Fantastic experience: Our pup has to be sedated to be groomed, as he's fairly jumpy and tries to bite the clippers. Barbour Lane has been such a blessing. We now get haircuts at least twice yearly, and there's no dread on our part. The groom job is always exactly as asked, and we don't complain about individual long hairs or missed spots as it's SO much better than when we do it. Thank you, Barbour Lane!

I would have lost my mind long ago if it weren’t for how they care so endlessly. Casey loves to visit everyone when we take a trip here (I drive over 25 minutes to Barbour Lane because they are the best!) and although Twitch is more distressed when he visits, the staff treats him with the same love and affection as Casey! It means the world to me that my pets are so cared for and I couldn’t thank this clinic enough for what they do. We love you all so much!

It was such a great experience that I opted to continue using them when I adopted another kitty who had previously been with them. Anytime you call the office to inquire about something or to ask a question about your pet, the staff is friendly and caring and gives you the information right away or asks the Dr and they always follow up with a response. I have used this Vet for end of life care, annual wellness checks, grooming, and most recently surgery. I would recommend this Veterinary with no hesitation. Fantastic experience: I came here out of frustration with other grooming facilities. My fur baby Wendy went to Petco fir grooming and I was told nit to bring her back, that she needed sedation to be groomed. I took her to Hurstbourne animal hospital where they sedated her and did so for about a year until the pandemic hit and they did away with their grooming facilities. I then went to St. Matthew's animal hospital and they gave her sedation pills and they said she tried to bite the groomer and never answered my calls after that. I searched animal hospitals again, because of the need for sedation and found this place. I felt like I was in a dream, everyone was so nice, almost too nice...lol. I inquired about grooming and then in walks Sam. I told her about Wendy's history and she said "would you mind I'd I tried without sedation?" I wasn't sure given her past report cards. But Sam had an aura about her, so easy and calm. I said that would be awesome as Wendy is a senior dog and I worry about all that sedation. A few hours later I get a text to come get her. I arrived to find her excited and energetic. Sam said she did great, no problems just didn't like her feet messed with, like most dogs. Just got back from 2nd grooming and the outcome was the same. I booked this last appointment 2 months ago thinking I could get her in quickly, but Sam has a waiting list because she is that good. We have now pre-booked our grooming for the rest of the year. I am now considering taking Wendy there for all her veterinary care. These people seem to really love what they do. The place is happy, professional, caring, and personal....so rare these days. THANK YOU BARBOUR LANE! and thanks for all the money you are saving me from the cost of sedation.

Fantastic experience: My animals are EVERYTHING. Like I am one of the people that would not come out of a burning building without my animals. Like I am the person lobbying for a DB to track people who abandon/abuse animals with forced registration so that they can't ever adopt or have anything to do with animals again. Keep that in mind with reading this review. My mom knows how I am about my babies. I was recommended by her, an endowed chair at University of Louisville to take my animals to Barbour Lane Animal Hospital upon moving to Louisville. I only mention her position to say that she sees & talks to ALOT of people as part of her job. She told me that all the professors & students that have pets & they take them there as the Vets are amazing. People drive from South Louisville & downtown up to Barbour Lane Animal Hospital to get the best care for their fur babies. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Animal Hospital for sooooo many reasons: 1. The STAFF (front desk folks, techs, vets, and resident cats) are super friendly and it is clear from the minute you walk in that they CARE deeply about animals & their clients and are super passionate about what they do. 2. Both Vets are phenomenal. Dr. Mary O'Grady was who I saw first (although, I was told by many people they trust & love both vets so they book with either based on availability). This is so helpful & allows for more flexibility for those with busy schedules. 3. The way they schedule appointments is so efficient & personable. What I mean is that when you drive up you are the only one at that time. It is like a personal dedicated hospital (front desk, Vet time, and check out) for you & your pets. 4. The prices will not BREAK the bank and are soooo reasonable for the care & attention. I had put off professional vet brushing of my feline babies because I was petrified of them not waking up from the anesthesia; especially my older cats (not even being dramatic as I cancelled at other vets in TX multiple times). You can see I am a handful and full of anxiety. The staff here IMMEDIATELY gave me positive vibes & for the FIRST time in years, I let my felines "go under" for cleaning by Dr. O'Grady. They were patient (the amazing Tech & Dr. O'Grady) with me by explaining the expected process, timing, and after care...multiple times. They also called me the second the surgery / cleaning was over to inform me that my kitties were out & did amazing. They send you home with personalized instructions & personable notes about each animal. This is truly an amazing facility and we are so lucky to have them here in Louisville!!! Fantastic experience: Drs Townsend and O’Grady began caring for my parents many, and I mean many, cats and dogs in 1992 (I think; may have been earlier than that). Now, they care for the dogs of my parents’ children- my two dogs and my brother’s one. That’s a multi-generational testament to superlative care. And this unqualified endorsement extends to everyone at Barbour Lane Animal Hospital, all of whom are caring professionals. I can’t recommend this practice enough. Run, don’t walk, there, and bring your furry family member and experience the same level of wonderful care that my family has had for 30 plus years.

