Experiencia negativa: I used to recommend Dr Tara Farrell to everyone I had a cat with mega colon who needed deobstipation after his negligent vet left poop in him after an enema, then refused to help me with the surgery. I was a mess trying to get someone to help him before he died. Tara agreed on very short notice and I thought it meant she really cared. When I came to see her yesterday for a different cat with a potential obstruction, I paid for X-rays and emergency exam. Both Tara and the vet tech were ICE COLD, no real empathy or care for my animal in sight.. vet tech seem scared to handle my cat, who did not act aggressive the entire time we were there. If you’re scared of animals you have the wrong job, hun. I got told that they could not tell if my cat was obstructed, looking at the xray, she could be or could not be. I could spend another 600 dollars the next day for more potentially inconclusive photos Left feeling worse than when I came in Can’t believe it ..and it’s not due to the X-rays .. I know they’re difficult to work with and not conclusive..it was the demeanor of both of these people.. and just the practice Maybe if you cannot tell if the intestine is scrunched due to a string or if it was moving for the photo, take another one on house… but you would have to be a real vet that loves animals dearly to do those kinds of gestures. They sure line their pockets though. I do not expect anything free but I do expect empathy. I will never come here or recommend this place again.

Experiencia negativa: Absolutely horrible experience with Civano Animal Hospital. Our Akita woke up on the morning of the 8th with severe dizziness, balance problems, inability to walk, and facial droop. We called Civano ahead of time and were told to come in at 2:00. When we arrived, we were placed in a room and waited 20–25 minutes before anyone came in, not even a tech. When the tech finally arrived (blonde hair, sleeve tattoos and septum piercing), there was no sense of urgency or compassion for our dog, who was clearly in critical condition. The tech asked only about vaccines and aggression, with no pertinent medical questions and no empathy. We were then immediately given a price sheet for emergency exams, lab work, and sedation “in case she’s aggressive,” before any doctor had even examined our dog. When we asked why a veterinarian couldn’t first examine her and help us make a plan, the tech seemed confused. Being pushed toward diagnostics and costs before anyone even looked at our dying dog felt completely wrong and added to an already devastating situation. We left and went to Valley Animal Hospital, calling ahead. They brought us in immediately. The vet tech and Dr. Canfield were professional, compassionate, and clearly cared about our dog and our family. Our dog was examined right away. We were offered honest, realistic options with empathy and respect. At Valley, pricing was not discussed until after a plan was formed. No diagnostics were needed, what our dog needed was comfort care. Civano offered none of that, but did contribute to additional stress for both us and our dog in her final moments. I am deeply disappointed in the lack of compassion and professionalism we experienced. I would not ever recommend Civano Animal Hospital based on this experience.

Experiencia fantástica: Heartfelt thanks to Dr Juhl at Civano, her techs and the reception staff for all they did to care for my dog who was suffering from GI issues. Dr. Juhl spent the time to explain my dog's condition and the treatment options. She is passionate about providing the best care possible while also being realistic by informing you of all the risks and likely outcomes for the treatment options. Experiencia fantástica: The service I recieved here was incredible. I came in after my little buddy ate a few grapes off my lunch pail and I probably appeared quite distressed. After laying out a few options for me, they took in my pug and treated him quickly and kindly. The price feels fair to the degree of care recieved.

Experiencia fantástica: Janine, Cassandra, and Dr. Caroline were all amazing! My lab has a fear of vets and they made her ER visit nothing short of amazing. She even went up to Cassandra and Dr. Caroline when they gave her treats. I will definitely be coming back for primary care establishment. Experiencia fantástica: Caring and knowledgeable staff! I couldn’t be more impressed. My dog was having a healthcare crisis and I called when enroute….they were so efficient and had a wonderful team member there at the door to whisk our dog in to be treated. The front desk staff was very helpful and kind. The technicians were/ are very knowledgeable and answered our questions and kindly supported us for a visit to see our dog in the ICU…showing compassion to our furry family member (and our family too) and knowledge about the condition. The doctor (Dr Farrell) was amazing (along with all the other drs/staff that supported him as well)She shared a detailed summary of her findings and plan of action. She also was so kind to provide additional status updates on progress/ plan when we checked on the dog and she called us to update along the way too(and the night time dr also was great to answer our questions and share plan too)So much kindness , support, compassion , and expertise present from what I could tell at the moment. Still recovering but wanted to take a moment to share this experience and thank the entire team! I also want to share a special thanks to the Dr Farrell, icu technician Kelly (and all the icu team). Dr Farrell has been amazing and answers all of our questions and thanks to God and her skill our furry friend is doing oh so much better! Kelly has also been amazing, along with the entire team. Really appreciate the great communication. And also the staff last night who so kindly provided us with a blanket and room to have some quiet time with our furry friend—it was so thoughtful and was healing for us all (pups and humans alike). Experiencia fantástica: Civano Animal Hospital is absolutely exceptional, and we truly credit them with keeping our 15-year-old dog and our male cat with chronic urinary blockage issues here with us. We cannot say enough good things about Dr. Lindsay Juhl and the entire Civano team. Dr. Juhl is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and thorough, and she consistently goes above and beyond for her patients. The Civano staff is equally outstanding; empathetic, patient, and attentive, and they make you feel like more than just a client by remembering both you and your pets by name. Dr. Juhl quite literally saved both Brisket and Stirrup when other veterinary clinics had no clear course of treatment. Brisket has chronic kidney and liver disease and has suffered a stroke, yet Dr. Juhl has managed her care with exceptional skill and compassion. Stirrup has complex, ongoing medical needs, and her dedication, persistence, and expertise have made all the difference in his longevity. She takes the time to explain every option, listens carefully, and makes thoughtful, well-informed decisions that are always in the animal’s best interest. She is also consistently up to date on the latest veterinary research and ready to apply it when appropriate. We also trust Civano with our livestock guardian dogs. Our Great Pyrenees, Honey, required surgical removal of avulsed front teeth, which was handled with excellent care. Our Anatolian Shepherd, Mezcal, has a challenging case of Valley Fever affecting his hip bone, and thanks to Dr. Juhl’s management, he is comfortable, functional, and still able to work. We have also had wonderful experiences with Dr. Steinke and Dr. Solis; you truly can’t go wrong with anyone on the Civano team. The entire practice is kind, supportive, and professional, making every visit as smooth as possible. We trust Dr. Juhl completely and hold her in the highest regard. If you are looking for a veterinary clinic that genuinely cares and delivers outstanding, lifesaving care, Civano Animal Hospital is the place to go.

