Experiencia negativa: No good. My dog is going to heaven tonight because the doctor didn’t see my dog has neumonía we went home and two days after me talking with them the other doctor call me from their office and recommend me to bring him to the hospital. 2 days late make a huge difference in dogs life.
Experiencia fantástica: Shaffer is a great Animal Hospital. The most important issue I have is the qualifications of the vets. As far as I am aware, every vet on staff, except one, is a Board Certified Veterinary physician. That matters to me. The other issue that matters to me is that the practice is not corporate owned. I have had the experience of having my dog treated at a corporately owned facility and it is not good. They hire anybody and only care about money. They also make lots of mistakes because nobody cares. I like Shaffer AH and my intent is to continue to have my dog cared for there.

Experiencia fantástica: They are so sweet and professional. Our dog is leash reactive to other dogs, so they always make sure the path is clear before bringing us directly to a room. And she doesn't love being handled being handled, so they're doing 6 weeks of inexpensive victory visits with handling training. We've been through several vets trying to find a place that truly cares, and now we happily make the drive from the Universal area.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve taken 4 pets here and I need to thank them for their various services they’ve provided. The doctors are kind and the front office is understanding. One of my babies had to be euthanized due to complications from old age and they were the best. They had a private room you sit in and I was able to hold her as she gently and quickly passed. I fear my cats time is near as he is a senior but I will take him to Shaffer once the time nears. I also have a dog that has suddenly developed seizures and has gone blind. They fought to get me the assistance I needed and all the doctors I’ve seen have been informative. The front desk staff is great and, although there was a small misunderstanding once, they were understanding about why I had that concern and about my emotions. Lastly, I get two of my other pups grooming at GO Dogs and they’ve been great with handling my senior in the past and my now disabled pup. Plus my not so nice pup. The fact that the clinic is connected and they can bring them to the vet in case of a bad seizure or emergency is a big plus. Thank you!

Experiencia fantástica: I have been bringing my dogs here for 20 years! I used to live right around the corner but moved 30 minutes away. After moving, I tried a few vets closer to my new home but no one compared to Shaffer so I make the drive. From the receptionists to the techs to the vets, I've always felt welcome and listened to. Experiencia fantástica: I decided to take my 8 month old Dalmatia to Shaffer after seeing more than a couple recommendations on a Reddit thread. Everyone was professional, informative, and informed. They were all great with my dog who is very anxious, jittery and reactive. I'm also so surprised that the cost was reasonable and lower than I expected, considering how clean the facility is and how streamlined and professional they were. Extremely dissatisfied with service went to try out Shaffer animal hospital boy was I impressed unfortunately I had to put my dog down today but with the exceptional service that I received at Shaffer I will forever recommend anyone looking for veterinary care to go to them. ! they have exceptional quality customer service team just to name a few of them, Samantha Haley, Dr. Jen, Dr. Witt and Jamie were amazing. They make it to where you feel important you feel you’re being hurt as a pet parent they give you different solutions instead of just going with the first choice, there’s all kinds of options for treatments and they are affordable if you’re looking for a vet that offers quality service look no further !

Experiencia fantástica: In a league of their own! I’ve never had a veterinary staff that would do so much to make my baby as comfortable as possible. And I really mean SO MUCH. They have a side door for a quieter entrance if you need, a treat bar with plenty of options , they use pheromones and quiet music in the room, topical lidocaine for injections, you can wait in your calm car instead of a chaotic waiting room, they check you out in the exam room, their own daycare/grooming/training center next door, and MORE. That’s not even including the top notch staff that are so sweet and gentle and think of everything. Thanks to them, he actually looks forward to the vet and happily runs to them for love (and treats). Olivia and Dr.Witt especially have been absolute angels!! They have given me so much advice, answered any questions, and eased my many worries. They’ve both personally done so much to help Ollie’s (and my) anxiety with vet visits and his home life. Even though they truly go the extra mile in everything they do, they manage to keep prices comparable and even cheaper than my previous vets. I can’t recommend them enough and wish every pet had such a compassionate team.

