Live Oak Animal Hospital: Opiniones
Experiencia negativa: Well our baby, standard poodle when here for a spay they did the did it knowing she had thin blood and dident think to tell us the next day we dident get papers to well us where to call or even tell us that her blood was thin so we were not awear what to look out for, the next day she was dead and we found out if was the vets fault on a autopsy that there was a loose suture, dont go here if you want a scam and no remorse for a passing pet she was only four and dident deserve that.
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you guys for taking care of my kitty today after tooth extractions. As a walk in on a sunday evening the staff was very nice im thankful to god yall were open. The er was going to be a few hours wait but I went to yall and we got in in a very timely manner. God bless you guys and thank you dr Henderson. !
Experiencia negativa: My pup was breathing weird and felt warm. After 1.5 hours in the parking lot, a pretty much forced parvo test in the parking lot to even see a vet (vaccinated and no parvo symptoms) 1100 dollars later, an overnight stay, no communication from the vet, no diagnosis, and hour wait when I went to get her. Vet tech brings her out shivering in a puppy pad after a 1/4 bath for diarrhea that just happened. Despite having dried poop on her nails. They did all testing to run up my bill and zero actual treatment or even communication what the lab results were. I specifically asked them not to feed her anything with chicken and by the diarrhea she had leaving (which she did not have going in) it was clear she probably was fed chicken. No communication from a vet I was overcharged to see. This place is a joke unless you just want to have a high bill and zero answers. Giving a 1 star was generous! Live Oak…Do better
Experiencia fantástica: the staff at this clinic were so incredibly caring and kind to my cat Gary, the nurse and doctor were very thorough with his plan of care and treatment. i was a walk in patient and the wait time was maybe 20-25 minutes. i highly recommend this clinic!! in the future if any of my animals need care i will definitely be returning! :)
Experiencia negativa: Unprofessional staff. My 2month old kitten quickly became sick so we called live oak for guidance on the severity of the kitten symptoms. The woman on the phone was not much help and instructed “it’s up to you if you want to bring him in”. I however understand this conversation was on the phone therefore a proper suggestions would be difficult. For this reason we decided to bring the kitten into the vet. After putting the hospitals location into our maps we realized it was much further than expected. We still wanted to go to live oak because of the holiday weekend many other vet clinics were closed and wouldn’t be open for another 4-5 days. We immediately called the front desk, for the third time now, to inform them that maps estimated our arrival to be 10:01, they closed at 10 today. When we arrived right at 10:01 there was a family walking out the door but as we walked up to the glass doors the receptionist locked it in our faces. The clinic was clear about their hours however the disrespect we received from the front desk was unacceptable. Because of our former communication & concerns surrounding our arrival time, the front desk associate was excepting us. The woman laughed at us as she mopped the front and then proceeded to obnoxiously hold up ten fingers in an comedic manner to insinuate “we closed at ten” and “you arrived a minute late.” I have previously trusted this hospital with my pets however I am extremely frustrated with how the receptionist handled this situation. In a time full on anxiety for the health my kitten this hospital was anything but helpful. If the vet could truly not take a quick look at my small kitten, then I wish the receptionist would have shown some compassion or even directed my towards a pet ER in the area. Anything but sit there and laugh at us! This was by far my worst and last time at Live Oak.
Experiencia fantástica: Always kind, compassionate and efficient. All techs seem to truly love animals♥️
Experiencia negativa: Used to be a good vet clinic. Quite disappointed with my last visit. Especially after the cost. Was told likely she had cancer and it was just swelling.
Experiencia negativa: Awful. Just awful. Took 7 hours to see my a vet tech. Then they didn’t even get to my animal by closing time so they kept him over night. Of which they said they wouldn’t charge me…but they did. Then when I picked up my animal, they didn’t even go over what all was wrong with him. And so he got worse. And I eventually had to take him to the actual emergency vet of which they were $500 CHEAPER than live oak! If you care about your pet, I would not take them to live Oak
Experiencia negativa: Worst vet clinic I've ever been to. My dog is scratching her ears and shakes her head so i took her in they swabed her ears. The vet said he couldn't see anything and cleaned her ears. Needless to say 200 dollars later they said it might take 3 to 5 days she would be better. So I waited. 7 days later she's still scratches so I called them back and they told me to bring her back in. So I asked if there's going to be a charge for bring her back in for the same thing and the vet said YES probably another 200 dollars. I recommend people take there loved one to Caprock vet clinic. He is a lot better vet and a LOT cheaper. So please don't take ur animal LIVE OAK. I'LL NEVER GO BACK. They aren't trustworthy
Experiencia fantástica: I've been going here for years. Dr Ashleigh Patridge and Dr Trent Hohrein are the best vets ever. Wouldn't even consider going anywhere else. The level of care here is better than anywhere else in town.
Experiencia fantástica: They were very helpful, nice and educated, and understanding, they made everything feel easier. The price was very reasonable, and they were very honest about everything during the appointment. Will be going back!
Experiencia fantástica: They saved our puppy beanz after he got into rat poison we really appreciate you for taken care of our little man
Experiencia fantástica: Husband took our dog there for illness and staff was amazing. Didn’t feel rushed even though it was a walk in appointment. Doctor was kind enough to speak to me on the phone multiple times as well, polite and professional. I could tell he genuinely wanted to help. Despite losing our dog today, planning to transition other pets to this clinic. Thanks for making a tough day a little easier.
Experiencia fantástica: They are great. I drive an hour and twenty minutes to come here, one way.
Experiencia positiva: They used to have dedicated caring workers but when I went this week it was totally different .. check out the one star reviews for yourself.
Experiencia negativa: The clinic's scheduling is ineffective, as appointments routinely result in excessively long waiting room times for pet owners. HOURS ON END. This significant wait time, combined with "terrible service and outrageous prices," makes this a terrible clinic, in my opinion.
Experiencia positiva: The vet techs and doctors here are so kind and so knowledgeable about what your animal needs! Love them. The same does not apply to the front desk staff. Receptionist staff is often rude, does not explain what is happening and somehow always tells me i’m a walk in instead of an appointment, even after showing them my appointment confirmation. They also love to have 5 people up there, but all 5 will ignore your existence until you wait at least 15 minutes in an empty lobby. Multiple times i’ve had an appointment and waited anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours because they check in as a walk in. Ridiculous procedure they have for creating online appointments, even though it’s the primarily advertised option.
Experiencia fantástica: Dr Clark did surgery on my cat and he was the kindest, most thorough person. I was treated with so much respect. The front desk and his nurse were also fantastic. You took such good care of Lavender and I love you all! She is a happy cat now!
