Our comment from InfoVet about Pet Doctor 911:
Pet Doctor 911 is a well-known 24/7 emergency veterinary clinic in the United States that provides essential care to pets in urgent situations. Many clients have praised the clinic for the promptness and professionalism of the staff, noting that their pets receive compassionate treatment. Several reviews highlight positive experiences where pets were treated with care and concern during stressful moments.
However, there are significant concerns regarding pricing and wait times. While some clients appreciate the quality of care, others have voiced frustrations over high costs associated with procedures, feeling that the clinic capitalizes on its emergency services. Reports of long wait times, even for critical situations, have been highlighted as areas needing improvement.
Overall, Pet Doctor 911 remains a critical option for emergency veterinary care, especially given the lack of alternatives, but potential clients should be prepared for possible high costs and extended waiting periods.

Pet Doctor 911: Reviews
Fantastic experience: They took great care of my Roki on a Sunday, it was fast professional and they treated Roki like she was the most important dog in the world
Negative experience: Extremely over priced. Do not take your pet here. They are the only vet clinic open 24/7 and take advantage of that. Took my dog for an obstruction in the evening and they had him waiting for over two hours while he was laying on the floor in the waiting area drooling and breathing very rapidly because it “wasn’t an emergency”. One employee came to check on him and said he was unresponsive and took him to the back to finally be seen. He was unresponsive when we came in and we ultimately had to put him down after waiting so long. They charge $600 right off the bat for any emergency. An additional $200 something for cremation. My total came out to $1600 after other additional charges. I’ve lived in multiple different cities and this one by far is the most over priced I’ve been to.
Fantastic experience: My cat stayed with them for 48 hours and they were very communicative and explained everything with really good detail for us to understand how his progress was. Paid around $2,000 for a Urinary Catheter procedure, the 48 hour hospitalization, and medication.
Negative experience: Unfortunately this is the only place we could find in the valley open after hours. Yeah Went there with my girlfriend‘s dog that was in anaphylaxis And the only option was $15,000 to fix it or 1500 to put the dog out of her misery. The attending vet acted like she could care less. Don’t take your babies to these greedy unfeeling people.
Negative experience: if i could put zero stars i would. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!! The room we were put in to wait for the vet was GROSS dog and cat fur on the floor The vet didnt use gloves mind you touching his mouth to check his gums after putting meds in his butt ontop of that the front desk lady was extremely rude. Didnt want to give me a copy of the visit she insisted on emailing it to me with a whole printer behind her. awful place awful staff
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with Pet Doctor 911. The service was excellent and very quick, which really put me at ease. The vet took the time to explain everything in detail and answered all of my questions without rushing. Most importantly, I loved the way my dog, Mimi, was treated. She was handled with so much care, patience, and kindness. This truly made a difference. You can tell they genuinely care about animals and their owners. I highly recommend Pet Doctor 911 to anyone looking for compassionate and professional veterinary care.
Fantastic experience: I am beyond grateful for the team at this vet clinic. I came in with a very tight budget — just enough to cover the consult and one test, with the help of my siblings — I noticed my pup showing signs of sickness and immediately took her to the only 24/7 vet I know . When I received the news that she tested positive for parvo, I was absolutely devastated. Parvo is such a serious and deadly virus, and knowing I couldn’t afford full hospitalization broke my heart. I felt so scared and helpless when I was told it would be 50/50 trying to treat her at home. But the kindness and compassion this clinic showed me meant everything. The vet came back and blessed us with medications to give my baby the best possible chance to fight the virus at home. That support, understanding, and willingness to help despite my financial situation is something I will never forget. Thank you for treating us with empathy and for giving my puppy a fighting chance. I am so grateful.
Negative experience: i brought my cat in because she began to seem lethargic and no other vet was open. They were quick in attending my cat and staff were kind. i had to leave her a couple hours for some tests, which went well. When i picked her up they explained that they had given her the medication already and gave me instructions on how to give it to her. Once i got home i realized how drugged she was and nearly overdosed. The dose was too high and they had mixed the medication. I had to wait two days for it to wear off to try again. I lowered the dosage and only gave her one medication, which did help her thankfully. (it was also VERY pricey…)
Negative experience: Didn't want to bring my dog here initially because of the reviews, but I don't think he would have been able to comfortably make the 4 hour drive to a reputable 24hr vet in San Antonio. He has Chronic Kidney Disease. Dr. Ramirez was kind and sympathetic when she let us know he had to be hospitalized. Once the other shift took over and a new doctor was assigned to my furbaby, it's like all sympathy was gone. They sounded like we inconvenienced them over the phone. I mistakenly asked what the ultrasound results were, and their response was "it's an xray, not an ultrasound" in a 'matter of fact' tone.. okay, thanks? First red flag. 2nd, the most recent update that made me discharge him a day early (I wanted to hospitalize him for 48 hours initially) was when the doctor said "his kidneys are getting worse. You can either continue this or stop here." No explanation much on anything. Did not provide me any charts, xray findings, bloodwork, etc. Nothing. All they provided was vague wording like "yeah, not looking good". I had to come get a 2nd opinion at another urgent vet here in the valley, and that vet even said that keeping him hospitalized for 24 hours was not enough to assess whether or not his kidneys will improve. If you really cannot take your pet anywhere else, sure, go here.. but just beware that some of the staff could care less and they're money hungry. A $600 deposit has to be made if your pet id basically dying. You can't pay it upfront but can't also wait the 3-4 hour long wait for you to get a room? Good luck.
Negative experience: They charge an arm and a leg just to get seen, and their care is atrocious. I paid upwards of $3,000 and they couldn't even be bothered to let me know the results of my dog's lab tests. If it wasn't for this being the only 24/7 hour clinic available, they would be shutdown for how gross and uncaring they are. If you can make a 4 hour trip to San Antonio or Corpus, go there instead.
Positive experience: I took my cat to this 24/7 emergency clinic because I noticed him going to the bathroom more than usual, and we’ve had a history with urinary blockages in another cat, so I was understandably concerned. On the positive side, they saw him right away, and the vet was professional and thorough. She checked his bladder, which was soft, and explained that it probably wasn’t a blockage. The visit was quick, and there were no other patients in the waiting area. However, the recommendation to do nearly every possible procedure and treatment — including X-rays, ultrasound, multiple injections, and lab tests — was overwhelming, especially since his bladder was soft and he wasn’t showing the more serious symptoms I was worried about. The total estimate came to over $900, which felt excessive for the situation. I asked for her professional opinion on what was really necessary, but her advice was basically “let’s do everything,” and I decided to take him home against her wishes. Two weeks later, he’s perfectly fine. I understand emergency clinics need to prepare for serious cases, and they did act quickly and professionally, but for me, this felt more like over-treatment and overcharging rather than guidance. I’d say this clinic is good in an actual emergency, but for borderline cases or minor concerns, I would approach with caution.
