MedVet Chicago: Opiniones
Experiencia fantástica: Super quick and super kind to myself and my pet. Never ideal to come in with a sick pet but they make the process a lot easier! Thank you!
Samantha, you’re right — it’s never ideal to need emergency care. We’re so glad our team could make a stressful situation feel more manageable through kindness and efficiency. Thank you for trusting us with your pet and for sharing your experience.
Experiencia fantástica: Everyone was so kind and thoughtful. Will definitely take my dog back here if we ever have an emergency again.
Jena, kindness and thoughtfulness matter deeply in emergency situations, and we’re glad you experienced that from our team. Knowing you would trust us again in an emergency means so much to us. Thank you for allowing us to care for your dog.
Experiencia fantástica: MedVet went above and beyond with their care for our 8-month-old puppy. Frankie had been sick with pneumonia for over 8 weeks, and our normal vet said they were out of options. We took her to MedVet, where they immediately were able to run tests on her and do a tracheal wash. We learned she had an antibiotic resistant infection and would need injectable antibiotics. Once again, MedVet went above and beyond in making sure Frankie got her injections every night. In just two weeks, her infection that had lasted months, had cleared. Thank you Dr. Teslenko, Dr. Lopez-Aldazabal, and every tech that worked with Frankie!
Rachel, eight weeks of pneumonia in a young puppy is exhausting and frightening, and we’re so grateful you brought Frankie to our team. Identifying the antibiotic-resistant infection and ensuring she received consistent injectable treatment takes coordination and dedication, and we’re thrilled to hear she’s doing so well. Thank you for trusting us with Frankie’s care and for sharing your appreciation.
Experiencia fantástica: We have used Med Vet in the past for surgery and rehab for our dog, and recently had to take our kitten to the ER at their new (to me) facility on California. We received the same great expert, loving care as we have known to trust. A clean state of the art facility, ample free parking, and most importantly educated caring staff- from the front desk, to the vet techs, doctors on call to the specialists- receiving the best care for our pets. That's the bottom line.
Cheryl, thank you for your continued trust in our hospital. It means so much that you returned to us for your kitten’s emergency care after previously trusting us with surgery and rehab for your dog. We’re grateful you experienced the same expert, compassionate care at another of our locations. Our team works hard to provide thorough communication and collaborative support across departments, and we truly appreciate your thoughtful recognition.
Experiencia negativa: I want to this hospital a little over a year ago because my dog was having issues breathing. The Docter there wanted to perform all sorts of test but she let it slip when she said that if they take a urine test it would Rule out 1 of 2 things that could potentially be wrong with my dog. So I said ok let’s do that test and put him medicine. She was admit that he needed both test even tho if 1 test is enough to see what is wrong with him. After arguing for like a jr we finally got the test they put my dog on a breathing treatment and before I left she says I need to keep him in the hospital for the breathing treatment over night but there is a big possibility that he won’t make it. I told her if it is a big possibility he won’t make it y would I leave him alone I rajarse have him at home with his loved ones. She was not happy and kept insisting to leave him she only cares about the money she gets and prays on people with sick animals. My dogs test came back positive for blasto so they gave him a 30 day medicine when I went to pick up the meds she was nasty saying that my dog has a very slim chance of surviving. After my meds team out I asked for a refill and they said they can not give me a refill unless I take him in for emergency again. The first time I paid $2000 and they tried to over charge me for test that I declined. Now they are saying I need to spend another 2k to get a refill prescription that is ridicules. I called abell animal hospital on northwest highway explained the situation they took me the same day and gave me a 2 month prescription for all under $200 a year later thank god my dog la test finally came back negative and she is doing great. Do not go to this hospital they pray on people your better off going to another emergency hospital.
Jose, we’re truly glad to hear that your dog is doing well now and that her most recent test was negative. Facing breathing issues and a serious diagnosis like blastomycosis is incredibly frightening, and we understand how overwhelming those conversations can feel in the moment.
When pets present with respiratory distress, our doctors often recommend multiple diagnostics because similar symptoms can stem from different underlying causes. Even if one test helps point toward a diagnosis, additional testing may be medically necessary to confirm it and guide the safest treatment plan. Hospitalization is sometimes recommended when there is concern that a patient could decline quickly, as continuous monitoring allows our team to intervene immediately if needed.
Prescription refills are also governed by medical standards and state regulations, which require an active doctor-client-patient relationship and appropriate rechecks before certain medications can be continued. These safeguards are in place to protect pets and ensure treatment remains appropriate as their condition evolves.
We never want any family to feel pressured, and we take concerns about communication seriously. If you would like to discuss your experience further, we encourage you to call our hospital and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team or email [email protected] so we can better understand your concerns. Most importantly, we’re very glad your dog is doing well today and wish her continued health.
Experiencia fantástica: From the very moment you enter this place, THEY'RE AMAZING!! We come from Indiana. The waitlist for Indiana Rad Onc was a few weeks. So we brought my dog, Blue, to MedVet Chicago Rad Oncology. Dr. Faletti and Nurse Meghan are sooo AMAZING AND THOROUGH, PATIENT, KIND, EMPATHETIC! We're very happy with his Treatment Plan. Any questions or concerns are addressed immediately. EVERY PET PARENT LOOKS FOR THIS TYPE OF CARE ❤️ THE ENTIRE STAFF IS AWESOME!! THANK YOU, MEDVET!! xoxo
Nadine, thank you for making the trip from Indiana and for trusting us with Blue’s care. We’re so glad you’ve felt heard, supported, and confident in his treatment plan, and we truly appreciate your heartfelt encouragement for our team.
Experiencia fantástica: I had to bring my cat here last night because it had become clear that he was at the end of his life. All the staff members who helped me could not have been kinder. Obviously it's never easy losing a pet, but they made things as comfortable for my cat and me as possible, they allowed me time to say goodbye, and they let him stay on my lap as he passed. I really cannot thank them enough for how they treated both of us.
Meredith, we are so sorry for your loss. Saying goodbye is heartbreaking, and we’re grateful you felt your beloved cat was kept comfortable and that you were given time and kindness during such a tender moment. Being able to hold him as he passed is so important, and we’re honored you trusted our team to walk with you through that goodbye. Our thoughts are with you and everyone who loved your treasured boy.
Experiencia fantástica: Had to take my dog in twice in one week for different issues. Although the wait can be lengthy, that’s to be expected just like you can wait at the regular emergency room for humans. The employees really seem to care, though. The check in people were kind and gentle. The doctor was extremely patient with me both times, explaining things in detail and listening closely. I really felt well taken care of.
Sarah, thank you for your thoughtful review and for trusting us twice in one week. We know emergency visits are stressful, and we’re grateful you felt cared for with kindness at check-in and patient, detailed communication from our team. Thank you for allowing us to support you and your dog.
Experiencia fantástica: We are very grateful for the excellent surgery and follow up care for our dog Molly. We chose quickly after a little research because of the severity of her TPLO injury and need for surgery. Dr. Galley was excellent and all of the follow up when we have had questions to resolve has been amazing. Thank you to the entire team.
Maria, thank you for your kind words about Molly’s surgery and follow-up care. Knee injuries are serious, and we’re so glad you felt confident in the surgical care and ongoing communication afterward. Providing excellent specialty surgery and attentive follow-up support is something our team is deeply committed to. We truly appreciate you trusting us with Molly’s recovery.
Experiencia positiva: My dog Zoie was treated here in September 2025. I’m only now writing this review because her loss has been incredibly hard to process. In May 2025, Zoie tested positive for Lyme antibodies at her primary veterinarian. At that time, we were told it was nothing to worry about and that many dogs never experience complications. In August, she began trembling and limping. We contacted her primary vet and were advised to monitor her temperature. When it was slightly elevated, we were told it was still within a normal range and that, as a large breed (bullmastiff), she may have injured her leg. She was prescribed carprofen and seemed to improve. By the end of September, she declined suddenly and severely. One day she would not get up, eat, drink, or move. We rushed her to the emergency veterinary hospital in Westville. Initially, based on presentation and history, there was concern for a possible torn ACL. However, after further testing, we received devastating news: Zoie had Lyme nephritis — a severe and often fatal condition that was attacking her kidneys. By the time we received the diagnosis, the damage was already significant. The Westville emergency hospital referred us to Chicago MedVet for more advanced care and potential treatment options. The team here was compassionate and upfront with us. They made it clear Zoie was in critical condition and did not give false reassurance. They acted quickly, explained the plan, and I truly believe they tried to help her. The staff was kind during an incredibly painful time. Zoie stayed hospitalized here for about five days. During that time, we were quoted approximately $30,000 for dialysis. I understand that advanced veterinary medicine is expensive and that the equipment, staffing, and level of care required are significant. However, when we expressed uncertainty about whether we could afford that amount, the tone of conversations felt noticeably different. It began to feel as though euthanasia was being presented as the most immediate and realistic option. When the conversation before was she may have a chance without the dialysis she would’ve just needed a critical care plan even when she got home. After speaking with family and arranging payment plans, we informed the team that we were willing to move forward. At that point, the outlook and tone shifted again, and there seemed to be renewed hope. The dialysis plan itself was also confusing. At different points, dialysis was discussed as an option here at MedVet, then later described as something that would need to be pursued at Purdue. It was unclear to us how beneficial dialysis would realistically be in Zoie’s condition, and the overall plan surrounding it felt inconsistent and difficult to fully understand. We were told communication had occurred with Purdue’s team and that her numbers were stable enough to go home briefly before transfer. Unfortunately, Zoie declined rapidly once home. When we arrived at Purdue, we were informed they had not received prior communication about her case and that dialysis was not available there at that time. Ultimately, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanize her. I do not write this to assign blame. I am grateful for the medical effort and compassion shown in many moments. I simply wish there had been clearer coordination, more consistent communication, and greater clarity surrounding critical decisions about her care. Zoie was deeply loved, and losing her at just three years old was one of the worst times in our lives
Emily, our hearts truly go out to you. Losing Zoie at just three years old, especially after such a sudden and devastating decline, is an unimaginable heartbreak. Thank you for sharing her story so thoughtfully. It’s clear how deeply she was loved.
We’re grateful you recognized the compassion and urgency our team showed during her hospitalization. When patients are as critically ill as Zoie was, recommendations and prognoses can evolve quickly based on lab values, response to treatment, and consultation with specialty services. Dialysis, in particular, requires careful coordination, availability of equipment and trained personnel, and ongoing reassessment of whether a patient is stable enough for transfer. These conversations can feel overwhelming, and we are truly sorry if at any point the communication felt inconsistent or unclear. That is never our intention.
We understand how difficult it is to process complex medical information while also facing emotional and financial decisions. Please know that euthanasia is only discussed when we believe suffering is significant or prognosis is grave, and never as a default based on finances.
