VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital: Opiniones
Experiencia negativa: This review is less about the procedure itself and more about integrity and transparency. My dog was seen at this clinic a couple of months ago to evaluate a mass on her stomach. At that time, I was given an estimate of $1,200 for the surgery to remove it. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the funds available at that moment, so I waited and saved the money. A couple of months later, when I finally had the funds, I called the day before the surgery to confirm the cost and asked if the estimate was still around $1,200. I was told yes, so I scheduled the procedure for the next day. When I arrived the following morning to drop off my dog, I overheard the doctor quietly asking the receptionist for my dog’s paperwork and saying that this should not have been accepted or scheduled. Shortly after, they asked if the doctor could speak with me. I agreed, of course. The doctor examined my dog and said everything looked good. While we were talking, I pointed out two other very small spots on her body. The doctor mentioned that they were small enough to remove for essentially no additional cost, so I agreed. After that, my dog was taken to the back, and I returned to the front desk. The receptionist explained that half of the payment was required before the procedure. I agreed and asked how much it would be. She told me $1,100, which immediately confused me. When she printed the paperwork, it showed the surgery estimate as $2,100–$2,500. I explained that there must be some confusion because I had been told multiple times the cost would be around $1,200. She tried to resolve the situation, but after speaking with her supervisors and the doctor, she told me the higher amount was correct. They first explained that the original estimate had mistakenly been calculated for a large dog. However, after recalculating, the price remained the same. I then asked what had changed, and they told me the mass had grown and the surgery was now more complicated. This was surprising, as I have been monitoring the mass very carefully and it has remained the same size. When comparing both estimates, nearly every line item was significantly higher than the original quote. I understand that prices can change, and I would have understood if the cost increased slightly because of the two additional small bumps. However, seeing the price nearly double on the day of surgery put me in a very difficult position. Because of this experience, I left feeling very disappointed and uncomfortable with how the situation was handled. It felt unfair and lacking in transparency. It’s unfortunate because, aside from this experience, I do believe the doctors here are knowledgeable and skilled with dogs. However, due to this situation, I will not be returning in the future.
Vanessa, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand how pricing for treatment can seem overwhelming, especially when it changes unexpectedly. If you would like to discuss this experience further, we welcome you to email our team. Our team can be reached at [email protected]; we are here to listen and support you in any way we can.
Experiencia fantástica: Lindsay was absolutely wonderful with my dog, Benny. She was sweet, playful, and made him feel comfortable right away. She took the time to play with him and give him treats, which made such a difference in helping him relax. She was also very informative and attentive. She listened to my concerns, understood my needs, and offered helpful suggestions. Her kindness and professionalism truly stood out. You can tell she genuinely cares about the animals she works with. I’m very grateful for the care she gave Benny. Thank you, Lindsay!
Mely, thank you so much for sharing Benny's experience with us! Experiencia fantástica: I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the staff and especially to Dr. Halilovic for the care provided to my dog during his dental cleaning. Dr. Halilovic listened to my concerns as well as reached out with detailed information for consent. I train dogs and will definitely refer VCA to my clients seeking veterinary services.
Tisha, thank you so much for your heartfelt appreciation and for recognizing Dr. Halilovic and our team’s care during your dog’s dental cleaning. Your trust means a great deal to us, and we look forward to continuing to support you and your furry friends in the future!
Experiencia fantástica: The staff and Dr. Bowen have been exceptional in caring for my best friend and companion, Dingo. She has faced extremely complex medical challenges as a very elderly dog, and on more than one occasion, their care has quite literally saved her life. What I value most is the true collaboration—they take the time to talk things through with me, honestly assess her reality, and thoughtfully discuss various options and recommendations. Every time, we’ve arrived at a solution that prioritizes her quality of life. I am deeply grateful for the staff’s compassion, time, and attention, and for the partnership they bring to her care.
Angela, we adore Dingo and look forward to caring for her for many years to come. Thank you for sharing this feedback for Dr. Bowen and our team, and please never hesitate to reach out if you ever need additional care or support. Give Dingo a big hug for us!
Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful experience today! I was so worried about my pitty Stormy since she is not very good around people she doesn't know. They had no problem handling her with such confidence and put my mind at ease. Very honest and helpful with understanding finances are tight. Praying Stormy responds well to the meds if not I'm am more than happy to bring her back with confidence they will take good care of her. Thank you to all the staff there! Highly recommend VCA!
Jersey, thank you so much! We are so glad we could put your mind at ease and provide Stormy with the confident, gentle care she needed. We’re all rooting for Stormy’s quick recovery.
Experiencia fantástica: I want to express my sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Halilovic and the staff who examined our Kona girl. Sadly, it was a grim prognosis leaving our family with a difficult decision have to say goodbye to our sweet girl. Dr Halilovic and his staff were empathetic, understanding, and extremely thorough in testing. The respect and kindness shown to us during such a difficult time is something we will always remember. There are so many great things that I wish I could bring my self to write but we’re still grieving and this loss has left our family devastated. However, I did not want to miss the opportunity to thank the staff here for their work and all the effort they put into helping our girl.
Julie, thank you so much for your kind words during such a devastating time. It was an honor for Dr. Halilovic and our entire team to care for Kona and support your family. We strive to provide thorough, empathetic care, especially in the most difficult moments, and we are so touched that you took the time to share this while grieving. Our hearts are with you and your family.
Experiencia fantástica: We've been clients for years and all the doctors have been great. But our most recent experience with Dr. Schwartz was amazing. She took time to explain everything in detail and answer all my questions. I truly appreciate the extra time she spent doing this, it made all the difference. Thank you ♥️
Experiencia fantástica: Dr Bagley is amazing! I switched vets because he came recommended and I’m so glad I did. He performed a surgery for my small doodles luxating patella and did a teeth cleaning while my dog was already under to help save me some cost which I appreciated so much. He is great at explaining things so you understand and he’s just an overall nice guy with great bedside manner. Would recommend Dr Bagley and VCA cottonwood hospital! I’ve had a great experience with everyone there!
Hello, C, we are so glad that Dr. Bagley and our team provided such a positive experience, from the successful surgery to the thoughtful coordination of care for your dog. Thank you for your kind review.
Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely fantastic care. Dr. Belnap was very informative and understanding of our concern for our kitty. We so appreciated the triage arrangement so that we didn't have to wait hours (with our terrified cat stuck in a carrier) to be seen. I wish this option were available everywhere. Thank you so much!!
Lisa, thank you for taking the time to share your kind words regarding the care your kitty received from our team! We appreciate your feedback and are so glad the triage arrangement helped make the visit more comfortable for you both. If you ever need us, please feel more than free to reach out at [email protected].
Experiencia negativa: AVOID THIS PLACE! - SEVERE MISDIAGNOSIS! Sales driven surgeries rather than patient care! Pets become part of the family and we lovingly refer to Otis as our "son" or a "brother" to our son and daughter. Where ever we go he goes and we miss him any time we can't take him with us, which is why this was such a horrifying experience. During the holidays of 2025 we noticed Otis was having acute pain when we touched his belly or back. When his condition didn't improve we decided to take him into the vet. Unfortunately we chose this location. This was considered an emergency visit (being on the weekend) so prices were substantially higher than a regular visit. Initial interactions with DVM Ryan Schreyer and staff were courteous and kind. I described the conditions and concerns for Otis and x-rays were recommended. DVM Schreyer reviewed the x-rays in the exam room and was confident Otis had a blockage in his small intestine along with a foreign body in his stomach requiring surgical intervention. After sitting for a while a staff member came in with digital documents for me to sign, seeing the price of over $8k, and realizing they wanted to do surgery right away I asked to see DVM Schreyer for more explanation, since there had been no discussion of jumping into surgery right away. As DVM Schreyer began to explain the necessity of the surgery and that Otis could likely deteriorate to the point of death in the, implied, next 24 hrs, I began to feel like this was more about trying to get a surgery on the books rather than the care of Otis. As a family we prayed for Otis, gave him hugs and kisses, thinking he could die through the night, but wanting a second opinion because of the feeling that the surgery was being pushed for profit. We took the same x-rays to other vets the following day and found a completely different diagnosis with no need for surgery and that his condition could be taken care of with some inexpensive medication and rest. When contacting the Medical Directors about this they directed DVM Schreyer to call (best way for no documentation). DVM Schreyer apologized for the experience and said that ultimately prescribing Otis Hydrocodone was proper treatment for back pain. This told me they weren't willing to take responsibility for the severity of this misdiagnosis and didn't stand behind their initial findings, Hydrocodone would have made the blockage worse. Leading me to also believe the surgery was much the same as a mechanic offering services to increase the amount of revenue from a visit whether it's needed or not. In my opinion this location should be under investigation from state agencies because I wonder how many other surgeries were performed when not needed, how many family pets died as a result of a misdiagnosis.
Nikolaus, thank you for taking the time to share your perspective and for the love you clearly have for Otis. When you feel ready, please reach out to us at [email protected] so we can listen further to your experience.
Experiencia negativa: The vet and her assistant did not seem very confident during my visit. When my cat was given vaccine shots, a noticeable amount of the vaccine ended up on the exam table rather than going into my cat, which concerned me. The vet also brushed off questions I had, which made me feel like my concerns weren’t taken seriously. Additionally, the vet assistant smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, which felt inappropriate in a medical setting. I left feeling uncomfortable and not confident in the care my cat received.
Brittany, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our team is here to listen, understand, and support you as best we can. In order for us to understand the situation better we welcome you to reach out to us at [email protected] with additional details. We would like to connect soon!
Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommend. The exceptional Dr. Paul Belnap performed emergency pyometra surgery on New Year's Eve. Sasha was also diagnosed with a heart murmur which made this necessary procedure even more challenging. The little one stayed overnight in recovery monitored by a wonderful team of technicians, nurses, and assistants including Cassie, Kelly, Mitch, and Willow. In addition, Maxine was very helpful several days after the surgery with the antibiotics.
E, we are so thrilled to hear about this amazing experience. We hope Sasha is recovering, and we hope you will not hesitate to reach out if you need us for additional support or care for Sasha. Thank you for sharing the kind words and feedback for our team, we truly appreciate it.
