Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I called around last weekend because our senior dog had declined quickly from morning to the afternoon. The receptionist let us know that Dr. Lyle would be giving us a call back. Our sweet boy ended up having a seizure not long after the phone call. My husband called back and Dr. Lyle told him to head his way as soon as possible. I can’t express how compassionate this vet office was. Dr. Lyle stayed after hours for us and gave us all the time we needed. I do know this-if we ever end up adding another fur baby to our home, Crest will have our business.

The only negative I have is that your appointment may not be on time. The staff takes time to be with each patient, worth the wait for my dogs to get the same attention!! ❤️

Experiencia fantástica: If I could give an hundred stars, I would. Every single person here is exceptional. They book out a little far (because they’re awesome), but when my dog had an 105° fever and I called sobbing, they told me to bring him in immediately and they’d make it work. They truly went above and beyond for my dog and I! He was so sick so he was there for a while. They let me come visit whenever I wanted, even outside of business hours, and stay as long as I wanted. A few staff members even gave me their personal cell phone numbers so I could check in on my baby day or night. This was over Labor Day weekend, Dr. Lyle had a trip planned and ended up cancelling it to stay with my dog. I never would’ve asked him to do that but I was sooo glad he did. Not only did they provide exceptional care for my baby Kovu and emotional support for me, they were incredibly conscious of pricing. It’s hard to find a truly affordable vet, even harder to find one that cares as much as Dr. Lyle and his team. But both? At one point Dr Lyle said “I’m not worried about the money, I just want to save your dog”. There’s a special place in heaven for this man and his team. Sorry this review was so long winded, I could go on and on about how amazing this place is.

Our cat can't handle car rides, but she needed to come say goodbye to a family member, and Dr. Lyle prescribed a liquid calming medicine that worked perfectly. Finances are very strained atm, so it was such a relief to find out it was less than $10. We've been coming here for years, and will continue to for years as well. <3

Experiencia fantástica: My animals have been patients of Dr. Lyle and his associates for many years and have enjoyed their gentle, caring methods of ensuring their health and well-being. Last year my golden retriever became ill and we though we might have to euthanize her. I brought her to the clinic, unsure of whether or not I was doing the right thing. She had a pretty serious condition and it could have gone either way. The doctors let me know that the decision was mine and that there was no wrong move. They told me my options and made me feel confident in my decision to try medications to relieve her symptoms. It worked and she did quite well for the most part until about two weeks ago. I went back and got more medication but unfortunately this time it didn't work and she continued to go downhill. Today I took her to Dr. Lyle for the last time. It was an incredibly comfortable experience, albeit very sad, he and his staff were very supportive, caring and compassionate not only towards me, but more importantly towards my dog Rylee. I was able to be right there with her as she quietly and calmly went to sleep and out of pain and discomfort. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone who loves their pet. I live nearly 30 minutes away and in an area with many veterinarians but choose to travel the extra distance because of the outstanding care we receive here. Not only is the care above reproach, the costs for their services is far less than most others in the Kansas City area as well. Crest Animal Hospital is one of KCs best kept secrets.

Experiencia fantástica: I've been going to Dr. Lyle since he bought Crest Animal Hospital. I think he is a great vet. He is so good with the animals and if there's a problem he figures out what it is. He once operated on my cat (bladder issues) not knowing what the outcome would be. Well my then 2 yr old is now a 21 yr old cat. I believe Dr. Lyle totally saved his life that day. Best Vet and best cat ever.