If you would be open to it, we would genuinely welcome the opportunity to review Zoie’s medical record with you in greater detail, including the coordination surrounding dialysis discussions and transfer planning. Please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email [email protected] with your contact information so we can follow up directly.
Zoie’s life mattered deeply, and we are so sorry for your loss.
Experiencia negativa: They charge $18 for clipping of deceased animals hair. $45 for an imprint of the paw, $20 for nose imprint, all urns $200+ unless you want a plastic bag. Great workers and doctors tho The only reason I have 2 stars is because of Mike (intern I believe) I would give him 5 stars
Zane, we appreciate you sharing your perspective. We understand that end-of-life services and memorial keepsakes are deeply personal and emotional, and cost can feel especially heavy during those moments. Items such as paw and nose impressions, fur clippings, and urn selections are completely optional and offered through third-party memorial providers so families can choose what feels meaningful to them. We strive to be transparent about those options so families can make decisions that align with their wishes and budget. We’re grateful you recognized the dedication of our doctors and team during such a difficult time, and we remain committed to supporting families with compassion and clarity.
Experiencia fantástica: Everyone was kind and professional. The building is clean and orderly. We greatly appreciate the care that was given to our pup and us. ❤️
Nettie, we’re so glad you experienced kindness and professionalism and felt supported throughout your visit. Maintaining a clean, calm environment during stressful moments is important to us. Thank you for trusting our team with your pup.
Experiencia fantástica: We are so grateful for the incredible emergency care our boy Lion received at MedVet Chicago. Dr. Salerno was truly kind and compassionate, caring for Lion as if he were his own dog. He walked us through every step and made sure our boy got exactly what he needed during a very stressful time. We felt supported the entire way. The hospital staff was also very nice and patient, and the environment was clean and quiet. We will absolutely return if ever needed and highly recommend MedVet Chicago for emergency care.
Natalie, we’re so glad Lion received the attentive, compassionate care he deserved during such a stressful emergency. Knowing you felt supported every step of the way and that communication was clear and thorough means everything to us. Thank you for trusting our team with Lion’s care and for your heartfelt recommendation.
Experiencia fantástica: So I have been dealing with my cat's chronic rhinitis for 4 years now. I've seen 5 other vets for this and have tried at least 15 different medications and supplements. It is a very frustrating condition to treat and our house was covered in cat snot. Going to Med Vet was like a last shot hail Mary. I am so glad I did. They prescribed an inhaler for my cat and the changes have been amazing. My cat went from sneezing all day to sneezing maybe once or twice a day. They are very expensive but for me it was worth it to find something that finally works!
Karen, after four years of frustration and trying so many different treatments, we can only imagine how exhausting that journey has been. We’re honored you gave us the opportunity to help, and we’re so glad the inhaler has made such a meaningful difference for your cherished feline. Seeing improvement after so much trial and error is incredibly rewarding for both families and our team. Thank you for trusting us with such a complex condition.
Experiencia fantástica: Really friendly and helpful staff. Dr. Knox was both informative and reassuring. Also a huge plus that there was barely any wait to be seen by the staff as well as easy parking/spacious waiting area to keep my reactive dog away from other visitors.
Kimberly, we’re so glad to hear that you appreciated the friendly, helpful support from our team and the informative, reassuring guidance you received. We know how important it is to create a comfortable environment—especially for reactive dogs—and we’re happy the spacious waiting area and minimal wait helped make your visit smoother. Thank you for trusting us with your dog’s care.
Experiencia fantástica: Great service. I was seen quickly and the admitting vet provided all options and possible outcomes. Neurologist was very compassionate when delivering terrible news.
Heidi, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re grateful you were seen quickly and that all options and potential outcomes were clearly explained — especially in a situation involving neurology, where clarity matters so much. Delivering difficult news with compassion is something our team approaches with great care and respect. Thank you for allowing us to walk alongside you during such a challenging time. We’re honored to have been part of your beloved companion’s care.
Experiencia fantástica: I just wanted to take a moment and Thank MedVet for the exceptional care they provide. Shout out to Dr Niman in neurology you been taking care of Lucky since 2016,we will always be grateful for your knowledge, compassion and dedication to your patience.
Carolina, thank you so much for taking the time to share this heartfelt review. We’re truly grateful for the trust you’ve placed in our team over the years and are honored to have been part of Lucky’s care since 2016. It means a great deal to hear that the knowledge, compassion, and dedication you’ve experienced have made a lasting impact on you and your beloved companion. We’ll be sure your kind words are shared with our neurology team, and please know how much we appreciate you allowing us to be part of Lucky’s journey.
Experiencia positiva: Our 3 yr old Frenchie suddenly lost mobility in his rear legs and his ability to hold his urine and poop. We took him to MedVet because MedVet so happens to be the only level 1 Veterinary Trauma Center in Chicago and its super nice they are open 365days/24hrs, no appt needed. Upon walking in, we were greeted immediately. The facility was massive and clean. Just wish the parking lot was bigger. It can get crowded. Luckily there is free street parking available. The ER exam was about $200. After the exam, we were told he would need an MRI/Surgery. Now for the difficult part. We had to pay 10k upfront to book the appt for our dog's specific case and the remaining balance paid upon pickup of your pet. Unfortunately, MedVet does NOT do payment plans. But they do offer CareCredit and will gladly take however many credit cards you got to make that down payment. Luckily we have pet insurance, BUT, claims can only be paid from the pet insurance after you, the owner, pay the medical bills, in full, for your dog. So make sure you get your itemized receipts from MedVet and all doctors notes. After all that was handled, we were told our dog will be staying in the hospital. He was there for 4 days. There are very specific visiting hours. Dr Blumberg was friendly and thankfully, super thorough. The neurologist, Dr Niman, is truly a master of his craft. His expertise and precision are unmatched, especially when working on the "glass spines" of frenchies. Both doctors were phenomenal. You can tell it isn't just a job to them - it is their passion. Everyone at MedVet treated my dog with such care and gentleness, and thanks to Dr. Niman, my furbaby has regained full function of his pee/poop and his 2 back legs. Its been a month since his surgery and he is walking like he never had surgery. My husband and I will forever be grateful to the team over at MedVet. Regarding the rehab dept, when we picked up our dog 2 days after surgery, a gentleman from the rehab team took the time to personally demonstrate all of the post-op exercises using our dog as the model. He also provided us with a printed packet detailing the exercises for weeks 1-2, which we really appreciated. At our 2 week follow up rehab appt w/ Dr Gundersen, she was friendly and she did let us know that our dog was doing great after his re-exam. She mentioned that the new exercises for weeks 2-4 would be emailed to us. However, the exercises were not demonstrated during the visit and I had to request a printed copy before leaving. I was a little disappointed, as the hands-on guidance we received initially was very helpful and reassuring. Regardless... After the entire experience, we would not trust anyone else with our dog's "emergency" care - they have earned our loyalty for life.
Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review. Sudden rear limb paralysis and loss of bladder control is terrifying, especially in a Frenchie, and we’re so glad you were able to access immediate care when you needed it most.
As a Level 1 Veterinary Trauma Center open 24/7, our team is equipped to handle complex neurologic emergencies that require advanced imaging, board-certified surgical expertise, and around-the-clock hospitalization. We understand that the financial commitment for MRI and spinal surgery can be significant. Deposits prior to advanced procedures allow us to mobilize specialized teams, anesthesia support, surgical suites, and intensive monitoring immediately for each individual patient. We’re glad you were able to navigate that process and utilize your pet insurance, and we appreciate you sharing helpful tips for other families.
It’s wonderful to hear how highly you speak of Dr. Blumberg and Dr. Niman. Spinal surgery in brachycephalic breeds requires precision and experience, and we’re thrilled your pup has regained full function. Seeing him walking as if he never had surgery is exactly the outcome everyone hopes for in these cases.
Thank you as well for your feedback regarding the rehabilitation follow-up. Hands-on demonstrations can provide valuable reassurance, and we appreciate you sharing that perspective as we continually aim to provide clear guidance during recovery.
Most importantly, we’re so happy your dog is home, active, and enjoying life again. Emergencies like this are overwhelming, and we’re honored you trusted our team with his care.
Experiencia fantástica: We ended up at MedVet when our 4 year old ShihTzu broke his front leg. The staff was amazing. They got us into triage to give him pain meds immediately. Because it wasn’t a life threatening injury, we had to wait after that but they kept checking on us to see how he was & gave him more pain meds when he needed it. Dr Billy met with us to discuss treatment after doing x-rays. He casted his leg & scheduled surgery for us - it had to be 2 days later as it was a Friday. Dr Cryer performed his surgery and kept in touch with us before and after to give us updates. Again the staff was amazing! They kept us up to date on his progress and assured us that he was doing well. We were sent home with PT exercises and medication and lots of info on what to expect and how to manage his recovery. I can’t thank Drs Billy and Cryer and MedVet techs Kay, Jaz and PT tech Madelyn for everything they did for Hank. We were a mess when we brought him and they helped us almost as much as Hank. I would recommend MedVet whole heartedly! Just understand that it is an ER (like a human hospital only not as large a staff) so if your pet doesn’t have a life threatening condition (seizure, heart attack, etc) expect to wait a few to several hours. But don’t think they’ve forgotten you - just ask & they’ll get your furry loved one (or you) whatever is needed - with calm, caring understanding. They all love pets too!
Terri, thank you for taking the time to share Hank’s story. A broken leg is painful and frightening, and we’re so glad he was triaged quickly and made comfortable right away. It means a great deal that you felt supported throughout the process, even during the wait, and that our team continued monitoring his comfort while prioritizing life-threatening emergencies.
We’re grateful our doctors could guide you through the imaging, casting, and surgery plan with clear communication before and after the procedure. Orthopedic injuries require careful coordination, and we’re so glad Hank’s surgery and recovery plan were handled smoothly. It’s wonderful to hear that our team helped you feel informed and reassured along the way — caring for families is just as important as caring for the patient.
Your understanding of how emergency medicine works truly means a lot. Our team works tirelessly to prioritize the most critical patients while ensuring every pet is monitored and supported.
Most importantly, we hope Hank continues healing beautifully and is getting back to his happy, active self. Thank you for trusting us with his care.
Experiencia fantástica: They saved my dogs life. Thank you so much doctors nurses and staff
Patrick, hearing that means everything to our team. There is nothing more meaningful to us than knowing your dog is here and doing well. Moments like that are why our doctors, technicians, and support team dedicate themselves to this work every single day.
Thank you for trusting us when it mattered most. We hope your dog is continuing to recover and enjoying many happy days ahead.
