Experiencia negativa: Section 8 establishment, they had us waiting for 3 hours with no updates on our cat. They kept saying they will have a doctor talk to us soon but the doctor never came. Slow as molasses in the winter. Couldn’t tell us if he was dying or Anything. Useless completely useless.

Experiencia fantástica: Go here for emergency services! They are the kindest, most caring people. Took my fur baby in because he was sick and not eating. They were able to find a blockage in his intestines and do surgery to remove it and saved his life. The doctor himself called me to give updates and answer any questions I may have had. I hope never to have a reason to return but I will if necessary.

Experiencia negativa: Waited over four hrs for a blood test that they didn't even find the actual problem. My vet did a blood test for the most common cat illness and it turns out my cat has feline leukemia. Something the that Overland park veterinary er would've figured out for the kind of money I spent plus the time waiting. Very disappointing

Experiencia fantástica: Last week, on February 12, 2026, I brought my dog to Overland Park Veterinary Emergency & Specialty after he experienced four consecutive seizures. I contacted the clinic beforehand and was quite distressed; the staff member who answered was very compassionate and reassuring. She advised me to bring him in, and they assured me they would provide appropriate care. I promptly took him there, and upon arrival, he was immediately examined by a veterinarian who began treatment to stabilize him. I received updates on his condition promptly. The staff were consistently attentive and caring throughout the visit. Overall, I am very satisfied with the level of care provided. While I hope I won't need to return, in the event of another emergency, I will certainly turn to Overland Park Veterinary Emergency & Specialty.

Experiencia fantástica: The compassion and service and friendliness and knowledge was spot on. The vet tech actually saved me from having to euthanize what appeared to be a kitten going into fading kitten syndrome. My mama cat was given the best of care and was able to come home with me to continue her treatment. She had just given birth and was quite ill. I love the staff at OPVES. Oh and it took all night and this is still the review because they had two emergency dog issues prior to my cat. They treated her with fluids and meds while they were handling the issues with the dogs.

Everyone at the front desk , the technicians, and Dr's are exactly who you would want caring for your animal in a crisis. I can't recommend this team highly enough to anyone choosing care options, as they proved they are the best. Experiencia fantástica: My puppy ingested grapes. When I arrived I was helped immediately. The Vet Tech came forward for Beatrice immediately and the Vet began treatment. The communication was excellent. My puppy had to stay 48 hours. The updates were clear and concise. The estimate was higher than the actual cost ( which made me very happy). The costs seemed high but no higher than other emergency clinics I have visited. The only negative is that the Vet Techs did not always introduce themselves.

Experiencia fantástica: They literally saved my dogs life. Yes, it was expensive, but we rushed him in on a Sunday with a terrible wound and they were quick and attentive. He ended up spending several days there while they got him stable, gave him surgery, and monitored his recovery. And what brought me peace through the waiting period was knowing they genuinely cared about him and his comfort.

Experiencia negativa: I absolutely would not recommend this place to anyone. My family and I took our dog to this horrible place earlier this month, she had been throwing up the whole day prior to taking her in. As we arrived, this young woman took our dog to the back and said she was going to take some vitals on her. We were taken into a room to wait for the doctor to come back with results from the evaluation. He walked in and basically told us we had to pay certain fees simply to receive information on what might be wrong with our dog. We didn’t mind the fees, the problem was that the doctor was treating our appointment like a transactional interaction. They made it seem as if we had to pay in order to hear their thoughts on the results. There was absolutely no explanation, the lack of information led us to the conclusion that there was a lack of empathy and consideration. From the options that the doctor gave us, we picked an injection that would treat her symptoms which was given in her lower back. The following days, my dog completely stopped walking. We took her to another emergency vet where they had told us she had fluid in her lungs and an obstruction in her stomach just from making observations on her body and taking her vitals. Ultimately, we had to put her down. Overall, we strongly feel that they didn’t give us accurate information based on the assessment that they had done on her. Our dog was not treated with the proper care and consideration she needed.

