
Experiencia negativa: I’ve been coming here since my dog has been a couple months old. I think this is an okay office but the vet that seen my dog today I don’t think she is properly trained in reading signals. She tried to pat the top of my dogs head. And it is a known fact that most dogs don’t like to be pet here. You need to allow them to smell you first. Most dogs just tolerate it but that is not the proper way to handle a dog. I had to step out the room because he was nervous. She stated that my dog growled at her. My dog has never growled in his entire life he is the sweetest dog. I would like for my dog to be treated like other dogs when I do come back. He is a larger breed dog with cropped ears but never assume he is aggressive. We get enough judgment and I would like that to change the next time I come back with my sweet boy.

Experiencia positiva: I like this vet but every time I go there my dog gets a new veterinarian. No one ever knows me or my dog. I like things like this to be more personal and the vet should have first hand knowledge of my dog. Also it’s ridiculously expensive, $300+ to tell me what dog food to switch to.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been going to this vet office since around 2001. Dr Adam Thomas used to be a vet here and he was phenomenal. I always felt good knowing that my cats were in his care. After Dr Thomas left, it didn't seem the same. But I have to say that the vets that my cats have seen since then are still really good and very knowledgeable. I have most of my experience with Dr Olson and Dr Vlahos. I'm not sure about the other ones. All in all, this is a really good vet office. I have yet to find a better one. The current vet for my cats, Dr Phillips, is amazing!!! She is very knowledgeable and really cares about my cats and their health. She has a very nice personality, is a great listener and is easy to talk to about anything that may be going on with my cats. I highly recommend her as a vet. :)

Experiencia negativa: To be fair I tried to contact burnham park directly about my pets excessive bruising to resolve this BEFORE posting this review, but they didn’t bother to respond, so here it is… I recently moved to the city and brought my dog here for his first exam - I explained he is a 12 yr old geriatric cancer survivor with arthritis and to please be extra careful with him. They obviously had trouble taking blood from my baby and didn’t bother to tell me they had any difficulty, nor did they warn me that I should expect any bruising or anything. To my horror I discovered all of this awful bruising a few hours after returning home from the appointment. It is horrific. I took him back to my previous vet (40 miles away) to be looked at today. She said my dog has no clotting issues, that the vet likely didn’t hold the vein properly after drawing blood causing all of this excessive bruising. Do not bring your beloved pet to this place

Experiencia fantástica: We took our pup here because of his luxating patella grade 3. We had been to other vets but nobody was able to give us clear direction and care like they did at Burnham. I really appreciate being able to ask all the questions I had, and the vet answered as if it were his pet. He also didn’t jump to scaring us into surgery, he gave us our options but prioritized the health and well being of our dog. We will be switching vets, despite the longer drive. Want to add too that my pup can get anxious at the vet and he did just great! So he liked the vibes as well haha.

Experiencia fantástica: My first time here; no wait at all really and they were flexible on the scheduling. The tech and vet took their time and listened to my concerns. Sosa was treated very kindly there, we will be back. Only downside is paid street parking or paid garage parking.

Experiencia fantástica: My cat was a new “patient” to this vet office after transferring her care from her old vet. The admin that helped me schedule stated the office would call her previous provider to have her records sent over before I even had to inquire. Both the tech and Dr. Schell were very professional, familiar with my cat’s history, and pleasant to work with. The front desk person was patient and helpful with my questions about the paw plan. I hope we don’t need to come back anytime soon, but I am glad I finally got set up with a vet in the neighborhood!

Experiencia negativa: My cat is 17 years old and he has become very weak and deteriorated rapidly in the past 3 days so my daughter and husband took him to your clinic Apparently when the vet had entered he had asked them are you here to put him down? And they had told him no. He had asked them why are you here? And they told him that we are wondering whether there is an acute thing such as infection or dehydration going on that can get better by treatment He had asked what else do you expect? The cat is old This really upset my daughter who has grown up with this cat We KNOW THAT HE IS OLD WE KNOW THAT HE IS PROBABLY DYING BUT WE EXPECT COMPASSION FROM A VET as a vet you must know that these are not Just animal but a dear member of the family We have two other kittens whom we just adopted and WE WILL NOT BRING THEM TO YOUR CLINIS

Experiencia fantástica: If I could give 100 stars, I would. My husband and I chose Burnham Park Animal Hospital to care for our puppy when we were living in the South Loop. A few months ago we moved out to Irving Park, and we both came to the quick consensus that BPAH would remain our vet despite the distance. Everyone there shows our dog and us so much compassion and care. We’ve had experiences with three of their vets— Dr. Phillips, Dr. Antonicic, and Dr. Schell. They have all been beyond amazing, informative, and so genuinely caring. Their vet techs/front desk staff are just as caring and kind. Their emergency services (and prices!) FAR surpass the services at MedVet, which we have gone to once. Our dog is never scared to go to the vet/leave the room without us and happily greets every staff member there, which tells me they’re just as amazing behind the scenes as they are when we are present in the room. I truly can’t speak highly enough of Burnham Park Vet. We feel blessed to have them care for our sweet boy.

Experiencia negativa: Feel conflicted about this one. BPAH has helped me in a pinch with my dog many times but, as is the case with all PE-backed Vets, this place has started to only care about the bottom line. Procedures are 4x as much as you can get them from suburban or rural clinics less than an hour away. Called-in Prescriptions aren’t filled until you arrive which means you’re left waiting 30 mins for a vet to free up and fill it. Payment is mandatory before you leave and they have no payment plans unless you enroll in their paw plan program (another PE tactic to get recurring revenue). The attitudes of the ever-turning-over front desk and check in staff aren’t great either. Vets are the only saving grace of this place but I’m afraid it’s time to move on to a more community-centric clinic.
