Fantastic experience: My experience at the Animal Clinic of Farmers Branch today was outstanding. The vet tech was incredibly friendly, patient and helpful. Dr. Ponsford handled my anxious dog with calm confidence, checking everything thoroughly, and giving me much needed practical advice! Linda who checked me out was a wonderful reminder of the old location. She took fantastic care of me and made me feel at home. All around exceptional.

Fantastic experience: I have been a client for years with our previous dogs. Brought our new dog for exam and vaccinations. He was stressed they were so patient and kind.

Fantastic experience: I was concerned with possible worms in a cute little red stray kitten that came into my yard starving. With a little food and he was mine, soon he took over the house. So living pay check to pay check, I needed to have him check for worms first, The staff & Dr's were understanding with my lack of funds, so my next paycheck & he gets his shots. Oh bye the way, he was a she & she's in excellent health. Thats the kind of help we all need when it comes to our pets.

Negative experience: For local and routine veterinary care, this clinic is very good and has been helpful. However, I had a very disappointing experience when it came to international pet travel. The clinic was informed multiple times that my pet would be moving internationally, yet I was never advised about the required international health certificate. Because of this, I found out too late that during a connecting flight my pet could not continue traveling. This led to changed travel plans, additional costs, and me now being away from my pet in a new country. My takeaway is that for international pet travel, owners should be proactive and verify requirements themselves rather than relying solely on this vet or clinic for guidance.

Negative experience: Edit - 12/2026: I have not been to the clinic in many years since I moved out of the area. But my family still goes here for their animals. I am extremely disappointed in the staff and office today. My mother called the office this morning because her dog was dying. She told them she needed to go ahead and have him put down. (He's been battling cancer and other issues for a while now). She was made to make an an appointment and told the earliest available was not until 10 or 10:30am. (It was 8:00). They were going to make her wait for over 2 hours while her dog was actively dying. When I arrived at her house I told her we were going to MedVet. I understand this is not an "emergency" clinic. But emergencies should still take priority over someone getting routine vaccines or getting an ear infection checked out. This is not quality vet care. And I will never consider bringing my animals here in future. Do better...our animals, our babies deserve no less. Posted in 2016: My family has been coming here since I was about 7 years old. Most of the staff knows me and my family. And I have become very good friends with Pam. She is almost always there when I come in. She is up at the front counter taking phone calls or checking people in or out. My mom brought my 17 year old cat up there this morning. It was determined that it was best to go ahead and put him down. I was not able to be there because I had things I had to take care of at work. My mom did not want to be in the room. So I asked her to see if Pam would sit with him. Pam took him back and loved on him in his final moments. I know that Bandit felt safe and loved. I would just like to give Pam a shout out and big thank you for taking care of my baby. I know he is in great hands.

Negative experience: They gave up trying to treat my dog after giving it unneeded surgery… They are on the money hungry side unfortunately.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful, caring and detail oriented as always - our cat us always very well cared for here at the expertise of the wonderful doctors and nurses.

Negative experience: I am devastated and furious about my experience at this clinic. I brought my puppy in because he was panting, losing his balance, and breathing heavily. They ran X-rays and bloodwork and told me everything looked “fine.” They gave my dog medication, charged me a large amount, and sent me home — one day later my puppy was dead. I expected honest, thorough care and answers. Instead I left with more questions than reassurance, and now I’m left grieving and out the money. If you care about your pet, think twice before taking them here. I will be requesting the medical records and filing complaints with the state veterinary board.

Fantastic experience: OMG, I have 3 dogs, all different breeds and different sizes. We have been coming here for years and I just love them and so do my dogs! Everyone is so kind and so helpful and everything is explained in detail and the price is so good and very reasonable compared to others that we have been to!! Negative experience: I took my dog for visit 2 weeks ago bcz she was coughing I googled it said if a dog coughs & breathing from stomach it's signs of heart disease but in this clinic they said (after only two minutes) it's infection in her lungs they gave me medicine only for coughing, few days ago my little baby passed away I wanna know as a doctor don't you feel guilty to give wrong medicine and not even putting time and check carefully?!!!! why is everything about money this days & you charge me 179$ for 5 minutes she could be alive if you be careful about what you doing. I have another dog and never going back bcz they did injections for this one said she has allergies reaction since losing heirs nothing has been changed. I can't put my anger in words.