Experiencia fantástica: I went on Christmas eve with my cat, Nacho. He had a urinary blockage and the vet/staff took very good care of him. They were super caring and considerate of my situation. They helped me even when I was figuring out how to pay for it. I'm pleased to say that here we are, almost a month later and he's doing wonderful. He's back to my loving, crazy, Velcro kitty. Experiencia fantástica: Unfortunately we are not a stranger to this place but very thankful they are there when we need them. They saved one of our dog’s life when he needed immediate care and more recently took care of our Mulligan for a foreign body obstruction. Though prices are higher for premium emergency care they are very cost aware and don’t try to charge for unnecessary tests or treatments. Especially during Mulligan’s stay everyone I encountered was so genuinely kind even though it was during the holidays and they were extremely busy. Dr. McBrain and Dr. Allen were particularly wonderful! Thank you for all you do!

Experiencia fantástica: I recently had to take my dog in after he puked up a large some of blood one night. I was mostly impressed and happy with the way I was educated on my dogs wellness, and then given a variety of affordable options/resources. They really helped me and my dog find a good, quick solution for until we could find a more affordable care option the next morning. The staff and doctors made the experience really relieving for me; and I could tell my dog felt really comfortable in their care. I couldn’t thank them enough!

Experiencia negativa: Vet techs and vet were great with my Dog, however the older woman with curly hair behind the front desk with hot pink Adidas shoes, not so much. Brought my dog in for GI issues. When we arrived there was a Yorkie who was already in the waiting room, we sat down with our dog and were told to wait on a vet tech to come do triage. 45 minutes goes by (we were warned about lengthy wait times so please not this is not my complaint) and a German shepherd with the EXACT same GI issues my dog was having comes through the front door. I know for a fact it was the same issue because I overheard the entire conversation. The aforementioned woman at the front desk then proceeded to immediately take the dog into an exam room, which irritated myself and the Yorkie owner who had already been waiting. Eventually the vet tech comes out and triages my dog and they take her to the back. About an hour goes by, and the front desk lady then begins calling my dogs name. I tell her that I'm right here, and she said that there was a little confusion as to where she had went, so I told her the techs had taken her to the back. I then confronted her about the situation with the German shepherd to which she replied (VERY dramatically may I add) that she was just front desk staff and not a vet tech or vet, and she didn't dictate which dog was seen (which raised question in my head as to why she was the one doing it in the first place). I told her that I had watched her personally take the dog back, to which she became even more dramatic exclaiming how many critical patients they had in the back, which I understand, but had nothing to do with the situation I was asking her about, not to mention again, she was front desk staff and wasn't actually having to work on these sick babies. So I let it go and decided to take it up with the vet at the end of my visit. After a few hours I then overheard her hear her updating a completely different owner (an older woman with a pixie cut who looks nothing like me) about the reading of my dogs x-rays. At first I thought maybe her animal had the same name, but later found out that was NOT the case. When I took it up with the vet at the end she was very dismissive of my entire experience with the front desk and said they "weren't her staff" which is what prompted this review. Needless to say I won't be back unless absolutely every other animal hospital in the area is unavailable to see my pet. I think it to be completely ridiculous that I was told to wait for a vet tech to perform triage and then saw someone who wasn't even licensed or trained in any capacity triage a different dog who what been there less time and had the same since of urgency. Also there are far cheaper animal hospitals in the area. Update: I have seen their response. I highly doubt they plan on reprimanding this individual in any kind of way; thus I will not be reaching out to them. My phone number is on file as well as the name used in this review. If they actually care about making it right, they can contact me.

