Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Eisele and her team provided exceptional care for our senior Pomeranian, Pinot We brought Pinot to the ER on a Friday early morning with severe GI symptoms that had been worsening over several days. Dr. Eisele was thorough, compassionate, and took the time to explain everything clearly. She ran comprehensive bloodwork to rule out serious conditions and performed additional testing that diagnosed Clostridium overgrowth - something we wouldn’t have figured out without her expertise. We were seen quickly, the wait time was significantly shorter than other emergency vets we’ve been to, and the facility itself is very clean and well-maintained. The pricing was also reasonable compared to other emergency services. Dr. Eisele sent us home with a clear treatment plan and the medications Pinot needed. We’re already seeing improvement! I’m so grateful for her care and highly recommend this practice.

Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely stellar care. Incredible vet techs, very knowledgeable doctors! They were really great about letting my wife and I stay with our inpatient pup while he got rehydrated and we were able to come and go easily without any hassle while he was being taken care of overnight. They answered all of our questions, greeted us everytime we came in, were transparent and up-front about costs, and overall provided top-notch care. We came in Friday mid-morning and were seen immediately, no wait. Clean, efficient, great bedside manner all around. Can't say enough good.

Experiencia fantástica: I never write a review but I was so blown away with the care we received that I had too. We took our dog in after she was having cluster seizures. I forgot our nurses but she was absolutely amazing and I’m sure everyone else is too. The doctors did so well with explaining their recommendations and helped us come up with a plan that we would be able to afford until we went in to see our primary doctor. I really hope I never have to go in again but incase of an emergency there’s no doubt this is the place.

Experiencia fantástica: My cat's eyes were having sudden issues, and I panicked and brought her in. The only other time I had been to a vet emergency place was in Boston for my brother's dog and it took forever to be seen. I was shocked that they took us in right away, got her vitals, and calmed me down. They gave me all the options even though there was a clear best option. My baby is feeling so much better now! I'm so grateful.

Experiencia fantástica: We had an outstanding experience at VEG South Loop and are so grateful for the team there. Our puppy recently had a fracture that was initially treated at another ER, but when we got home his cast was causing significant pain. We were reassured by the prior ER that this was normal, but our intuition told us something wasn’t right. In the middle of the night, we brought him to VEG and were met by Tilly and Dr. Sara Cowan. From the moment we arrived, they truly listened to our concerns and trusted what we were seeing as pet parents. They noticed subtle signs that something was off, and Dr. Sara Cowan carefully evaluated him and realized his arm was twisted and incorrectly wrapped, which was causing him significant pain. She handled the situation with such professionalism and grace. She never spoke negatively about the other center and instead focused entirely on making our puppy comfortable and cared for. Dr. Cowan is compassionate, attentive, and incredibly skilled. She treats pets like they are family, not just numbers coming through an ER. We left feeling heard, reassured, and deeply thankful. VEG South Loop is lucky to have her and the team there. We would absolutely trust them again in an emergency.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog had been stabbed, and the team at VEG South Loop acted immediately. They were incredibly professional, compassionate, and reassuring during a very stressful and shocking moment. They explained everything clearly and were completely transparent about costs. Experiencia negativa: I want to first start off by saying the VEG team who cared for my dog was kind, patient, and understanding. I'm grateful for that. Unfortunately, the way the clinic handled the aftercare afterward was deeply disappointing. After euthanasia, we were given options including cremation and (for an extra fee) a clay paw print memorial. We clearly stated we wanted cremation with the clay paw print. When paying at the front desk, I asked about the process and whether we would pick it up there. I was told I’d receive an email. No email came. On the third day, I called to check and was told there had been a “misunderstanding” and our dog had already been cremated. The invoice I received was very vague/not itemized, so in the moment it was difficult to confirm exactly what was included or what we were being charged for. I was devastated. This was supposed to be our memorial item and part of how we were coping with the loss. I asked them to waive the cremation fee due to the error. The representative said they needed to speak with to a higher up and would call me back — they never did. This was an incredibly painful situation, and the poor communication, vague billing, and lack of follow-through made it much worse.

We understand how meaningful memorial items are in the grieving process, and we are truly sorry for the added pain and distress this situation caused.

