Experiencia fantástica: When our girl Candy died at home, overnight, we originally called our vet and got nowhere. We then called MedVet to see what we needed to do. They woman who answered the phone (I cannot remember her name) was extremely kind and very helpful. When we got there, they were extremely professional and very kind. They took my husband and our cat to a quiet room while I checked us in. Very easy check-in process, even for our first time being there. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so kind at such a terrible time in our lives.

We’re grateful our team was able to provide kindness, professionalism, and a quiet space for your family during such a painful moment. Supporting families with compassion and dignity—especially when the unexpected happens at home—is something we take very seriously. Thank you for trusting us during one of the hardest nights of your lives.

Experiencia fantástica: We had to take our cat here for suspected UTI - everyone we came into contact was great. Staff took our cat back immediately for the urgency of potential blockage. Thankfully, our cat didn’t have a blockage but I appreciated the immediate concern/action. Vets were great with communication and explaining next steps, and thorough on medication at home. After a not so great experience, a week prior at Northview Animal Clinic, where we had to put our dog down, MetVet Cleveland was breath of fresh air. Everyone was emphatic, great communication and very nice facility.

Alyscia, after experiencing the loss of your dog the week prior, bringing your cat in for a potential emergency must have felt especially heavy. We’re so glad our team acted quickly to assess the urgency of a possible blockage and that you felt supported through clear communication and thorough home care instructions. Providing prompt evaluation and compassionate care is something we take seriously, especially in high-stress situations. Thank you for trusting our team during such a difficult time — we’re grateful we could be there for you and your cat.

Experiencia fantástica: Very pleased with the specialty care we’ve been receiving over the last few months here. Our little dog bat had to have disc surgery and we went in not thinking she’d walk again. Yet after everything she has gained almost all mobility and abilities back! She’s been great ever since the surgery. We are so very impressed and happy with everything the neurology department have done for us and little bat. Thank yall so much!

Charlie, thank you for sharing such wonderful news about Bat. Facing spinal surgery without knowing if she would walk again must have been incredibly stressful, and we’re so happy to hear she has regained so much mobility. Seeing patients regain function and return to joyful lives is why our neurology team does what they do. We truly appreciate your trust and your kind words.

Experiencia negativa: I sat there for over an hour. All I wanted to know is if my dog had a UTI. I was the first one there there was no one ahead of me. Nobody critical came before me and it was 2 hours before I was in the back. I brought a urine sample but when I went into the back 2 hours later they didn't even start it. I asked why didn't they start it. The vet wanted to tell me that they needed to do X-rays and blood work to really see what's going on with my dog. I said no you haven't even done the urine sample I want to know if she has a UTI. Then someone wanted to come in and sell me a treatment plan. I left. I have a kid at home and my grandmother died today. I wanted my dog to be on antibiotics so I had one less thing to worry about but no. They wanted me to go back into that room again for a urine analysis reading and I said no because I felt like it was a trap and I couldn't spend any more time there. I asked did she have a UTI they said no so I left. I'm going to ask her those records because I should have those I paid for this torturous horrible over 3-hour visit. I feel like no one really actually cares about what's going on with the animals. I feel like it was a bunch of BS I think it was a bunch of selling garbage. And the animals are the ones that suffer.

MedVet Cleveland
MedVet Cleveland

Lia, we are truly sorry this visit occurred on such a difficult day for you, especially while grieving the loss of your grandmother. That is an overwhelming situation, and we understand how hard it must have been to wait while worrying about your dog.
We do want to clarify a few important points. As a 24/7 emergency hospital, patients are triaged based on medical urgency, and critical patients may be receiving care in the treatment area even when the lobby appears empty. Wait times are determined by medical need, not order of arrival.
Regarding diagnostics, a urine sample is one tool, but our doctors are medically responsible for determining whether additional testing such as bloodwork or imaging is necessary before prescribing antibiotics. Recommending further evaluation is not an attempt to sell services — it is a medical obligation to ensure we are not missing a more serious underlying condition. Antibiotics are not prescribed without appropriate assessment.
We do not proceed with diagnostics or treatment without client approval, and written estimates are provided before moving forward. You are entitled to your dog’s medical records, and we would welcome the opportunity to review the visit step by step to provide clarity around what was recommended and why. If you are open to speaking with us, please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email [email protected] with your contact information.
We are sincerely sorry for your loss and extend our condolences to you and your family during this difficult time.

Experiencia fantástica: What an amazing place! My little girl was in really bad shape and needed a neurologist but couldn't get in for nearly a week. The supervisor, Jessica, worked her magic and got her in within 2 days! I know they treated my baby well and loved on her because when they saw her improvement, EVERYone was excited! They really got involved and cared that she received the proper care. They were truly amazing at a time when we were really nervous and scared and I highly recommend them.