Experiencia fantástica: We first saw Dr Lyle for our foster dog Powell back in 2021 for a TPLO surgery and we’ve seen him more recently for another foster pup scrappy doo. The diagnosis he gave us was not what we wanted to hear but the meds scrappy doo has been on for months now has him running some again and no episodes of not being able to walk. Most recently our personal dog needed an amazing vet for a very grim diagnosis we got on him and I knew Dr Lyle was who I needed to see. We finally saw him and he was very thorough with Eddie and even asked us how we were doing. He’s very kind, caring and truly loves the pets he takes care of. He’s also honest and transparent . Eddie is still feeling pretty good as of today so we will just take it day by day and see how his cancer diagnosis goes. Thank you for giving us more time with our buddy and finding something wrong with him no one else found! Due to your thoroughness. Experiencia fantástica: My dog actually likes coming here! Cain doesn't let anyone touch his paws without a fight, and Crest gets his nails clipped in impressive timing without having to sedate him. Crest was able to fix him as one of the doctors specializes in ACL repair after having 3 failed surgeries at a different clinic. Update: don't know how many years later, but Dogtor Lyle is the only vet I trust for surgical procedures for my fur babies!

Experiencia fantástica: There is not enough good things I can say about this place first off I called my dog was very sick. The receptionist told me that she needed to go talk to the doctor and she would call me right back. I didn’t even take her five minutes to call me back and she had an appointment scheduled for me for the same day. When I got there, the receptionist people treated my dog like he was just amazing. Last, but not least, Dr. Lyle had the most genuine heart. He explained everything to me in great detail. He gave me options, but at the same time was very transparent with me. I said goodbye to my fur baby yesterday. It was very hard. Dr. Lyle made me feel like I wasn’t alone. He gave me as much time as I needed. I highly recommend him.

My baby had to have a carcinoma removed and they treated her so well and went above and beyond to take care of some teeth bothering her too. The doctor called to follow up and check on her after she came home. She’s such a delicate and relatively skittish baby but they make her feel so safe. It’s the only time I’ve ever taken her to a doctor where she doesn’t scream and stress herself. They really love the animals and want to help them. I really couldn’t imagine a more positive vet experience.

My dog Dale had a major knee surgery and after 8 weeks of recovery, he is back to loving life, like before. I received estimates from other vets , but went with Dr. Lyle as from day one he impressed me with his knowledge, caring and welcoming demeanor ++ cost was reasonable compared to other vets. I was so correct with this selection! I found the entire process of the ACL surgery a bit overwhelming (10+ week healing process and protocol). Dr Lyle ensured my dog was fully cared for after the procedure. He provided me with reference materials to support my dog and was available to answer questions anytime I needed. His staff is friendly and welcoming and the office is always clean . My dog is fully healed, back to running jumping. Thank Dr Lyle for all you do!

Experiencia fantástica: We were referred to Dr. Lyle by our vet for TPLO surgery on our dog. Ivy is healing nicely and Dr Lyle and his staff couldn’t have made our experience better! He also introduced us to the lick sleeve on her surgery leg which is so much easier on her than the cone of shame! She doesn’t try to get to her stitches or bother her leg with the sleeve on. Our only caution is the sleeve wraps around her abdomen and makes it red and irritated so we use the sleeve during the day and the cone at night to reduce the irritation on her tummy. She has such a hard time navigating with the cone that it makes her very unhappy so we love the freedom the lick sleeve gives her.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr Lyle is absolutely the best. He truly cares about what's best for his patients and doesn't charge an arm and a leg. He truly saved one of standard poodles. I'd absolutely tapped out on her chronic ear infections..my regular vet had exhausted all their options. The "cocktail" of ea r meds that he gave me completely knocked out what kept coming back. It really was an answer to prayers and no expensive surgery that would've left her deaf. His staff is wonderful too. They are so kind and you can tell they love our fur babies too!!

Experiencia fantástica: 100/10 stars. So grateful to have found Dr. Lyle & the whole Crest team - and the cost was unbelievably manageable. They are BUSY but it's clearly because the care is top tier. Called on a Monday about my senior cat who was in dental pain and having trouble eating. Dr. Lyle was out of the office for a few days but called me the same night on his personal cell to discuss and reassure me he'd fit her in later that week. He saw her in between orher patients that same Thursday and found she needed some extractions. Despite being fully booked, Dr. Lyle managed to fit in my cat's full dental + extractions the following week. From first call to pick up after surgery, everything done within 10 days. And that's despite being a new patient, because she was in pain and he wanted to help. The whole team fielded so many of my phone calls and questions and I'm just so, so grateful.