Experiencia negativa: Really dumb to require payment in advance for a specialist appointment scheduled 6 weeks later and then send me an automated text to leave a review of how pleased I was for your care of my pet that you haven’t yet seen. Although I do anticipate quality care when it actually happens.
K R, thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand how frustrating it can feel to be asked for payment in advance for a specialist appointment scheduled weeks out, and we appreciate you taking the time to voice that concern.
We also want to clarify that our review requests are generated automatically after a visit has taken place. They are only sent to clients whose pets have been seen by our team. Because of that, we’re concerned to hear that you may have received a review request prior to your appointment, as that would not align with how our system is designed to function. We would genuinely like to look into this to ensure everything is working correctly and that no communication errors occurred.
If you’re willing, please call our hospital and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team so we can review your account and confirm what may have happened. You may also email [email protected] with your contact information, and we will ensure it reaches the appropriate team. We appreciate your anticipation of great care, and we look forward to providing you and your pet with the experience you expect when your appointment takes place.
Experiencia negativa: Went last night because my dog had a lump in her neck, popped up quickly, was at Med Vet in ten minutes. Front end staff was kind of apathetic waited 35 minutes before we saw the triage nurse Stephanie and she was absolutely awesome then another 35 minutes for Dr young. Dr young was nice But spent probably five minutes with our dog came back saying it might be an abscess talking about 600 to check her out then said like we will do a CT scan and surgery looking at 10 - 13000. Luckily my wife has been in this position said we can wait for our normal vet at 9 AM. Came to our vet in the morning the doctor came in and in 5 minutes poked the abscess (which the MedVet team could have done) and got a treatment plan. All the medicine X-rays surgery (that medvet wanted 13000) for 1039. Yah their model sucks.
Jason, we understand how frightening it is to see a lump appear suddenly and rush in worried about what it could mean. When something changes that quickly, it’s natural to fear the worst, and we’re glad you sought care right away for your dog.
In emergency medicine, our doctors evaluate based on what is known at the time of the exam and the potential risks involved. A rapidly developing neck mass can represent a range of conditions — some relatively straightforward, others more serious or life-threatening. Advanced imaging such as a CT scan is sometimes discussed when there is concern about deeper involvement, airway compromise, or surgical complexity. Estimates are provided to outline possible diagnostic and treatment paths, and we do not proceed with services without client approval.
That said, we never want families to feel that options weren’t clearly explained or that recommendations were excessive. It’s encouraging to hear your dog was able to be treated promptly by your family veterinarian, and we truly hope she is recovering well.
Our emergency and specialty teams undergo extensive additional training so they can evaluate complex and urgent presentations around the clock. Recommendations are made with patient safety in mind, not with financial motivation. We’re sorry that your experience left you feeling frustrated. If you would like your visit reviewed or have questions about the recommendations provided, you’re welcome to call 773.281.7110 and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email [email protected] with your review and contact information so it can be directed appropriately. Your decision to seek immediate care shows how much you care about your dog, and that truly matters.
Experiencia fantástica: Had a great visit with the eye specialist Dr. Smith and Tara at MedVet. They spent lots of time with me and my dog who has SARDs, explaining the diagnosis and all the options very clearly and with empathy and compassion. They made difficult news easier to hear. Highly recommended.
Anthony, thank you for sharing this thoughtful review. We’re so glad you appreciated the time and care our ophthalmology team provided while discussing your dog’s SARDs diagnosis. Receiving difficult news is never easy, and it’s important to us that families feel fully informed, supported, and heard. We’re grateful you felt clarity and compassion throughout your visit, and we truly appreciate your recommendation.
Experiencia fantástica: My dog was seen by Dr. Smith in ophthalmology. Dr. Smith was detailed and clear about next steps for monitoring my dog’s eyes.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re so glad you appreciated the detailed and clear communication during your dog’s ophthalmology visit. Making sure you understand next steps and feel confident in the plan is incredibly important to our team. We appreciate your trust.
Experiencia fantástica: I felt like my puppy was in the best care for emergency care than some human emergency care they communicated with me about what she ate and told me what symptoms are. I was scared before we got there when we left i was much better I thought I was going too loose my 6 month old puppy who was abused twice before she was 3 months old.. thank You doctor and your employees
Dave, thank you for trusting us with your precious six-month-old puppy. Walking into an emergency hospital scared and unsure is overwhelming, especially after everything she has already been through. We’re so glad you felt reassured by the time you left and that our team communicated clearly about what she ate and what to watch for. Providing thorough explanations and helping families feel informed during emergencies is incredibly important to us. Thank you for your kind words — we’re grateful your sweet girl is doing well.
Experiencia fantástica: TL;DR caring, patient staff, comfortable waiting area, came in way under estimate in THIS situation. Cat ate a plastic ribbon, had to go to an emergency clinic and follow up with MedVet for stomach sugery. Their estimate was slightly more affordable than comparable pet hospitals and they were able to see me same day (would have seen me the night before, chose not to). They were very fast and efficient as ER visits go, but my cat was also marked level 2 of 3 importance. They take the pets back to do vitals and tests, and in my case I was separated from my cat until I was leaving. He was kept in back and staff came to the waiting room for intake and brought me to exam rooms to talk about more private specifics. The staff were very helpful and understanding and patient. After agreeing to the surgery I was given time in back to say goodbye as they over nighted him for surgery. I was kept up to date with phone calls as shifts changed and new doctors took over and the surgeon started work. I got a call first thing to let me know my cat had done great and that he would be ready after an observation period. At pick up everything was quick, but staff took time through email and face to face explanation to make sure I understood all after care and had a game plan. They gave us everything we needed, including a disposable carrier since I forgot mine, and have been great at checking and being available for all my concerns in the two weeks since. No one wants to have to go to an animal ER, but MedVet does a great job making you comfortable, and has staff that truly care while maintaining professionalism.
Christopher, thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed experience. We know how frightening it is when a beloved cat needs emergency surgery, and we’re so glad you felt supported throughout the process. From same-day availability and clear estimates to regular updates between doctor shifts and thorough after-care instructions, our goal is always to make a stressful situation as organized and transparent as possible. We’re especially grateful you noticed the follow-up and continued communication after discharge — that ongoing support matters deeply to our team. We’re so glad your cat recovered well, and we truly appreciate your trust in us during such an important time.
Experiencia fantástica: Med Vet provided exceptional care to my dog who needed emergency life saving surgery - they saved his life and explained everything very clearly. They even had someone in the waiting room who checked on our well being during the surgery as it was clear we were very worried. The surgeon and staff were incredibly caring and kept us up to date throughout the post op period. Yes MedVet is expensive but the care you receive is incredible and we are forever grateful.
Natalie, what a relief to hear your dog is doing well after such a serious emergency. Life-saving surgery is never something a family expects, and we’re so glad our team could walk you through every step with clarity and compassion. Supporting families during surgery—especially checking in on you while you waited—is part of caring for the whole experience. Thank you for trusting us in such a critical moment and for sharing your gratitude.
Experiencia fantástica: From the minute I arrived I felt welcome and in good hands. The Vet tech was amazingly warm and friendly. The Cardiologist , Dr Anna Reuter, thoroughly explained everything. When I was home I completely knew how to help my pup. MedVet Chicago has been my go to emergency and specialty office for over 10 years.
Carol, it means the world to hear that you felt welcome and in good hands from the moment you arrived. Having a cardiology visit can feel overwhelming, and we’re so glad you appreciated the warmth of our team and the thorough explanation from our doctor so you felt confident helping your pup at home. Your loyalty over the past 10 years truly honors our team. Thank you for continuing to trust us with your dog’s emergency and specialty care.
Experiencia fantástica: Brought my dog here for a cardiology consult after our vet discovered a heart murmur. Excellent experience with both Anna and Dr. Pelzek. It was easy to schedule an appointment and I got in quickly, the process was very organized, and they took plenty of time with us and explained things in a way I could understand. They provided the quote for the consult in advance, and the pricing was clear and spot on. I feel like we are in great hands!
Meaghan, thank you for your thoughtful review. We’re so glad your cardiology consult was organized, clear, and reassuring, and that you felt fully informed about pricing and next steps. It’s wonderful to hear you feel confident and in great hands—that’s exactly what we hope every family experiences.
Experiencia fantástica: whole staff was very attentive despite being the end of the day on a friday. made my options clear & collaborated with me. very thankful that my little guy is feeling better!
Thank you for your kind words. We’re so glad our team was attentive, collaborative, and clear about your options—even at the end of a busy Friday. Most importantly, we’re happy to hear your little guy is feeling better.
Experiencia fantástica: On time for finnley's heart exam. I thought they were very thorough and on point with giving me the results of the tests-Everything is in Laymans terms when it's important to completely understand your dogs hearts function. First time in this building and it is set up very nicely, especially for dogs who can be a little reactive to their environment. I will travel Three hours round-trip for this great specialty hospital.
Laura, thank you for such a thoughtful review. Clear explanations — especially when it comes to something as important as heart function — matter so much, and we’re glad everything was communicated in a way that felt understandable and thorough. We also appreciate you noticing the layout of the hospital and how it supports dogs who may be reactive. Traveling three hours round-trip is no small commitment, and we’re truly honored by your trust in our team.
Experiencia fantástica: We were grateful for the candid and compassionate consultation that Dr. Faletti provided, after she examined our cat. We left with a clear understanding of his condition and the confidence to be decisive about treatment. When the outlook is very bad, it’s important to have clarity.
Adam, thank you for your thoughtful words. When the outlook is serious, clear and compassionate communication is essential, and we’re grateful you felt supported in making an informed decision for your cat. Providing clarity during difficult moments is something we care deeply about.
Experiencia positiva: Super costly and when we brought our cat home (who wasn’t sick, just ate something she should not have), my other 2 cats got sick with a GI bug that our other vet said we most likely brought home from this place. So they clearly aren’t too clean behind scenes. Took a non sick cat in, the problem wasn’t fixed, super high bill, brought home a sickness that turned into more of a nightmare than our initial visit to MedVet.
Audrey, thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand how frustrating and stressful it can be when a visit doesn’t resolve the issue as expected and when additional illness follows. Cleanliness and infection control protocols are taken very seriously in our hospital, and we work diligently to maintain a safe environment for every patient. Because we can’t evaluate medical specifics publicly, we would welcome the opportunity to review your experience more closely. If you’re open to it, please consider calling and asking to speak with a member of our leadership team, or emailing this review and additional details to [email protected] so it can be directed appropriately.
Experiencia fantástica: I brought my 60 pound dog in when she got into some canine aspirin and then in the middle of the night started puking and whining. Since her stomach was already empty, there wasn’t much they could do to detox her. They could only prescribe prophylactic medication and And have her return two more times to check her blood work for indication of any damage to her kidney liver or stomach. Fortunately, everything worked out well. The staff was courteous and helpful.
