Experiencia fantástica: After years of not getting answers from our regular vet, the knowledgeable and professional vets at AVES was a welcome relief! I may have to sell a kidney to pay for it, but am happy we found a solution for my dog’s ongoing issues.

Experiencia fantástica: Took our pup here for an oncologist consult. Dr. Stein and staff were very caring and professional. Our boy, sadly, was too far gone. These people responded to us quickly and professionally when we had questions and I would highly recommend their services to anyone that needs them.

Experiencia fantástica: After our cat, Charlie, was diagnosed with probable cancer, we were referred to Dr Dolan, a renowned oncologist at AVES, which is located north of Austin. We live in SW San Antonio, a 2-hour drive each way, so that was a bummer. But once there, the staff were friendly and courteous, and even offered us coffee! Speaking of friendly, our vet tech, Barbara, was very nice and made us feel comfortable before Dr Dolan came in. And when HE came in, he immediately began explaining kindly to us what's going on with Charlie, and what we'll be facing with her cancer. He also informed us of our options, in terms we understood, so we could make an informed decision about her care. In short ... GO THERE!! If you want to really know and understand your pet's cancer, Dr Dolan will get you there. He spent a good 45 minutes with us and made sure we were 'in-the-know' before leaving; and I really appreciated that. So, yes ... you can feel VERY good about choosing AVES if your pet needs oncology treatment. We were VERY happy with our visit there and are certain that you'll be very happy, too.

Experiencia negativa: My first two experiences a few years ago were good but a few months ago I took my dog there at 11:30 AM and by 2:00 in the morning the next day I finally went to pick her up. During that time I think I got one phone call to update me the rest of the time I had to call on my own and they barely did anything to her in those 13 hours. I was told they were shortstaffed and had a relief vet. If they had just been honest and told me they wouldn’t be able to treat my dog I would’ve taken her to VEG where I will be going from now on. I called to CALMY and POLITELY discuss this with an office manager and was told she would check into it and she would call me back. I never heard from her again. Awful.

Experiencia negativa: After waiting months to get my dog into see a specialist I ended up taking her through the emergency care here because she was going downhill fast. The specialist here was very knowledgeable and helped stabilize her which I was grateful for but the customer service and follow up care at this place is the worst by far I’ve ever received in my life. Every checkup would be the same song and dance they would take several days to get results and tell me the staff would follow up to set up a 30 day follow up. Not once over the course of almost a year did they do that. Every time I would have to call in several times to remind them we need to schedule this and even then I usually don’t get a call back. After almost a year of monthly visits my pet needed surgery to resolve the issue and I was given a quote that was ridiculous and told I needed to decide pretty quick as it was urgent. Again I was told the staff would call to set up an appointment and of course they did not. I called one more time to ask for someone to call me back and I still haven’t gotten a call and it’s been about 6 months. I ended up finding another place Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital and was able to schedule my dog in the next day. The cost for the same surgery ended up being about 1/4 the estimate from this place and they got it her in the following day. The staff and customer service there was so amazing and the surgery was very smooth and successful. I don’t normally review places but really regret the fact I didn’t make this change sooner and obligated to let others know. Although the doctors here are great and board certified the follow up and customer service is a nightmare. I learned board certified doesn’t really mean anything if you don’t have a working system in place.

Experiencia fantástica: Our son’s golden retriever puppy ate half of a chew toy. The vet clinic took her right in and induced vomiting. All the toy parts were spit up and the puppy is back to normal. The clinic monitored her for about an hour then discharged her with good care instructions. Thanks!

Experiencia fantástica: My 4 year old Malshi sees Dr Dolan in the oncology department, and I've also brought in my 3 year old Chipoo when she ate something she shouldn't. If you come in for after hours emergency services - yes, it will take a long time. I went in at 8pm once and got home at 2am. But they have other patients and they do a good job. Bring a book or something and don't give the poor receptionists a hard time. Anyway, this is Near with his bandana that the team there signed when he graduated from chemotherapy.

