Experiencia fantástica: My cat is so skittish and hates new places and people. He was a little spicy with the nurse at first but really warmed up to her. The biggest shocker is when the vet came in Dr. Bybee my cat didn’t hiss, growl or even run away! He let him examine him and do whatever! He was so kind with my cat and my cat actually liked him! He eventually warmed up to the nurse and said he was snuggling her when she was filling out forms and stuff! It made my fur momma heart happy that they took such great care of him and he felt so comfortable there! I can’t recommend them enough! I’m so impressed with the staff!! Also when I ran out of funds they worked with me and came up with solutions to help my animal.

Experiencia negativa: Went in for an emergency same day visit. Since it was the only vet available. The tech was amazing! But the vet, Shawn Bybee didn’t seem to be very knowledgeable and when I asked questions as to why he wanted to move forward with a treatment plan, he didn’t have many answers. Seemed to go in circles and didn’t like being asked questions, was how it felt. I’m sure they have other wonderful doctors but unfortunately our experience was not very positive. He ran multiple tests and had no results or answers for either but still wanted to place my dog on antibiotics. Way overpriced. We’ve regularly been going to other vets office's and their prices are no where near this offices. Should have read other reviews, because the replies from this office just sound like defensive excuses in my opinion. :/

Experiencia fantástica: They were very helpful getting me scheduled and listening to my concerns about my pet. They didn't demand or request a deposit before the visit and after the visit the pricing was fair. Just be early because parking is limited and mostly street parking.

Experiencia negativa: Awful, do not take your pet to this vet. They have no affiliation with the college. They missed rampant cancer in my golden doodle through5 visits in a 3 month period. They have too many clients, so they never remember it has the time to actually take care of your pet. Please do not trust your animals with thus vet, alll you’ll get is extremely high bills for terrible service. They will sieve more time asking what is wrong, rather than telling you like they should. Trust this vet at your own peril.

Experiencia negativa: This is not a place to get good service. Very overpriced and chaotic. Can't rely on having the same vet so it's the same as going to a new one every time. They are also incredibly unreliable in following up--just reliable about billing you for all sorts of unnecessary services. They will lie to you about sending over prescriptions or getting back external lab results just to mask their lack of care. I miss when vets actually cared for their patients instead of just how much $$ they can make off them :/

Experiencia fantástica: I have had a really wonderful experience with University Vet. I went to Canyons Vet (would not recommend) who wanted to put my cat down but University Vet has kept him healthy for a year now. My other cat had surgery there and they were very thorough in being mindful of her heart issues and the staff were so nice, they loved her there. I trust this vet a lot and have had great experiences with all the staff.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been to more than 15 vet clinics in my life with various pets. Jazzy needed an immediate dental extraction. This is the nicest, kindest, most friendly and professional Clinic I have ever been to. My cat doesn’t like any vets and she was so comfortable there. They were also so kind to her. From the moment I brought home a very anxious and reactive Boston puppy in January, the entire team has been patient, creative, and unwavering in their commitment to truly fear‑free, low‑stress care. They respect his boundaries, adjust their approach to his comfort level, and have even worked with a consulting veterinary behaviorist to find the right combination of medications and strategies to help him feel safe. Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Kathy Stavely has been my vet since my dog was a puppy (10 yo). I trust her and the rest of the staff. They're knowledgeable (harder and harder to come by these days), efficient, and focused on positive outcomes without trying to sell you a bunch of junk you don't need. Kathy always takes the time to explain everything to me in detail. They are a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Even after moving an hour away for a few years, I would make the trek to University Veterinary Hospital & Diagnostic Center for my dog's care.

Experiencia fantástica: I have gone to the university vet and diagnostic center for over 30 years with many different dogs and they have always treated me well and we’re very efficient and smart and capable of taking care of my pets. My past visit a few days ago with Xena was no different. Dr. Potts was fabulous. There were several issues that we needed to take care of and she was extremely knowledgeable and professional and kind and sweet to me as well, so I trusted her. Heather was her tech And she was very efficient and made me feel very comfortable and safe there. I trusted her as well and let them take Xena to the back and do what they needed to do and now Xena a few days later is just fine. The medication the advice, the different Dog food that they recommended it’s all working so well Xena‘s diarrhea is gone. She is feeling much better. Her limping is so much better. She stopped licking her bottom and her paw so I am very happy with My new doctor Potts and my new tech Heather not to mention Maureen who I have actually been personal friends with for the last 25 years and if I have a problem in the evening or during the night or anytime I can call Mo which is her nickname and she gives me advice and helps me make appointments when I need them and I am personal friends with Dr. McCarron who started the clinic in the first place she can be very proud how it has turned out all these years later because all the doctors the technicians, the managers have all kept everything up the way she had it And it’s a very wonderful reputable Veterinary clinic and diagnostic center I send everybody there I possibly can. I love you all and thank you for being so kind and sweet. I’m 83 years old and everybody treats me like a real person not an invalid. Not very many people these young people these days have that patience and caring and explaining things as well as they do there at the clinic . older people have a lot of questions because they’re very fearful and they always make me feel better and get me calm down because they explain the situation so well and have to repeat it a couple of times and they do very gracefully. As you can tell, I can go on and on about how wonderful the clinic is and all of its employees and management there so I’ll leave it at that and thank you again everyone that I come in contact with there..

