Experiencia negativa: USED TO BE AN INCREDIBLE HOSPITAL but apparently not any longer. My female baby had 3 seizures within 48 hours, the first one occurred approx 2 months ago. It took 5 hours for someone to give me some direction, it's an emergency, it's not emergency, going back and forth with staff, the doctor called the wrong number after I left specific instructions. The manager, Kaitlyn extremely rude, not understanding at all. I finally get there for Ms. Kaitlyn to administer the meds to prevent seizures. Doesn't acknowledge me, doesn't say hello, huge attitude but I ignored it because what matters is my dog. Now my dog has a swollen eye, bulging and Ms Kaitlyn wants to know if she could have potentially banged into a wall. OF COURSE NOT, I've been monitoring her since we arrived from this awful place. So if I take my dog back to them to check the eye, it will cost me another visit because there will be another doctor on duty. All i can say is "wow" no one cares anymore. Needless to say, I will be finding a better qualified Vet that actually cares about the animals.

We understand how distressing it can be to manage a pet experiencing seizures, and we appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention. When you contacted University Animal Hospital, we presented two options to address Annie’s condition: 1. We could examine her, monitor her, and perform diagnostics, with the possibility of referring her to an emergency clinic better equipped to handle active seizures, as our schedule was fully booked with emergencies at the time. 2. We provided you with the contact information for VEC, should you prefer to seek immediate care there. Dr. Candelario also reached out to you via phone, using both the primary number on file and the number you provided (your daughter’s). During this call, he recommended an examination, monitoring, bloodwork, and potentially starting Annie on seizure medication. After this, we understand you called back, feeling upset about the situation. Despite our busy schedule, we prioritized Annie’s care by adjusting to see her during Dr. Candelario and the manager Katelynn’s lunch break, ensuring she received the necessary exam, bloodwork, and medication. Following the visit, you opted to monitor her at home rather than pursue hospitalization, which we fully respected. Later that evening, 20 minutes before closing, you informed us of swelling in Annie’s eye, and we promptly requested photos to assess the situation. After consulting with Dr. Candelario, he noted that eye swelling is not a typical reaction to phenobarbital but acknowledged that drowsiness from the medication could potentially lead to an accidental bump or fall. We understand this explanation may have caused frustration, and for that, we are truly sorry. We regret that your experience with us did not meet your expectations, and we will take your feedback seriously as we continuously strive to improve our communication and processes. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Our goal is to provide compassionate care for all of our patients and their families. Experiencia fantástica: Personally, I had a good experience here recently. I have been going here for about 2-3 years now. On the day I went, I could tell the staff genuinely wanted to help my dog feel better, and treat him properly such that he got better from his condition. I can say now his ear infection has healed, albeit slowly, and the ear is doing very well, he is visibly happier. Thank you for getting me in as soon as you could, for his treatment. Thank you

Experiencia negativa: We've gone to them for almost 10 years, and unfortunately we're ending the relationship via death by a thousand cuts. They are constantly trying to upsell now. Techs are mediocre. They egregiously over charged us for a dental cleaning that originally had a range of $750-$1000 (including a few anticipated extractions), but while my dog was under, they told us he need 3-4 extra extractions to the tune of $2.5k total...we had no choice really. But more than that they appear to have gone fully corporate. They will no longer write prescriptions for outside pharmacies like Chewy (huge savings), they will only fill out Rx for their own in-house pharmacy which of course will bleed you dry... Greedy and disgusting behavior. They've lost all semblance of integrity.

I’m truly sorry to hear about your experience. It’s disheartening when a trusted relationship feels strained, especially when it comes to our beloved pets. I understand how frustrating the changes in policy can be. We recently sent out an email informing clients that we will no longer be accepting prescriptions from outside pharmacies. However, we will honor written prescriptions for you to pick up in our clinic. Our goal is to improve the experience for pet parents, including reducing wait times and enhancing the overall flow within the hospital. In regards to the dental, we provide a rough estimate for the grade of dental which includes (examination by the doctor, Radiographs of the full mouth, scaling, probing and polishing teeth). We can not guarantee the amount of extractions (price or the amount of extractions) until AFTER dental radiographs are preformed because that is when we truly know the health and status of the teeth and the roots. After the Radiographs are preformed the doctor always calls the owner to go over in detail the health of the teeth/roots and the results of the radiographs to know any additional cost that the doctor recommends. HOWEVER, the owner has the full option to decline or approve any services/products offered at that time. Thank you for your feedback—it helps us understand how we can better serve you and your pets. Experiencia negativa: My dog came to the University Animal Hospital because of cough. The doctor gave me some medicine and told me that the amount of the medicine for 14 days was about $60, and when I used up all the medicine on the 5 day, I had to go back to the hospital and ask, the staff told me that I needed to pay another $39.8. I don't understand why I paid for a 14-day dose but only gave me a 6-day dose, why I wasn't given enough the first time, and why I had to pay more for my dog to get better. I'm not coming back.