Experiencia positiva: I had not the best experience with AVES. Not all of it was bad though. My dog needed further diagnostics to confirm his cancer. I was very thankful we were able to get an appointment quickly. Dr. Stein and the nurse I worked with were very kind and accommodating. Dr. Stein answered all my questions and made me feel confident about the decisions I made for my pet. They showed compassion throughout the process. On my first appointment AVES did nothing for me. Gave me no new information that I had already known from my primary vet. They had x rays from my primary vet as well and all the info I was given was almost word for word a repeat from my primary vet. (This might be a testament to how good my primary vet is.) On the first visit, we only laid out what more they needed to do to confirm thrpigh tests what we had suspected which would be additional X rays and an ultrasound along with an aspiration biopsy. I had to come back the next day for my pet to get an ultrasound. What really disappointed me was when I came to pick my pet up from his ultrasound, before I received any new and meaningful information about my pet's condition, (his diagnosis, any treatment options, prognosis, etc.) I had received a text to pay the remaining 30% of the full price of the cost of services. (I had paid 70% down the first appointment.) I am assuming this is an automated message. I didn't pay the 30% when I got the text (I received it as I parked at AVES). I checked in at the lobby and waited for them to call me back to oncology. When they walked me back to the room to meet Dr. Stein, the person that walked me back told me I should have received a link and to pay my remaining balance. I was in a very emotional state being so anxious to hear more information back about my pet yet all this person had to say to me BEFORE I RECEIVED ANYTHING FROM AVES and AFTER I PAID 70% was "pay the remaining balance of your account". This is bad taste. Im not trying to leave the establishment. Im not arguing about money. Im trying to pick up my pet and learn just about anything new from AVES. Yet all this person cares about is that I pay the remaining 30 percent. I ignore her because I want to see my pet. I want to talk to Dr. Stein about whats going on before I pay the rest of the amount. I think I waited longer than what they thought was normal, I felt it wasnt a long wait though cause she came back to check on me and REMIND ME AGAIN TO PAY. I dont know if AVES's values are to prioritize money before patients but in that moment it very much felt like this was how they functioned. Again, Dr. Stein and the oncology nurse I met with was great. It was the person that took me back and checked in on me that was very money focused.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been going there with my dogs for at least almost 14 years. They know my old dogs and my new dogs by name- really know them. I get check up texts after appointments and even after the time I went to the emergency vet recently. They coordinated and I got texts from my vet, Dr H. checking in. They are all very patient and helpful. One of my dogs is dog reactive (working on it-getting better) and they make sure that the hallways are clear. I trust them and recommend them fully.

Experiencia fantástica: AVES is the absolute best and ONLY emergency and specialty pet hospital we will ever take our fur babies to. They have saved both of GSDS from the very serious and nearly fatal health conditions. The staff has always been so pleasant and patient with us. Dr. Campbell is amazing and we feel confident having our fur baby in her care.

Experiencia fantástica: We recently had our 17 year old dog evaluated by Dr Chiang, on their neurological team. The whole process was very gentle and calming for our boy. Dr Chiang’s suggestions were very conservative and eased our fears of his condition. We have seen the cardiologist and had emergency treatment there as well. It has always been positive.I would definitely recommend the clinic

Experiencia negativa: Gave my dog surface level liquids and charged me out the butt could even give basic care to an animal without worrying about money gave me a diagnosis of nothing told me that my dog was probably going to pass away and needed to be put in the intensive Care unit which would cost me about $9,000 more than I paid for my car.. took my dog to another vet for a second opinion and found out it was actually something with the muscles it's a muscle degenerative disorder and my dog will not die she does not have to die and charged me less than a hundred bucks to tell me that this place is nothing but a rip off they don't take you in the room with your pet you don't know what's going to happen you don't know if they're even doing anything to your pets I highly recommend going somewhere else and this being your last resort it's all about money

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been bringing all of my pets here for years and wouldn’t trust anyone else. We recently came in for Ollie’s annual epilepsy exam, and once again, the team was AMAZING. Everyone is genuinely helpful and shows such sincere concern for the animals. They even accommodated us with an outdoor visit so Ollie could stay relaxed and stress-free. Truly incredible service from a group that actually cares!

Experiencia fantástica: Everyone at AVES Is wonderful! They really care about your pets and treat them with love and kindness. My small dog was attacked by a coyote a year and a half ago and they did a great job of repairing her muscles and in two weeks you would never know what happened. They just repaired an ACL tear on my big dog and he is doing great. I love these people and would highly recommend them.

Experiencia negativa: Unfortunately, I feel it's necessary to give a one-star review to AVES and encourage people to visit another emergency clinic. AVES made numerous mistakes when it came to the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of my dog. They have serious communication issues that I feel could threaten a pet's care and do not take feedback well. My dog was brought in by a pet sitter while I was out of town. I, as the owner, was not contacted by AVES when he arrived with my dog. The pet sitter disclosed that he was not the owner, and the vet noted it multiple times in their visit summary. After asking AVES what their policy is on contacting owners, they said they do not have a formal policy. I find this very concerning, as owners, not pet sitters, know the full history of their pets and should be making medical decisions. My dog came in for a suspected blockage. When he got to AVES, he went to the bathroom immediately. This should have ruled out a full blockage, but should have instead been an indication of a partial blockage or other stomach issue. Instead of x-rays, which I had to come back for 10 days later, they performed bloodwork, noting that "the family approved". It's confusing how this could have been approved when I, the only owner, was not contacted. They also prescribed two medications, one of which was for cats and expired, and one of which was inappropriate for my dog's issue. My regular vet agreed that the medications prescribed were inappropriate. In the exam, AVES also noted that my dog had no abdominal pain and no soreness. However, when he was being picked up and put down (held around the stomach and ribs), he yelped consistently. It's confusing to me how this was not noted by the vet in the exam and makes me question whether a full exam was performed. After I got back into town and picked up my dog, I called AVES and asked for an anti-inflammatory, as that was the appropriate medicine for my dog that would have provided him some relief. I never received a call back and had to take time off work to go into the office and correct the contact information they had on file. After trying to get in touch with AVES for weeks to share my feedback and get the refund I feel I'm owed, I was passed around from person to person, left with unanswered phone calls and emails, and finally, when I was able to connect with someone over the phone to resolve this nearly 6 weeks later, I was abruptly told that AVES did not agree with me and would only refund me for the expired medication, not the incomplete exam, unapproved bloodwork, and inappropriate second medication. I find it concerning that AVES is not willing to admit that they made mistakes when it comes to communication and to the diagnosis and care of my dog. I also find it quite concerning that they do not have policies around communication with owners and a lack a strong system for feedback. I have filed a complaint with the State Board against the vet who examined my dog, as well as the entire office, for unprofessional behavior. I feel there are many issues at AVES that should be reviewed by someone that they might be more willing to listen to.