Experiencia fantástica: Everyone we encountered here was so nice and patient. Our girl Freedah did amazing, better than we expected there. We still can’t seem to figure out what is wrong with her as the labs and ultrasound results came back fine. She did improve a bit in a sense. They broke down the cost before anything and they accept care credit as well for payment options.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a great experience at this location and with Dr. Grossman and his team. We arrived at 4pm on a Tuesday and were triaged immediately. Dr. Grossman then took his time to understand my pet's symptoms and then developed a plan and provided costs upfront, which was very appreciated. Nothing was rushed and the entire staff was so kind, caring, and wonderful with my pup. I was able to request a staged approach which was respected, since many places pressure you to do everything at once. It's not cheap, but well worth it for the detailed care and peace of mind. This is the best urgent care for pets in Chicago.

Experiencia fantástica: I lost my one year old cat Mouse last night but was met with compassion and care during that time. Despite how busy an ER gets, Dr. Grossman did his very best to share updates and stayed longer to discuss options regarding his care. I felt that his GP did overlook very glaring signs that something was wrong, but VEG took his condition very seriously, immediately running tests and recommended hospitalization. Unfortunately, despite receiving the utmost care, my cat’s AKI and immune system gave out. Dr. Grossman was very empathetic, and talking to him and Mouse’s options helped me come to my decision that I had to minimize his extreme suffering and proceed with euthanasia. The staff was very compassionate and allowed me and my friends to sit with Mouse for a couple hours in a comfort room, and at a certain point recommended pain medication and an IV if I wanted to sit with him longer, but he was in such severe pain I did not want him to suffer any longer than he already had been. I did not want to leave him alone when he died, so the doctor walked me through the process and she gave me that space to grieve, which I will never forget. Thank you for your help and the care that you gave Mouse.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Eisele and all the vet techs took great care of Hazel in the two times we had to come in yesterday, as did the doctor she saw Tuesday night for her grape ingestion. Dr. Eisele did a great job of calming me down and reassuring me that she was going to be okay once we ruled out anything critical. I appreciated how fast she was X-rayed last night to ensure her retching wasn't critical and how fast we received results, which was extra impressive considering there were multiple critical cases there at the same time. She was also very helpful over the phone and gave clear things to do and to watch for to determine if I should bring her in. The vet techs and Dr. Eisele did a great job of making Hazel as comfortable as possible throughout our time there. Dr. Eisele also showed she cared about me through telling me about CareCredit so I am able to more easily shoulder the medical costs. We were frequently checked on during all three visits, and I could tell the staff really cared about making sure both Hazel and I were okay.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff here at the veterinary emergency group in south loop, truly are angles on earth! I came rushing in scared for my cats life, and they treated him immediately, with care and expertise. They not only catered to the wellbeing of my cat but to me and my friend in panic. They explained every step and course of action needed, in a simple and helpful way, And patiently answered all our questions. As well, they were direct and upfront with cost and mindful of my budget, especially for being a 24 hour hospital vet the prices were surprisingly affordable. Experiencia fantástica: The team at VEG is the best. My cat had some ingrown nails- unfortunately we will have to clip hers more often than our other cats, ans we know that now, she is older than all of our other rescues. I was uncertain if we could bring her there and was concerned to wait- she hurt herself this morning and I was worried about infection. They told us we could bring her in, thankfully! And she was seen quickly. Our skiddish girl was so calm around the whole team! They were amazing! I am so grateful for VEG!

Experiencia fantástica: Had to come here twice for my dogs and the care is really great. The facility is very clean and open so you can stay with your pet for the most part. The nurses and doctors were great and you can tell they love animals. It’s really assuring having a 24 hour vet in the area.