Positive experience: We had to take our dog to Pet Dr.911 on a Friday night. As it is the only Vet clinic the has emergency hours. They examined our dog and got her back on the right tract. The biggest problem is it took 7 hours. I know they were busy but 7 hours is a long time. The front desk staff seems more interested in there television shows than the Clients. We suspected a UTI. And that is what is was. If we had not begged the front desk to get us something to collect urine in while we were just sitting and waiting we would have been there longer. They seemed a little disorganized. The price we thought was within range for late night emergency service
Negative experience: WARNING!!! BEWARE OF GETTING TOLD STABLE!!! IT MEANS LOW PRIORITY AND YOU WILL WAIT HOURS!!! If I could give zero stars, I would. I am writing this review to warn every pet owner who loves their animal as much as I love mine. What I experienced at PET DOCTOR 911 in McAllen was not just unprofessional — it was cruel, disorganized, and completely dismissive of urgent medical needs. I called at 9 PM to confirm they had space. I explained my cat was vomiting blood, hadn’t eaten in three days, and had already had bloodwork done at another clinic. I was told to come in, so I drove all the way from Brownsville to McAllen. I arrived around 10:30 PM and was told only four people were ahead of me. Someone briefly checked on my cat, and despite her symptoms, every other patient was taken in before us. Hours passed with no updates, no communication, nothing. At 1 AM, they finally told us to go inside — only for us to sit in a room until almost 3 AM with no one checking on us at all. No vet tech. No doctor. No update. No explanation. Nothing. When I asked the front desk for an estimated wait time, they repeated the same line over and over: “There are four people ahead of you.” Even after we had already been brought inside two hours earlier. The staff — mostly young vet techs who treated this like any other job — showed zero urgency, zero empathy, and zero professionalism. When we finally gave up and walked out after hours of being ignored, the girl at the front desk actually giggled and said, “Okay, you can leave,” as if my cat’s suffering was an inconvenience to them. As someone who treats her cat like her own child, this was heartbreaking. And after reading other reviews, I realized this wasn’t an isolated incident — it’s a pattern. The same neglect. The same lack of communication. The same dismissive attitude toward animals in distress. Please be warned: Their “urgent care” is false advertising. If they tell you your pet is “stable,” that is code for you will be pushed to the very end of the line, no matter how serious your concerns are. They do not communicate. They do not prioritize. They do not care. I would never want another pet owner to go through what I did. Please take your babies somewhere else.
Negative experience: If I could give no stars I would. I came to Pet Doctor 911 at 7 p.m. because my dog was passing blood and has a history of seizures. We waited for hours and he was never seen. This was clearly not a minor issue. When we chose to leave, the staff just said “okay,” showing no concern at all. It felt like they did not care about the seriousness of the situation or about our pet’s well-being. Mind you we live two hours away and to be treated this way was so wrong.
Negative experience: One star is pretty generous if you ask me. Over priced and they give unnecessary tests for you to end up paying your whole paycheck. Make sure to get to the point and tell them what you want because they will literally make you go broke. They just see money signs when people are walking in.
Negative experience: Worst place ever! Please for the love of god do not bring your pet here! This people do not care about you or your animal..... so much people have lost their beloved pet thanks to this place! All they want is your money, your dog to them is just an animal nothing else.
Negative experience: THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY ! I got there because my dog was having seizures they told me you have to give a 600 down I explained to her that I was gonna do the evaluation and that I was gonna go based on that they still got my dog off the truck and since I didn’t wanna pay the $600 down they brought my dog back outside still having seizures told me to wait two hours since I didn’t want to give those $600 to get him started When she brought the dog back, she said they gave him something to stop the seizures. The dog seizures never stopped. They actually got worse. Then they told me they had a room for the dog, and I went to the room with the dog While I was waiting for the tech, a guy came in and said can You do $200 down for consultation and medicine I got out but didn’t pay because consultation was 95$ so I was like 105 ? Of medicine that I haven’t seen mind you I was still not seen and not attended after a while a tech came in and she wanted to know what was going on with the dog. I explained to her what was going on with the dog and she told me that the dog had to stay 24 hours basically. like I said, it was a tech. The vet doctor never came inside to speak to me. The tech was telling me that it was $3000 just for hospital stay + $35 every time they inject medicine for 24 hours then she was telling me that she had to refer the dog to specialist which I told her that I didn’t have the money for it so best thing to do was put the dog down so she wouldn’t suffer . She said my bill was at 175 $ MIND YOU AFTER THAT GUY TRIED CHARGING ME 200 before ever seen . Then the doctor came in and put the dog down, but she never came in and consulted with me my options. Only the tech also When I went with the decision to put my dog down, she went to the back to go get me some paper papers to see the prices . They left the door a little bit open. I don’t know if they were talking about me or if they were talking about somebody else but more than likely it was Because I had just taken the decision to put my dog down In her words, she said I feel like they’re not trying hard enough for the dog. They could’ve made a go fund me for the dog. It was really unprofessional to hear that even if they weren’t talking about me and they were talking about somebody else they acted like they cared about the dog talking about make a GoFundMe when the doctor herself didn’t even come inside the room she never even came to tell me my options about the dog, The tech Told me this is no life for the dog even with medication he’s going to be getting seizure. The dog will never be same so I put her down .BE PREPARED BECAUSE IF YOU DONT HAVE MONEY THEY TREAT YOU LIKE CRAP . I PAID FOR A CONSULTATION WHERE A TECH SAW MY DOG NOT A VET ! PAID FOR MEDICINE THAT I DIDN’T SEE THEM GIVE HER I LIVE IN RIO GRANDE FROM MCALLEN SHE GOT 3 SEIZURE AFTER THE MEDICINE THEY SUPPOSABLY GAVE HER SHE HAD LIKE 40 IN THOSE 2 hrs waiting !LIKE I SAID SHE GOT WORST WITH WHAT THEY GAVE HER .!
Negative experience: Although you do appreciate having a 24-hour emergency veterinary clinic. You are definitely paying a super premium here. Very predatory. At least triple what my veterinarian cost. I would definitely steer clear if you have a choice.
Fantastic experience: This place is a 10/10. They took us in so quickly and the staff are very kind and very professional! I 100% recommended this place!! I'm forever grateful for everything they did for my Milo! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Negative experience: Killed my cat brought her in to be saved yet realized it would’ve been better to let her pass at home. Still Got charged almost 1k and they were so focused into getting payment instead of focusing on my pet. Just cause it’s 24 hr doesn’t mean the service is good. Atp It’s literally safer to search up your pets symptoms & buy prescriptions yourself or waiting for another vet to open than to go to this place.
Negative experience: The service is VERY slow! I've been waiting over an hour to get my dog checked. I thought this is an emergency care. I clearly have an emergency with my pet otherwise I wouldn't have came at 1 in the morning.
Negative experience: THE MOST CARELESS, INCOMPETENT, MONEY HUNGRY VET EVER!!! when we walked in with our critical dog, they refused to even look at him unless a $600 payment was made upfront!!! Then during their “evaluation”, they didn’t even care to look at his ENTIRE body (his legs had multiple VERY VISIBLE wounds that they just “didn’t look at yet”) & still NEVER did even after we asked for them to check them MULTIPLE times!! (never even cleaned or covered them up either!!) Then they told us we needed to pay $2300 UPFRONT for procedures/meds that they said “may or may not be needed” and then we could POSSIBLY get refunded for what’s not done. THE WHOLE THING WAS A MESS & VERY SKETCHY!!! & they TOOK HOURSSSS to just get some blood work & IV done. Then exaggerated/lied to us about the seriousness of our dogs condition & stability! WORST VET EVERRR!! Definitely took advantage of how much we were worried for our dog! NEVERRRRR GOING THERE AGAIN!!
Negative experience: Don’t take ur pets to this place people they don’t care about them it’s all about getting as much many as then can off you . And at the end more than likely u will walk out with ur pet dead in a bag. Doctor never called me back after the surgery he did on my dog and lie to me about he’s health. And of course they didn’t let me go see my pet till he was dying WORST PLACE DON’T TAKE UR PETS HERE IF U LOVE THEM.