Kim, your words mean so much. When a pet needs specialty care and time is of the essence, we know how overwhelming that can feel. We’re grateful our team was able to coordinate an earlier neurology appointment and that you felt the genuine care and excitement surrounding your girl’s improvement. Moments like that remind us why we do what we do. We’re so happy she’s doing better and are cheering her on as she continues to heal.

Experiencia fantástica: MedVet Cleveland is a great facility, and our dog received amazing care from the staff there. Our dog had TPLO surgery in December, performed by Dr. Adam Townsend, and the entire process was fantastic. Great facility, kind and caring staff, fantastic communication during and after surgery and recovery -- just the perfect experience from start to finish. Experiencia negativa: My wife took our Boston Terrier to the vet for an ingrown anal gland. She waited for about seven hours while the doctor saw people who arrived later. It was incredibly inconsiderate. She ended up leaving that place. I don't recommend it; look for other options.

MedVet Cleveland
MedVet Cleveland

Juan, we’re so sorry your wife experienced such a long and frustrating wait. When your Boston Terrier is uncomfortable and you’ve already been there for hours, that kind of delay feels incredibly discouraging. We understand why that would leave a negative impression.
As an emergency and specialty hospital, we triage patients strictly based on medical urgency. When life-threatening cases arrive, they must be treated immediately, even if other families have been waiting longer. Even when the lobby may not appear busy, our doctors and technicians are often actively caring for critically ill patients behind the scenes. That can significantly impact wait times for pets who are stable but still uncomfortable. We know that doesn’t make the wait easy, and clearer communication around shifting timelines is something we continually work to improve.
You brought your Boston Terrier to us because you wanted relief and answers, and that matters. If you would like to discuss the visit further, we encourage you to call our hospital and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team so we can review the experience directly. You may also email [email protected] with your contact information and any additional details. We genuinely care about the wellbeing of the pets entrusted to us and the families who love them.

Kristi, what a terrifying experience that must have been. Seeing your dog go into anaphylactic shock is every pet parent’s nightmare, and we’re so grateful you trusted our emergency team in that critical moment. Experiencia negativa: This place is a cash cow. My dog had pneumonia and was recommended to stay over night for IV antibiotics, and fluids. They quoted me $5-$9k! No surgery, no extensive testing.. just antibiotics and fluids. INSANE. When I said that wouldn’t be possible, their only answer was to use a care card and make payments. If you can, go literally anywhere else.

MedVet Cleveland
MedVet Cleveland

Mo, we know how overwhelming it can feel to hear an estimate for hospitalization when your dog is already sick. Pneumonia is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition, and when we recommend overnight care with IV antibiotics and fluids, it’s because close monitoring, oxygen support if needed, repeat exams, and around-the-clock nursing care can make a critical difference in recovery. That level of emergency and specialty support requires a full medical team, advanced equipment, and continuous monitoring throughout the night.
Estimates are provided as a range so families can understand the potential scope of care based on how a patient responds and what support may be needed. We do our best to be transparent about those costs upfront and to review options carefully so families can make informed decisions. Offering third-party financing options like CareCredit is never meant to pressure anyone—it’s simply one of the tools available to help when unexpected emergencies arise.
Our doctors and team members chose the veterinary profession because of their dedication to pets and the people who love them. We would never recommend hospitalization unless we believed it was medically necessary for a patient’s wellbeing. If you have questions about the recommendations that were made or would like to review the treatment plan in more detail, we encourage you to call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email [email protected] with your contact information so we can ensure your concerns are addressed directly. Your dog’s health and your trust matter to us.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Prudic is truly exceptional. She has treated our dog with so much compassion, patience, and respect. Navigating oncology for a beloved pet is incredibly emotional, and Dr. Prudic took the time to explain everything clearly, answer every question thoroughly, and make sure we never felt rushed or dismissed. Her knowledge, honesty, and genuine care gave us comfort during an extremely difficult time, and we are so grateful for her guidance and support. The entire staff was just as wonderful. Brittany and Nina were absolutely amazing. kind, attentive, and very helpful. They answered any questions we had and even sent texts to check in on our sweet boy. Experiencia positiva: I love the convenience when there's an urgent need and my vet can't see my dog. However, it always comes with at least a 4 hour wait. I think that there should be a way to triage and then a mobile number be given to text you to say, be back within 15 minutes. They always take the most crucial first so it would eliminate the waiting room frustration. If I'm at home waiting for the call, I wouldn't mind as much.