Experiencia positiva: EDIT: I still appreciate this place and what they are able to offer. But I am a little disappointed in the last couple of visits where the communication seemed to struggle. I left several times not really sure what to expect after our visits, signs to watch for to know if things were progressing well or not. Both resulted in additional trips which is a trek as I’m coming from Orem. This last time was especially disappointing since despite the seriousness of the visit, the reason for the testing was not properly communicated (which I find surprising since I’m led to believe the outcome could be serous possibly even death) so the limited version of the test was done not the full one. I’m not here to cause trouble but I do hope the staff can review charts more carefully to communicate well and remember we are not the experts so we need the experts to help us know what to expect and when to act. I’m still grateful but I hope this aspect can improve. Thank you. Original: I’m so grateful to the staff here. Everyone was kind, welcoming, and helpful. I was a bit distressed as my dog had had a 105 degree temp for over 15 hours and my attempts to get seen elsewhere fell through. After my third failed attempt in Utah county over those 15 hours I finally decided to drive to SLC from Orem and I was finally able to get help. Major props to the staff, front desk ladies, techs, doctor and assistants. From start to finish I feel my boy was in good hands and my concerns were taken seriously.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We're delighted to hear that our team could provide the care and support needed for you and your dog during such a concerning situation.
Experiencia negativa: This clinic wanted 60 p dollars to give my cat cpr. They cared more about money than all 9 of my cats that dropped dead .
Mandy, we are truly sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a pet is difficult, and our hearts go out to you during this time. We want you to know that our team is here to listen and understand and if you would like to discuss this further, please email us at [email protected], so we can gather the situation better and provide support where we can.
Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been here twice with my Golden retriever, both times the staff has been extremely friendly, caring, and detail oriented. It’s amazing know I have an emergency vet that I can count on for honest and quality care. Thank you all for all your help!
Dexx, thank you so much for your kind words! We are glad to hear that our team has been able to provide your sweet pup with the quality care and support you expect. Thank you for being a part of our VCA Cottonwood family, and please feel free to reach out to us anytime at [email protected].
Experiencia fantástica: I've had a lot of good doctors here but wanted to throw a shout out to Dr. Carlomagno today. She was wonderful in helping me with my cat, and spent time diagnose what could be going on and made sure we had a solid treatment plan before we were discharged. She was so kind and I would personally ask for her to treat my cats again. Thank you!!
Sami, thank you for this positive feedback and kind words for our team. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with Dr. Carlomagno and look forward to serving you and your pet for many more years to come!
Experiencia fantástica: I brought my Rottweiler into see them fearing he had bloat. They got us right in and saw him and didn't charge us after looking him over. Awesome customer service!
Wow, thank you so much for sharing this great experience Derek. Our team truly appreciates you and asks that you never hesitate to reach out if you need care for your pet! We are here always to provide the best quality care for you both.
Experiencia fantástica: The care provided for my pet's needs were affordable, and the staff is empathic and helpful towards any questions I had before, during, and after care. After taking my kitten home, I called with questions about his treatment during his stay and Dustin was able to provide ample and detailed information. They are always available and their best interest is in your pet's health.
Jasmine, thank you so much for sharing your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear that you felt supported and well-informed throughout your kitten’s care. It means a lot to know that our efforts to keep your pet’s best interest at heart are appreciated. If you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected].
Experiencia fantástica: The entire staff at the emergency hospital are so kind and empathetic-you trust them immediately with your beloved dogs (or cats) who they treat as cherished family members
Thank you for sharing your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear that our team could provide care that made you feel confident and supported during your visit. It means so much to us to know your pets felt safe and well cared for.
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you Dr. Wagner and all the beautiful vet techs, and receptionist for your love, care and compassion you not only showed my sweet London girl in her final moments but the care and compassion you all showed me as well. I appreciate your strong work and kindness.
Haylee, thank you so much for your kind words. We are truly honored to have cared for London and to support you during such a difficult time. Your recognition of Dr. Wagner and our team means so much, and we’re grateful we could be there for both of you. Sending you comfort and peace.
Experiencia negativa: VCA has entirely lost my business. Today my families yorkie swallowed a golf marker with an extremely sharp end. We tried to take him and were turned away with the excuse of “we have more critical patients” EXCUSE ME?! I work in human healthcare and that is not the way you talk to someone concerned about a family member. I get it if you’re busy and the pet won’t be seen quickly enough but phrase it differently?! No compassion or empathy. A sorry excuse for a vet clinic with EMERGENCY services and a sorry excuse for a doctor who gave the order to turn our baby away. Not upset about being turned away I get it is they’re at full capacity it’s the way it was addressed. Do better.
B. Stod, thank you for sharing what happened. We can only imagine how stressful that situation must have been for you and your family, and we’re truly sorry it felt anything less than compassionate. Your feedback matters to us, and we’d really appreciate the chance to understand more about your experience. Please reach out to us at [email protected] or call 1-800-966-1822 so we can talk with you directly.
Experiencia negativa: I went to this vet clinic for years and have been having progressively worse and worse experiences. There is always constant pressure to do more lab tests than necessary. Their solution to nearly everything is prescription kibble they get kickbacks on. The last time we were in we spent a hour waiting in a treatment room that hasn't been cleaned. I know this because there were puddles of dog piss all over the floor that me and my cat had to sit in in and fecal matter stains on the wall. It smelled so bad I spent 30minutez of that wait cleaning it up with paper towels from the sink. Going to find a better vet. Literally anywhere else.
Erik, we're truly sorry to hear about your experience. Our team is committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care, and it's disheartening to know we fell short. If you're open to it, we would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you to better understand what happened. Please reach out to us at 1-800-966-1822 or email [email protected].
Experiencia negativa: Heartbroken by the lack of care my dog received. I brought my French Bulldog to this emergency vet because she was disoriented, couldn’t walk, was extremely lethargic, and her eyes were glazed over. I told the staff how serious her condition was, yet they said she wasn’t urgent enough to be seen right away. We waited over 2½ hours before anyone examined her. When Dr. Steffanie Wagner finally came in, she told me my dog’s vitals “looked great” and her heart sounded fine. She then focused on how “Frenchies often have breathing problems because of their noses,” completely dismissing my concerns about her being unable to walk, her lethargy, and her glazed eyes. No one even asked how old she was, which felt shocking for an emergency evaluation. Dr. Wagner said my dog was “doing fine” in the oxygen chamber, but based on how she looked, I did not believe she was fine. I was told we’d need to do blood work and additional tests to “assess her further,” yet there was no sense of urgency or compassion. The whole experience felt detached and more focused on running up costs than actually helping her. I told Dr. Wagner I would take my dog to my regular vet in the morning. Tragically, she passed away in the early hours before I ever got that chance. I am devastated and angry that my concerns were ignored. I trusted this emergency hospital to take my dog’s condition seriously, and instead I left feeling dismissed and helpless. My dog deserved better care and attention than she received from Dr. Wagner and this clinic.
Experiencia positiva: We’ve had some great experiences at VCA-CAH, a not great, and one absolutely awful experiences. In general, I trust CAH to do right by my pets; and it’s a comfort to know there is 24 hour care available. But - like I’ve always done with my children - I keep an eye on what’s happening, the care my pet is receiving, and ask for full explanations of everything before and after.
Diana, we thank you for the feedback and review. Our team strives to bring you and your pet the best experience and care at each visit. If you ever have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to let your doctor or technician know. We look forward to continuing to serve you and your pets for years to come.
Experiencia negativa: I took my dog in with fears she was developing a pyometra, they did an x-ray told us everything looked fine and sent us on our way. She progressively got worse and we took her in again, this time they did a ct scan and turns out she did have the infection and it had gotten bad. They quoted me 5000$ dollars for the surgery after I had already spent 1000$ for them to do nothing for her. We took her somewhere else and got it done for 2000$ save urself money and time and never come here.
Experiencia fantástica: We had to put our sweet boy down today and everyone was so kind when we came in as a walk-in. We originally went to the one on Creek Road and the lady at the front desk was so rude so we ended up going to this one, and they were kind And thoughtful and patient. thank you for making this hard day a little bit easier
Phillip, our hearts break for your family due to the loss of your cherished boy. It means a great deal to us to know that our team was able to offer the support your family required during this difficult time. Please remember we are holding you in our thoughts and are here for you whenever you need us.
Experiencia negativa: My dog had previously had been there and had surgery for something he had eaten. It happened again. They drag you through the same bullshit and try to make as much money as possible. Hard to say they care about animals. I understand cost. The previous fluids over night stay, ultra sound, surgery $3,600. This time was closer to $10,000. He has passed. These people pull on heart strings for cash. SAD. I can't respiratory to the reply they sent. These people don't care about your pets. Think about how a surgery for a dog cost 11,000 lol. They can respond anyway they want bit do not care for your pets. Avoid thisnplace at all costs!
Hi Chris, we are truly sorry for your loss and understand how devastating it must be to say goodbye to a beloved pet. We also regret that you feel your experience with us did not reflect the compassionate care we strive to provide. Medical decisions and costs can be overwhelming, especially during emergencies, and we understand your frustration. Please know our team’s intention is always to provide the best possible care and options for each patient. Whenever you feel ready, we would like to discuss your experience further. We invite you to reach out to our Hospital Manager directly at [email protected]. Sending you our deepest condolences.
Experiencia fantástica: We had a terrifying moment when our dog grabbed one of my heart pills that had fallen on the floor and swallowed it before we could react. Thankfully, the VCA Animal Hospital was open, and their team immediately sprang into action. From the moment we walked in, they were calm, compassionate, and incredibly efficient. Exactly what we needed in that moment of panic. Even though we later found out she hadn’t actually ingested the pill (or wasn't impacted by the pill), the fear was very real, and the VCA staff treated our situation with the utmost care and urgency. Their kindness and professionalism turned an awful night into one of relief and gratitude. Our dogs mean the world to us, and knowing there’s a place that provides such exceptional care, without outrageous prices, brings us tremendous peace of mind. Thanks to them, our girl is safe, happy, and back home where she belongs. We’re forever grateful for their loving care and quick action.
Hi Rebecca! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. We’re so glad our team was able to be there for you and your pup during such a frightening moment. We understand how stressful emergencies like that can be, and it means a lot to know our care and compassion made a difference. We’re grateful for your trust and so happy to hear your girl is safe and back home where she belongs.
Experiencia positiva: We love this hospital. We've taken both of our dogs to this location amd Both times we were very impressed with the caring staff. It's very clean. Well run, and the staff is friendly. Very empathetic and knowledgeable doctors and technicians. We will continue to use this hospital.
Hi Jennifer, thank you for sharing such wonderful feedback. We’re so glad to know both of your dogs have received thoughtful care from our team. Your kind words mean so much, and we truly appreciate your trust in us.