Experiencia negativa: Took my dog here for nearly his entire life. Would make you wonder why I would go back for so long after leaving a 1 star review. When I first took him here things were different. There's been a lot of turnover and the doctors are not the same. The girls that run the desk are great, so I feel for them in leaving this review. 2 years ago they failed to properly diagnose my dog with cancer. Didn't think anything of it. Bring him back a few months later as the bump is growing, and this time they claim it is cancer. Fortunately, Animal cancer care clinic (phenomenal place, cant rave enough about them) saved my dog for another two years. A few weeks ago, I bring him back in only to now deal with a doctor who's English is so poor I can't understand a word he's saying. Most Spanish accents are navigable, not this one. After many failed attempts of him trying to tell me he wanted to put my dog down, I finally understood what he was saying. When you go in not expecting the worst, but that's what life gives you, this is not how you want to hear it. Ridiculous. Not the way you want to spend your last moments with you dog. Fortunately, I took my dog out that day and brought him to the Cancer center to be put down, where the doctors actually care (at least they sure seem to) rather than feel like your just another way to ring the register. Go elsewhere. Sorry for the desk staff, other nurses, they are great. Ownership, care a bit more about vets than profits. Stop trying to save money and find someone who can clearly speak English and relay the darkest news with any sense of compassion. I will never return, if I chose to get another dog.

Experiencia negativa: The doctors are fine but whoever is doing the scheduling/administrative work is incredibly unprofessional. They texted the wrong confirmation time for our appointment and immediately hung up on us when we pointed out how frustrating that mistake was. We will be going to another vet.

Haven’t been here long but from the moment you walk in the door you get an amazing greeting. Experiencia negativa: I came in because our dog was having a myriad of strange pain symptoms. Paid 70 bucks for the vet to basically pet my dog, check their ears, and say “they should probably get blood work done.” Which, if I understood it correctly, wouldn’t help with any diagnosis of my dogs but is something they should do at their age.

Experiencia negativa: I am extremely disappointed in my service today. My primary reason for my follow up so soon (saw Emergency Vet Sunday, today is Tuesday so we still have medication and awaiting overall outcome) was because of pain r/t ear & eye infection. I paid $306 to leave with only eye antibiotic ointment. It would have been way more but I declined several tests. It feels like the focus was on testing and getting as much money as possible verses helping the dogs symptoms. In comparison the Emergency Vet diagnosed my dog in minutes without all of this extra stuff, and I left with ear antibiotics, treatment for motion sickness, and nausea...and only paid $10 more than this visit. I'm am literally sick to my stomach about this and MY DOG IS STILL IN PAIN...with only ear ointment.

I have a very anxious German Shepherd/Husky mix and the reception staff, vet techs, and veterinarian were so professional, kind, and knowledgeable. Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Paul Curasi has been our vet for over 20 years. University Animal Hospital has been there for us through thick and thin. Dr.Curasi and Dr. Privette and all of the techs and staff are so caring, so knowledgeable and always give our dogs their full attention whenever we have to go in, whether it's for routine visits or emergencies. I can't imagine taking our pets anywhere else. I highly recommend them to anyone searching for a family vet who really cares and really has the experience and facilities to give your animals the best care available.