MedVet Cleveland
MedVet Cleveland

Jennifer, thank you for sharing your experience and for recognizing the convenience of having urgent care available when your family veterinarian isn’t able to see your dog. As an emergency hospital, our team continuously triages patients so those with the most critical needs are treated first, which can unfortunately result in longer waits during busy times. Even short periods away from the hospital can sometimes affect a patient’s place in line if additional patients arrive requiring immediate attention when our team is ready to proceed with care. We truly appreciate your thoughtful feedback and understand how challenging extended wait times can be, and we’re grateful for your patience and trust in our team during urgent situations.

E'leesha Wooten Publicada en Google 4 months ago

Experiencia negativa: At a very crucial time for my pet, I literally felt like he would be treated as just a number. The woman on the phone would not even let me get my full question out before cutting me off to tell me the starting price of exams; very rude and non compassionate. I'm so glad we decided to pass on this place & opt for North Ridgeville instead.

MedVet Cleveland
MedVet Cleveland

E’leesha, we understand how stressful and frightening it is when a pet needs urgent care, and we’re sorry this interaction left you feeling unheard. When calling an emergency hospital, our team is limited in what can be discussed over the phone, as medical advice, triage decisions, and treatment recommendations cannot be provided without an in-person evaluation by a doctor. Because of this, calls often focus first on exam availability and pricing so families can make informed decisions quickly. That information is never meant to minimize concern for a pet, but rather to be transparent and respectful of a client’s time and situation during an emergency. We’re glad your pet was able to receive care and wish you and your family the very best moving forward.

Mark Ciccarelli Publicada en Google 4 months ago

Experiencia negativa: I have taken my dog there for emergency unbelievable the wait time they stuck me and my dog into a little room literally came in there two hours later and said we only have one doctor and he will get to you as soon as he can. This is emergency facility. You should be staff for emergencies and ready especially what you are charging that’s why we went to emergency. To get care right away that’s what you’re charging for. I end up picking my dog up and leaving. I can’t believe how understaffed they are. I do not recommend this place. There’s other emergency animal hospitals maybe you’ll have Better luck there

MedVet Cleveland
MedVet Cleveland

Mark, we’re sorry to hear how frustrating this experience felt for you, especially when you brought your dog to an emergency hospital expecting immediate care. We understand how stressful it is to wait when you’re worried about your beloved companion, and we don’t take that lightly. As an emergency and specialty hospital, our doctors and care teams continuously triage patients based on medical urgency, which means that at times a single doctor may be actively stabilizing or treating multiple critical patients behind the scenes, even if that isn’t always visible from the exam room. This approach ensures that the most life-threatening situations are addressed as quickly and safely as possible. While we strive to communicate clearly about wait times and what to expect, we know that waiting can still feel overwhelming, and we appreciate you sharing how this came across. If you’re open to it, we would welcome the opportunity to talk through your visit, answer any lingering questions, and better understand your concerns. You’re welcome to call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email this review along with your contact information to [email protected], and I will ensure it reaches the appropriate parties. Our goal is always to support pets and the people who love them with transparency, respect, and thoughtful care.

MedVet Cleveland
MedVet Cleveland

Carol, we’re sorry to hear how distressing and frustrating this experience felt, especially while your beloved cat was clearly not feeling well. In an emergency and specialty hospital, patients are continuously triaged and prioritized based on medical urgency, and wait times can change quickly even when that isn’t apparent from the lobby, but we understand how difficult it is to wait without clear expectations or timely updates. Our team works tirelessly to support pets and the families who love them, and we’re sorry you feel your experience did not reflect that. If you would like to discuss your visit further, please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team, or email your review, contact information, and any additional details to [email protected] and I will ensure it reaches the appropriate parties.

Luckily, my visit was more of a precautionary measure and not life threatening. As a result I spent more than 8 hrs waiting to be seen, which gave me plenty of time to witness the staff at work. We understand how difficult an extended wait can be, especially when you’re worried about your dog, and we appreciate your patience on what sounds like a very busy emergency night. As an emergency and specialty hospital, patients are prioritized based on medical urgency, which can sometimes result in longer waits for conditions that are stable but still require care. Our team remains closely monitoring all patients during that time and works as efficiently as possible to ensure each pet receives the attention they need. We truly appreciate you trusting us with your dog’s care and are grateful for your understanding during a challenging visit.

Experiencia fantástica: I have used MedVet many times over the years, both here and in Columbus, for the 5 dogs I have owned to date. I have always been happy with their services, both for emergency and specialty care, and am very grateful that is available. They have always been very helpful, knowledgeable, professional, caring and friendly. They are more expensive than my regular vet, but that is because they provide 24 hour emergency service. They are my go-to when my animals are having problems and I can't get to my regular vet, or they have unusual conditions outside of my vet's expertise. I recommend MedVet without hesitation.

