Experiencia negativa: I rushed my dog in for ingesting something poisonous, and they would not treat him until my mom (who was about ten minutes behind me) came in and could pay the $600 fee they were asking for. Every second counts in such a critical situation, and my dog ended up being put down that same night. Who knows what those extra minutes could have done for him. This place is all about profit.

We are truly sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. Losing a pet, especially during an emergency, is incredibly difficult and our hearts go out to you and your family.

In emergency situations, we require a deposit before beginning treatment so we can immediately proceed with diagnostics such as lab work, radiographs, catheter placement, and medications without delay. This policy allows our team to provide the necessary care and resources as quickly as possible once treatment begins.

We understand how emotional and overwhelming emergency situations can be, and we always strive to support both pets and their families during these difficult moments. If you would be open to speaking with our team directly, we would be glad to discuss your experience further.

Experiencia positiva: I've used this business many times over the years and they've always been good. This most recent trip I'm pleased to see their new improved reconstructed facilities have brought them to a more modern facility. That being said they are reasonable priced for what they gave me. I tried calling ahead to set an appointment but was never able to get a call back. That said I did a walk in and they were able to see me no problem and they were quite busy during that time so I understand the no phone call back. Overall I would recommend them I feel the level of professionalism and helpfulness of the staff are worth it and are better than other places I've tried to get services from.

Experiencia negativa: Had to pay nearly 300 dollars just to tell me my dog had to be put to sleep. I payed and had it done at home. My second dog, had a minor problem that she got over in a day at home, yet they wanted to do all this stuff that would have totaled 800 dollars. The vet looked in her ear and said she had a foxtail in it. I paid my 50 for the diagnosis and got the hell out of there. Later that day, using my friends Otoscope, we discovered that there was no foxtail at all in her ear! Avoid this place like the plague, while the workers may be nice, the overall practice is there to stick it to everyone financially, and dishonestly.

We’re sorry to hear that you felt frustrated with your experience. Veterinary care, especially when pets are sick or uncomfortable, can be stressful and emotional for pet owners.

Our goal is always to provide pets with the best medical care possible while being transparent about costs. Before any treatment or diagnostic services are performed, our team provides an estimate and discusses recommended options so pet owners can make informed decisions about their pet’s care.

In some cases, veterinarians may recommend diagnostics or procedures to rule out potential causes of a pet’s symptoms and ensure the most appropriate treatment plan. These recommendations are made with the pet’s health and safety in mind.

We truly care about the well-being of every patient we see and aim to support pet owners through each step of the process. If you would be willing to speak with us directly, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns further.

Experiencia fantástica: Very impressed with the cremation service here at Cedar Vet Hospital. I paid around $235 and received a beautiful wooden box that’s secured with screws so my dog’s ashes can be safely placed in forever. I also got ink prints of his paws and nose along with a little bag of his fur and a gold name plate with his name engraved. It’s just more than I could ever imagine. 4 years ago I had to take a cat to the emergency vet and had paid for cremation services there along with the expensive bill. It was about $1500 and all I received was a tin can with paw prints. I’m very thankful that whichever company that they use for this service really thinks about all the keepsakes that owners would like to have. Thank you again!

Sam, thank you so much for sharing this. We are truly sorry for your loss, and we’re honored you entrusted us with your dog’s aftercare. Providing meaningful, respectful memorial options is incredibly important to us, and we’re so glad the keepsakes brought you comfort during such a difficult time. Every pet deserves to be remembered with dignity, and every family deserves something tangible to hold onto. Thank you again for your kind words and for allowing us to be part of honoring your beloved companion.

Experiencia negativa: THEY SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS AFTER NOT TREATING MY KITTEN BECAUSE THEY WERE RUNNING SO LATE. If they spent as much time taking care of patients in office as they do managing their Google reviews it would be impressive. They sent me a $54 bill to collections after NOT treating my kitten and letting me sit in the waiting room for 2 hours after I had an appointment AND told them I was going to be late to work and lose my job because my incredibly simple vaccine appointment was running over 2 hours. The never vaccinated my cat and then sent me to collections for $54 because a Vet happened to walk into the room for 5 minutes and said “good cat” we can give you $700 worth of vaccines and flea treatments. Then sent me back to the lobby but NEVER ACTUALLY DID ANYTHING. I HAD TO LEAVE OR LOSE MY JOB AND THEY STILL BILLED ME AND SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS. This place sucks

We’re sorry to hear that your visit felt frustrating and stressful. We understand how difficult it can be when appointments run behind schedule, especially when you have other important commitments. During appointments, exam fees cover the doctor’s time, evaluation, and medical recommendations provided, regardless of whether additional services or treatments are completed. Our team strives to provide thorough and attentive care to every patient, and we regret that your experience did not reflect the level of service we aim to deliver. We value feedback from our clients and continually work to improve our scheduling, communication, and overall experience for both pets and their families.