Experiencia negativa: This practice needs to be much clearer about its fees. Being told the exam would cost $80 and then leaving with a bill close to $350 is a significant difference. It should be clearly explained upfront that the $80 fee only covers the veterinarian’s physical examination and does not include any additional services, tests, or treatments. That way, clients are not shocked by extra charges afterward. While I understand that medications are separate, the scope of the exam fee needs to be communicated more clearly before any additional procedures are performed!!!!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Hamilton and staff were so kind. We had to put our sweet 16 year old cat to sleep following a sharp decline with his leukemia diagnosis. Dr. Hamilton was informative, and was very including of each member of the family in the room. She made sure each of us understood what was going on. Experiencia negativa: The appointment with Civano for my dog on 12/20/25 was upsetting. The doctor appeared to lack knowledge, care or both for this situation. It is sad that I have to write this poor review because this is the same place that saved the life of this very same dog a couple years ago and the service we received on Saturday was not the same and very disturbing. We had called Civano prior to going so they knew we were coming for an emergency appointment. The support staff was good getting my dog into the clinic. After a brief discussion with the assistant about how my dog could not stand or walk they wheeled him to the back for vitals. When they returned with the estimate (blood draw, x-ray etc) we accepted. Shortly after the doctor and assistant opened the door holding up my dog by the harness, slid him across the bare floor where he collapsed flat to the floor. They proceeded to tell us that vidals were good and that a pain medicine prescription will help him get up after it takes affect. My wife and I were in shock the way they forced him into the room by holding him up like he was standing. (could not believe it) I requested the stretcher and assistance to get him back to the car. When I returned home we built a ramp (big dog) so we could slide him out of the car & into the house and start him on the medication. For 9 hours he only tried to move but could not. About 3 am he started coughing up white mucus about every 10 min. I called Civano to discuss with someone about my dogs condition, the only info that was relayed to me by the front desk from a doctor, (I assume) that further testing and treatment is probably going to be real expensive. At 4 am we went to another VCA clinic where they were very nice (even short staffed) They brought out the stretcher, put us in a room, moved my dog onto a nice blanket on the floor and took vitals right there (asap) They told us a Doctor would be in soon but needed to get records from Civano. Shortly later the Doctor entered the room, she had reviewed the information but looking at my dog and the fact that his legs were mostly paralyzed, medication for pain is not the answer, probably with even more testing and considering his current condition he was suffering. Needless to say after learning the real possible issues my best friend was put to rest.

Experiencia negativa: I didn't receive any help or advice after taking my dog in that was unable to walk or stand. He was taken in with a stretcher, put us in a room, a few minutes later, they pushed my dog in dragging and we were told he would be looked at later, not even a blanket or nothing, just pushed in on the cold floor knowing he couldn't move. No advice gave us pain pills put my dog in a stretcher again and put him in my car and send us off. Paid a lot of money for this. Took him to another emergency hospital where they were very helpful caring and gave us blankets to lay him on and explained the situation on what was wrong with him...HE DIED AT 7 A.M.