Experiencia positiva: I arrived at 10 am, and I do understand that some animals have more medical emergencies than mine, I dont know if you only had one veterinary doctor, but 8 hours is a lot of time to be seen. That said, I have brought my other animals to your facility and and yes we sat in the waiting room for a while, but your facility has always taken care of my dogs with care and loving ❤️ so I thank you for that, and I'm sure I'll be back again. Experiencia negativa: I would strongly urge you to read this and go somewhere else. Went in last night at 9pm because my dog ate a glass Christmas ornament. After checking in, we were told to wait in our car. After an hour, no one had evaluated her or checked her vitals. No triage. We made a call to the front desk for an update and were told "we are still waiting on triage". 20 minutes later we were called in to sit in a room and told it could be "a few hours before we are seen". While in this room, no one came to see her or assess her. They glanced in our dog's mouth. Apparently, this was their triage. Super thorough! We assumed by being in this room we were now starting the process of the ER visit, however, we were wrong and did nothing but sit there. An hour later, we went to the front desk to inquire about seeing a doctor, testing, etc. The woman seemed surprised no one had been in to see our dog and stated she would have a supervisor speak with us right away and that at that time there were 3 dogs ahead of us. Supervisor offered for us to sit in our car and wait to be seen where we would be more comfortable. So, out we went to sit in our car. Over 2 hours later (now 1:30am) we called the front desk looking for an update as it has now been over 4 hours since arriving at the ER without seeing a dr, without getting an assessment, without vitals, NOTHING. The front desk again seemed surprised. States someone would be out to our car immediately. After 10 minutes and seeing no one, we decided we had wasted too much precious time. After leaving, someone from the front desk called as they were looking for us in the parking lot. They apologized and offered other ER's nearby. Reportedly they had "one bed" and at that time there were 2 other dogs ahead of us. It is alarming that in a span of 2+ hours, this "ER" was only capable of seeing one dog. This is not an emergency room, it is a clinic. There is no emergency evaluation. No triage. This is not medical care. You cannot look at a dog by physical examination or by glancing in their mouth and determine there is no emergency without an x-ray to confirm no perforation after consuming glass. I will add that at no point in the span of our visit of 4+ hours were there more than a handful of cars in the parking lot. Absolutely disgraceful experience and I hope this gets the attention it needs.

MedVet Cleveland
MedVet Cleveland

Brittany, we understand how alarming it is to rush in when you’re worried about your dog’s safety, especially with a concern like possible glass ingestion, and we appreciate you sharing your experience. As a 24/7 emergency hospital, care is provided using a triage-based system, meaning patients are assessed and prioritized based on medical stability and risk at that moment rather than arrival time or the number of cars in the parking lot. Many patients requiring intensive monitoring, procedures, or life-saving treatment are already in our treatment areas and not visible from the lobby, and available beds and doctor oversight directly affect how quickly additional patients can be brought back for full evaluation. Initial triage may involve visual assessment and targeted checks to determine urgency, and diagnostics such as X-rays are discussed once a doctor is able to formally assess the patient and review next steps with the family. While we strive to keep families informed, we recognize that communication during long waits can feel frustrating, particularly late at night, and we’re sorry this visit did not feel clear or reassuring. When wait times extend beyond what a family is comfortable with, our team will always support seeking care at another emergency facility if that feels like the best option for the pet. Above all, we truly hope your dog received the care she needed and is doing well now, and if you would like to discuss emergency triage processes or your visit further, we invite you to call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team or email [email protected] with your review and contact information so it can be shared with the appropriate team.

Experiencia positiva: Update to my husband's recent review. Yes the wait was insane. The front staff tells you a few hours. Reality was noon until 7:30. There is a monitor to follow your pets status but we were " next" for approximately 2 hours. HOWEVER, when all was done the vet and tech staff was wonderful. They were very caring and explained our cats conditions and treatment in detail . If you need an emergency vet the Dr and care is great. Just expect to have a long wait.

