Experiencia fantástica: I have a poodle named Jasper. In 2016, he had some skin infection issues, and through a friend's recommendation, we came to this animal hospital. Acredale has been taking care of his health for the past ten years. Two weeks ago, due to his old age, pneumonia, and skin cancer, we visited the hospital. After an efficient and professional examination, Dr. Madison offered several treatment options, and we decided to bring him home and take medicine and keep conservative treatment. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it. I called to cancel Jasper's follow-up appointment and let them know we lost him. Today, I received a card from them—thank you for the comfort from Acredale! Once we get through the grief of losing Jasper, we will bring our new puppy back here! Absolutely!

Experiencia negativa: I called yesterday asking to set up a new pet vet visit. The receptionist offered me an appointment the following day at 7 pm. I was told to arrive 15 Min early with a fecal sample and vet records. When I showed up, I was told there was no appointment made. I showed the girl my call logs. She was rude and treated me as I was making up this information. She then told me a vet could only see me if there were no medical concerns. When I asked why she said “ it’s late and you aren’t scheduled so we are having to fit you in” . I asked her if she felt I was making up that I had a scheduled appointment and just arrived at 7 for fun? “ At this point, I realized this vet and I are not a match and walked out. . Maybe confirm all appointments before showing up because they very likely will not have you scheduled.

Experiencia fantástica: Unfortunate and fairly rare recurring root hypoplasia in our Golden Doodle. Several teeth had to be extracted. Vet took great care with him and he is again on the mend. Extraordinary service from Acredale!

So thankful for how well Acredale looks after her Adding- I was on travel for work and my grandfather took her in. They were nice enough to speak to me over the phone while looking after Cali. Today's visit was a follow-up for xrays & a referal to a heart doctor. The Acredale doctor was very patient in answering all of my questions. I highly recommend Acredale Animal Hospital.

Recently transferred from Bay Beach vet where we had a horrible experience with one of our rottis there. This was our first visit to Acredale vet.

Experiencia fantástica: My cat, Papi got extremely sick a little less than a week before we went on a two week vacation out of the country. Papi spent every day with them that week as they monitored him, gave him meds trying to bring his fever down and managed his symptoms. In the evening, they released him to us with a detailed report of the day and clear instructions for the night. The doctors met with my adult son and showed him how to take his temperature, what medications to give and what symptoms would mean he needed to be seen again. Everyone gave our baby lots of love while he was with them, were responsive to our concerns about leaving and took excellent care of him. Because of their excellent care our Papi was fever free before we left for our trip and on the road to recovery. We left knowing that Papi would be in good hands if he had a set back when we were gone. I could not have asked for more!

Experiencia fantástica: Always a pleasure to go to the vets with my pets. Always greeted with a smile. Acredale cared for my elder cat who had special health needs for 14 years before she passed . They were very kind and caring at the time of her passing. They care for my three year old and the new kitten we adopted. I would never go anywhere else. I don’t even mind waiting when things happen. I always have a book and snacks with me! A wonderful group of dedicated people that my family very much appreciates!

Experiencia fantástica: Very great and thorough staff. My dogs get all their services done by Acredale to include boarding when needed! They did have grooming and annual checks within the same visit and the staff made it simply for both to be addressed while I was not physically there! It was a bit costly but you are paying for quality when being there.

They got us an appointment in a timely manner and were thorough with her work up. Unfortunately we found out she had cancer and needed to put her down, which they were also incredible and supportive for. Not the outcome we’d hoped for but grateful to have had their support through the process