Jim, thank you for bringing your dog in so quickly and for trusting our team during a very concerning situation. When toxic exposures occur overnight, our priority is to assess risk, support the body proactively, and monitor closely so any complications are identified early. We’re so glad everything turned out well and appreciate you sharing your experience and kind words.
Experiencia fantástica: My pride and joy 12 year old cat had been having recent medical issues and took a downhill turn over 48 hours. I had original made the decision to put her down the following day, but when I saw how much pain she was in that night I rushed her to their clinic. She was quickly diagnosed with DKA diabetic Ketoacidosis. Which was a shock considering she had seen other vets and was never diagnosed . The staff, nurses and doctors were so kind and understanding and ensured me that I was making the right decision. The wrapped he in a nice warm towel and wheeled her in on a cart to a quiet room for me to say my good byes . After it was done the nurse , placed her in the box , drew a heart with her name on it and walked out to my car with her. They made a difficult expiernce much easier. It was just the little things like taking care of the billing in the quiet room, so I didn’t have to do it at the reception desk after the deed was done. It was tough but the understanding and compassion made it much easier on me. Than you soooooo much and little #3 thanks you too
Clem, we are so deeply sorry for the loss of your treasured companion and are honored that you entrusted our team to care for her during such a heartbreaking moment. When a beloved cat declines so quickly, our priority is to act promptly, explain what we’re seeing with clarity, and support families as they face incredibly difficult decisions — always with gentleness and respect for the bond you share. It means so much to hear that the small, thoughtful details, the quiet space, and the compassionate guidance helped ease even a small part of such a painful goodbye. Thank you for sharing your experience and for allowing us to care for your sweet girl with dignity and love — our hearts are with you.
Experiencia negativa: My dog has received care from oncology, neurology, rehab, critical care, and surgery. Aside from Oncology, The staff and experience in the other departments is nothing short of wonderful, and the staff & doctors are fantastic - nothing short of 5 star. Aside from Oncology,MedVet provides excellent specialty care. MedVet oncology… it’s the complete opposite The “bed side manner” of the oncology technicians I have interacted with has been extremely poor, and the treatment we have received reflects the fact that MedVet maintains an effective monopoly on veterinary cancer treatment in Chicago. There is a consistent pattern which reflects poorly on their willingness to take proper care of my dog. Most recently.. At my senior dog’s most recent CT scan, drop off was at 8am, and he was not taken in for anesthesia till around 3:30pm. He was discharged within 1.5 hours or so. Typically, my dog walks out of anesthesia after staff have monitored him. This time, he was plopped on to my car while still barely conscious. I recognize that vet care is a very tough profession, and I have gratitude for those that do an excellent job in tough circumstances. The rest of MEDVET does do an excellent job.
Svamal, thank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback and for recognizing the care your dog has received across multiple specialty services — we know how much trust and emotional energy it takes to walk this journey with a senior companion, and your advocacy truly shows how deeply you care. Oncology care can involve complex diagnostics, anesthesia, and coordination that sometimes result in longer procedural timelines, with our team focused on patient safety, appropriate monitoring, and timely discharge once a patient is medically stable. We’re truly sorry to hear that this experience felt different from what you’ve come to expect, particularly surrounding communication and recovery, as every patient and family deserves consistency, professionalism, and compassion at every step. We appreciate both your kind words for our teams and your willingness to share concerns, and if you’re open to continuing the conversation, we would welcome the opportunity to listen further — you’re welcome to call and ask to speak with a member of the leadership team or email [email protected] with your review, contact information, and any additional details so it can be directed to the appropriate team.
Experiencia fantástica: I unfortunately had to put my baby down today. As soon as you walk in you can tell they care. From the beginning to the end of the process I felt the kindness of the staff. They made it easy to go through this and more comfortable by providing a private room for us to say goodbye to our baby. Even while explaining the process and giving us time to say goodbye they were very understanding and showed us compassion. They gave us all the time we needed and ensured me my baby frodo would be in a better place. It was not easy to do but they also showed my baby some love before she passed and that's the type of empathy that I love when I go to vets. It meant a lot to me that through all this my baby was given all the love from me and the friendly staff here. Thank you for making a already hard task a little easier for me through the process.
Xitlalic, we are so deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved Frodo, and we’re honored that you entrusted our team to walk with you through such a painful goodbye. Saying farewell to a treasured companion is never easy, and our team’s priority in those moments is to create a calm, private, and compassionate space where families can move at their own pace, ask questions, and feel supported every step of the way. It means so much to hear that Frodo was surrounded by love, gentleness, and dignity, and that you felt cared for throughout the process — those moments matter deeply to us. Thank you for sharing Frodo with us and for allowing us to support you during such a tender time; please know our hearts remain with you.
Experiencia fantástica: We had an excellent experience as first time patients. Dr. Salerno was compassionate, personable and knowledgeable. We were impressed with the care we received and our dog was feeling better by the next day. The whole staff made us feel like our family was in good care. Although you never want to need an emergency vet, we are grateful to have a ER vet we trust near by.
Kate, thank you for sharing your experience and for trusting us as first-time patients. We’re so glad to hear that you appreciated the compassionate, knowledgeable care your dog received and that they were already feeling better the next day. Knowing your family felt confident and supported by our team truly means a lot, and we’re grateful to be an emergency resource you trust when it matters most.
Experiencia negativa: Just a note for your staff, your letter explaining you could save my cat if I had more money would be more effective if you didn't repeatedly get his sex wrong in that letter after charging $250 to examine him. Don't worry, we did still have to put him down but at the very least we were able to do so somewhere that actually looked at him rather than just at our wallets.
Grace, we are very sorry for the loss of your cat and recognize how painful that experience is. Our doctors and team enter the veterinary profession to help pets and their families through the most difficult moments, and discussions around treatment options are shared with care and respect, never with financial judgment. We regret that this experience added to your distress and wish you peace as you grieve your loss.
Experiencia fantástica: My cat needed a very delicate surgery and I asked my vet, what's the best place I can take him? She recommended MedVet Chicago. I am so thankful to the team here. The facility and staff are outstanding. Truly "human ER" level of care. The surgeon did a consultation with me prior to the operation. The clinicians, surgeon, and other doctors made multiple calls updating me with his status during his stay. Plus they also followed up post-op after he was home. He was monitored 24/7 in house for several days after completing the surgery. I could not recommend them more. I drove from NWI and would tell anyone to do the same if the care your guy needs is beyond the scope of your local vet. It's truly being at a hospital dedicated for animals. I am impressed by the whole setup and so thankful to for places like this existing. Your pet is in stellar hands here!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for trusting our team with your cat’s care. We’re truly glad you appreciated the thorough consultation, ongoing communication, and around-the-clock monitoring provided throughout such a delicate surgery and recovery. Being a dedicated emergency and specialty hospital allows our doctors and clinical teams to work together closely, provide continuous oversight, and support pets and their families before, during, and after treatment. It means a great deal to know you felt informed and supported every step of the way, and we’re honored you would recommend our hospital to others seeking advanced care for their beloved companions.
Experiencia fantástica: Fast and engaging service. Really cares for my pet. Makes sure I fully understand my pets issues and options. Update: 2 years later and my fur baby is better and well taken care of. Still personable. Still great care and service. Update: 1 year later and I can't say enough. The staff is attentive and pays attention to detail. My fur baby has been seizure free since 12/23. Dr. Neiman listens to my concerns and makes adjustments. His medication has been reducing over time and I can see the difference in his mobility and personality. Dr. Neiman treatment plan makes me feel confident we're on the right track. I drive over a hour to Medvet and it's worth it.
Thank you, India, for taking the time to share your experience at MedVet Chicago! We're thrilled to hear that you found our care fast and engaging. Our team is dedicated to providing compassionate care, ensuring you fully understand your pet's health, and exploring the best options for their wellbeing.
If you ever have more questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out. We appreciate your trust in us and look forward to continuing to care for your pet.
Experiencia fantástica: Referral for cardiology for older dog with murmur for echocardiogram and consult. Highly professional and efficient. Excellent explanation of findings with treatment plan clearly delineated. Very thorough and professional. Highly recommend.
Cheryl, thank you for trusting our team with your faithful dog’s cardiology care. We’re glad you appreciated the professional, efficient visit and the thorough explanation of findings with a clearly outlined treatment plan, and we’re grateful you felt supported and well informed throughout your beloved companion’s consult.
Experiencia positiva: Great customer service. Dr was exceptional. The only concern I have is the pricing of the meds. I was charged over 400.00 for meds that can be purchased, with prescription, on Amazon for just over 40.00. That’s a 100% mark up.
Marion, thank you for your feedback and for recognizing the exceptional care you received from our doctor. Regarding medications, pricing can vary significantly between medications dispensed directly through a hospital and those filled through outside pharmacies or online retailers due to differences in sourcing, storage/handling, dispensing requirements, and pricing structures. When appropriate, we’re happy to provide a prescription so families can compare outside pharmacy options, while also recognizing that some families prefer the convenience of filling medications directly through our hospital at the time of care. If you’d like to discuss your specific concerns, please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email your review and contact information to [email protected] and I will ensure it reaches the appropriate parties.
Experiencia fantástica: Words cannot express our gratitude to the entire Medvet Chicago staff and especially Dr. Wyatt. Medvet Chicago was recommended to us by our veterinarian after Bluepearl Northfield left us feeling helpless that our 11.5 year old pup could not be saved. We met with Dr. Wyatt for a surgery consultation and a week later our pup had successful liver tumor removal. Dr. Wyatt was very knowledgeable, kind, patient with all of our questions and has given us more time with our pup. We were extremely apprehensive about the surgery and the staff at Medvet were patient and very responsive to our calls. Our pup is healing wonderfully and is almost 100% back to his pre-tumor self. Medvet is reasonably priced and transparent about pricing. We 100% recommend Medvet and from our experience, it is clear they genuinely care about saving pets.
Marta, thank you for sharing such a meaningful update about your sweet senior pup. We’re grateful you trusted our team after such a discouraging experience elsewhere, and we’re glad you appreciated the thorough, patient guidance and responsive communication throughout the process. It’s wonderful to hear your beloved companion’s liver tumor surgery was successful and that he’s healing so well and nearly back to his pre-tumor self. We’re honored to be part of his healthcare team and grateful you recognized the transparency and care our team strives to provide every step of the way.
Experiencia fantástica: I’ve taken my Doberman there twice for cardiology and the staff is always extremely nice and friendly! Dr. Luethy is thorough in his explanations and makes sure you understand everything.
Risa, thank you for trusting our team with your treasured Doberman’s cardiology care. We’re glad you appreciated the kind, welcoming support from our team and the thorough explanations provided by Dr. Luethy so you could feel informed and confident in your beloved companion’s care.