Experiencia fantástica: Very honest and professional. My Shar Pei had an injury from trying to jump into a vehicle. Customer service was very considerate and attentive. Their pricing was fair and they did not “run up the estimate”. My dog was at ease in their facility. Opted for bloodwork because of her age and received the lab results in 20 minutes. Experiencia negativa: I’m writing this review to share our experience with this animal hospital in hopes that it helps other pet owners make informed decisions. We brought our dog in after he showed clear signs of Parvo, and from the very beginning, we felt that the seriousness of his condition was underestimated. Throughout the entire process, we never felt that we received the attention, communication, or urgency that a situation like Parvo requires. We repeatedly felt left in the dark, and it often seemed like we had to push for updates or clarity about his condition. Instead of being realistic with us about what to expect, the information we received felt vague and, at times, dismissive. What was especially upsetting was the sense that our dog’s needs were not being prioritized. As worried pet owners, we hoped for guidance, transparency, and a clear, proactive plan of care. Unfortunately, we often felt that our concerns weren’t fully heard, and that the approach to treatment didn’t match the seriousness of what he was going through. Additionally, the financial aspect was frustrating. While we understand that emergency veterinary care can be expensive, we left feeling as though the costs were presented without enough explanation or honest conversation about the likely outcomes. It felt transactional at a time when we desperately needed compassion and clarity. This experience was incredibly difficult for us, and sharing it is not about placing blame, but about raising awareness. When your pet is critically ill, you need a medical team that communicates openly, treats the situation with seriousness, and makes you feel supported through every step. Unfortunately, that wasn’t our experience here. I hope this review encourages the hospital to improve communication and attentiveness, and helps other pet owners know what questions to ask before committing to care.
Experiencia fantástica: The staff at CVA Civano provided excellent care for my dog following a rattlesnake bite. Everyone we encountered was kind, comforting, and professional. They took great care of my pup and provided an itemized bill. I will definitely return in the future.

Experiencia negativa: Do not go here, they are not really a part of the VCA organization, and the entire place is set up with misleading information designed to confuse owners. We called VCA Broadway first to try get an emergency consultation and they told us the wait time and the fee of $189, we then called VCA Civano and got an appointment and I confirmed with them the Emergency consultation was $189. I then saw on their website there was a VCA Care Plan that for $55 covered a lot of things including emergency visits. Turns out this was all too good to be true. The next day my husband brought our dog to VCA Civano, checked in told them the story that we were told the fee and that we got the care plan etc. During the visit my husband was told to sign paperwork allowing for care but what was not explained was the cost of the service was $900 and that they don’t accept the VCA Care Plan. This was only advised at the end of the visit, and they were expecting my husband to pay $800. A few things to highlight, husband is a disabled US Vet, and our dog is a service dog, and they completely took advantage of a disabled veteran. He is a veteran whose only income is VA Disability, and I am a Federal Employee who had at that point missed out on paychecks and money was tight. Had the staff explained the costs and asked why he kept saying “we have the care plan” this situation would have never happened. The facts are despite being listed as a VCA Hospital, having VCA logos on their paperwork, website and card machines they are a rogue entity that do not follow the same rules as the rest of the VCA hospitals. A technician had my husband sign paperwork without explaining that he was authorizing $800+ in charges. He believed the costs were covered by the VCA Care Plan, which VCA’s own website advertises. Only after all services were performed did staff tell him, “We don’t take the VCA Care Plan.” Their card machines, paperwork, and signage all say VCA, yet they claimed they are only “associated” with VCA and are “new to the program,” despite being part of VCA for over a year. There was clear misrepresentation, zero communication, and they took advantage of a vulnerable veteran in a moment of stress. This clinic needs to improve its transparency and honesty. We will be contacting the Arizona Attorney General and the Veterinary Medical Examining Board.

The first phone call, scheduling, intake (they carried him inside for me!) veterinary assistant was very informative. The veterinarian was professional informative and did excellent work (surgery). Experiencia fantástica: My schnauzers were attacked by coyotes in my backyard. They killed my old dog and the two girls were badly wounded. I called my vet but they couldn't handle the trauma, so they recommended Civano for treatment. One dog suffered life threatening injuries, broken ribs, punctured lung, numerous bite wounds and was in ICU for 36 hours on oxygen. When they stabilized her, she underwent surgery to repair the damage. The other was in the vet for about 12 hours and had surgery to repair her wounds but came home that night. From the time I called in, came to the hospital and my girls were taken in for stabilization and treatment, everyone was so very kind and compassionate. I waited while they got them stabilized. Dr Solis came in to talk to me and let me know what would be done. Every tech, staff member and doctor explained the process in great detail. I was given an approximate estimate. Emergency clinics are very expensive and I am so grateful that they were able to save my girls. This happened early Saturday morning. When I left to go home, I was assured that I would be kept apprised of their situation. I received several progress reports and was able to take one home late Saturday night. The other was in hospital until Sunday night. I was in contact with the staff every few hours. This was a nightmare that I hope no-one should every experience and with the kindness and compassion we were shown by all involved, I was able to "hold it together" as best I could. Graci came home late Sunday night and actually walked out of the clinic. She has been recovering nicely at home. Willow is doing well and we took her in on Wednesday for a drain removal. Things are healing for both dogs. Today Graci gets a bandage change as she had a chest tube in while in hospital, but it was removed when her oxygen levels returned to normal. I have volunteered at animal shelters, in the veterinary ward and at a low cost spay, neuter, surgical center for many years. I al have worked in rescue for almost 20 years, so I have some knowledge about veterinary medicine. If I hadn't had this knowledge, I'm not sure I could have handled the situation well. I understand the cost of emergency veterinary medicine and treatment. The veterinary world doesn't do this for the money but because they care. I had several veterinary doctor and tech friends in Texas. I moved back to Arizona last December. Charges were more than original expected, but because of Graci's status, the treatment was necessary. It's so sad that people want to accuse vets of being greedy and in it for the money. That's all I will say on that subject. I am also grateful that I had the means to pay for this treatment. I am beyond devastated about this tragic event, I can't imagine having to euthanize my fur babies because I couldn't pay for their care.

