Positive experience: I would give them a five star but I waited for quite some time before my pet was seen. I was just ready to get out and go home. They treated my Joey with respect and kindness.

Fantastic experience: Very nice staff and we were seen right away. They were gentle with my dog.

Fantastic experience: Our geriatric dog got tangled up in our younger dog's leash and snapped something in his backeg. He couldn't put any weight on it at all and it was swollen. I called the vet we've been with for 25 years, and was told they could see him in 10 days. I explained that, while this was not a life or death emergency, it is most certainly urgent. Again I was told that was the best they could do. I called around and found a friendly and concerned woman at ABQ Pet Care Hospital. She said they could get him in that afternoon. While there my dog was extremely nervous. They were so good with him, gentle, took their time. Tests showed it was "just" a.soft tissue or muscle tear, nothing that needed surgery or casting. They also did a cold laser treatment on his leg. Immediately he started putting a toe's weight on that leg! The vet explained everything to us, walked us through options depending on how he progresses this week. Offered that we could come back for a couple more cold laser treatments. To top everything off, the bill was lower than expected. I can't thank the staff at ABQ Pet enough. This boy is my retired service dog, soul dog, and they helped me breathe so much easier.

Positive experience: When we lost our vet when they closed, we where happy with the service that our baby received here. Leland & his parents are very thankful to the staff @ ABQ Pet Care for their help on 2/13. It's hard to trust our senior baby who is 92 in cat years, with just anyone.

Fantastic experience: I adopted pets in March of 2020. ABQ cared for my last kitty for 20 years! Who better to care for my new fur family. The vets and assistants make time to really talk to you. They work with you to find options. All through the pandemic they cared for us. I’m so grateful and very pleased with the service. A big plus is the pet portal where you can keep up with what your pets need. Its 2026 and this is my vet!

Fantastic experience: The only vet I will go to going forward. The vet Laura krogman literally saved my 10 week old pup from death. He was 3 days into having parvo and she ran blood tests and prescribed exactly what was needed to pull him out of it. She wasnt money hungry like most vets in Albuquerque minimized only the expenses needed for him to recover. I highly recommend this place 10 out of 10

Fantastic experience: The entire team here was totally engaged and communicated perfectly. My 5 month old puppy swallowed a huge piece of wood and needed surgery. The post surgery instructions were a lot but they were very well laid out and explained! Dr. Ortiz performed the surgery and saved Bruno’s crazy little life. I cannot say enough good things about this group of people. Smart, responsive, friendly, funny, and most importantly, down to earth! Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: My pet was spayed. The staff provided great care for my dog and they communicated perfectly regarding her care. I appreciated their thoroughness.

Negative experience: This place pushes labs and other diagnostics. When I wanted an X-ray to rule out pad grit vs corns they came back with 4 X-rays read by a radiologist ($435) gabapentin, anti-inflammatories, and antibiotics. My visit was going to be over $835. I told the vet how I’ve been treating my hound with a corn and she said they didn’t recommend that here before I could even finish explaining. I said I know you don’t! I’m so sick of these corporation owned vet clinics that price gouge you with labs and X-rays! I will not be returning to this clinic! They didn’t even do a thorough exam …no temperature was taken. And if you’re going to automatically charge for medical waste then you should just include that in the exam fee! There was no “medical waste” with my hound! Very disappointed!

Negative experience: Seemed more interested trying to sell treatment, starter dog medication than give advice. Came in for a dog that was bloating. Before the veterinarian came to consult on the situation a nurse was handing me a X ray quote of nearly $600. I get the advised by a vet that showed no confidence in her examination of my dog or herself. But was happy to upsell deworming and probiotics. Unless it’s an emergency, I wouldn’t come here again. Take the 30 min drive and go to los Lunas animal clinic. Their outside hours emergency procedure visit fees are cheaper than 3:00 pm on a Thursday walk in. They give thought out sound advice not a flow chart of generic possibilities.