Experiencia positiva: It pains my heart to leave less than a five-star review considering how kind the Dr. and staff were, but based on price, this clinic is three times higher than other local vets. $170 initial exam is completely outrageous, $56 for anal glands when I could get a full grooming for this cost, and $50 for probiotics. My friends and I now joke that I will frame this $270 bottle of Miralax. I'm grateful it was a simple fix, but was disheartened at the pricing since I called around afterwards to other clinics whose initial exam runs only $50-$60. I understand you get what you pay for, but was also worried that if my pomeranian ever had a true emergency, the treatment here would be sky high. Such a bummer.

Our prices are in line with other veterinary hospitals in the area. As a medical facility, our exam fees reflect the time, training, and resources required to properly assess your pet’s health. Services such as anal gland expressions and other non-medical needs may be priced lower at grooming facilities, as groomers operate under a different service model than veterinary hospitals.
Regarding medications, we always provide options. Clients may purchase medications directly from our hospital, through our online pharmacy, or request a written prescription to obtain them elsewhere.
We strive to be transparent with our pricing so you can make informed decisions about moving forward with an initial appointment or any recommended diagnostics or treatments.

From the pre-visit communication with Juan, to check-in with the front desk staff, to the care from Maddie, the vet nurse, and care from Dr. Potts, everything went wonderfully. Lumpy was so well cared for and loved that she even fell asleep during her exam! We truly appreciated the time everyone took to make sure she had a positive first vet experience. Experiencia fantástica: Great job, much appreciated by my dog and his humans! - Edited after reading another review. My experience with Dr Staveley was excellent. I thought she did a great job with my dog. In fact, he came in for a problem with his paw, and during the course of solving that problem, Dr Stavely found that he had a couple of foxtails deep in his ear and removed those without any charge. I thought she did an overall great job.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Udy and Leslee, as well as all staff here, are fantastic. Our senior arthritic cat was supposed to have dental surgery and a mass removal at our old vet, but he was severely injured from fighting a simple blood draw. We researched and decided to bring him here for the surgeries, and they took fantastic care of him. They took all of our concerns to heart and handled him with extreme care. He’s home today after surgery yesterday showing no signs of pain or limping despite all of the work done, which shows how gentle they were with him. Dr. Udy also has been the most thorough vet we’ve ever visited, she communicated every single detail with us so we could make informed decisions for our cat. We could not be happier with the care provided here!

Experiencia negativa: I'm writing this review about a specific vet in the office, not about the hospital itself. Dr. Kathy Staveley is the vet in question. I had wonderful experiences with the rest of the staff here, and I haven't tried any of the other vets. I've been going to this vet for about a month. I brought my cat in because I was worried he was diabetic. Turned out he was :( When I asked Dr. Staveley's opinion on things during treatment, she would only refer to the manufacturer's directions for monitoring, even after I repeatedly said that I wanted to spread out the monitoring and vet visits more because I was worried about test costs and wanted to cut down on them as much as possible. She also sent two tests out of the lab and had to refund me twice when they should have been done in-house. I had to ask for one of the test results I paid for because they never got back to me. She would also always get my pets' pronouns wrong, even after I corrected her, which may sound like a small thing, but I have a large tomcat, so it felt like she just wasn't paying attention. I tried to speak with her 2-3 times after diagnosis, but she always seemed like she really didn't want to talk to me and would refer me back to the email she sent me with the directions of treatment, even though that email was what I had questions about. My cat is extremely shy and did not respond well to being taken to the vet. After our last visit, he didn't eat well and wouldn't come out from under the bed for a week. I called the vet twice to try and get Cathy to call me back to let her know I couldn't do this week's appointment and to tell her that I was officially going to spread the tests out a lot more since they are starting to affect my cats ' at-home wellbeing. I asked her opinion, and she once again said she could only recommend what the manufacturer does; she didn't want to work with me or provide me with any professional medical advice that I couldn't have read myself on his pill bottle. I told her I wasn't going to bring him in for another three weeks. She scoffed at this and ended the call with sarcastically wishing me " Good Luck". This is when I decided I was done working with her. I found that last comment, along with the behavior she exhibited during treatment, to be too much. I am a customer, and even if she doesn't agree with my decision, she should keep rude comments such as wishing my sick cat "good luck" (not in a sweet way) to herself. This is not what I want my health care provider to act like for my loved one. I was heartbroken when my cat was diagnosed, and Staveley did not help.