Experiencia negativa: EDIT: I was happy to leave this at a bad review, but the office saw fit to bill my friend for nothing and immediately send it to collections, so here's the truth: We had an appointment time for a standard intake appointment for a new kitten. 30 minutes passed after the appointment time with us waiting with a dozen other overly patient people, a few more trickling in and no one leaving, so we asked at the desk and we were told to wait a moment. 15 minutes later, we are called in. All in all, about 45 minutes passed since our scheduled appointment time. We wait in the little room they bring us to for about 15 minutes. A vet tech comes in, takes an initial review of the cat, says everything looks good, and leaves. Another 15 minutes pass, okay, this is getting kinda crazy, but maybe they are just busy, you know? A vet walks in. A kindly older gentleman who did the exact same thing the vet tech did (I'm legitimately not kidding, just walked in and was like "nice cat" and left. About 5 minutes later the vet tech walks back in and tells us we can go back out to wait for the vaccines, and it's going to cost around 400 dollars total for the very very basic intake appointment. Let's review! We've spent: 2 hours of our lives + who knows how many potentially more waiting for a standard vaccination/healthy new kitten appointment, in which this vet practice, which has provided mediocre services at best and a frankly malignant amount of disregard to their patients time and money at worst. Let it be known we tried to have so much sympathy for the staff and the doctors. The appointment was for around 2 on a weekday, so not exactly what I'd normally expect to be poppin vet hours, but hey, who knows, I'm not in the veterinary business. We went up and asked the receptionist if the wait was always around 2 hours, and they shrugged and said "'basically". So, we have a kitten's intake appointment that the vet was an hour and 15 minutes late to only to come in for 5 minutes and pat the cat a few times and leave again, and they want to charge insane prices for this, so we are pretty much like, okay we obviously don't want these people as our vets. So we just take the cat and leave and inform the receptionist that we won't pay for 30 minutes of sitting in a room and weighing a cat. We luckily found a much better vet and thought we left all that in the past as a bad experience, but then Cedar Veterinary Hospital sent us a bill for 54 dollars with the information that it had been immediately sent to collections. Thus, we get to top all this off with a seemingly ill faithful gesture from the staff of Cedar Veterinary Hospital regarding our much less than stellar experience. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Please look elsewhere if you want your time to be respected. If you choose to proceed with this practice, expect over charging and insane wait times (WITH an appointment.)

Experiencia fantástica: Needed to get my dog into a vet before Monday because she seemed to be in pain. I did not want to go to an ER vet because of the high cost. A co-worker recommended Cedar Veterinary. All of the staff were very friendly & thorough. The Dr. was examining my dog within an hour after we arrived. I’m sure I got lucky with the timing, but I’m used to waiting hours as a walk-in at other clinics. Also the walk-in exam fee was much less than other clinics. They told me what they would recommend & the reasons why, but there was no pressure at all. The prices for x-rays & medication were on par with other clinics. Would definitely recommend them to others, especially if you need your pet seen over the weekend.

Experiencia positiva: They tell one thing on costs then your bill can be triple they called an said you can pick up your pet 5.00PM and when we got there just after 5.00 PM we didn't get our pet till 7.00PM two hour wait that seem to be very unorganized and then the price was triple. From what they said I am doing a charge back on my credit card from the bank they didn't even give a break down on the services they did

Experiencia negativa: We made an appointment and they took one hour to see us. The front staff was kind but the back nurse and Veterinarian were rude. They saw my cat for approximately 1 minute. The nurse was being very short and I left with many unanswered questions due to feeling pressured to leave. We will not be returning and I advise other to go to Abby’s Veterinary.

Experiencia fantástica: They are wonderful! They took such good care of my dog when he was bit by a rattlesnake. And stitched him back together after his face fell off and truly brought him back to life.

Experiencia fantástica: I have brought my dogs to this vet over the years for many urgent care situations and on Sunday once again had to take my dog in for an "emergency situation". The staff has always been kind and efficient. For a vet place where they not only have scheduled appts but still accommodate emergencies the wait time is never very long and I feel that they always take good care of dog, who hates the vet and is not always very nice. I also feel like they are reasonably priced, on Sunday I was expected to buy a lot more for was wrong with my dog and was pleasantly surprised when it was less than I thought.

Experiencia negativa: ***update: Never received the X-Ray photos I requested for but I did receive the report. I wanted add that they stated in the report that they tried to remedy the situation but didn't do anything to remedy the issue and wanted to charge for a follow up after 10 days of not responding from the of the initial visit which they said they would reach out. I had to reach out. They finally responded after 10 days of the visit and 7 days after I posted this review. Still waiting on the X-Ray photos I requested *** I have yet to get a text/call from any of the vets doctors there on the results of my dogs x- rays and any recommended cautions to prevent my dog from further hurting himself other than the medication given to me for my dog for treatment. Charged $730.50 for the whole bill but was refunded $252 for the X-RAY STAT service that was never provided which the results were supposed to be given that day or the next morning. It was never interpreted to me by the vet doctor on what the radiologist concluded in his findings. So now I pretty much paid $478.50 for 2 medications because I've yet to receive a call/text which was explained to me by a vet tech/staff member that a vet doctor would read and explain my dog's X-Ray photos regardless if I had opted in for or not for the X-Ray STAT service before I had paid and signed for the other X-Ray services. Seems like scam once they get your money.

Experiencia fantástica: My family and I have been bringing our pets to Cedar for the last 6+ years and have always had great experiences with all staff . The most recent case, today, my brothers cat had a huge gash on his thigh and although he didn’t have an appointment , they were still able to take him in. Berenice and Nicky assisted us today and made the entire experience smooth given the overwhelming circumstances. I’ve read the negative reviews on here and boy, some people really lack understanding and are quick to leave negative reviews before educating themselves. Trust me when I say Cedar has been the best Vet I have visited for my fur babies and the most inexpensive. My furr babies and I really appreciate what you guys have done for us

Experiencia negativa: I brought my puppy in because he was showing very early signs of parvo and they told me if I didn’t leave him there he was going to die basically. After deciding to bring him home I was told to bring him back in for a checkup 2 days later. We waited over an hour to be seen even tho we showed up early to our appointment. After finally getting in a room and waiting an additional 15 minutes the dr comes in and gives me nothing. No update on how he is doing. They just ask if we need a refill on medication and then leaves. They were in the room for a total of 30 seconds (I timed it). I was then forced to pay for the checkup and the staff decided to mock me saying that it should have been a phone call. The dr also chose to mock me after I got no information and when I tried to ask about how he will be. The dr replied with “if he made it this far, I guess he’ll be ok”. Worst professionalism I’ve ever encountered and zero compassion for me or any other visitors.

Cedar Veterinary Hospital
Cedar Veterinary Hospital

Kelly, thank you for sharing your concerns. We're sorry your experience didn't meet expectations, especially during such a stressful time with your puppy's parvo diagnosis.

When discussing treatment options, we provide honest information on survival rates so owners can make informed decisions. At-home parvo treatment has a survival rate of approximately 50% or less, while hospitalization offers better outcomes.