Fantastic experience: So thankful for ABQ Pet Care! I love the way they actually examine the dog in our presence - and so skillfully! Our dog was examined by ABQ Pet Care while thinking he was playing on the floor with the vet. A few hugs, now here's the stethoscope, a treat, ok let me look in your ears. He was having a great time the whole exam LOL - perfect! I'll be making the >30 minute drive here b/c it's soooo worth it to have vets who are in tune with the animals. Appointment booking was easy, the vet tech was a good communicator and efficient, the receptionist had her act together, all around great experience. We love our pets and we appreciate the TLC. Thank you ABQ Pet Care! And as a followup, the expertise of the staff is apparent no matter what species of animal we have brought to the clinic and across many different problems (dental, physical, behavioral, etc). The staff is caring and professional, and Dr. Ortiz did an amazing job addressing my concerns and explaining the procedure for my little (3 lb) rabbit. Most importantly, Roger received incredible care during and after his surgery, and is doing well back home! Fantastic experience: My cat Pumpkin was having some problems with her eye, it was aggitated and a bit swollen. The Vet made time for me that day and was able to get Pumpkin in later that day, both the Vet and the tech were very helpful, informative, and calming with both me and Pumpkin. Everything, including prices, was explained before hand and treatment was quick. After some tests to make sure everything looked good they found the cause and gave me some drops for Pumpkins eye and everything cleared up within a few days. Could not reccomend enough, I will ve taking Pumpkin back for her regular care and any other pets in the future. A wonderful team of wonderful people! Thank you all for the help!

Fantastic experience: This place really goes above and beyond for you and your pets. I brought my dog in a couple months ago for a gland issue and they took amazing care of her. Unfortunately we had to send her over the rainbow bridge 2 weeks ago and their office was so incredibly kind and accommodating to my family and I, they gave us the space and comfort to say goodbye to our sweet old lady and were very informative of the whole process. Today I got a card in the mail with notes from the staff about how sorry they are for our loss. This place is amazing! Highly highly recommend!!!

Fantastic experience: This is actually a 1 star review, I just need it to be seen. Me and my girlfriend are very bitter with the results we ended up with for the cremation. The services were good, the vets were very comforting and helpful but when we asked to have our cat cremated, we asked for a nose print, the ashes, and a paw print. I gave them a number to call specifically instead of the one in the system. We were notified through the number in the system instead of the number i asked for. We recieved the ashes and paw print but did NOT receive the nose print AND they spelt our cat's name wrong. Didn't even double check to see if they had spelt it right.

Fantastic experience: I have rescued an abused 4 year old dog who lived his life on one of our reservations! He is afraid of most people and has a bad startle reflex! He was a mess of nails ready to curl under, needing a physical and overall exam! I found that not all Vets offer service for problem dogs! Abused, or very aggressive dogs need to be sedated! I stopped by to see about it and they set me up with an appointment for the next day! Everything was great! After my Vet retired I bounced around Vets, not happy with the different ones I tried! I think I may have found a home for my service dog and my rescued guy! The dog and I were well treated by the entire staff! Our Vet, Loren Ortiz was great! Very thorough and was thoughtful and informative to Monty's health. I got a complet one stop service! Fully checked out, nails clipped, and coat cut. None of it added to his stress! This form did not allow me to give full info!

Negative experience: Very rude staff. Was 15 minutes (which is the allowed window) late to my appointment due to living far and car accident . And was an emergency to see my dog. And they wanted to charge me $150 just to see my dog. Talk about profit over the care of the animal. Doctors are great there. Front desk sucks, unfortunately

Negative experience: Worst vet I’ve ever been to. Won’t deal professionally. Charge to get a written prescription. Won’t contact prescription providers. I think they do this so you’ll eventually give up and eventually purchase their overpriced prescription.

Fantastic experience: The vet was kind and concerned. We got in immediately. The vet and her assistant even gave our cat his first dose of meds for us. We will definitely use this clinic as our primary care for our pets.