Experiencia positiva: The staff (front desk, nurses, doctor, etc) are all really good at what they do, and are good at putting you at ease. They are understaffed, though. And it can be stressful when your pet is going through an emergency and you here “we only have 1 doctor and there are 5 patients ahead of you” That said, they are open 24/7, and with limited options elsewhere it’s great that they are there. My plea to the hospital is to put at least 1 more doctor on at any given time. Experiencia negativa: Recommend going an extra few miles for a different animal hospital in an emergency. Some of the staff are amazing as individuals but the clinical care provided for my pet was not adequate. Our pet was “stable enough” to wait 5 hours in the car after arriving where she went unconscious. Others in the lobby waited 12+ hours to be seen. The appropriate diagnostic tests were not taken to address my pets issue and she was over sedated during their overnight care. I took my pet out of this clinic while she was still sick, due to lack of improvement and over sedation. This cost me thousands of dollars. We ended up having to take her to the VCA after anyways, where she was appropriately treated quickly and didn’t even require overnight care. The choice to go to medvet first cost my pet days of illness, stress and pain, and our family thousands of dollars. I cannot recommend this clinic for any case.

MedVet Cleveland
MedVet Cleveland

Nicole, we’re truly sorry for how stressful and upsetting this experience was for you and your family, especially while your beloved companion was unwell. We understand how difficult it is to wait during an emergency, and we want to reassure you that triage decisions and treatment recommendations are made continuously based on a patient’s condition, diagnostic findings, and the presence of other critically ill patients who may require immediate intervention. Any sedation, diagnostics, or overnight monitoring provided are discussed with and approved by pet families as part of an agreed-upon treatment plan, with the goal of keeping patients as comfortable and stable as possible while we gather information and monitor their wellbeing. We recognize that this experience did not meet your expectations, and we would welcome the opportunity to better understand your concerns and address them directly. Experiencia negativa: I brought my pet in for an emergency visit and waited over two hours just to be told that they would not be able to see my pet. This information should have been communicated at the time of check-in, not after such a long wait. Having to sit there for two hours only for staff to “realize” they couldn’t accommodate us was extremely frustrating and unacceptable—especially for an emergency veterinary clinic. Better communication and triage processes are absolutely needed.

MedVet Cleveland
MedVet Cleveland

Tiana, we understand how frustrating and upsetting it is to wait with a pet you’re concerned about—especially during what you believed would be an emergency visit—and then learn that care could not be provided. Emergency hospitals must continually assess patient volume, medical acuity, and available resources in real time, and those factors can change quickly as more critical patients arrive or situations evolve behind the scenes. Decisions about whether we are able to safely take on additional patients are always made with patient safety as the top priority. When the decision is made to recommend care elsewhere, please know this is done with the best intentions for your pet’s wellbeing, recognizing that care at another facility may be more timely than what we could safely provide at that moment. This is never a reflection of a desire to turn a patient away, but rather an effort to ensure pets receive the care they need without further delay.
We recognize that timely, clear communication is essential in moments like this, and we regret that this information was not available and communicated sooner. While capacity decisions are sometimes not immediately clear at check-in, we understand how difficult that wait can be and appreciate you sharing this feedback. We hope your pet was able to receive the care they needed elsewhere and is doing well, and if you would like to discuss your experience further, we welcome the opportunity for you to speak with a member of our leadership team so we can better understand your concerns and continue improving how we communicate during high-demand periods.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog Xena had bone cancer of the right leg. Required amputation at another facility and follow-up treatment at MedVet Cleveland West. She was doing great, but had a setback due to chemo, taken to MedVet for treatment, admitted to intensive care. She is improving, but I can say the entire staff is FANTASTIC! They are so patient and understanding and keep me updated all the time. The ability to call at any time for any reason is very nice. Due to them being an emergency center, hard for someone to come to the phone all the time. Although, they do call back. It is nice to be able to actually speak to a doctor on the phone and not get just texts or emails, like some other places. Someone always answers, no voicemail. I have found that other facilities only communicate by text or email. With cancer one never knows the outcome, but I feel absolutely confident they are doing the best that can be done. MedVet Cleveland
MedVet Cleveland