Experiencia fantástica: I am totally pleased with this new hospital. Besides being closest to us and being open 24 hours, the whole staff is great and the doctors are some of the very best. It seems that since the pandemic started all of the veterinarians in town became overloaded with patients and getting appointments became harder. But so far, this hospital has managed to take care of our needs either by phone or in person. The whole staff seems knowledgeable and empathetic to our dogs needs. We will definitely continue to go there. UPDATE: I have continued to use Civano Animal Hospital for my dogs since my initial post years ago and can confidently recommend them. All of the doctors are some of the best in Tucson and the assistants are very professional. The whole front staff seems very knowledgeable and patient with their customers. I always feel we're in good hands. I take my dogs there for routine checkups and urgent care. Very nice facility, easy parking, nice lawn for dogs to potty. Experiencia negativa: IF YOU VALUE YOUR PETS, PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS REVIEW!! If I could give zero stars, I would. This clinic failed my dog Andy in the most devastating way imaginable — and now he is permanently blind because of their negligence. On June 11, 2025, I brought Andy in after he suddenly became disoriented and blind. He was completely normal the night before. At around 6 a.m., he walked into our car, and I realized something was wrong. I rushed him straight to VCA Civano — within just hours of the vision loss starting. Their own notes confirm: “Presenting complaint: disoriented and blind.” “Eyes: Blood present in anterior chamber… blindness present OU (both eyes).” And you know what they did with that information? Nothing. They confirmed he was blind. They saw blood in both eyes. And they still didn’t refer us to an ophthalmologist. Didn’t treat for glaucoma. Didn’t even warn me that this could be irreversible if we didn’t act fast. I found that out later, from a specialist — a board-certified ophthalmologist — who told me flat out: “Glaucoma-related blindness is often permanent if not treated in the first 24 hours. You were still within that window.” So let’s be clear: They had the window. They had the evidence. They just didn’t care. So how can someone who holds a license to treat helpless animals justify such a deep lapse in judgement? With CE? With some inflection and spiritual awakening? No. You don’t get to call permanent, preventable blindness a small miss. This wasn’t forgetting a nail trim. This was a clear, obvious emergency. In fact, I know for a fact that even veterinarians trained in developing countries — with half the equipment and fewer specialists — are taught that sudden vision loss with hyphema is an emergency requiring immediate action. So what’s the excuse here? This is a corporate-run facility with all the tech, all the support, and still no one thought Andy deserved urgent care? Instead, they focused entirely on his lymphoma diagnosis (which yes, is serious), gave him some prednisone, and sent him home. Not one word about the eyes. Not one referral. Not one honest moment of, “We might be able to save his vision if we act fast.” Now Andy’s world is dark forever. And that is entirely on them. I’ve filed a formal complaint with the Arizona Veterinary Medical Examining Board. A civil claim is underway. And I am encouraging every single pet owner in Tucson to avoid this clinic if you value timely, compassionate, and competent care. Do not let these people near your animals in an emergency. They failed Andy. They failed me. And they should never be allowed to dismiss an animal’s suffering like this again.

Experiencia fantástica: a friend recommended them, and I will forever be grateful. my 4 y/o dog, my girl, my whole heart- my Scarlet Rose is dealing with valley fever, and the x-ray revealed she'd swallowed three rocks at some point. with amazing care and precision Dr Juhl and Tiffany were able to extract the rocks via endoscopy. Dr Steinke was the first to greet us the week prior and did the exam to find the rocks and diagnose the valley fever-she entered the room and sat right on the floor and used her calming voice to calm my terrified girl (and me). she also called me the next day to check on Scarlet, and I am sorry I did not get the name of the vet tech who assisted her that day who was also great. the front office staff are busy but professional and efficient- this is a drive for me but worth it, grateful for every interaction I've had-they text, they call, they care, and they're there 24/7. so appreciative.

Experiencia negativa: I usually like it here. However, I brought in my kitten with blatant and obvious signs of having eaten something at least toxic, to have staff not triage him for over an hour. Then, after we waited even longer, to tell us the bill could be as high as $1000 and we were “welcome to go somewhere less expensive, if they have space”.. I knew my cat needed an emergency visit at 5:30 this morning. It is now almost 8 and I feel like this is extremely intentioned. I didn’t even ask about the cost, I just want my kitten to be ok and y’all are making such a parade about the cost of it that I’m suspicious when I wasn’t previously. Disgusting behavior. Edit: now they are pressuring bloodwork because they suspect an infection which is highly unlikely for a cat that was way more than fine at literally 11pm last night. I previously consented to everything except unnecessary blood work. Sudden onset symptoms but y’all want to take every single test like he could have bronchitis. Bro was running and scaling the walls with his best friend last night (who also has no symptoms).