Experiencia fantástica: I have had doggies for 40+ years. Different breeds some AKC, some mutts, some rescues, and some from a breeder. During all those years I've gone to various vets both here in Florida as well as in New Jersey from where I moved 30 years ago. None have come remotely close to exhibiting the genuine care and love for their 4-pawed, fuzzy clients as Shaffer Animal Hospital. The entire staff, from Techs to Vets, are friendly and compassionate. The Fear free and antistress approach are priceless. HIGHLY recommended ✌️

I see the team here often because I have four pets and one of my dogs suffers from allergies which requires more frequent visits. Dr. Patel is very patient and knowledgeable and the techs are always very friendly and handle my pets with care. Great practice!

They are extremely knowledgeable and always have your fur family top priority. Rest assured your fur family will be taken very good care of. I can't say enough about the techs that handle your fur family with such care and will work with you to ensure they are treated with a gentle touch. The front office people, I have known Debbie for years and is always going above and beyond to help with anything. Experiencia fantástica: This is the best vet and groomer in the world. The care your furbaby receives is above and beyond anything you can ever hope to receive. The doctors, staff, grooming staff and groomer are excellant. I now drive over an hour to keep my little boy with them, where we once lived we were only 5 minutes away. I will continue to drive for all his needs even if I have to uber it. Dr. Patel is the best and all staff members on both sides are above and beyond. Thank you everyone for his winderful care on our visit yesterday. We love you all.

Experiencia negativa: I want people to BEWARE of this vet office. I had been going here with my dogs since 2020. I actually had a great experience with them until about 2022, I sensed something fishy was going on. EVERY SINGLE TIME I brought my two dogs in there they told me both of them had worms. It got to the point where I had spent probably well over $500 on just deworming meds alone (not including cost for test being done and appointments). Something seemed fishy to me after I took my dogs in 6 months prior, and treated them both for worms. Only to be told they have worms again 6 months later. I immediately closed my accounts and stopped going to Shaffer because I felt something was off with them claiming my dogs had worms EVERY TIME THEY WERE THERE, despite showing zero signs of having worms. When I closed the account I did NOT pick up the deworming medication as it was $160 for both dogs. I’m glad I did because when I got them established with another vet MONTHS LATER WITHOUT DEWORMING TREATMENT, my hunch was correct and BOTH their tests came back negative for any type of worms. I hope this hasn’t happened to any other customers, but I thought people should be aware because god knows how much money I flushed down the drain treating them for worms they didn’t have over the years.

Experiencia fantástica: This place is great. I've had two emergencies with one of my pups and they were able to see her quickly both times. They really seem to care about your pets and I've now decided to keep them as my permanent pet's vet (3 dogs and a cat). I had seen them before a couple of years ago and when I moved switched to a different vet. Now that I've moved back, they are definitely stuck with my mini zoo. Some things offered are a bit expensive but that's to be expected as they use different methods and do tests that are more comprehensive than some of the lower costs clinics. I do admit to visiting lower costs clinics for some surgery and dental related things but I trust Shaffer Hospital for vaccinations, emergencies, and wellness checks. They don't push services at you at all but I do wish they would give an estimate before all the services are actually done when you are in the room. It's just helpful to keep track of the costs especially when bringing in multiple pets. However, they have never overcharged me or added a service we did not speak of beforehand, the estimate thing is just a personal preference for me. I trust them to give me the truth about my pets health and what they need. Shaffer also has a grooming service which I highly recommend. I usually cut my pups hair but, when I took my girl, they did a wonderful job. She ended up looking so precious and they treated her well. Thanks Shaffer!

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my fearful rescue dog here for the first time today - since my dog is blind, he is often frightened by new people and situations which makes going to the vet a challenge! Everyone at Shaffer was so incredibly patient and understanding for his situation, and went above and beyond to ensure that Odin's first 'victory visit' was a positive experience. I would highly recommend them!