Mark, thank you for sharing your experience and for bringing your dog in during what was clearly a frightening and stressful situation. When families arrive overnight to an emergency hospital, it’s because their companion is showing concerning symptoms, and we understand how difficult it is to wait while worried about their comfort and wellbeing. As an emergency hospital, patients are triaged based on medical urgency, and some pets require immediate, life-saving intervention behind the scenes even when the lobby appears quiet; this can mean wait times vary and aren’t always visible or well understood from the front. Our doctors and team are deeply committed to their patients and enter the veterinary profession to care for animals in distress, and we’re sorry that your visit did not feel reassuring or communicative during such a vulnerable moment. We’re glad your dog was able to be seen by your family veterinarian and hope he is feeling better. Experiencia positiva: UPDATE: I have changed my rating from 1 star to 4. The leadership for this vet ER reached out to me to discuss my concerns in a very kind, compassionate and professional way. She explained that there truly is a nationwide shortage of available veterinarians who are trained for emergency vet care. The team has tried hard to recruit more but have been unsuccessful, as is the case across the country. They are working on strategies to increase training of vets to meet this need. I made several suggestions like posting transparent pricing, explaining the short staff issues to clients on their website, spear heading the use of veterinary telemedicine for both ICU and emergency care, and initiating triage protocols to expedite care for those emergencies that present when understaffed who do not need to see a vet within minutes/moments. She took all my ideas to heart. I am confident that things will eventually get better, but with the training backlog of veterinarians, it may take some time still. *During my visit with my sick kitten, the staff was truly kind and tried to provide reassurance that she would be seen. It took 6 hours to see the vet and it was 8.5 hours by the time we left. I believe the care provided was thoughtful, correct, considerate of my wishes and budget and definitely helpful, but if course it took a long time. My kitten started to improve with fluids, anti nausea meds and antibiotics.* Original post: I suspect the staff who work here are excellent, but I wouldn't know because they are not here. They advertise emergency care but they are not staffed to provide it properly. It's nearly 8am. Only 2 people in the waiting area when I arrived before 5am. We are all still waiting because there is only one vet and apparently their priority is the icu inside the hospital which i understand. But this facility does not properly provide coverage for walk in emergencies. Despite the lack of emergency care, they still charge emergency prices. They need to do better. The leadership should be ashamed.

MedVet Cleveland
MedVet Cleveland

Jaime, we’re sorry for the frustration you felt while waiting with your dog. We know how hard it is to come in urgently and then face a long wait. Our hospital provides both 24/7 specialty care and emergency care, and at times this means that our ICU and specialty patients require immediate attention from the doctor on duty. This can make the wait feel longer, especially when the lobby looks quiet, but it does not reflect a lack of concern for your pet. Our team prioritizes patients based on medical urgency, and every pet is evaluated and monitored throughout their visit. We take pride in the dedication and skill of our veterinary professionals, and we never want anyone to feel overlooked. If you’d like to discuss your experience further, please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team so we can answer your questions and support you and your pet.

Experiencia positiva: My cat was bit by something outside so I rushed him to the hospital.. I had a good experience.. was in and out within 1 hour.. they started off with giving me the higher priced choice of getting surgery on my cat which would cost up to $1400 … I told them uhhh can’t afford that so what’s the medicine and go home option? They then told me that is an option to give my cat an antibiotic and send him home with pain meds for $450 which was such a better option.. 3 weeks later and my cat is all healed up.. 4 star because I feel like if I didn’t ask about the cheaper option myself which most people are afraid of, I would of been charged $1400 - next time start with the affordable option for people.. people are already stressed about their pet.. but overall my cat is back healthy and I’m happy about my experience.

Experiencia negativa: Not an overall good experience. I arrived late at night - the front desk staff upon my arrival were extremely nice and welcoming. However, once they lefr, the next shifts were terrible. The doctor was not clear on his plan of care for my dog, and did not provide a detailed list of treatment before starting care for my dog. I was told J had to put a substantial deposit down for care, however they took my dog to treat her without allowing me back with her. They inaccurately gave a prognosis before treating my dog. Even after finding out they were wrong, they continued providing their own care without communicating with me. I was still charged the same amount for care, even though what they determined her ailment to be was completely less in serverity. Staff provided poor communication afterwards and it does not appear actually evaluated my dogs ailments. Extrememly disappointed and dissatisfied. Would never recommend them to anybody!

MedVet Cleveland
MedVet Cleveland

Shawn, we’re very sorry to hear that your visit felt confusing and stressful. We understand how hard it is to seek emergency care late at night, and we never want a pet parent to feel uncertain about what’s happening with their dog.
While we cannot discuss patient-specific details publicly, we do want to clarify that our doctors review findings, recommendations, and estimated costs with families before proceeding with any treatment. Nothing is performed without a pet parent’s permission, and care plans may change as more diagnostic information becomes available. Prognoses are based on the clinical picture at the time of evaluation, and they are updated as results and patient responses evolve.
As an emergency and specialty hospital, our team’s first priority is the wellbeing and safety of every patient in our care. That can sometimes mean stabilizing a pet immediately or performing essential assessments before reunification, depending on their condition. That process should always include thorough communication, and we’re sorry if you felt unsure at any point during your visit.
We appreciate you sharing your concerns so leadership can look into them further. We truly hope your dog is doing well, and if you would like to speak with a member of our leadership team directly, please call us. Experiencia negativa: If I could give less than 1 star I would. Literally have been sitting in waiting room with our dog panting, shaking and crying for over 9 hours now. Update- after 10 hours of trembling, crying, panting on the floor struggling to get up she finally got back to see the Veterinarian. She was amazing. She was thorough, explained everything, and provided us with options. Pebbles is staying there for 1-2 nights so they can run tests and try to minimize her pain. Besides the 10 hour wait most of my frustration comes with the initial triage. We saw many dogs come in, get looked at and sent home. Pebbkes literally weaped and trembled almost the entire 10 hours there. I couldn’t believe no one came and took her back. I understand there are other animals that could come in worse than she is but not for 10 hours and not watching what took place.