Positive experience: I've been their customer since 2015 when they were in a smaller location in the back of this one. they used to be so affordable like 5$ for a shot + 20$ visit & give you time and care but now the price are same as other expensive places I understand everything is more expensive now but 200$ for a 5min visit and one shot is crazy, the staff at front all young people with no care not even say Hi seems like they just show up to work, also every time dr change they say something different than other now I'm concerned if they really knowledge about what they say. This 3 stars are for past when they were really good.

Negative experience: DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE I initially took my chihuahua for a check up since she’s a senior dog 15years old. I had ask the vet DR CARY SPRATT my initial questions about what my senior dog has been experiencing and was asking about holistic care- she proceeded to give me a list for some recommendations, but didn’t really seem like she knew what she was talking about. The vet DR CARY SPRATT had let me know about overdue vaccines - of course i asked all the question a owner would ask for about their senior dogs and all the concerns - like “is she able to receive them all at once” “would she get any reactions?” “Are they recommended?” Etc The vet DR CARY SPRATT replied back with no reason to worry unless she’s had reactions to vaccines before, I respond no never, so we proceeded and my dog got all her vaccines. Everything seemed well until 3 hours later after the visit, my dog was roaming around like crazy ended up throwing up 3 times, she started getting hives everywhere, eyes swelling up. I immediately called the vet and was told to bring her in, she vomited 3 times again on the way there and again once we arrived, she then proceeded to have diarrhea in the lobby 3 times but it was super small,clear and jelly like. My dog also started twitching, the vet DR CARY SPRATT dismissed it all as NORMAL REACTION!!!!! The vet DR CARY SPRATT proceeded to prescribe more medication and said SHE WAS FINE, completely ignoring the fact she was HAVING AN ALLERGIC REACTION to these vaccines. I had let the vet know DR CARY SPRATT I wasn’t going to proceed with the medications she’s prescribing and I was going to take my dog to THE EMERGENCY ROOM. Once I arrived at the emergency hospital, they told me my dog was having an ANAPHYLACTIC REACTION and was LUCKY I GOT THERE ON TIME!!! I spend roughly 7 hours at the emergency room getting the proper care, well known education and medical knowledge I was needing and looking for my dog !!!! DO NOT COME HERE !! DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE !!! FIND A NEW VET!!!

Fantastic experience: A lot of friends recommended me this clinic since my dog had a terrible diarrhea (bloody diarrhea) so I decided to go, the staff was so kind and helpful, they respected my budget and still helped my dog with everything he needed to get better, they explained to me very carefully how to give him his treatment and also they noticed he had a hot spot and took care of it, which I’m very grateful for! This happened yesterday morning and with the treatment my dog got a lot better in the afternoon, today he’s so much better. No doubts I’m recommending this clinic to my friends, and now I know there’s an animal clinic that I can go trusting that they’re going to do their best to help, and that they care.

Negative experience: Just came by here at 4:35 on Friday knowing they close at 5 so I was being nice seeing if I could get my dog in for his Allergy shots. Which I come by for every 8 weeks. It's always a walk in, and I am in and out in less than 10 minutes. Older lady at the front had an attitude with me. "Well do you have an appointment?, I'll see but my staff walks out of here at 5." All rude and irritated with me. Her tone of voice was what set me off. I was like okay I understand if they can't I will come back another day. They ended up getting me in. I would say I I am done with this place. Don't like being treated like that as a long time customer who has spent a lot of money here.

The team is amazing and patient with the seniors, like when my 14 yr old GSD crossed over the rainbow bridge they were so supportive and there for her and I. Fantastic experience: UPDATE BELOW: Always an awesome experience here. I've taken my old lab here on two occasions in the last 1.5 years. Both times I thought I was taking him for his last ride and both times my old guy has come thru and walked away in better condition than we came in. The staff here is always excellent and all of them are very caring and have empathy for all of our animals. UPDATE 6/26/2025: Came in first thing on a Monday with no appointment, was seen relatively quickly considering. Met another new Vet this time. Dr. Ponsford, he has been there a year, but had not worked with him prior. He is another great vet who displays an enormous level concern, care and empathy, not only for the pets, but for their human counter-parts as well. This time it was my 15yo female lab that was having trouble. I thought it might be time to make that hard decision, but once again, these guys have sent me home with a pet that is making improvements every day. I have been coming to this place since Dr. Jim Miller owned it back in the 70s when I was a kid. The staff here has earned my ultimate respect and I would never consider going anywhere else for quality care for our fur babies !! Thank you Animal Clinic of Farmers Branch !!!