We sincerely apologize if our communication during your follow-up visit felt dismissive. The comment about your puppy's progress was intended to convey positive news that he was responding well to the at-home treatment, not to minimize your concerns.

We'd welcome the opportunity to discuss this further if you're open to it. We genuinely hope your puppy continues to recover well.

Experiencia negativa: My dog was sent from another vet, she wasn’t eating much for weeks and didn’t eat anything at all for 3 days at this point. i paid over 1000 for testing and they couldn’t find anything, they offered more testing which obviously would be more money, they gave her nausea med (she wasn’t vomiting), they gave her fluids (she was drinking water fine) and an antibiotic. I walked in with blood tests results from another vet, i brought those same blood results to a vet hospital in Tijuana and within 15 my dog had a diagnosis and a treatment, she ate that same day. The vet in Tijuana had the same information as this vet and he instantly knew just by looking at it. I’m so disappointed, more worried about the money than actually healing her.

Cedar Veterinary Hospital
Cedar Veterinary Hospital

Claudia, we’re sorry to hear you felt disappointed with your experience. We’re thrilled your dog is doing better and that a diagnosis led to effective treatment.

During the exam, nausea medication was recommended after you shared concerns about nausea, and subcutaneous fluids were suggested because your dog had not been eating for several days. These recommendations were made to support her comfort and hydration at that time.

Based on lab work from your previous veterinarian, we continued diagnostics and prescribed medications to address nausea and infection. Your dog had been receiving these treatments for several days prior to your visit to Tijuana, which may have contributed to her improved appetite and condition by then.

We understand how stressful it can be when answers are not immediate. Our goal is always to provide thoughtful and thorough care, guiding pets toward a diagnosis as efficiently as possible while prioritizing their well-being.

If you’d like to discuss your visit further, we welcome you to reach out to us directly.

Experiencia negativa: This was a while ago (last year), but forgot to post. My cat broke her leg, took her to be seen here, and vet said she needed to get her leg amputated. She had mentioned that she’s been doing this for 8 years, and they knew what they’re doing. Checked with another vet, for another opinion, this vet saved my cat’s leg. Vet said it was repairable and charged me a reasonable fee in comparison to CEDAR. CEDAR was charging me close to $4k to amputate and I paid close $1500 at the other vet! This vet doesn’t care, just wants to take your money. DO NOT COME HERE, YOU WILL WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. If you ever come here and they happen to tell you your pet needs to get an amputation or something needs to happen because there’s no other option, please take them somewhere else for a second opinion.

Cedar Veterinary Hospital
Cedar Veterinary Hospital

Hi Leslie,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly sorry to hear that you felt disappointed during your visit, as our goal is always to provide honest medical guidance and compassionate care.

After reviewing the medical record from your appointment, your cat’s injury was already three weeks old at the time of the exam. Because of the severity and the amount of time that had passed without treatment, the doctor discussed amputation as one of the options and provided an estimate of $1,900–$2,300. You chose not to move forward at that time, which we completely respect.

We’re very glad to hear your cat is doing well now. Every case is unique, and we always support a client’s decision to seek a second opinion whenever they feel it’s needed. If you’d like us to resend your pet’s full medical record and estimate for clarity, we’re more than happy to provide them.

Wishing you and your cat all the best moving forward.

Experiencia negativa: Been going there for many years. Family went there 50+ years. Never again. Made an appointment for a follow visit, arrived and checked in early, and sat in the lobby waiting to be called for an hour after appointment time without being called. Not a word from staff in that hour. Cancelled appointment and I will find a new vet. To top off their lack of professionalism, they sent a text that they were ready to see my pet almost an hour after I cancelled and left.

Hello, your pet was scheduled for a technician appointment for vaccine boosters. When our team becomes busy with urgent or critical cases, those patients must be prioritized, which can cause delays for non-emergency visits. The delay should have been communicated to our reception team so they could keep you informed, and that was our error. We have reached out to discuss this with you and are awaiting your reply.

Experiencia negativa: Took my dog here for a “lipoma” that came right back even bigger less than a year later. Vet barely explained anything and just pushed surgery again. New vet says it might have been misdiagnosed the entire time and something more serious, which now has had time to progress. Huge waste of time and money. Horrible. $$$ hungry.

Cedar Veterinary Hospital
Cedar Veterinary Hospital

We’re sorry to hear about your concerns. To clarify, your pet’s lipoma (a non-cancerous fatty growth) was first diagnosed in November 2023 after a cytology test. At that time, surgical removal was discussed as optional, not required. At your request, the lipoma was surgically removed in May 2024. We sent the tumor into the lab for a histopathology and it was confirmed to be a lipoma by a pathologist. While recurrence after removal is uncommon, it can happen in some cases. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you’d like to discuss your pet’s care or next steps—we’re always here to help.

Experiencia negativa: We took our cat because he was limping on his right foot and had a breakout on his chin that was bleeding. Dr Nick never came back into the room to tell us what was wrong with him. The assistant came back with $1400 charges. 1400....... We said we weren't sure why or what was happening, and that we couldn't afford it. So they sent us home with 3 medicines instead.. This place just wants to steal your money. All of the bad reviews are true in that aspect. Googled the 1400 receipt - anesthesia (why would they put my cat under?), medicine to bring back from the anesthesia.. MULTIPLE pain medicines and sedatives. Nail clippings that I do myself. And a splint. The splint was the only solution on the $1400 receipt so I made one at home. Furthermore, the 3 medications they provided us- 2 of them were pain killers for POST SURGICAL PROCEDURES. Why did they prescribe this to my cat for 8 DAYS? When he never had any surgery and they never said what was wrong with him. If he just needs a splint, why did they put him on heavy meds for 8 DAYS? His behavior was so recluse, and he wouldn't eat, so we Googled what they were and stopped those pain meds after 48 hours. The 3rd medication was the only thing necessary out of all $1400. That took away the bumps on his chin acne. His leg was normal after 2 days, split not even necessary. The doctor should have explained every single item they felt was necessary. They should also have explained what we took home. They did none of this. I shouldn't have to Google your items in order to protect my pet and my wallet?!!!!!!! Shame on you guys. If you have to come here (they specialize in some aspects) Google your receipt before you pay!! Don't let themedicate your child for no reason!! The front desk was very nice.