Experiencia negativa: This place is a joke. Bathrooms were an absolute mess, I should have asked for a paycheck for picking it up for you. The amount of times I was asked if I was my cats owner, even when sitting in the triage room with her name on the door, and there were only two other people in the hospital was astronomical to me. I was made aware that there was a two hour wait but I had sat at the hospital from 11am to 7pm with no update about my cat. I find it funny that the only people that were decent were the front desk employees and the only front desk person that I had an issue with is also posted in these reviews! I’m talking about the short OLDER curly headed lady, when I walked up to the front desk, just to ask what was going on or what I was waiting for she proceeded to continue typing on her computer like I didn’t exist and continued to do that for a couple minutes until she actually acknowledged me. The doctor laughed in my face when I was crying at my wits end of stress, asking questions and worried for my cats life. When I asked what all had even been done, after been sitting in the triage room for a couple of hours, she said ✨nothing ✨. while when I was asking the staff before hand on what was going on, they would say she was next to be seen??? These people truly do not care. They only want you for your $$. I went elsewhere and my cat is hospitalized and getting back to normal health without the help of these people.

Experiencia negativa: I don’t leave reviews very often but felt this was important. I want to preface with the staff was all very nice and I am sure it was a busy night for them all. However, we brought our two 8 month old puppies in who were both simultaneously experiencing back end lameness. When we arrived, there was one other couple in the waiting room. We explained to the front desk and tech that the dogs were both exhibiting the same symptoms and one had thrown up earlier. They immediately took them back and asked us to wait in the lobby. We waited patiently for two hours. In that time, four other dogs came in and were taken to the back. Three of the owners were seen before us. Two hours later, they brought us to a room to talk to a vet but, instead, we were met with a nurse who told us the vet hadn’t been able to see them yet as more critical cases had come in and we would likely be waiting at least two more hours to be seen. They wanted to bring the dogs in to wait with us. I asked if they had even looked at their vitals and she said they took their vitals but the vet hadn’t looked. When they brought our dogs in, they were walking on their own but very stiff. Our female had clearly peed all over herself. Moments later, our male could no longer use his back legs. We called another emergency vet and they told us they could see us so we left. Again, the front desk was very kind and apologized. When we reached the next vet, they immediately took vitals and assured us they were on the normal range. We waited patiently and were able to see the vet for a brief physical exam. He immediately grew concerned based on the dogs’ wobbling and enlarged pupils that they were experiencing some sort of poisoning. I won’t go into too many details because that has little to do with this but, thankfully, we were able to begin treatment and they are now stable. All this to say, I realize decisions have to be made based on severity of cases in emergency vets… but I’m very disappointed and concerned a vet never even looked at our dogs for two hours to determine whether they were experiencing an emergency or not. Thank god we decided to follow our instincts and get them to another location.

Experiencia positiva: Front desk and vet assistants are very nice and compassionate but the doctor was cold and stoic and really didn’t seem like he wanted to be there. If you love your pet like I do I would not take your pet there. This was our second experience and last time when my dog was very sick and lethargic with a fever, we brought her there and they couldn’t find anything wrong with her (and a huge bill of course) and then two days later I took her to the vet and she had an ear infection so they didn’t even bother to look in her ears. I will be going elsewhere in the future.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve had to bring 2 of my dogs here in the past year. The first one, we had to euthanize due to the amount of treatment he would need and not being able to afford it all. They made his passing the best that I feel like it could be. They gave us as much time with him before and after as we needed. And they sent us a card that everyone signed, which is just incredibly thoughtful. This most recent visit, I was certain we were going to have to put our fur baby down, but they were able to get him stable. We called ahead (as recommended on their website) and they were ready with a gurney when we arrived. The techs had him (all 90lbs of him) out of the car and into the building before I knew it. The admin team is amazing! They were calm and understanding with me on the phone, at check in and when we checked out. The doctor went over everything very thoroughly. They don’t push treatment on you but let you know what they recommend, are amazing at answering questions honestly, and don’t make you feel judged when you have to make those tough decisions. They explained discharge information thoroughly and sent me home with a print out of what he was given while there, and all things discussed, including the discharge information. I really appreciate the written down info as it was a long night and I was overwhelmed, emotional and exhausted, so it was a good refresher when I got home and could read everything. They also send information back to your primary vet so they are up to date as well. No one wants to have to take their pets to the ER, but if you do, this is the place to go!