Dr. Green was very thorough and actually suggested something to help my 10 year old yorkie mix's gastro issues that had never been brought up before with other vets. Experiencia negativa: If I could give this hospital a 0 review I would, we've been taking our dachshund here for years we took him this past Monday for a nail trim by Tuesday morning he had a staph infection in his hind paw to where he couldn't put his own weight down on the floor made an appt and took him back to another of there clinics to find out about the infection hes on 3 antibiotics as of right now hopefully it'll clear up soon...went back to the original clinic where he went for the nail trim only for them to say he must have had the infection brewing, prior to the trim but considering when we took him he was walking on all four paws now he has a nasty infection I don't think that was the problem, no offer of compensation for the problem plus spent 2 hundred dollars to fix our baby with antibiotics, if you love your fur babies please don't take them to this clinic for any kind of care, they don't care about your babies. I hope this review reaches at least one person that cares about there babies. Our little guy wont be going back to this clinic now or ever again

Experiencia negativa: Acerdale animal hospital is TERRIBLE! Last week we had an appointment at 12 and weren’t seen until 1:30. About 3 weeks ago I called and was told for a tech visit we could come in and be seen quickly, I got there within 10 minutes and we had to wait an hour. The wait times are ridiculous and we would prefer to go to another vet where we can be seen in a timely manner. Editing my review as I’m back 8 months a Later and still having the same issues. This vet office is awful and they haven’t done anything to fix it. Every single time I call I am told they are short staffed and they obviously have to many animals here at once to take care of any of them properly. They will tell y oh standard “20 minute wait” time but ive never ever had less than 30 minutes. They have 7 people behind the desk right now but not enough staff to take care of the animals here? Ridiculous

My dog is quite particular and Dr. Mintz always works at her pace and does what she's okay with. Very sweet and soft spoken. I highly recommend this office. I'm more than happy to drive from north suffolk to here everytime.

Experiencia fantástica: Called in with my puppy experiencing a great deal of diarrhea that chicken and rice could not help. Since the clinic was at capacity for the day they had a PA call me back. She replied to me within 10 minutes with recommending cans of a bland diet, pre and probiotics and after receiving a stool sample, prescribed an antibiotic which cleared everything up within a day. I highly recommend Acredale Animal Hospital!

Experiencia fantástica: I am so grateful for this clinic. Affordable yet very high quality. I have had great experiences with all the vets and techs, they have all been so kind and educational. My dog loves every tech who works with her, and even my extremely skittish cats trust the staff and environment. Some clinics will try to rwck up high bills, but not this clinic. They really have the animals best interest in heart, not money. And the plan your pay yearly for , for reduced charge walk in ER type visits? Total Godsend. Has been a financial lifesaver for a helicopter Mom and pupp that needs an ER visit every 3 months for managing to eat or jump in something bad. Great program. Love them!

Experiencia fantástica: After all these years (at least 5 years that I can remember), Ty have been very happy to go and get his shots and as needed physical checks. Even had his teeth cleaned and never had any issue after his teeth cleaning. Now that Ty is getting into his senior years, he has been well taken cared of with regards to his health and that the Veterinarian/staff are very understanding and patient with our questions regarding his well-being.

