Experiencia fantástica: I first heard about Chuluota Veterinary Hospital when my Husband and I were looking to adopt 2 Dogs from Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida in 2015. I quickly learned that Dr. Zern and his Staff are the BEST Veterinary Clinic in Central Florida! We travel 40 miles to see Dr. Zern and so does my Mom with her Dog as well. We have had lots of experience over the years with multiple Dogs at other Clinics and none of them even come close to the expert care and knowledge Dr. Zern and his Staff are in their field. We are always greeted by a warm and welcoming Staff. The Clinic is clean, modern, and well-organized, creating a reassuring environment for Pet owners. Dr. Zern and all Technicians are clearly passionate about animals. During our visit, they handle our Dogs gently and make sure they are comfortable throughout the process. Dr. Zern thoroughly examines our Dogs and explains the diagnosis in detail, answers all of our questions patiently, and provides various treatment options. He also ensures that we understand how to follow up with care at home; which we really appreciated. We couldn't be happier with the service and care provided. One aspect that stands out is the Clinic calls to check how our Babies are doing and provide any additional guidance, if needed. Whether it's for a routine check-up or a more serious issue, I trust Dr. Zern and his Staff completely with our Pet's health and well-being.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Zern is the best, he saves countless animals. He rescued my Charlie and took out a massive tumor that prevented him from walking, he saved my Gus from certain death due to undiagnosed stomach issues. He diagnosed Maggie my Chi with urinary stones that gave her a chance. These were all abandoned and forgotten dogs certain to die due to untreated issues. You can tell he truly cares. Trust me rescuing and saving animals from the streets for over 30 years. I've seen some compassionless vets. He's not it. He cares. His staff is wonderful too! ❤️ Here are Gus just turned 15, Maggie the brindle colored dog and Charlie the tan pup. Charlie and Maggie crossed over the rainbow bridge a few years ago but they had many wonderful years spreading joy and living their best lives!

Experiencia fantástica: We changed to Chuluota Vet. Hospital about 3 months ago. I wanted to find something closer to our home. We first met with one of the relief vets and she was very sweet. Today, we met with Dr. Zern he was so kind and gentle. My old boy doesn’t have much more time before he crosses the rainbow bridge due to cancer but I feel comfortable and confident knowing that Dr. Zern and his staff will guide us through this difficult time. We have 4 pets in total and I’m so glad we finally found someone who has all the qualities you would want in veterinarian.

Experiencia negativa: My last office visit was very disappointing. I brought a stray cat i have been trying to care for in, because she had lost a lot of weight and was sneezing as well as blood in urine. Her ear had been tipped prior to me caring for her. The vet techs were very judgemental and treated me as though i was a horrible pet owner. I take care of this stray cat and make sure she has food and water daily as well as give her bedding, toys and a safe enclosed back porch. They were rude and one of the techs had the nerve to raise her voice at my 5 yr old who never made a noise. He is shy and was leaning into my 9 yr old for comfort while the cat was being handled by the staff. Apperently she felt the need to yell at him to stop doing "that" to his sister. At the time i was focused on the cat and felt horrible. After 500.00 worth of blood test and an antibiotic, the cat was cleared of her uti. But ended up having worms. The vet never mentioned or tested for that. I called a mobile vet who felt like that was the issue, tested, treated and now all is good. But with sneezing and drastic weight loss, this office should have done better. The actual veterinarian was nice, but his staff and one particular vet tech was rude, lacked customer service and had no right yelling at my scared and shy 5 yr old looking for comfort in my daughter. She lacks people skills. The whole experience was very unfortunate. This is not the place to go if you are trying to do the right thing and get a stray or ferral cat some help. I have alwalys made my vet appointments while my kids were in school. This was the 1st time my kids were with me. They were very well behaved and scared for this cat. I was a regular dog client there but have changed veterinarians due to this experience. My experience at the Oviedo Vet office on 426 was great.

Experiencia fantástica: I had to go here to pick up a foster dog and they were fantastic. If they were closer I’d use them as my regular vet but they are 44 minutes from My house so a little farm. The staff was very warm and welcoming.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Zern has provided expert diagnostic and surgical care for my dogs for years. This is also a very honest practice. They don't recommend unnecessary procedures or tests. They want what is best for the dog.