Fantastic experience: This is the ONLY 24/7 vet in the valley and I am eternally grateful. I walked-in twice in the last two weeks for emergency care for my cat and given the severity of my cat's situation, I believe he could've easily not made it in the wrong hands. Look guys, I get it. It's really expensive. More than most of us can handle, and that really really sucks. And vet bills are costing more and more by the day, but that's not on the clinic. It's industry-wide. But the costs in the valley are still lower than other places. Also they're very clear on their costs and exactly what each cost is for and let me tell you, it's not them being greedy. According to the itemized bill for my cat's last stay, which was 3 nights and almost 3 days, only $365 of the over $2k it cost overall went to the initial emergency exam, his hospitalization and critical care. Do you know how little that is? Only about a sixth, or 17%. The cost is already more than I can afford, but I really wish more of it went to the staff because they deserve it (pls pls dont charge more though pls). Everything else, down to the last cent, went to the specific meds he received. That's where your anger at the costs should go. And I know they're not upcharging those either because when I checked the costs of some of the supplies I took home with me, its the same as I'd have paid if I bought it anywhere else. As for the wait times, I dont think people understand how emergencies work. It's not first-come first-serve. There's a line of course, but they will always prioritize serious cases. So if you're stuck waiting a while, then thank goodness because it probably means your pet is not in immediate danger. You know how I know? Because the receptionist took one look at my cat, practically raced through their required spiel to offer critical care and get CPR consent and then basically ran back with my cat. My cat wasn't bloody or crying, but she knew how bad it was the second she saw him. Meanwhile when he got discharged the first time, there was a busy lobby and I had to wait even though I had called ahead of time but I understood. The wait times on the phone also vary based on how busy they are, but that's also understandable. As for staff, they were always kind to me and I never witnessed them being rude to anyone else either. I was a little frustrated with this one tech who spoke to me briefly later though. He just kept questioning me as if what I was saying wasnt making sense until I straight up pulled up my cat's medical records... he also lowkey was just wrong about a fact. Cat owners will probably know what I mean but sometimes (a lot of times), vet offices are a little too dog-brained (to be fair, dogs go to vets a lot more than cats). But im 90% sure he mixed up a dog fact with a cat fact and when I searched it again to be sure, I was right. That's nothing new though so it's not a big deal to me. I did also have to prompt them a few times to get the kind of explanation I feel like they should have already prepared, but I understood why they didnt. I just know that a lot of pet owners might not be comfortable asking a lot of questions so it would've been nice if they had asked me first if I had more questions. Overall, I believe their rating should be between 4 and 4.5 but because their rating feels unfairly low to me, I'm giving the full 5 in the hopes that it will balance it out a little.
Negative experience: This awful, disgusting practice killed our dog. He was second one to be taken from us, but this is the only emergency animal doctor. Our dog died here after fainting because the staff wanted him to die. Our receipt only says "Doctor Z", but the lady responsible not only let him die, but they charged us $600 just to get into the door, and then $1600 for tons of ridiculous "add-ons" like each time they did CPR. They then banned me for not paying. This is not a joke. Do not come here. The disgusting women who work here purposely kill animals and they do it to make the absolute most money possible from you.
Positive experience: Awesome staff open 24/7 , prompt service, but be ready to pay like a human er, our pets are worth it.
Positive experience: The staff has spoken to me poorly before. And they have spoken to me mediocre. And on another time they spoke to me okay but I waited for 6+ hours and here's my recommendation: Teach your staff how to speak and communicate to your clients. 1. Professional and polite 2. Set expectations. If you think it will be an hour, tell them it will be an hour. If you know it will be at least 4 hours, tell them. No matter how upset they get, they will appreciate your ability to help them set expectations. 3. Do not assume that any client should know what to expect when coming here. 4. Do not compare yourself to the customer. If the customer says im tired, I waited all night, I haven't slept. Do not say, "well been up all night too". This is your job and mine starts at 7am. So at 5am the next morning, I've been up for 22 hours and you have not. The care is sufficient enough. The cost is ridiculous but there are no more regular vets. Just "emergency pet care" so we've been priced out of that. The employees who were kind to me and the general care of my pet get a 3. If those people aren't there, I give it a 2. Speak politely and set expectations for timeframe etc and its probably 4.5 stars. And you can say its a walkin based clinic so you dont know the time expectations but as they change over the 4 or 7 hrs you can update people.
Negative experience: The staff was certainly gracious and attentive. However, for an "immediate" service appointment, be prepared to wait. We set in the patient room for more than two hours. Apparently, they were in "shift change / rounding" mode. However, it doesn't seem right... especially since our cat was in distress.
Fantastic experience: I took my cat here about two days ago because she was hardly eating/drinking, dehydrated, and sleeping a lot, and her condition was worsening by the day. I see so many bad comments and honestly, I sympathize with everyone who had a bad experience here. My husband and I were there for about 6 hours, mostly waiting, through the whole process. I think that might be the only thing that was slightly bothersome at the time. We were walk ins and they made sure to apologize for the wait and communicated with us that they were severely understaffed and had multiple crisis pets coming in. Both the tech, vet, and receptionists were amazing at reassuring, explaining, and teaching us about her condition and her treatment. They took amazing care of her and didn’t disregard the questions I made out of worry. They didn’t belittle or bully me when I called the next day to ask questions for clarity regarding her slower-than-expected improvement. It’s my first cat and first time going to a vet, so I truly didn’t know what to expect regarding the healing process, but over the phone, they explained it amazingly. She is progressively getting better by the day. I am so grateful to them for saving her and giving my husband and I multiple “What-you-can-do” options, instead of just a single solution. Yes, the pay is on the higher end, but consider the fact that you don’t need to wait for an appointment, you don't need to wait for most exam results, and they have almost everything on hand to treat your pet right then and there. Thank you to this amazing team!
Negative experience: We rushed our dog to Pet 911 when he blew out a disc in his back late one evening. There was no triage or concern about level of severity when we arrived. Just told us there were 5 ahead of us. In the 2+ hours we waited our boy lost all the movement in his back legs. When we finally got to a room, I was in tears. The tech was all perky and overly friendly like we were there with a cute new puppy or kitten. She did not reflect the level of upset/severity we were feeling. The vet didn't come in for another hour at least. They said they would take an x-ray and give him something for the pain, then left. Another half hour passed before they actually did that. And we had to ask again to get that going. When we finally got some explanation from the vet, it was so quick and she said he needed an MRI and the nearest was San Antonio. We told them we would go that night. When we paid, I was given an $80 joint supplement we didn't need. They did contact the vet in SA to let them know we were coming and kindly refunded the $80 supplement when I went back several days later after leaving our boy in the care of the SA vet (Blue Pearl is wonderful). I will not step foot in that place ever again. I will drive to find an ER that provides service and compassion based on severity in an emergency. Sadly, I'm not sure if a place like that exists in the valley.
Fantastic experience: Bringing my dog here so far has been good. I'm glad that they are open 24 hours. They gave me all the medication my dog needed. I also like the fact that the place is very clean and fresh they have TVs in the rooms they have sinks and dog pads inside as well. The only thing about this place I don't like is how long the wait is. Other then that this place is great...
Fantastic experience: Very clean, professional staff. Doctor explained thoroughly what was wrong with my puppy. I thought I was gonna come out with a high bill, but I didn’t. I’m glad they are open 24 hours. Highly recommend them.