MedVet Cleveland

Rich, we’re truly sorry to hear how stressful this was for you and Pebbles, and we understand how hard it is to wait when your beloved companion isn’t feeling well. As an emergency and specialty hospital, we care for both urgent walk-ins and pets who are scheduled to be seen by our specialty departments. We apologize if this wasn’t communicated, as some of the pets you saw being brought back sooner were most likely here for specialty appointments rather than emergency triage. In our ER, patients are evaluated and prioritized based on the severity of their condition, and while this can sometimes lead to longer waits, our team’s focus is always on ensuring every pet receives the right level of care at the right time. We’re glad Pebbles received compassionate care from our doctor and team, and we truly hope she is resting more comfortably. If you’d like to talk through her visit or care plan in more detail, please call and ask to speak with a member of our leadership team. We’re here to support you in any way we can.

Dr McBrien never was rushed, he called me personally to discuss what we were dealing with and made some Changes. Experiencia negativa: $1000 visit - misdiagnosed our cat - 2nd visit and they found what was actually wrong. We were there 15 hours with her dying in front of us. Sent us to a veterinarian in Kent 2 hours away for emergency surgery. The vet in Kent wouldn't let us see her, and wouldn't keep her overnight and she lived for 45 minutes when we got home. Losing a best friend is devastating, and we understand how overwhelming and emotional emergency situations can be, especially when a pet’s condition is rapidly changing. Our team works to stabilize patients, recommend the diagnostics and treatments needed based on their medical condition, and proceed only with the care that is approved by their family. It sounds like you faced incredibly difficult decisions that led you to seek further care elsewhere, and we’re deeply sorry for the painful experience you had throughout the night and afterward. Also- shout out to Logan at the front desk for being a genuinely kind, and empathetic human. Experiencia fantástica: Our beloved Emma was brought to MedVet Cleveland West critically ill — truly on the brink of death. Within hours, their incredible team had stabilized her, run the right diagnostics, and discovered what was wrong when no one else could. They communicated clearly every step of the way, explaining her condition, her treatment plan, and the medications I would need to give her once we got home. What really stood out was their honesty and transparency. They explained the expected costs up front and kept me informed throughout the process — no surprises, no confusion, just compassion and clarity. Three days later, the same dog who could barely lift her head was hopping around the house, tail wagging, eagerly looking for her next meal! Her turnaround has been nothing short of miraculous, and it’s entirely due to the expert care and kindness of the doctors, nurses, and staff at MedVet. Experiencia negativa: This is the last place I would take my pet in a true emergency. Staffing is so poor sometimes that the ER doesn't have anyone performing triage. You could wait hours and your pet could pass without even seeing a technician to take an initial set of vital signs. Experiencia negativa: I am so upset with the doctor and veterinary assistant. I took my cat there and got there a 5:45 pm and was discharged at 1am. My cat wasn’t given a diagnosis other than she needs put on a diet and lose weight. She needed to be seen because she was peeing and something with her bladder and wasn’t moving that well. All they did was, take blood, and urine sample with a total cost of $628. Then the Vet wanted to charge me $278 more for her antibiotics and some inflammatory cream. I wouldn’t go there because of cost and the incompetence of the vet Dr. unbelievable. Extremely rude.