Experiencia fantástica: My puppy has been sick for over a month, literally since the day I got her, and had been to who I was going to consider her regular Vet 4 times during that time, with absolutely no change and no improvement after almost $800 in visits and medications, despite my concerns that she was showing no improvement. After worsening, I took her to Overland Park Veterinary Emergency and Specialty and on day 3 she was MUCH improved already! I am extremely happy and grateful! Experiencia negativa: I feel that your front office desk staff could benefit from some training in kindness and compassion. We came in with our sick dog on Sunday. November 23 around noon. There was only one other dog being checked in, but it seemed a little chaotic. We gave our information to two different front desk ladies and were immediately taken to a room. We were told to not leave because there was a chance our dog could be contagious which I understand their concern. She told us we would be seen in 2 to 3 hours. When we told her that we did not realize it would be that long, she rudely responded that anywhere we go would take that long. We ended up leaving and found another place that would take him immediately. I am just very disappointed at the lack of care and concern that we were greeted with. I’m not sure if they were having a bad day or if this is their general overall attitude, but either way it does not make for a very pleasant visit.

Experiencia fantástica: My my dog had started choking and it looked like he wasn’t going to be able to clear it and he was breathing, but it looked like he was having difficulty. We are new to the area so we called the ER. I was very upset and nervous and the lady that answered the phone I can’t remember her name. She lives in Belton and she was very calm. She gave us directions and told us to call her said that she would bring a gurney out if we needed It in the Vet tech were amazing. They were very calming. Our doctor was very thorough out and didn’t try to give us things that we didn’t need. I would definitely return here.

Her and the team gave me time to decide what was best, and were very supportive. They made both myself and my dog as comfortable as they could while we said goodbye. The doctor's kindness really shown through. The outcome still hurts, but I was grateful for the support.

Experiencia fantástica: We drove from Topeka due to lack of emergency vet care and we were so grateful for the care they provided for our cat following being hit by a car. From the moment we walked in the door we knew our cat was in great care. Surgery was quick and we were heading home the same day! Experiencia negativa: I took my dog Nova here after speaking with Poison Control regarding a potentially dangerous ingestion situation. We were checked in and they immediately took my dog to the back before a doctor ever spoke with me, which already felt uncomfortable — but I trusted the process. We waited well over an hour with no updates, and I could clearly hear my dog barking nonstop from the back which was extremely stressful. Every time I asked questions or tried to clarify anything with the front staff, I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing them. The energy was dismissive and unprofessional. The front desk area smelled strongly of marijuana, which did not help build confidence in the level of care happening behind the scenes. When I finally did speak to the doctor after a long wait, I found out that absolutely nothing had been started — no induced vomiting, no medical intervention — despite poison being listed as #1 priority on their posted triage list. When I corrected the inaccurate mg amount the doctor had been basing her decision on, instead of discussing it professionally she clapped her hands in my face multiple times and even slammed her laptop shut mid conversation. I have never experienced a medical professional respond to a terrified owner that way while their animal was in distress. It was shocking and extremely unprofessional. I asked for printed blood results and printed quote totals so I could track and protect myself — and that was also met with attitude and condescension. After nearly 3 hours there, they came back into the room and informed me they would not be treating my dog at all and handed her back to me. I left and immediately contacted Poison Control again directly. I have since seen other reviews mentioning issues with quotes changing — so please, if you end up here, request everything in writing. I never want another pet owner to experience what I did — terrified, dismissed, and left without any actual treatment after hours of waiting. If you have another emergency option available, go somewhere else.