Negative experience: I’ve been unlucky enough to deal with Pet Doctor 911 on multiple occasions over the last several years, and every single experience has reinforced the same conclusion: this place is grossly incompetent, disorganized, and dangerous for animals in actual need of emergency care. I managed to avoid this so-called “hospital” for almost five years after my last visit, when they sent my cat home with a fluid pack and assured me he would be fine, only for him to die a few hours later. That alone should have been enough of a warning. Unfortunately, the Rio Grande Valley has very limited emergency veterinary options, which is the only reason I found myself back here today. I came in around 5:50 AM with serious concerns that my 13-year-old dog was showing symptoms consistent with pyometra, a condition that is well known to be life-threatening and time-sensitive. I was immediately placed into an exam room, which at first gives the illusion that they are efficient or on top of things. That illusion quickly disappears. By 7:20 AM, no one had come into the room. No technician. No vet. No update. No check-in. Nothing. For over an hour and a half, we were completely ignored. This is not the first time this has happened. I have previously sat in rooms here for well over an hour after check-in with zero communication or monitoring. Even more concerning, the front desk staff appeared unfamiliar with basic emergency conditions. When I mentioned pyometra, I was met with a confused “What’s that?” response. That alone is alarming for a facility that markets itself as an emergency animal hospital. While money is thankfully not an obstacle for me, I’ve personally witnessed and experienced what many other reviews mention: payment is often pushed and prioritized before meaningful care is provided, even in urgent situations. On a previous visit, I was charged for multiple tests that I never received results for. Calls were ignored. Showing up in person led to the same pattern: being placed in a room and then completely forgotten. I’ve dealt with veterinary clinics and emergency hospitals of all sizes over the last few decades, in different states and even different countries. None come close to the level of dysfunction and negligence I’ve experienced here. This place does not feel like an emergency facility. It feels like a holding pen where animals and their owners wait endlessly while time-sensitive conditions worsen behind closed doors. The most frustrating part is the lack of alternatives in the Valley. It’s heartbreaking that pet owners are often forced to choose between delaying care or risking subpar care at a facility like this. Every time my pets have an emergency, I genuinely hope it doesn’t happen at a time that would “force” me to come here. Pet Doctor 911 is a waste of critical emergency resources in an area that desperately needs competent, compassionate veterinary care. I would strongly urge anyone who truly has a pet emergency to explore every possible alternative before trusting this place with an animal’s life.
Negative experience: Horrible service they say they work on exotics but they dont. I took my rabbit in due to it losing function of its 2 back legs and the care was horrible no exam just hey let's get xrays ok which is understandable im not vet but ok let's see what is going on with its spine. Ok fine we did it but then they read the xrays and no clear explanation was discussed a bunch of could be this could be that. We had to point out the rabbit had diarrhea as well which if checked the vet would have seen stool on the buns bottom. No tests for infections or what could be causing the issue. Then we asked if the vet is trained for rabbits and they said they take care of rabbits but dont specialize in rabbit care and reffered me to san antonio and dallas. So no clue on whats going on went in and out with no resolution or what is causing problem horrible service. I left very upset and expressed my concerns to the staff but they shrugged me off and sent me on my way. I do not recommend this place as I see a lot of others say the same
Fantastic experience: The staff and the vet technicians here are so knowledgeable and caring. I know that I probably shouldn’t use what essentially is an ER for pets as my dogs primary care, but it’s hard when I can’t deny that the staff, the vets, the care here is superior to anywhere else I’ve been here in the valley.
Negative experience: I've been coming to this place since it first opened. I've seen the prices go up , especially now. I put my first pet down after 17 years peacefully for around $100, now the raised it to $300. One of the worst feeling is having a pet suffer and all you want to do is help them without going into extreme debt because these places found a way to extort as much money from people who care for animals. Hope the people that come to this place start going elsewhere because they simply don't care about the animals but love the money.
Positive experience: 5 stars if I didn't have to drive from Brownsville but best emergency Vet. I have 9 dogs. If I am upfront about my budget and communicate my needs or plans they always make it easy for me. They helped me save 4 dogs from parvo. Always there for an emergency and questions. Wish they were closer but don't be afraid to communicate your needs and budget they will try there best to help. If you don't say anything how can they help.
Negative experience: Avoid if possible. Took my dog in for signs of possible pancreatitis, and left with a cancer diagnosis. We were informed that we would be referred to a veterinary oncologist in San Antonio. We called back for several days, multiple times a day and kept getting the run around. Our dog had issues pooping and we requested a medication that is available for humans and they insisted that they fill it instead of sending to HEB. We drove an hour to pick up a med that they charged $40 for and is available for $5 at any other pharmacy. It took a WEEK for them to contact the oncologist, and when the oncologists office called, this clinic had still not sent over any information. Once these people get their payment, they will not assist. Especially if it means the animal needs to see someone else.
Fantastic experience: Great experience! My pug June is 2 months old she fell and hit her head. Upon arriving Karina and two other staff members showed their concern immediately! Dr. Nieto came in and had a plan right away. Our vet technician Arone was friendly and had an answer for any questions that we had. I’m very appreciative for this hospital as so many other people should because they are open 24/7 for us! When other animal hospitals are closed. Thank you Pet Dr. 911
Negative experience: Stay away from this place They know whats wrong with you pet , they play stupid and start testing on your pet, into you bill goes thousands of dollars fees. When u have no more money to continue, they make u feel bad and advice to put your pet down, with another fee.i lost my chiwawa in this horrible place. At first they ask you for $500 and give u a room, then a never ending test into your a broke.i had to Google what wrong with my dog that night, it was a Sunday night, only them were open, and refuse to help my dog, wanted to continue testing, I ask the female doctor, how expensive it was gone get into they can do something, she said over $10,000 I knew then this was a scam, and my chiwawa pay the ultimate price, death ☠️.
Negative experience: BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! We took our 10-week-old York terrier because he was with lathargiic. They took us and told us it was parvo. They wanted us to keep him with them over the weekend at a cost of 3 to $4,000. We took him to a vet in Progreso Mexico and it turned out he did not have parvo but we were giving him the wrong food. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!
Negative experience: Went in for an appointment, put us in a room waiting, 30 mins later no one is in, asking the front desk and told “ that’s normal, we have clients waiting for hours” First of all, if I have to wait for hours as walk in, I understand that sure, but we are talking about appointments, either y’all are this bad at your job you can’t figure out how to keep your appointment on time, or y’all just don’t care enough. Secondly, if you gonna tell me with a straight face that you have clients waiting for hours, then I think people deserve to know how y'all handle things beforehand. Last but not least, I can hear the chitchatting behind the door, so if yall gonna act like yall so busy and everyone is running behind, act like yall are busy doing things in the back.
Fantastic experience: I’ve used Pet Dr 911 ever since my Persian Tom had a kidney blockage . I had originally taken him to another vet recommended by a friend , and was told to wait 5hrs ! My cat was at that point dying ! I went to 911 , and he was immediately seen , no questions asked ! Dr Orama , saved his life ! That was 4 years ago and he’s doing great ! She is now our vet of choice ! She takes care of all our babies ! Including our DRAMA QUEEN , which I’m sure any other would turn away ! Recently our baby -baby had an emergency and we rushed him in , I HAVE TO TELL THIS ! He had a stomach virus , and the staff was extremely kind and caring ! They LOVE him , and held him the whole time we waited ! ( who does that ?) When doctor saw him , she also took personal care of him ! Tell me who else does this ? Yes , I’ve had a baby pass there , but not by their wrong doing ! This baby had FIP , which is genetic , and btw , Dr Orama was the ONLY one who was able to properly diagnose it ! Maybe the ones that are getting bad service are going in with bad attitudes to begin with ? I’m a retired medical professional , and I’ve worn their shoes . Walk in those shoes before you talk about the doctors and techs that care for your “ babies “ . Sometimes , it’s just hard , maybe we wait too long before they’re seen , or maybe we don’t have the $$$ . The doctors there will work with you IF you ask , don’t just talk bad about them ! They’re good people !
Negative experience: I took my baby to this clinic just a couple of days ago. The staff was nice, but did get upset when my dog had foam & blood coming out her nose. They did take her to the back right away when this happened. The front desk lady said it was going to be $600. We had accidentally left our second credit card at home and asked if we could run and grab it—our house is only 6 minutes away. They told us no, that if we couldn’t pay right then, they would have to bring her back to us. Seconds after telling us that, our baby crashed. We asked for CPR & they did bring her back, but then they informed us that if CPR lasted more than 5 minutes, there would be an additional $150 charge. Two hours later, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to put our baby down.