Experiencia fantástica: I honestly feel that if we hadn’t taken our boy Ranger to Civano when we did, he wouldn’t be here today. He was a very sick boy when he arrived with a very high fever. They took great care of him and got his fever to break overnight, and were great on giving us updates. Leaving him overnight was tough for us to do as he was a senior rescue and we only rescued him a year ago. While costs prohibited us having him stay an additional night as recommended, they understood and provided us the ample meds for us to treat him at home. While we thought we may very well be bringing him home to spend his final hours with us, that wasn’t gods plan. It took a little bit, but he’s now back to his normal self. While Civano is an hour drive for us, I can’t see taking our pups anywhere else, they were very caring, and compassionate. The old saying, you get what you pay for … definitely recommend!

They were all very amazing and sweet Dr. Farrell went through great detail about what was going on with my pug gave me the estimate for what she would recommend and when I told her I couldn't afford it she gave me a different option said here will give pain meds for now see if that helps and even suggested a low cost clinic I could go to for the surgery he needs. They didn't pressure me to do the surgery or make me feel ashamed that I couldn't afford the surgery just said this is what we recommend but if you can't afford it we have this option as well and here are some resources for low cost places.

I was given several and took the Dr’s suggestions for the starting point and work our way from there. Experiencia negativa: I had a very disappointing experience at this veterinary hospital. It is, by far, the worst place I’ve ever taken my Cavalier. The staff was extremely disrespectful and lacked professionalism throughout our visit. Tragically, my dog contracted parvovirus after being treated here. Experiencia positiva: I scheduled a tech appointment for a heartworm test and prescription renewal. Despite having utilized chewy.com for a cheaper cost than their in office dispensary(IOD) last year, the tech automatically acted as if Id get it through the office until I inquired and then she acknowledged it was cheaper elsewhere. Then she said the blood draw and lab test would be $94. I could see the invoice she had already printed and due to my medical background could tell it was a more comprehensive panel. After I asked if I could just get the heartworm test, which she said she had never been asked that before/done rhat and needed to inquire, she came back and said it would be $31. So while it may be policy, maybe she was new, or their guideline to auto prescribe to their IOD or order comprehensive/wider panels...for the non-cost conscious, non-inquisitive, or ignorant/trusting person...you may have other options or be paying more than what you need. I would've preferred shared decision making, transparency, explaining the benefits/risks of options/recommendation(even if a tech visit), and communication why they are/arent following evidence based vet medicine/guidelines. This and past similar experience have not increased my trust that they have my pet and myself/owners best interest in mind but rather profit. Now maybe the larger panel/IOD is "in the interest of the pet/owner" but again the lack of communication/explanation led me to believe otherwise. Otherwise, they were on time(took me 10min early), friendly, respectful, responsive, accomodating, and there were no complications/issues.

Experiencia fantástica: Our 14 yr old Catahoula was charged by a herb of javelins with babies. She was torn up badly. I called Civano at 7:30 am and brought her to them by 8:00 am. They were waiting with a gurney for her. They had a large wound and many others to be repaired and stitched up. Came home the next day with 4 tubes, many stitched wounds and some open wounds. Our Beamer is going to make it, only because of Civano's vets and staff. Thank you for saving her.

Experiencia fantástica: A rattlesnake bit our dog on the snout. Our regular vet didn’t have the facilities for overnight stays so we tried Civano. One phone call and with the word snakebite, it was clear that it was all hands on deck. Showed up at the hospital and of course there was no wait. The staff was great and once he was being attended to, we took care of the paperwork and finances. They are very upfront about costs (snakebites aren’t cheap to deal with) and took time to make sure I understood everything that was going on. Yes, our dog would spend the night. I was allowed a quick visit to see him in his “bed” before I left. I realized it wasn’t good to stay too long as it made him want to leave with me. We received two nice calls from the staff to give us updates, one on the evening and one in the morning. He was discharged the next day. It was clear all the staff are caring and our whole our dog was clearly ready to go home, it wasn’t so much that he wanted to leave the hospital but just wanted to be with his family. Civano is now my first choice for any emergencies that our regular vet can’t handle.

My Yorkie has a veterinarian in Sahuarita, but I am going to change his care over to Civano. They have reasonable prices and lower costs than most places. Again, their care is exceptional and they are always willing to go out of their way to help and most importantly, their diagnoses are on point. Experiencia negativa: They say they are open 24 hours emergency hospital. Called at 6am for a emergency with my dog they told me NO doctor in wont be in for a few hours and they will see the scheduled appointments first then get to my emergency probably later the afternoon. What 24 emergency hospital doesn't have vets in to see animals especially when it an emergency. Obviously will never use this Vet hospital. I will go where they actually care about your animal and their emergency and have vets in during operating hours.