Experiencia fantástica: I have taken all 3 of my dogs to Dr Zern for 2 years. There isn't another vet in the area that I would trust with my babies. I moved and CVH isn't the closest vet to me now. But I love the staff and Dr Zern and wouldn't dream of switching vets. One of my senior dogs has a handful of medical problems. Dr Zern takes the time and understands that I just want to keep him comfortable. No need to run a bunch of tests on him. We are just keeping him comfortable until the end. I appreciate that my wishes are respected. I cannot say enough positive things about this veterinary office.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Zern is very compassionate towards animals. He has treated my FIV+ kitty for several years now. I am particular about vets, and wouldn't trust anyone else with my cat's care. The staff is always friendly as well. The best way to tell if a vet's office is good, is by how the animals act. My pets were always comfortable walking through the doors and always felt at ease with Dr. Zern. Also, the resident cat, Sheldon, clearly thrives in his surroundings.

Experiencia fantástica: Chuluota Veterinary Hospital has been my personal vet for 10 years. Dr. Zern and the staff have treated my animals like part of the family. Whether routine exams, dental cleaning or extensive surgery, I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else.

Experiencia fantástica: the staff is truly wonderful. my chihuahua isnt the friendliest at the vet but they were able to control him and treat him gently. the techs were pleasant and dr zern is really wonderful. hes friendly and obviously knowledgeable, he gave advice that was easily attainable and understandable. im very happy trusting my dogs with them, especially with an upcoming surgery for my other dog, it makes me feel a lot more relaxed.

Experiencia fantástica: They deserve more than 5 stars! We have been coming here for almost 3 years for our dog and our cat, and I cannot praise them enough. Both Dr. Zern and Dr. Chehab are phenomenal vets who always put their patients 1st and foremost. The Staff are amazing and incredibly caring and very competent. They ALL go above and beyond to provide the best care. I definitely and highly recommend them.

Experiencia negativa: Provider almost killed our dog a couple of years ago. Wouldn’t listen to us and used outdated treatment protocols that almost put our 1 year old dog in an early grave. Dog was saved at another facility, and the experience was as obvious as night and day. Won’t mention the other place to avoid this wack-job of a vet believing someone is running a smear campaign. I honestly think this place is the worst vet we’ve ever taken any animal ever, solely because the provider doesn’t listen. He’s one of those, “well I’ve been doing this way for xxx years blah blah blah” has the answer before you open your mouth, know-it-all d-bags. Run the other way. NOW!

Experiencia negativa: New patient. Brought my cat into see the vet, the vet wouldn't listen to anything my husband had to say. He prescribed the same meds we have been giving him/have. Pointless visit. Phone staff, also very unpleasant. I won't be back.