Experiencia negativa: My Dog had pain in his face, could not open his mouth, andwas not eating. I was taken in quickly and then the doctor told me that he would need to sedate my dog in order to do a full exam of his mouth and I agreed. I was told it would take an hour or so. I was there nearly 6 hours. I got a different story about the delays each time I insisted on talking to a medical person re: Shiloh's condition and progress 3 different times as the hours passed and what the last person had said had not been done. First of all, I should not have had to insist that someone update me every hour or so throughout the day and into the evening. But the people who did talk with me (never the doctor) could not explain what they had just said when I asked for clarification. Over all the communication was terrible. After 5 hours they told me that they had sedated my dog intravenously but there was no doctor available due to being understaffed and some emergencies. SERIOUSLY! My dog is lying there, unconscious and no one is attending to him? They said his blood work was stable and I could wait another two or more hours or they could give me pain killers and some antibiotics and send him home. It was now 6PM and there was a blizzard. I elected to take him home and told them I needed a new bill since half of what they estimated had not been done. I have dog insurance and they are asking MedVet for more details about the final bill and reasons for treatment. It has been 48 hours and they have not responded to Trupanion. I am sorry to have to write this because in the past MedVet has been my rock through 3 other dogs but this was some of the worst service I have ever had anywhere in my lifetime of owning dogs.
Lulu, we understand how distressing it is to wait for updates when your beloved companion is unwell, especially during severe weather conditions, and we regret that this experience felt overwhelming and frustrating for you. Our team’s priority is always the safety and wellbeing of each patient, and decisions around sedation, monitoring, and next steps are made carefully and based on real-time medical needs across the hospital. While emergency and specialty hospitals can experience shifts in timing due to the unpredictable nature of urgent cases, patients who are sedated are continuously monitored and not left unattended, even as teams manage multiple critical needs, we always have someone with our patients monitoring their vitals.
We also want to be clear that treatment plans and any changes to them are discussed with and approved by pet families, and billing reflects the care that is ultimately provided. Regarding insurance documentation, our teams regularly work with insurance partners and respond with the appropriate clinical details as requested. Trust in those caring for a family member is essential, and we understand how important clear communication is in building that confidence. We believe a direct conversation with our leadership team would be the most appropriate way to review your concerns in detail and provide clarity around your experience. Please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or you may email [email protected] with your review, contact information, and any additional details so it can be shared with the appropriate parties. We remain committed to supporting you and Shiloh and wish him comfort and continued healing at home.
Experiencia fantástica: I had to bring my dog in for emergency care when he had a vomiting/seizure-like episode. The staff was extremely patient and kind and very understanding of how I felt as a pet-mom in a scary situation. My pup stayed overnight and I got to see where he’d be staying before I had to leave him. There were plenty of people around, leaving me assured that my baby would be under great care and surveillance during his stay, and the doctors kept me updated with multiple calls throughout his visit. I do not have any prior experience with taking my pet to an emergency vet before this, so I cannot gauge the price I paid vs. any other emergency pet hospital, but given the circumstances, it was right around the price I imagined I would have to pay. (The staff was upfront with a quoted price based on the recommended care before administering any tests.)
Aracelli, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We know how scary it can be when your dog has a sudden emergency, and we’re so glad you felt supported by our team throughout his overnight stay. We appreciate you highlighting the compassionate care, transparent communication, and attentive monitoring your pup received—especially during such a stressful time. It means a lot to know you felt confident and reassured while he was in our care. We’re grateful you chose us to help him when he needed it most.
Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommend! My dog ate rat poison and MedVet treated her quickly and with great care. Everything was clearly explained to us and the staff made us feel very comfortable despite the stressful situation.
Daniel, we’re so glad you appreciated the prompt, attentive care your beloved dog received after ingesting rat poison. Emergencies like this can be incredibly stressful, and we’re thankful our team could provide the treatment and clear communication you needed. We appreciate your recommendation and are always here when your pet needs us.
Experiencia fantástica: I needed a cardiology consult for my dog and was able to get an appointment within a week.
Thank you, Kathleen. We’re so glad you appreciated how quickly we were able to schedule your dog’s cardiology consultation. Timely access to specialty care is one of the many ways we support pets and their families, and we’re grateful you chose us to be part of your dog’s care.
Experiencia fantástica: Good experience for emergency pet care. Staff was knowledgeable, service was timely and price was what I expected for a 24/7 ER visit. Nurse Stephanie was so patient with our grumpy cat and he tolerated her better than most.
Rhonda, thank you for the kind words about your emergency experience. We’re so glad you felt our team was knowledgeable, compassionate, and patient with your cat. We’ll be sure to pass along your appreciation to Stephanie.
Experiencia positiva: Treatment was extremely expensive. Doctor was thorough but never got back to me. With test results when I was waiting So impatiently and nervous, I called after, not hearing from them For 2 days. And they said the doctor wasn't there. And I would have to call back on Monday So I literally had to wait 5 days for test results, when I was a nervous rack. When the doctor had told me the test results would be back the next day.
Myra, we understand how stressful it is to be waiting for test results, especially when you're worried and were told to expect a quicker turnaround. While timing can vary depending on the type of test and lab processing, it's our responsibility to set clear expectations and maintain communication along the way. We're sorry this didn’t happen as it should have, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention. If you'd like to discuss your experience further or share additional details, please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email your review and contact information to [email protected] so we can ensure your concerns are heard and reviewed appropriately.
Experiencia fantástica: Took my 6 month old kitten here after waking up one morning and seeing a pin sticking out of her leg from a previous surgery, a very scary image. Rushed her to MedVet. They took her back almost immediately, made sure her vitals were good, they contacted the vet that did the surgery to get records, were honest about pricing and made sure to let me know before continuing with care. I was able to ask all the questions I needed. Everyone was very patient, kind and caring from the front desk to the triage nurse to the vet that saw her. They also take Care Credit which is big for me since vet bills can be expensive. Hopefully I won’t need to be back anytime soon but if I need to this is the emergency vet I would go to!
Lina, thank you for sharing such a detailed experience. Seeing something unexpected like that can be terrifying, and we’re glad we could evaluate your kitten quickly, coordinate records, explain options clearly, and keep you informed every step of the way. We truly appreciate your trust and are honored to be the emergency hospital you’d choose again if ever needed.
Experiencia negativa: I took my dog Fendi in to see the Neuro team had a great visit, but my dog is still not cured. We made an appointment to see the Optometrist on Friday. Checkout was great no issues. Friday, we had a great visit with the Optometrist, but again my dog is still having Episodes (unknown). Checkout was horrible! Ashley CSR and Michelle CSS were very RUDE! The amount of money it cost to bring your pet to MedVet, this should never be experienced from their staff. I wish I had another facility to take Fendi to treat her illness. I never want them ladies to talk to me ever! Please beware of the two Grinch Michelle & Ashley!
Tierra, we understand how discouraging and emotionally exhausting it can be to continue searching for answers when your dog is still experiencing episodes, especially after multiple specialty visits. Our team’s goal is always to provide thorough evaluations, clear communication, and thoughtful next steps, and neurological and ophthalmic conditions can sometimes require ongoing investigation before a definitive diagnosis or resolution is reached. We’re saddened to hear that your checkout experience left you feeling frustrated, as respectful communication is important to us at every point of care. Because your feedback raises concerns about both communication and your dog’s ongoing symptoms, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly, listen more closely, and better understand your experience so it can be reviewed appropriately. If you’re open to it, please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team or email [email protected] with your contact information and any additional details so we can follow up thoughtfully.
Experiencia fantástica: Good people good facilities and processes. We needed TPLO on our Golden and got two opinions since it was an important endeavor. We went with medvet because of their overnight hospitalization monitoring, on-site PT before discharge, and included follow up visits (minus x-rays which is fine). The other place didn't include sling and such, plus follow-up visits and we were worried if there were complications we'd have to transfer her. In the end I think the price would have been the same. Peace of mind is worth the money.
Kevin, we know how important a decision surgery can be, and we’re glad our team could provide clarity and peace of mind as you weighed your options. Around-the-clock monitoring, coordinated services, and follow-up care are all part of ensuring the safest possible outcome. Thank you for trusting us with your Golden’s care and recovery.
Experiencia fantástica: We've visited MedVet multiple times with a variety of issues for our dog and they have been outstanding. They are able to see us quickly, clearly outline our options and pricing and take amazing care of our dog. Our dog is also reactive and they've been more than accommodating to ensure she has a good experience. Can't recommend enough!
Kerry, thank you for trusting our team over the years. We’re so glad you appreciated how clearly options and pricing were explained and how thoughtfully your dog’s needs were handled.
Experiencia fantástica: A very caring Medical Pet Hospital that keeps you informed about your pet’s health. The options if needed are explained and easy to understand. They offer the best health results for your pet.
Janis, thank you for your thoughtful review. We’re so glad you appreciated how clearly our team communicated about your pet’s health and treatment options. Making sure families feel informed, supported, and confident in the care decisions they’re making is always a priority, and we truly appreciate your trust.
Experiencia fantástica: The vets, techs and staff at MedVet are so kind and professional. And they work hard to get everyone seen as quickly as possible. My lab ate a grape late on a Saturday night, and they had him vomit it up right quick. Don’t drop grapes if you have dogs, folks! They are bad news.
Stephanie, thank you for the thoughtful review — and the important reminder about grapes! We’re so glad your Lab received prompt care and that everything was handled quickly and clearly during a stressful moment.
Experiencia fantástica: Staff and nurses were super kind and caring. They were great about updating me on my pup during her time there. Highly recommend Medvet for any medical emergency your pet may be experiencing!
Aylin, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re so glad you appreciated the kindness from our team and the regular updates while your pup was with us. Keeping pet families informed while providing attentive care is always important to us.
Experiencia fantástica: Cannot say enough nice things about our experience at MedVet!! We came in on New Year’s Eve with a coughing Chihuahua. We were getting ready to fly out the next morning for vacation and were worried that something was wrong. We ended up not having to even wait very long and they were able to ultrasound him very quickly and give him a clear bill of health so we felt comfortable leaving him with his uncle so we could go on vacation. They didn’t try to oversell us on anything. They said we could wait for x-rays, but they felt comfortable with us seeing our normal that when we got back, which is exactly what we did. Thank you to everyone at MedVet!! We have told everyone we can about what a great experience this was. The entire staff just knocked it out of the park!
Brooke, thank you for such a thoughtful review. We’re glad our team could quickly evaluate your Chihuahua, provide reassurance, and help you feel confident in the plan moving forward—especially with travel ahead. It means a lot to hear that the transparency and approach were helpful, and we truly appreciate you sharing your experience with others.