Fantastic experience: My dog injured her ankle while playing fetch and started limping and the ankle swelled pretty bad. We went to the vet with no appointment. Got in pretty fast, got x-rays which showed no break but got a shot for pain and a steroid shot. Wrapped the leg, which got her a lot of sympathy. She is walking with no limp the very next day. Making her take it easy next few days. Nice folks at the front desk doctor and staff were great. Recommend this Clinic.

Fantastic experience: Love the way they take care of my kids....I have been going there for over 30 years...have always been very happy and satisfied with their service., and attention. Very detailed and explain everything to your understanding....I always refer people I know to them because I trust that they will always go beyond to make sure my kids are good, happy and healthy. When I lived in mesquite I would drive all the way to Carrolton because I trust the workt they do. My husband and I will be driving from Oklahoma to bring them for their check ups and shots as well because eventually we will be moving over there. But it will be well worth the trip for my kids health. I came in pretty stressed because he had a lump, but the team was calm, kind, and gave him a thorough checkup without making it feel scary for either of us. They explained everything clearly, gave me all the options along with a super helpful price breakdown (bless them), and didn’t make me feel weird at all when I mentioned I was on a budget. The new larger facility is great! My newest furbaby Teddy Bear LOVES the staff. The Doctors are always friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Staff is always helpful and is sweet to my dogs! The Animal Clinic of Farmers Branch is also cheaper in price than any Veterinary Clinic I got prices from! Very attentive front office staff also!!!

Fantastic experience: Good low cost vet for your pets. The new location is really nice. Pretty prompt service when making an appointment. The vet assistant was very nice. Don't remember her name but she assisted Dr. Sprat. Dr. Sprat does a wonderful job caring for cats.

Negative experience: Wait and Pay. Appointment was at 1pm, clearly stated, arrived at 12:50pm and wasn't seen until 1:35pm. Front desk entered in appointment at 1:30pm. Yall need to send confirmation email or text, quick way to lose customers. Just lost this one

Fantastic experience: Animal Clinic Has been offering Some helpful. Bargains. They now offer a vaccine clinic for animals who Have had a wellness exam , but now only need vaccines. They Also have had sales on certain pet medications. Veterinary care is now so expensive, these things are truly helpful. Importantly staff and providers are kind and skillful.

They kept our appointment pretty much on time, listened to our concerns without rushing, treated our kitty with compassionate care, the doctor was helpful and informative and made us feel comfortable throughout the whole process. Fantastic experience: Brought my two yorkie teacups, Marley & Bella, here for the 16 years they lived & they always took great care of them. Dr. Spratt was so helpful & supportive with Marley's care all the way till the end. The staff was also so amazing & supportive. I couldn't ask for a better place to have brought my fur babies! I just brought my new fur baby, Myla, to be seen & everyone was so sweet to my shy girl & very patient with her.

Positive experience: The vet techs are extremely nice here but I’m always taken to a room and have to wait at least 45 minutes before seeing the doctor EVERY TIME. There is also terrible lack of communication between the staff and patients once you leave the clinic, they don’t even send out appointment reminders. Feels like they are overbooked and understaffed, I always leave feeling rushed.

Fantastic experience: We brought both dogs for vaccination. We were seen pretty quickly, getting into an exam room and being seen by the vet. She was efficient and friendly. From time we left our house to time home again was under an hour. Lots of new faces but no one was just standing around. Great service!

Negative experience: I’m writing this review to strongly urge all pet owners to use caution when taking their animal to The Animal Clinic of Farmers Branch to see Dr. Jerry Murray. We made the very difficult decision to euthanize our 14 year old family dog. Dr. Murray did not properly administer the medication and we later found out did not follow the proper euthanasia protocol for the clinic. This resulted in us watching our pet struggle in the last moments of his life for several minutes due to this vet’s negligence and incompetence. It was one of the most horrific things I have ever witnessed and my family is forever traumatized. I unfortunately have to drive past that office every day and I tear up looking at the sign because I’m brought back to that awful moment in time and those final few moments we will never get back with our sweet boy. We have taken several pets to this clinic over the years and received adequate care; however, we have now transferred all of our animals care. I would like to acknowledge the apologies, kindness and respect that the medical director, Dr. Ponsford and clinic manager offered when we made them aware of the situation. My family is grateful, however that does not change what happened.