We strive to provide quality, caring service for our patients and are always disappointed when a client does not feel that is what they received. Communication is of the utmost importance in medical care, especially with pets that are relying on their owners to speak for them.When your husband brought your cat for his exam, Dr. Zern listened to everything he said, including that he did not know what medication(s) you had been using. This information was not reflected in the medical record we received from your previous vet either. If you already have the medication our doctor dispensed, and did not wish to purchase it, you are not under any obligation to take it. Had this had been communicated, our front desk staff could easily have removed it from your invoice. Upon checking out, our front desk staff spoke with your husband about his visit and he said everything was fine, no complaints. Regarding our phone staff, if there is a specific person that you spoke with or more details as to what was unpleasant, I would be happy to discuss this with you directly. Experiencia negativa: Had to edit my review. This place "never" has appointments available, but can "fit" you in the next day or so for an additional fee! Sounds like they plan on never having appointments available so that they can charge extra money to people who need to bring their pets in for a visit, if not you have to wait a week for an appointment. What a scummy business model, feeding off people's injured pets.
Hello Matthew –I know it can be frustrating when appointments aren't available immediately. We are generally booked out at least one week, which (unfortunately) is not uncommon in the Veterinary field. We try our best to work patients with emergent/urgent needs in, however, this can cause significant strain to our staff and doctors - resulting in added stress, missed lunches/breaks, overtime, etc. It is for these reasons we may have to charge an emergency/work-in fee when adding a patient to an already full schedule.It is my understanding that you were offered an appointment within 4 business days of calling, and also the option of being worked-in the next day for an additional fee. Experiencia negativa: This was a horrible experience. I am absolutely floored that Dr. Zern has adopted such despicable customer service practices that seem to be driven by monetary greed. I have not seen Dr. Zern in several years but when I moved back to north Orlando, even though I am disabled and get very nervous driving and I'm on a fixed income, I still wanted to pay Dr. Zern for shots and to meet my new baby. I called the office to advise I would be 10 minutes late due to being stuck in construction right near their place. I was advised that they were packed and she might have to cancel my appointment. I told her to please not do that to me as I was right about the corner and why couldn't she put the person waiting in front of me and I take that persons place. She said she had to ask and came back and said the person she asked said I can still come but there will be a $40 work in fee. I could only start crying as I was already an emotional wreck from driving. It was hard enough for me to come up with the money to pay for his shots, but then Dr. Zern's unprofessional and disgusting office practices put me out of the required money. What has happened to people and how they treat others? What happened to caring for animals and putting them over profit? I get Vets can get $240 for an hour of their time, and I think had I been there at 10:30 sharp, he would have had me waiting for way longer than 10 minutes and wouldn't have offered to compensate me for my time spent waiting. She could have let me arrive 10 minutes late and taken the next person without $40 worth of detrimental harm to the office. That's for sure. Since money is Dr. Zern's motivator now a days, I am going elsewhere. Shame on him!
Hello Ms. Braswell - While I am sorry you are upset with your recent experience, I can assure you that the policies of CVH are not “driven by monetary greed.” In recent years we have had to make some changes in how we handle late/no-show/cancelled without notice appointments. Unfortunately, there have been too many instances of appointments that are scheduled, and confirmed, yet the client either cancels last minute, shows up considerably late, or simple does not show or call. This makes it extremely difficult to maintain an effective schedule with our staff and doctors, allowing them the necessary time to provide quality care for our patients while still allowing them time for lunch and/or the breaks they need to perform their best and preserve their physical and mental health. When you called at your scheduled appointment time to say you were still at least 10-15 minutes away, you were told that we could try to accommodate you, however, it might involve an additional fee. This fee, established by management - not by Dr. Zern, is at the discretion of management and depends on how “behind” it puts the doctors and staff. The sole reasons for this fee is to discourage clients from showing up late, requesting to be seen same-day for routine (non-emergent) appointments, and to cover the additional cost of staff overtime. The front desk staff attempted to explain the reasons for this policy. If you would like to discuss the matter directly, in further detail, I am happy to speak with you directly. Experiencia negativa: Friendly staff and they take time speaking with you on your animals (which is nice) but tend to nickle and dime you on everything there. Annual visits they didn't clip nails and tend to overcharge for a lot of service. Knowledgeable staff and convinent location (right off 419), but definitely one of the higher priced vets in the area.

Sometimes, if a pet is already stressed or fearful during their visit, we will opt to hold off on performing the nail trim, as it is a complimentary procedure and can be performed at a later time. If this was not the case, and a nail trim was simply overlooked at your recent visit, please accept our apology. We would be happy to provide this service, just give our office a call to schedule at your convenience.As far as charges are concerned, we try to keep the costs of your pet’s care reasonable, generally comparable to other facilities, and do not “sell” a lot of unnecessary products or treatments. We believe in providing excellent care and treating people fairly. Each pet’s conditions and needed treatments/care are unique. Our pets are usually quite nervous at their vet appointments, but Madison and Dr. Chehab were very patient with them and kept them calm during their visit. My wife and I also really appreciated Dr. Chehab taking the time to thoroughly answer all of our questions. She was very caring and gave us some great recommendations.

Experiencia fantástica: I couldn’t ask for a better clinic to take my animals to! This is probably the only clinic I've ever gone to where I genuinely don't care which doctor I see when I schedule an appointment. I trust and adore both Dr. Zern and Dr. Chehab and they have been great for everything from routine puppy shots to more complicated treatment plans, and everything in between. I never feel rushed and always feel like they truly care about what's best for us. The receptionists and techs are friendly and always as excited to see my pets as my pets are to see them. We're happy to have found CVH!

Experiencia fantástica: The most amazingly helpful, thorough, professional and friendly staff you could have to take complete care of your pets!!! Used them since I moved here in 1986! They saved my dog's life one time. I can't thank them enough! I know she was spoiled during recovery because they bought her a new bandana and eveey time we visited the vet, I couldn't hold her back! She knew they saved her life and she certainly loved them all!!

I took my pet yesterday to Dr. Chehab and was very impressed with how thorough a test she did on my dog and how extremely gentle she was with him. I've seen a lot of vets over the years, but never one so gentle. She went over the tests with me and explained everything. She's highly professional and really nice to deal with. The same can be said of the staff: they're very professional and really nice! I highly recommend this office and Dr. Chehab.