Experiencia negativa: Worst experience ever! My cat has asthma and heart disease, I took him in at 5am when I noticed his respiratory rate was faster than normal. The night shift doctor was friendly but definitely underestimated his situation. I was told he was stable and no need to worry too much. After doing all the examinations, he was put into the oxygen cage at around 6am. They had shift switch at 7am and Taylor Banc so called day shift vet took over my cat's case. She was very unfriendly, impatient and cold. The only few conversations she made with me were to ask me to pay for further treatment plans. I was there from 5am to 11am and 2pm to 5pm, during these periods, they checked on him less than 5 times and there was no update unless you asked by yourself. They said they gave him doses of Lasix to help him get the fluid out of his body, so I asked if he has been urinating and they simply said they don't know. We stayed there for 12 hours, my cat was not getting better instead he was getting worse. When they asked me to sign the agreement for another 24 hours hospitalization, I decided to transfer my cat to Medvet. The staffs here are very unprofessional, especially the vets, they only stand up for the new customers, other time they just sit in their seats chatting and laughing. The open environment gives you the opportunity to stay with your pets but it is also noisy and chaotic. If your pets need a quiet environment or experience acomplicated situation, go somewhere professional directly. This ER is just a waste of time and money.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Kess made our first visit unforgettable for all the right reasons. I rescued a very nervous, reactive pitbull and was honestly terrified to bring her in, but from the moment we walked through the door the staff welcomed us with genuine smiles and put me at ease. Dr. Kess was the star. calm, deeply knowledgeable, and incredibly patient with my dog. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all my worried questions, and treated my dog with real compassion during an emergency. The staff (I’m sorry I forgot names) were wonderful too they helped carry my dog on a cart when we arrived and assisted me again when we left. Because it was Christmas, having their care felt like the best gift I could’ve gotten. When I explained my financial struggles they listened, showed compassion, and worked with me to provide a discount so my dog could get the care she needed. I’m so grateful to have found a veterinarian and team who truly put animals and people first. Thank you, Dr. Kess and team you gave us peace of mind when we needed it most. Highly recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: Our experience at VEG was very positive with Dr Grossman gently dealing with our dog who had an unexpected medical issue. The staff saw to us immediately, the facilities were clean and pleasant, and the cost was reasonable. After the fact, we called in with some medical concerns and Dr Grossman took ten minutes to answer all of our questions. No one wants to have to go to an emergency vet, but if the situation arose again, we would head to VEG without hesitation

Experiencia negativa: My daughter took her fur baby to Veterinary Emergency Group for urgent care and we, as a family, were deeply disappointed with the experience. The second attending veterinarian was unprepared, uneducated, unpleasant and did not demonstrate the level of professionalism needed. We were given no clear explanation of our fur baby’s condition, no discussion of possible treatments options, and no plan of care moving forward. Communication was minimal leaving us feeling helpless, unsupported and financially broke while our fur baby was dying. Ultimately, we made the decision to transfer our fur baby to MedVet. MedVet immediately assessed, communicated and implemented a plan of care! We are grateful for MedVet. We will not be recommending Veterinary Emergency Group nor use their facilities again.

Experiencia fantástica: First time going in to this facility, it was a great experience due to that my little 4 feet baby went sick randomly and didnt had any idea why, i called many options but here i felt it since the phone they didnt just game me a price they were interested in knowing what was wrong with my little one ! price was amazing specially in this time of holidays ! all the staff was great happyly the medicine and treatment help my doggie to feel way better fast. Not to mention the place was amazing clean and they offer snacks and drinks while you wait, which it didnt took me more that hr to be out and my baby feeling better !

Experiencia fantástica: Every time I come to VEG I just leave grateful that I live nearby. I've never had such consistently positive experiences with emergency vets. Across three states now, this is the only place I've lived that I feel relieved going to the veterinary ER. Every animal I've brought to VEG has gotten the best chance and then some. The vets are compassionate and intelligent. They think comprehensively even while managing crazy caseloads. And the vet techs are probably not even human, they have this incredible energy and upbeat attitude even while dealing with less social animals. The front desk is always helpful and efficient when I have to call in or get anything set up. I mean they just have emergency medicine down. The follow-up care and honest advice over the phone from doctors is especially commendable, and I feel that they always balance trying to avoid unnecessary costs while not overlooking possible emergencies. I don't know if people have the time to look at Google Reviews when they're considering going to an emergency vet. But I do hope someone who is part of the South Loop VEG team comes across this review and feels good about this incredible team that they are part of.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Palmer is a lifesaver. I'm unemployed and my partner is disabled and so originally we had to deny a big portion of the care plan due to cost. The initial examination (which started promptly when we arrived, even though we didn't call ahead. Thanks so much to the nurses and the other doctors who helped!) showed that my cat wasn't in any immediate danger, but deep down I was still worried about him. I didn't know it when I declined the treatment plan originally, but Dr. Palmer was actually worried about him too. She met me where I was at, explained that there was one test she wanted to do and why it was important to do it, asked me what my budget was, and was so incredibly generous in a way I absolutely did not expect and excused the rest of the bill. Now I'm able to rest easy knowing my big guy's kidneys are okay (as well as everything else) and that the treatment plan he's on now is the right choice. To Dr. Palmer, thank you so, so, so much. People like you restore my faith in humanity. Roundhouse has been feeling better, also. Thank you to VEG for all the help.