Experiencia fantástica: We’ve been going here for years now! They performed two major surgeries on my dog. We now go here for general follow ups. We have a pitbull and German mix. So they can be discriminated against. But not here. They respect that dogs need different types of support. They take us back to a room right away. Dr. O is amazing. She’s passion and so loving to our dogs. She explains why she suggests we get certain tests done and the whys behind them. There is no pressure here. The major thing here is they love animals and that’s so important if you’re going to run an animal clinic. I really do appreciate the team here!

Experiencia positiva: Dr Roth is amazing!!! Will not take my Hedgehog’s or Chinchilla’s to any other vet. She is very knowledgeable with exotic animals. She listens to you. She allows you to be present during exams and procedures. She does not pressure you into costly procedures. She tells you let’s do this first and then we go from there. She allows me to assist with my prickly babies so we don’t always have to sedate them. Civano always has medication and supplements available at a reasonable cost. Spike and Huffington love their last visit with Dr Roth.

After thorough diagnostics,including labs and imaging, the vet thoroughly explained the differential diagnosis between valley fever and osteosarcoma and our decision paths as we move forward...we were sad when we left...but well informed and taken care of by a professional and caring team! Experiencia fantástica: We ended up at Civano Emergency Center when our puppy ran out our door unexpectedly and was struck by a vehicle. Our story does not have a happy ending but everyone there was so wonderful and kind and did all that they could. And I will not forget that anytime soon.

Experiencia fantástica: We called the three animal hospitals on the east side after an emergency with our dog. Two of the hospitals we called were beyond rude and one refused to give us a wait time or quote for services. The person we spoke with at Civano (kicking myself for not getting her name, but she was at the checkout desk Friday night) was kind and immediately gave us a price as well as wait times. We ended up heading in earlier just in case they could see us and and they did. We ended up checking out after xrays and a visit with the vet before our scheduled appointment time - AND our price was less than the quote we received. We had heard here and there that Civano was super expensive, but that wasn't the case for us at all. We hope we don't need an emergency vet again, but if we do we'll definitely head back to Civano.

Experiencia fantástica: Loved Civano vet ER. They were kind, patient and helpful from start to tinish . When we arrived, they quickly put us in a room and got Loki's history. Loki is very reactive with vets, but they assured me they could deal with him, which I doubted. No vet has been able to deal with him, even when he's drugged. Civano worked thru ways to calm him without anesthitizing him and they figured it out. They just threw a blanket over him and he froze. They won my trust and admiration with that. Loki had eaten some raisins. We were in and out with several treatments to reduce possible toxicity, in about 2 1/2 hours. I don't live in the area but think maybe I should move here so we can have a vet that can actually figure out how to deal with my Tasmanian devil!

Experiencia fantástica: It was a very good visit for my Blue and Gold Macaw Poppie. I am a returning customer. Very friendly and professional. Dr Jewels is wonderful and Geovanne her assistant is wonderful too! Poppie was better today with her beak trim but a handful with her feet trim. Now she is home and happy. The staff at the front desk are always friendly.

Experiencia fantástica: This hospital is fantastic! We were shocked to find out that our 8 year old dog needed to have his spleen removed. The immediate care and attention was amazing. We received phone calls on a daily basis with updates on his condition and how he was doing. We were also able to visit him daily in the ER despite their busy schedule. Experiencia positiva: I contacted Civano Emergency Animal Hospital after my regular vet was closed. My Doberman was bitten by an unknown source and had tremendous facial swelling. The staff who answered the phone and the doctor, Dr Diss, who was there that night went above and beyond. I sent photos to them and thinking it might be a rattlesnake bite I took her in. The blood smear was negative but she was in need of epinephrine and was observed while I waited. I was sent home with instructions. The bill was very reasonable. The next day the swelling increased and I needed to call Civano again. I don't feel that the doctor that was in that day was as good as in the messages I received regarding what to do via the staff. I chose not to bring her in. I did call to talk with the hospital manager and she was very receptive and I would go there again but I would hope to get Dr Diss.

The wait wasn’t long and Devon, the tech, explained everything, gave us the quoted price and off my little girl went. The procedure was quick and in no time at all we were on our way home. Experiencia fantástica: Our pup has had to go to the ER a couple of times now for severe GI distress and the staff have been wonderful. They care so much for their patients and have done everything the could to make the process manageable. We've had a few follow ups now for bloodwork to get to the bottom of the issues and he loves them and goes to the back with tail wagging. I cannot recommend the staff at Civano enough.

Experiencia negativa: After spending and always optimistic and thousands of dollars for all five dogs they want me to prepay which I am very angry about and feel cheated. I never miss an appointment without calling and always pay in full it seems they are confused or just trying to give me a hard time. The one dog is suffer and the treatment for his ears didn’t work five hundred dollars plus later and when I boarded him they never groomed him or took his heart worm exams as promised.