Experiencia negativa: I took my bird here and had an awful experience. I walked in and noticed that they had a candle lit in their lobby, candles are notoriously toxic to birds so I asked them if they could not burn the candle in their lobby because my bird was dealing with lung inflammation. The woman working at the front responded with “just go sit over there” and motioned me away. I was already dealing with so much stress and pain from my baby being sick, and when I was met with such apathy it made me feel hopeless. I sat outside with my bird until it was time for my appointment. During my appointment they mentioned that my bird was looking at kidney failure and they offered to euthanize her if that’s what I wanted. The vet that treated her told me that they probably didn’t have the correct equipment to treat her so she told me to go to an avian vet outside of Dallas. Although this vet wasn’t a specialist in exotic birds, she seemed to care. I really appreciated her honesty and I took daisy to the specialist and she’s being treated right now with fantastic care in Dallas. If you have a bird that needs to be treated, I suggest that you go to Texas Avian & Exotic Hospital in Grapevine Texas instead of taking them to Live Oak. Edit: This vet completely misdiagnosed my bird and offered to euthanize her when they didn’t even know what was happening. My bird’s kidneys were completely fine, they misread the x rays and thought that her GI track was her kidneys. They said that my bird was in a lot of pain and looking at kidney failure when my bird had some inflammation in her intestines. I’ve never experienced such apathy from a vet and I am still traumatized from the whole thing. Live Oak made me feel like they viewed my bird as property, not a living being. This vet has caused me so much pain and stress and I suggest that you do not bring your pet here. I have never been met with such apathy from a vet and I would hate for something like this to happen to anyone else. If you have a bird, take them to Texas Avian and Exotic Hospital. They are much more empathetic and they treated my bird with the empathy and professionalism that Live Oak lacked.
Experiencia fantástica: They've always been great with all my animals
Experiencia fantástica: I had to put my dog down a few days ago and we were there past 11pm and they were so kind didn’t rush us at all, after it was done they let us sit with her and when we did leave they stayed in the room with our precious Nova Reign Thank yall for being so kind
Experiencia negativa: 1-Star Review I’ve been going to this clinic for 7 years, but after my last two visits, I will never go back. On my first visit, I brought my cat in because he wasn’t eating. I asked for blood work, but they refused, saying he was “spicy” and would need to be sedated—an extra $180 on top of the cost of the blood work. I offered to hold him myself since he’s calm with me, but they refused. Instead, they sent me home with meds that didn’t work. When I called back after the meds ran out, I was told I’d have to pay another $75 exam fee just to be seen again, even though he had just been there. I had already spent over $200. A few weeks later, I saved up enough to take him back. The vet briefly felt his stomach and said, “Yeah, I think I feel something.” He pushed for an X-ray instead of the blood work I requested. Afterward, they said again my cat was “spicy,” so the X-rays weren’t great, but he thought there was something “suspicious.” His recommendation? An exploratory surgery for $3,000. When I asked for a clearer reason, he couldn’t give me one—just told me to “go home and talk to my husband about it logically.” I left in tears after paying another $204. I then took my cat to another vet on 82nd St, and guess what? They did the blood work—no sedation needed! Turns out his liver enzymes were high because he’d stopped eating from stress after another cat came into the home. He ended up needing a feeding tube and hospitalization. This could have been diagnosed a month earlier if this clinic had simply listened and done the blood work I requested. After years of loyalty, I’m heartbroken and furious. My cat suffered unnecessarily because this clinic cared more about upselling expensive procedures than actually helping him.
Experiencia negativa: Horrible experience I come here destroyed cuz idk what’s going on with my cat they charged me 71 bucks just for me to tell them what happened and nothing else they didnt even touch my cat we are not all rich we can’t all afford 480 bucks so you can see what’s going on with my cat there should be help for people with low resources this feels so unfair my cat still suffering and I gave my last bit of money to some ignorant clinic without a heart I understand you guys need to get paid too but there should be expections pay later options for people who can’t do it not just let my pet die you guys have no heart and no care for people or animals
Experiencia fantástica: Went to Liveoak due to my cat having bleeding, she needed pyometra surgery. This establishment went above and beyond with care, from receptionist, vet techs, to the veterinarian himself. Very empathetic people. My cat is now two weeks post op and healing well. Thank you Liveoak!
Experiencia fantástica: I am editing this review because I kind of joked about this place being good in my last review but they deserve more than that. These people genuinely care about my dogs. They always take care of them and make me feel confident in the after care instructions they are providing. I can’t imagine taking them anywhere else.
Experiencia fantástica: We had a great experience bringing our little Boston here. Dr. Hohrein was amazing and took great care of us! Jordan, the technician we had from New Zealand, was very personable and even walked us out to our truck! Thank y’all.
Experiencia negativa: was told the wait was going to be 2 1/2 hours and to wait in the car after rushing in frantic about my dogs sprained leg. the vet then proceeded to say if i’m not there in 2 minutes they’ll see another animal. after waiting 2 1/2 hours i was brought into a room and told that i would have to wait an unknown amount of time for a doctor to even see my dog. only conversation was about how much they were going to charge me for an xray and exa. terrible place doesn’t care about anything but getting your money don’t recommend if you actually care about top quality animal care.
Experiencia fantástica: I had to say goodbye to my long time companion, they were kind and loving during the entire process.
Experiencia fantástica: Awesome staff and doctors! The staff is amazing and let you know what other services your pet will need and the doctors carefully explain the course of action. This location is open 8am - 10pm Monday through Friday and Saturday 8am - 8pm. One thing I Love is they are also open Sunday's from 12pm - 8pm for walk-in.
Experiencia negativa: The vet prescribed my cat the wrong medication that could have killed him being mixed with what he was already on. Luckily something didn’t feel right when I got home so I looked it up. They gave me the correct medication but I will never go there again.
Experiencia negativa: Took my dog cause he was sick then paid to get his glands expressed and ever since they done them he’s had a horrible smell and constantly licking. Tired calling them several times told someone would call me back never did. Just talked to someone again and yeah take him back but me pay yet again $72 plus a possible additional $30. Never have we had this issue anywhere else. And we have used them for numerous animals and have never really had any issues but this is been horrible experience! I don’t feel we should have to pay again for something that happened due to them maybe not expressing them right… anyhow ridiculous
Experiencia positiva: I have been coming to this animal hospital got quite some time now and overall I have a good experience. Some visits are worse than others. Wait time isn’t two bad if you have a appointment so I suggest setting up an appointment over just walking in.