Experiencia negativa: We brought my chronically ill cat with an autoimmune allergic condition in for the first time after moving from out of state. We waited about 20-30 minutes to see Dr. Potts. She explained to us the options for continued treatment for our cat who is around 15 months old. Due to financial constraints we decided to maintain her on her current regimen for now. Despite just wanting to establish care we were heavily pressured into vaccination for our cat. We were told it was legally required (while rabies is legally required the other vaccines were not). They were intentionally deceptive about this. While that's annoying it's not why I'm giving a 1 star review. We were told that our cat may have a reaction after these injections were done (no informed consent) and that if she did we could bring her back by 7 PM. When I called at 6 (we live 5 minutes away at most) because our cat was heavily vomiting, I was told to take her to the ER. This was so disappointing. We lost all trust because this vet was deceptive and lied to us more than once. A few hours later our cat's vomiting turned to blood and we did rush her to the VCA hospital where they were able to give her fluids, epinephrine, steroids, and benadryl and she was right as rain in only 30 minutes. So there definitely would've been more than enough time for University Vet to turn her reaction around and she likely would've needed less medication to do so earlier in the night. We have lost trust in this location and gained trust in VCA so that is where her routine care will be handled moving forward. The vet staff i spoke with after the incident were sympathetic but a refund was not offered which should have happened in my opinion.

Experiencia fantástica: We were there to discuss our 15 + year old Shih Tzu's condition, to see if the vet thought he was suffering. He took his time watching the dog, who chose my husband immediately when we got him, and talking with my husband about how to know when it's time. I was even able to get a video of the whole encounter so we can refer back to it.

Experiencia fantástica: This was our first time at the Vet with our new puppy, and Dr Garcia was great. She took the time to answer all our questions and provided information and tools we needed to keep our puppy healthy until our next visit. She was great with our little dog and we were comfortable that she really knows her stuff. It was a totally positive experience! 2021 ** Fast forward about 5 months and we're still pleased with the care that our growing pup receives at UVH! We had him in yesterday for a procedure and everyone there was great. He's doing well and they called me this morning to follow up and make sure he's doing ok. I feel like he was in very good hands in their care. I'm glad we gave them a shot and they will be caring for our little guy as he grows up! Ok it's now 2025 and our puppy is now 4 years old, and we still take him to University Veterinary Hosp for all his health care. They're always happy to see him, everyone is very professional, and they're located close to our neighborhood so it's actually convenient. Even if they weren't close, we would still be taking him there anyway. They're always very thorough with his exams, and they do genuinely care about each of their patients. You can see that every time you go there. I'm so glad we have UVH onboard to take care of our precious pooch! It's always a paws-itive experience!

Experiencia fantástica: I don’t ever write reviews but the incredible and truly compassionate service we experienced at this clinic from the front desk staff to the vet techs and vet herself, on a Saturday (a busy day for them as one of the few vets open on a weekend) and without being an established patient, was worthy of this 5 star review! - we had a scary experience with our new kitten where he managed to get passed our barriers and fall from a banister . This was the closest vet to us that was open on a Saturday and so we rushed him over there. We were met with so much compassion and immediately taken to a private room. Even though they typically don’t see new patients on the weekend, they made an exception and were able to fit him in between other patients. He was kept for observation for the day and we received videos and text updates which gave us so much peace of mind knowing that he was being loved and cared for. We got a call from the vet herself to update us and when we picked him up he was perfectly content and back to himself. I have never experienced such excellent and personal care from a vet here in Utah. I was so impressed that I have transferred all of our pets over to this clinic! If I could give them 10 stars I would ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Experiencia positiva: I brought my oldest pup in to see Dr Bybee for diarrhea. He listened to me about my worries with her, checked her physically including her anal gland issue, looked at some lumps she has developed over the years and prescribed medication and diet for her. His tech assistant was very kind and helpful as well. She has since improved but isn't yet completely well. My only complaint was that the cost of our visit was really high. As I am the mistress of three dogs and the co-mistress of three cats, I am seriously worried that I will not be able to take my furry critters to vets should they get sick.