Experiencia fantástica: Our dog Molly had a ruptured ear drum and Dr. Halilovic took such good care of her! We are grateful he got her all the way better! We have also seen Dr. Halilovic when my cat had a foreign obstruction and could have died. I have been so thankful because each time he made the right calls. His judgement was spot on to do the best next steps for our pets. I have been going to VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital for over a decade and I am so grateful for all the great care we have received over the years for our dogs and cats! I want to add that we lost our cat earlier this year and the staff was so gracious in the midst of our grief, thank you!
Thank you for sharing such a powerful review Lisa, especially the history you have with VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital. We are so incredibly proud of Dr. Halilovic and are thrilled to hear that his spot-on judgment was critical in saving both Molly and your cat's lives during such scary moments. We also send you our deepest sympathies for the recent loss of your cat; knowing our team was gracious during your grief means the world to us. Thank you for your decade of trust!
Experiencia fantástica: I have been bringing my animals here for over 20 years. Dr. Bagley is our primary vet at this clinic and he is hands down the BEST! He is so personable, educated and caring. He truly cares about each of my animals and takes the time we need to make sure we understand recommended treatment and diagnoses. He has taken my frantic messages when he is not even on the clock and has made sure that our emergencies are handled well. I HIGHLY recommend this clinic for all your well and unwell fur family needs!
Hi Shannon! Thank you so much for trusting us with your pets for over 20 years. We’re delighted to hear how much Dr. Bagley’s compassion, dedication, and expertise have meant to you and your animals. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with him and the rest of our team—they’ll be so grateful to know their care and commitment have made such a difference.
Experiencia fantástica: We have been here a few times with both of our dogs, and each experience has been positive. The doctors do well with collaborating a plan with you and are very upfront about cost. Will continue to come here for any pet emergencies!
Hi Sam, thank you for your thoughtful feedback! We’re so glad to know you’ve had positive experiences with both of your dogs and that our doctors’ collaboration and transparency have been helpful. We truly appreciate your trust and look forward to being here whenever you need us.
Experiencia fantástica: Mitch and Dr. Carney did an amazing job looking after my dog when she needed urgent care. Fast, professional and exceptional experience start to finish.
That’s fantastic to hear Andy! We're so glad that Mitch and Dr. Carney were able to provide such fast and exceptional care for your dog. It means a lot to our team to know they could be there for you when you needed them most. We will be sure to pass along your wonderful feedback!
Experiencia negativa: When I first moved here six years ago, Cottonwood was one of the best animal hospitals in the area. Unfortunately, over time the quality of care seems to have declined. My dog had repeat visits over the last 2 years for ongoing gastrointestinal upset. More recently, I was told there were issues with her kidney function and was advised to switch her to prescription food. The new food made her even sicker. I followed up and was told that they had gotten a new lab machine and that the reference ranges had changed, meaning her results were actually normal all along. That was a serious miss and it put my dog through unnecessary stress. I finally decided to seek a second opinion at a different vet, where they took my concerns seriously and she was finally diagnosed with pancreatitis verbally and confirmed with imaging and a SNAP test. This explains the intermittent symptoms she has been suffering with for years, symptoms that were never properly addressed at Cottonwood. To add to my frustration, the new vet’s visit including imaging, bloodwork, and additional testing was significantly less expensive than any of the appointments I had at Cottonwood, despite being far more thorough. I am disappointed because I once held this clinic in such high regard and their failures left my dog in unnecessary pain, put my dog at risk, created more stress for her and I, all while pocketing $800-$1k each visit. My hope is that they take this feedback seriously, so other pet owners don’t go through what I did.
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you to Dr. Larsen and Dr. Thomas! They took such good care of my Ash. Everyone loved him and made him comfortable. We all worked as a team to get my dog better. I hold a special place in my heart for Dr. Thomas. It was not the outcome that we wanted but I am thankful everyday we tried. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing about Ash and your experience with Dr. Larsen, Dr. Thomas, and our team. It means so much to know that you felt supported and that Ash was cared for with love and comfort. We know how hard it is when the outcome isn’t what we hope for, but we’re grateful you allowed us to be there with you and Ash through it. He will always hold a special place in our hearts too.
Experiencia fantástica: We were recommended to VCA Cottonwood by our vet for a perineal bilateral hernia repair for our dog along with a couple other locations. We called at least 10 animal hospitals begging for quotes so we could at least have an idea of what we would be paying and one of the few places that would give us a quote was VCA. Their quote was one of the best ones so we ended up booking a $6500 surgery with them to get it fixed. We brought our dog in for an initial consultation so they could be sure that the quote was accurate and there were not any other issues. The reception was so sweet about our dog pooping a ton in the front office area (he was on laxatives so we couldn’t stop him). We were quickly brought in a room and seen by the hernia vet. Everything looked good so the vet gave us a very detailed explanation of the entire process, the pricing, and the timelines. He made sure we fully understood and was very responsive to all questions. We got scheduled to bring our dog back in the following day for his surgery. We came in and dropped him off, and had to pay half upfront of the quoted amount. He was done that day but had to stay under their care for 24 hours to ensure everything went okay, they offer a time though to come visit after surgery if you would like. Dr Cox performed the surgery and was so sweet when we came in and had some questions. He overly explained in a good way and was happy to help us. We picked him up and were given two cones along with medication. The incisions on his bottom looked WILD but clean and well done. Dr Cox informed us that the amount quoted had actually significantly dropped to $4600. I don’t know about anyone else but I’ve never been given a quote by a vet and it be less than that in the end. We were ecstatic. We have been home now for just about two weeks and have called with probably a dozen questions after the fact and have gotten nothing but happy vet techs or Dr cox answering our questions with great explaining and help with whatever we need. Including getting a refill on sedatives the same day. For a major terrifying surgery on our boy, this vet has been absolutely incredible in every aspect and we are so grateful that we ended up booking with them!
Experiencia fantástica: I have brought my senior chihuahua Dragon here many times for check-ups and surgeries. He usually sees Dr. Larson, and he is absolutely wonderful with Dragon. Recently, he got some small masses removed, along with some dental work done, and the doctor called me promptly after surgery was completed to let me know the status of my beloved furry friend, as well as how the procedure went and exactly what he did. He is very thorough and considerate. I always have a swift and pleasant experience with the front staff. The facility is clean, bright and has a calming atmosphere. Everyone is in high spirits and work efficiently to get you in and out. The costs are not unreasonable, and they do a good job to inform you prior to a charge if the fees are more or less than they originally quoted. Overall, I sincerely adore and appreciate all of the staff at the VCA Cottonwood Hospital/Clinic. They do a good job to let our fur babies know they are loved and cared for! Thank you!
Hi Jennifer! Thank you for sharing Dragon’s story with us. We’re so glad to hear that Dr. Larson and our team have been able to provide him with the care, comfort, and attention he deserves. It’s wonderful to know that you feel supported throughout the process—from the front desk to surgery updates—and that Dragon feels safe here with us. We truly value your trust and kind words, and we’ll be sure to share them with the entire Cottonwood team. Give sweet Dragon some extra love from us!
Experiencia negativa: I've been to this emergency clinic several times and always had a good experience. Staff has always been kind and helpful. I went today for a recheck after my cat was showing worrying symptoms after receiving stitches two nights ago. The veterinarian and vet tech were helpful and kind as always, but the receptionist was extremely rude and condescending. Getting information about the medication they were sending me home with was like pulling teeth. She was very dismissive and didn't seem to want to help me at all. I understand that they typically see much more worrying cases than ours was during the night shift, but she talked to me like I was stupid the whole time, I left feeling so belittled. I truly don't think I've ever had such a terrible customer service interaction, and to be treated that way when I'm just trying to get help for my pet was so upsetting.
Thank you for your feedback, Maddie. We're very sorry to hear about your upsetting experience with the receptionist. We are glad to hear that the vet and vet tech were able to provide kind and helpful service, but we are truly sorry your experience with our receptionist did not meet your expectations. We would like to discuss this with you further. Please reach out to our hospital manager at [email protected] so we can get more information.
Experiencia fantástica: Super great visit for an injured doggo. Dr Jones was wonderful and the staff were very friendly and straightforward. Virtual waiting room was very convenient.
Thank you for sharing, Conor! We’re so glad to hear your visit went smoothly and that Dr. Jones and our team were able to take great care of your pup. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with them.
Experiencia fantástica: Yesterday I had to bring my 3 dogs in because 1 of them ate a bunch of coffee and I didn’t know who. They got them all back immediately. This week has been the hardest week, not only did my dogs eat coffee but they also got sprayed by a skunk and a couple days after that my car was in an accident. Everyone was so empathetic and helpful. They made sure my dogs weren’t too hot in the car, they also made sure they had water. They took the time to walk outside multiple times for us instead of expecting us to come in. They took care of my babies and I will forever be grateful. Courtney, I hope you see this, thank you so much for what you did yesterday for my dogs. You have no idea how much that helped me and my family. I will forever be grateful for you and what you did. Again, thank you. Vca, thank you so much for taking care of the “coffee dogs” yesterday. You helped us immensely. I hope the universe sends you the beautiful karma you all deserve. ❤️
Thank you so much, Jordan, for sharing your story and for your incredibly kind words. It sounds like you had an incredibly stressful week, and we're so grateful to hear that our team was able to provide some comfort and care for your "coffee dogs."
We are so proud to have people like Courtney on our team. Your message truly means the world to her and to all of us. It's an honor to be able to help you and your family during such a difficult time. We are sending all our best wishes to you and your pups! ❤️
Experiencia negativa: Some of the doctors here seriously needs to learn how to work with people. I left that hospital so angry so many times due to his rude behavior. He grew up on a farm and acts like it because he treated my sick animal like deadweight. If it wasn’t for Dr. Bowen I would have resentment towards the clinic, but he showed me genuine kindness from a doctor for the first time since I’d arrived.
Hi Alexia! We're so sorry to hear about the frustrating experience you've had with one of our doctors. We understand how important it is to feel confident and comfortable with the care your animal is receiving, and we take this feedback very seriously.
We would like to discuss your experience further. Please contact our Hospital Manager, [email protected], so we can learn more and address your concerns directly.
Experiencia fantástica: this is meredith dangerfield, i want to write a review on Dr Enel-I've never seen him at cottonwood my dog maya (cottonwoods mascott-LOL) We see Dr Porter, anyways Dr Enel is a good Dr and a good guy and he's really nice and always works hard to see your pet! Also Dr Porter is the best ! Maya loves coming in to see him. Maya loves getting treats from Dr Porter! she's had hip surgery (FHO) He's done a great job with her! Maya also had knee surgery- and Dr Bagley also did a good job with her knee, I appreciate Dr Porter and Bagley in helping maya feel better. MAYA loves everyone especially when she comes to get treats from everybody. Maya also loves the girls at the front desk, she's always making sure they're doing their job! lol! WE LOVE COTTONWOOD ANIMAL HOSPITAL! WE HAVE NOTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT IT! :) Lindsey is the best to she also works very hard doing her job, she loves to see maya coming in everyday lol!