Experiencia fantástica: Everyone at Companion is incredibly helpful, informative, and patient. They are helping us get our cat back to feeling 100% and have been very attentive and flexible!
Edie, thank you for your kind words. We’re glad our team has been able to support you and help your beloved cat on the path to feeling better. It’s important to us that families feel informed, heard, and supported every step of the way.
Experiencia fantástica: We received excellent service for our wonderful cat Tabby. A very sad condition was made as good as possible by your wonderful Dr. and staff. Thank you.
Bruce, thank you for your kind words. We’re honored to have been able to care for Tabby during such a difficult time and to support your family with compassion and clear communication. Please know our team truly cares about both our patients and the people who love them, and we’re grateful you trusted us with Tabby’s care.
Experiencia negativa: We received unclear instructions with respect to follow-up treatment, diet instructions following the appointment. We were charged for a fecal exam, where we should receive results within 48 hours, and we’re essentially told that the team lost the fecal sample and could not give us conclusive results. We called various times to follow up about the results of the exam and received rude, dismissive answers before being told they lost the sample. Do NOT send your pet there. What makes it worse, is that there are people whose pets’ conditions were more acute who are entrusting this unprofessional team with the wellbeing of their pets.
Santos, thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We understand how upsetting it is to leave an appointment with unanswered questions—especially when it involves follow-up care, diet guidance, and pending test results for your pet.
We want to be clear that our team’s intent is always to provide clear communication, accurate diagnostics, and timely follow-up. We take reports of missing test results or unclear instructions very seriously, as this is not the experience we strive to provide and does not reflect our standards of care or professionalism. That said, care decisions, diagnostics, and follow-up recommendations are carefully documented and communicated, and any breakdown—whether administrative or informational—deserves review and clarification.
Because we cannot discuss medical details publicly, we strongly encourage you to contact us directly so we can look into your pet’s visit, review what occurred with the fecal test, and address the communication concerns you described. A direct conversation allows us to ensure accuracy, provide clarity, and answer any remaining questions you may have. You’re welcome to call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or you may email your review, preferred contact information, and any additional details to [email protected], and we will ensure it reaches the appropriate parties.
We know how much trust it takes to place your pet’s wellbeing in a medical team’s hands, and we value the opportunity to address concerns directly and thoughtfully.
Experiencia negativa: How do you not have a receptionist to check people into the cancer center?!? I am paying THOUSANDS of dollars to sit in the lobby and wait for someone to come out and check and see who’s here every 30 minutes. This place is printing money. Hire a receptionist. The girl told me word for word “the app doesn’t notify us when you guys get here” Love this place and everything they’ve done for my dogs, but this is flat out absurd. People are standing at the desk pissed off
John, thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for your continued trust in our team. We understand how frustrating that situation felt, especially when you were there for specialty care. On that day, front-desk coverage was temporarily limited, which affected the check-in process. Your feedback was shared directly with our leadership team, who are actively working to strengthen coverage and fill open positions to help bridge gaps like this moving forward. While our priority is always the care and monitoring of patients in our treatment areas, we also recognize how important timely communication and check-in support are to the overall experience. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and for trusting us with your beloved dogs’ care.
Experiencia fantástica: Great experience, Dr. Leuthy explained everything clearly concerning our cat's diagnosis and treatment plan. Facility was pleasant and staff members were professional and courteous.
Windy, thank you for choosing us to care for your beloved cat. We’re so glad you appreciated the clear communication around their diagnosis and treatment plan, as well as the professionalism of our team. We know how important it is to feel informed and supported, and we’re grateful you trusted us with your family. Please know we’re always here if you need us.
Experiencia fantástica: We’ve been to medvet many times, we have 3 dogs. We’ve had overall had good experiences but this last time Dr Blumberg took care of our dog Oliver and he was truly the nicest vet, really took time to genuinely listen and understand what’s going on even in an ER setting. Very transparent with pricing as well. He made a hard visit much more bearable!
Emily, thank you for trusting our team with Oliver’s care, especially during an emergency visit. We’re so glad you appreciated the time Dr. Blumberg took to truly listen, walk through your concerns, and clearly explain both care options and pricing. Even in an ER setting, taking time to understand each patient matters deeply to our team, and we’re grateful you felt supported during a difficult visit. We appreciate you choosing us to care for your family, and we’ll always be here for Oliver and your dogs if you ever need us again.
Experiencia fantástica: I have immense gratitude for the care and expertise of MedVet. They have helped me with several pets, always providing the highest level of care. They clearly communicate everything you need to know, including treatment plans, cost, and the best way to ensure the health of our pets. They also have outstanding specialists for specific issues, and they really support wonderful care of all their clients at every step of the way.
Katherine, thank you for your continued trust and kind words. We’re honored to have cared for several of your beloved companions and are so glad our clear communication, treatment planning, and specialty support have made a positive impact for you and your pets.
Experiencia fantástica: MedVet Chicago took such incredible care of my pet and my family during an emergency visit. All options were presented kindly and compassionately. Their care for my pet was unmatched and their kindness to me in a difficult time was so greatly appreciated. Thank you to the entire MedVet team, from the doctors and vet techs to the front desk team.
Kyle, thank you for your thoughtful review. We’re glad our team could support both your pet and your family during such a difficult emergency and provide clear, compassionate guidance throughout the visit. Being there for pet families during challenging moments is at the heart of what we do, and we truly appreciate your trust.
Experiencia negativa: We brought our pup here a couple days ago and he was found in his room panting and throwing up everywhere and he couldn’t walk and we brought him here for emergency check out and they told us within 20-30 minutes he was paralyzed and the mri is 7,000/8,000 dollars and the surgery was another 6 or 7 thousands more and she told us our only option if we can’t pay is euthanasia because even if we did the mri and surgery he might not recover and we were torn by this because we only brought him in to be fixed all up and take him back home and because this was all so abrupt and fast we were in even more shock and they told us to take our time to make a decision and so we tried to but about 1-3 times someone walked in within 15 minutes asking if we had made a decision yet that’s not something you can make that quickly and in the end we ended up choosing to put him down from the way they explained to us that he would always be in pain there was no way of therapy or putting him in a wheelchair and we found that off because for one the price was insane and two we know personally some animals who’ve been through worse and lived a good happy healthy painless life with medication and therapy but we accepted it who wouldn’t it’s the vets orders it’s her opinion why wouldn’t we believe her and then after everything we called a couple places did research the normal price for a mri for a dog his size was 3,000 she overquoted us an insane amount of 14,000 for the surgery and mri which again we did think was weird but we’re in shock so had no idea to think of that and then we found multiple of our dogs breed who have had the same thing happened to them and with therapy they live happy carefree painless lives with a caretaker which we would’ve gladly done if we were told this I’m deeply disappointed in finding all this out because now we feel we gave up on him too early because somebody else didn’t know what the prices actually were and if they are they’re this way overpriced so truly my family is torn and broken we had a make a decision someone told us was the only way just to find out it wasn’t if you want to get a better chance of your animal getting better evaluated please think of where you go first because we thought this place would be his savior and in the end they weren’t because of Inaccurate information i admit they’re were a couple of vet techs their that were as sweet as possible but knowing the vet’s decision most likely knowing he could’ve survived and lived a happy life being disabled but didn’t believe it was possible when it’s more then possible and we had to find out AFTER he was already gone so med vet thanks for nothing.
Harlie, we are deeply sorry for the loss of your precious boy and for the heartbreak your family is carrying. Making an end-of-life decision during a sudden neurologic emergency is one of the most painful experiences a family can face, especially when everything happens quickly and emotions are raw. We want you to know that nothing you shared suggests a lack of love or effort on your part — bringing your beloved companion to MedVet reflects your deep commitment to him, and had the prognosis been more hopeful, we know you would have pursued every option available. Our doctors and team members enter the veterinary profession out of a sincere commitment to protecting patients from suffering and supporting families through impossible decisions, and every neurologic situation is different, with recommendations guided by the patient’s presentation at that moment, diagnostic findings available, and what is medically appropriate and humane. Advanced diagnostics and surgical options are discussed transparently so families can understand the full scope of care being considered, and estimates reflect the resources, staffing, monitoring, and specialty expertise required if those options are pursued. These conversations are never intended to rush or pressure families, and we agree that the decision you made, though incredibly difficult, was an appropriate and compassionate choice to end the suffering of your treasured companion. We understand how painful it is to learn later that other outcomes may exist in different circumstances, and we recognize how that can add another layer of grief and questioning. While we cannot discuss medical specifics publicly, we would genuinely welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly to review what was shared, answer questions, and help provide clarity around the recommendations that were discussed, as we hope a conversation may bring understanding and some measure of comfort during your grieving process. If you are open to it, please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team or email your review, contact information, and any additional details to [email protected]. We remain committed to supporting families during the hardest moments of loving a cherished companion, and our thoughts remain with you as you grieve your beloved boy.
Experiencia fantástica: We had an extremely scary night first night home with our new cat Lucy and without MedVet, it would have been a nightmare. Even though her problem was minor compared to some other pets in the waiting room (one of her eyes was swollen shut and causing her a lot of pain), Nick - the triage nurse we talked to - was an absolute saint. So caring and patient and reassuring. He even sent us home with a cone and some eye lubricant for free, no exam fee required. Sometimes all you need as a new pet owner is someone who really knows their stuff being available and kind and that’s exactly the experience we had. Oh, and it was New Years Eve on top of all that!
Ethan, thank you for sharing Lucy’s story. Those first nights with a new cat can be especially scary, and we’re so glad Lucy could be seen and made more comfortable during such a stressful moment — especially on New Year’s Eve. She was clearly very loved, and our team wanted to make sure both of you felt reassured and supported. Knowing that you left feeling cared for and informed truly means a lot to us. Please give Lucy a gentle hug from our team.
Experiencia fantástica: Got right in and they were so caring and nice. Treated my dog quickly and assured we were comfortable. I do hope I never have to go back.
Kat, thank you for your kind words. We’re glad our team could care for your dog promptly and help you feel comfortable during your visit—even though we know emergencies are never something anyone hopes for. We are glad we could be there for you and your family.
Experiencia fantástica: When visiting Chicago my Schnauzer became I'll. As I had no knowledge of vets in the area I opted to take the dog to MedVet. They were efficient, polite and caring and ensured I left with a thorough understanding of the problem and medicine to handle the problem. I would use them again.
Susan, thank you for sharing your experience while visiting Chicago. We’re glad our team could provide timely, compassionate care and ensure you felt informed and comfortable with your pet’s treatment plan. Knowing you would trust us again means a great deal, and we appreciate you taking the time to leave such kind feedback.