Experiencia fantástica: Yes I was there a couple months ago with my dog that end up having to put him down at 11 weeks old and they were so nice and my dog had help issues and I bought him an eight weeks old paid 15 hundred dollars for him and paid $7,000 for vet bills but they were really nice to me I would go back again if I got another dog

Experiencia fantástica: I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Zern and his entire staff! I have two rescue dogs and we have had countless great experiences. This is the first place I’ve felt a vet is not only great at his job, but really loves these animals. We had a scary experience a couple months ago that involved a very lengthy and delicate surgery on my 12 pound, one year old dog; I don’t think anyone could have handled this better than Dr. Zern did. The time he takes to explain what he found, potential treatments and outcomes was more than I could have expected. The way he holds and cares for my dog shows you how much he cares. And pricing was surprisingly reasonable compared to experiences I have had with other local offices in the past. The fact that the office is so involved with a rescue is icing on the cake for us. I was compelled to share my experience after reading another review about Dr. Zern calling him rude and after all this time I just can’t imagine a situation where that would be the case. I gladly drive 25 minutes, past numerous other practices, to have my dogs treat with Dr. Zern.

Experiencia fantástica: Our pups have been going to CVH for a couple of years now and have received nothing but quality care, genuine compassion and kindness from each and every staff member! The vet techs are patient and sweet as both of our dogs have always been a little nervous about vet visits. They take their time to ensure they feel as comfortable as possible during visits and Dr. Zern (and the other doctors that we have been seen by there) truly provide an inviting and family-like atmosphere! Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Zern was INCREDIBLE with my anxious, and sometimes reactive, mini dachshund. At previous vet offices near our old home, our experience felt rushed, stressful, and sometimes like my dog was a “bad dog” when she was truly just scared. As a result, I’ve started muzzling my dog when we go to the vet even though I don’t generally muzzle her in other situations. Dr. Zern held my dachshund like she was his own dog. Truly - He cradled her, and cuddled her, and even gave her a little kiss on the head. But the most magical moment for me, as her dog mom, was the moment that he UNMUZZLED her himself and still kept petting and kissing her. Never once did my dog nip at him or react negatively. While she was still nervous about being at the vet, she obviously trusted in Dr. Zern, and subsequently, I trust Dr. Zern immensely. He was very slow and deliberate in starting off across the room from my dog until she was comfortable. He took the time to assess my dog’s needs and choices for her health and breed. He was very up to date on current veterinary science and procedures. The staff is also great! They are kind, patient, and understanding. Debbie at the front desk has taken countless calls from me just in the last two months, and she is so so patient and helpful. She even took the time to price things out for me ahead of time because I am budget conscious right now. Finally, the prices were reasonable and totally fair! I highly recommend this location and Dr. Zern!

Experiencia fantástica: My first time ever to a vet and I felt very welcomed and comfortable. The ladies in the front were very nice and the doctor was also very nice and handled my cat very well. I'm thankful she helped me get my cat back to being healthy. I'll definitely be bringing my other cat there too! Also it was very clean inside and also the nurses went above and beyond by cleaning my cat carrier after my (scaredy) cat peed in it. I look forward to keeping this place as my go to veterinarian.

Experiencia fantástica: I cannot say enough good about Dr. Zern and the staff ! It’s obvious Dr. Zern loves what he does! I could write a paragraph, but I’ll just say that animals have been a huge part of my entire life and I’ve worked with a lot of vets over the years. Dr. Zern is definitely the best small animal vet I’ve ever dealt with, and I’m very thankful to have found this practice. The staff is sweet and the whole vibe of the place is friendly and welcoming! The only thing negative I could say is I wish they treated large animals too, because they would be treating my horses as well!!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Zern was amazing. I had called ahead to let the staff know that my dog, Gunner, is extremely anxious when it comes to going to the vet. Knowing this Dr. Zern sat in a chair in the waiting room across from Gunner. Doc began talking to me about my concerns and while talking to me he slowly approached Gunner. Got down on one knee and was able to pet him and could see what he needed to see in order to get Gunner feeling better. My old vet would put us in a small room and make ME muzzle Gunner. Dr. Zern will be our new vet!! Thank you so much Dr.zern. I also had an issue with my bill and the office manager was great at resolving the issue. Great Place to take your animals!!!!!!

He takes the time to talk to you about your pet and analyzes the situation from a doctor's perspective, a pet owner's perspective and from your perspective as well. He does not try to sell services that may not be needed for your pet or may not provide value | health benefits considering the situation. He is trustworthy and we are lucky that we have a vet that we trust. Staff is friendly and they are as helpful.