Experiencia fantástica: The hardest decision is whether or not to put a loved one down. Yall offered grace, dignity, extreme care and advice. yalls mobile team was EXCEPTIONALLY CARING, FOR MY NICO AS WELL. COMFORT WAS AFFORDED, AND ONE IF not THE HARDEST DECISION, WAS BACKED UP BY EXCELLENT SERVICE, AND CARE. Thank yall, your mobile team, don't recall the lady doctor name, but assistant Trinity, NICO WILL BE FOREVER MISSED, but yall were extremely helpful, no pressure, but still the hardest decision yet. Thank yall plz THANK THE TEAM, AS THEY WERE EXTREMELY CARING, AND I'LL B 4EVER GRATEFUL Spencer
Experiencia fantástica: I am very happy they got my sick cat in right away. They were very nice to me when I put down my cat.
Experiencia fantástica: Phenomenal staff!! Took care of our frenchie Tazz from the moment we brought him in for emergency surgery for IVDD. Stayed at Live Oak for 31days after his surgery, and would get excited to see his Techs after visiting with him. Thank you to the entire staff who comfort us during this ordeal. Tazz is home now, but we will make sure to take him by to visit!
Experiencia negativa: Very Rude Staff, just conceited, and not very friendly. Whenever we walked in, my mother was clutching our dog, and she just wanted treatment, she filled out the little paper and put “pain” where it says dogs name. Then the lady asked me, your dogs name is pain? In a female dog tone. We waited about 10 minutes and walked out. These people have no compassion, and honestly, if that’s how they treat other people I don’t know how they’re in business.
Experiencia negativa: Back is 2020 we sent in a small dog his name was boyd to get some shots for dewormer soon after the pup was feeling a lot worse than what they said and then he passed away refused to let us see his records and when we finally got them from a vet from Dimmitt we found out they put enough dewormer for a 30lbs dog mind you this is a small teacup yorkie that was about 2 lbs
Experiencia negativa: Very rude staff at the front desk. Gracie was the exception; she was kind and thorough. Expensive services, very long wait times. Literally said to my face as my cat was dying, "We won't start treatment until you pay." Staff needs bedside training. The man at the front desk is rude even to his coworkers, he needs sensitivity training or something.
Experiencia fantástica: I was visiting my daughter when my dog starting having significant breathing problems. The team at Live Oak did a great job! The care and recommendations from Dr Chattin was very helpful and insightful.
Experiencia fantástica: We have been bringing my service dog, Chase, to this clinic since 2019. The staff here are always professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. There is rarely a long wait, and scheduling is easy.
Experiencia fantástica: I would like to compliment this veterinary facility, and especially highlight Dr. Cassidy Chattin and vet tech Maya. We had to make a very difficult decision about our 13 year-old pug yesterday. The team was knowledgeable, sensitive, and caring. I would recommend them highly, especially Dr. Chattin.
Experiencia negativa: I did an appointment online and next day received a text to confirm the appointment which I did and then day of appointment I was called to say they weren't able to do the appointment as no times were available, that's frustrating. Finally getting an appointment the next day I was disappointed with today's visit, had an appointment for 10am and did not get seen until 43 minutes later. After 35 minutes waiting, I went to ask the front desk if we were going to be seen. FIVE staff were sitting there or walked by without even acknowledging my existence before someone finally decided to ask how they could help. Something seems to have changed there. Will be looking into other vet options in the area
Experiencia negativa: Appointment was scheduled for 5:30pm, it is 7:40, and still waiting to be seen. The kicker is, the close in 20 minutes. Why have a scheduled appointment? I think we could have come in as a walk in and be home already. This very thing happened about a year ago and we were pretty disappointed by the wait times hoping that the visit today would have been different but it’s not. The sad thing about it all is that veterinarian was really nice.
Experiencia fantástica: We had been seen May 21st, 2025 with a complicated neurological puppy case. Making my appointment was quick and easy, they even accommodated my schedule and got us in quickly. We drove over an hour and a half just to be seen. The front office staff had been kind and considerate. They got us into an exam room quickly. We had been greeted by a wonderful vet tech who took our puppy's temperature and got a detailed history. Within 15 minutes of our scheduled appointment time our puppy was seen by RaeAnn Cannon, DMV. A thorough exam was completed, I was asked what we'd like to do and Dr. Cannon listened to our requests, agreed, and we were given a estimate for additional tests and the necessary medications to allow our puppy to be comfortable and without pain. I couldn't have been more pleased and impressed with the professionalism, empathy and compassion ALL the staff had for my puppy. Enough time was allowed and they even vaccinated my puppy which had been above and beyond my scheduled requested appointment. Did not feel rushed, we expected a recommendation for euthanasia. We are pleased and impressed that as clients we had been heard, our voice spoke for our puppies best possible outcome. I wish they were closer to my home, as I would apply to be a vet tech at this hospital in a heartbeat. People will leave bad reviews when unfortunate situations arise, thats just the nature of a veterinary hospital and its business. I know, I have over 25 years of experience in this field. I personally, highly recommend Live Oak Animal Hospital. They helped us turn a bad situation into a potentially successful outcome for our Waffles...!!!
Experiencia fantástica: My dog got into it with a porcupine and I needed help I was turned away from 2 vets in amarillo (I live in canyon) on Sunday due to my dog being reactive. Live Oak told me to bring him and they all took the best and most gentle care of my boy. I highly recommend and will use again. Thank you so much for your compassion with a reactive
Experiencia negativa: the worst vet we could go to, because of their poor communication especially by their receptionist who never said it was an emergency my rabbit died in my arms, they had me waiting from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm at the reception without ever seeing me, my husband told them many times that it was an emergency since my rabbit was old and had been sick since the night before. I told the receptionist again that my rabbit was very sick and that it was an emergency to which she only told me “sorry we have more patients waiting I promise you you're next” even though they have a sign saying that if it's an emergency it's priority, after that the treatment of their staff and doctor was pathetic they only asked for forgiveness “because nobody told them it was an emergency” and I put this here so that no one has to go through the pain that my family is going through just because of their “poor communication”
Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Wolfe and the staff at Live Oak are great. I brought in a semi-feral cat that was sick and she and the staff treated me and the cat with so much kindness and professionalism. I’m so grateful for the help they offer for colony cats. They were efficient in treating the cat and getting her spayed and vaccinated while we had her caught. Thanks to Dr. Wolfe’s care, the cat is making a good recovery. I’m so thankful for the care and compassion that they extended even to a feral cat.