Hi Bri,

We’d like to clarify a few points from your visit. We did not recommend anesthesia for your cat — we recommended sedation. Sedation is something we always offer for radiographs to ensure patient comfort, especially when a pet is injured. Administering a reversal once the procedure is complete is standard of care.

Dr. Nic was unable to make a diagnosis without diagnostic testing, which is why our technician presented an estimate for the diagnostics and treatments we could provide. These were optional and were declined.

Multiple pain medications were not prescribed. Sedation involves a safe combination of medications that work together, and for your cat, buprenorphine (a pain reliever) and meloxicam (an anti-inflammatory) were recommended. These are commonly used not only for post-surgical cases but also for soft tissue injuries, and buprenorphine is safe to use beyond three days if needed.

We understand that medical decisions can feel overwhelming. If there were any concerns about the medications or recommendations, reaching out to our hospital directly would have provided more accurate clarification than online searches.

We appreciate your feedback and are always happy to explain treatment plans and answer any questions. Our goal is to provide the safest, most effective care for every patient while keeping families informed every step of the way.

Experiencia negativa: The vet that was seeing my Daughters Great Dane , Dr Nick seemed less then caring and was extremely hard handed ruff and very unprofessional. My daughters dog is very ill and he seems to either be afraid of large dogs or just doesn’t like them, he grabbed her by her collar and slung her over to the wall after this he pulled her by her tail for reasons unknown and then pulled hard on her ear for no reason again~ she wasn’t moving around or being difficult. He is not a vet I would recommend for any animal not even a rodent . She is very ill and will be going to a professional veterinarian , not a person like this man , he needs a new job obviously he’s not happy being a Vet !!!

Experiencia negativa: I have used Cedar Vet for 20 year and today will be my last visit. I was ignored and my pet sat on the floor for an hour and a half. One attendant came in to take some notes, left and no one ever returned. When I went to check with the entry secretary after over an hour wait, she was gone. So I lifted up my pup and walked to my car where my husband had been waiting all this time and left. Cedar Veterinary Hospital will not be of use to me, again.

Experiencia negativa: This place deserves zero stars for how disrespectfully I was treated. I showed up at 8:00 AM for a confirmed 8:10 spay appointment for my cat. The doors were locked, and staff showed up late. When we finally walked in, the front desk girl immediately snapped, "You're crowding," in the most condescending tone -- as if we were doing something wrong just for waiting outside their office to open. No greeting. No professionalism. I told her we had a spay appointment, and she rudely cut me off with, "We don't spay on weekends," even though I had text confirmation from their own number giving pre-op instructions. She didn't bother to listen or help -- just rolled her eyes and acted like I was bothering her. They had asked me for all my cat's info via text, but none of it was in the system. After all that, when I declined to reschedule for months later, I walked away and forgot my ID. She sarcastically said, "Do you not want your ID?" Her attitude was beyond rude -- cold, sarcastic, and unhelpful. She made it clear she didn't care about helping or even being polite. I've never been treated with so much disrespect at a vet office. If this is how they treat people at the front desk, I don't want to know how they treat the animals.

Experiencia negativa: Went in as a walkin for my dog's ear infection. I understand there's going to be a higher wait time. The wait in the lobby wasn't that bad. 2 hours. However, the reason for only 2 stars is because I put a muzzle on my dog (something she has NEVER worn before but out of precaution since she's already hurting and the doctor would have needed to look inside her ear). I got placed in the room around 6:20pm and given the muzzle around 6:25. 7:15 rolls around and I take the muzzle off because my dog is crying. Poke my head out. I'm #2 in the que. 7:30pm and no update, so i poke my head out again to make sure im still going to be seen. Got told yes. 8:00pm comes around and I finally walk out. Appointments might get seen at a decent time, but definitely not a walkin person. If you have 5 or more hours to wait, come here. If not, find somewhere else.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry for the long wait and that your dog was uncomfortable during that time. While walk-ins can experience delays, we should’ve updated you sooner and advised you to remove the muzzle once we knew the vet would be delayed. We appreciate your patience and will use this to improve our communication moving forward.

Experiencia negativa: Took dog in for labor issues and they did not ask to assist with labor but run bloodwork and x ray. While this may be necessary the urgency of labor would take precedence. They then DID NOT conduct an ultrasound but gave me an option for c section with additional costs in excess of 3,000.00 with no plant or assistance. Also advised additional whelping for deceased pups born to revive them for 180.00. When I declined they suggested euthanasia for only 1,780.00. They gave me no assistance with care or payment and gave me my dog in a paper blanket with half a pup hanging out. I would not advise to come here

Cedar Veterinary Hospital
Cedar Veterinary Hospital

We’re truly sorry this experience was distressing. When the patient arrived, she had been in labor for 24 hours and was in critical condition with dystocia—a life-threatening emergency where natural delivery was no longer possible.

Radiographs confirmed two large, deceased puppies were stuck. An ultrasound was not necessary. Bloodwork was done to assess the mother’s condition and guide emergency care. A c-section was urgently recommended to save her life, with whelping services offered if any puppies were viable.

Due to cost, the client declined surgery and chose to take the pet home. Euthanasia was also offered to prevent further suffering but was declined. The patient was returned wrapped for cleanliness and comfort. While finances are the owner’s responsibility, we encouraged seeking help from other clinics that might better fit their budget. Our recommendations were based solely on the urgency and severity of the patient’s condition.

Experiencia negativa: Came in for a walk-in, and they didn't even let me know the wait would be 3 hours. Poorly run Reply: I just checked my Google timeline, and I got there at 10:36 and left at 12:03. Before it was almost 12, I went up to ask if they had an estimate, and the receptionist communicated on the walkie with the back staff, and they said another hour. So I decided to leave and go somewhere better. If the wait was approaching that long, why not let me know or ask if I would want to schedule an appointment from the beginning? It's a shame that this place is run so poorly and rude in person and online. Check this places more recent reviews, take your pet somewhere else

We appreciate your feedback and will continue working to improve the experience for all of our clients.