Experiencia fantástica: We had a consult with the neurology department and they were able to add my dog, Brooks, the same day for an MRI. This helped a lot with my busy schedule! Everyone from the CSR team, techs, and Dr. Cigarroa were all very kind and attentive and communicated well throughout the day while my dog was there. Would definitely recommend them for specialty services.

Experiencia fantástica: I can’t say enough good things about AVES. From the moment we walked in with my French Bulldog during a scary IVDD episode to picking her up the next day happy and walking again, everyone was so kind, communicative, and honest about what was happening. That alone made an incredibly stressful situation feel manageable. Dr. Cigarroa, the neurologist, was amazing. She came into the room, sat on the floor with us, and took the time to answer all of our questions without ever making us feel rushed. The level of care and compassion we experienced honestly exceeded anything I’ve ever had in a human hospital. I’m so thankful for the team at AVES and the care they gave my precious Pinky. ❤️

Experiencia fantástica: Everyone was so helpful and empathetic to our concern for our dogs. The front desk staff was kind and attentive and efficient. The vet techs were so sweet to our dogs and gave them lots of ear scratches and belly rubs. And the vets were very patient and communicative when explaining our dogs potential issues from ingesting a full bottle of prescription meds and the medical needs and choices we needed to make. Our dogs had to be in the hospital for 48 hours. We were allowed to come visit. After being there 24 hours, on our first visit to see them, when it was time for the vet tech to take them back, our dogs wag their tails when seeing them and happily went with them Because they had become so fond of them. When the vet came in to give us an update, our two dogs ran to her and jumped on her and wanted pets from her. Even though they had been drawing their blood and giving them injections, and I had to put cones on their neck and had IVs in their “arms.” It made us feel So much better, knowing that our dogs were truly being cared for while they had to be in the emergency hospital.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Dolan was great. He was patient, thorough, and genuinely seemed to care about my pet. The entire oncology department were kind and were able to get my dog in for an ultrasound, biopsy, and xray all in the same day to reduce the number of visits, sedation, and stress on my dog. They were like the MD Anderson of veterinarian oncology. Thank you!

Experiencia negativa: I realize this is an emergency veterinary clinic but having to wait 6 hours for my dog to see a vet is totally unacceptable for any reason! Clearly you are woefully understaffed. I must say however that the office and support staff did a wonderful job despite the delays, shift changes, etc. and related challenges. Once I saw the doctor, I was impressed with her knowledge and recommendations. Back surgery was recommended but would not be able to schedule at least until Monday sometime. On Sunday morning I took my dog for treatment to Texas A&M and I am pleased I did. Within 1.5 hours a team examined her, did a full neurological assessment, recommended an MRI and had surgery performed shortly thereafter. Their knowledge, professionalism and communication was impeccable.

Experiencia fantástica: This is by far the BEST place to take your fur baby if you need and want OUTSTANDING care. Experiencia negativa: Don't even bother calling until you're prepared to pay the consultation fee ($230) at the time of the call or if you care to know approximate procedure costs. Received a referral to this location by my vet for an ultrasound specialist ASAP. Scheduler would not provide pricing information (only available at time of appointment) and then I was informed that I had to make the payment while still on the phone (a "policy" she had to follow") to keep the appointment (more than 2 weeks out). I assume the medical professionals are good at their job, but this high pressure sales approach is a huge turn-off.