Experiencia fantástica: Adopted a sick stray cat back in February and spent thousands over 10 months at Banfield for this cat to stay sick. One visit here and they gave him the attention and correct medication necessary for him to be 90% better within two weeks. Haven't even been to the followup checkup yet, but they called to confirm everything was going well, and to ask if I had any questions. Experiencia fantástica: The Vet and assistants all took care of my dog very well. They show no bias to breeds and treat each animal differently to ensure they are comfortable, since we all know each animal has its own personality. Experiencia fantástica: I took my almost 2 year old dachshund who is really nervous to her appointment yesterday for vaccines and a nail trim. Dr.Basso and her team were excellent and very understanding of her nervousness. I’ve never been a vet where the Dr actually took their time to stay in the room to answer any questions and even sat on the floor with treats to try to get Molly to come around. They never made me feel like I was being rushed which I’m happy about, I’ve visited other offices where it’s a quick in and out so that they can take in more patients. I’m really happy I found this place, before I left I scheduled another appointment for my new puppy Winston. I really recommend this place.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Sherri Basso is above any veterinarians we have experienced in and around Orange and Seminole counties. She is thorough, very patient, and loves her work, without judgement or arrogance. Experiencia fantástica: Update My boy went over the rainbow Bridge. They got me in immediately after he had a seizure. They let me take time with him and really go through the options. Dr Basso sat with me, hugged me (as did other staff) and were completely comforting (as much as us possible in these situations). They are incredible. Great service. They always try to get you in quickly. They helped treat my 14 year old min pin with serious health conditions. He was, it appeared, dying. They got him in that day and got him rehydrated, o2 to help his breathing, and a new heart medicine that helps his heart pump better. Other doctors hadn't ever prescribed it, but Dr Basso did. She is compassionate. She saw how upset I was and just took time with me. It was genuinely touching. They are great with refills. Calling in to refill is easy. I highly recommend them. They offer wellness plans, too. Best vet choice I've made. My little guy is still going. I know his time is limited, but I know he's receiving the best care here,too. Dr Basso.... the best.

Experiencia fantástica: Nothing but good experiences! I have been bringing my dog here for both routine and last minute/emergency visits over the past year and I can confidently say that my mind is at ease when they are caring for him. He is a very nervous boy with some chronic health issues concerning his heart, which is very scary for me, but bringing him here really makes me feel like he is getting the best vet care possible in the area. The vets seem to be very knowledgeable and I love the fact that they take their time to educate me about my dog's health at the end of every visit. Also, all the staff here are very sweet, so that's a plus. If you are in need of reliable veterinary care that truly cares about your animals(s), this is your place!

Experiencia fantástica: I highly recommend this place, they really go above and beyond for our fur babies. We had a scared yesterday with our dog Onyx and we rushed him to the hospital. A young man named Justin went above and beyond for us. In my eyes justin is a true Angel, he keep me calm over the phone and assured me that Onyx was gonna be ok. Thank God for Justin and the staff they really went above and beyond for our baby. He is doing much better today. He had bad allergies an received a few shots to get him well. Again I highly recommend University Animal Hospital to everyone. They will forever have my Onyx as a patient. Grateful and blessed to have them on our side when needed.

Experiencia negativa: Great staff, but we had to stop going for the price of Cytopoint. #1: They refuse to give you an estimate of the shot. The cost is based on weight, and all other vet offices will provide you with an estimate for the price. #2: The shot is $50 more at this vet. I have been to 3 different vets in the past year (my vet closed a little over a year ago), and all charge around $80. I brought this up, and I was told that if the company increases the price, then they have to charge more. I mentioned all other vets not only can tell me an estimated cost but don't charge as much. I was told that they are competitive with all of the vets in the area. I hope other customers check to make sure they are not being overcharged.

Experiencia fantástica: I needed to board my pup last minute and lucky me they had room. They require a pup check up of course to ensure your pup stays healthy. Then you drop your pup off for a play day to make sure he gets along with everyone. From there you drop off and pick up.

Experiencia fantástica: I love this vet. They are often able to get you in quickly when necessary. Their examination prices are reasonable and they offer you what tests they recommend but don't guilt trip you into doing anything you're not comfortable with. They obviously adore animals and it shows with how they treat your animal. They call to follow up and see how your pet is doing. And you do get to stay with your pet throughout the exam (unlike some other offices who still ask parents to stay in the vehicle during appointments). I have zero complaints!