We absolutely love hearing from you and Maya! It's clear that Maya has a very important job as our official Cottonwood Animal Hospital mascot, and we are so glad she's always on top of things.
Maya is a rockstar, and we're thrilled that Dr. Porter and Dr. Bagley were able to get her feeling so much better after her surgeries. We'll be sure to pass along your kind words to Dr. Enel and Lindsey—and, of course, the entire front desk crew who are always waiting with treats!
We all love seeing Maya and her happy spirit, and we're so grateful for your trust in our team. Thank you for making our day!
Experiencia fantástica: Cottonwood animal hospital is the best! I’ve been taking my senior dog Eli there for years for surgeries, pain management and many other things. Dr. Bagley, Dr. Schwarz, Dr. Halilovic and the remainder of the techs provide compassionate care. They go above and beyond to keeping my dog happy and healthy, practicing good medicine, knowledge and experience . Owning a dog with some aggression issues, cottonwood makes every visit very calming for us. I highly recommend VCA cottonwood animal hospital.
Thank you so much for your heartfelt review Lindsay! It means the world to our team to hear about your experience with Eli. We are incredibly honored to have been a part of his care for so many years.
We'll be sure to pass along your kind words to Dr. Bagley, Dr. Schwarz, Dr. Halilovic, and all of our dedicated techs. It is our goal to provide compassionate care for every animal, and we are so glad we've been able to create a calm and supportive environment for Eli and for you. We truly appreciate you recommending VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital and look forward to continuing to be a part of Eli's health journey.
Experiencia negativa: If you love your pets, do not take them here. We had the worst experience with Dr. Enel Halilovic at VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital and Urgent Care. We’ve been here before and had average care, but our most recent visit with our 15-year-old Yorkie was beyond unacceptable. He was tilting and shaking his head in pain, unable to sleep at night, and after taking him back to be checked, we were told there was nothing they could do to help. We left discouraged, with our dog still suffering. A couple of days later, when his pain worsened, we went to another vet for a second opinion. That doctor immediately found a severe ear infection. Even more disturbing, they pulled up the lab report from VCA, which clearly showed bacteria and infection were present at the time of our original visit. Yet Dr. Halilovic recorded his pain level as “0/4” when our dog was very obviously in pain, and provided no treatment beyond an ear rinse... We paid nearly $300 for nothing, and when I reached out to the clinic to raise our concerns, no one bothered to call me back. This experience makes me deeply concerned that Dr. Halilovic is allowed to practice medicine on beloved pets. Please take this as a warning and go elsewhere for care. Your pets deserve to be treated with compassion and competence.
Hi Erin, thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with us. We always aim to provide positive and supportive visits, and we’re sorry to hear that this wasn’t the case this time. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope you’ll give us the chance to make your next visit a better one.
Experiencia negativa: Don’t even bother. The AVC in Millcreek is a much better option. I brought my dog in when he had obviously consumed something toxic. He was confused, could barely walk straight and was acting erratic. When I brought him in, the woman at the front was convinced he had kennel cough since he choked ONCE from pulling on his leash (he hadn’t even been around any other dogs) and we were told he couldn’t be treated until he was quarantined and tested for kennel cough. We made it clear he was not coughing prior and had just pulled on his leash but she wouldn’t take us seriously. I’m pretty sure they wanted to get more money out of us. We ended up going to the milcreek AVC and our concerns were taken seriously & he was immediately taken back to be checked on. I’m writing this about a month later and am still upset about how we were treated.
Hi Ri, we’re truly sorry to hear about your experience and the concerns you’ve shared regarding your visit. We understand how distressing it can be when a pet is in urgent need of care, and it’s never our intention for a client to feel their concerns aren’t taken seriously. Our goal is always to provide the best care possible for both our patients and their families, and we’d love the opportunity to address your concerns. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our hospital manager at [email protected], so we can listen and make things right. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
Experiencia negativa: Edit: The heartless "vet" who recommended euthanasia, my boy is still alive and well almost 7 years later. Because my vet treated him without a care about the money. Rethink your values. I hope I am wrong, but I believe this clinic uses scare tactics to make you spend more money. I went late at night with a blocked cat, and after temporarily draining his bladder (to buy more time until regular vet was open) I was told he would rapidly decline and possibly pass away over night. Dr. Neal even recommended euthanasia. I was distraught, and broken to tears as they sent me away to watch my cat die over money. I can't imagine anything more heartless. I laid awake all night with him, making sure he would make it. They didn't even warn me the pain medicines side effects closely resembled what the said he may do if he was about to pass. Thank God for Google. First thing in the morning my regular vet squeezed us in and immediately went to work treating my kitty. For what I was quoted almost $3000 for at Cottonwood, my regular veterinarian ended up charging $590. He's currently doing well in their hospital recuperating. I was told that majority of blocked cats survive, and my cat was very alert and healthy and has a high chance of survival. I should be able to pick him up tomorrow. Please, always get a second opinion. I appreciate them helping buy time for my cat to make it through the night, even with a $200 price tag, (he's worth the world, I'd pay every last dime I had to save him). But if an Emergency veterinarian recommends euthanasia, please get a second opinion. By the way, at the time of this post, it is a minimum charge of $85 just to come in and be seen after hours. Hopefully that is helpful for anyone in an emergency situation as they are reading this. Just an update, my cat has been home for a week now and is doing exceptionally well. I hope that Dr. Neal sees this and feels extreme guilt for trying to tell me to euthanize my cat. How heartless can you be?!!!
Experiencia negativa: Let me start off by saying that our experience with the staff was nice and they were able to see us right away on a Saturday evening. However, our experience with ER vet (Dr. Carney) was extremely traumatizing. - She refused to give our cat antibiotics and fluids (a treatment that I told her had worked in the past for my cat's situation) till we did (and paid for) the diagnostic tests. - She made claims of a cancer diagnosis saying she was "95% sure" based on x-rays alone, knowing well enough that a definitive diagnosis would involve ultrasound and biopsy. - THIS WAS THE WORST PART - she presented a bloody vial from urinalysis - while my cat had clear urine at home and further urinalysis from her primary vet 2 days after the ER visit also showed urine in normal range. She further continued to push a poor prognosis for our cat with the bloody vial in front of us the whole time and told us to euthanize our cat! - Did a "FAST" ultrasound without our approval or presenting it in the initial estimate, despite admitting that they'll need ultrasound experts to come in and do the procedure. - I'll give her credit for telling us to up the steroid dose for my cat, but she made no mention of it till I brought it up! Our cat's condition has improved a lot since this terrible experience and is well managed with antibiotics and steroids. We were fortunate to have a regular vet visit scheduled close to this ER visit, so we could get a second opinion. We still don't have a definitive diagnosis despite 2 ultrasounds and FNA cytology with our primary vet. So Dr. Carney tried to make us put our cat down over a "hunch" based on x-rays? My thought is, why put pet parents through this kind of trauma when you are in no position to give a definitive diagnosis? To continue pushing a poor prognosis and make you feel like there's no hope for your animal is extremely callous in an already stressful (and very expensive) situation.
Hi Anna, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're truly sorry to hear that your visit left you feeling distressed, especially during such a vulnerable time for your pet. While we're glad our team was able to see you promptly and that your initial interactions were positive, we understand that the medical portion of your visit did not meet your expectations. We take feedback like yours seriously and are committed to learning more about what happened so we can continue to improve the care we provide. Every pet and every situation is unique, and we strive to approach each case with compassion and clarity. If you're open to it, we warmly invite you to reach out directly to our hospital manager at [email protected]. They would be happy to speak with you further and ensure your concerns are heard and addressed with the attention they deserve. Thank you again for taking the time to share your story. We’re wishing your cat continued comfort and healing.
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you to the staff for getting us in on the day we called. We appreciated getting answers for Fitz. Dr. Schwartz answered all our questions. Fitz even warmed up to her a bit. Appreciate all your efforts towards our shy little guy.
Thank you for the kind words, Shauna! We were happy to help Fitz and get you the answers you needed. We're especially delighted to hear that he warmed up to Dr. Schwartz—that's the highest compliment for our team. We appreciate your trust in us and look forward to seeing you both again.
Experiencia fantástica: We had to take our sweet baby Ember to the emergency vet yesterday because she hadn’t eaten in almost a week and she was starting to collapse.. When i say that the whole staff was absolutely amazing to not just us but Ember I mean it! Ember got diagnosed with Addisons disease by Dr. Schreyer and he was by far the best vet I have ever had. At first we were terrified of the diagnosis. But the more he talked to us and calmly explained the situation the more we understood that this wasn’t so scary. Ember had to stay overnight and he even came and got her himself to take back. The whole staff that delt with her was so kind and made us worry so much less about leaving her there. We can’t thank them enough for saving our baby.
Hi Aubrey! Thank you so much for sharing Ember’s story with us. We know how scary that must have been, and we’re truly grateful Dr. Schreyer and the team could bring some calm and clarity during such a difficult moment. We’re sending lots of love and strength to sweet Ember as she continues to recover—you’ve got a whole team cheering her on!
Experiencia fantástica: Had to last minute bring my cat here for some bloating today. the virtual wait room was super helpful. i only had to wait approximately an hour. they took my cat and i back immediately and did an exam and took an ultrasound. they were extremely helpful and had good attitudes. got the prescription probiotics same day!
Thank you for sharing your experience, Lexi! We're so glad the virtual wait room was helpful and that your cat received prompt, compassionate care. Wishing your furry friend a smooth recovery!
Experiencia fantástica: We cannot say enough good about the people at VCA when it comes to helping our little angel Scooter. Everyone has always been very helpful and kind in taking care of him. Dr. Cox and Lindsay are both exceptional when it comes to the personal touch, care and concern for Scooters health, quality of life and longevity. He is now 15 years old and going and that wouldn’t have happened without their help and expertise and we are SO so grateful to know both of them and so grateful for everyone else making our chance to be with Scooter as wonderful and long lasting as possible. Thanks to all of you, and God bless you for your love and kindness toward our beloved animals!
Hello Daniel, thank you for sharing such a touching tribute to Scooter. It means so much to hear that our team, especially Dr. Cox and Lindsay, has been a part of his long and wonderful life. We are so grateful to have you as part of our VCA family, and we feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to care for your little angel.