Experiencia negativa: Predatory policy over compassion toward the pet and pet parent. They amounted procedure after procedure while my cat was dying with no hope. No clear assessment, no clear explanation. Asked to sign a DNR after they have applied CPR on him when it was clear there was no chance of survival. They took full body X-rays with no justification. Be aware! Don’t let them rip you off on top of performing painful procedures, like sewing! a feeding tube!, on top of your grief!

Experiencia fantástica: I want to personally Thank the Veterinary Emergency Group for their care, for their transparency, for their consistency. You all are freaking amazing and there should be more places like yours. We brought in our 9month old pitbull for the second time and both times were extremely helpful. When we first brought her they informed us she had worms, educated us on steps to move forward, they were honest with the payments however that wasn’t their biggest concern (YOU ANIMALS DESERVE EVERY PENNY YOU CAN GIVE TO CARE FOR THEM). But I really want to talk about our lasted visit on 11/28/25 after the holidays. We brought Macy in due to her skin having a lot of sores and they came out of nowhere and were all over her body. She wasn’t as active and her eating was declining by the day. Times have been hard and we were intending to get her vaccinations; however something told us to bring her here again. We were seen immediately and although on first sight they weren’t as sure what she had, (something still told me if they didn’t at least we could give them the chance to learn so this didn’t happen to other dogs)they educated us once again, gave us time to think and collect ourselves on how we’re would pay for whatever we needed to (i literally broke down crying in the waiting area) do and after talking and more education, they let us know what it might be, they did test (didn’t take long ) The care was on OUR DOG. Not if payment was first is my main point. And they will NEVER let any one walk out without being educated. We were given resources to look for a primary care doctor and the importance of doing to. We were also taught the difference between urgent, primary and emergency care. Sounds crazy I know but we appreciated not feeling bad for not knowing as much. Thank you to the doctor and amazing nurses and the main nurse with the fro with the curls, Thank you all. Praying we don’t have to meet again as we have. IF YOUR DOG CHILD NEEDS EMERGENCY CARE BRING THEM HERE … I vouch , 2 days later and our baby is eating more, playing more and back to cause mayhem. We have 3 weeks of meds to go but I’m beyond grateful.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr.Cowan was absolutely amazing! I truly cannot be more thankful for her. I had to bring my baby cat Tofu in for not eating for almost 24 hrs. He was acting very unusual and was not his happy self. Upon arriving we were greeted by a very nice women who even opened the door for us. Her sense of urgency for my cat made me feel safe. She got us back RIGHT AWAY to have his vitals checked. Shortly after we were put into our own private room. Dr.Cowan worked with our budget and did what she thought was best to help Tofu get better. I did not catch our nurses names but they were so gentle and caring with my Tofu. They were very reassuring and thorough with any questions or concerns I had. The next morning Tofu ate his breakfast and was doing MUCH better. He even had energy again to play! I would HIGHLY recommend this place when your animal is having an emergency. The atmosphere of this place is unmatched. I observed the doctors and nurses all working together as a team to help other animals that needed help. From the bottom of my heart Thank you VEG and all staff. Below is tofu feeling relief once he got fluids :)