Experiencia fantástica: So last night, our new puppy cut her Achilles down to the tendon running in the backyard. She needed emergency surgery . As a physician, the best compliment I could give is that I told my wife if the ambulance will take me there I would be comfortable with them working on me. They just have to adjust the doses or maybe not! Dr. Knight was fantastic. Hannah the Medtech what a wonderful person. Everyone we spoke to first class Highly recommend. I am so grateful that we have this facility On the flipside, I did buy pet insurance this time but it’s more emotional I think than financial. It’s just one less thing To worry about Here are the other times we came in my 97-year-old dad 85 year-old dog was admitted with severe heart failure. He just lost his spouse a few months ago, and we were hoping for him not to lose his dog. She could barely breathe when she was admitted. The video below is two days after discharge. Great care Our 13 yo lab collapsed suddenly . It was horrible. We did the best we could and got her to the emergency vet. They came running out at one in the morning. I was not able to lift her, but they went in the car and a strong tech was able to bring her in. They worked on her emergently, she was already gone. Vet and the staff were very compassionate and caring.

Experiencia fantástica: Couldn’t recommend this place more, they saved my Luka man’s life and we are so so happy! We were sent here by someone in Frisco and drove here for an emergency surgery that only they were able to do, as it was a very specific surgery that has to do with his kidneys that ultimately ended up saving his life. This was an extremely stressful week for my fiancé and I as well as our cat Luka and as soon as we walked in the door they were ready to help him. Dr. Brown, Jenna, and every single doctor and tech all the way up to the front desk that worked with him and answered all of our questions were so incredible. This was such a stressful time and they truly were so so amazing. I truly cannot say enough good things about them!

Experiencia negativa: WARNING – AVES 24-Hour Emergency Vet: In my experience, AVES attempted to withhold my cat unless I paid an additional $3,000, after I had already paid $2,500 upfront. I was then told I would need to apply for a credit card before my pet could be released. This felt less like emergency care and more like financial coercion. Despite providing my cat’s gabapentin for anxiety, it was not administered. When my cat was finally returned, he still had an IV attached. I felt disrespected and pressured throughout the entire interaction. Based on what I experienced, AVES appears to place payment above patient care, which raises serious ethical concerns. Be advised: there is a reason owners are not allowed to visit their pets without significant restrictions. I would urge others to proceed with caution.

Experiencia negativa: I am sharing this review with the hope that no other family has to experience what we have gone through with our sweet 5 year old pup. Our dog was hospitalized at AVES overnight, and during that hospitalization an incident occurred while under staff care. As a result, he sustained an injury that led to surgery and permanent disability. Eight weeks post-surgery, and we have been informed that he is not expected to improve and his quality of life has been permanently impacted. This outcome has altered the course of his life and ours. In addition to the incident itself, we were deeply disappointed by the lack of transparency that followed. Requests for information related to what occurred were met with resistance, which added significant stress during an already devastating time. To be fair, the veterinarian managing our dog’s medical case continued to prioritize his care following the incident, and we do appreciate her commitment to his treatment. However, appreciation for one provider does not outweigh the broader concerns this experience raised. Based on our experience, AVES appears to lack adequate procedures to ensure overall quality of care for hospitalized animals, as well as sufficient training and oversight of technical staff. There is a basic, minimal expectation that when you entrust your pet to a veterinary hospital, especially a specialty emergency facility like AVES, that they will be kept safe while under staff supervision. In our case, that basic expectations was not met! The pain, stress, and long-term consequences of this experience have been extreme! We are now left navigating a future where our dog’s condition will not improve and his independence has been permanently affected. I would strongly urge pet owners to consider these factors carefully when deciding where to seek care for their pets!

Experiencia fantástica: Magnificent! I cannot say enough about the compassionate emergency care here. Particularly from Ashley, Araceli, and Doctor Wilbers. Our 15 1/2 year-old Jack Russell, Breezy, was diagnosed with lymphoma. It was heartbreaking. But, we asked to take her home and be provided with all the medications that she needed to be comfortable until the end. At this point, we have everything we need and she is resting as peacefully as she rests when she is well. Again, I absolutely cannot stress enough, about the care, compassion, and professionalism that we were shown at AVES. Everyone we spoke to was an excellent communicator who understood our needs and most importantly Breezy’s needs. Right now she’s home. Surrounded by the familiar smells, environment, and the people who love her most. Bless you all! You’re the best.

Experiencia negativa: This review isn’t meant to trash a business or a specific doctor, but rather to encourage pet parents to always seek a second opinion from any oncologist. After my pup was diagnosed with oral melanoma, we had an oncology consult at AVES. The experience felt cold and rushed. The doctor appeared distracted, left the room during the visit, and spent very little time reviewing my dog’s records before speaking with us. The overall message we received was that surgery was not an option, and zero enthusiasm that any other course of treatment would work. The tone was very grim. We later sought a second opinion with another veterinary oncologist, and the experience could not have been more different. She spent over an hour with us, reviewed the case in depth, consulted with colleagues, and pursued additional staging to confirm there was no metastatic disease. My dog’s lymph nodes were clear, and we were presented with a thoughtful, individualized plan. As a result, my pup is now scheduled for a second surgery with a highly respected surgical oncologist, and his tumor has been sent for advanced testing to help guide immunotherapy options. While outcomes are never guaranteed, we now feel informed, supported, and confident that we are doing everything reasonably possible for him. He has a great team of Doctors working for and fighting for him. My takeaway: AVES may be the right fit for some, but if you leave feeling discouraged, PLEASE get another opinion. It can make an enormous difference — medically and emotionally.