Experiencia fantástica: We chose the VA because it was the first one that came up with a good review on Google . we called them. They were very helpful. Got us in on the same day. Our cat has just begun. It’s diabetic journey and we’re still learning so much. The vet and the assistant both were amazing. They helped to understand what was going on. We were able to get a monitor for him we were able to get a rabies update as well as they are gonna allow us to send information about the monitor that we placed on our cat. To let us know what the next step is, I can’t recommend this vet enough. We are traveling through America in a van, and we feel so fortunate that we found them.

Experiencia negativa: I’ve been bringing my dogs to this clinic for many years and had generally positive experiences while they were healthy. However, my opinion has changed after a recent experience. One of my dogs, who was diagnosed with cancer, was referred to another clinic for oncology care. She had been on a prescription diet all her life prescribed by the University Vet. When the prescription expired, I reached out and requested a one-time renewal, especially since she is not responding to treatment and, heartbreakingly, only has a few weeks left. Unfortunately, the clinic refused to renew the prescription. They wanted me to bring the dog in and pay for the visit, despite her condition. At a time when compassion should come first, it felt like financial considerations were prioritized over patient care. I’m deeply disappointed by this lack of empathy and will be looking for a new vet for my other dog moving forward.

Experiencia negativa: Received a quote for service over the phone. Confirmed price before arriving at appt. When I arrived, was told by Tech prior to any examination that the service would be $92 more than the quote I received. When I explained that I had verified price over the phone, Tech replied that the Receptionist wouldn’t actually know the price. I informed them that Receptionist spoke as if she knew pricing, and would like it honored. I was rudely and abruptly refused. The Receptionist and/or Tech need retraining as to what prices are and how to treat a person. I have brought my pet here before and received stellar treatment, that’s why I gave two stars instead of zero. Bait and switch and false advertising is condemnable.

Experiencia negativa: Nice facility, and staff is nice but over charge. We Took our two dogs for health certification for international travel. This provider seems to be unfamiliar with the process but willing to charge hundreds of dollars for vaccines that elsewhere would have been $50 and over a thousand dollars for certification services that elsewhere cost half with providers who are much more familiar with the USDA health certificate.

Experiencia negativa: After paying 4 months of wellness plan while only visited the vet once, I decided to cancel their plan as both of my doggies are 3+ years old and they are also covered by insurance. I need to pay $95 to cancel the plan for a 6-year old dog. I also went there once to figure out what caused the infection of dog’s leg, after spending $450, they couldn’t find anything and also didn’t know what caused the infections. They did try to help by doing things that I can easily do at home. This hospital is driven by money. Their staffs are very kind, but I doubt about the professionalism of their doctors. Run away from this hospital. They have nothing related with the university.

Experiencia fantástica: They take very good care of our doggie. His double surgery was successful with no complications. Very understanding, much expertise, well organized, clean environment, kind staff, great surgeons. Any negative reviews I read seem to me to be utterly unfounded.

Experiencia negativa: Nice vets but we went last week for my dog who was told he has “colitis” and we go back this week because all they gave him was probiotics we see a different vet and they mention he has Giardia. $800 down because they didn’t tell us last week what it actually was, and only gave us probiotics. No wonder he’s still just as sick! This is very frustrating and sad for my pup. Highly disappointed.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff is always friendly. Everyone seems very knowledgeable and are communicative. I have never had to go fishing for information. They always come to me. I feel supported and my dog is being well taken care of.

Experiencia negativa: We’ve been bringing our pets to this clinic for years and have always valued the care they’ve received. Unfortunately, our recent experience left us deeply disappointed. Our dog was recently bitten by a rattlesnake while we were in St. George and required 24-hour emergency care. After she was discharged, her face remained swollen and she wasn’t eating or drinking, so I called University Vet to see if we could get her seen urgently. I was told emergency appointments were available, which was a relief. However, I soon received a call back saying they would not see her because she is a “reactive” dog and recommended we go elsewhere. This was incredibly upsetting—especially from a clinic that claims to be “fear free.” Turning away a sick and injured dog in her time of greatest need because of her behavior—behavior likely intensified by pain and trauma—was disheartening. This wasn’t the level of compassion or care we expected from a place we’ve trusted for so long. Edit: She was released from a 26 hour visit from emergency vet, where they gave her carprofen which was contraindicated with her condition. She wasn't eating or drinking because she was in pain. When I originally called I asked if she could receive pain medication. I was told that she needed to be seen. You guys didn't see her, not because of the dogs well being, but for your own inconvenience. We later went to emergency vet, they checked her heart and gave us pain meds. You guys could have done this too. Already in the process of transferring pets elsewhere.