Positive experience: We took our female pug suffering from narrow traquea disorder and incessant coughing. We had to wait for over 3 hours for the veterinarian to check on her. Afterward she was well attended with xrays, shot and medication to take home for her condition. Other than the wait, we were very well attended.
Fantastic experience: My baby had to stay overnight to monitor his blood levels and I was a nervous wreck but all the nurses and doctors made me feel so safe leaving him here. I called throughout the night and reassured me that he was doing okay, they took such good care of him. As a dog mom I appreciated everything they did for my pom
Negative experience: I took my dog to them. They took her in right away. It was urgent so I didn't have to wait. I really appreciate the technicians for being so nice and caring. the reason I gave them 1 star is because I couldn't give them zero stars. When you go to pick up your pet, their discharge procedure is an absolute and horrible joke. For some unknown reason the Tech, who is assigned to your pet, is the only person who can discharge your pet, so if the tech is busy, which they always are, in and emergency etc. you could be sitting there for hours, even though, they make you make an "appointment" to pick up , you pay for all services up front, your pet is ready to go, there are 3 or 4 people at the front desk, in my case, chatting, laughing and perfectly capable of getting a dog out of a crate, only the tech can do it. My pets tech was in an emergency and they had no idea how long it would be. To make matter worse, the staff doesn't seem to give a flip. All they'll say is, only the tech can discharge, we have no idea how long it will be, sit down and wait. And, again, all of this is after they make you set up an "appointment" to pick your pet. It seems like the owner arbitrarily pulled the policy out of his butt, without thinking it through. My goodness. What a joke. I'd bet money if the owner of Pet 911 went to pick up his kids from school and was told, "Sorry sir, only the teacher can discharge students and she's in a meeting, we have no idea how long it will take, you'll just have to wait and , again, we have no idea how long it's going to take.", he'd be furious, he'd probably call the police and accuse the school of holding his kids hostage etc. I don't know any parents that wouldn't go ballistic. After, my one and only experience with Pet 911 in McAllen, I went from a raving 5 star customer to a 1 star former customer because of the idiotic policy and the front staff's lack of care or willingness to help. My goodness, they've mastered driving away customers with deep pockets willing to shell out, "whatever it takes" to save their pet. Wow! I'm still in shock and disbelief at the lunacy of it all. They better hope another 24 vet clinic doesn't open up or they'll lose most of their customers, based on all the bad reviews.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend, My Pumpkin ( Orange Collar ) Is In The Best Care Possible. If it Wasn’t For Pet Dr.911 I Don’t Think My Baby Would have it made it through the Night. Mind You THERE IS NO PRICE ON MY BABIES.
Negative experience: Literally one of the worst places to go, unless your cash loaded and showing out. My dog had a heat stroke at the house while I was at work in PI another plac3 closing told me of this place, they would call ahead I dont get paid until Tuesdays, I was told they would atleast give her some water with electrolytes and do minimum without pay but would atleast help, I floored it from PI her one eye shut, her flopping around not responsive, they kept telling me if im not paying only thing they can do is put her down. I knew it wasn't right, my baby pit is scared of most things, shes not much affectionate except on her terms but in there, she would only be conscious long enough to seek me, she freaked out when they wouldnt treat her but tried separating her from me, we waited 3 more hours for " waiting for the doctors say on what to do" I called the front desk to get an update just to be told, since your not paying they just left you there waiting on you to make your decision on letting us put her down or if you could come up with the 8-11k to MAYBE help her, I left still crying a friend of mine got back in to town same night and ex vet tech, she gave my pup electrolytes, and told me what to do, asked for hourly updates and photos, video and text update on bathroom, her underlying marks, eating etcetera. Within 2 days she made a full recovery. She said she was o ly severely dehydrated besides minor nerve damage from the heat stroke l, my dog is not blind like they say, shes just as playful as ever. They literally brought 3 different people to ONLY convince me to put down my baby pit, she is not aggressive at all, except to GIVE kisses, when she wants SHE GIVES kisses. If you love your dog, WARN EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY, God forbid anyone take their night staff advice
Fantastic experience: We took our dog here last night after he got attacked by another dog and we had a great experience during a stressful situation. All the staff treated us kindly and they took great care of our boy. We felt that the charges were very fair and they didn’t recommended any unnecessary interventions. We won’t hesitate to come here for future emergencies.
Negative experience: As a rescue organization, our hands are tied as to ER options in this area but the care was great. My problem is we are not getting the pets records for weeks/months or ever. We pay TOP dollar and payment is expected immediately but to get the legal records of the care that was provided is a total joke. In human meds, if physicians dont get their records done, they are suspended from being able to see patients until charts are caught up. As a well run rescue, we rely on the records that for services we paid for and this place is absolutely terrible about records.
Negative experience: I waited for an hour to be seen by a vet and left when it was becoming clear that the people at this facility did not care that my pet was experiencing a really major emergency. My cat was bleeding profusely after a play-fighting incident with one of her siblings. I let staff know this twice. We waited for 30 minutes to be moved to an exam room and waited another 30 minutes to be seen by a vet before we finally left to find someone else to see my cat. I am so appalled at the fact that the staff clearly didn’t care that my cat was hurt and that it was an emergency. In fact, they were too busy watching TV and laughing with each other while someone brought them Starbucks. No one ever told me the cause for the delay with being seen by a vet. When asked how long the wait would be we were told it would be “a little bit of a moment”. What does that even mean? Do not bring your pet here if there is an emergency. They will not care, and they will not help you.
Negative experience: Worst experience possible. Called ahead to see if they take walk ins because my cat was bleeding profusely from her mouth. They assured me they would take care of me. When we got there they had us sit in the lobby for a half hour when no one else was here. Sat in the waiting room for over an hour. They had zero sense of urgency for my poor cat. We could hear them laughing on the vets side of the door the entire time. We left and took her somewhere else after waiting endlessly and in the lobby saw them all ordering coffee together rather than seeing patients. These people are the last place you want to take your pet.
Negative experience: As a new patient, scheduling an appointment was easy. I arrived to my appointment (6min late) and was placed into a room within minutes. I waited an hour to be seen by the tech. I waited an additional 30 min to be seen by Dr. Paris. Exam took less then 10 min and I got my concerns addressed. Overall I got the help I was asking for, but I was waiting for a total of 1.5hrs without any knowledge of the wait. Service overall could improve.
Negative experience: they only care about money!! dont Go. some people donate their unused med to them and they dont even give you the option to get them until they make sure you dont have the money. They charge you for medical exams that are not needed and over charge on everything
Negative experience: Pet Owners Beware — 911 Pet Emergency Felt Like a Scam Our experience felt rushed, unclear, and financially motivated. Before the veterinarian even consulted with us about our pet’s symptoms or history, staff insisted on collecting a deposit for “rapid treatment.” The vet had not spoken with us, yet claimed to have enough information to proceed — without our input. After treatment, we received no clear explanation or diagnosis, only a recommendation for hospitalization without justification. This approach felt disappointing, unprofessional, and concerning. Pet owners deserve transparency, communication, and compassion — none of which we experienced here.
Fantastic experience: They saved my cat's life. The staff was friendly and caring and the amount they charged was very reasonable.