Experiencia fantástica: I can’t share enough positivity about this hospital. A few weeks back, my pup, Piper, got into something chicken nuggets that had dog toxic spices in it, and of course, I freaked out with animal poison control and rushed her in. They were attentive and kind, listening and doing a full work up before sending us home, and never made us feel crazy for bringing her in! When suddenly just a few weeks after, my dog had a seizure like episode at home at ten pm and is shockingly ill after being her normal self all day- suddenly unable to walk or control her body/movements, we called and got her there in 10 minutes. As soon as we walked in the door, a handful of amazing and caring vet techs ran up and took my 60 lb dog and rushed her back to do everything they can. Despite how hysterical I was, they provided empathy, support, and compassion to me AND Piper. When piper needed to admit to the hospital we were horribly scared, they let us see her and say goodnight until we went home. We got regular updates, and they let me call as much as I needed to check on her. Early the next morning, they let us bring in her toys and blankets to make sure she felt safe. They did everything they could without even knowing what happened, and were thorough and mindful to ensure her safety. By 4pm the day after admission, they let us know my piper was doing so much better and we could take her home. She’s only been home an hour or so now, but I wanted to let everyone know that if your fur baby is your whole world, and they suddenly get very sick, this is the place to take them to. Although we would do anything to cover the cost of a vet bill for something like this, they were very mindful of the cost - being completely transparent about cost and honestly, kept it very low for the amount of treatments given. Thank you, OP Vet emergency, you made sure to keep the thing most important to me in this whole world safe! In the nicest way possible, I hope we never have to see you again, but am so thankful we did. From chicken nuggets to seizures, I could not trust an animal hospital more. She is home, tucked in with all her many, many toys and pillows, right where she should be .

Experiencia negativa: I was not satisfied with the care my dog received. I believe the vet tech or assistant entered the room, inquired about my visit, and returned to collect her vitals. She assured me she would return with her. However, an hour passed, and I visited the front desk to inquire about the delay. The receptionist informed me that the doctor would examine my dog first before speaking with me, which was an unusual procedure for me. Despite not consulting me on their process, they administered an injection and IVs without my consent and still charged me for these services. Later, the doctor arrived, who appeared to lack the necessary knowledge about the situation. Furthermore, I discovered that the person who had taken my dog back for vitals had not informed the doctor of the crucial reason for our visit. The entire experience was disorganized and unprofessional, leaving me with a negative impression. I will not be returning to this clinic.

Experiencia negativa: I’ve been a couple times for my cat and every appointment takes a long time. Ultimately, I have spent over $2k with no real answers to what is wrong with my cat and she’s just not getting better. Experiencia negativa: Major break down in communication between staff and transparency of pricing. Had my cat at local vet for urinary issues. They attempted catheter to no avail. They called and spoke to vet at this facility and told them what was attempted, what sedation he was under etc. We rushed Petey right over for them to take care of the blockage. They did original assessment and stated they would try catheter 1st. I explained again that my vet had tried this and was not successful. They assured me they did this all the time and would be successful in this endeavor to the tune of 1500 to 3000 (wide range estimate). The catheter procedure that was attempted at my local vet only cost 133. I told them to proceed with what they thought was best. Low and behold catheter was unsuccessful. Got a call from vet apologizing but that petey would need surgery to remove blockage. She told me would be 1000 more than original estimate of 1500 to 3000....So around 4k. Still a ton of money but I dont want to lose my best friend. I tell them to go ahead with surgery. 40 min later get a call back from Dr stated surgery team cannot come in until the next morning to complete surgery and that they would monitor him through the night. Oh and ummm Im so sorry the surgery is more than what I told you. I didnt realize they upped the prices. Ok what is the new price! It will be 5-6k, well with what I just tried closer to 7k...... Full blown meltdown over this last conversation crying and contemplating my cats life because they are sure to make you aware its pay this or put your cat down. I call back for more clarity on pricing and ask why I have to pay for the portion that was unsuccessful. She told me I only owed 700 for that part. Ok we do what we have to do to save a member of our family. Petey has surgery, they say it went well. Next morning we should be good to pick petey up. Phone call Sunday morning from surgeon. Pete is going to need to stay another 24hrs because he was panting in the kennel in the morning. Started listing possible heart issues. This is where I lose it. He then tells me the original estimate was 7-8k. No sir that is not what was quoted from Dr before. I called that afternoon and told them I was coming to get my cat. I was met with "Ill have to see if we can do that!?" Is my cat a prisoner right now, weird response! I will be coming to get my cat. Another night there would have tacked on an additional 1500. Ridiculous. Go and get petey, they make me sign a waiver. Vet tech brings him out with meds. I asked him about the breathing issue the vet said happened this morning and if he would need any meds for that. Vet tech stated he had been here since 8am and petey was fine the whole time no breathing issues at all. All trust out the window for this facility and how they conduct business. Everyone was friendly ill give them that. I did not go in with any preconceived notions just care and concern for my cat. Left feeling taken advantage of. They are playing games with pets lives and the emotions of their owners. Not ok.