Experiencia fantástica: Thank you to each and every member of the staff for treating our Bailey with love and care. We will be bringing the rest of our animals to this location. Highly recommend for your animal concerns
Experiencia negativa: Have gone to this location for years and never had an issue. Went in last week to get my dog quarantined and got turned away immediately saying “we don’t do that here” by a young lady that sits on the end. Went to the south location and they gladly helped me out and informed me they actually do quarantine at both live oak locations. Need to work on having better and more helpful staff instead of turning people away just because you’re lazy and don’t want to do your job.
Experiencia fantástica: Got here late afternoon (5ish) and the wait room was full! The front desk was fully staffed and very friendly. Understanding that there was a wait and the clear signs of how they serve patients, we were still able to get into a room and Dr. Henderson was able to take a look at cookie and was very clear about the diagnosis within about an hour and a half. Also gave us a great price! Very friendly staff. Thank you for your help.
Experiencia fantástica: Shout out to ALL the staff at live oak! Thank you all for taking such good care of my mini dachshund while suffering from pancreatitis. Everyone was so helpful, and caring to my sweet girl Murphee. She’s back home and doing great! Thanks again for such great work!
Experiencia negativa: My fifteen year old chihuahua needed her shots and she developed a limp on her left leg and was shaking her head a lot. I explained I was on social security and couldn't afford a whole bunch of stuff so they eventually decided to do everything they wanted to do it cost me over five hundred dollars. I had to turn down x rays at a hundred and fifty dollars to get out of there with like a two hundred and forty dollar bill. And no one seems to know where there's a cheaper place for seniors to get their animals cared for.
Experiencia fantástica: Took my puppy Bella into live oak on a Sunday. Yes they are open long hours which is a HUGE PLUS! Not going to go into details about her. But Dr Matt Henderson was awesome. I truly believe he cares. My wife being a cardiovascular nurse had tons of questions. Which he remained in our room and answering them all and never seemed rushed to move on. Then after he left we had more questions and he was very busy but returned. Then days later we called and in between surgery he called and chatted for quite a bit with us. All I can say is I believe he is a true pet lover and understands the roll our pets are in our families. Thanks Dr Matt Henderson for nothing more than caring. ❤️
Experiencia fantástica: They saved my puppy’s life! I’m so grateful for their service and how caring they were. I didn’t catch his name but the male vet tech is truly my hero for helping my puppy get IV fluids and hospitalization ASAP. I’ve been serving our country in the military for 12 years as a single guy and my dog helps with any mental health problems I have. They essentially saved my life too ❤️
Experiencia fantástica: My wife and I went in with our Houdini on Sunday afternoon with about an hour before closing time. We waited in a lobby full of friendly patients. Dr. Hildebrandt and her assistant saw us and were very pleasantly sensitive to Houdini and to us. We appreciate the way they took care of us without any rush. May God's blessings be upon you as you use your skills to treat our little pets. ET & BT
Experiencia negativa: Live Oak in Lubbock on 98th St. Isn’t a good place to take your sick dog they will require lots of money down and don’t even offer you a payment plan. They also make you wait in the car for hours before they call you back . They will refer you to making a GoFundMe on Facebook and ask people for donations if you don’t have the funds. They will do the bare minimal and all they care about is money. Would not recommend this place. $3000 down and you’re told Your dog will only have a 50-50 chance if any. :(
Experiencia fantástica: We again would like to thank the entire staff of Live Oak. Thank you for the compassionate way & support you all provide. Best Vets, Clinic & Staff I’ve ever seen. I’d like to thank all the staff for their compassion, empathy & such good treatment of the animals that come in.
Experiencia negativa: Had a terrible experience with this place. I brought my dog in who was sick and they explained that nothing was wrong yet she was defecating blood and vomiting blood. Spoke to another vet and they were able to give a diagnosis right off the bat. This place tried to up sell and rip me off on special food and shots, etc. They had recommended a home remedy of mixing chicken and rice for a diet which I was grateful for but my dog still continued to have the same issues. I called back a day later and they had given me a “return” quote of 43 dollars and I decided to hold off. I let a few days go by to see if things got better and the same symptoms continued so I called back yet again and they said that since the doctor that saw me originally isn’t working that they couldn’t guarantee that they would honor the return fee. They said that it would be at the “doctors discretion.” Not to mention, they tried to rip me off by up charging an extra 150 dollars more than any other hospital or vet in the area for a blood test. Will be taking my business elsewhere from here on out and would certainly recommend you do the same.
Experiencia fantástica: Love Dr. Clary and this hospital! Brought my dog for a second opinion and he really listened, gave great feedback and was so thorough! I immediately felt comfortable with him. He amputated his leg, was back home in two days, and doing great! Pricing was very reasonable for the care given. I highly recommend them!
Experiencia negativa: I just Want to come on here to say that this was the worst Veterinarian service I have ever been to! Not only did I have to wait in the truck for 2 1/2 hours with a dog who was pooping blood all over the truck and throwing up every 20 minutes. But they let me know that she had a 6070% chance of surviving and by the time I got home, she passed away in my arms when they could’ve done something!! I will never be as disgusted with a vet veterinary clinic as I was with these. When they say that money gets you a lot further this place especially watch out people. If you don’t have money they’re not gonna take care of your pets.. I will forever miss my Adalyn, Mae And know deep down that these people could’ve done something better to make sure that she was still with us today.
Experiencia fantástica: I recently went through a very difficult time with a cat of mine named Emma. We received a very difficult diagnosis, and ultimately had to put her to sleep. That being said, Dr. Cleveland, Cassidy Snow (DVM student), Kat Chappa, and the whole live oak team were incredible throughout. Everyone went above and beyond, and made a difficult time that much more bearable. I can never thank them enough
Experiencia fantástica: My 16 year old cat started to decline, so I had scheduled an at-home appointment to have him put to sleep in a few days. When his symptoms rapidly progressed and we couldn’t wait, I brought him into the vet. Everyone I encountered was so caring. I didn’t have an appointment, but they took us right back and made him comfortable. I wasn’t rushed in any way and they allowed me to take as much time as we needed before and after the procedure. The last thing I ever wanted for him was to pass outside of his home, but the staff at this office made this heartbreaking experience the best it could’ve been with respect to compassion, support, privacy, comfort, and dignity. Thank you for all of your help and being there for him.
Experiencia fantástica: They saved Chloe, our 11week old puppy, from having surgery! She had swallowed some plastic with a metal clip on it. They were able to extract the item and send us home (a two hour drive) with her that evening. They loved on her as if she were their own puppy. We had a blessed Christmas because Live Oak and their staff were there for us! Thank you!!!