Experiencia fantástica: I took my almost 13-years old, diabetic for 5-years and recently diagnosed with cushings disease dog to VEG the night of 11.8.25. I noticed his cognitive decline a little over a month ago. We just ordered his cushings meds, he had not started treatment, and he was still full of life! He experienced a seizure after I arrived at home. I called his vet who shared what she thought it could be but was deeply concerned. After another seizure that night, I took him to VEG, for emergency care. The VEG team treating him agreed with my dog's vet, it was likely his low blood sugar, they tested and began treating him. I shared my past experience with them regarding another dog that I lost because the vet staff at another hospital was not honest with regarding my dog's health. They knew she was dying when I arrived, my vet shared her dire condition before she sent me there. One of the vets finally shared with me what she knew, on day four. She had never treated my dog until that day. She told me that her peers should have talked to me the day after bringing her in. I told them that I was taking her home after the conversation with that vet. She died in the early hours on day five. They took advantage of me financially, did not prioritize my dog's quality of life, leaving my trust shaken as it relates to emergency vet care. VEG explained that the quality of life for aminals are priority and they would be honest with pet owners. My dog had two more seizures in their care, the last one was after his low blood sugar was above dangerous levels. I received the call from VEG early morning 11.9.25 updating on his health. He had four seizures within than 10 hours. At this point they knew it was more than low blood sugar. Something that his vet of 12 years was deeply concern about. My dog was my furry son, his quality of life, our mental health and my ability to financial take care of my entire family including him is extremely important. My family and I made the decision to give him freedom and release him from the increased suffering that we all including him would endure. VEG staff, THANK YOU for listening to me, understanding the importance of your patience quality of live and the quality of live of pet owners. When our pets suffer, we suffer as well. My heart is broken, I lost my two dogs from the same disease but my experiences with their transitioning care was extremely different and very important. Your caring, warmth and love for pets and their families is very present. Thank you for helping me experience a sense of peace at such a difficult time and restoring my trust in emergency vet care. With gratitude!

Experiencia fantástica: This is the place to go if you have an emergency. They are ACTUALLY open when they are supposed to and they care and all are ready to take action when an emergency comes. I didn’t make it in time with my dog so he passed in the car because other places turned us down and weren’t open when they advertised that they were. But the way they sprung into action asked if I was okay with CPR and still ready to try meant so much to me. They were so caring and comforting and explained and helped with the next steps. I am sad my dog is gone but I’m also very grateful because I now know where to actually go with my other dog when an emergency comes and they need medical attention. You guys are great and keep doing the work you all do❤️

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my cat Pip to the Veterinary Emergency Group (South Loop) late last night after she suddenly became lethargic and started breathing strangely. Dr. Hanie Elfenbein (“Dr. E”) and Deb took care of her, and I can’t say enough good things about them. They were incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely compassionate, not only toward Pip, but toward me as well. From the moment we arrived, they treated Pip as if she were their own cat. They took the time to explain everything clearly, answered every question, and made sure I understood what was happening without adding to my worry. What really stood out was how considerate and thoughtful they were during the hours we stayed, they brought over a chair and small desk so I could sit right next to Pip’s kennel and even continue working while staying close to her, so she wouldn’t feel alone. Dr. E and Deb went above and beyond to make both of us comfortable in a stressful situation. Their empathy, professionalism, and genuine care meant so much. I’m deeply grateful for the entire South Loop VEG team, they truly care about both pets and the people who love them.

Experiencia fantástica: We really liked this place. We had to take our cat to the emergency vet after he ate a piece of foam and started vomiting and getting lethargic. This is an open concept hospital, so we were able to stay with our little guy at all points of the process. They took a lot of time to explain everything that was going on and went through the cost estimate with us line by line. I really got the sense that these people cared deeply about doing what was best for our cat.

Experiencia fantástica: So I called veterinary emergency group today because my dog just had a litter of puppies and she’s being extremely picky about what she eats and I took that as she had an underline medical condition because she was turning down food, even though she was eating, she would only eat Dog treats I talked to a veterinarian named Patricia and what impressed me most about Patricia is that she was more concerned with the Health of my dog and her puppies then she was into trying to get me to come into the veterinarian office so that they can charge me for an examination, it was clear that this conversation that I was having with Patricia wasn’t a money grab but a genuine concern for the health of my dog and her puppies after the conversation Patricia put my mind at ease letting me know that my dog didn’t have an underline medical condition and it was common for dogs to be picky after Giving birth she also suggested that I get her a calcium supplement and she gave me tips and tricks on how to get her to eat all that without asking for a dime because at the end of the phone call I felt so comforted by the information that she gave me I requested to pay her for the phone call She refused payment and said she would take a review instead so here is my review and it is 100% a positive one.