Negative experience: As someone with knowledge and experience in the veterinary field please do not bring your pets here. I am unfortunate to be new to the area and trusted that an emergency clinic would be able to do simple triage and emergency care. The triage system is an actual joke. You will be waiting hours for a level 1 critical animal to be seen. Your animal is having difficulty breathing and cyanotic mucous membranes? Low temperature, low SpO2, hypotension? Well sorry, that’s a “stable” animal for you… Staff has no empathy for animals and will mock you for their mistakes. They will not take any vitals to determine your pet’s status and won’t even give you the time of day until you sign their ridiculous contract of $600. The fact that a busy general practice was able to assess the emergency of my situation while having a FULL lobby. Meanwhile this EMERGENCY clinic could not see my animal with one person in the lobby. No staff information on their website (sketchy, what are you hiding from?) and the only staff member information listed is a veterinarian with a history of being reprimanded by the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners for causing a pet to go into cardiac arrest after not reviewing REQUIRED STANDARD blood work before administering a treatment. BEWARE!!! THIS PLACE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ANIMALS AND SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN! Negligence and malpractice. If you love your fur babies, please please stay away.
Negative experience: I brought my dog to Pet Dr 911 on October 2nd when he suddenly became very ill. He was diagnosed with a spine condition and an infection, and we were sent home with $300–$400 worth of medications and supplements. The vet was very kind and reassuring she told me he was going to be fine and that the medicine would help him feel better. She never gave any indication that he might be in his final hours. Less than 12 hours later, he passed away in my arms. I was devastated. To be clear, I don’t believe the vet treated my dog poorly. She was gentle and seemed to genuinely care. I understand that in emergency situations, not all the information is available and sometimes a proper diagnosis isn’t made right away. What has been most upsetting is not the individual care my dog received that night, but the lack of compassion and integrity in the facility’s business practices afterward. No one from Pet Dr 911 ever followed up—not a single phone call or message.Almost a month later, the only communication I received was an email stating that my dog’s records had been forwarded to his regular vet. I responded to that message and asked if I could return his unused medications for a partial refund since he passed away before he could use them. The records manager who replied was very kind and said she would see what she could do, but when the manager followed up, I was told that medications could only be returned unopened within five days of the visit. That policy might make sense in ordinary situations, but this was not ordinary. My dog died less than 12 hours after their appointment. It would have been reasonable and compassionate for them to make an exception. What makes it worse is that I later learned they sometimes take back medications to give to clients who can’t afford them. I was never offered that option. They simply refused any kind of refund, even though the circumstances were extraordinary. Had they followed up promptly after his passing, I absolutely would have returned the medications. But the grief was overwhelming, and I didn’t even think about it until their untimely email a month later reopened everything. It also felt like they ran up the bill with unnecessary medications and supplements that served no real purpose in his final hours. The experience left me feeling that their focus was more on profit than compassion. I trusted them during one of the scariest moments moments of my life, and instead I was met with indifference and rigid policies that lacked both empathy and integrity. I wish I had spent that last night at home, holding my baby and keeping him comfortable, instead of at a clinic that treated his illness and my love for him as a business transaction.
Fantastic experience: We are from out of state and had no idea where to go for vet services. We went on line and found Pet Doctor 911 24 hour services. Our dog developed stomach pain and we felt it couldnt wait through out the night. We were not disappointed with Pet Doctor 911. The staff was super friendly upon us checking in. We did have a long wait to be seen but completely understandable with the number of patients they had to be seen. The tech was amazing with us....making sure we knew exactly what she was doing when she took our dog away from us. Also she was very thorough in giving us estimates on the cost up front with every procedure that needed to be done to determine what needed to be done to find the best diagnosis for our dogs symptoms. The vet was also amazing! She knew exactly what was wrong with our dog according to tge symptoms he was having. She didnt do any unnecessary tests only what she felt was needed to get the correct diagnosis. She was not pushy at all about what we should do for tests, only what she felt was necessary and left it up to us to proceed. I would not hesitate at all about bring a pet back to this amazing place!!
Negative experience: I took my rescued cat, who had just been neutered and was about to start his vaccination process and general check-ups. Unfortunately, he somehow got infected with feline panleukopenia. He had been living with my other vaccinated cats for about a week and a half before getting sick. I first took him to another clinic, where they told me his white blood cell count was extremely low and that if I didn’t take him to a hospital right away, he could die. Since I’m new here (only 7 months living in this city), I didn’t know much about where to go, so I decided to take him to 911 Pet Hospital. Honestly, it was a total nightmare — almost $5,000 for just four days of hospitalization. I went to visit him every single day because they never call you to update you on your pet’s condition. You have to call them yourself to find out if your pet is improving or getting worse. I understand they might be busy, but when you pay that much for a service, communication should be part of it. They don’t let you see your cat because they say the disease is highly contagious, which I understand, but I wasn’t given any medical records or treatment notes. I had to ask multiple times just to get a copy of his blood test results. When I reviewed them with another veterinarian, he told me my cat was in very critical condition and severely dehydrated — and that dehydration, not the virus itself, is what usually kills them. When I went to pick him up (after they tried to charge me for another day just to “help him eat”), my cat looked terrible — covered in bruises, covered in poop, smelling like medicine, with shaved patches on his neck and a very swollen leg where the IV had been placed too tightly. It broke my heart. I brought him home, isolated him, and he started eating on his own immediately without needing a syringe. I followed the medication instructions they gave me for four days and worked hard to keep everything disinfected and clean. In just five days, his stool became normal again, and now he’s back to playing, running, and eating with his brothers — all of whom remain completely healthy. Later, when I took my other cats to a different veterinary clinic for check-ups, the new vet asked me if that same cat was still alive. That question alone says a lot — even other professionals know that the quality of care and treatment at 911 Pet Hospital is not about excellence, but about charging as much money as possible from people in desperate situations. I honestly feel like I paid thousands of dollars for poor communication, lack of compassion, and questionable care. If I had left him there one more day, I truly believe he might not be alive today. What this place does feels like taking advantage of people’s heartbreak when their pets are suffering. No one should build a business empire on someone else’s pain. This is not about money — this is about justice for the animals who don’t have a voice, but whose owners do
Fantastic experience: My dog went in due to a laceration on her hind leg. We were treated well since we walked through the doors until we left. We were given 2 options to close the wound and the Veterenarian said either chose would be ok for our fur baby. I didn't feel pressured that I was making the wrong decision. Everyone in the office was very nice and answered all of our questions. Our dog was given excellent care. Now she is on the mend.
Fantastic experience: We took our 2-year-old Shih Tzu, Chocolate, to this vet and he received the best care possible! The staff did a full blood work-up and took the time to explain everything to us step by step from the recommended tests and pricing to the results and follow-up care. The vet even called afterward to check on Chocolate and make sure he was doing well. We truly appreciate the kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail. Highly recommend!
Positive experience: We unfortunately lost our dog after 1.5 days of care. We payed roughly $3300 . I am not sure if it would have made a difference but the prices are so high, my concern is that persons who cannot afford $600.00 for an initial assessment , $1300.00 for an overnight stay, $600.00 for euthanasia and even $500 for an a antibiotic are faced with a decision that is difficult to make. Unless your pet needs acute care , I would look somewhere else.
Fantastic experience: Pet Doctor 911 has been our primary vet for years, and every time I have walked in-- whether by appointment or as an emergency visit-- they have done their very best to meet our pet's needs. I can only imagine the work and resources that goes into having a fully staffed hospital open 24/7 for pets, but I know for a fact that they have saved many furry friends because of it. Every time I have been, there has been an itemized bill and someone to walk me through what the purpose of each test and medication was, and on occassions where it was possible, what alternative options were available and what risks would be associated with those options.
Negative experience: Worst experience ever! If you truly love your dogs you would never bring them here! They are here only to make profit and don’t care for the well being of the animals.
Fantastic experience: I’ve always taken all my pets here when they have had emergencies and have gotten great service. I take one of my dogs currently for his monthly arthritis shot and they always make sure to take care of him and in a timely manner. Would recommend this veterinarian business!