Experiencia fantástica: I can only comment on our check-in at this point. I can leave another review when we pick up our Bernie. We had an “emergency” situation come up with respect to boarding our 2 year old Shih-Chon. Petsmart Hotel told us they would take Bernie, he’d had his Lepto booster the day before, and that they would make an exception to the 48 hour vaccine rule. The day of drop-off, we spoke to a different person, and they said it was against their policy. We were so upset and worried about finding a place to take him so last minute. When I called VCA Civano, they were so nice! The receptionist spoke with a supervisor, and not only did they have room for Bernie, they also made an exception, taking him at 36 hours post vaccination! Of course, we were thrilled! We dropped Bernie off on a Tuesday night at 7:30 PM. We were greeted by the reception and immediately by one of the kennel staff. She needed a little help help from her preceptor because she was new, but everything went smoothly & Bernie wasn’t nervous at all! They were great with him! I am, so far impressed with this facility and based on my first experience, I would recommend VCA Civano to friends and family. Thank you so much, VCA, for taking care of our sweet Bernie! We love him to pieces and I hope he’s behaving well for all of you!

Experiencia fantástica: I understand a business must operate profitable. Vets have the unenviable task of dealing with simple health matters to life threatening ones for animals that are more often than not, peoples best friends, companions, and family members. That's certainly my case. My dogs are my best friends, companions, and family. They are all I have. I had to leave them for an hour and a half and came back to fine my adult male shot to death, and my 7 month old male with a bullet hole and shattered knee. This was for no reason by any exaggeration of thought. With the adult dog dead and my pup injured badly I raced to Civano Animal Hospital because it was closest to me. The first words from their mouth were we need $850 deposit. Again I understand and I simply don't have that kind of money readily available. In the end they treated me very well. They turned out to be very caring and humane. They assessed my situation. They did triage and x rays on my pup, and showed me why amputation was required. They found me $1500 from one organization and $700 from another. They forwarded their findings and X-rays to another shelter that could do the surgery for much less. Normally the other vet is booked 2 months ahead but they graciously squeezed me in. I don't know why there is such a price difference...I am not savvy to the way these things work...my heart tells me there's a reason but still I wonder why money has been placed at the forefront of everything. I know I'm homeless and broke but give me a few days I will sell my car and pool resources and network and..... This is how vets operate I have found...no money no care. I guess I'm saying that may be wrong when it comes to an emergency. At the end I shook Warren's hand and thanked him for their help. I looked him in the eye and promised him that they would be paid. If not by any left over from grants THEY FOUND FOR ME...then I would pay them every penny I can until its paid in full. The staff is awesome, the facility is beautifully nice and very clean, they are doing everything they can under the blanket of the reality of what it cost to run a place like that and what resources pet owners have available. I will make sure I pay them every penny because they DID NOT FACTOR OUT THE ELEMENTS OF PROPER CARE....COMPASSION, FRIENDLINESS, HONESTY, WILLINGNESS TO HELP, AND GENUINE CARE FOR MY LOSS OF GENO AND THE FACT I WAS SOON TO HAVE A 3 LEGGED PUP. NOR WERE THEY UNSYMPATHETIC TO THE MANNER AND CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR OF THE MAN WHO SHOT MY DOGS FOR NO REASON. THEY GET 5 STARS BECAUSE WHEN THE RUBBER HIT THE ROAD THEY TOOK A CHANCE ON ME....AND THEY CHOOSE CARE OVER CASH AND YOU CANT ASK FOR MORE THAN THAT. THEIR CARE WAS CRUCIAL IN MAKING SURE I DIDN'T LOSE BOTH MY FRIENDS. SO I AM CLEARLY GRATEFUL AND IN THEIR DEBT.....EMOTIONALLY AND FINANCIALLY. I WILL SQUARE UP HOW EVER LONG IT TAKES ME....BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO BE A FACTOR IN THEIR DECISION TO CHOOSE TO NOT HELP SOMEBODY ELSE BECAUSE US BROKE FOOLS CAN'T HONOR OUR WORD AND OUR RESPONSIBILITIES. WE CAN AND I WILL. Keep up the good work, thank you for all you did yesterday, and God Bless you as an organization and as individuals. Please keep the qualities that I learn from my dogs everyday....in balance with the costs of providing such great care, and do everything you can to treat each pet on a case to case basis. You're all righteous I'n my eyes. Peace and I'll be in very soon to begin chipping away at whatever bill I acquired yesterday and you guys altered your policy to allow Dingo to be saved. I'm eternally grateful.

Experiencia fantástica: I utilized Civano Animal Hospital for post-surgical, overnight observation due to a complicated spay, because the spaying vet's office did not provide overnight care. The staff at Civano provided several detailed updates on Storm's status throughout the night and clear, detailed oral and written release directions the next day, with a follow-up phone call to check on her status. An actual Vet and techs were on staff at all times. Overall we are very impressed with the level of care provided. This establishment is costly, but commensurate with the level of care and quality of the facilities. Of course Storm is doing much better.