Experiencia negativa: My family has used the Kempsville location for 2 years, and they stick out from their Lynnhaven counterpart. I've had a few experiences in which I felt disappointed (front counter staff is clearly overwhelmed every time I go), confused (simply wanted to know if my dog was old enough to not have to have puppy food and told I need to pay for a different visit to get a yes or no, called the Lynnhaven location to which they responded over the phone based on my dog's info in the system - imagine that), or we were being rushed by a vet after spending so much time waiting for an appointment time that wasn't honored initially- either way, 2 years is a short time to consistently show a lack of compassion in the care provided. For me, what broke the camel's back: my senior being in perfect health prior to her bloodwork visit 2 weeks ago, her getting sick after the only thing different in her routine was going to the vet, being told she will either come back at 11 am or get a room immediately after having her vitals checked, waited an hour for said room in my car (after initially letting them know I live within 5 minutes, do I have to stay in the car, to which they said it will only be a few minutes) only to call after almost an hour of waiting that they do not have a room so come back at 11, was apologized to over the phone for their disinfecting process not being enough to prevent dogs from getting sick in their establishment, to having the office manager Alisha come see me at the end of our visit that finally took place to tell me I'm here about the news stories, and dogs get sick ( I came because my old dog was displaying worsening symptoms, but will now be looking up whatever Alisha was talking about). At no point did she interact with my dog, she treated us like we were inconvenient, and I'm simply hoping my dog won't succumb to something that could take her from me and she contracted it in a trusted environment. I have no clue as to what Alisha was trying to accomplish as her front counter staff over the phone, the vet tech, and the vet (vet was a Dr. Minogue. Sp?) were very apologetic, and then came in Alisha seemingly faulting my senior girl for getting sick at the vet when her bloodwork confirms she was fine. I am grateful to the individuals I spoke with on the phone, the vet tech that worked with my girl, and the vet; but absolutely nothing was made right. I hope they're able to begin to provide the care they charge for, as my dog is owed much better, and our animals are why Acredale exists. EDIT: We looked up what Alisha was talking about. apparently due to staffing issues, there were sick employees working with animals. My dog is not the only animal that got sick from Acredale. Again: I hope they're able to provide the *quality* of care they charge for. Edit May 2025: This review was initially left 2 years ago with 2 stars, it was changed to 1 after another poor experience earlier this month of THIS year, and just now have gotten a response devoid of accountability claiming this is a recent critique. The disappointment persists.

Experiencia positiva: I've been taking my dogs to Acredale for years. Dr. Meader has always been their vet. But she is on the emergency side now. Which disappoints me I've always been satisfied. My Kandie & Jax had appts in December. Dr Montgomery was their dr.and she was wonderful. She is just as kind, gentle and compassionate as Dr. Meader. The staff is also very nice. They understand my Kandie's anxiety and my Jax's reactivity which is comforting to me.

Experiencia negativa: Absolutely DO NOT use this vet clinic. I have been going here for 20 years for my pets (minus a 4 year lapse in no pets). They got bought during covid and the entire office is now useless. They let my 10 month old puppy meds lapse and took over 2 days to respond to request for refills on meds. She had no pain management for an injured leg for 2 days due the ineptitude of this entire staff. Only after 4 phone calls in two days did they even get me to someone who could help. For 2 days straight they told me a doctor would review the medical files I had sent from the emergency vet to have the prescriptions filled. Up until the 4th call, 2.5 days later, no one had looked at the file. By all necessary means, never ever use this veterinary clinic. If you care for your pets, avoid this place and their useless staff. I have never seen a more useless group of people in my life. They are rude and have zero concern for their patients. As a person who has been using this place for the better part of two decades, find somewhere else. Also, look at these losers ratings on yelp and other places. It seems they are holding their current review score from their past.

Experiencia fantástica: Paws down this is the best veterinary clinic I have had the pleasure of taking my pets to. My husband and I have been taking our kitties to this practice for the past 3 years. The staff is passionate and knowledgeable. Each vet takes the time to answer any questions we have. They have spent 30 minutes on the phone with us before to explain a thyroid and kidney issue with our older feline.

Experiencia fantástica: The vets and staff of Acredale Animal Hospital are second to none! My spicy Shihpoo mix was a patient there for 9 years! She was a handful & could be aggressive when scared, but she was always handled with compassion and gentle hands. My dog developed diabetes and required more medical care as the years went on. The vet techs handled her so well, and I can’t say enough about Dr. Bayne & Dr. Elliot whose care gave Beatrice a fighting chance to thrive during her senior years. We recently said goodbye to our little girl. Dr. Mintz handled her last visit. Her tenderness and empathy for us while our hearts broke made the hardest day of my life of little less tragic. Thank you from the Schaff family for the professional, loving care you all provide for our pet community. It is appreciated beyond measure!

Thanks for being such a great place and providing excellent excellent care. Just this past week my dog needed emergency care. We were seen immediately. I’m so thankful for the outstanding care Dexter received. Just a wonderful place.