Experiencia fantástica: I was so impressed with our consult with Dr. Bagley for my Dog’s injured leg. He is so knowledgeable in addition to having such a warm and friendly demeanor. My Dog, Loki, was so nervous and Dr. Bagley did a great job putting him at ease. His Assistant Lindsey was also so personable and did a great job on giving us frequent updates on Loki’s care during his x-rays. Great experience all around!
Hi Melody, thank you so much for sharing this, and we're thrilled to hear Loki had such a positive experience! Dr. Bagley and Lindsey will be so glad to know their care and kindness made a difference. We're lucky to have them on our team, and even luckier to care for pets like Loki.
Experiencia fantástica: They took such great care of our sweet pup. They were very personable and kept checking in with us to give us updates. Dr Bagley was so nice, personable and was so sweet and gentle with our dog. The assistant Lindsey was so sweet and hilarious. She kept giving us updates of what was going on throughout the process. I would definitely recommend bringing your animals here
Hi Jessica, this review truly warms our hearts. Thank you so much! We are beaming with pride for Dr. Bagley and Lindsey, and we will be sure to share your kind words with them. Keeping you updated while giving your sweet pup gentle, loving care is exactly what we strive for!
Experiencia fantástica: The entire staff there is amazing. They treated my Lily with such care and compassion. They were honest and helped us make a lot of tuff decisions. And when it was time to put our sweet Lily to sleep, they were so kind and gentle with her and helped us through it. We are so grateful for the amazing care she got there. Thank you so much to all of the staff here.
Hi Trish, we are so deeply sorry for your loss. Our hearts go out to you during this difficult time. It means so much to know that our team’s compassion was able to bring even a little comfort as you navigate this heartbreaking moment. Please know we’re thinking of you and are here to support you in any way we can.
Experiencia fantástica: I have consistently had outstanding experiences with VCA Cottonwood, both for my Doberman’s emergency visits and routine wellness checks. The veterinary technician, Erza, is always exceptionally kind and helpful, and Dr. Bowen’s knowledge, attention to detail, and compassion truly stand out. In over 10 years of owning Dobermans and working with various veterinarians, no one has ever mentioned vWD until Dr. Bowen brought it up during my last visit—an example of his thorough and proactive approach to care. I have complete confidence in VCA Cottonwood’s ability to provide the highest level of care for my dog. Every staff member is professional, compassionate, and willing to take the time to answer all of my questions with patience and clarity. The fact that my dog genuinely enjoys seeing the staff speaks volumes about the positive and caring environment they provide. I highly recommend VCA Cottonwood to any pet owner looking for exceptional veterinary care.
Hi Tess! Thank you so much for this thoughtful and detailed feedback. We're truly honored by your trust in VCA Cottonwood. Dr. Bowen, Erza, and the entire team are committed to providing thorough, compassionate care, and it means the world to know that dedication has made such a meaningful difference for you and your Doberman. We’re grateful to be part of your dog’s health journey and appreciate your recommendation deeply.
Experiencia negativa: After calling ahead and joining the “virtual waitlist” upon arrival me and my partner were told to wait in 90+ degree weather. Denied water as well while waiting. After waiting a good amount of time was finally next in line so one of us came in to be helped at front desk. Again, had to leave my dog outside. Once I was next to be helped the worker behind the desk came out walked around me, completely disregarded me, didn’t even look in my direction, and began helping the person behind me without even addressing me or saying a word. After waiting over an hour and a half no updates and no communication from the front desk we decided to call it with the possibility of heat stroke especially being denied water and denied entry to wait inside. As an Emergency Animal hospital we understand some situations require immediate attention over others. In what’s already a heightened and stressful situation regarding my dog. The lack of care, lack of communication, the disrespect and discrimination was surreal and the last thing I expected bringing my pup here after being referred here . WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
Experiencia negativa: 07/17/25. It's 2:00 a.m. and like so many nights I'm lying here replaying the last moments of my kids lives in your hands. I sincerely hope you are not subjecting more furbabies and their pawrents to the horror you put us through. I live with my decision to bring them to you for help every day. And I so regret it... You need to remember the long-term effects of your actions. 01/01/25 Your New Year's Resolution should be: Do LESS harm. Create LESS anxiety, fear, torment and anguish for the pets and their pawrents who come to you for help. 12/17/24. Update: A condolence card, seriously? Don't send out a bullshit, "we're so sorry for your loss" card when it's clear and obvious you care more about making a buck then you actually care about a patient. What an absolute pathetic act on your part. Truly disgusting! Three separate incidents. Three different vets. Could there be any more incompetent, uncaring teams under one roof? Three opportunities at redemption. Failed me and my family every time. No more. I'll come back later with details but at the moment, I'm still extremely upset about my two recent experiences here with my dogs. Please consider looking elsewhere when the time comes to help your pets cross over the Rainbow Bridge...VCA - please don't respond with one of your canned BS responses at this point. This place used to be a caring, loving and respected facility until you took ownership. There is definitely something lacking in the facilities that you take over and manage. As a follow-up, I still feel the need to voice my opinion to your deaf ears in loving memory of Stuart, Emma and Maggie. Taking all three of my beloved dogs to the vet for a peaceful transition over the Rainbow Bridge is one of the most heart-wrenching decisions I've had to make over the last five years. As a lifetime rescuer, these decisions are an act of love and compassion, meant to end suffering and provide a dignified farewell to my adopted family members. However, after deep reflection and unbiased observation, I can clearly see and say that each cherished companion was subjected to unnecessary trauma and abuse by the very people entrusted with their care, What a devastating betrayal. The trust placed in the veterinary staff is sacred, and to have it shattered and ultimately destroyed, not by a single person, but by several, in such a cruel manner is both infuriating and heartbreaking. Why don't your medical records detail all the incompetencies in the execution of their duties and the mishandling of precious lives by your staff? The emotional scars left by each of these experiences has been profound, as the final moments meant to be filled with peace and love were instead marred by fear, anxiety, clumbiness and pain to my loved ones by your staff. This violation of trust not only dishonors the memory of each of my loyal and trusting companions and friends but also leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of those who loved them. It is a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and advocacy for our pets, ensuring they receive the compassionate care they deserve in their final moments. I've relived each of their final moments over and over in my mind and will never forget or forgive your heartless, uncaring, staff. It's unfortunate your organization has the finances to keep buying up these clinics and turning them into mechanical, "profit before pets" facilities. Maybe invest some of those profits into 'sensitivity trainings' for those who work there!
Cheryl, we're disheartened by what you’ve expressed and it’s clear that your recent experiences have deeply affected you. To better understand your concerns and support you during this difficult time, we ask that you please reach out to our hospital manager at [email protected].
Experiencia fantástica: We want to thank the amazing staff at VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital. Dr. Wagner, Dr. Belnap, Benny, Willow & Linda for all of their care, kindness & support as we lost our 2 sweet dogs after 15 years of love with our beautiful pups. They were all so helpful and nice as our dogs were being treated at the hospital. Our girl dog was treated and we brought her home and she passed away. Then a month later her brother developed pneumonia and pulmonary hypertension. They helped us make the decision to let our sweet, little guy go after much care and talking with us about our options. They were all so kind & informative, and truly felt like they cared so much about us and our sweet, dogs. We will never forget all the love and kindness that they showed us during this hard time. We had many visits through the years with our sweet dogs with any medical issues that they had and they were always so great with helping them. We are so thankful from the bottom of our hearts, even though they are still broken from losing our sweet babies
Hello Angie, we are so sorry for the loss of your two sweet dogs. We are truly touched by your incredibly kind words about the care and support provided by our team at VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital. Knowing we could be there for you during such a difficult time means the world to us. Thank you for entrusting us with their care throughout the years.
Experiencia negativa: This place is a disgusting place for a vet. We took my dog in cause it was the only emergency 24/7 vet open. When I got there they were already telling me what pricing was BEFORE my dog even was inside. They could not tell me anything as to what was wrong with my dog. They wasted 1000 dollars and could not give me any answers. I asked if should I put my dog down and they were so back and forth if I should or not. They kept just pushing medicine and extra charges but gave me no confidence in their work. They seem greedy for money more then the health and care of animals. This seemed like more a car dealership pushing for commission but didn't care for the outcome. Please go to anywhere else besides this place and save your animals and money
Thank you for sharing what happened, it's clear this was a deeply frustrating and emotional experience, and your concerns are completely valid. If you’d like to formally address the situation or request your pet’s medical records, you can contact the hospital manager directly at [email protected],. Including your pet’s name and the date of your visit will help them review your case thoroughly.
Experiencia negativa: WOW this service was awful. Spent over 2.5 hours here, 98% of which was spent sitting alone in a room and only about 10 minutes spent actually interacting with a vet or technician. Vet was dismissive and condescending, and administered several tests without asking us (to the tune of $300 extra) AND administered medication to our pet without asking. Medication that our primary vet specifically told us NOT to use. This also cost extra money. Genuinely could not be more annoyed, and I will never be coming back here. If you value your pets health, and your time, there are alternative emergency clinics.
Hi Nate! We are truly sorry to hear that your recent visit was so disappointing and frustrating. We understand your concerns regarding the long wait time, feeling unheard by the veterinary team, and the unexpected costs associated with tests and medication. Your experience is not what we strive for, and we sincerely regret that we fell short of your expectations. Please reach out to our Hospital Manager directly at [email protected], so we may address your concerns.
Experiencia fantástica: I highly recommend VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital. We used their virtual waiting room and were notified pretty quickly that we could bring our dog. The receptionists were very friendly and kind. The vet tech was thorough, and Dr.Tracy was wonderful. She listened well, gave our dog a good exam, addressed the issue, and explained everything to us.
Thank you for sharing your experience Rebecca! It’s great to hear how smoothly everything went from the virtual check-in to the compassionate care by Dr. Tracy and the team. Feeling heard and supported makes all the difference when your pet needs attention.
Experiencia fantástica: My cat Nigel almost died today. He’s diabetic and has been receiving insulin injections twice a day for two years. For some reason, he went into hypoglycemia today — even though he had a meal before his shot. I called my vet at the VCA in Sandy, and they referred me here. Honestly, I wasn’t too excited about going to urgent care or the ER because of terrible, money-squeezing experiences I’ve had at other emergency clinics. But this place was different. The staff were quick, kind, and professional. The doctor was incredibly compassionate and not condescending (which I’ve sadly experienced elsewhere). He walked me through several options for Nigel’s care and truly respected me in the process. They didn’t take advantage of my fear or vulnerability. I’m just so grateful to the doctor and the whole team — thank you. Nigel is doing much better now and will be following up with his regular vet at VCA in Sandy to figure out next steps in his recovery. I don’t know if other ER vets are just burned out, but this team shows up 100% — for you and your pet. I highly recommend them, and they will definitely be my go-to emergency clinic from now on. Thank you again.