Fantastic experience: my puppy Thor just had his second round of vaccines in this vet, they are all so kind and loving with Thor! They recommend me things for him that help with his health and safety, definitely his forever vet from now on!
Fantastic experience: I took my cat here several months ago but never got the chance to share my experience. On May 3rd, I brought my cat in for FIC. He was in critical condition, and sadly, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to put him down. It was one of the hardest moments of my life, but the staff member who administered the euthanasia solution made such a deep impact on me. She was incredibly kind and compassionate, and her empathy brought a sense of comfort during an unbearable time. I still remember her words: “This is the most selfless thing you can do.” Those words have stayed with me ever since. I recently had to say goodbye to another one of my cats, who was 11, and remembering what she said truly helped me find peace in that moment. I wish I remembered her name, she was white complected with blonde-ish hair, but I will never forget her kindness. It takes one thing to work at a veterinary hospital, but it takes something much greater to truly feel and show empathy. My experience was painful, but that compassion meant more than I realized. This place was wonderful, and I’m deeply grateful for the care they gave.
Negative experience: Worthless place had my wife sitting there for 5hrs and did absolutely nothing for her animal. You would have better chance watching a youtube video on how to care for your animals. Save your money go elsewhere.
Negative experience: Hell no! They tried to make me sign over my boy cause "he wasn't gonna make it and they have ppl there that can care for him" and what not, told me to sign some paperwork they had to sign over rights to him leaving him there with them and that someone there could take him home. I was like hell No!!! I brought him home and cared for him myself and he is doing better than ever now, never again will I take any of my dogs there
Fantastic experience: Kimchi is the best dog in the world and we only bring her to the best animal hospital in the world. Best and friendliest service❤️
Fantastic experience: Sandy had gotten surgery on a mass next to her eye, and she turned out fine as if the mass was never there. I’m happy the way they took care of her. The staff is also very kind. We come every month for her allergy shot, and they’re always welcoming.
Fantastic experience: Excellent place we took our 6 dogs and service was super fast, they got us out in 2 hours for 6 dogs and they were all so sweet every receptionist was great, the nurse was the best also the attention she loved our dogs and our dogs loved her, the vet very helpful and would explain everything. They have the best service and staff, our dogs didn’t cry even tho they gave them vaccines. And we’ve been with them for years. Always the best! ❤️
Fantastic experience: There is really only one thing to say about this office…. AMAZING! I have been taking my babies here for over 5 years and they have never disappointed, from their puppy vacs to procedures. I will forever be thankful to have them care for my babies! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Fantastic experience: I’ve had great experiences with Pet Doctor 911. The staff is always kind and patient, and the waiting area is clean and comfortable. I really appreciate that they take the time to listen and explain everything clearly. I always leave feeling confident my pet’s getting the right care.
Fantastic experience: My dog Brutus was hit by a rattlesnake. I called ahead of time to let them know what was going on. They were quick to help us. Now my boy Brutus is recovering well. Thank you very much for the prompt help and outstanding care.
Negative experience: Very disappointed with the staff’s behavior during my emergency visit. Our dog was bitten by a rattlesnake in the mouth and started displaying signs of having trouble breathing. A quick search on google showed Pet Doctors 911, was the closed place open at the time of night, so I rushed from Roma Texas to McAllen Texas for emergency care (1 hour drive guys). We called ahead to make sure they knew our situation, and they did let us know it would be a $600 deposit for emergency care. That was fine, we just needed antivenom for our dog FAST. We get there, they take him back, and then they ask for payment before treating him. We were panicking and confused but said OKAY because we wanted them to hurry up and give him the antivenom. They told my mom it was going to be $2,800. Now that was shocking, how did it jump from $600 to $2,800. They said that the was the cost of 2 nights for the treatment. My mom asked how much it would be for just the over night: $1,800 – AND it was due NOW. They literally would not start treating him with antivenom until it was paid in FULL. Girl. My Mother then said that she would just get the emergency care for the antivenom because that was just not feasible for us. They began to rudely refuse and said the doctor was not recommending that, we let them know that was fine we just needed the venom for now and we would pay $600. They kept going back and forth saying that it was not what we should do, mind you our dog was still not being treated! Finally, they said ok but it was going to be another $600 making it $1,200 for the emergency visit due to the exams they had to run. We asked what exams: they needed to make sure it was a rattle snake, we said it was, they asked if we were sure, we said yes, they wanted proof, we had a picture, they said still. They wanted to measure the amount of venom before they administered the antivenom… It was a back and forth with them, and honestly, felt like they were just making things up. We said OKAY to the $1200 so they can start treating our dog. We only had $800 cash and needed to go pull out the rest, they warned us that if we left the premises, it was officially going to be $1,800 because it would be considered an overnight stay. They even told my mom to call someone else to do it for her… My mom said she just wanted to cry because her dog was dying, the staff could care less and they were being so mean to her for not having enough money for treatment. She ended up figuring it out to pay but she was just so overwhelmed by their hostility and refusal to her decision of getting only the antivenom emergency treatment. Places like this make it hard for people to get care for their pets. It’s understandable your recommendations but refusing to follow the owners decisions because their financial situation is ugly. They could have procedures in place like signing a waver about going against doctors’ recommendations and proceed but no they humiliate you for what you’re able to afford. I can’t imagine the number of animals that go untreated for this very reason. Yeah, this places left a bad taste in our mouth.
Negative experience: Worst experience ever . My dog broke his leg and i had to wait 3 hours for the doctor to finally see him . I wanted to transfer him to another hospital but he was bleeding everytime he put pressure on the wound . The doctor said she couldn’t bandage or patch up anything unless we signed the contract to pay 800 and 300 every 2 days for them to re wrap his bandage . So basically if we didn’t commit to coming back to this vet they wouldn’t even help with the bare minimum in patching him up even after i offered to pay . Had to waste 7 hours just for them to give me nothing . Worst experience ever already took my dog to another vet where they treated him much better .
Negative experience: My dog had just broken his leg and was actively bleeding, and we were so scared. Instead of helping, this clinic refused to even put a simple bandage on him (which we offered to pay for) unless we signed their outrageous contract. We just wanted to keep our options open and seek a second opinion, but at the very least expected them to stop the bleeding. They refused. They charged us a lot for what little they did, and gave us no real help or solution. It was clear that my dog did not matter here.
Fantastic experience: I have been with them from the day they opened. I love them. I have had exotic animals. African tortoise..snakes. rabbits and now my cat's go them. I trust them fully with my babies. They're very gentle and loving. They explain everything they will work with you above and beyond. They help you with your payments or anythey will help you sign up for insurance for your babies. They're incredible every time I would start crying because I was worried about my baby. Someone would walk up and hand me a kleenex.. I guarantee you cannot go wrong with them.. The staff and everyone is so sweet and respectful
Positive experience: My Bichon, Princess was admitted for 5 days. The staff was loving & caring with her. Took her outside on demand & fed her yummy food. Only issue I had was getting updates on her status. Most of the time the tech was busy when I called to check up on her & receptionist would take a message. I never got a call back. That happened at least 3 times. Communication is very important.
Negative experience: They charge upfront $600 without seeing your dog first. If your dog needs CPR, which it’s an emergency hospital, since you are paying upfront for emergency services, they charge $150 every 5 minutes. If your pet needs oxygen, even though it’s emergency, oxygen is not included, you pay another 100’s of dollars every 12 hours. I feel that if you are paying already an extra fee for emergency services at least oxygen and CPR SHOULD be included. It seems that they care more of making extra money for the things that should be covered in an emergency hospital, which they are charging for upfront, that actually, saving your pet’s life! It’s best to wait to wait a few hours and taking them to McAllen Urgent Vet which are open until late on Saturday and Sunday and don’t charge as an emergency and have an excellent vet!!!