Experiencia negativa: The worst place!!!! I will never recommend anyone here after the experience we had. We took our pregnant english bulldog here preparing for c-section and the last days we took her for reverse progesterone went in Thursday, Saturday and due date Sunday. She showed every sign of labor Sunday and they said no she's not ready maybe over night or in the morning but to take her to small animal emergency and they will take us in. It was closing time so I know they didn't want to work cause literally after we left she gave birth to 1 on the seat and we rushed to small animal emergency and they turned us away said we suggest to go home and have them natural cause they only do emergency if momma is dieing.Thankfully Garza county animal hospital saved us we headed there and the vet stayed on the phone with us helping us through everything. They did the c-section and the baby that was born on the seat survived along with the others, momma and babies are healthy and doing great. I will NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE NOR SMALL ANIMAL EMERGENCY TO ANYONE!!!HANDS DOWN TO THE VET AT GARZA COUNTY HOSPITAL!!!!
Experiencia negativa: I think this place is cold hearted... the staff is just there for a check not even animal lovers. My wife and 4yearold daughter just took my daughters dog that had parvo to them I only sent them with $200 and I could have payed them when I got off work but they wouldn't help the dog with out money up front $200 wasn't enough to start saving her dog. Well the dog passed away from parvo
Experiencia negativa: This place has no compassion and only care about money. The animal does not matter. And they are very unprofessional. I had a friend whose 17 year old shitzu had fallen off her balcony, she had no money to euthanize her beloved dog. I called bryleigh at live oak and she sounded like she was sorry and wanted to help she told me they would euthanize my friends dog for $90 which was a good price, when my wife took jazmin to them they played her on the table and stood around her while she's yelping and on the edge of death, and then told my wife they can't euthanize her without a sedative and it was gonna cost more money.... after they charged my carecredit for 90 bucks. The dog is dieing slowly and you know part of the euthanization process is giving them a sedative so the dog won't suffer. Why charge a set price to do a procedure and then try and add more to the process. As I said these folks are heartless and have no compassion.ill never go there again. And I recommend anyone else find a better place.
Experiencia fantástica: Everyone here was amazing! We were in town from Houston and tried to get in to see the ER animal hospital at 6:30am and she told us not to come bc they closed at 8am. We walked right into Live Oak and they immediately took care of us and got Hank right in and started running tests right away! They are the friendliest and so caring! I would 100% recommend bringing your fur baby here!
Experiencia fantástica: Amazing staff and doctor. Sadly it wasnt a normal visit, but the staff was so nice and welcoming. They were loving and gentle with our fur baby! Highly would recommend.
Experiencia negativa: Well it started nice , I thought they were great took out a cyst from my cat. I was told to bring my cat in a week later to get her stitches out , I had called multiple times to make sure it’s ok because I stated to them it still doesn’t look heal and they said it’s normal. They took her stitches out i asked after is it normal for it to be bleeding and they said ITS OKAY AND NORMAL I come home HER SKIN IS OPENING UP AND BLEEDING and they call me THAT THEY MADE A MISTAKE and she wasn’t do for ANOTHER WEEK?? Had to rush her back in get the poor girl SEDATED AGAIN stating oh it be free ?? WELL PLEASE AS IF IT WAS SUPPOSE NOT BE FREE after I trusted the whole staff with my 10lb cat that is so small. Anyways ya take that as you like and Triple check and get second opinions :) the “ normal wound “ after stitches were out in question in picture
Experiencia fantástica: Yesterday which was a Sunday my husband and I made the tough decision to have my husband's best friend Sig put to sleep. The vet tech was so patient and understanding. She explained everything in full detail and gave us as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes. Once the vet came in he mirrored his vet tech and did the same thing. I cannot say enough nice things about this clinic. In these situations you should be treated with dignity and respect and we absolutely were. This clinic truly cares. I regrettably don't know vet tech's name but she was sensational and Dr Horein (sp ?) was too. Thanks again Love Oak!!
Experiencia fantástica: They are phenomenal. They truly care. I've never had a vet call me late at night just to let me know my furbaby was doing ok. She's had multiple surgeries due to a horrendous injury and they have been a blessing to us both!
Experiencia fantástica: Our poor Dog had cancer and passed and the vet, Dr. Matt Henderson and the wonderful lady that examined our boy were amazing. It was such an emotional time for us they could not have been more gentle and kind through this process. We will take our next Dog here! They have good hearts and care about their customers.
Experiencia fantástica: Updated in 9/2024; Dr. Cleveland discovered he actually has Cushing’s Disease. I am truly impressed by how quickly he determined this after only having met with Micah and heard his story once. Very grateful. I have used this veterinary clinic for a few years now. Today, I learned my dog has a liver infection/disease. They were extremely kind and helpful: beginning with the front desk, then the techs, and the doctor. Thank you all for your help and dedication to quality service for animals. Mine means the world to me.
Experiencia negativa: I had the worst experience at Live Oak Animal Hospital. Not only did they treat me and my family poorly, but I truly felt we were being discriminated against because we are Hispanic. The staff was incredibly rude and dismissive toward us from the beginning. To make matters worse, when I was unable to pay the full $300 upfront, instead of accepting a copy of my driver's license (which is standard practice at many other places), they forced me to leave my actual driver's license with them to go retrieve the money. This reckless demand put me in the dangerous and illegal situation of having to drive without my license. I have never been treated with such disrespect or made to feel like less of a person at any other animal hospital. This place not only lacks compassion for animals, but it also clearly lacks basic respect and courtesy for their customers. I will never return here, and I would strongly advise others—especially those in minority communities—to avoid this place at all costs. Unbelievable and unacceptable behavior!
Experiencia fantástica: I had to bring my cat for surgery from Clovis NM and they checked us in a timely manner. The cost was what they gave me as an estimate before I arrived. They gave me updates on his status after surgery and called to check on him since coming home. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing good vet care!! Very thorough and caring!!!
Experiencia negativa: My dog may have to be euthanized this morning. On Saturday, I took my dog in just to get blood work done. Live Oak took out a vein catheter they did NOT place, and I begged them not to before they even did it. I even signed AMA paperwork and the girl said it was “against policy” to leave it in and “we will see”. She said she would leave it in if he was going to another vet and I told her he had treatment Monday morning. She brushed it off and included that she took it out at the very end of his visit. This morning at our vet, they are so worried trying to tap a vein and that there may be no way to place a new one and give him treatment due to him having low blood count.