Experiencia negativa: Do Not Take Your Pet to Cedar Pet Hospital, Especially Not to Nicolaas Reijne Cedar Pet Hospital only cares about money — not your pet, not answers, and definitely not doing what’s right. Dr. Nicolaas Reijne (I won’t even call him a “doctor” because he doesn’t act like one) completely failed our cat and our family. Our cat had an abscess on his gumline and a frequent cough. Instead of figuring out what was going on, Reijne fixated on a $1,500+ tooth extraction — insisting the tooth was the issue. He ran $500+ in bloodwork and claimed “nothing was wrong,” which turned out to be completely false. He didn’t tell us what the abscess might mean or explain the deeper causes — just pushed the surgery like a salesman. We took our cat to the HOPE Foundation for a second opinion, and the vet there immediately noticed something was off in the kidney area. We told Cedar we’d be doing the dental procedure at HOPE instead, and you could tell Reijne didn’t like that. After that, he gave up on our cat. He sent us home with steroids for the cough — and the nurse marked the dosage wrong on the syringe. The dosage on the box didn’t match what was marked, and by the time we realized it, we had already given our cat too much. That error wasn’t ours — it was theirs. When we returned and told them, they brushed it off with a “sorry” and no accountability. No refund. Just more meds and “monitor your cat.” His condition worsened overnight — he could barely walk, couldn’t go to the bathroom, and his kidneys were visibly enlarged. We requested a different vet, who took one look and said the kidneys were in bad shape. More testing revealed that kidney cancer had already taken over. We had no choice but to put our cat down. Dr. Reijne never cared to look deeper or offer real answers. He just wanted the money for the tooth. He never tried to find out what was actually wrong. His negligence — and the clinic’s — cost our cat his life. This place may look convenient because they’re open daily and just remodeled, but don’t let that fool you. Cedar Pet Hospital is a money grab, plain and simple. Reijne should have his license revoked. I wouldn’t trust this place with any animal. Ever.

Experiencia negativa: Bad attitude from the lady at the desk. Was charged over $20 more than the price i signed and agreed to. Also, be prepared even with an appointment, to wait almost two hours sitting on hard and uncomfortable benches. No water unless you brought your own bottle to refill. I would probably still be there waiting if I didn't just tell them to call me with the results. This place has really gone down in quality over the years, I think it might be time to look elsewhere.

Experiencia negativa: If you love your pet don’t bring them here. This place literally is a money collecting system. Their last priority is the health of your pet. They focus on how much they can rack up on you keep you there all day waiting 80% of the time…do the most important tests LAST right before closing time and the txt you at the end of the day after they charge you over $900 that your pet has a bleeding tumor and to go to er if they get worse. (Which she did and had to be put down that night). This vet clinic is horrible.

Cedar Veterinary Hospital
Cedar Veterinary Hospital

Hi Joe,

We’re truly sorry for your loss. It’s always heartbreaking to lose a beloved pet, and we understand how emotional these moments can be. That said, we do want to clarify a few important facts for others who may read your review.

Your pet was brought in as a walk-in with no appointment, after being sick for over two weeks. Despite a full schedule, our team examined her, performed diagnostics, and delivered a diagnosis within seven hours — all in the same day.

The care provided included only the bare minimum diagnostics needed to identify what was going on: a physical exam, labwork, and radiographs. These are standard tools, and all diagnostics were discussed with you and approved before proceeding. Without these, we would not have been able to determine that your pet had a bleeding tumor or advise you to seek emergency care.

We always strive to prioritize both the medical needs of our patients and transparent communication with their families. We're sorry this experience left you feeling otherwise and hope you find comfort in knowing you sought help for her, even in the late stages of her illness.

Experiencia negativa: I’ve never written a review, but for the sake of this happening to anyone else’s pet I felt it’s important to bring awareness. You are your pets voice and you will have to advocate for your pet for the bare minimum here. I entered as a walk in with concerns regarding my pet, specifically his ears. My primary vet was closed so I came here. The vet technician was scrolling on his phone with his left hand and had the thermometer in my pet with his right. I immediately asked for a replacement. My pets ears were NOT checked. When a technician came in with the Doctors plan, SEDATION was recommended to check the ears. I advocated that they can check the ears WITHOUT SEDATION. His ears were checked as I recommended. The Doctor said he could not see his ear canal in one ear and assumed a foxtail was in his ear and for it to be surgically removed. Total estimated cost: $917.46. I’m grateful for the discernment and leaving without following any of the Vets recommendations to get a second and third opinion. Two Vets confirmed after, both ear canals were visible, provided with a treatment plan, and no foxtail was found in either ear. NO SEDATION WAS REQUIRED AT ALL.

Experiencia negativa: The staff is friendly, but I would say they overcharge like crazy for doing the bare minimum. I paid over $600 for 1 visit where all they did was blood draw and a quick look over at my dog. The another hospital I went to recently charged me half the price AND was more thorough with the examination of my dog. They used more devices than this place did, while giving such detail that was not given to me at this place.

Experiencia fantástica: I absolutely love this veterinary clinic! I’ve been bringing my Goldendoodle here since he was a puppy, and now at 2 years old, he’s still receiving the best care. The entire team is incredibly thorough and compassionate. When my dog was showing unusual symptoms, they took the time to run the right tests and ultimately diagnosed him with an autoimmune disease. I’m so grateful for their diligence and expertise during that stressful time. He’s been seen by all the doctors at some point, and each one has been knowledgeable, gentle, and genuinely caring. He’s also had multiple procedures done here, including his neuter, a foxtail removal, and a biopsy, and each one went smoothly with excellent post-care support. I truly trust them with my pup’s health and can’t recommend them enough. You can tell they care just as much as you do.