Thank you for sharing Nigel’s story Tati, what a terrifying experience to go through, but we’re so glad he pulled through and is on the mend. It’s heartening to hear that the team treated you with kindness, respect, and transparency when you needed it most. Sending healing thoughts to Nigel as he continues his recovery.
Experiencia negativa: Porter and lady veterinary, can't remember doesn't know the difference between arthritis and cancer. Both pushed me to put my baby down! And after torchery my baby and me. They had to admit no cancer! 1200. Amputation proved it! That is not much a doctor, I see alot of that sloppy even in the MD world!
Hi Jennean! We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience, and we understand how upsetting this must have been. We are very relieved to hear it wasn’t cancer, if you’d like to discuss your concerns further, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our hospital manager at [email protected]. We’re here to listen.
Experiencia fantástica: I've been with VCA since 2021, every clinic in AZ and UT has been great! This clinic though has been the best, Dr Halilovic has given Geisha great care. I highly recommend and thankful for the vet and staff who have always been attentive when we've been there.
Hi Jeanice! Thank you so much for your kind words and continued trust since 2021! We're thrilled to hear that your experience across VCA clinics has been so positive—and especially grateful that Dr. Halilovic and the team have provided such outstanding care for Geisha. Your recommendation means the world to us!
Experiencia fantástica: Our cat Noche was there, treated for a urinary blockage! The staff was awesome! The care was awesome. I had so many questions, and they were all very patient wirh me! Thank you to the front desk ladies, Rayshell, and Jisenia. And to Dr. Carlomango for taking the time to answer questions, and keep me updated on everything! And to the whole work staff!!!
Hi Lindsay, Thank you so much for sharing Noche’s story! We’re thrilled to hear he received the care he needed and that our team was there to support you every step of the way. Rayshell, Jisenia, Dr. Carlomango, and the entire staff will truly appreciate your kind words. We're always here for you and Noche!
Experiencia fantástica: I can’t say enough good things about the people here. I came across a stray cat that had been hit laying in the middle of the road still alive but very obviously hanging on her last thread. When I called Mitch Answered and said to come on over and bring her in. This was at 1:30 in the morning! Sadly she had suffered to Mitch damage from the hit and was not gonna be able to make it. But I felt a lot better knowing that someone had tried and she was made comfortable for her last moments. This is a place I would suggest to anyone with a caring staff and amazing people.
Hello Elliot, thank you so much for sharing this heartfelt experience. We're truly sorry for the loss of the sweet stray, but we're grateful she was surrounded by kindness and compassion in her final moments. Mitch and the team are deeply dedicated to doing what's right for animals—day or night—and your words mean a lot. We're honored to have earned your trust and recommendation.
Experiencia negativa: RE: Disappointed and Frustrated with VCA Animal Hospital I brought my pup to VCA for a swollen paw and left feeling incredibly disappointed by the lack of care and compassion we received. At the initial visit, X-rays and antibiotics cost $565. By the next morning, her paw was clearly infected and needed urgent attention. Instead of being seen promptly, I was told to wait until the same vet became available hours later. I had to return and beg for her to be seen. Only then did they sedate her, lance the infection, wrap the paw—and charge another $500. Five days later, I returned for the wrap to be removed, her paw checked, and re-wrapped. The bandaging was done so poorly that she chewed through it within hours. When I went back for help, they tried to charge me again for more materials. On top of that, the vet tech applied tape directly to her leg—without any gauze underneath—so when it was removed, it ripped out her fur. Completely unnecessary and painful for my dog. Several staff members were dismissive throughout the process. The entire experience felt cold and transactional. For the amount of money spent, I expected competent, attentive care and at least some empathy.
Hi Lori, we’re truly sorry for the experience you and your pup went through. It’s heartbreaking to hear that, during a time when your pup needed urgent and gentle care, you were left feeling dismissed and unsupported.
Delays in treatment, added financial strain, and the discomfort your dog endured during bandage removal are all deeply concerning. We take this seriously, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly and work toward making things right. Please reach out to our hospital manager at [email protected]. We’re here to listen and help however we can.
Experiencia negativa: I would never suggest anyone go here. They had me wait for over an hour. The assistant applied the medicine wrong on top of the open wound from a shot she just gave. Plus she had another animal's blood all over her fingertips. The rooms were dirty and run down. The services are way over priced. I was tricked with the free first visit. Then they did pricey swabs without consent. I figured the visit would cost around $100 to $200. They tried charging me over $600. For an ear wash, swab, antibiotic, and wipes.
Hi Jennifer! We’re so sorry to hear about your experience. We strive to provide transparent, compassionate care, but we understand that it can sometimes be difficult to anticipate the total cost before an exam. We understand how upsetting unexpected costs can be, especially when you're focused on your pet's health and comfort. We’d really appreciate the opportunity to talk more and make this right. Please feel free to reach out to our hospital manager at [email protected], we’d love to discuss your experience further.
Experiencia fantástica: Brought my elderly cat in for an emergency and Dr Terek Behunin was amazing. My cat had both blood sugar issues as well as kidney issues and he was able to treat both and get some good results. The whole staff made me feel taken care of. They called me with daily updates as I was on international trip and my cat stayed there for several days. The people there genuinely care and were helpful and kind. I highly recommend them
Hi Michael! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We're truly glad Dr. Terek Behunin and the entire team could provide compassionate and effective care for your elderly cat during such a critical time. Keeping you updated while you were away shows our commitment to both pets and their families. Your recommendation means a lot to us!
Experiencia fantástica: I want to thank Dr Carlomagno and Dr Behunin for taking care of my cats:Pako and Morris. Pako is diabetic and Dr Carlomagno helped us so much, I am very grateful! Dr Behunin helped me with Morris, he had IBS and other problems and the treatment worked. It takes time to find good doctors for your pets. I think I did! Thank you!
What a lovely note of appreciation—thank you for taking the time to share this! We’re so glad to hear that Pako and Morris are both doing better, and that Dr. Carlomagno and Dr. Behunin were able to provide the care and support they needed. Finding the right doctors for your pets can definitely take time, and we’re honored you’ve chosen to trust us. Wishing you and your feline duo continued health and happiness!
Experiencia fantástica: I have nothing but positive things to say about VCA Cottonwood. My dog had stopped eating and her gums had turned pale. We had rushed her over to the emergency vet and the vet team did a very thorough work up on her. She was hospitalized for multiple days, and was so much sicker than we thought. What had caused her to become so sick was a mystery, but Dr Bowen was absolutely incredible. He took such good care of my sweet dog, and was very kind and knowledgeable. My dog’s life was saved by Dr Bowen and the other vet staff. He was able to figure out that she developed an autoimmune condition. I will always be so so so thankful for this clinic, they treated my whole family and my pet so kindly.
Hi, Tash, I’m so relieved your sweet dog is okay after such a scary ordeal! My heart goes out to you for those worrying moments. Dr. Bowen and the VCA Cottonwood team sound truly amazing—saving your pup’s life with such care and kindness means the world. Thanks for sharing this heartwarming story!
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Jones is the absolute best veterinary doctor we have ever had; hands down, no question, nobody has ever even come close. He's caring, gentle, loving, helpful, knowledgeable, and he's just one of those people the goes out of their way to make sure that as much can be done as possible to help our little furry creatures be healthy and happy. He seems to really appreciate his position (a lot of people don't seem to jibe with what the have), and that's rare and awesome! If push came to shove and he just was not able to attend or little family members himself - I truly wouldn't trust the lives of our little creatures with anybody else if they didn't have his stamp of approval. Bar none ... best veterinarian doctor in a 100 mile radius - without question. We'd follow him between clinics until he moves out of state or retires. Truly, there is nobody else we'd trust or little furry family members with. If we could, we'd drop 10 stars! The staff is just as amazing. They've even memorized our pets names. It's like coming home for the holidays :)
Hi Thomas! What an incredible tribute to Dr. Jones and the team—thank you so much for sharing this heartfelt reflection. Your words capture the kind of care every pet parent hopes for, and we’re deeply honored to be part of your furry family’s journey. We'll make sure Dr. Jones and the staff see your kind message—it will mean the world to them. ✨
Experiencia fantástica: The best vet experience we've ever had. We are beyond thankful and impressed with Dr. Halilovic! Great communication on how much everything will cost, phone calls/updates on how he is doing and overall impeccable care for our sweet Schnauzer Stitch after we had to leave him there for 24 hrs because of his epilepsy. I also want to point out how kind the women were at the front desk! Thank you cottonwood animal hospital. We are so grateful to have our boy back home and on the road to recovery.
This is so wonderful to hear — thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. We’re incredibly grateful for your kind words about Dr. Halilovic and our front desk team — we’ll be sure to pass along the appreciation. Stitch is such a brave little guy, and we’re honored to have been part of his care during such a tough time. Sending lots of love and healing wishes as he continues his recovery.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Jones was fantastic with my dog, Ellie! He took the time to explain everything clearly and thoroughly, and I never felt rushed. He patiently answered all of my questions and made sure I felt comfortable with every step of her care. It’s clear he genuinely cares about his patients. I would definitely recommend Dr. Jones to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate vet.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear Dr. Jones provided such thoughtful and thorough care for Ellie. Making sure both pets and their families feel informed and supported is always our top priority. We appreciate your trust and kind words!
Experiencia fantástica: I've been here 3 times now for 3 different pets & each experience has been great. The staff are fantastic! Professional, caring, & helpful. The care we have received has been exactly what was needed & although I have to drive from Utah county, it's been worth it when it's after hours & something happens. I've been pleased with the level of care & although the prices are high, I trust the care we get when we have to come.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Holly! It truly means the world to us to have you and your pets as part of the VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital family. We’re so grateful for your trust and support, and we love being a part of your pet’s health journey. If there’s ever anything we can do for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Give your pets some extra love from us!
Experiencia fantástica: I had a great experience at Cottonwood Animal Hospital! Vet tech Lindsey was amazing—she carefully and kindly helped remove a seatbelt clamp that had gotten stuck on my dog Nala’s foot. She was calm, patient, and clearly very skilled. Meanwhile, the front desk staff took wonderful care of my other pup, Millie, who was there for her influenza shot. Everyone was friendly, professional, and truly cared about my dogs’ well-being. Highly recommend!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Shonte! It truly means the world to us to have you and Nala as part of the VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital family. We’re so grateful for your trust and support, and we love being a part of your pet’s health journey. If there’s ever anything we can do for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Give Nala some extra love from us!