Experiencia negativa: Will never return. Vets are real disrespectful all because you want to know what’s taking so long. Waited for almost 4 hours for nothing and for them to get mad because I wanted a refund. Who else wouldn’t want their 1300 dollars back for no service no treatment. Just disrespect from the veterinarian because they chose to work on other animals that arrived after us and say nothing. But expects us to wait a few more hours. I will never go to these people ever again if I even want my dog alive.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog ate part of a plastic spoon. The vet suggested giving the dog medicine to induce vomiting. No trace of the spoon either after vomiting or in its stools a few days later.

Experiencia fantástica: The team at OP Emergency Vet is fantastic! They saved my dog’s life!! The problem was diagnosed quickly and the surgery was successful. From front desk to vet tech to consulting vet to surgeon. Everyone communicated clearly about diagnosis, prices, timing and next steps. Our vet accurately diagnosed the problem and surgery went well. And they must have said 100 times, call us anytime with questions. So wonderful to have such great support and compassion. Hopefully you won’t need them, but if you do, they are the best.

Experiencia fantástica: We had an amazing experience here! I took our grandpa dog in for a what we thought was a copperhead bite. I called ahead explained the situation and the staff was so understanding and explained the wait time and process. When we go there I explained he was questionable friendly and normally we muzzle for safety but due to swelling that was not an option and they took him back without hesitation on their part. Dr Brittany was amazing through the whole process and very thorough checking all possible options before administer anti venom that is very expensive. My guy was able to come home same night and is doing great!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Breckenridge is a really good vet! She helped our 2 year old puppy overcome sludge in his urethra. He came home same day. Treatment is expensive folks make sure you have pet medical insurance.

Experiencia fantástica: I came in with my Simba baby, he was crying in his pet porter. The receptionist had a lot going on when we showed up. She worked through each family quickly and efficiently. When it was time to check in she was very kind to get our info and what all was going on. We were there about 3 hours from start to finish. The staff was amazing and care about making my baby boy more comfortable, and making sure he got the care he needed. Thank you isn't enough for what you did for him. They came out and explained everything like costs and what the plans were of treatment. What worked best for me. They came out with updates on how he was doing with what all they had to do, and how much longer we expected to be there. The releasing person was super friendly answered any questions it had. Even told me I had I lover boy there. In response I said I know. He's my sweet heart. Simba says thank you also.

Experiencia fantástica: Our visit started off on a great note when we called to inquire about the wait time, and the staff member answering the phone was kind and very helpful. We brought our cat in for something that could have been a serious medical emergency, but turned out to be a false alarm after an x-ray and an exam by the vet on duty. We appreciated how patient everyone was with us. No one made us feel stupid for bringing her in when it turned out nothing was wrong. Prices for an x-ray and exam were slightly higher than what we paid at our old vet, but well worth the piece of mind after hours.

Experiencia fantástica: My dog was very sick when I arrived. I was greeted immediately by courteous tech along with friendly reception. They took him in right away and cared for him for 2 days in ICU and I could not be happier with the care. He is home and recovering and I am grateful. I say overpriced because emergency care always is I was willing to pay the price. Veterinary care was excellent and I was able to call any time night or day to check on him and received detailed update.