Experiencia negativa: I came in with my dog that had an injured paw. I was in the area because I was on my way to Yosemite. We came as a walk in. The person that checked me in said it would be an hour. We waited for 2.5 hours before they called us in. This was 5 minutes after I asked them how much longer, which they told me another 1-2 hours. Which at that point I told them I’m going to call around to other hospitals. Then miraculously they could fit us in. After seeing the doctor, they indicated she needed X-rays and that SHE had to be sedated. I insisted trying without sedating her but they said no. They said it was be 2 more hours for her to be sedated, x rays taken, and then for her to wake up. We agreed to upfront invoice of $650 (originally quoted $1,100 but I said no to some “optional” items). So they take her and then 2.5 hours later we are waiting to get an update. I asked 4 different technicians for an update, they finally came out and told they hadn’t even sedated her yet bc they were waiting for other procedures to be done and it would be another hour before they could sedate her. WTH..don’t give me an estimated time if it’s not even going to be remotely close to it. Complete waste of time and ruined my vacation. Extremely disappointed. They just want your money and don’t care about you or your pet.

Experiencia negativa: One of the receptionists here hates her life and her job and takes it out on customers. She acted personally offended that we needed to use the restroom while we waited for many hours. She was incredibly insensitive and couldn’t put her attitude in check even though she knew we were there to put an animal down. Every interaction was handled with extreme attitude even though we were nothing but kind to her. I sat and watched her treat every customer after us like they were a huge annoyance. I understand it’s a stressful job, but other staff were professional and kind. She needs to consider a new career path if she hates the customers that are the very reason she has a job, and this place would do well to fire her. I didn’t get a name but I’m sure they know who I am talking about.

Experiencia negativa: Do not take your pet to this location! The inconsistency with the staff and doctors has been a complete nightmare. You can’t speak to anyone over the phone and you have to use their texting method. I have taken my dog in for diabetes treatment where I have spent over $2,000 and the visits were every 2 weeks costing around $200 each visit. Then, they finally advised that I can perform blood sugar testing at home. This would have saved money!!! BTW my dog’s insulin intake hasn’t been confirmed. I also have stressed on every visit that she has been dealing with eye irritation where my dog's eyes are red shot and have really bad eye discharge. Antibiotics have a temporary fix. The doctor advised that antibiotics can be prescribed as long as we spread out the intake. I have recently requested more antibiotics since the end of last year and the doctor refuses the prescription as they’re demanding a new visit. Again, they haven’t done anything to help her diabetes or cared to address the eye irritation since previous multiple visits! So what examine will they perform this time other than take more money from me! Take your pet elsewhere!

Experiencia negativa: I decided to use Cedar veterinarian hospital for my dog. That is pregnant. Heard decent things about them took her in for an X-ray. To find out how many puppies she had, they told me. The X-ray was gonna be a $149. It ended up being $275 plus The fee for the doctor to see her, which I never was told needed to be. They gave us a due date of today and told us if we needed anything to call them and they would help us out. My dog went into labor and had 7 of the puppies. They told me there was 8 puppies on the X Ray and to call, if she goes more than 2 hours, not delivering a puppy. I called at the 2 hour mark and continued to call for 2 hours and could not get through to them. I texted and emailed them with no response. I ended up having to take my dog to another vet to have emergency c-section and we lost the last puppy because it was too long in the birth canal. I think this is very unprofessional, and they should be answering their phones. Especially when they told me to call in an emergency, I used all resources from texting, emailing and calling so now it just cost me $3000 and my dog in surgery, because they cannot answer their phones. Will never go back to them.

We’re sorry to hear about your puppy's loss and the difficult experience you and your pet went through. Our hearts go out to you and your family during this time. When you first called, our team did speak with you and confirmed your dog was having a smooth delivery. We also scheduled a follow-up appointment. A few hours later, your daughter texted with questions, and we responded within minutes and followed up with a phone call shortly after. Our phone message explains that texting or emailing is recommended due to high call volume and that you may walk in anytime if your pet is distressed. We also shared this guidance with you in person five days prior. Unfortunately, none of those emergency options were used. We truly care about your pets and welcome speaking with you directly if you’d like to discuss anything further.

Experiencia negativa: I had an appointment at 2:30. Saw the doctor at 5:00. They had five emergencies yet just spent five minutes to see my dog to see what’s wrong and that’s the frustrating part. They also could’ve made us aware of appointment wait times and did not apologize for the push back. So 2.5 hours of waiting to tell me in 5 minutes what was going on with my dog. I also overheard workers having conversations behind the door when waiting for the doctor. It was not the most professional. Spent another 30 minutes waiting back in the lobby for them to get a table ready. After 3 hours I decided to leave. Paid the $54 for the doctor’s time when our time was not at all considered. I do have to note that all the workers are nice. It is just how things unfolded. Today’s circumstance was just unfortunate for me. Sometimes we have bad days you know.

Experiencia positiva: We waiting 1 hour in the lobby, 1 hr in the room and 3 hours for exams, blood test, ultrasounds, results and check out. We did go in as a walk in. However, they do have a friendly staff, pricing was OK for all the stuff they had to do with our pregnant Golden retriever. They did a follow up check and even sent pictures of the ultrasounds for our memories. Plan to be there for quite some time if going as a walk in. Will be going back with an appointment when our puppies are of age for vaccinations.

Hi Vanessa, thank you for your feedback. We understand that wait times can be frustrating. Please note that this was a walk-in visit rather than a scheduled appointment. During your time with us, our team completed a full exam, ran diagnostics, interpreted results, and prepared prescriptions to ensure your pet received comprehensive care. If you have any further concerns, feel free to email us at [email protected].