Experiencia fantástica: A week ago on Easter Sunday, I woke up to the terrifying sight of my precious floofy PTSD service kitty fighting for his life. He was drooling, panting, limp, and quiet; I had to literally slide him into his carrier and thankfully VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital was open and immediately took him back to start working on saving his life. Despite my absolute terror and my visible emotionality, the entire team (from reception to techs to vets) was so reassuring every step of the way. He got the best, most individualised care we could have ever hoped for. We returned on Thursday because I thought he might be having a recurrence but thankfully it was a false alarm. While we still don’t know an exact cause for his crisis, he is (knock on wood) almost entirely back to his normal, playful, cuddly, feisty little self. The credit to that miracle goes to Dr Wagner, Dr Behunin, Dr Wright, Dr Larson, and everyone else on staff who treated my floofy baby as though he was their own. Thank you from Bandit and from me ❤️
Annie, thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt review! It means the world to us that you felt supported and informed during your cat’s urgent visit. We’re so happy to hear your little one is back to his playful self! Your trust in our care means everything, and we’re always here for you and your kitty whenever you need us. Give him some extra cuddles from our team!
Experiencia fantástica: I've now been to this hospital a few times with a few of my dogs and my cat for various emergencies some of which I was an absolute mess for. The team here made me feel extremely welcome and friendly regardless of time or day and even if the waits were long. Showing up at 2am anywhere is tough especially when your loved ones are going through it but I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else now. I felt fully informed and felt like the doctors here truly know what they are doing and care deeply. Thanks again for all you do!
Thank you so much for your kind words and trust in our team, Nathan! We know how stressful emergencies can be, and it means the world to hear that you felt welcomed, supported, and cared for during each visit. Your pets are part of our family too, and we're honored to be here for you whenever you need us. Thank you for being part of our community — we look forward to continuing to care for you and your furry family!
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you thank you thank you for taking such good care of my best freind Jax. He is just a puppy and got shot. Orem emergency vet turned us away and my husband went to them and they rushed him in and got him taken care of. I can't being to thank you enough for you guys saving my boy. I owe you all for your amazing teamwork and love you guys have for animals. Highly highly recommend using this vet office!!!
Thank you so much for your heartfelt message, Breanna. We are so grateful you trusted us with Jax’s care during such a critical moment. It means the world to our team to know we made a difference. Jax is such a brave little guy, and we feel honored to have been there for him. Please know that we’re always here whenever you need us. Sending lots of love and cuddles to Jax from all of us.
Experiencia fantástica: When our family dog got into all the Easter chocolate, I immediately took him to the VCA Emergency Room in Cottonwood Heights and could not have been more impressed by their team, service, and speed. The front desk team were friendly and up front about their pricing, which I found to be very reasonable! The doctor was friendly and took his time with me even though I knew he had other patients. We are all so lucky to have a great pet emergency room here in Cottonwood Heights! The family dog is back on his feet and happy as can be thanks to their quick and professional response!
Hi Brendan, we’re so glad your pup is doing well after that chocolate scare — and we really appreciate your kind words! It’s wonderful to hear that our team was able to provide both care and comfort when you needed it most. Thanks for trusting us.
Experiencia fantástica: Super caring staff who are quick to respond. Wish I had pet insurance as was expensive but as long as my baby is okay then I would pay anything. They treated him so nicely and kept my kitty comfortable as he had to stay for a few days
Thank you so much, Hailey, for your wonderful review! We truly appreciate your kind words. Transparency in pricing is very important to us, and we’re so happy to hear that our team was able to assist you. Looking forward to serving you again!
Experiencia fantástica: Let me start by saying I have a VCA closer to my house but choose to come to this location because the techs and doctors are all so great! Linny, one of the techs always takes such great care of my Zoey girl and is so good with her that Zoey isn’t nervous to be there. Dr Bagley did fabulous work fixing Zoey’s torn ACL and worked his magic again removing a mass from her eye. Any time I’ve needed one of her meds refilled they’re always on top of it! Knowing that my dogs feel so comfortable being here that they’re not shaking in fear, really means a lot to my dog-momma heart! Thank you Linny and Dr Bagley for the work you do and treating Zoey girl like family.
Thank you, Jada, for trusting us with Zoey’s care! It truly means so much to us. Our team was so happy to hear about your wonderful experience. Give him some extra cuddles from our team!
Experiencia fantástica: We had to rush our sweet 1 year old Shnauzer in after he had 3 seizures. The emergency department was nothing short of accommodating. Even at 5am our vet, Dr. Ashley Ham was so kind to our sweet boy. She sat on the floor & played with him while she helped us understand his diagnosis with epilepsy & gave us the very reasonable options for treatment & payment. My spouse & I couldn’t have asked for a better experience with a pet emergency. Will now be taking both of my pets to cottonwood animal hospital moving forward!
Hello Lauren, thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt review! It means the world to us that you felt supported and informed during your puppy’s urgent visit. Your trust in our care means everything, and we’re always here for you and Shnauzer whenever you need us. Give him some extra cuddles from our team!
Experiencia fantástica: The doctors and staff at VCA Cottonwood are incredible! We've had two seperate surgeries between two dogs and they were both very successful. Four months ago Dr Bagley performed surgery on our two year old Staffy to correct a luxating patella. The issue seems to be completely resolved and our Staffy is back to full throttle 24/7! A little over 2 years ago our Blue-nose pit needed a splenectomy. His surgery was also a great success! They had to keep him overnight but they let us visit him before bed and they were keeping him in a very large kennel directly behind the staff desk, so they could keep an eye on him. I know they see a lot of pets daily, but they still treat every pet with compassion and care. Thank you VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Eli! It truly means the world to us to have you and your pups as part of the VCA Cottonwood family. We’re so grateful for your trust and support. If there’s ever anything we can do for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Give them some extra love from us!
Experiencia negativa: Absolutely atrocious, unprofessional, and a waste of effort. I scheduled my cats for an appointment, and when I arrived 10 minutes early they told me that I was late and the vet went home. I had scheduled my appointment online, double-checked the time, date and vet over the phone, and received multiple emails and texts with my appointment time. Lo and behold I was supposedly LATE when they consistently misinformed me. For "recompense" they offered me nothing but higher fees for getting what I was already scheduled for and gave me no additional helpful options. Do NOT support this place. They do NOT care about your animals. They will deny you service, rescind offers based on whims, and have no idea how to keep a consistent schedule.
We're truly sorry to hear about your experience and the confusion regarding your scheduled appointment. The details you've shared are concerning, and we are ready to discuss your situation to ensure clarity and satisfaction. Please send an email to our hospital manager at [email protected] so we can further review your concerns.
Experiencia fantástica: Our French Bulldog started showing signs of back issues. Saw Dr Behunin for ER-he was great! Follow-up with Dr Bagley; after additional testing, our Frenchie, Fiona needed a Hemilaminectomy. Scheduled Surgery. Staff at chrck-in were all great: knowledgeable & friendly. Dr Bagley performed the surgery & called with a follow-up; he thought everything went well! Fiona stayed overnight. We had a call the next morning giving us an update; all was great! We knew we were in for a long recovery but communication with any concerns was great! Fast forward 2 weeks and we had to get staples removed. Dr Bagley was impressed with how well Fiona was doing! He is amazing so I wasn't surprised! The Surgical / ER side is top notch! Clean and professional! Very friendly Vet Techs who really seemed to care! Front Desk Staff were all great with any questions & super friendly as well! I would not hesitate to recommend VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital (& Surgery) to anyone I know! We live out in Eagle Mountain and will continue to drive up to be taken care of by the best! All I can say is keep up the great work and thank you all for being so amazing each & every visit!!!
Heather, we're thrilled to learn about your positive experience with our team. We're delighted to hear that Fiona's journey, from her initial visit to her recovery after surgery, was met with excellent care and communication. Thank you for highlighting the dedication and professionalism of our doctors and team. Your trust means everything, and we're honored to be part of Fiona's care.
Experiencia negativa: We took our dog as an emergency. My dog was incredibly dehydrated, lethargic, and confused. We let the vet know about the symptoms. They ran a blood test and realized that he also had kidney and liver problems. We asked, what are our options? We were told that he needed several tests to run to determine what he had; the cost of the tests was $6,000. We asked again, Ok, we do the tests, and then what? Proceed?". The vet told us surgery; we asked how if you don’t even know what he has? How much are we talking about the treatments? The vet told us to think around $15,000-$20,000!!!. The vet never talked about stabilizing him right away, like an IV drip for dehydration, nothing. She didn’t have a clue, not even close. Everything was about money or putting him down. We took our dog home and decided to take him to another vet on Monday morning. My dog was intoxicated; symptoms are easy to research, and this vet didn’t try to address that. Monday was too late; we have to put him down. This place was so much better before VCA bought it; now it is all about the money and not the pet. Young vets that can’t even try to figure out a diagnosis if they don’t run $10,000 on tests. Shame on VCA for becoming a corporation and not a place for finding solutions for pet owners.
Elvira, we're deeply sorry to hear about your experience and the loss of your cherished dog. It's essential for us to ensure every pet and their family receive compassionate care, and we're committed to understanding more about your visit. Please email our hospital manager at [email protected] so we can discuss this further with you.
Experiencia fantástica: This place has been great every time I’ve had to take my dog in. The staff up front is nice and Dr. Belnap is great at explains what’s going on and making you feel good about things. Want to add that Dr. Porter is also great. From helping my dog, Tank, get through having cancer, to keeping his diabetes under control, he was been there on top of things every step of the way. Also the staff is still super friendly and don’t get mad at me when I show up late after pharmacy hours to pick up my dogs prescription, which is every time. :)
Monty, thank you for your wonderful feedback! It's heartening to know that our team and doctors have been able to support you and Tank so effectively through his health journey.