Experiencia fantástica: I came in without an appointment paranoid my cat had swallowed something. The vet believed he didn't, but waived the emergency fee and just charged me for a quick exam. Very caring people here, I plan to come here next time I need a vet.

Experiencia fantástica: I wish I could give Crest Animal Hospital staff and Doctors a higher rating. I have been to a couple other vets in the area when my 3 year old dog started limping back in 2022. Everyone kept saying she was fine and that I was over reacting. Dr. Lyle immediately knew that she needed a ACL TPLO (We ended up getting both done here) With lots of care and patience, my fur baby is running around the back yard like before. If you are wanting attentive staff and an exception doctor that really listens to you, Dr. Lyle and his staff are where you need to go!

My former vet retired and with the possibility of a bone injury I chose to take her to Dr. Lyle at Crest Animal Hospital because he was noted as excelling in orthopedic surgery. Experiencia fantástica: After receiving a misdiagnosis from Pet Resource Center I took my cat Nugget in for a second opinion and it was a difference of day and night from when I dropped her off in the morning to when I picked her up. She had a respiratory infection NOT a tooth problem and it was quickly addressed and she was given the proper medication. I will recommend this place to anyone I know with pets themselves. I cannot thank you guys enough. Dr. Lyle is a life savor. 5/2024 Coming back to update this and confirm I made the right choice as a pet owner to choose this clinic. Honest, kind, compassionate people that work here. I appreciate being told that I’m just a worried mom and my babies teeth are in good shape and don’t need a cleaning. Dr. Lyle is here for you and your pet family, NOT your money. 1/2025 I cannot remember her name but she helps me almost every time I’m in office, this past Saturday she went above and beyond by helping me along with another customer get out of a rut in the parking lot after a historic winter storm, I was in tears frustrated with personal matters on top of getting stuck in the parking lot. She even gave me a hug and checked on me when I came back today (Monday) to make a payment. I cannot appreciate this office enough for the care they provide, through and through.

It has taken some time for me to post since the passing of my precious 14 y/o LooDog in October 2024. She started showing signs of, "It's time mama", and Dr. Lyle helped our family make that dreaded decision. He gave us all the facts and stood by our decision whichever way that was going to be. When the time came, he showed such compassion and gentleness with our sweet baby. Never once did he make me feel rushed through the process and when she passed, he asked me if he could pray over LooDog and our family. He thanked LooDog for being such a great companion, devoted friend, and protector of our family. He asked for peace and comfort for us through the grieving process. Never once has any vet offered such support and compassion as Dr. Lyle and his phenomenal staff. My fur babies will never go to any other vet. ❤️

Experiencia fantástica: UPDATE 12/2024 I am so very thankful for Dr. Lyle and his staff. They are friendly, helpful, honest, and caring. They understand when finances are tight and do their absolute best to provide care within your budget. We took our kitty in recently for a possible bowel obstruction. They kept him a couple days for observation and sent him home with medicines that very well could have saved his life. He is a happy healthy kitty now. These people care. Experiencia fantástica: My dog Rosie broke her leg and I was quoted around 4k, I called so many places asking if they would do it for lower than that. When I had given up Dr. Lyle called me and said he would do it, and gave me a price that was well within my budget. I almost cried, he has taken such good care of her. I am about an hour away from this place and i am so happy to make the drive. I highly recommend them. I’ve never seen such a great caring place. You can genuinely tell they care, which gives me a lot of comfort in taking my dog there.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr. Lyle and his staff are the best! Hands down! I drive 20-30 mins to his office and I’d drive further and wouldn’t blink an eye. Dr. Lyle cares so much about the animals he sees it’s so incredibly obvious. He could charge so much more for his services but you can tell he does this job because he wants to help the animals and their clients. They are always busy but that tells you something… they have a lot of business and they take time to love your babies like they are your babies.

Dr. Lyle called directly and even followed up with a call the next morning to see what my dog needed and to try to work us into his schedule. The price quoted for the ACL surgery was super competitive. The Dr is a stand up guy and it felt like he really cared about an animal in pain.