Experiencia fantástica: We took our 12 year old Lab Isabelle in this morning for her final hoorah to the Indiana location. The team came out and got her out of the vehicle and carried all 101 pounds of her inside on a stretcher. They weighed her and immediately put all 5 of us in a room with Isabelle. They were very compassionate and professional. They explained the procedure and gave us all the time we needed. They came back when we were ready for the catheter and told us take as much time as we needed again and just knock on the door when we were ready for the process to begin. We knocked on the door and the tech came in and sat on the floor with us and our baby while my wife held her head in her lap and petted her. When the procedure was done the tech confirmed she was gone and we lost it of course. Again they told us to take as much time as we needed. We told them probably 10 mins and it was actually 30-45 minutes and not once did they interrupt our time with her. Every time they said take as much time as you need THEY MEANT IT! It was not a let’s get your money and on to the next environment. The tech getting on the floor with our baby where she was comfortable and content was AMAZING! They took care of the end of life care all the way through getting her to crematorium. They will also get her back and we will be able to pick up her ashes and paw prints from them all in one shot. For what it is and what it was Live Oak was absolutely AWESOME! I highly recommend taking your baby there when tough decisions need to be made. Thank you to all the techs at Live Oak for your compassion in a REALLY tough time for our family.
Experiencia negativa: Well after today not sure how to feel about live oak at all. Took my dog in for a nail clipping. He always loves going there n going with 1 of the ladies but not today. He was not happy. I also told them he had hurt is toe nail in shag rug. So next thing I hear os my dog screaming not once but 2 separate time's. I am waiting n waiting. I went to get my phone out of car. Has I did the girl had my dog with his mouth with a restraint n he does not have that type of personality. He loves everyone. He was scared n shaking n crying. I told her that was uncalled for to do that to my dog. That she had to have done something mean or be rough bc he will never been done that way again. My daschund is still very shock up n several of his toes they cut way to short n hurts him to walk. So just making dog lover's beware that this store on 98th n slide are rough n uncaring to the point now my dog is very upset n depressed bc of today's nail clipping. They have never Ben this way ever, but this girl is new n does not need to be clipping of handling anyone's animals. Want owner n Dr to beware of the unsafe n roughness n not knowing how to care of animal's during care. Bonnie
Experiencia fantástica: We took our sweet 13-year old lab here yesterday for her very last car ride. We had to bring our 14 year old hound dog in last October for his last visit, too. 2 within a year was tough, but the team at Live Oak made these incredibly difficult days much easier. They were so compassionate and caring both toward us and to our sweet fur babies. Thank you.
Experiencia fantástica: These were the nicest people we've had help us! They listened to every issue we were having and explained in detail what could be wrong and how they were going to treat it. I feel like a lot of vets dismiss us or try to rush us out of there. We found our new vet!
Experiencia negativa: So new patient just looking for a new vet due to acres north is closing. Wasn’t just a basic exam but regardless of the money spent, my son was with in ear shot of one of the staff belittling my puppy for a accident he looks scary but is afraid of others and is just a year old . So to say in an ugly tone that your disgusting was a shock. What are doing in the work if that’s your attitude!!! Then no accountability and a whole bunch of I’m so sorry for your experience. No problem I’ll recommend that if your looking for a new vet look elsewhere
Experiencia fantástica: Live Oak Animal Hospital is the only clinic I trust with my pets! The staff is truly amazing. Dr. Rae is my kiddos preferred vet and I couldn’t brag about her enough. If you’re looking for a clinic whose staff genuinely cares about their patients Live Oak is the place for you! They even have 3 locations now which makes it so much more convenient.
Experiencia fantástica: I’ve brought dogs and cats here for everything from first shots to cremation and they are always super professional, knowledgeable, and timely. As someone who’s had animals for nearly 30 years, Live Oak goes above and beyond. I recommend them to everyone!
Experiencia fantástica: Initially brought my puppy to the small animal emergency clinic bc my baby wasn't doing well after her first round of shots and had lost about 5lbs. The clinic I was going to was going to charge my husband and I $850 just to run tests. After taking her the the emergency clinic they held my baby overnight and transferred her to Live Oak the next morning. While they do require payment up front which can be rather difficult, they took really good care of my pup. They had her hooked up to IV's, ran tests, did xrays the whole nine. They gave me 3 estimates before I paid, one on the low end and one on the high end for symptomatic treatment and a third estimate for a potential surgery. Hubby and I paid the higher end estimate and they kept her for 3 days and 2 nights, they called me 5 times the first day she was there with updates in what they were doing and how she was doing. Beforehand she wasn't eating or drinking, was sleeping all day, wouldn't walk and had blood in her stool, just feeling absolutely horrid. They said she might have had acute gastroenteritis, treated her similarly to parvo and called us this morning to let us know she was good to come home, she'd been eating and drinking, was barking and was ready to go. Gave us some meds and prebiotics, told us to wait a while before we got her her booster shots and recommended bland foods or her puppy food. With how long she was there, her treatment and tests, it was still cheaper than the vet we were originally going to.
Experiencia fantástica: I was there last weekend 6/15/24 with a very sick PET prairie dog. Dr. Schroeder was so sweet, kind and compassionate and very thorough with Kilo and myself. Although Kilo didn't make it (I knew his chances were slim to none), I know Dr. Schroeder did everything she could to find answers while making Kilo as comfortable as possible. I highly recommend her and Live Oak.
Experiencia negativa: I can absolutely see why this place is getting the reviews recently like they are. If I could put no stars. I would. I called ahead of time and informed them that they were recommended to me by a friend and that I had just gotten a puppy that is now 9 weeks old. That she has continuous diarrhea and that it hasn’t stopped. I even informed them that she ate 2 boiled eggs someone dumped in my front yard. That she’s still eating after 2 days of having diarrhea and she’s still drinking. That there’s no blood in her stools. They gave me a recommendation over the phone to use FortiFlora. They even informed me that they had some in stock. I asked them if I could come buy some and they said yes. Even told me the pricing was 2.98. Keep in mind. I called twice and talked to 2 separate people. So I took the time out of my day. To drive 20 minutes from my house to get some for my pup. Just to be told that I have to pay for an exam and my pup has to be a patient there in order for them to help me. They definitely lost a potential customer for the future.