Experiencia negativa: I do not like this place . it seems every time I come here they overcharge for every single thing that they can , my baby boy was struggling to breathe and we practically had to wait 5 hours just to be seen, I feel my one star is justified only because the people were really nice but there practice and money hungry place sucks.i made a Facebook post posting my baby for help and about 50% of the comments were telling me to never go here because of how money hungry they are … I payed practically 300$ for an X-ray just for them to want me to pay another 300$ for them to even send it out for someone to look at the X-ray like WHAT? they are trippin , luckily I made a Facebook post and someone recommended me to palm bluff veterinarian and they helped me figure out what the problem was , gave my baby actual medicine that he needed ,and had us out in litterally 30 minutes they even cared so much they have been checking in on us daily to see how he’s doing, so if your reading this please go to palm bluffs veterinarian and not here , palm bluff treats your animals like family and actually care they also work with you depending on your situation, cedar just took all my money and sent my baby away with fluids and still didint figure out the problem was .In 6 hours.thankfully my baby is doing so much better today , he would have died if I didint go to a different vet

Sage, we’re sorry you had a stressful experience and appreciate you trusting us with your pet’s care. As a walk-in, we did our best to get you seen as quickly as possible and were able to have the doctor examine your pet within three hours. We understand financial concerns can be challenging, and we worked with you to provide care within your budget, including three hours of oxygen therapy at no charge. While we always recommend diagnostics to guide treatment, we respect your decisions and truly wanted to help in any way we could. If you have any further concerns, we’d be happy to discuss them. We hope your pet is doing well.

Experiencia fantástica: I woke up on a Sundat morning and realized that my 17yr old cat had suddenly deteriorated so sad that it was her last day. I found Cedar Vet Hosputal and was able to text instead of call, and got responses very quickly. Their prices were very reasonable and were able to get me in that evening. Once we were there, everything went as quick and smooth as we wanted/needed. Our tech was extremely compassionate and caring. Euthanasia is not cheap, but the peace of mind knowing i was there when my baby took her last breath was worth every penny.

Experiencia negativa: I took my dog to see her a Doc. because she got a ball we went with an appointment and my appointment was at 10:30 am I arrived before 10:10 am, it was 11:00am and still I was not attended people came after me and they attended them before me, until I talked to the receptionist what was happening, I just answered "We are preparing a room go and sit down," they left us in a room until 12:00 pm which never attended us and I better left for the waiting time. Although I had an appointment, they did not respect my appointment and also never attended us. Very bad service and lousy not respecting the time of the appointment.

Experiencia negativa: I'm 70 yrs old, probably had 10 dogs. Worst vet ever been to. 1:30 appt, ushered to back room at 1:45 and sat there till 3:30. Wanted sedative for New Years eve due to excessive fear of noise. Vet came in and I said "wow, been waiting long time". She responded "do u want me to leave"? No I said. She asked questions about dog etc. I asked her best way to get dog to lose weight. She said feed her less. Thought maybe switch food to senior or... Also wanted them to cut nails but hey couldn't because dog pulled leg back. Said give her pills and then bring her back while under sedative. Rude, abrasive and no desire to help.

Experiencia positiva: Fast, vet techs are great noligable politebut the veterinarian came in. Was there no longer than 2 minutes and 30 minutes later, I was being told of a fee that was crazy price over $3,000, saying the veterinarian just want to treat your pet as what I thought. What um blood work would determine his diagnosis not just a 3 minute not even look at my dog with the vet doctor. I will not be returning, and I have found an amazing vet.

I took her to Cedar's vet, who accessed her and started treatment right away. Only one doctor, but both he and the staff, were caring and efficient. They even refunded part of the deposit. They have a hospital as well as regular veterinary services. I'm changing vets

Experiencia negativa: My dog was diagnosed with renal failure. I had him treated for 3 days there at the clinic and then administered care from home for an additional 5 days. I returned for a follow up check up and was told my dog was better and did not need any more treatments or medication. (I was surprised and relieved). 5 days later he got sick again. I called to schedule another visit. I had an appointment but still had to wait 2 hours, we were finally taken into a room and the tech was giving me end of life options. I was confused. I was told to wait for the dr. After waiting another 30 min. I walked out and went to another vet clinic. I was advised my dogs condition was chronic and treatment should have been on going, there was no reversing his condition and that it was only going to worsen. Ongoing treatment would help alleviate pain and slow down the progression of his illness. I am so glad I followed my intuition and was able to find another clinic that actually explained the condition in much better detail, along with care options instead of just having a tech come in a present an outrageous quote for a services that was a temporary fix. It is sad having to see my dog in pain, I feel even worse that I brought him here thinking he would get the care he needed.

Thank you for your feedback. We understand that waiting can be frustrating, especially when your pet is not feeling well. However, it's important to note that you checked in as an unscheduled walk-in at 1:15 PM, and our team was able to see you around 3 PM. We did our best to accommodate your needs, including waiting on radiographs, as we were unable to access the ones from the ER due to their policy of not releasing them without payment. We also want to emphasize that your pet was in your care throughout the visit, and the decision to keep or remove the muzzle was entirely up to you. We're sorry you decided to leave before the radiographs could be performed, as we were working diligently to provide the best care possible. We appreciate your understanding and are happy to discuss any further concerns directly.

Experiencia positiva: The staff is friendly and caring. The only issue I had was their time management and delivery of that time. I had to bring one of my dogs in for something out of our control and our regular Veterinarian was unavailable. Cedar Veterinarian Hospital was recommended by them. I called immediately and was told it may be 1-2 hours wait time. That was fine considering the circumstance. We arrived shortly after that call and the front desk said 3-4 hours wait time. I mentioned I just called and was told differently and they said they are not sure who said that and it must have been someone in the back. Either way, we had to do it. To my surprise, they called us into a room within 30-minutes. We waited maybe 15-20 minutes and several different techs and a doctor attended to our dog. The process was about 45-minutes. They then said it would be about another hour for a procedure. That turned closer to 2-hours. So our visit was close to 4-hours. But for being last minute, I am grateful they took us in and and our pup is on the mend. Also, the cost was a bit expensive, but I paid a deposit and they ultimately gave me a credit for some services not rendered.

Experiencia negativa: I had always taken my Rico here since he was a puppy, but this last time I took him. I had a very bad experience. They had told me, my Rico didn’t have no hope, that I had to put him down due to his mass being huge in his stomach, they were all cold hearted, didn’t even have compassion to give me more options. They mentioned giving him surgery but that he wasn’t going to make it neither. Luckily I didn’t tell their answer to consideration, took him for a second and third opinion and good thing I did. He had surgery at another vet and now he’s back to being healthy and happy. Wouldn’t take my pet to this place. Throughout the years, they got new staff and very rude. Not friendly at all!