Experiencia fantástica: The veterinarian and all the staff I encountered were absolutely fantastic. Everyone was knowledgeable and caring. I had a lot of questions but the veterinarian took time to listen and address all of my concerns. There was no judgement when I turned down certain treatment options due to cost, the vet instead actually worked with me to find a treatment plan that was appropriate and within my budget. This absolutely will be my go-to emergency vet from now on, and I'll recommend it to everyone I know!

Experiencia fantástica: My dog has been having some new allergies that he never had before and it has been scary. So my mom and I took him to the ER and they were amazing. My biggest thing was they made sure we didn’t have to spend more than we needed to, and I would spend anything for my pets health if it meant he lived longer. Highly recommend ❤️

Experiencia fantástica: Our cat, Loki, had a really scary, near death experience and we were referred to OPVES for emergency care and to see a specialist. We are so extremely grateful for the care and compassion that we have received from the OPVES staff. From the front desk staff, to vet techs, to the emergency veterinarians who saw Loki, to Dr. Portanova who we have been seeing for regular appointments to monitor Loki’s bloodwork, the staff here are incredible! Experiencia fantástica: A tragic accident caused my sweet Pomeranian Hershey to have her eye come out of the socket. We were relieved to be able to find a close ER Vet. We called ahead and they gave us advice on how to make her comfortable and they even calmed me down. I still remember the frantic drive there and the tears welling in my eyes. My husband and I brought her in and the secretaries were very empathetic but had a calming presence. The vet assistant came out and swaddled Hershey in a blanket. I could barely look at Hershey with blood all over but they said they'd give her pain meds and I was happy to hear they would take away some of her pain. They ended up having to intubate her and things didn't seem to get better for her despite them trying everything. It was suggested we put her down. They led us into the back and I saw Hershey hooked up to all the tubes. They explained to us in great detail the problems and how she wasn't expelling as much CO2 as they would want her to be. I understood they didn't want her to suffer--and I didn't want that either. They explain the process of putting her down and let us mourn for as long as possible. Even though I walked out without my childhood best friend, I knew she was no longer in pain. I thank each and every one of the workers and staff there that day and the peace you brought my baby and me. I know this job must be hard but at the end of the day you really do make a difference and I am forever grateful for the support we were given...

Experiencia fantástica: Everyone was professional and friendly. They took time to explain treatment plan and associated costs upfront. My dog stayed 2 nights and we were allowed to visit him when we wanted to. The ICU techs and doctors were compassionate, caring and knowledgeable. I’m so thankful they are there to provide this care.

Experiencia positiva: It took 4 hours for dog to be hooked up to IV and given antibiotics for a life threatening situation. I am still waiting to hear back on being billed for a day when checked out at 5:00 am. Previous early evening techs were great.

Experiencia negativa: FAKE REVIEWS!! Please be aware they are having their workers and their families & friends put positive reviews!! They had such a low score. Please check on their YELP!! Notice all the praising reviews are within one Mo th and their from people that don’t post reviews much?! Shows how crooked they are! And how awful they are! When u first posted most reviews was one star a month ago. This place just takes your money, liars and no corporate!! I can see why there is so many bad reviews. Your manager at the ER Overland park location named "liz". Refused to tell me if the Vet documented that they would need my approval for future tests to our pet. We were looking over the invoice and believed they charged us for unauthorized charges. When I asked, Liz kept over talking me, interrupting me and being rude. I had to repeat myself because she would not answer my question so I am assuming they did not notate my statement of approvals so they could just keep charging us. She was completely unprofessional and HUNG UP ON ME. That was completely unacceptable. She then told her personnel that she refused to talk to me and send me to her voicemail (so no one will call me back). We are contacting corporate and filling a complaint against her. Liz emailed me as well stating she would refuse any treatment for our pets that would need it for emergency care attention. Also, $6k later; they still couldn't figure out what was wrong with my cat.

Experiencia fantástica: Our lab got ahold of an inhaler found outside. We rushed her in with a heart rate of 182 knowing this was a toxic situation that could be fatal. They were very quick taking Oakley in to be evaluated and came up with a treatment plan. They kept us updated and informed during her stay and were amazingly compassionate. The vet was transparent on pricing so there were no surprises when we were able to pick her up. Highly recommend this place for any emergent situation.