Experiencia fantástica: We cannot be happier with the whole staff and Dr. Jennifer! Our pup was diagnosed with Addison's disease and it was a long 10 days to get diagnosis. We went through endless tests and 3 different clinics and vets that didn't know what to do with her or cared enough to learn. The clinic was recommended on a Facebook group for Addison's dogs and after the first visit with Dr. Jennifer yesterday I know my pup is in the best hands! Also after spending 10days in different clinics, IV drips, daily bloodwork, ultrasounds my pup started to get nervous about going to the vet, this place definitely is equipped and has the knowledge to combat that and out her at ease. From the bottom of my heart thank you Dr. Jennifer! And thank you to whole staff, we are finally certain that our girl will be healthy for years to come ❤️

Experiencia fantástica: I wanted to update this review for the post-Covid times. I have been a client of SAH since the early 2000s. This means that I have had multiple pets go through their entire lifetime of care at SAH. I have gone through major allergy issues, behavioral issues, dental issues, cancer, joint and mobility issues - my pets have always been treated with humane care. I’m forever grateful. The staff and vets are a 10. Shaffer’s has my heart because they do Fear Free training for their staff. It makes your pet relaxed for their visit. I love this place! Updating again on 5-24-23 - this is still the best place to bring your pets for care. I am so grateful for this veterinary practice.

You can be at ease knowing that your pet is getting the utmost love from every single person there, from the CCRs to the technicians to the doctors! They’re also incredibly accommodating and understanding if you have an anxious pet. If I could give higher than 5 stars I would!

Experiencia negativa: I am not satisfied with my experience in this pet hospital. Dr.Witt is not professional and NOT doing her job. This is what happened. I wanted to order doxycycline and famciclovir from an online pharmacy which needs a prescription. I came to talk to Dr.Witt, told her how my cat is and how the cats totally fine with the medicine before. I just need to order the same medicine. I’ll pay $65 just for the script so that I can order the same pills online. That’s it. Dr.Witt, however, instead of simply putting these 2 names on the script, she spent 50% of time selling us things we don’t need. Finally, after I said no to all the stuff she recommended me to get in their hospital, she said ok, I’ll give you guys the script with the 2 med names you need. I came home with the paper and the other day I mailed it to the pharmacy. A few days later the pharmacy called to tell me there’s NO doxycycline on the paper so I can’t order it! I called the hospital to tell them the vet FORGOT to put one of the pills on paper. The front desk said she’ll ask the doctor and one day later she called to tell me the vet thinks it’s not good for the cat to be on this medication. I asked them why she didn’t tell me in person if she really thought so. They just told me to go there again and get another script. No apology, no explanation, no nothing! A whole week of time and shipping fee wasted. The way I was treated by Dr.Witt was not acceptable and I want you guys to know it.

Experiencia negativa: It took me a few days to think about posting this but after some serious thought, I decided it’s worth sharing. I moved here a year ago and started care for my dog at this clinic. Many pet owners, like me, view their pets as part of their family, like children almost. My dog recently was very ill … in fact, I had two visits within 48 hours and $1,200 later with very a general diagnosis about what was wrong. Despite promises of following up to see if my dog was better, not one phone call. The reason? They didn’t know and would have to “investigate.” I conducted my own research to see how I could help my dog recover with no help from them. How much faith do you think I have in this clinic now to treat my dog? Very disappointed… will need to look for a new vet. Deborah Bowie