Experiencia negativa: If your pet is timid or nervous about vet visits, I wouldn’t recommend bringing them here. I’ve worked as a Vet Tech for seven years, and I’ve never experienced a situation like the one I had with my dog today. My dog is typically happy, playful, and friendly with people and other dogs. His previous vet always used a calm, “less is more” approach to handling, which worked wonderfully—he trusted her completely and never had issues with vaccines. Last week, I brought him to this clinic after a suspected reaction to a bug bite or sting. During that visit, the tech was excellent—understanding, patient, and kind. Although my dog was timid and not feeling well, she offered treats and peanut butter, which helped him feel more comfortable. However, he seemed very scared of the male vet at that appointment, which was unusual for him. I assumed it was because he wasn’t feeling well and didn’t think much of it. This week, I returned for his recheck and to update his rabies vaccine. My dog was much improved, but the assistant at this appointment didn’t make the same effort to build trust with him as the previous assistant had. When the vet entered, my dog had the same fearful reaction as before. He was shaking and trying to avoid the vet, which broke my heart because I’ve never seen him behave this way. The situation escalated when the vet asked me to restrain my dog in the middle of the room without offering any assistance or compromise, despite how clearly scared my dog was. My dog became more anxious as the vet tried to administer the vaccine, and when the attempt failed from him jumping, the vet immediately suggested using a muzzle and then sedation. While I understand the need for safety measures, especially as a former tech, my dog wasn’t growling or acting aggressively—he was simply terrified. When I declined sedation, the vet’s tone became dismissive and he said “okay but you see what he’s doing right?”, I felt my dog was being unfairly labeled as aggressive, which he is not. It wasn’t the vaccine itself causing his reaction; it was the way he was being handled and his fear of the vet. I told him I would just prefer to reschedule this appointment, but I knew at this point I wouldn’t be coming back to him. While I understand this approach can be helpful in some cases, it felt unnecessary for my dog, given that he’s had this same vaccine administered before without any issue. It became clear to me that this clinic wasn’t willing to take the time to build trust with him, and instead labeled him as aggressive due to his fear. After the failed attempt, the assistant from our first visit stopped by, gave my dog some treats, and said hello. That small interaction made a world of difference—my dog instantly relaxed and returned to his usual self. Unfortunately, the rest of the visit left a sour taste in my mouth. I wasn’t offered a reschedule or provided with the sedative the vet recommended for next time. Ultimately, I’ve decided not to return to this clinic. I know my dog’s behavior was a direct result of fear, and I need a vet who will approach him with the patience and compassion he’s used to, especially for routine care.

The doctors and staff are absolutely wonderful. We have used every location at one time or another and never had a negative experience. If you are needing a veterinarian or looking for one we highly recommend Acredale Animal Hospital and it doesn't matter which office they are all exceptional.

The grooming staff is always so welcoming, they make sure and go over everything that will be done to my pet. The vet staff is wonderful and pleasant. Experiencia negativa: I’ve been going to Acredale for many years. My latest experience was not good. My dog had the senior exam in September which included blood work. His weight was not recorded. But, I had him on the scale. December 24 I noticed a lump on his back. He was examined with a Cytology and X ray on 26 Dec. on 2 Jan 2025, my dog had diarrhea and vomited. I was told to bring him in on 3 January he was re-examined. On 4 Jan 25, my dog woke up and coughed up some blood. I called and was told to bring him back in for another exam. The vet at this time told me the cylology was a bad sample and could not verify if cancerous. The vet also took chest X rays and found numerous cancer in his lungs and was verified by a radiologist. I was told he has 1 - 3 months to live. I was devastated. Now looking back, there might have been several signs, between 3 exams and his complete senior exam in Sept 24 that could have indicated cancer at an earlier stage and prevented this. The cost alone for 3 exams was over $1000 which included an incomplete cytology. It would have been nice for some type of follow up call with some options after finding incurable cancer.