They saved our dog Penny's life, and we are forever thankful. We arrived late on a Wednesday night after a frantic three-hour drive, with our dog in a state of septic shock following complications from an earlier emergency surgery. She was critically ill, and we were terrified. From the moment we walked in, the team was compassionate, professional, and took immediate, decisive action to stabilize her. Throughout her multi-day stay in the ICU, the communication was exceptional. The veterinarians, including Dr. Mick, Dr. Esary, Dr. Grigsby, and Dr. Heilman, provided regular, detailed updates. They patiently answered all of our questions and took the time to explain her complex condition. It was clear that Penny was benefiting from a true team of specialists who consulted on her case to manage difficult issues like her unstable blood sugar, post-operative ileus, and the severe infection. Thanks to their expertise and tireless, around-the-clock care, our little dog made a miraculous recovery. When she was finally stable enough for discharge, they sent us home with a very clear, detailed plan for her continued care at home. Experiencia fantástica: I recently took my critically ill chihuahua to the clinic and he was treated with such care and compassion by the staff. He had a four day stay at the clinic and I received regular phone calls each day with updates on his health. All treatment options and associated fees were discussed during these calls so there were no surprises at discharge time. On day two of his stay, I was allowed to spend time with my pup to comfort him and see the progress he was making. The staff was kind and accommodating and didn’t rush me to end my visit. I was very pleased with the care my pup received during his stay.

Experiencia fantástica: I am so thankful to have found Overland Park Veterinary Emergency and Specialty. My pup has unfortunately needed multiple surgeries from various growths. Dr. Grigsby has been nothing but thorough, compassionate, and knowledgeable. She has cared for my dog as if she was her own; I truly trust her expert advice. Dr. Aeschlimann is a confident, highly skilled surgeon who has expertly removed three separate growths from my dog - I am so grateful to her. She walked me through every step of decision making, explaining rationale, providing options, and following up with my dog's progress. The nurses are also wonderful. It warmed my heart when my anxious dog relaxed at the sight of her favorite RN, who loved on my dog and quickly made her at ease. I hate that my dog keeps getting these scary growths, but I am so appreciative to this team for caring for my dog and treating her as if she was their own pet.

Experiencia fantástica: I am so thankful for the group here! I have a very defensive and reactive dog (history of abuse/neglect from a prior home) and he went into straight survival mode. They weren't able to work on him during the first appointment but were amazing at getting us in for another try, helping me with ways to get him calmed before the second visit, working with me to understand my pups beeds and checked to me on the things I knew would/wouldn't work for him. One we were able to get him calmed enough, they ran all sorts of tests and diagnostics to help us better understand his condition and spent a good amount of time explaining findings and next steps. I never felt rushed - they were so patient with all of my questions - and they made it clear that they were my.partner in this and that I could always call with questions or to bounce ideas off them. Our local vet is amazing but I am also so thankful to have a specialty contact too that I feel comfortable with as well! Thank you all so much!

Experiencia fantástica: I am so pleased with my experience here. My dog came down with extreme hives and itching on his entire body on a Saturday and was just not being himself. After getting turned away from his vet in our hometown that is also an emergency vet I felt hopeless and didn’t know how to help him as no vets would be open until Monday. I headed to this place at 9:00pm knowing it was gonna be about an hour and half just to drive there alone. I have never felt more heard and seen at a vet. They were so kind and I could tell they genuinely cared about what I was saying and understood that I was concerned with the behavior he was showing. I waited for 4 hours before the doctor could see him but I absolutely would do it again over and over for the care I was shown here. They never once made me feel stupid for coming in or that my concerns weren’t valid. 10/10 staffing and customer service. I would absolutely pick them in an emergency situation if something ever happened again!

Experiencia fantástica: We have used OP ER Ver on 3 different occasions on 3 different dogs. Each time we have been, the care they received has been excellent. We will definitely use again if our regular vet isn't available