Experiencia negativa: I would give a 0 if I could. My boyfriend went less than 24 hours ago and had the worst experience, aside from him already being distraught about having to put his dog down. There was an altercation where it lead my boyfriend to leave the vet, he realized he left his bag behind. We called this morning a little after 5AM and got confirmation his book bag(there was valuables in there like iPad, phone and speaker was all still there. When we arrived after 7AM, they tell him it was misunderstanding, his book bag was never “inside the safe” it was in the side. Mind you this place in order to get in YOU HAVE TO get buzzed in. The staff was very unprofessional and thief’s. We asked for camera footage and they couldn’t even take a look just to check. They made us go do a police report, which they lied about. The police told my boyfriend he will need to lawyer up and sue the place. We just wanted his belongings back as it’s valuable and has videos/photos of his dog. Dr. Cohen was no help at all and very insensitive about the whole situation. I have been searching for a higher ups contact information and haven’t had luck. DONT BRING YOUR PET HERE. THEY ARE HEARTLESS. STARTING WITH THE AFRICAN AMERICAN SECURITY THEY HAD, which we believed could have taken his belongings, since he was part of the altercation. We have video proof the bag was left behind.

Experiencia fantástica: I couldn't have had a more positive experience here. The staff was compassionate, calm, and friendly. When you are taking your pet to an ER, it's a stressful situation--but everyone from the front desk to the vets and veterinary assistants gave me a reassuring sense of peace. When I brought my dog in I also had my toddler with me, and the staff brought my toddler snacks and helped me when it was time to load everyone back up in the car. Hopefully I'll never have a reason to go back but if we did have another emergency with our dog I'd take him here.

Experiencia fantástica: I had to bring my cat in after he ingested a bunch of foreign objects. He was taken care of as soon as we walked in. I appreciated they let you watch every procedure so I felt confident my pet was being well taken care of. Its easy to tell that the vets here are amazing at their jobs. Every single staff member was so kind to me and my cat. They answered all my questions and concerns. My cats emergency did end up being rather expensive, but they helped me discuss my most affordable options. Im so thankful for that, it felt like they cared about us and were not just doing it for the money. They kept my cat comfortably overnight. When i came to see him the next day, they even had videos playing for him on a tablet to keep him entertained which is so sweet. I would absolutely recommend them.

Experiencia fantástica: My partner and I came in around 6 am on Sunday because our baby, Lux, had a seizure. We had a long weekend with many vet visits and overall, we knew she was in pain and that even if we treated her, she wouldn't be getting better. When we came, we were greeted with kindness and compassion and Lux was taken care of and they made her super comfy. Ultimately, we went to VEG because we knew we were going in the direction of saying goodbye to our sweet baby. Dr.R (Itescu) and Dr. Prestia had helped inform us with the most that they could. Although we had to put Lux down that day, we were comforted by the doctors and staff and cannot thank them enough. We appreciate how thoughtful and kind they were throughout the whole process and would highly recommend their service!

Experiencia negativa: I paid $205 for a consultation, but unfortunately, I left without a clear understanding of what’s wrong with my dog. I was then informed that an additional $850 in diagnostic testing would be needed just to identify the issue. I was expecting at least a general screening or preliminary assessment to help guide next steps, and it was disappointing to receive no definitive insights from the initial visit.

My cousin and I visited Friday night and, sadly, came in with our family pet but did not leave with her. Experiencia fantástica: Literally helped us through the door and only got better from there! Dr. Eisele and the rest of the team we saw this morning were phenomenal! We were triaged immediately, given a comfortable place to wait, were allowed to stay with our cat throughout the process, and were given detailed and thorough information every step of the way. Experiencia fantástica: Immediate care for our fur-baby! Caring, capable people at every phase of our visit. Clean facility! He received a mat and blanket instead of resting on the cold facility floor. He was comfortable. We were there every step of the way. They encouraged us to ask questions, explained and repeated as necessary without any signs of annoyance. The resources for his continued care was much appreciated! Vet care is very expensive, yet can be well worth it when you know a loved one is receiving excellent care. I would definitely return if needed and recommend this establishment. Thank you!! Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Goins and assistant Hailey went above and beyond for my dog.I think one of the things they stood out was the sense that they saw and appreciated everything about Otto that I do. They laughed with me at his quirks and made sure to comfort and reassure me as an owner. They were communicative and always professional. They shared stories about themselves that made me feel like I was getting to know a person, not just a professional. This was so wonderful during such a stressful time. All of the people who greeted me, comforted my dog during bloodwork and putting his catheter in etc were so kind.

Experiencia negativa: This place deserves ZERO STARS and should have a CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT against them. If you have a choice please don’t bring your pet here. I bought my dog here in 2023, they examined her charged almost 3K to treat her, they took her to the back and did God knows what to her , she came back looking lifeless, these murders suggested she be put down( after charging the money). I definitely didn’t want to leave her there so I took her home. Just two days later my baby had passed away. Stay far far away from this hospital.