Negative experience: I would not recommend ABQ Pet Care Hospital for pet dental care. My yorkie and I arrived bright and early for a 7:30 am appointment, with the promise of a call when he was ready. Hours passed in silence. By late afternoon, I called for an update and learned the procedure was only halfway done. Finally, at 6:15 pm, I was told the dental work could not be completed because of my pet’s high blood pressure. After twelve long hours at the hospital, my dog received no treatment, yet I was still billed $250 plus a consult fee of $85. I will not be utilizing this facility for any pet care in the future. Things were not adding up on the explanation regarding the inability to complete the scheduled services.

Negative experience: If I could I'll do a 0 star, I'd call them saying my dog had an eye infection,if they could possibly see her on the same day,they said if I could make it before 3,30 they will be able to squeeze her in . I requested to leave my job early and speed up over there walking with my dog since my car broke .Got there right at 3 just to be told 15 minutes later they weren't able to see her because they were full and I needed to get there before 3. To be my first time ever at that clinic, and probably my last one.Before everything they were very clear about $150 up front due to do not have an appt + all of the other services they were supposed to do ,my first impression has been utterly deceiving to be honest. An eye infection doesn't take too much time to just prescribe some eye drops ... They clearly didn't want to help me even though I'd mention I left work early and I had to walk over there,so no compassion or empathy at all

Fantastic experience: We have a large dog and she doesn’t love coming in but the staff are always friendly and understanding. We started going during the pandemic when she was a puppy and we always appreciate the care and attention they pay to her. We also appreciate the pricing is fair and not outrageous like others can be.

Negative experience: Waited over an hour after my scheduled appointment for my sick dogs before deciding to just go to somewhere else. No one came to check on them, get vitals/ history, or give updates on timeline. Exams for each dog were $100 before putting in for any other tests/ exams. They also wanted me to bring a stool sample without providing me any of the proper storage materials or instructions. Make sure you have a lot of money and extra time when you schedule with this clinic.

Fantastic experience: Tanner had his first appointment with Dr. Hennessy since I adopted him from the City’s Eastside shelter a week ago. The front office staff is very friendly and professional. Dr. Hennessy is very knowledgeable and was thorough in her exam. She asked me questions about Tanner and addressed my concerns. I’m so happy to establish him as a patient knowing his health will be treated in a wholistic method as he ages.

Fantastic experience: On short notice ABQ was able to successfully treat my terrier. The treatment involved dealing with a very serious head infection. Dr. Ortiz did an excellent job in resolving the illness then, and in subsequent treatements. I believe their pricing structure is fair and reasonable. I greatly appreciate the treatments provided by ABQ and will readily recommend their staff.

Fantastic experience: We needed to get our dog seen for an ear that was bugging him. On Friday I was able to make an appointment for Monday. When we arrived the woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful getting our dog checked in. We didn't wait very long for a room and shortly after someone was with us. Our dog was very nervous and they were patient with him and made him feel comfortable. The Dr answered all my questions and made me feel confident about the care plan. Also, the price was very reasonable compared to other places in town. Thank you all for making something that can be so nerve wracking such a pleasant experience.

Fantastic experience: My pet had a foot injury and I was able to get an appointment same day. The vet was thorough and took her time examining my baby. She performed services that were appropriate and told we what options were available and ones I should avoid because they weren't needed. Fantastic experience: I used to go to VCA but I didnt feel like the vet there was listening to my concerns. Once I moved my pets over here ABQ Pet Care’s vets and staff have been very helpful and I am insanely appreciative of all of the effort and care that they put in to each other patients!

Negative experience: 1st experience I scheduled an appointment online. They said that they had no record of it, and charged me extra as a walk in. 2nd experience they emailed me stating that my pet was due for her yearly exam. So I booked an appointment. Then when I get there they tell me I am a month early. They did not explain well enough what was needed, did not explain the prices. Felt like they were just trying to gouge me for unnecessary reasons.