Positive experience: My husky had surgery...everything was good except, I did not receive any pain meds for my baby and stayed up all night and morning trying to comfort him.....I could tell he's was in a lot of pain.....but he's much better now.

The techs were very empathetic to my dogs anxiety and were pros at taking blood and expressing anal glands. Highly recommend !

When our dog died last year, the vet who helped us was beyond amazing and compassionate. I drive almost 30 minutes to see them, and it's worth it.

Negative experience: Unfortunately this was the worst vet office experience I’ve ever had. I felt like the doctor didn’t listen to me whatsoever about the history of what had been happening with my dog. I feel like my concerns were dismissed and not considered when diagnosing my dog. I have little confidence in what was prescribed for my dog given the lack of attention to all the factors of her illness. We’ll see how her treatment goes, but I would not suggest this office (or possibly just the doctor I saw- which I don’t even know her name because she didn’t introduce herself) to anyone. The front desk and vet tech were kind and welcoming.

Negative experience: Called in and worked a test plan with a doctor and upon appointment, the tech comes out with over $100 worthy of extra tests and would not honor what the doctor has agreed too. Bait and switched, I am very unhappy

Negative experience: I brought my 4 lb dog to this vet during the peak of summer in Texas when he was exhibiting severe symptoms: vomiting, peeing blood, not drinking water, and struggling to urinate. Despite these alarming signs, the vet sent us home with oral antibiotics for a bladder infection, even though my dog was unable to keep anything down. I wasn't informed that an antibiotic shot was an option, and the second vet we saw was confused by this decision. The next day, another vet quickly recognized that my dog was severely dehydrated, which could have been identified by simply checking his skin—a basic examination that the first vet did not perform. My dog was given an IV and anti-nausea medication, but unfortunately, he passed away 1 day later. I truly believe that had the first vet provided more appropriate care, such as checking for dehydration and administering medication that my dog could actually keep down, the outcome might have been different. I hope that by sharing this experience, other pets receive the thorough care they need from the start.

Fantastic experience: I had the most amazing experience!! Dr. Spratt was very kind, helpful and patient. I went to get a health certificate to travel with my pet and I still needed to figure out a lot of details on how to receive the document. They walked me through the entire process and even helped me beyond what I could have ever expected. I would highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: Incredibly friendly and quick. My dog is a nervous one but everyone was so patient with her. It was the first time I have been to their new facility and it’s an upgrade in space. Overall a really great experience for a very reasonable rate. Will continue coming back.

Fantastic experience: On July 29th I took my cat Morgan, I really appreciate the way we were both treated. Dr Ponsford and his tech showed real interest and compassion towards Morgan and myself!!!!

Negative experience: Had an appointment at 3:30. Got there at 3pm. No one else in waiting room. At 3:20 two patients came in and were seen right away. Finally got seen at 3:50. We were there for a follow up visit because my cat had a fever. Doc again looked in his ears and mouth and did other checking. They did blood work and said they would call next day with results. I called around 10am and was told results were in and a tech would call me back. At 3:30 I had to call again and ask to have results emailed. I told them how unsatisfactory I was. I had to take him to the ER. He was jauntious. Why didn’t Animal Clinic doc see that. My cat ended up dying.

Fantastic experience: I’ve read a previous review about a technician named Shawna and my personal experience about her has been nothing but wonderful. I believe nothing the previous reviewer has said to be true. She has been nothing but wonderful and supportive throughout my entire time coming to the clinic. She shows a true love for every pet that I have brought and shows a paycheck means nothing to her. She’s always been very educational to me about my pets. I understand that she is not allowed to say certain things pertaining to diagnosing my pet along with treatment plans, etc. but I am fully aware of the fact she is a wonderful tech and has a bright future in this field. She has been such a wonderful and I hope she will be able to continue to take care of my pets in the future.