Experiencia negativa: By far the worst Vet in town. If you have a bully breed, i STRONGLY suggest you don't make a visit to Dr. Zern's office. His people skills are just down right horrible. We brought our dog in to him last year and had an awful experience with Dr. Zern. He was very rude and made it seem like my dog was dangerous because of his breed. I asked the vet tech if he takes precautions the way he did with all mastiffs and he said "yes, all bully breeds because he's had a bad experience". There was no reason to treat us as if we had brought in Cujo just because of his breed. On top of it all, we needed to have surgery eventually due to an ACL tear and he FORCED us to get the flu shot. He said that NO place around would do surgery on him without getting the flu shot. That was a LIE. I called 3 places once we left his office and all 3 said that they did not require this vaccine in order to do surgery. I called his office back to let him know and the receptionist was extremely rude and just said, "ok, he made a mistake". Don't ever bring your dog to him!
We will have to simply state that we do not agree with the statements in your review. It is unfortunate that you felt this strongly, yet never contacted hospital management to discuss your concerns so that we could address them.Dr. Zern has successfully worked with many "bully" breeds during his 25+ year career - including many years working with Mastiff rescues and also local trainers that specialize in protection trained dogs, many of which were Mastiff breeds. His assessment of a patient's temperament is based on each individual animal and how they behave, not on breed.Regarding the requirement of a Canine Influenza vaccine, we do require patients to be current on vaccines for elective surgeries - this is for both the protection of your pet, as well as all the others in our hospital. I believe at the time of your visit the Central Florida area was experiencing multiple episodes of Canine Influenza, so this vaccine was required. While each hospital has their own protocol, it is common practice for the CIV to be required during times of outbreaks. However, we never force any client to give their pet any vaccines. They are recommended for your pet's protection and some are required for admission to our hospital and for boarding.It has been some time since your visit and review, if you would still like to discuss your experience please feel free to contact CVH management at 407-366-3233 or [email protected].

Dr. Zern is very compassionate and always comes out and talks to us about any issues. We drive 30 plus mins to see Dr. Zern when we have three vets less than three mins from our home. Experiencia fantástica: I recently changed to Chuluota vet. Dr. Zern was so compassionate with our old lab. He got down on the ground with him while he was checking his lumps. My dog bathed him with licks and Dr. Zern welcomed it! At my old vets I was overcharged for everything! Chuluota vet was by far the most reasonable vet financially I have ever encountered. I love Chuluota Vet and would recommend them to anyone!!

Experiencia negativa: I've been to this doctor's office twice and both times felt as though I'd been fleeced. The first time I went was to bring my new puppy in for an examination of his paw. CLEARLY he'd been bitten or stung, but "dr" zern claimed he had to do an xray to make sure there were no broken bones. Before that happened however the "dr" complained to his staff - and ME - that there was a dog in his office that he hadn't seen before and how did he know the dog didn't have diseased and if he'd been vaccinated. Does he do this every time someone brings a pet in for their first visit? The bill that day was over $250. Today, $47 for an emergency visit at 8:30 AM - and I'm the only one there, plus another $47 for the actual visit, plus the cost of putting a catheter in my cat without my authorization. Total was just over $138.48. A little background. This morning my cat was obviously in distress. It was 7:30 AM and I immediately called my usual vet. I was told by the staff he wouldn't be in until 9:20. They gave me the number of another vet to try. I got a machine at that number. So I reluctantly called chulouta veterinary hospital and was told the "dr" would be in at 8:20. So i went there. I was told there would be the $47 "emergency" charge. The diagnosis, which took the "dr" less than a minute to make, was unclear. Either my cat was going to die from congestive heart failure or there could be tests done to find out what was really wrong with him. I inquired as to the costs and just could NOT get a straight answer. Considering that it was now approximately 8:40, I made the decision to leave with my cat to take him to my usual vet. Well, the "dr" didn't like that. All those dollar signs were going to walk out the door and he DEMANDED to know why I was leaving. I told him I was going to take the cat home. I didn't think I owed him a detailed explanation. He didn't like that answer and started shouting and became argumentative. I finally told him it was none of his business and that he needed to get my cat. He told me not to come back. I told him not to worry about that. I paid my bill and left. I have to point out that I never saw the "dr." either time I went to him until it was time for the fleecing. What vet doesn't allow a pet owner into the examination room? Only this one based on my experience. This alone should send up red flags. What are you hiding? STAY AWAY! And don't worry "z" (he likes to be called "z"), I won't be coming back. Ever. ZZZzzzzzzzzz.