Experiencia fantástica: I have always been so pleased every time I bring my pets here. Dr. Green was the best. She listened to me and my concerns and I felt like she genuinely cared for my Golden Retriever. He has been sick for awhile and she did the necessary testing (she didn’t try to do extra just for the money) to confirm both her and my suspicions. I received a call as soon as the labs were back and medication had already been ordered and was ready for pick up before our conversation was complete. I won’t take my pets (my family members) anywhere else. I am so grateful to Dr. Green and the Acredale Kempsville team. You are literally lifesavers.

Experiencia fantástica: I was having trouble getting timely appointments for my cats at the vet clinic I had been going to for 16 yrs. My partner has been taking his dogs to Acredale since 2015. I was able to get appointments for my cats very quickly even as a new client. Dr. Mintz & Dr. Green were wonderful & caring. I am super happy with the care my cats received & the friendliness of all the employees I had interaction with during my 2 visits. Many thanks to the whole Acredale team.

I got calls everyday after treatment to check on her progress. Always have the front desk associates very friendly & helpful to me & my Pearl. I would give them 5 stars.

Experiencia fantástica: Urgent care next day appointment. Staff was kind attentive and made me feel better. I was happy, addressed all my concerns, did xrays per my request, nothing broken but made me aware of unknown issues. Sent my girl home with 2 RXs for pain and inflammation. With 2-3 weeks rest I expect my girl will be better.

Experiencia fantástica: I’m giving this vets office 5 stars because I have taken our pup to more vets than I’d like to admit. It’s been difficult to find vets that actually want to do their jobs and handle all types of dogs. Ours gets anxious at ALL vet clinics & groomers, & he likes to jerk around when being held. Acredale took us in as first time patients in one day and were gentle with our pup enough & took it slow. We held off getting some very important vaccines because we’ve been told that he has to be sedated to get them!! Not here!! This will now be our vet home!!

Experiencia negativa: Vet doc- Aline Sevigny. I used to love Acredale Animal Hospital. I’ve entrusted both of my dogs in their care for over 7 years. They have performed their annual vaccinations and I have boarded both of my pugs on multiple occasions, leaving them completely in their care. Tonight, I brought both of my pugs in. I was shocked by the fact that the waiting room was empty yet we were not seen until an hour and fifteen minutes after our scheduled appointment. I have two pugs whom as a breed are notorious for their rambunctiousness. She said “you must leave them in a pen all day and all night”. Pugs aren’t normal dogs, they are a bit feisty, they get very excited, and she seemed to have no clue about it. My dogs are the sweetest, most loving animals, they just get excited around people. She made me feel terrible. When the first of the two dogs was examined, I noticed a red spot under her arm. This was post examination. She never noticed it. She immediately reprimanded ME (the owner), for not having the harness that she recommended. I reminded her that today was our first day this new harness, again she reprimanded me. She performed a senior blood sample on one of my dogs a year early. She wasn’t the kind of vet I would ever entrust my beloved animals with again. She was belittling, not thorough, and I don’t plan on taking my animals there in the future. It is truly disappointing when you have entrusted the care of your little loved ones into the hands of a person that treats them like a paycheck. I don’t want to go back there again. I wonder now how my dogs were treated while they were boarded, and I don’t feel comfortable there anymore.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Miller was probably my favorite vet who I’ve taken my babies to! The rest of staff is also great and accommodating. Their manager was extremely helpful and knowledgeable when my pups had a scare come up. The urgent care services and grooming being in the same location have been a tremendous help since moving to the area.

Experiencia fantástica: The folks at Acredale are really nice people. I believe they really like taking care of animals. I had to take my dog Bo for his annual and he really liked them. They were nice as could be to him and I think if you had to take your pet there you would be satisfied with their care and kindness to your pet as I was.

A lot of vets are understaffed and overwhelmed right now, but they continue to offer the same quality of care and consideration, even under the pressure. I appreciate them and I don’t take my cat anywhere else.

Experiencia fantástica: Acredale has been treating my Bean forever. They send me reminders of his needs & appointments, listen to our concerns, and answers all of our questions. They are gentle & efficient and I love that I can go into the waiting room with 10 dogs and it is still so quiet in there!