Experiencia fantástica: We had our first experience with MedVet this week, having been referred by a vet at West Park Animal Hospital. The amount of time the MedVet oncologist, Dr. Prudic, spent with us discussing the type of cancer our cat, Crosby, had and our options going forward was absolutely amazing. After performing an ultrasound on the same day as our consultation appointment, she made sure to cover every aspect of his overall health with us in person, which allowed us to make an educated decision to save our Crosby rather than euthanize him. Experiencia fantástica: Highly Recommended! Our beautiful Finn Monster (a Bernadoodle) came in with Bloat (GDV). From the phone call to the staff at the front desk, when I suspected this; to less than an hour later, when Finn was in surgery, this place took amazing care of Finn, and his owners. The front desk was wonderful. Dr Ryan showed me the x-ray within minutes of arrival. Dr McBrien came in to discuss options, while Dr Townsend was already scrubbing in and prepping Finn. This is a life and death emergency in a dog, and I really appreciated how quickly they treated our baby. I called at midnight to check on him, and I wish I remembered the name of the wonderful woman I spoke with at the front desk. The next day when we came to pick Finn up, a staffer came out and hugged me and teared up that Finn made it (I am sorry, I don’t remember her name - she was wonderful, will add back later). They even refunded part of our payment, since they didn’t have to do as much surgery as first thought (never know til the dog is open, if spleen is involved, etc.). HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Took my pup here after he got bumped by a car and yelped, so wanted to rule out internal injuries as everything was fine. They kept him for over an hour, who knows why, and then tried to get me to give him more X-rays etc that would’ve racked bill up higher. I said no and they kept him for 30 minutes more. Ridiculous. Experiencia negativa: Saturday night we took our kitten Sugar there because she was having a medical emergency, she was lethargic, in an extreme amount of pain, she had huge abscesses and visual signs of injury. Not only did it take over an hour for the vets to give Sugar atleast a check up, she was deemed non critical and all we were offered were pain meds after this Sugar wasn’t looked at for five hours . We took Sugar home after not being seen for so long and because the vets at this facility had told us her injury WAS NOT critical we were sure she would be okay until her vet appointment on Monday. Sugar went to the vet on Monday and after examination and X-rays we were told her muscle tissue was torn and her intestine was ripped open. This state was deemed NON-CRITICAL. Sugar needed an emergency surgery last night to even have a chance at living. Sugar is now getting put down this morning because her intestines have torn and leaked too much. Because of this facility our cat wasn’t given the critical care she needed and has now passed away. Rest in peace Sugar baby.

Experiencia negativa: My cat ingested a string so we took him to MedVet. They charged $650 for x rays. Then $125 more an anti nausea med, (he hadn’t thrown up or vomited at all) and fluids. We left with the string still inside of him and my fiancé sent me a picture of the string this morning. He said that all he did was watch while he gently pulled on the string to see if my cat was in distress. He didn’t even notice my fiancé was pulling on the string. I feel like MedVet played on my fears and didn’t actually help my cat. $775 later they didn’t actually do anything, and I feel like they played on every fear I had about my cat dying instead of actually helping.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff here is absolutely incredible. Dr. Lorbach in internal medicine is the best veterinarian I’ve ever met and her and her staff helped save my boy cat. I unfortunately had to meet with oncology and the surgery team here at one point and they too were extremely empathetic, caring, patient, and helped explain everything in a way that was clear and digestible, patiently re-explaining things when you become upset or overwhelmed. All departments, especially internal medicine, have answered my numerous texts and phone calls and are so patient and kind. The vet techs care about your pet with every fiber of their beings and the front desk staff is extremely helpful, caring, and kind offering tissues, hugs, and warm advice. After my experience here, I wouldn’t take my pets anywhere else. The ER can sometimes be a long wait because they have to take the most critical cases first, but once you’re in, you can expect them to do everything in their power to help you. Take a sweater.

Experiencia fantástica: one million out of ten. everyone has been lovely starting from the front desk all the way to the main teams. they handle emergency situations with care and make routine appointments very easy and straightforward. although unideal circumstances, dr prudic and her team (shoutout brittany) have been wonderful with the care of my little guy these last few months. very thorough and always keeping me in the loop. when things are serious, medvet is the place to go!

Experiencia negativa: This review is only about the wait time, not the care, because our cat didn’t even get the chance to be seen. My husband rushed our cat to MedVet around 11:45 a.m. after he developed a urinary blockage. They told him the wait would be about 2–3 hours. After sitting there for 4 hours, we finally gave up and drove to another emergency vet. The moment we walked in, they examined him and found his bladder was severely swollen, and they got him treated right away. It’s heartbreaking to think that if MedVet had just taken a minute to check him when he arrived, maybe he would have been helped sooner. Instead, they called my husband at 10:30 p.m.—almost 12 hours later—to say they could see him then. By that time, our “emergency” had already been handled somewhere else. If you ever find yourself here and are told it’ll be a long wait, please check around. In our case, waiting at MedVet could have cost our cat his life.

Kelcey, we’re very sorry for the stress you experienced and understand how frightening it is to see your cat in distress. It’s never our intention for families to feel unsupported during an emergency. Our hospitals follow a triage system that prioritizes pets in life-threatening condition, which can unfortunately create long and unpredictable wait times for others. We’re truly sorry that this left you feeling your cat’s needs were not addressed quickly enough. We’re glad to hear he was able to receive the treatment he needed and hope he’s recovering well.