Fantastic experience: Another great experience with Barbour Lane Animal Hospital. We utilized online scheduling for an allergic skin rash in our cat, Sadie. They were able to get us in the next day for a Saturday appt. The front desk and staff are knowledgeable and compassionate as are both Dr. O’Grady and Dr. Townsend. Fantastic experience: They went out of there to accommodate my sick dog. After ultra sound discovered tumor on my 11yr old wiener dog. They are doing surgery on him on Friday to remove his spleen. They are doing all of this in 5 days time. My old vet would take 2 or 3 weeks to do this.Time is critical for this. You could not ask for a better response for my dogs problem.Hopefully his outcome will be positive. Could not ask for a better experience with this vet. Thank you Dr. O’Grady.

All of the staff and both of the vets have done an excellent job in making us feel welcome, answering all of our questions, and addressing our concerns. Our oldest golden retriever is in the best health he’s ever been in thanks to Dr. O Grady and Dr. Townsend. Recently, we had to put one of our animals down, and Dr. O Grady was a saint in the process. She handled it in such a way that we knew it was the right decision and she was very comforting and supportive. The staff even sent us a condolences card that we appreciated so much. I was able to book an appointment online (since it was late at night when I got around to it, that was convenient for me) and get in quickly. The staff I met (Bre, Madison, and Dr. O’Grady) were all friendly, helpful, informative and caring. They took the time to be sure my dog was comfortable them and gave him his booster shots, drew bloodwork, and even trimmed his nails for me! I felt the cost was fair and reasonable. So glad we have found such a good vet!

Fantastic experience: I absolutely Love Barbour Lane Animal Hospital! I've been taking my pets there for 20 years and have ALWAYS been happy with the care they received. They are extremely caring.

Fantastic experience: We live right down the road and love how convenient and quick Barbour Lane is. We love Dr O’Grady and Dr. Townsend and everyone that works there is wonderful with our pups Vinny and Sophie. We were frequent flyers for a minute with one of our pups but they always work through whatever the health concern is!

Fantastic experience: This is by far one of the best veterinary places in Louisville. They treat your pets with kindness and compassion. They make it easy to get an appointment and the cost is reasonable. I refuse to take my boys anywhere else. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: efficient, through, caring. my girl had recently had her back leg repaired. 5 weeks after surgery she started yelling I’m out in pain when repositioning herself. I was really scared she had reinjured her surgery leg. I called, and they got us in the same day. The vet did detailed examination on all of her extremities & then took her to the lobby & watched her walk. He was able to determine that it was her front shoulder/leg that was injured, based on the upswing of her head before he placed the injured limp on the ground. He took the time to explain his finding to me. They did not attempt to upsale me anything. I was written scripts & the vet himself explained each medication to me & exactly when to give them & what to avoid while my girlie healed. The entire appointment maybe took around 15 minutes. There was no waiting in the lobby. It was a very nice change from the chain vets I typically find myself in. I’ll absolutely be returning.

Fantastic experience: Front desk staff is always so friendly and greet us as soon as we come in the door! Lindsey is THE BEST!!! She is so patient with Jaxon and his separation anxiety! She treats him, and me, with kindness and lets me walk part of the way back with Jaxon to ease his stress. Lindsey does such a fabulous job grooming Jaxon! He looks so handsome (and smells great)! We’re so lucky to have Barbour Lane Animal Hospital right in our neighborhood!