Fantastic experience: Super kind and informative! I saw DVM Hennessy and she gave me very informative and helpful advice on helping me with my cat, and was quick to resolve and follow up on my anxieties with my cat. I was able to make a next-day appointment, and was seen within minutes of arrival.

Fantastic experience: The hospital was clean and spacious. Fortunately, we were able to schedule an appointment same day. The staff were extremely kind and gentle with our baby. I loved how quick they were with the blood work and urinalysis. They were understanding of our financial situation. Since our visit, the team were communicative. Fantastic experience: So thankful for abq pet care! My 22 year old box turtle was attacked by my dog Sunday evening and I was scrambling to find a vet to see her asap. They got me in within an hour of calling them Monday morning and I was in and out of the office within 45 minutes. I felt like my turtle got knowledgeable care & I am go grateful. Fantastic experience: I took my cat to abq petcare because he had stopped eating . The people there were very good with him and made a diagnosis. Fantastic experience: I recently relocated here & hadn’t set up veterinarian care yet. I coulsnt get my dog in anywhere! They were extremely helpful and explained that I may have a long wait as a walkin, but reassured me that my dog would be seen. From the front desk to the vet, I felt like we were in good hands! Even though I went in for 1 immediate concern, the vet gave him a full checkup and prescribed meds for yeast infection and allergy meds in addition to the main concern. She explained that they were too busy to remove the growth but made sure we were able to get him early the next week. Was it worth the emergency cost…absolutely!

Fantastic experience: My 40+ year old turtle was attached by a raccoon. I called 5 veterinary clinics which each said they could not take an emergency. The 5th clinic referred me to ABQ Pet Care and I am so thankful they did. They were able to get us in as soon as I could be there. Dr. Ortiz evaluated the situation which, as I suspected, was extremely bad. The damage caused by the raccoon was so severe the only option was euthanasia. She explained that it is a bit different with turtles, apologizing for the news that it would not be an immediate death, but assuring me that she would watch her closely until death occurred. She explained that they do not give the injection with the pet owner present because it isn't as easy as it is with say a dog or cat. The entire staff was extremely compassionate allowing me as much time as I wanted to spend with Myrtle before they took her to begin the process. Losing a pet is never easy, but it certainly helps when the veterinary staff is as kind and helpful as Dr. Ortiz and her staff. I am so grateful that they were willing to see us literally, immediately so that Myrtle's suffering could be stopped. I highly recommend ABQ Pet Care to anyone in search of a good veterinary clinic!

Fantastic experience: I had such a great experience here! I brought my gecko who had a swollen eye. The vet had to remove a mass from his eye and send home antibiotics and another ointment. The entire visit plus medicine was less than $300 which I thought was a reasonable price. The staff is so kind and knowledgeable. I will be bringing the rest of my pets here. I would 100% recommend this place to friends and family.

Negative experience: Dr young has been such an incredible vet and wonderful to our dogs Mack and mila. She saved milas life when she had an obstruction back in 2019 and has been nothing short of amazing. This review is not about her but her awful and uncompassionate staff. Dr young recently got us in for an emergency appointment because Mack was having seizures. His seizures have continued and when I called today to see what the next option should be and to possibly try to get him some anti seizure meds/have him examined as an emergency appointment dr young was unavailable so Dr Ortiz flat out refused to see us or even look at him she was completely unwilling to help at all even after explaining the situation to her over and over. Passing us on to thrive like an inconvenience to her was never something I’d expect from any one who works here but that was our heartbreaking experience today.

Fantastic experience: I have been taking both my ferrets, Nora and Burt, here since I adopted them. As ferrets age, they can become predisposed to so many diseases. Toward their 5th year of life, they seemed to be there every week. Either one or the other. This last time, it was my Burt boy. Dr. Young discovered a large tumor and rearranged her entire schedule for surgery. Well, my boy died before surgery. His sick body just couldn't handle the anesthesia. He was a lot sicker than we thought. Dr. Young has always done right by us and our little fuzz butt's. They are our family members, and Dr. Young and her staff treated us and our fuzz butt's that way as well. Even though Burt passed, we still have our Nora, and we are glad Burt isn't suffering anymore. It was a last-ditch effort to save him, and he just wasn't up to the task. Fantastic experience: Thank you to all the staff at ABQ Pet Care Hospital. They saved our baby boy “Buddha” life. When I took him in he was lethargic, dehydrated and after having blood tests and x rays done his intestines were swollen and he ended up having parvo. He was given meds and antibiotics and after a couple days, we’re pleased to say our baby boy Buddha is all better now and back to health! I recommend this place and will definitely be back if needed.