I've taken all my dogs to Crest over the yrs. I tried others, for one reason or another (like when I moved out of town), but no other place seemed to have the same caring & compassionate energy. I won't take my pets anywhere else.

Experiencia fantástica: We’ve gone to Dr. Lyle for three of our dogs: one for a broken leg, one for a CCL surgery, and one for what turned out to be heartburn. When our dog fractured her leg it was on a Sunday so we went to Blue Pearl as our regular vet was closed. They quoted us $5-6k for surgery with no other options after doing X-Rays and putting her in a splint. The next day we called our regular vet who referred us to Dr. Lyle. When we came in he took more X-Rays as BP’s were blurry and suggested that due to our dog’s lightweight breed, her age, and the location of her fractures, casting and kenneling her would be the best route. He could have insisted on surgery like Blue Pearl did, and we would have gladly paid for it, but he said that he thought natural healing would be best for our girl long term. The entire bill we had from Dr. Lyle, including X-Rays, visits, and splits every two weeks, was less than what we paid at Blue Pearl for an emergency X-Ray and splint. Three years later, our girl has no issues at all for her leg — even when running at full speed as a sight hound. A couple of years later another dog of ours tore his CCL. Dr. Lyle suggested that the tightrope method of repair would be best. When I asked if it was true that dogs that tore one CCL were likely to tear the other he confirmed it was true 50% of the time — then told us that if our boy tore the second one he would work with us on the price of the secondary surgery as they are expensive and offered to cut the price by nearly 45%. A year and a half later our boy is doing amazingly. Lastly, our third dog was behaving strangely, and we called Crest on a Friday afternoon. Dr. Lyle was in surgery but called us back AFTER their office had closed and told us to bring him in Saturday morning so he could squeeze him in between surgeries. Luckily it was only heartburn, but we didn’t have to worry all weekend or pay Blue Pearl a fortune to get him in before the end of the weekend. Additionally, every time that we had to go to Crest Animal, Dr. Lyle gave us his personal cell phone number and told us to call him anytime if we had questions OUTSIDE of office hours, which is both unheard of and an insane relief when you have a sick pet. All in all, and I am so sorry for the long review, there is no better place or people to bring your animals. They are kind, compassionate, cost a fraction of other places if you have an emergency situation, and will always tell you the best option for your pet’s long term health.

Experiencia fantástica: I have never met a more compassionate and caring group of people. From Kayla and all the girls at the front desk and back office to Dr Lyle himself, my babies are made to feel like family. In January 2023 I felt a large mass on my malamutes front for arm, I knew it was bad. When we took her in Dr Lyle was...devastated to say the least to tell us that it was in fact bone cancer. I was a mess but he took the time and consideration to be honest and caring. Gave facts and possibilities. We chose against amputation as he told us it would more painful for her and to have to learn to be a 3 legged dog at 11 would be for worse. We were given 6-12 weeks estimation to live. I know now he had to prepare us for the worst. He called and checked in personally in the evenings and even gave us his cell number. She is still here, on daily meds which they refill with no issue. They know my name and her name when I call and ask about her often. Recently, a month ago my 16 yo cat became very ill, wouldn't eat, drink, had drainage from his nose, ears and eyes. They got him in immediately as a drop off and I was told I could call as many times throughout the day to check on him. I called a couple times shortly after drop off and Dr Lyle actually called personally to inform me he was very worried about our old boy. It didn't look good. He kept him overnight and called me the next morning with an update, it wasn't good. They could try these things but Punky wasn't doing well. His body was giving out. I asked for him to be blunt and with compassion he told me it was time to let him go. At 3 pm that afternoon, with my 2 boys, Kayla escorted us back and Dr Lyle brought Punky into the room, wrapped in a blanket and it was clear to me in that second it was time. He was struggling to breathe. Dr Lyle had stayed until late in the night watching him on oxygen. Holding my cat in my arms he gently sent him to sleep. It was the most compassion I had ever felt from a veterinary office at this time. He gave me and my boys all the time we wanted. Kayla came in to just hold me and hug me and cry with me. They took him when we were ready and brought back his paw print on a card and a lock of his hair. In his cremation bag was also a paw print in clay. Only 1 week later my other cat was not doing well. They again got him in immediately. Again I was called by Dr Lyle directly with concerns. Yang had a horrible bladder infection and hadn't eaten in days. He had lost so much weight. They kept him for several nights and sent him home with special food and medication. Sweet Yang pulled through. And if it wasn't for the pure love of animals, compassion and care that Dr Lyle and his staff show EVERY SINGLE ANIMAL I don't know if I would still have both my malamute Nikita, and Yang. The way they treated Punky with so much gentle care and kindness...I can never express my gratitude. As they do every time I bring Nikita, my malamute, in for a check. I will never go anywhere else or recommend anywhere else. **Apologies for the long post!!! I just love them all so much!!!