Experiencia negativa: I went in to do a consult to have my 2 year old dog neutered. Full disclosure he has a heart condition so I was ready for some additional fees associated with that. 3 years ago I my other dog neutered here in Austin and it cost $1000. I know Austin is expensive, but at the end of the consult they gave me a quote of over $5500 for a neuter surgery. This seems really exorbitant even if there are some extra precautions. I declined the surgery and am looking for another vet at the moment. I have to say I felt like they were more interested in price gauging than really taking care of animals. I know they need to be profitable, and have no issue with that. Final insult, $250 for a 15 minute consult.

Experiencia fantástica: We were greeted at the door and within one minute our 11 yo pooch Delilah was taken to an exam room for assessment. Luckily her condition was urgent but not an emergency. As such our wait time was understandably long. That said, the front desk and technical teams informed us frequently about Delilah’s status. When we did see Dr. Wilber’s, she was thorough in discussing Delilah’s condition and treatment options. Delilah was returned to us a little while later calm as can be. Clearly the team had been showering her with attention during her stay. This was our 3rd trip to AVES over the last 7 years. It remains a professional, compassionate and outstanding animal health care provider.

Experiencia fantástica: My Labrador retriever was with AVES after being transferred from my regular vet post-critical surgery for 24 hour post-surgical care, which was excellent. AVES did everything to monitor and stabilize her, to keep her comfortable and to get her well enough that I could bring her home as soon as possible to continue her recovery. Their care of her was loving and thorough, their communication with me was regular and informative and my ability to see her and speak with the covering veterinarian if I had questions was excellent. 100% a 5 star care facility. ❤️‍

Experiencia fantástica: Appointment process is good. Dr. Stein, Oncologist, is a caring doctor who thinks of the best treatment for your pet. He communicates with clients in an effective manner providing options for treatment and welfare of your pet.

Experiencia fantástica: This was a very calming and positive environment, with as much privacy as possible. After a very short wait for our scheduled appt, we were taken into an exam room. We gave our details to an experienced tech that was shared with doctor she saw our dog. They took the dog for exam, came back with the doctor with explanations, spending as much time as we needed to understand. We were able to pay for the visit without ever having to leave the room, or wait in line with others. We experienced a large and clean waiting room, plenty of room between the pets coming in as well as clean bathrooms, and a hospitality area. Everyone we came in contact with seemed very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable.

Experiencia fantástica: Austin Veterinary Emergency and Specialty in Austin, TX is absolutely amazing! I was treated with so much compassion throughout my visit. My entire experience was amazing! I walked out with a thorough knowledge of what was wrong with my little Pekingese and the treatment they proposed to do. Very warming experience!

Experiencia fantástica: Brought my cat in at 3am with no appointment. Receptionist was very friendly and got through paperwork quick. Doctors shared my concerns and urgency to diagnose my cat. I was there awhile (3am-7am) but I was updated frequently and overall satisfied. Price wise I was actually surprised as I thought it would be way more expensive with everything done and prescriptions. Really great place.

Experiencia fantástica: Had a wonderful experience at AVES. We were referred here when a biopsy came back cancerous on my dog. From the initial phone call with the front desk staff to my appointment date, everyone was extremely friendly. We saw Dr. Stein and he was really wonderful about addressing my concerns and giving me straightforward information, all while being very caring. They were able to work us in for an ultrasound, and we had to wait a little given it was non-emergent, but they were super communicative on the process. Thankfully we shouldn't have to continue seeing them for more cancer-related treatment, but I'm really pleased with the one visit we did have.

Experiencia fantástica: Our GSD required emergency surgery (gastric torsion). The entire team jumped on the issue, got him in surgery and saved his life. The staff treated him snd us with compassion, empathy, understanding when we were going through a very difficult time. We appreciate everything they did for our fur baby.

Experiencia positiva: This is my second time at AVES to see a specialist for my elderly, disabled dog. Everyone who works here is wonderful and the communication is above par. We saw Dr Slead for her chronic, recurring UTIs and he was absolutely amazing, 100/10. Kind, compassionate, patient, knowledgeable with a stellar bedside manner (with my pup and me!) My only complaint, and hence the four stars, is cost. I know the vets are worth every penny but I ended up paying 2x per antibiotic pill vs what I had just paid for the same medication at my primary care vet. That one difference makes a giant leap in cost, when I probably could have paid 1/4 of that at my CVS. It would be nice to have that taken into consideration when I'm already spending an arm and a leg on this dog.