Experiencia negativa: It has taken a lot of composure to post this review. My husband and I are both full time physicians in Lubbock, we moved here in 2020 so I could complete my surgical residency. We have taken pets to many different vets over the decades but no experience was as mismanaged and heartbreaking as this one. Last week,I took my beloved beagle, Copper, to this location and she was placed under the care of Dr. Lindsey Schroeder for decreased PO intake. Still drinking and alert, they ran tests/labs which were within normal limits. They could not explain her lack of appetite but she was being treated for Cushing disease and presumed to be in an Addisonian crisis (she needed more steroids). I elected to keep her there overnight for monitoring, IV fluids, and steroids hoping it might give her the boost she needed to feel better. The next day, Dr Schroeder (who I had to call after my cases at 1300 bc I had no update) told me Copper still wasn’t eating but otherwise fine to go home. My nanny picked her up due to my schedule and brought her home. When Copper returned home at 1730, she was not fine. She could not walk, fell over every time she tried. She was running into the wall, incontinent, and baying in pain. She was completely disoriented and her eyes were blood shot red. I called the vet to tell her and she said “well idk what else to do, I guess you can bring her back in.” I rushed her back only to be told I would have to wait 2.5 hours because I was a walk in!! After announcing my situation to the front desk and entire lobby, they agreed to take Copper back to monitor her. ***2 hours later, they came in the room to tell me her normal labs had changed and the NaCl in her blood was so high they couldn’t register it on labs!*** They tried to blame it on a potential brain tumor but guys, a brain tumor doesn’t cause these issues in a dog with normal labs in less than 12 hours. After much discussion with other vets from my hometown, I believe my dog was given an inappropriate amount of hypertonic saline fluids and it caused her neurological symptoms and lead to the unthinkable. All because no one was watching what they were doing carefully enough. The vet who examined her that evening said the neurologic damage was irreversible. She was completely disoriented and she was blind. My best friend of 12 years, the one who saw me through medical school, residency, marriage and two children, died in my arms that evening after humane euthanasia was recommended. She was in so much distress and so confused, they were concerned she would die overnight and I did not want her to die alone. I don’t recommend this office due to their apathetic staff (who have no idea how to triage patients), nor do I recommend any animal ever be in the care of Dr Schroeder. I felt she was negligent and had absolutely no care or concern for my Copper, only for making a buck. I have forwarded my concerns to the veterinary medical board of Texas. I urge you no matter where you send your fur baby, to be very careful in whom you choose to care for them. I never saw this coming!! And if this post helps one person to be a little more vigilant in their pets vet care then I try to tell myself my dogs death was not in vain.
Experiencia negativa: I've taken my dog here for years- But it was only for shots and general wellness checks, and he was healthy all along. Well, as soon as he got remotely sick, it was like IQs in this vet office plummeted. The first vet I saw told me maybe it was because I had given him pumpkin and chicken and rice over the 2 weeks he had diarrhea to settle it, ignoring the fact those are what they (later) would recommend, and the general consensus on what to do for mild stomach upset. Antibiotics and probiotics, and they sent me home. They fixed his stomach for a couple weeks, and then his issue was back. When I took him to the vet again, they just focused on his having gotten kennel cough, and the diarrhea was ignored, and just... More antibiotics and probiotics sent home with me. Again... They fixed it for a couple weeks, and his issues returned. I went back, as the symptoms got progressively more severe, admittedly after some time because vet visits are expensive, and this issue was adding up. We go. They ask for blood tests. Everything is fine. Guess what? Antibiotics and probiotics, and they tell me it's a food allergy or CANCER. I look his symptoms up. I give him dewormer because his symptoms line up with Giardia. He gets completely better for the next several months. Tell me why, when he had a flare up this weekend- A SEVERE ONE- Their reaction was to 1. Ask me to do another blood test (which again, came out fine), 2. When I told them the issue was Giardia, said 'tick bourne illnesses don't cause these issues', asked about his tick preventative, and wrote 'owner is concerned about tick bourne illnesses' in the paperwork (Giardia is a parasite that's gotten from sniffing or eating infected dog's feces. It does do all these symptoms.) and 3. SEND ME HOME WITH ANTIBIOTICS AND PROBIOTICS. That's 4 times. I'm done having this vet minimize my concerns, apparently have 0 idea about a legitimate disease that I treated him for and found to be the cause, and have this vet drain me for money doing the same thing over and over. I thought MAYBE after telling them the solution they'd finally get it, but apparently this vet will just keep doing the same proven incorrect solution over and over, presumably until your pet's death.
Experiencia negativa: We took our dog there yesterday. Once the vet came out and took a look at him not knowing our dog had distemper. They told us to go wait in the car in which we did. We notice them mopping and disinfecting the area. In which I could understand that not knowing what our dog had was contagious. We sat outside for over an hour before the vet came out there. He didn't exam our dog just told us he has distemper. We could have him put down or try medication. We went with the medications. My point is that you didn't even exam him but you charge us $251.00 for an exam and medication. And the medication he prescribe were not the right price. We were charged a higher price than what they really cost. This clinic is highway robbery. We were treated like a nobody. Because we were Black. Black people have dogs too. And we should get the same treatment as everybody else. I will not recommend this clinic to anyone!!!!
Experiencia negativa: This isn’t our normal vet, but we had to come here on a Saturday after we realized one morning that a bouquet that had been bought for us had mini lilies in it and it looked like our cat had eaten a petal directly off the lily. Knowing the danger of this, we immediately brought our cat to the vet here. The vet techs were great, but the actual veterinarian was condescending, rude, and lectured us everytime she came in even after we explained that we knew how dangerous they were, which is why we immediately brought her in even without symptoms. We were clearly very worried about our cats health and knowledgeable about cat care and we were treated very coldly in terms of bedside manner. We were also given conflicting answers when her blood panel came back normal. We were told we could bring her home because everything looked normal but just needed to monitor for symptoms, and when we asked what symptoms to look out for, we were given conflicting information and timelines, and the vet became passive aggressive again. When my partner finally bluntly asked “If it was your cat what would you do,” we got a straight answer to keep her there overnight for monitoring and fluids, which we did. This is not my first interaction with vets at this location, but this will hopefully be my last. A few years ago we had to put down my childhood cat at this location and they did so without sedating him first, so it was a very traumatizing experience to witness. I only learned after the fact that it is more standard to sedate the animal before administering the euthanasia and became angry over how the vets at this location gave myself, my family, and my childhood pet such a hard end of life experience. The bedside manner here is horrific, they will push you in and out as fast as possible. For great cat care, Dr. Fine at Live Oak South is the much, much better option. Treat this place as your last resort as I have now.
Experiencia negativa: I took my cat in twice and they missed his diabetes. Both times diagnosing as a UTI which are not common in cats. The second time, we even saw the owner who didn’t even bother to put his hands on my cat to examine him but just talked down to me the entire time. By the time, we finally got a right diagnosis at another vet clinic, my cat already had kidney and pancreatic damage due to the long misdiagnosis. Never again! Also, I have been going here for a long time before this incident and every single appointment - not walk-in- was an hour late leading me to have to cancel business calls. Effecting MY own business. Totally disrespectful. Don’t do this to yourself. I used this clinic for geographic convenience and because everyone said they were great. There are so many better clinics in Lubbock. Go to them!!!!