The compassion they showed was genuine and the care they provided for my dog was outstanding. She has never been so calm and relaxed in a vets office before, so we will be making the switch from our current provider to Crest.

Experiencia positiva: Love this place, but since they lost their 2nd vet they just can't keep up and are booked out way too far in the future. Hopefully they will be back up to full staff soon Edit 6/14/24 - Have to find a new vet. Dr Lyle is a very good vet, but he's over-extended. Every time I call I'm on hold for anywhere from 2-20 minutes. The last 2 times I've been in, I haven't even got to lay eyes on the vet, let alone talk to him. Sad... this used to be the best place in town.

The second surgery had some complications and I felt that he and his staff went above and beyond to care for my dog and make sure he was okay, and communicate with me about it. We live nowhere near Crest but we love this veterinary practice so much the drive is worth it to see Dr.Lyle. Dr.Lyle may be one of the best vets in Kansas City. His expertise, and skill level are unmatched. He’s incredibly responsive when we need him, and has helped us through more tough situations with our dogs than I can count. In this day and age of corporate vets with ridiculous pricing, Crest remains a place where personal care is extended to all patients. I can’t say enough good things about Dr.Lyle and his practice. Experiencia fantástica: I went in fearful, due to having a prior experience with another vet putting my dog under anesthesia and having a seizure just minutes after receiving her. Mr. John Lyle DVM did an amazing job my dog had no seizure and in three days after getting my dog spayed she was back to her go lucky self. When I arrived the lady at the front desk was very welcoming and patient with me. I was able to leave my (Zues) with them because he had to be put to sleep so the doc could examine his eyes. I was sad and filled with emotions. The doc came out to speak with me and assured me that my Zeus was in good hands. 3 hrs later my baby was waiting for me ❤️ I was given antibiotics and eye drops to help my Zeus man feel better. Thank you, Crest Animal for getting my fur baby in so quickly and allowing me to keep a few dollars in my pocket.

Experiencia fantástica: Crest Animal Hospital - where to start on my review here? I'll spare the waterworks here but Dr. Lyle and his start are amazing. They saved my poor pup's life when my now-former vet basically told me "good luck" after we discovered what was ultimately severe tumor growths, effectively taking over one of his kidneys. I can not say enough about how much I appreciate the love, patience, and dedication paid to my buddy in the scariest hours of his life. The subsequent care, follow-ups, support and just wonderful nature of the entire staff after my event has me sold. They now see all of my animals and I couldn't be happier. furthermore, I TRUST them with my loved ones after I've been disappointed so many other times by others in the past. Crest Animal Hospital is the ONLY place I think of for my pets or would recommend for others'. Thank you. Dr. Lyle and everyone there!

My poor cat had a bacterial infection and needed to be fixed as part of the treatment. The treatment was done quickly and professionally and for much less than we were quoted elsewhere. I suspect this is because the building is older, and perhaps paid off. At any rate, I highly recommend this veterinarian and the staff at this place. Everyone was very professional but caring.

I am astounded by how he sewed our dog to herself as if she were cloth. We also love Allison the Vet tech. We are grateful for advice, patience, kindness and attention to detail of the entire staff. We have been clients for years.