Experiencia positiva: I brought my cat to VEG South Loop for an emergency, and what started as an “okay” visit took a turn 24 hours later. While the staff was pleasant (the reason I initially considered more stars), I was very concerned about how long it took for my cat to be seen after falling from the third floor. We arrived shortly after 9 am, but he was not seen until after 11:30 am. During that long wait, I pressed the call button twice and no one ever came to check if I needed assistance. That alone was unsettling, but I overlooked it because again, the staff was kind. The real disappointment came the next day. A bandage had been placed on my cat’s uninjured leg, and I was not instructed to remove it. Because of this, the bandage remained on for over 24 hours, and my primary vet documented a severe infection that could have cost my cat his leg. When I returned to VEG to address this, I initially felt dismissed. The vet admitted their own policy was not followed but seemed to deflect instead of providing accountability. I left feeling insulted, upset, and worried for my cat’s leg. **Update:** This morning, Ryan Cohen, the medical director, personally reached out and invited me back in to examine my cat’s leg. I appreciated the gesture, as it showed genuine concern and a willingness to make things right. He acknowledged my concerns, addressed them directly, and took time to ensure my cat was properly evaluated. Mistakes do happen, but this one could have escalated into something much worse, so I am relieved it was taken seriously. While my trust was shaken by the initial experience, I do appreciate today’s follow-up and the effort made to correct the situation. For that reason, I am updating this to 3 stars to reflect both the seriousness of what went wrong and the genuine effort made afterward to address it.

Experiencia fantástica: The care and respect I received from all the doctors was nothing short of amazing! Dr. Goins and Erin Nicole O’neil are angles from GOD they helped my puppy recover what could have been the worst night of my life. Another notable mention would be Christian, though he was not on my dogs case he offered me and my mom a place to sleep, and a jacket to keep warm.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. R and nurse Jackie were the most perfect staff members to care for my baby! I could not have picked a better team to help educate, soothe our anxieties, and provide over the top quality care. Nurse Jackie showered my sweet 14 year old with scratches and so much love. Dr. R amazed us with his knowledge and ability to provide us tremendous emotional relief. Not only was my dog cared for, so were we! When we started crying from relief we were immediately provided tissues and offered water, snacks etc. We felt heard, hopeful, and most importantly supported. I cannot recommend these two and facility enough!!

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my dog to VEG early one morning and was seen immediately by Dr. R, whose calm, attentive approach put me at ease. Later that day, Dr. Goins was equally wonderful—patient, thorough, and thoughtful in making a plan. The next day, things worsened, and Naula was hospitalized overnight with Dr. Grossman. I cannot praise him enough—his knowledge, compassion, and clear communication gave us complete confidence. He truly stands out as one of the best veterinarians we’ve ever encountered, and I believe Naula turned the corner because of his care. One of the best parts of VEG is being able to stay with your pet overnight. The staff worked hard to make us comfortable in such a stressful time. The vet techs were incredible—Haley and Christian were kind and attentive, and Cara, who stayed with us overnight, went above and beyond with constant patience and compassion. What could have been a terrifying experience was made bearable by this extraordinary team. From the front desk to the doctors and techs, everyone treated us with kindness and urgency. I am so grateful to Dr. R, Dr. Goins, especially Dr. Grossman, Haley, Christian, and Cara for the exceptional care they gave both Naula and me. The front desk is also amazingly attentive.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve taken two stray animals here that were hit by vehicles and left in the street. Both times, although it was emergent, and they were not my pets, the staff made me feel valued as a Good Samaritan and person who is a lover of pets. They gave me the choice to stay with them during euthanasia of I feel comfortably doing so. The staff was also very informative in letting me know my choices regarding financial obligation and willingness to be present for all medical decisions should I choose to do so. They’re just such a great ER.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff at VEG really came through in my hour of need. And really it was not even an hour because my dog was treated almost immediately and we were in an out in 45 minutes! In that whole time they communicated with me and made sure I understood what was going on every single step of the way. I had arrived mid spiral (if there was a camera it would be all over the internet with middle age lady crashes out at vet.) So in addition to stabilizing my dog they stabilized me. I had been at another hospital that did not end up treating my dog prior to arriving at veg at 5 am. I was tired and cranky and hungry and really concerned about my pup. They assured me that they could still treat my pup for raisin ingestion even outside the optimal puke window. And they didn’t judge me for leaving the cookies where my dog could reach. It was an honest mistake and they didn’t make me feel guilty at all. I can’t recommend them highly enough and will go there for all future dog emergencies. Hopefully there will be none but one of my dogs is accident prone.