Experiencia fantástica: I can not recommend this place with enough strong words. My little Shitzhu pup was so sick on New Year’s Eve. The next morning I brought her to AVES because my regular vet was completely out of touch for the holiday. They were PACKED and while it did take awhile ( the sickest cases were triaged faster ) my sweet little girl was handled well. And I can’t thank Dr Sampson enough - she was the overnight vet who spent several hours finding a suitable option for surgery that we could afford. We could not afford the specialty rates and Dr Sampson helped us find a solution that would work for us. Thank you thank you thank you

Experiencia positiva: I take my dog here for management of her epilepsy by Dr. Chiang. Dr. Chiang is knowledgeable and kind and I highly recommend him. The practice of techs taking my dog away and then completing the review of her history, medications etc in the middle of the lobby in front of every customer lacks privacy and respect. This past visit, after having a long and frustrating conversation in the lobby and being told to wait there, we were then called back to be placed in a room and wait for our dog. There were many open rooms so I’m not sure why the initial intake for a non-emergency routine visit cannot be completed in a private room. I have had a positive experience with the majority of techs and staff, but there are some who are arrogant, rude, accusatory and believe they know more than you could ever know.

Experiencia fantástica: What an empathetic team. I came in for an oncology consult for my 15 year old cat. I knew the outcome of the appointment would likely confirm we have limited time left and I was crying before walking in. Both the doctor and vet tech were incredible. I did not feel embarrassed about being upset, they treated my sweet girl like a queen, and made recommendations that felt genuine. At no point were they pushy. Everything felt based on what is truly best for me and my friend.

Experiencia fantástica: I can’t say enough good things about this place. To start let’s get this out of the way and be honest - no one wants to be here. If you’re here it means something’s wrong with your animal, and that’s a bad place to start. However after being heartbroken about the cancer diagnosis, and not wanting to go here I felt very taken care of and comfortable being here. Everyone was thoughtful, informative and kind, both proactive and patient with our questions and tears, and sweet to us and our pup. She had a mast cell tumor on her paw and was able to keep her paw, they did different methods to help shrink the tumor and we tested to make sure it hadn’t spread. She is a very active dog so keeping her paw was important to me and I’m grateful they did everything they could to ensure she could be both healthy and keep her digits. I really can’t say enough good things because they’ve approached every single visit (we’ve been 5 times now) with kindness and care. It means so much to me.

Experiencia negativa: I am so glad that i did not take my dog for tail surgery there. They wanted to remove his entire tail, disfigure my dog - saying they know better and quoted $7K. I found a good surgeon. He charged $4K did a wonderful partial tail removed. No one can even tell my dog had surgery and he is totally healed in 5 days (not 14 as they planned) and is like a puppy. This place misdiagnosed my dog before but I was referred by VCA to them not knowing who they were. Aside from the financial rip off, I'm so glad that both me and my dog weren't otherwise damaged by this place.

Experiencia fantástica: Having experienced another emergency vet that wasn’t great a few days before this place I can tell you this place is as amazing as I was told it would be. They were passionate and caring throughout the entire process. I was kept updated throughout the entire process including when I had to leave my cat there for 2 nights. They also reached out to check on her after she was home for a day. She is now recovering great at home. I would trust them with my pets in the future if the need arises and would recommend them?

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Slead and the entire AVES team have been such a help for both of our senior (15+ year) kitties. From routine specialty visits to emergency stays (3+ days), they have truly been there for our family. Their staff is kind, empathetic, and helps make stressful visits more manageable. I am forever grateful for the care they show our babies and would recommend any pet parent in need of specialty or emergency care to come here.

Experiencia negativa: I brought my dog in at midnight and waited two hours, only to be told, ‘He appears fine,’ despite him clearly running on adrenaline. I paid $245 and spent hours there, yet they were unable to explain what was actually wrong. He had excessive drooling and wobbly legs, yet I was told it was ‘just nerves.’ Based on my experience, I won’t be returning and I wouldn’t recommend bringing your dog here.

Experiencia fantástica: AVES saved our dog’s life when they performed emergency laryngeal tieback surgery on him and continue to provide excellent care through oncology as we treat a tumor that was found during that process. Experiencia fantástica: I can't say enough good things about AVES. After our vet suggested we get a surgical consult for our dog, we were a little lost on where to begin. We moved forward with a different surgical center that we immediately did not get good vibes from. We decided to switch gears and reach out to AVES and WOW did we make the right decision. They were so respectful of what was best for our girl, who struggles with vet visits (much less a whole new place with new people). De'Angelo was so kind, listened to all our concerns and was SO GOOD with our pet. Dr. Strelchik was extremely helpful and really put our minds at ease and helped us understand our options. They were definitely more expensive than the original surgical center we had reached out to, but it was worth EVERY penny. Thank you AVES!!!