Fantastic experience: ABQ pet care was able to see my dog as a walk in. Paid a fee $150 it was worth it since my yorkie was bleeding when she was pooping. I could not wait another week for appointment. I am very happy with how quick they took care od her. Thank you, Alicia

Fantastic experience: I had an initial visit for my dog. Wait time was short. Everyone was great. They worked well with my dog who is pretty anxious. The price was fair. No pushing for a bunch of extras.

Fantastic experience: The entire staff was so professional, compassionate and caring when I had to make the tough decision for my pup Daisy. I’ll forever be thankful to them for making Daisy’s last moments with us humane, calm and peaceful.

Fantastic experience: Great experience! Our golden retriever was ailing and in distress. Doctor diagnosed root cause was pneumonia after conducting thorough tests and evaluation. Entire staff was professional, kind and considerate. Prescription meds after 72 hrs. appear to be working nicely. Follow up phone call from staff was reassuring and much appreciated. Very grateful to all at ABQ Pet Care. Very well done!

Negative experience: I had an incredibly disappointing experience with ABQ Pet Care. I scheduled an appointment two weeks in advance for my kitten to be neutered, and even took time off work to make it. On the day of the appointment, just hours before, I received a call saying it was canceled due to an emergency. While I understand emergencies happen, I found it unacceptable that an appointment I had waited weeks for and rearranged my schedule around was canceled without any attempt to reschedule me sooner. I asked for a manager to call me back, but by the end of the day, I still hadn't heard anything. When I called to follow up, I was told no note had been left about my request, and that the manager had already left for the day. To make matters worse, when I asked to speak with someone who could explain why my appointment wasn't prioritized, I was connected to a staff member named Eva, who was extremely rude and dismissive. She hung up on me after I tried to express my frustration. It's now over two weeks later, and I still haven’t received a call from anyone at the clinic. I will not be returning to this vet and would not recommend them to anyone. Their lack of communication, disregard for my time, and rude treatment of customers are unacceptable

Negative experience: I called ahead of time to get an estimate of cost for our cat to be seen and get neutered. We did actually have some concerns for our cat that we were hoping to get addressed during the initial appointment that I was told was needed. The “estimate” from the veterinarian was $500 more than what I was told. Sure, I can understand it being a bit more to address the concerns, but $1000 to neuter a cat is INSANE. After writing everything out on the form given and going over everything with the tech that came in, the veterinarian proceeded to ignore our questions and act like we were inconveniencing her when we didn’t understand what she was trying to say. There were no suggestions to help with the concerns, just money money money. We have no intention of going there again, that’s for sure!

Negative experience: This place is very expensive. The vet techs will try to charge you the most money. I asked for heartworm medicine and they sold me the tick and heartworm medicine (which is 4x as expensive). When i asked to return it, they wouldn't. They only want your money and will recommend the most expensive procedures!!!!!!! My first appointment i booked they canceled on me once i got there. Since they moved to the new location and the new owners took charge, they only care about how much money they can take out of you. Please don't use.

Fantastic experience: Everyone at ABQ Petcare was extremely pleasant. The doctor was great and knowledgeable. The only thing I would say is it’s hard to get ahold of them by phone. Otherwise a very positive experience.

Fantastic experience: The only vets I truly trust with my babies! The wait is never bad almost always in and out and treatment is amazing we take all 3 of our corgis and cats. We have had appointments with all of the doctors and each one has been great even front desk staff are amazing!