Experiencia negativa: Every time I went there they charged over 400 dollars.... they were responsible for my cats death to to a botched surgery and then messed up my dogs medication leading to her immune system to go out of wack. I had to insist medication change and then my dog improved, but had to pay a couple of thousand dollars in test and they tried to make me feel like I was doing something wrong. Looking back i should have sued them. I think i will have a laywer look into malpractice suit might still sue them for making my dog sick. After i confronted them They sent me an email stating they would no longer see my dog. They constantly tried to up sell me on everything. They are not concerned with your animals health just your wallet.. Be aware! BTW the staff at the counter are rude and dismissive. For the most part they were rude. It truly felt as if your response to my cats Death is surprising since you told me you couldn't find his records.... and not taking responsibility for my dogs decline due to Dr. Privit lowering her medication to 4 MG which led to her immune system to go out of wack.... you ran test after test for a year and it's wasn't until I insisted her medication go back to 5 mg and then did she improve.. then You kept insisting on running blood test for 220 dollars... I had spent over 2000 dollars in test up to that point t. Feel free to post how much you have charged me in test in the last 3 years. Your pretending you were helpful is not accurate.. as well you counter staff are not very friendly and can be rude and dismissive. You terminated my dogs service because I refused to pay for another 220 dollar blood test. Plus you were constantly trying to up sell with everything... that is so unethical!

Experiencia fantástica: I neglected to write a review on University Animal Hospital, but as my father used to tell me, is Never too late. I visited the hospital ( It was the closest)with my 18 year Chihuahua when he suffered a stroke the doctor was at lunch he came over in less than five minutes, unfortunately “Little bit” left us that day. I paid my bill and when to my car and started to cry, a assistant or receptionist came to my car and asked me if I was okay I told her thank you and that I was fine. A few days later we received a card signed by the hospital staff and other small gifts that comforted my wife and I. I will never forget the humane treatment that we both received. THANK YOU.

Experiencia fantástica: University Animal Hospital has been caring for my pets for over 20 years and I am so thankful for the exceptional care that they have provided over the years. The reception staff (Justin, Lauren and Leilani) is very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Sherri Basso is my cat’s veterinarian. She is so dedicated to the care of her patients and takes the time to explain everything to you so that you fully understand. She goes out of her way to give you information handouts, websites, suggestions etc. pertaining to your pet’s health and care. I brought my cat to see Dr. Basso on Wednesday due to weight loss and not eating. She was so caring and ran only the necessary tests which determined he had eaten a foreign object and needed immediate care due to his bloodwork and condition. Marley had to be transferred to a 24/7 Emergency Animal Hospital for surgery and overnight care. Dr. Basso has called me twice a day to check on Marley and give me advice on how to care for him once he comes home. Dr. Basso is AMAZING! I highly recommend her and the entire staff at University Animal Hospital. They truly care about your pets (fur-children) and us parents! ❤️

Experiencia negativa: Very weird interaction doesn't seem like they care about their customers. I called after not receiving any notification about my dogs vaccines for over a year and 2 months. I was told that there was a change of address issue, which was the reason why a reminder was never sent out. While explaining my frustration, I was told to go somewhere else and just didn't seem like they're very charismatic about their customers. Ive taken one dog to the same place for 16 years laid him to rest there now I have a new puppy and all this hassle from the office even to go as far as to send me my records in the mail "for new vet" instead of just helping me set up an appointment and fixing the issues with the change of address. I mean, for god sakes I didn't change my address. Poor poor quality since new vet and management

Experiencia negativa: Brought my puppy in to get looked at for abdominal swelling and an abses. I was quickly ushered outside and was told my pup more than likely had parvo (he didn't). I was told I wouldn't be able to be seen until I paid $200 to get the test. Long story short, he had a simple infection and DID NOT have parvo (go figure). While the staff member was polite and professional, when I asked if she could look at the abses to see how concerned I should be (new dog owner), she told me she couldn't diagnose anything because she wasn't a doctor. Yet I was ushered outside after she falsely diagnosed my dog with parvo. I was dismissed and the staff wouldn't look at the paperwork I had. Needless to say, I found better care for my little guy.

Experiencia positiva: I’ve taken both of my cats to this place for about 2 years and i will say they charge way too much. I did appreciate the comfortable room with a noise machine and open window that calmed my cat. But i recently took my senior cat in for a simple senior wellness exam. They tried to charge me an extra $70 to sedate my cat to get bloodwork from her because the vet was clearly scared of her even though this was the best my cat has ever behaved. I declined the sedation since they have done her bloodwork before without sedation so the techs got it done fairly quickly. I also asked multiple times for a nail trimming but it was brushed off and they told me my cat wouldn’t let them though there was no attempt made (it’s been done before) What was supposed to be a simple exam turned into a $975 bill that i could not even afford half of. And they push multiple medications onto me that i didn’t see necessary. Even with just 3 services, I had an almost $400 bill. I will be going to a different vet from now on. Vets should not be scared of their own patients. I thought they were trained to do this?