Experiencia negativa: They gave 2 of my pets double vaccinations, they cut one of my pet during grooming and didn’t tell me. I have been taking my pets for years, one of my pets has cancer and they didn’t even know. I took her to a different vet they said she has 2 tumors, one is so big, how can you miss that if i paid every year for labs and exams. That means you took my money and not do exams. When i reported the cut the manager didn’t do anything. My baby is fighting for her life, she could have been treated early and avoid this.

Experiencia negativa: 9/30/2024: I’ve been coming here for many years and have always been treated great. Unfortunately, today I had to bring my small cockapoo (Bella 16 years old) in for a quality of life check. This was my first experience with Dr. Pamela Minogue and it will be my last time dealing with her. This was the first time going here where I felt like I was being treated in a non comforting and callous manner. This is a sensitive time and the manner in which I was spoken to is totally not what I expected. All other staff members were pleasant and sensitive to mine and my pets situation. I recommend Dr. Minogue receive the proper sensitivity training and how to talk to people while handling our pets.

Experiencia fantástica: Family has been going to this vet for years so when it was time that I got my own animals I took them here. The grooming department is also amazing and handled my fur baby with such care.

Experiencia negativa: The vet and staff do a great job but the groomers scarred my dog when they shaved him until he was bloody. I told them that they cut him badly and they told me I could come and get a salve for it. I would recommend the veterinarian and would actively avoid the groomer.

Every veterinarian we have seen has provided excellent care and demonstrated understanding regarding our pets needs and options for care we chose. They communicate well with specialist practices. The techs and front desk staff are courteous and attentive. Whether it’s picking up prescription dog food to treating a serious illness the staff and care have been outstanding.

Experiencia fantástica: We've only been with Acredale about two months. Recently, my cat had a urinary tract blockage which is life threatening. It was a weekend and unfortunately, Acredale was closed so we went to the closest ER vet where he was evaluated. They referred us to an overnight facility in Yorktown & that facility was only overnight so we needed to find somewhere that could care for him until he was out of the woods. I called Acredale and they suggested the COVE in Suffolk who definitely was able to help. After we arrived at COVE, the staff at Acredale called to check on us to make sure we were okay and that meant so much to my wife and I. Once our cat was discharged from the hospital, he got a follow up visit at Acredale and they were able to tell us he was doing great and put our minds at ease. So in short, the kind and caring staff at Acredale has our gratitude and loyalty for life. Thank you for all you do!

I love that I don’t have to make a vet appointment for basic things like blood work or nail trims. Walk ins were quick and easy. They understand people have hectic schedules and do their best to make sure you pets receive the care they need. Can’t say enough great things about this place.

She is very caring and understanding for our kitties, and will go above and beyond to help treat my kitties when they are not well. Love this place.

Experiencia negativa: I have always felt good when I took my dogs to acredale. This time was a total different experience. I saw three different vets. Three different diagnosis. My dog was not doing well. I knew she was not getting better. My last visit within a week I was told she would not make it long. She has cancer. After much agonizing and watching my dog decline it was time to put her down. I got to room waiting. When the vet came in she started by telling me I was wrong . She was just very ill and blood work did not indicate cancer. She made me feel like I was murdering my dog. I sat on the floor with my dog for 2 hours before she finally and rudely gave my dog injection. Then left I will not be returning to acredale. I hope no one ever has this happen to them.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff went above and beyond to figure out a solution to see my pet. I accidentally showed up at the wrong location for a drop off appointment, and the front desk staff didn’t just turn me away (I was the one that made the mistake after all) but instead checked to see if they had room, and even called someone who was planning to come that day to confirm if they were actually going to bring their pet in. I was so grateful that they were able to help me out when others may have just said “you messed up!” Thank you for seeing my pup and getting to the bottom of her health issue! Also—the doctor and tech were super friendly and informative! I’ve always had good experiences there!