Experiencia fantástica: I took my dog to the emergency room he had a tick on him, from when I took him camping. The staff and nurses were so nice to me and my dog they took great care of him, we were in and out of the vet. They were very friendly and professional. Highly recommend this Emergency Vet.

Experiencia negativa: Went here after our shelter vet told us to bring in our neonatal kittens in because they were experiencing fading kitten syndrome. First question: How is this being paid? Great start. The doctor or tech that saw us had the worst bed side manners of any one I have every met. He did not give a shit about the kitten. Basically picked up the lethargic kitten like a rag doll and said something along the lines of "I feel like you guys want me to do something." Dude, you're the expert. We're here so you can help us. I get that vets may be pretty desensitized to this type of thing, but for christ sake have some professionalism. After asking another tech to help us out, he turned to another family with a dog being treated with a big "Ugh, sorry about that" as if our presence was a burden. If you go here to save your pet or foster, I hope you don't have to talk to the arrogant bald man with the mustache.

Experiencia positiva: My little old man was not feeling well and we were immediately seen by Dr. Cowan. Dr Cowan and Andrea were stellar!! They were both considerate and compassionate with my needs and the comfort for my senior dog. Unfortunately, Dr. Cowan had to help me make a difficult decision with my fur friend. Dr. Cowan and Andrea get 10 stars each. I am rating this business 4 stars bc one of the nurses was not as understanding to my comfort. I needed to step outside and while it may have been thoughtful to others, I did not need her to offer me a dog blanket or a phone charger. It was extremely difficult to see my fur friend in the hospital with tubes in him. I didn’t want to leave him but he was sleeping. Dr. Cowan stepped in and understood that I needed some time outside to think about my next steps. I would highly recommend Veterinary Emergency Group. I appreciate that Dr. Cowan walked me to the door and told me comforting words. Andrea was quick to respond and check in with me. I would have given this business 5 stars, however one nurse caused the less than stellar experience. One nurse lacked the words and considerations when interacting with people of color. “If you need anything, please ask- we can accommodate your needs “ or “Your fur friend is in good hands, we will keep you updated often so please stay close to your phone” would have been better options than the laughing tone, offering a dog blanket, and condescending comment about having a phone charger. I hope you receive this as a learning opportunity to read the room, be mindful of how your actions are received, maintain a respectful boundary and allow others to take the lead in areas that you are developing. I want to emphasize that Dr. Cowan and the receptionist Andrea went above and beyond to support me and my fur baby in this difficult time. They provided optimal care and treatment

Experiencia negativa: 0 stars if could be given. We walked in with my cat lethargic, crying and dehydrated. They immediately went to pricing before a diagnosis or treatment was even an option. $1600 literally just to see her and find out what was wrong. The least they could have done was given her an IV with some pain medication. These emergency vet clinics/hospitals prey on pet owners because its after 7pm. There was no real care given and its sad because these people are in the business of caring for animals. We ended up euthanizing her which they tried to charge $800 for the service and cremation. We have been here before and had a wonderful experience. Tonight was a totally different staff and unfortunately the experience was not good at all.

Experiencia fantástica: They were amazing!! I came in tears terrified for my dog’s life and I left still in tears-but of happiness. We were seen right away, ALL staff were friendly, and they didn’t make me feel ashamed of what I could afford to help my fur baby. Experiencia fantástica: I had dropped part of a dumbbell weight on my cat/Bubby's paw and was literally frantic overnight not knowing where to go and how I was going to afford this. I visited clinic day after accident and was confronted right away by staff with no appointment and given a private room for examination. They had quoted me an amount for which I new was going to be difficult paying and after explaining this to staff they had adjusted the original amount down to a more ideal figure that I could handle. Long story short, Bubby had 2 fractured rear toes and the staff was very affectionate and professional addressing all issues pertaining to bubby's needs as well as mine. Thank you to the staff from the bottom of my heart. I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone.