Experiencia negativa: There should be an option for zero stars. They don't even deserve the one mandated to write a review. They removed our dog from us instead of examining him in our presence. We don't even know for sure that he was examined because the vet didn't address or treat the issue (pulled out toenail) for which we brought our dog to their "urgent care" and instead tried to parvo scare us with a quote of almost $900 in snap tests because we'd just rescued the animal. Their office fee was outrageous and they did absolutely nothing. We had to go elsewhere for care. When the charge was challenged they repeatedly asked for details and would not voluntarily refund it. Fortunately I paid with a credit card and was protected. Don't go here - and if you do, don't pay them in cash.

Experiencia fantástica: I've visited several vets in Tucson over the span of 20 years. Some pets have gone through some traumatic times and some just needed checkups. Some places were good experiences and others I felt like I was just revenue. My last vet I was happy with and he needed to refer me to Civano for a specialty visit. I'm forever thankful to that vet for sending me especially since it has made me see how wonderful Civano really is. Nothing against my last vet who was wonderful but ALL of my experiences at Civano have been next level amazing that I won't take any of my pets anywhere else. They don't nickel and dime. When I say how much I can pay, they help me stay in that budget and give the service I NEED instead of try to get all they can. When my dog had her first litter and I was freaking out, one of their staff eased my fears by texting my questions back and forth and saved me from making unnecessary choices. The doctors know my babies by name. I had to bring in a fog overnight and when the care was simple and easy to do, they did it and showed me what I can do to stop it from happening again. I'll never go anywhere else. Today when I brought my dog in there was an emergency and someone was bringing in an unconscious dog. They were obviously and justifiably distraught and I watched as they techs and staff moved quickly to do what they could to save the dog. While they needed some answers from the owner, the staff had already moved the dog into the exam room and started life saving measures. No talk of money or "we can't do anything until you pay". I know of a dog they took in and found monetary help for so they could correct issues made by being born into a puppy mill. Big surgeries and corrections needed and they made arrangements so the dog wouldn't be destroyed as the owner wanted since he wasn't sellable. That's the vet I want to keep in business. That's the hospital/clinic I want to pay to stay open to care for more families and their besties. .that's Civano.

Experiencia fantástica: My original vet was too busy to see my dog (quite frankly I haven’t been happy with them since they got bought out) and so I as referred by a close friend to Civano. We had no previous relationship and they got us in by appointment on New Years Eve. They were obviously busy based on the cars in the lot but we would have never known once we got inside. The staff and vet asst and vet treated us as if we were family. They got us in and out fairly quickly but we never felt rushed. We will be leaving our old vet and are happy we found civano! In addition, the total bill at cubano including medication was less than the initial emergency cost just to be seen at my old vet-not including any treatment or meds! I feel like my loyalty to the old vet was taken for granted by them and they are simply a money making business at this point. Thank you Civano for caring and treating us and our dog like family!

Experiencia fantástica: The animal ER is not where we wanted to end up on Christmas Eve, especially while on travel. We found this clinic by the reviews and feel so fortunate we did!! Every person we interacted with, from the triage on the phone, to the vet tech/nurse, to the doctor herself, was respectful, efficient, and kind. They got us in and out in under two hours during a time that seemed busy, kept us informed at all times, and took spectacular care of our little old lady cat. They went above and beyond to care for us and I left feeling incredibly impressed. I would recommend this clinic 100%.

Experiencia fantástica: My sulcata tortoise, Sole, had to come to Civano on November 20th after having a bladder stone removed at another Veternarian clinic. After the surgery he wasn't breathing on his own and my vet brought him to Civano. Each and every person i had come in.contact with was absolutely amazing. Very comforting and made me feel like Sole was their #1 priority. I wish I could remember everyone's names. Sole was in the ICU and because of his size (115lbs) he had his own room. The staff allowed me to come spend time with him for the 4 nights he was there. Thank you to everyone. He's home and resting comfortably inside in his new house.

Experiencia fantástica: Our experience at Civano Animal Hospital was great! We had an emergency on a Sunday. The staff was friendly and professional. They were able to get us in, took great care of our 14 year old lab and we were back at home within an hour with medication in hand. I would definitely recommend Civano Animal Hospital.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog was very sick and my vet was out of town and the vet techs recommended I take him to Civano Animal Hospital. We were a walk in and they took us for an appointment without much delay. They started working with him immediately. Long story short. They found he had leukemia and was very advanced and Dr Jule said, "she did not think he would last 24 to 48 hours. We opted to put him to sleep. Dr Jule was very kind and thorough and explained everything so well that we knew we were making the right decision. I would not hesitate to take my dogs there again. Experiencia fantástica: I came in for an emergency visit with my dog Koda. He was in pain and I wasn’t sure why. Two very sweet vets, took care of him and explained everything in detail. They definitely made a stressful situation less stressful for both me and Koda. Also, the vet tech was very gentle and sweet with him. I highly recommend bringing your fur babies here. The staff really cares.

Experiencia fantástica: I am so impressed by the knowledge and professionalism every single person we came into contact with here. They took such good care of our kitty Jack and made sure we had all the information and choices we needed. Since Jack had to have surgery they called us every morning and afternoon with updates which was so wonderful! We will absolutely be bringing our other pets here for care. Thank you so much!