Experiencia negativa: I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this clinic and would not trust them with my pet again. I brought my dog in to induce vomiting, and she left in visible pain with an injured leg and completely traumatized. Concerned, I called to ask what might be causing her distress, but the vet tech I spoke with, Kaylie, struggled to explain what was done or which medications could cause certain symptoms. After some back and forth, she finally stated that there was no reason my dog should be whimpering in pain but that I could bring her back in to be examined. When I explained that this was not normal behavior for my dog and that I wouldn’t be bringing her back, she rudely told me not to interrupt her. When I expressed that I didn’t appreciate her dismissive attitude while I was just trying to understand what had happened to my dog under their care, she hung up on me (after reading other reviews hanging up on clients seems to be a common occurrence). I had to call back and speak with a different vet tech, who was much more professional and helpful. Unfortunately, my concerns extend beyond just that one employee. The veterinarian was also underwhelming, providing minimal communication. She briefly stated that I could either hospitalize my dog for two days or take her home but did not go over her vitals or exam findings—despite the $185 exam fee. The exam is also not done by the vet but the vet tech which is surprising. The staff aside from one vet tech all seem to be incredibly unprofessional and care more about deflecting their own accountability than making things right for patients. Also, while we sat in the waiting room (because we weren’t given our own room) we along with other patients had to listen to the receptionists talk loudly about their dating life. This experience left me with serious concerns about the quality of care and communication at this clinic. I will be filing a complaint about the vet tech who hung up on me, and if I don’t receive a call back regarding this matter, I will be following up myself. I expect far better treatment when entrusting a vet with my pet’s health and well-being.
Morgan, it's concerning to hear about your experience. We value your feedback and would like the opportunity to understand your situation better. Please reach out to our hospital manager at [email protected] so we can discuss your concerns and experiences further.
Experiencia fantástica: VCA Cottonwood provided exceptional care once again. Though they couldn’t save my kitty (Meow) last year, they were honest about the severity of the tumor and never took advantage of the situation. More recently, when my husky-mix, Sissy, developed facial swelling due to a tooth inflammation, I called and was advised to come in the morning rather than during emergency hours, as there’s no 24-hour dental emergency. When we arrived, we were seen quickly, and they even fit her in for same-day surgery—something another emergency vet couldn’t offer due to the lack of a dental specialist. My dog and I are truly grateful for the honesty, professionalism, and compassionate care of the entire VCA Cottonwood team!
Jana, thank you for sharing your heartfelt story with us. We understand how challenging it must have been with Meow and are deeply touched by your words regarding Sissy's care. It's a privilege to provide dedicated and compassionate care, and we're truly thankful for your trust in our team.
Experiencia negativa: By far the worst experience I have ever had with a vet. My baby boy who was my service dog got bloat 2 months ago I rushed him there when we arrived there wasn't any vets there we had to wait only to be told it would be six thousand dollars to save him. I had just spent four thousand dollars on him for a much bigger surgery just five months prior. $6,000 is beyond outrageous and by far taking advantage of people who love their pets as well as those that need their service dogs. We had no choice but to euthanize him I was told that they would not bring him to me until I paid upfront which is terrible to keep my baby from me when he was in pain and needed me the most. Then I asked the vet to sedate him before he was euthanized and she broke the needle to the sedation medication instead of getting a new needle she just injected him without my permission I wasn't done saying goodbye. I had no idea she had dome that until he had stopped breathing I asked her why he wasn't breathing and she told me his heart will stop next. I'm absolutely devastated and traumatized about how he went. I will never in my life go anywhere near that vet. I've had lots of dogs on my past put down and I've never been treated like this before this place doesn't deserve to be in business they don't care about people or their pets just money. Stay away from this vet if you love your furbabies. Three weeks after writing this review and no one has yet to email me back about what happened. It doesn't matter though you can't bring back my boy.
Laycee, we are deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved service dog and the distressing experience you've described. Our team truly values the bond between pets and their families, and we take these concerns seriously. We want to hear more from you to understand your experience better. Please reach out to our hospital manager at [email protected] to discuss this further.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Schreyer's quick diagnosis of Addison's disease saved our dog's life! Within under a week she went from the brink of death back to her normal silly self. That is worth every penny. Yes, this hospital is expensive. The three-night hospitalization and treatment for my dog cost over $7,000 without pet insurance. But it was still a lot cheaper than human healthcare! Unfortunately, unless we fix the entire U.S. healthcare system, the high price is expected. I don't blame the animal hospital for that. They provided excellent care and treated us and our dog with so much kindness. I am forever grateful!
Kendra, it's wonderful to hear that our team's swift actions made a significant difference for your dog. Providing excellent care and compassion is always our goal, and we're thankful for your understanding and kind words.
Experiencia fantástica: I have taken my dog to this emergency clinic for 3 separate incidences. I have been amazed at the level of care, service, and speed they have provided. While I hope to never have to visit them again, they would be my first stop in a pet emergency.
Wade, we're delighted to hear that you've found our level of care and service impressive. We appreciate your trust and are always here to provide the support you need in any pet emergency.
Experiencia negativa: DO NOT GO HERE. They kicked my wife and my dying dog out because we demanded accountability for a past mistake that led to her preventable condition. We adopted our dog in 2018 and were told she was spayed by the adoption agency (of course). We started noticing symptoms that looked like she was in heat, so we brought her to Cottonwood VCA. They did an ultrasound and the vet told us they couldn’t see a uterus. They did a swab and examined it under the microscope and said it looked like tissue affected by estrogen. Their interpretation was that, when she was spayed they likely left some estrogen-producing tissue that would cause heat-like symptoms. That was the story we were given, so it was the story we believed for 5 years. FAST FORWARD to 2023. Our dog Pansy became ill and we brought her to Cottonwood. They did an ultrasound and said she had pyometra, which is an INFECTED UTERUS. She needed emergency surgery or she was going to die. She was not spayed, she had a uterus the entire time. My wife asked to speak with a manager or head veterinarian. After HOURS of waiting she finally spoke with someone who completely wrote her off and dismissed her concerns. She finally asked bluntly what avenues we had to explore accountability, and they offered none. As a reminder, they had our dying dog who needed emergency surgery in the back. My wife mentioned the licensing board for a complaint and they swiftly ejected her and our dog. No offer to call another emergency vet, no suggestions on where to take her, nothing. This place is crooked, do not take your pets here. They care about nothing but money. I have doubts they even did an ultrasound back in 2018. And if they did, the vet who read it was clearly incompetent or over-interpreted the results. What a joke. Go to Avenues Pet Clinic for regular veterinary care. If you need emergency care, go to MedVet in Northern Utah. They did our dog’s surgery and took such wonderful care of her, including free after care when her wound didn’t heal properly.
We are regretful that we could not meet your expectations on your wife's last visit with us. Our records indicate that while the doctor did a FAST Scan ruling out a pyometra or stump pyometra at the original visit in 2019, he gave a recommendation to have further testing done to determine Pansy's reproductive status and any next steps if treatment was required. We did not see Pansy again until 2023 and there was no record that further testing had been completed with our team, or any other, to help determine a diagnosis for Pansy. Our team did what we were able to at the time, and we wish you the best.
Experiencia fantástica: On November 7th, 2024 we took our senior dachshund, Hunter as he wasn’t feeling good and come to find out he had a huge mass on his spleen. We were told that it was cancerous and that surgery is a possibility but no guarantees. We didn’t hesitate and just said “Do the surgery! We need to give our boy a fighting chance.” Dr. Carlomagno took care of our sweet man and I am proud to say that our Hunter IS DOING FREAKING AMAZING!!!! He is cancer free and is back to his Hunter normal self!!!! Thank you Dr. Carlomagno for taking care of our baby! We are truly blessed, thankful, fortunate, and grateful that we have our baby still in our lives! The picture attached was taken on 12-26 at 5:43pm
Joanna, thank you for sharing Hunter's incredible recovery journey with us! We're delighted to have been a part of his care and are thrilled to hear he is doing so well.
Experiencia negativa: This place is absolutely awful. They've horribly mishandled my kitten's case and now that my other cat hasn't eaten in 3 days, their only solution is to bring him in to urgent care for a million dollars and give him IV fluids? He's drinking water. He doesn't need IV fluids. He's jealous of the other cat, it's a BEHAVIORAL problem. I am so disappointed and lost. And they're overpriced to the moon, that's the kicker. I haven't had any issues in person but this is completely ridiculous and I recommend trying literally any other vet. EDIT: Big surprise, I made the move to get my elderly cat into the bedroom I've been having to quarantine the kitten in (he has an FIV) and he's finally eating. Many thanks to reddit, they gave me some insight into my jealous old man's cognition and behavior and what I could do to help - which is definitely not IV fluids... I am a dog and cat groomer of 8 years who's worked very closely with vets, assisting in surgery, etc, and it's insulting that they wrote off the detail of my concerns immediately. I don't blame the employees but they clearly need more training and guidance.
We're sorry to hear about your experience with your cat's care, and we understand how distressing it must be. Our team is dedicated to addressing the concerns you’ve raised. Please send an email to our hospital manager at [email protected] so we can discuss your situation further.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr Bagley and everyone at the VCA Cottonwood have been truly amazing and wonderful to our sweet girl Winter. Everyone that helped her on the emergency side took such great care and helped us through the problems. And then Dr Bagley and the surgery and post op team were truly amazing. They all cared from the first to last moment and the surgery was amazing. My pup has recovered perfectly on a Double TPLO surgery on both her back legs. I’d highly recommend them for anything your pet needs!
Thank you, Skyler, for sharing such a glowing review about your experience! Our team is thrilled to hear how well Winter has recovered, and we're grateful for your trust in us for her care.
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you so much for your great compassion during our final moments with our pup, for the no-hurried experience, for giving us time to cry and say good bye, and for the soft blanket you provided.
Martina, we are truly touched by your kind words about your experience with us during such a difficult time. It was our privilege to support you with compassion and care, and we wish you peace and comfort in your cherished memories.
Experiencia negativa: Took our 9 week puppy here after she had fallen and hurt her foot. We were originally told an hour to 2 hour wait and we were totally okay waiting. After 4.5 hours waiting and haven't heard anything. We had decided to ask what was taking so long and was told the doctors were busy and the estimate they had given us was wrong. It would have been nice to at least have someone come let us know what’s going on. Definitely will not be back and recommend any other hospital. Worst service ever!
Ethan, we genuinely regret to hear about your experience, as we understand the importance of communication. Your feedback is important to us, and we wish to discuss your concerns in more detail. Please email our hospital manager at [email protected] so we can address this matter further.
Experiencia positiva: I’ve only taken my 14 1/2 yr old scotty-yorkie to the vet a few times in his life. My husband brought him to VCA animal ER a few years ago after our neighbors 2 dogs attacked him (they bit him and scratched him multiple times) and the staff was great. Now that he’s getting older, his joints bother him so I take him in to get Librela shots every couple of months. The staff is very kind, if a little overworked, and the injections are helping with his arthritis pain. As a human ER RN, I understand being overworked and I feel they do the best they can. I definitely recommend VCA vet clinic.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us! We're so pleased to hear that your senior pup is benefiting from the injections and that our team's dedication resonates with you.