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my elderly cat here unexpectedly when he was sick and was treated with such compassion and care. Amanda the vet tech and Dr Alison were great with my cat and very caring and thorough. He’s already doing better after being sick for several days and in and out of his regular vet. Experiencia negativa: Would not see my injured cat because she was past due on rabies, even though I expressed I didn't feel comfortable vaccinating a sick cat and I would be happy to do it after she was healed. No one told me of their zero marging policy when I made the emergency appointment. A waste of time and I could've gone to another vet willing to work with me.

Experiencia fantástica: We took our senior husky there for an initial appointment. The entire experience was wonderful. It was extremely easy to set up an appointment on their website and fill out the necessary paperwork before coming in. The staff was very welcoming and made our anxious dog feel comfortable (they even brought a blanket for him to lay on while we waited). Dr. Basso is absolutely fantastic - she took her time to fully examine our dog, answer our questions, discuss the plan with us thoroughly so we could make informed decisions. She also followed up lab and radiology results with us on the phone the following day and proceeded to have a long discussion about all the other differentials regarding our dog's symptoms. Overall, the office has been very helpful and communicative and we feel that we received personalized care by a knowledgeable provider and staff. Would highly recommend this clinic and Dr. Basso!

Experiencia fantástica: I am always really happy with the level of care my pets receive when I take them to University Animal Hospital. Everyone, and I mean everyone on staff is polite, kind, and professional. My pets have gotten their vaccines here, one of them has been neutered here, and they've been treated for other minor health issues and each time the experience is wonderful and the pricing is so reasonable. My dog recently was seen by Dr. Sonal Patel and I was so happy with the doctor's knowledge, friendly demeanor, and the way mine and my daughter's questions were answered. Highly suggest taking your fur babies to University Animal Hospital.

Experiencia fantástica: ..it started with my phone call to schedule an appointment and ended with the tech cashing me out when finished.... these people are amazing... the passion they show caring for your pet and the courtesy they have for the customer...on the phone and in person.... truly genuine...I appreciate and respect that..(even made me a little jealous that my dog Junior was all cuddling up to the tech when she was checking him).... just kidding.... but he did take a liking to her and the Dr. Dr. Patel and her staff take their time explaining your pets condition....pros and cons...she also called me the following day after she had consulted with a colleague about a concern she had regarding his treatment... they prove to honestly care...also... their fees are very fair.... seriously... you won't be disappointed.. you can trust them with your ""baby""... so grateful..so thankful...

Experiencia fantástica: We’ve been going to University Animal Hospital for a few years already. I’ve had appointments with all the vets at some point but our current vet that we see regularly is Dr. Patel. Everyone in this office is so knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. We really love coming here and we’re never left feeling like they don't care!

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing experience. I was desperately looking for somewhere to bring my Pomeranian on a very short notice, and the front staff was so helpful in getting me an appointment within 20 minutes that same day. The staff here is so kind, welcoming, and really care about your fur baby. Dr. Patel listened to every concern I had and was very thorough in examining my Pom. Will be back for all future check ups!

Experiencia fantástica: While I admittedly have not taken my fur babies here, I certainly would if we lived closer. My vehicle experienced an unexpected flat tire just outside the clinic and hobbled into the parking lot. The friendly staff lent a sympathetic ear to my situation and Dr. Sherri Basso didn’t hesitate to offer to drive me down the road to pick up my child from school! She allowed me to install my booster seat in her vehicle and made sure we were safe and comfortable. I can only imagine the care she provides to families she knows when I’ve witnessed the immediate kindness she showed a total stranger.

Experiencia fantástica: The entire staff was so welcoming and very understanding. My dog has a condition that is specific to Arizona, but when I moved here, I felt totally confident in Dr basso handling my dog Humphrey. I was also emotional because the last time we were in a vet office it was for our dog Louie. It was very hard and the staff was very compassionate. They also got Humphrey in for bloodwork late in the day so I didn’t have to make a trip back. 5 stars and 5 tail wags!!!!!