Experiencia fantástica: I don't normally do a lot of reviews or a review so soon. I will edit later if needed but for now I wanted to share our experience. We had our first appointment today. I have a 3yr old, 90lbs german shepherd, husky, chow mix. He used to go to banfield who always said our pup was "great" for his visits. After his last visit? Suddenly he has terrible anxiety in public and at vet offices. Banfield still denies anything ever went wrong with him. But a dog isn't this anxious/traumatized over nothing. So we've been looking for a new vet. We arrived at Shaffer at 750am for our 8am new patient appointment for our pup, Kelsier. We were greeted at the door, checked in and sat in the waiting area for a few mins. (It looks like they're going under a bit of construction currently? Maybe fixing up some new office spaces. Since a large part of the new patient paperwork was geared towards being a fear free environment and working with anxious dogs, I do wish there had been a little heads up about the construction/noises going on? But not the end of the world) we only sat for a few mins in the waiting area trying to calm our whiney pup before we were greeted by a lovely vet tech (I can't remember her name :( ) who took us into a private waiting room to get our pup's weight and background information. Let me tell you... their staff was AMAZING to my boy. My giant badass looking dog.. who's a giant scaredy-cat, terrified of vets, trying to cower under my chair... eventually my husband and I even sat on the floor, he sat in our laps, panting, with a worried look on his face.. The staff? They were so patient, kind, and sweet to my boy. Encouraging, gentle pets and positive words.. he let them take blood for blood work, got his vaccines, checked his teeth/gums, feel around his belly and ears.. Checking him over. It was incredibly refreshing to see the techs and even Dr Smith come and sit down on the floor with us, look over my pup and be so gentle with him and sooo understanding. He's truly a gentle giant, and where places like Banfield who immediately just suggests drugging up my dog to "calm him".. these fabulous women all treated my pup with positive, happy voices, and lots of pets and affection :) By the end of our visit we felt heard and a future worry off our shoulders knowing how well they handle nervous pups. By the end of our appointment, my nervous, scared boy... was greeting the staff with smiles, kisses, and a huge wagging tail.. while accepting snacks from the staff! Our pup never accepts treats in public... he's normally too scared. It warmed our hearts. I am beyond thankful and impressed with how my pup was treated today and I look forward to working with you all in the future. Thank you! **8/15 @632pm already my first edit! So on the app there's a separate appt reminder that DOES mention the office construction and to let them know of your arrival to make sure they have a room ready for you to wait in! I didn't see this originally. I got the reminder call from the receptionist to confirm our appt, I didn't check the app before our appt and see the message.
Firstly, we want to thank you for taking the time to provide us and the community feedback on how we are doing. We are undergoing renovations which has been challenging but because of your review we have added this information to not only our appointment reminder information but through other ways in an effort to be more clear in communications. Our contractors have been wonderful in accommodating pets that need special care to manage their anxiety and have done a majority of the work at night and the weekends. We thank you for your patience with this process. We are so pleased to hear that you appreciate the time and care our staff and doctors give to their patients. Letting them warm up to us and getting on their level is just one of the many ways our Fear Free certified staff can help ease a pet’s fear and of course snacks ALWAYS help! Experiencia fantástica: I switched to Dr. Patel after deciding my current vet clinic wasn’t a good choice to treat my German Shepherd’s hip issues. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Patel and this veterinary practice. Dr. Patel is very knowledgeable, but also she takes her time to explain in great detail. Greta is not an easy patient, yet they took so many steps to ensure her comfort and reduce her anxiety. The practice management and staff are on point too.

Experiencia negativa: Been coming here for about 6 years now. Constantly have to remind them to trim our dogs nails. Had a surgery and were asked if we wanted the mass removed analyzes for another $130, which we did only to never see any results. Last trip today 6/19/2023, our daughters (early twenties in age) took our dog and and were left in the room for nearly 90 minutes waiting on a billing specialist to come in. They came out several times and no one was there. Apparently, they were all on their lunch break. When they finally saw someone they were told to go back and wait in the room. They explained we have been there for over an hour waiting and came out several times and no one has been out front or come to see them. Last trip there

Experiencia fantástica: Another great visit at Shaffer Animal Hospital! Was time for my girls yearly checkup/bloodwork, so we used the app this time to book an appointment with Dr. Kelsey Smith. All the techs we saw, and Dr. Smith were amazing to work with and super sweet and gentle with my old lady. She can be a little nervous, but the staff always do their best to put her at ease with lots of yummy treats and pets in between the pokey parts of the visit. We’ll definitely be coming in for a happy visit sometime soon to see everyone again! Enjoy a picture of the old lady in question having a nap after long hard day of getting vaccines and blood drawn.