Experiencia negativa: I had a very disappointing experience with this clinic. I had to reschedule my original appointment, and while I was on the way they called to confirm my arrival time. I asked if all of my pet’s records and imaging had been requested and received by AVES. I had pre-filled digital documentation so they could get it, a week or two prior. The vet tech I spoke with informed me that not only did they not have the images, but they had also never requested them. I was then told I would need to pay for a second appointment just to review those images. I made it clear that I should not be responsible for paying for two appointments due to their failure to obtain the necessary records. Instead of helping, the technician was rude, repeatedly talked over me, and ultimately hung up on me. I called back and was told a manager would return my call, but no one ever did. It’s unacceptable business practice to neglect to request critical medical records and then expect clients to pay for unnecessary additional appointments. This experience left me feeling frustrated, unheard, and extremely disappointed. I cannot recommend this clinic based on how poorly this situation was handled.

Experiencia fantástica: Great care by everyone there. Called us 2 times a day with pictures while she was there for major surgery. Nice walk Park and saw them walking a lot of the dogs each time we were there. If your dog needs major care this is the place. Very clean and friendly.

Experiencia fantástica: Fantastic experience here. We were referred by our vet when our senior dog developed a skin lymphoma. We were fortunate to fall under the care of Kristin and Dr. Dolan. This is obviously a difficult time as a pet owner and they were wonderful. We never felt rushed the entire appointment. Our options were clearly laid out, with full explanation of each. We had their complete focus and attention throughout the visit, and our dog was relaxed and comfortable with them (he is not great with non-family members). I would recommend Dr. Dolan and his team without hesitation.

Experiencia fantástica: We brought our cat Orea in to see Dr. Stein for an oncology consult and were very impressed with the compassion and care from him and his technician (I forgot her name unfortunately). He was realistic and informative with Orea’s prognosis and treatment options for her carcinoma and for the fluid found around her lungs. We opted for a tap to remove the fluid, and the technician let us have some more time with Orea while they set up for the procedure. I’m forever grateful they gave us that time because she passed away before the procedure started (a risk we were informed about given her heart disease). They were very sympathetic about her passing and gave us all the time we needed to hold her body one more time. Although our appointment ended with our girl crossing the rainbow bridge, I’m extremely grateful that Dr. Stein and his technician gave us the guidance and support we needed to give our girl the best care possible.

Experiencia fantástica: AVES is seriously the best place I have ever taken my pet! My cat Mochi had a terrible reaction to a medication and was in a really scary situation whenever we got to the emergency vet! They instantly ran him back and got him stable within minutes. I was super emotional and upset when I arrived as I was worry about my baby boy, however the staff was insanely patient, sweet, and supportive! I appreciate their love and support so much! The doctor was so thorough and amazing! And now my baby boy is safe, healthy, and happy! Highly recommend bringing your kiddo here if you are ever in an emergent situation!

Experiencia negativa: They r heartless, i had spent $4900 in the week before I brought my nunu there and they wanted $3270 down to start on her i begged them to give me 24 hours to come up with the money my friend said he would cash in his $100,000 cd at the bank the next morning to pay them the whole $6000 and they sent her home and she passed away so they r as sorry as they come they r ssupose to care if ur heart is right money shouldn't madder dr Kevin in spicewood is a real vet he cared he allowed me to bring her back to him that following day when he was off work and the office was closed and when I told him id get him the money asap he told me he wasn't worried about the money he just wanted to help her. Thats a vet that deserves to be call a vet that cares thank u dr Kevin for ur kindness and for caring about my baby

Manuel Rodriguez Publicada en Google 6 months ago

Experiencia negativa: Friendly staff! I think the clinic is a bit pricey. My biggest issue is that we spent 7 hr, $1300 and left with our fur baby no better than we went it. We provided all his symptoms and previous medical history. They began by conducting one examination and the vet proceeded to advise a 2nd exam was needed to narrow down the problem. We get the results and again are advised to follow up with a different examination to further narrow down the problem, which we declined due to the cost. Our dog seems to have a stomach issue. Forgive me if I’m wrong, it felt like a lack of empathy and a little bit of upselling. Two exams, medical history and current symptoms seems like sufficient information to address a stomach issue and send our baby home with some medicine. We decided to try this place but went home with regret. We had already received a similar evaluation for $300 from his regular vet. We thought this clinic could identify the problem without so many needed exams but were wrong.

AVES provided us the comfort, answers, and resuscitation our baby needed till we had the information to make the hard decision of putting her to sleep. Experiencia fantástica: I brought my dog here for a proptosed eye after a scuffle with another dog…a really traumatic experience for my boy Eddie (and myself honestly), and I cannot recommend this emergency clinic enough. They are the reason his eye has a chance at recovery, for which I’m forever grateful. Dr. Latshaw was incredibly knowledgeable and set my mind at ease within moments of explaining the situation to my teary-eyed mess! And every technician and front staff member was unbelievably kind and reassuring- I couldn’t have asked for a better environment given the horrible circumstances. I brought Eddie back about 2 weeks later for a suture removal and was moved that one technician even came out to the waiting room to say hi to him having remembered his initial visit. I’m truly so grateful to y’all, and Eddie too! He is sending lots of kisses your way!