Experiencia positiva: I brought my cat to MedVet Emergency Care because she was very sick and not eating. The staff recommended X-rays, blood work, and a urine test. I agreed to everything, and thankfully all the results came back clean. I am genuinely grateful for that, and I do trust the medical side of the care, even though the test reports were not shown to me. However, what happened afterward was extremely upsetting and disappointing. When my cat was brought out, there was a strong, awful smell coming from her crate. When I got home, I discovered that my cat was completely covered in her own feces and diarrhea—her body, fur, and crate were soaked, as if she had bathed in it. My entire apartment smelled of feces. I understand emergencies happen, and I had no issue paying the $1,300 bill if it meant helping my cat. But basic cleanliness and compassion should be part of care. At the very least, my cat should have been cleaned before being handed back to me. This experience left me feeling sad and heartbroken. I expected better professionalism and dignity for my pet, especially at an emergency facility.
Hamza, we’re truly sorry for how distressing this experience was for you and your treasured feline, and we appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback. Please know that it is never our intention to send a beloved companion home in that condition, and this is not reflective of the level of care and dignity our team strives to provide. Emergency and specialty veterinary settings can be stressful for pets, and despite every effort to keep patients calm and comfortable, stress-related accidents can unfortunately occur. That said, if our team had been aware of this before discharge, they would have absolutely ensured your cat was cleaned up and would have communicated with you directly. We regret that this was not identified and addressed before she went home, and we understand how upsetting that must have been. We truly value your trust in our medical care and would welcome the opportunity to review this further so we can learn from it and continue to improve. If you’re willing, we encourage you to call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team or email [email protected] with your review and any additional details so it can be shared with the appropriate team. We hope your cat is feeling better and continuing to recover.
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing service, caring doctors and staff. Every single person we came across was amazing. Our dog needed life saving surgery after another dog attacked him. Dr. Knox was wonderful at admission, Dr. Wyatt was an amazing surgeon, Dr. Pearson and Dr. Delgado were loving and caring critical care doctors. The ICU staff (Margaret, Autumn amd Molly) were taking care of our dog as if he were their own. We strongly recommend this place for any of your pets needs.
John, thank you for such a heartfelt and detailed review. We’re incredibly grateful for your trust during such a critical time for your dog, and we’re so glad our team could provide the skilled, compassionate care he needed. Your recommendation means more than you know.
Experiencia fantástica: Excellent vets and excellent care for the animals in the part of all the staff. Have no qualms about leaving your pet there…..they will care for him/her as though he/she were theirs…..really! Lots of places say that but here it’s real.
Marietta, thank you for such meaningful words. Treating every pet as if they were our own is something our team truly believes in, and we’re grateful you felt that level of care.
Experiencia fantástica: Most amazing emergency vets and staff. They essentially saved our girl Charlie’s life this weekend. Will always be so grateful for Dr. Cohen especially, she was simply amazing and we could not have asked for a better person to get us and Charlie through a terrible weekend. THANK YOU!!
Clare, thank you for sharing such heartfelt words. We’re grateful Charlie received the care she needed during such a difficult weekend and appreciate you trusting our team during that time.
Experiencia fantástica: Referred by our vet to MedVet for sensitive surgery. Staff was friendly and professional. Explained everything clearly. Took their time with us. We’ve been here before and highly recommend.
Bill, thank you for your continued trust and for sharing this recommendation. We’re glad our team could take the time to explain everything clearly and support you through such an important procedure, and we truly appreciate your confidence in our care.
Experiencia fantástica: My dog was taken care of perfectly. Many tests were performed to figure out the problems that were showing. Of all the tests performed they figured it all out. Now is on a sorted out path to live a normal life. Will need a life long medication. Was given a coupon to reduce the costs and the pharmacy that had it the cheapest. Saved a ton of money. Will definitely remember this experience.
Paul, thank you for such a thoughtful review. We’re glad our team could thoroughly investigate your dog’s symptoms, clearly explain the findings, and help set a long-term plan that supports a good quality of life. We also appreciate you recognizing the effort to help manage costs, and we’re grateful you trusted us during such an important time.
Experiencia negativa: I brought my cat in on a Saturday night after some behavioral changes and vomiting. They explained he had an "upset tummy," did x-rays, and focused on foreign material in his stomach they believed they saw in an x-ray. (Other doctors looking at the same x-ray didn't see anything problematic.) When I brought him back Sunday morning for follow-up x-rays, they hadn't identified an acute condition, but suggested keeping him overnight and doing an ultrasound Monday morning for an estimated $4000 (in addition to the $1500 I had already paid so far). That's more than I could afford, the vet became defensive when I said I wanted to check with my own vet, and ridiculed me for worrying that the overnight stay could be stressful for him. She also said if I took him home and he started eating without vomiting, he was fine and I should cancel my appointment with my regular vet. He did start eating without vomiting, and I mistakenly believed their advice that that meant he was going to be ok. They didn't give him fluids either time, despite noting that he was dehydrated. Ten days, 2 vet visits, and an ultrasound later (for $700), it's not clear he's going to survive acute kidney failure. The combination of their focus on the phantom "foreign material" in his stomach, their exorbitant prices, and their bad advice about what to watch for at home delayed his getting a proper diagnosis, and may cost his life. You should know that other ERs have much better vets at half the price. Perhaps more disturbingly, a vet who cared would have told me where I could go to get care I could afford; MedVet's vets didn't.
Genie, we take reviews like this seriously and want to address your concerns clearly and responsibly. When cats present with vomiting and behavioral changes, our doctors must evaluate for a range of potentially serious conditions, including foreign material, gastrointestinal obstruction, and systemic illness, using the information available at that moment from physical exams, imaging, and diagnostics. Recommendations for hospitalization, advanced imaging, or continued monitoring are made when there is concern for conditions that may not yet be fully apparent but could become life-threatening if missed, and those options are discussed so families can decide how they wish to proceed. Our team does not discourage families from consulting their primary veterinarian or seeking care elsewhere, and we are saddened to hear that our communication during these discussions felt dismissive or disrespectful, as that is not reflective of how our doctors and team strive to support families during difficult decisions. As an emergency and specialty hospital, our role is to outline medical concerns, explain risks and options, and provide transparent estimates for the level of care required, while respecting that financial limitations may influence next steps. We strongly disagree with the implication that our team does not care for animals, as our doctors enter this profession out of deep commitment to their patients and work tirelessly to help them, often in complex and uncertain situations. Because medical specifics cannot be appropriately reviewed in a public forum, we encourage you to contact our hospital and ask to speak with a member of the leadership team or email [email protected] with your contact information so this visit can be reviewed in full and your concerns addressed directly. We truly hope your cat receives the care he needs and is able to recover.
Experiencia fantástica: First time at Medvet and everything went well! Staff was very polite and medical team was very thorough and took the time to explain everything and even gave some recommendations on discharge papers. Highly recommend. My dog was here for an MRI
MarieLynn, thank you for sharing your first experience with us. We’re glad everything went smoothly and that our team took the time to thoroughly explain your dog’s MRI and home care recommendations, as clear communication and thoughtful specialty care are very important to us. We truly appreciate your recommendation and trust.
Experiencia fantástica: The stuff at MedVet was very professional and attentive to my cat’s need. They took care of us right away. Of course, they were expensive, but which emergency visit is not, and I actually paid less than what I was expecting.
Nayla, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad our team could provide prompt, attentive care for your cat and that the visit felt transparent and manageable. Emergency situations are never easy, and we’re grateful you felt supported and well cared for while your cat was with us.
Experiencia fantástica: Our Cavalier King Charles dog has been going to Medvet Neurology since we first had them diagnose her disease, Syringomyelia with Chiari Malformations. Our first neurologist was great but then retired several years ago. Since then, we are seeing Dr. Gonzalez, who is an exceptional doctor as well as being kind and gentle. The neurology staff has been wonderful as well. I heartily recommend their services if your pet needs to see a neurologist. This is never an easy thing to do, but Medvet Neurology will provide great treatment and ease your fears.
Pamela, thank you for your thoughtful and detailed review. We’re honored to support your Cavalier’s ongoing neurological care and are glad you’ve felt comforted by the consistency, expertise, and compassion provided by our neurology team. Managing complex conditions can be overwhelming, and we truly appreciate your trust and recommendation.
Experiencia fantástica: We had an emergency visit and follow-up cardio appointment — all the staff were incredibly kind, empathetic, detail-oriented and thorough in their care. Couldn’t recommend enough.
Zoey, thank you for such kind words. We’re glad to hear that both your emergency visit and cardiology follow-up felt thorough and supportive. Providing thoughtful, detailed care while treating families with empathy is very important to our team, and we appreciate your recommendation.
Experiencia fantástica: Our otherwise young and healthy dog suddenly went into shock and started having seizures. It was terrifying. We drove him to MedVet and they literally ran out to get him and take him to the ER, and within a few minutes they had him stabilized. Within a few hours they diagnosed Addison’s Disease. Within two days we had him home again, still a pretty sick dog, because you don’t bounce right back from this, but on the mend. Totally kind, great communication, and they saved his life. Take your pet there if you have an emergency. They are the best. In terms of cost, I think they are expensive, but not overpriced. I don’t think there are a lot of budget pet emergency services.
Elena, thank you for taking the time to share this experience. What you went through was terrifying, and we’re so grateful our team could act quickly to care for your beloved dog when every moment mattered. Stabilizing him, finding answers, and guiding you through such a frightening situation is something our team takes very seriously. Knowing he’s home, recovering, and that you felt supported through clear communication and compassion truly means so much. Thank you for trusting us during such a critical moment for someone you love so dearly.
Experiencia fantástica: They saved my cats life. When she came in she way dying from acute heart failure but they admitted her quickly and brought her back from the brink. They were extremely communicative the whole time and always available to answer my questions.
Anna, thank you for sharing this update — we’re so relieved your sweet girl recovered after such a critical emergency. Our team was honored to help stabilize her, communicate with you throughout, and support both of you through such a frightening time. We’re grateful you placed your trust in us.
Experiencia fantástica: I cannot say enough positive things about this place. Came here after seeing another oncologist for years (at Blue Pearl) that was honestly, consistently pretty traumatizing and they let my dog’s health fall into the gutters. The staff at MedVet immediately recognized the dire state my dog was in and could not have been more compassionate with the care, explanations, and options they provided. Unfortunately we came here too late - his cancer advanced too much and he’s now on end of life care - but I’m so happy we’re doing that here. They understand the struggles, broken hearts, and hard decisions that have to be made and meet it with compassion and care. They have their pledge up on the wall and I have found these words to be true with every interaction with MedVet. A big thank you to MedVet for your commitment to your values and for the investment you’ve clearly made to ensure your staff embody them, it makes a world of difference. I’m paying the same out of pocket that I was at the other place, but the care and experience - the efficiency and cleanliness of the office - night and day.