Negative experience: For the love of your pet(s) don’t bring them here. At the time we didn’t have any dogs or cats but a rabbit and she was the world to us. Unfortunately we had to bring her here because in the weekends our Go To vet uses this location for emergencies during the weekend. We had to pay upfront before they could even take her in. Unfortunately our girl died. They value money than the love and care of animals.
Negative experience: I would not recommend this clinic. It feels like they care more about money than actually helping animals. They charge a steep appointment fee just for the vet to glance at my dog for barely a minute and call it an “evaluation.” On top of that, they constantly push unnecessary extra services that cost a fortune. I left feeling taken advantage of, not cared for. If you’re looking for a place that puts your pet first, this isn’t it.
Negative experience: Horrible service. Very expensive. I took a dog that was over 100lbs and couldn't walk and no one helped get her to the room or back into my car. Her open wound was left open and not wrapped or stitched. They just said they were unsure why my dog couldn't walk and wanted to keep her over night to charge me another 1k just to give her medicine that I would be giving her on my own.
Negative experience: This is the worst place ever, sadly I have to have this experience two times in different occasions, first my sister in law brought her dog for a broken leg, the first thing that had happened it was that we ask if they could admit the dog in and we were gonna pay after the treatment, it was around 2 in the morning and her check didn’t came in until a few hours later, A FEW HOURS, they turn us away and the really rude lady told us to come back in a few hours so we had to leave with the poor dog win pain for his leg and came back in a few hours later which however has been here before knows that the prices are far from cheap Now this is the second time that I have a experience with them and it’s even worst than the last one, it’s 11 am and my brother calls me telling me his cat it’s feeling sick and that he noticed he hasn’t peein so we brought him as an emergency, same with as before we are waiting for the check and they turn us away, me and my husband decided to pay a fee of $95 for the cat to get admitted so the. Later my brother gets a bill of $3000 dollars and if he doesn’t pay at front they are not gonna touch the cat, there second option was to bring the cat home and let him be in peace with us at a place he knows and they refuse to realize the cat because the doctor had already see him, they told us diferent treatment options but all of them close to $1000 dollars without any option of treatment until the check comes in, then they told him to put the cat down, like that without even a small type of empathy, and also they were charging them as well to put the cat down, that’s another level of disrespect, now it’s 1:32 in the morning and we are still waiting outside while my brothers cat is in pain, this vet would choose to let your animal suffer or die instead of trying to help you out as an worried owner it’s not a emergency pet if they are not gonna act like an emergency center So if you can avoid coming in this awful place I would really recommend
Fantastic experience: I’ve taken my kitten to Pet Doctor 911 twice now and both visits have been great! Dr. Nieto is so kind, thorough, and patient. Our technician Chris was gentle, professional, and very attentive. Both times I was in and out within an hour, and even as a walk-in the wait was quicker than expected. You can tell they really care about their patients, and I always leave feeling confident my kitten is in the best hands. The facility is clean, they offer discounts once you are about to check out as well. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Love Love Love this place, our baby had an allergic reaction late at night they rushed her in quickly they were so gentle and amazing with her. Kind to us explaimd everything that was happening we have continued with them for our babies needs and have never been disappointed Great job staff and Dr
Fantastic experience: The receptionists are friendly and organized. The waiting room and exam rooms and clean. It’s nice that they have a TV in each exam room to help the wait go by faster. The staff treating our dogs have always been very knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. Great job overall and would recommend.
Fantastic experience: We drove from Harlingen to take our dog at 10:30 p.m. The staff helped us unload him from our vehicle as soon as we got there. The staff and doctor were extremely sweet and helpful. All of them were very compassionate as we had to put him down totally unexpectedly that night. The wait time and examination didn’t not take too long. They were sweet that we were able to stay with him as long as we wanted after the procedure. The price and options were given before any decisions and it was not outrageous. The female vet, sorry I was too busy to catch her name at that time, explained politely what was happening to his body. This was her first time seeing him but she was able to put together all the puzzle pieces of his medical history together. She shared her own personal experience as to what she would do in our situation. Her passion and dedication were evident in every word she spoke. The assistants were also courteous with every procedure. My husband and I can’t thank enough for their kindest support while we went through this very difficult time. We wish this clinic was in Harlingen. Thank you all very much for being exceptional and supported us mentally, physically and spiritually,… Hats off to all staff who dedicate their profession 24 hours with smiles and warm hearts ❤️❤️❤️
Fantastic experience: Staff were very friendly. I had a great and knowledgeable experience with the vet techs and veterinarian who helped me and pet. My kitten is getting better! Would definitely come back :D
Fantastic experience: Love the place! Been here a couple of times with my Doberman Zero and always leave satisfied with the service they provide. No long waits even as a walk in. Affordable prices and amazing vets/techs. Very nice staff and vet explains everything in good detail as what’s going on with your pet. Would recommend pet doctor 911
Negative experience: My dog just passed away and it feels like they did nothing right. My German shepherd was holding on for dear life and we got there with the hopes of my dog being able to be okay. Only for her to pass away an hour within being here. Please don’t take your dog here. Please. They don’t seem to know what they’re doing. And it was 1k to cremate her. I’m so upset.
Negative experience: Called this morning to ask for information about my pet’s situation and they were very insensitive. Customer service was horrible and their services should not be overpriced for that matter. Staff needs to do a better job at expressing empathy or find a different occupation. I would not recommend this place to anyone or come here again.
Fantastic experience: Use to be pretty iffy about this vet, but I feel as if recently they’ve been getting a lot better! Went in for vaccines today, vet was very polite and informative as well as vet tech and were very sweet and gentle with my baby even though she was nervous. Manager was also very nice and even offered us water while we waited. Will be coming back soon for more checkups!
Negative experience: The front desk staff was kind and welcoming, and I appreciated their friendly attitude during check-in. However, the rest of the visit left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. My dog is very energetic, and while I understand that can be a challenge, the veterinarian appeared visibly annoyed during the brief exam. He palpated a few areas and checked his heart, but the majority of the procedures — including lab work and an injection — were done in a separate room without me present. I was initially told they were going to “check his temperature,” but later found out that blood had already been drawn before I received any explanation or consent form. Only after I declined additional services did they present the invoice — which already included charges for the bloodwork. This lack of transparency and communication was concerning, especially when the visit totaled nearly $300. I expected more clarity and involvement in decisions about my dog’s care. While I understand that veterinary clinics can be busy and protocols vary, I hope they reconsider how they communicate with pet owners before performing procedures.
Negative experience: I took my French-bulldog to the hospital seeking help, but instead we left with a devastating outcome. During a routine procedure, the hospital administered treatment or handled equipment in a way that caused permanent damage to my dog's hearing. There was no prior warning about any risk of deafness, and the lack of transparency and accountability afterward only made things worse. What should have been a safe place for care ended up causing irreversible harm, leaving my dog deaf and me heartbroken.
Fantastic experience: Had to take our dog there for rabies shot and she had black build up in her ear from water accidentally getting in her ears from her bath. They saw her and did an amazing job giving her medine and drops and it's been a while since I've taken Maya but I was impressed with her care there and will be taking her back again soon for check up.
Negative experience: This place prioritizes money over you pet. Many times I have seen and heard of people’s pet dying or being left for dead because they ask for a lump sum upfront and if you can’t pay for it they will leave your dog out in the lobby to suffer. I don’t not recommend this place and all the vets and staff there to should ashamed of themselves especially the “Drs” who signed up to be a vet to take care of our pets but only ended up being greedy for money. Do better!