Experiencia fantástica: I can’t express how thankful I am for AVES. The Dr. available on November 1st 2025 wasn’t able to help our fur baby since we needed a Neurologist & they were out til Monday but she didn't hesitate to go out her way & contact another Neurologist somewhere near by that can actually take us in and diagnose our fur baby, now we had no option but to euthanize our fur baby. Nevertheless AVES guided us in the best direction possible & I am so thankful for them. Amazing staff & positive energy!

Experiencia fantástica: Everyone here was so unbelievably kind and friendly, the veterinarian we worked with explained everything so well and helped us to make an informed decision. We came in for our male cat who had a urinary block and we decided to go ahead and do surgery to lessen the likelihood of life threatening blocks in the future. First of all when you arrive they get someone to check your pet’s symptoms for severity very quickly which helps with peace of mind. They did the surgery same day, and we could tell everyone was very nice to our baby (even though he wasn’t happy, but that’s to be expected). It did cost a pretty penny, but it ended up being a little less than the estimate which was nice. They’ve also been very responsive for checking back in on him and answering questions. My little one is back home and is healing up nicely. I’d definitely recommend them!

Experiencia fantástica: We were directed to the AVES ER from an imaging facility due to our cat having fluid on his lungs. He stayed the night at the ER and had his lungs tapped. Although, that sounds simple, a lot went into caring for Thommy and we are so appreciative for that care. He's currently recovering and I am so thankful for the doctors/nurses/staff of AVEs. They were professional, kind, and empathetic during a very stressful time for my family. A top notch facility.

Experiencia fantástica: There are truly no words to express the depth of my gratitude for the incredible team at AVES who cared for my soul dog, Reilly, during one of the hardest moments of our lives. Reilly was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, and after the heartbreaking news and difficult decision-making, we moved forward with surgery to give him the best chance at more quality time, and to finally take away his pain. His amputation, splenectomy, and gastropexy were performed by the phenomenal Dr. Fleming, whose skill, compassion, and medical expertise gave me peace and confidence in such a difficult time. I will forever be thankful to him for giving my boy relief and the opportunity to live comfortably again. From the moment we arrived, I felt surrounded by the kind of care that can’t be taught, genuine love and devotion to both patient and family. Rachel, the department head nurse, coordinated his anesthesia and surgical team with such care and professionalism, ensuring I knew Reilly was in the best possible hands. His pre-op and scrub nurse Jason, anesthesia nurse Natasha, and anesthesiologist Dr. Whittaker all played vital roles in making his surgery and recovery go painless, anxiety free and smoothly. Reilly was hospitalized from Wednesday through Saturday for monitoring and recovery, and I cannot thank the nursing staff and supporting medical professionals enough for their compassion, gentleness, and attention to detail. From the surgical department nurses Jason, Abel, and Anika, to the emergency department nurses Hannah, Hal and Carlie. Each of you went above and beyond to make sure Reilly was comfortable and loved. You didn’t just care for him medically; you cared for his spirit. You gurneyed him outside for fresh air and sunshine, massaged his limbs, iced his surgical incisions, hand fed him meals, ensured he to took his meds in his favorite vessels of cream cheese or yogurt, helped him learn how to walk on three legs, and showered him with treats and affection. You made sure he felt safe, special, and deeply cared for, and that means everything to me. As a veterinary professional myself, I have always respected my colleagues and the work we do, but seeing this level of teamwork, empathy, and excellence firsthand was truly humbling. You reminded me what the heart of veterinary medicine is really about: love, compassion, and practicing the highest quality of medicine. To Dr. Fleming and the entire AVES family who have supported us: thank you for taking away my boy’s pain, for treating him like your own, and for supporting me with such understanding, compassion and kindness. You gave Reilly comfort, dignity, and healing, and you gave me and all who love Reilly, more time, which is the most valuable gift. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Experiencia fantástica: No one wants to have to visit an emergency vet for their animal. There is obviously a fear of what’s going on with the animal and what may happen. But, AVES made this visit as easy as it could be. We called ahead just to get an idea of what info they needed and if they thought we did, in fact, need to take our cat in for an emergency. We did, but the process was seemless and all employees there were so helpful and welcoming. They kept us updated on our kitty, gave us the appropriate estimate regarding what needed to be done and made a scary experience ok. Again, no one wants to be at an emergency vet in the middle of the night, but if it happens that you need them, I’m happy to know they are there and would definitely go back if/when needed.

Saturday night our elderly dog was nearing the end of his life, and we brought him in to get a quality of life check. The second we walked in, the receptionist and the rest of the staff, everyone - not only treated the moment urgently, but each person looked us in the eyes with such compassion and treated our Rupert with gentleness in his final moments. Our Doctor - Alisha Muscatwala was incredible. Giving us the direct confidence that we were doing the right thing, and being so sweet as we said our final goodbye. Thank you to the kindness of every person that we encountered, and for helping us through one of the hardest nights of our life. Kensey and Andrew