Sarah, thank you for taking the time to share this and for trusting our team during such a tender and heartbreaking chapter. We are truly sorry that your sweet boy’s cancer had progressed so far, and we’re honored that we could walk alongside you and him with compassion, honesty, and care as you focus on comfort and quality of life. Your boy matters deeply, and our team is committed to meeting pets and their families with empathy, clear communication, and respect—especially when the decisions are hard and the hearts are heavy. We’re grateful that our approach, our environment, and our values helped bring you some peace during such an emotional time. Please know we are holding you and your beloved companion in our thoughts and are always here to support you.
Experiencia fantástica: It's been a rough day for my family as we had to bring our beloved dog Sammy here this morning to be euthanized. Though all the staff were very kind and caring, I'd like to specifically thank Dr. Teslenko and Tekiyah (sp?) for their compassionate and gentle care during this difficult time. It's hard to go through but it helps a lot when those providing the care have the utmost respect and kind spirits for the pets and people involved. Thank you so much.
Jessica, our hearts go out to you and your family as you grieve the loss of your beloved Sammy. Saying goodbye is one of the hardest moments a pet parent faces, and we’re deeply grateful that you trusted us to care for your beloved companion during such a tender time. It means so much to know that our team brought comfort, gentleness, and respect to your final moments with Sammy. We’re holding you in our thoughts and are here for you.
Experiencia positiva: Have had mixed experiences with different animals in emergency over the years so 1 star removed. FIVE STARS for Dr. Niman (Neurology) and his staff who have been treating my now old guy for years and keeping him with us. They have gone beyond what is expected including tracking down lower cost pharmacies to Dr Niman catching (and treating) health issues not related to the specialty. Can't say enough good things about the guy - he's our hero.
Pam, thank you for your thoughtful review and for sharing your long-term experience with us. We’re truly grateful for your kind words about Dr. Niman—he and his team care deeply about every pet they treat, and it’s wonderful to hear how much he’s meant to your precious boy over the years. We appreciate your feedback and your trust.
Experiencia fantástica: An ER vet is never an enjoyable experience given the circumstances yet MedVet Chicago is a fantastic local option for emergency needs. The waiting area is large if your pet is more reactive to others, the staff is helpful and kind.
Thank you, Brian. Emergency visits are never easy, and we’re grateful you felt supported by a kind, knowledgeable team during a stressful time. We appreciate your trust in us for your pet’s urgent care needs.
Experiencia fantástica: MedVet Chicago has been instrumental in treating our fur baby, specifically their Cancer Center. Everyone we interact with is incredible and compassionate, and at a time when you really need it. Could not recommend them more.
Angela, thank you for this generous review. We’re honored to support your beloved companion through cancer care and are grateful to know our team’s compassion has made a difference for your family. Your recommendation means so much.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr.Grabar was the kindest most caring vet I have worked with in years. Even though it was time for my 14 year old Hana to cross over, Dr.Grabar gave me confidence and compassion in making the right decision for my furbaby. Thank You.
Tarah, we are deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved Hana. Thank you for sharing your experience during such a difficult time. Our team understands how hard these moments are, and it means a great deal to know you felt supported with compassion and confidence in the care she received. We’re holding you in our thoughts and are here for you.
Experiencia fantástica: Cardiologist, Dr. Luethy and staff are amazing. I have been going to this clinic for several years, even though I live in the south suburbs. Top notch care for my dog, Madison. 12/25 Now Dr. Luethy did it again, with my 4 month old puppy who had multiple issues with her heart. He acted quickly and now she will be a normal dog. He is an excellent, compassionate cardiologist.
Thank you, Michelle, for your kind words for Dr. Luethy and his team. We'll let them know about this message. Give Madison a few extra pets from us!
Experiencia fantástica: I fully trust the veterinarians and staff at MedVet Chicago. They are brilliant, compassionate and I have never felt I was steered wrong regarding their care. Their parking is very accessible and I like their check in routine. I highly recommend!
Carol, thank you for this thoughtful review. It means a great deal to know you trust our team’s expertise and compassionate care. We appreciate your recommendation and are grateful for the opportunity to care for your beloved companion.
Experiencia fantástica: I have trusted MedVet when my pets have become seriously ill. They have always been compassionate, professional, extremely competent, and transparent about the cost of care. They provided loving care and gave me very clear instructions on how I care for my recuperating pet at home. I highly recommend MedVet.
Jim, thank you for sharing this thoughtful review. We’re grateful for your trust in our team during your pets’ most serious moments. It means so much to know you felt supported through compassionate care, clear communication, and thorough home care instructions. We appreciate your recommendation.
Experiencia fantástica: The neurology team has always been great and attentive to my boy Percy! He's always excited to go in when we roll up for his biannual checkup. As you can imagine neurology work can be expensive but I've always been given an estimate of costs before work is done which is good.
Diego, thank you for sharing your experience with Percy. We’re glad to hear he feels comfortable and excited when he visits—our team truly loves seeing him. We appreciate your note about estimates as well; keeping families informed before moving forward with care is very important to us. We’re grateful for your trust and look forward to continuing to support Percy’s wellbeing.
Experiencia fantástica: Came in at 1:30am after our dog had his first ever seizures. The staff, doctors, nurses were all very sweet and attentive. We were there for 3 hours, but they always checked in with us every 20 mins and just made us feel very comfortable in such an uncomfortable/scary situation. Very impressed by everyone on the team. Thank you!
Taylor, thank you for sharing your experience. We know how frightening it can be to see a dog have seizures, and we’re glad our team was able to help you feel supported throughout the visit.
Keeping families updated is incredibly important to us, and it means a lot to know those frequent check-ins made a difference during such a stressful night.
We appreciate your trust and wish your dog continued healing.
Experiencia negativa: The reception at MedVet was non existent. When you are bring a sick dog into their facility, expect a friendly greeting. The tech/assistant , Kenny, who brought me into the room was unfriendly, not caring/empathy. Just walked around with his iPad talking money!!! I was very put off, expect more out of MedVet. The doctor at least was a bit attentive giving me the bad news.
Terry, we’re sorry to hear that your visit felt distressing, especially while you were worried about your beloved companion. Our goal is always to welcome families with kindness and ensure they feel supported from the moment they walk in, so it’s concerning to hear that this wasn’t your experience.
Our team members review medical and financial information early in the visit so we can be transparent about recommended care, answer questions, and ensure families feel empowered to make decisions. That said, compassion and communication should always remain at the center of those conversations.
We’d appreciate the opportunity to learn more about what happened and offer support. Please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email [email protected] with your contact information so we can connect directly.
Experiencia fantástica: Sadly I’ve bought all of my pets here because of the special services that they offer. But it has been a GREAT comfort knowing that the answers you get a solid because of the special skill and technology that you can’t get from your vet. So for PEACE of MIND. I don’t mind when it’s recommended to go here and sometimes pay for what you get.
Electra, thank you for sharing this and for trusting our team with the care of your beloved companions. It means so much to know you find comfort in the specialized diagnostics, advanced technology, and experienced doctors available here. Peace of mind matters deeply during stressful moments, and we’re grateful for your confidence in our team.
Experiencia negativa: On 11/14 I brought my dog, to Medvet ER in hope of seeing a neurologist and get further imaging. Our dog was a previous neurological patient of MedVet. The previous day Jackson had experienced a sudden and disabling pain in his hind quarters. After waiting a bit, Jackson was able to see a vet and was examined. When the DVM returned from the examination, it was explained to me that the cause was suspected arthritis. I pushed back on this since it made no sense that there would be such a sudden onset of debilitating pain from arthritis. I asked if further imaging could be done (MRI or CT) and was told a neurologist would not be in a hurry to see him. A few days later our pup became incontinent and we made an appointment with a neurologist at MedVet. We watched our dog deteriorate further so we to drive him2.5 hours to UW Vet ER where they had no problem admitting him to the hospital, do an MRI, and emergency back surgery. Mind you their hospital was AT CAPACITY and a neurologist was called in to do a consult after normal hours. So incredibly disappointed in the way Jackson was dismissed at MedVet.
John, we’re very sorry to hear how difficult these past few weeks have been for you and for Jackson. Sudden changes in mobility are frightening, and we understand how upsetting it is when a beloved companion’s condition worsens.
While we don’t discuss patient-specific medical details publicly, we do want to clarify how our emergency and neurology teams work together. In our hospital, each patient is medically assessed and treated based on the level of urgency and the information available at that moment. Advanced imaging such as MRI or CT is recommended when a doctor’s clinical findings indicate that it is medically appropriate and safe to proceed. Neurologists also triage patients according to urgency, and imaging is typically performed once a neurologist determines that it is warranted and beneficial for the patient’s care plan.
We’re truly saddened to hear that Jackson’s condition progressed, and we’re grateful he was able to receive the care he needed. Our team is committed to supporting pets and their families, never dismissing concerns, and always making recommendations based on medical judgment and patient wellbeing.
If you would like to talk more about Jackson’s visit or review his records together, please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team. We are here to support you and want to make sure all of your questions are answered.
Experiencia fantástica: My dog Bebe was recently diagnosed with T-zone lymphoma/leukemia. Dr. Mia explains every test result clearly, answers all my questions with patience, and truly takes the time to make sure I understand Bebe’s condition and next steps.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re so glad to hear how supported you felt as our doctor walked you through each part of Bebe’s diagnosis. Clear communication is such an important part of helping families navigate complex conditions, and it means a lot to know you felt heard and understood. We’re honored to be part of Bebe’s care team.
Experiencia fantástica: I can only speak to Medvet’s oncology department, but they are wonderful. Kathy at the front desk is always so welcoming and was a saint when my dog Zoey got sick in the lobby after her last chemo appointment. Dr. Byrum and Kelsey are a fantastic oncology team and did everything they could to make a negative experience positive. I never felt pressured to go a certain route with Zoey’s chemo, and they were very sympathetic and kind when she inevitably stopped responding to her treatment. The space itself is also very large and not over crowded at all, nice and bright lighting which helps when you end up spending a great deal of time at the vet. While Zoey unfortunately succumbed to her lymphoma last week, she lived for 2.5 years after her diagnosis thanks to the oncology team.
Tom, thank you for sharing this beautiful update about Zoey. We are deeply sorry for your loss. She was clearly so loved, and it means a great deal to our entire oncology team that they could help give you more meaningful time with her. We appreciate your kind words about Kathy, Dr. Byrum, and Kelsey, and we’re glad you felt supported, understood, and never pressured while navigating her treatment. Thank you for trusting us with her care over these past years. Please know we’re thinking of you and are here for you if you ever need anything.