Experiencia fantástica: Wow! I am blown away with the service provided today at Shaffer Animal Hospital. This here is Luna, my 3 yr old Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Luna previously went to EOAH on Lake Underhill and her doctor will be leaving soon so we made the switch to Shaffer because they are a Fear Free Certified Veterinarian Hospital. I myself am a Fear Free Certified Professional Groomer so implementing a Fear Free environment at the vet was crucial for me as we are heavily involved with Fear Free methods at home and in my grooming salon. We met with Dr. Gerish this morning, and was serviced by our technician, Jade. Each young lady represented themselves very professionally and met the core standards of Fear Free beautifully. My Luna was so comfortable and relaxed during her visit and was able to get her vaccines done without the stress and fear that normally comes with having her vaccines done at her old vet. My favorite part of today’s interaction was the way they allow each client into the office. You simply wait in your car and text on arrival, a technician will escort you to an exam room so theres no sitting and waiting in the wait area with a bunch of overly anxious pets barking or meowing and you are seen and taken care of immediately. Dr. Gerish took the time to listen to Luna’s needs and we sat on the floor throughout the duration of her visit which made Luna a lot more comfortable than being put on the exam table. Luna’s favorite part was the unlimited amount cheese whiz and peanut butter given throughout! I would also like to add that I found their prices to be very affordable compared to my old vet, which I love! We are very happy with our switch and will be bringing our other 3 pets here! Thank you again ladies for such a pleasant experience.

She always responded to all my questions and concerns. We never felt rushed when we were at our appointments, and I felt that she genuinely cared. Benji was diagnosed with cancer and Dr Jennifer was very caring and empathetic through the process. It was a difficult time for us as our poor boy eventually passed away but Dr. Jennifer helped to smooth the transition for us and for our Benji.

Dr. Gerrish and her technician sat on the floor with Prym the entire time and made sure she was comfortable for her visit. Prym left with a smile on her face and a belly full of treats! Our curbside concierge service is a permanent option for those who prefer and while started as a COVID protocol, has become a preferred method for most. We escort you into your personal room as soon as one is available for you and your pet to wait for the doctor. We find pets are less stressed than waiting in a traditional lobby area. If you prefer for your next visit, you are welcome to come inside and wait with your pet until a room is available. We are always happy to see our clients!

Experiencia negativa: The two stars are for excellent doctor Jette and she is no longer working there. Otherwise: I took my cats there for years because of the doctors and the vicinity. Unfortunately this practice became money oriented, and the vets and technicians are overly worked and too busy to talk to pets owners. My cat went there for a whole day to find out he is diabetic! I followed all the vet recommended steps in feeding and giving him insulin shot twice daily.. I took the cat back there for third time for follow up exam and blood test to make sure he’s given the right insulin dosage; they called me after 4 -5 hours to come and pick him up because he was “ upset”. . I did so . The doctor did not see me or talk to me . I received a call from the doctor, upon my request, the doctor mentioned that my cat lost a lot of weight in a fast manner. She recommended to make sure he eats on time before his insulin shots. I called today: 8 days after last visit to the clinic and wanted to speak to the doctor or have any doctor available to call me back when convenient . I wanted to know the reason they want me to bring my cat back for more blood work to exclude any other reason for loosing weight when he was at their clinic 8 days ago for 5 hours and the doctor was concerned about his weight loss! I wanted to know the reason I have to pay for an emergency visit if I want him to be seen the same day or schedule another visit later on and pay a regular visit fee ... No explanation was given for not running the blood test 8 days ago and no willingness to have a doctor return my call when available. I asked for my cat record to be given to me as I am planning to take him and all my other pets to another practice where the Well-being of the pet comes first!
Ms. Shahbandar,We were disheartened that in spite of our best efforts during your visits, you were still dissatisfied with your pet’s care. Diabetes can at times be a difficult condition to manage. Communication and quality of care are two things we take very seriously at Shaffer Animal Hospital. As such, we have taken this opportunity to review your pet’s case. Though we were not able to mutually find a solution and have ended our professional relationship together, we truly wish you and all of your pets the best.