Experiencia negativa: Unfortunately, I am disappointed. I came to Dr. Garcia from a recommendation and expected to be met with more information and guidance than I received. I let the clinic know when I scheduled the appointment that I am new to kitten life and was hoping for some help understanding what shots were needed, which were not, etc. The why’s and why not's of it all. But, I felt like another number being sold products. Very little care. The vet came in late after sending folks in to explain things that they did not understand. I’m in the service industry. Have been for over twenty years. This was less than an underwhelming visit. It was discouraging, very frustrating, and honestly, a bit sad. Would not recommend. Go somewhere cheaper for better care, and more attention.

Experiencia fantástica: Took my senior dog in a few weeks ago and they were super kind fitting me in and took very good care of her. They were very accommodating and didn’t push what they didn’t feel was necessary for her. The whole staff is very friendly and helpful, answering questions and being sweet with Juno. Had to take her in again today for a little sore she had and they were honest about what they felt was best without it being overly expensive. Also since Ive been twice I’ve seen two different vet techs and veterinarians and they’re all so lovely. I’ve been to a few different vet clinics and this one is by far my favorite. High recommend.

Experiencia negativa: I took my cat in yesterday to get some teeth pulled. He died today. He wasn't even 6 years old. Not even 24 hours after taking him home. I took him back in earlier today because I was concerned about his breathing and the fact that he couldn't use his legs. They told me that it was just a reaction to his medication and sent me home. He died a couple hours later. I know that it's always a risk when a pet is put under for surgery, but I'm really upset that I was sent away when my concerns were obviously legitimate. At the very least, they could have errored on the side of caution and advised me to take him to the ER. Our hearts are absolutely broken.

Experiencia fantástica: I want to acknowledge that Vet care comes with costs, often more than one expects, but over the years finding a reliable Vet seems to have gotten more difficult. This is where UVH excels - there is always someone to answer the phone, occasionally I wait on hold, but they are always helpful. They have same-day appointments if you call early in the morning. The Drs are knowledgeable, the techs are mostly great. We drive across the valley, from Tooele county, to bring our dogs here.

Experiencia positiva: The Tech staff were SPECTACULAR. They handled my 13yo half blind, arthritic pitty mix with love and tenderness. Even through a nail trim. My girl has hated having her feet touched her entire life. They managed the best manicure she's had in a decade, while getting a blood and urine sample at the same time. The vet she saw wasn't fantastic. He seemed unsure, didn't bother to greet my dog and was rough while checking her ears Then seemed afraid when she jerked away from him. I will definitely go back for my dogs continued care, just hopefully with a vet that's less anxious.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been taking my 2 cats here for years, and have always loved the care here. They take time with you during appointments, they explain things to help you understand. I’ve had to take them in for urgent care appointments a couple of times (not ER, just urgent care) and those went great. Amazing care team!

Experiencia negativa: I have been bringing my dog here for 5 years and unfortunately will be looking for a new vet after the experience we’ve had this week. I followed up an exam with an email to Dr. Brown with some questions concerning a diet change she prescribed. Instead of answering the questions, I got a very condescending phone call from a vet tech that 1. Did not answer the questions 2. Proceeded to confuse me about if she had even read the questions 3. Lectured me about the “palatability of prescription diets”. 4. Asked me how I wanted to pay for it. We do not feel like Dr. Brown initially listened to our concerns as dog parents, nor do I ever want to be spoken to like that about my dog ever again by a vet tech. I am so sad because I used to constantly brag about Dr. Bybee and all the staff at University Vet. I have referred many friends over the years. But we really can’t bring ourselves to take our fur baby to a place that doesn’t seem to listen to us or speak to us with respect.

Experiencia negativa: I called around for a reasonable price for a tooth extraction and they quoted me $700 plus some possible extra fees. The exam was $100 for them to tell me the cost would be between $900-$1500 but no price breakdown of the $900. So I wasted $100 for the price to be wildly inaccurate and a waste of time.