Experiencia fantástica: This is not my normal vet, but I use when mine is closed. I had to take my doxi girl in for a suture fix yesterday and the entire team was amazing. They understood she was dealing with trauma from the emergency clinic Wednesday morning which caused her some separation anxiety. They made sure not to kennel her, gave the sedation while I was holding her so she never knew she wasn’t with me. Redid the entire suture and in a better way. Had compassion and made us both feel better about the unforeseen situation we were in. Dr Rubenthaler is the sweetest and I’ll recommend her for any dachshund baby.
Experiencia positiva: The timing was just a little bit longer than we expected. The service will go was amazing are baby boy felt so safe with the vet and the assistant. Hannah was very good at communication and making sure that he was happy
Experiencia negativa: WORST vet clinic in Lubbock. Our cat has a blockage, and the expense was extremely high, so unfortunately, we were coerced into surrendering our cat. He's my emotional support cat. I'm already suffering from severe depression, and this does NOT help at all!!! And I'm very suicidal. They do NOT care about any of that. They only care about money. We are extremely heartbroken to have had to surrender our sweet cat and this is a major nightmare for us!!!! We've already been going through a huge nightmare with our former family, all the family that my son and I have are our 2 cats. And we just had surrender one of them. We are never going back to Live Oak!!!! I've posted this story on many pages on Facebook and people are making donations to cover the cost of my cat's vet bill to try to help me get him back. They're lying to people, saying that I signed something when I surrendered him. I did NOT sign anything! They're lying. These people are extremely evil!!!! My cat belongs with us, no matter what. He's literally a scaredy cat. When a Fed Ex or UPS truck stops outside near our home to deliver a package to a neighbor, he gets scared and hides under my bed. When we are able to get him out from under our bed to try to reassure him that he's safe and that no one is going to hurt him, his entire body is shaking. The girl that works at Live Oak is going to take him home with her, basically stealing him from us. She has dogs. Lucky is an indoor only cat and he's never seen a dog. That will seriously traumatize him tremendously. On Sunday, I told the vet technician who coerced us into surrendering him that I'm extremely suicidal and that wasn't helping. He did not care at all. Now my severe depression is a lot worse, and my suicidal thoughts have increased tremendously. Again, they do not care at all. You’d think that vets would understand how extremely important pets are to their owners and how they’re irreplaceable. Especially since our cat is an emotional support cat. But no, Live Oak does NOT care, and they’re obsessed with lying about everything to prevent us from getting our cat back. They are EVIL people!!!!! They’re compulsive liars and they’re obsessed with stealing our cat and refusing to allow us to get him back. No one EVER wants to surrender their pet!!! Even when they can’t afford an outrageous vet bill. And Live Oak completely refusing to work with us to pay the vet bill is insane!! I've filed a police report, and I also filed a report with BBB. The lies in their reply are unbelievable!!! Definitely proves how desperate they are to keep our cat that they stole from us and how they're compulsive liars. They even gave us the wrong estimation. It was for another pet and another owner. But they claimed the costs were the same. They messed that up, they can easily mess up other stuff!!!
Experiencia fantástica: Had an emergency with one of our Giant Schnauzers. The staff were phenomenal, even during our grief and loss of our fur baby. Everyone showed compassion and grace. They even sent a follow-up card for condolences. Would definitely recommend this facility. Thank you for all of your time during that event.
Experiencia positiva: Had 2 appointments scheduled for the same day and when i got there i told her my name and appointment time, after waiting for a hour and 30 mins i go back up and ask about how much longer since all walk ins were being seen before me & the lady now informs me she couldn’t find my appointment and set me up as a walk in, even though i have both email confirmations for the appointment. When i went to show her the email confirmation she then gets an attitude with me as if im in the wrong for being confused on how she couldn’t find my appointment.
Experiencia negativa: Does NOT actually close at 8pm. My older parents spoke to them on the phone around 7pm trying to bring their very sick dog in to be put down after he deteriorated quickly, which was already hard enough, and once they got there Live Oak staff turned them away after telling them on the phone that they could still bring their dog in as long as it was before 7:45pm, they got there at 7:20pm. Their dog is very large and the whole process of even getting him there wasn’t easy. This is not the first awful story I have heard about Live Oak and their staff. Please take your business elsewhere.
Experiencia fantástica: I'm going to write my review before I know the outcome. In the morning my dawg...my best friend Bud, has a life or death surgery. I was referred to Live Oak Animal Hospital by a vet in Andrews, Texas. I brought my dog here as fast as I could. I met the staff, and the doctor... I feel totally confident that they will do their best to help save my best friends life. God speed Live Oak.
Experiencia negativa: Please do your research before committing to any surgical procedures, even if they are being “recommended”! I took my yorkie to Live Oak for years, but unfortunately recently had a very negative experience there. My yorkie was diagnosed with luxating patella and Live Oak doctors recommended TPLO surgery. I was never explained what this surgery or post-op recovery entailed and did most of the research myself. I ended up scheduling the TPLO surgery with Dr. Luckett who I was told was great. Two weeks after surgery my pet had a pin sticking out and had to go to the emergency vet. Dr. Luckett was very upset when I brought my pet back in. He has no bedside manners, and showed no kindness or empathy. His exact words when this happened were “I’ve done my part, you need to do yours.” Because of this, my pet had to undergo a second TPLO surgery. Two weeks after the second surgery, my pet broke his leg while on a leash walk. Again, Dr. Luckett was unkind and had the audacity to ask if he had been kicked or stepped on. He recommended ANOTHER surgery. I declined. Regardless of how smart this doctor may be, the trust, faith and confidence I had in him were completely gone. I called to speak to an office manager at Live Oak about my experience and was told they were at lunch. To this day, I have yet to hear back from anyone there. He was discharged with a broken leg that they splinted. I was told to come back for weekly splint changes. I never took him back for splint changes at Live Oak, I decided to take him somewhere else (AMC - which has been outstanding). To this day, Live Oak has yet to call back and check on his weekly splints that they ordered. Nor to even ask about how he is doing status post two botched surgeries there. Weeks later, my dog had to have his leg amputated because of all these complications. Nevertheless he is thriving! Just wanted to create some awareness for those who may be looking to have a surgery there. I would hate for this to happen to someone else. Please get a second opinion, do your research, and trust your gut!
Experiencia fantástica: Took our little boy Pepper-minpin- into Live Oak. One of my best experiences at a vet ever. The Vet was so sweet and understanding and took the time to tell us what was going on but unlike most, he didn’t try to get us to spend unnecessary money. He said time our little boy was old and that it was not necessary to spend more money on tests. He was spot on with his knowledge. A couple of weeks and our little boy is much better.