Cedar Veterinary Hospital
Cedar Veterinary Hospital

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are deeply sorry that you felt this way about your experience with us and that our communication didn’t meet your expectations. We truly care about all of our patients, including Rico, and during his visit. To clarify, our doctor spent significant time discussing the severity of Rico’s condition and presented all possible options, including additional diagnostics, exploratory surgery, comfort care, and humane euthanasia. In fact, we had recommended further diagnostics six months prior when we first suspected a mass. Ultimately, the decision was made to pursue comfort care at that time. We respect that you sought other opinions, and we are happy to hear that Rico is doing well now.

We are sorry to hear that our staff did not meet your expectations in friendliness, as we are continuously working to improve our service. We wish Rico continued health and happiness.

Experiencia negativa: I took my cat here bc she is anemic and not eating for days, we ran diagnostic testing and blood work and x-rays which led to no diagnosis. I dropped her off for these tests bc I had to go to work and was told it would only take two hours and I would receive a call when she was ready for pick up, I received no call and assumed they were busy so I called them and was told they were waiting for the doctor to review the lab results and I would receive a call. I waited four more hours and nothing so I called and was told they were still waiting for the doctor but I could pick her up after her being there for 8 hours total. Once I picked her up I noticed a bandage was still on her leg and no one mentioned anything to me. Those bandages are not supposed to be on for longer than 15 mins. Once I took it off I noticed her paw was significantly swollen. Not only did they neglect her for 8 hours they left two tightly double wrapped bandages on my cats paw which caused it to get swollen. She was sitting in her urine while her paw was getting the circulation cut off. Very unprofessional and forgetful of them to forget a bandage to cause harm to my cat and to not communicate or update me about my pet.

Experiencia negativa: For my experience this clinic does not have any urgency at all. My dog was bite by another dog and had 3 puncture wounds. We waited in waiting room for an hour and finally made it to the back and the rooms were freezing my dog was shivering and in pain. The technician surprised me to show no compassion for our dog and wasn’t friendly with us either. We waited in that room for another hour until I opened the door to try to warm up that’s when another technician asked if we’re waiting for ours and got her for us. She informed us that the 2 vets that were there would not be able to see us for another hour due to a surgery and a lunch. We asked if she can examine his wounds to at least offer some advice and she shrugged her shoulders and smiled for the first time and said I’m not a doctor so I wouldn’t be able to help. We mentioned we’ve been waiting for almost three hours and she recommended either waiting or scheduling another appointment and left after those words. We left with our boy still with three punctures that were still bleeding because they showed no care and no passion for their line of work.

Experiencia negativa: It took me a while to post this because I'm still at a loss. But I do not know one to have to go through this, with that being said in the beginning of the year I took my beloved son (shih Tzu) here in trust thinking I made.thenright decision. To shorten the story because I only have so much room I had him there from early in the day all the way til closing on a Friday, they knew.he was real sick and out of it to where they rushed him on a tank. Come hours later towards the end of the night they had told me he needed to stay on the oxygen tank and he would have to stay over night and he would need to stay on a oxygen tank or he could well..pass..so I said well is there over night staff.tjat go in the back that check on him? She said no? Let alone and riddle me this she also said that they do not keep the oxygen tanks on over night? It was the weekend...no one would be there again until Monday? I repeated back what she had just told me and she said with a confused tone as well and said "yeah I know?" I had to rush him down to the one off Blackstone near Herndon...I had wasted the whole day there and they knew what was going on but they let me waste my time and rack up that bill. I am still in awe how someone could do that to someone else. Please don't go here, if they let this happen once I'm sure it has happened before and or will happen again. This spot is about money. Rest in piece my lil pepper I wish I would have never came across business when looking for somewhere to take him. Yes I'm still.paying his $1600 something. But if I could I'd go homeless rather then had taken him here. Good luck guys to anyone going through something similar and please make a better choice then I did. Heart

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are deeply sorry to hear about your pet’s condition and understand how distressing this situation must be. To clarify, your pet was seen the day before at the ER, where care recommendations were declined. When admitted to our hospital the following day in a worse condition, we performed extensive lab work and radiographs over the 5 hours your pet was with us, all while providing oxygen therapy.

During this time, your pet was diagnosed with a severe heart condition and a severe respiratory condition. We recommended transferring your pet back to the ER for continued oxygen therapy, as we are not an overnight hospital, and your pet’s prognosis was grave without it. We are open 12 hours a day, every day, including weekends, but transferring critical patients is necessary for their best care.

Additionally, the invoice for our services was $1100, not $1600 as mentioned. We are committed to providing the best possible care for all our patients and are here to support you through this difficult time.

Experiencia fantástica: After $800, 3 visits to our original vet and another for a 2nd opinion, I was recommended by a friend whose daughter works here. My 11 year old kitty who had been suffering with congestion, sneezing, bloody discharge from her nose and coughing …which eventually got worse with a large mass over her right eye that caused her third eyelid to be exposed. I went in as a walk in patient and the place was packed! After a few hours she was seen and tests were conducted. Everything showed up negative except more tests needed to be done to confirm cancer. At this point, I just wanted her to be comfortable. I took her back a week later for a follow up and the vet gave her two steroid injections. She is feeling so much better and is now breathing better and eating normal. Thank you so much to Dr. Nick for helping my Gracie!! This is our new veterinary hospital!! Experiencia negativa: I took my dog to them because she had gotten a couple of fox tails in her eye. At the counter with me was a lady whom had just got her dog back for the same reason. I followed her outside and inquired about what they did and how much it cost her? She informed me that it costs her $502.00. So, I went back a few days later, and after waiting for 3 hours, the most unprofessional woman comes in, referrs to me as 'Sweetie', and told me my bill would be $1100.00. I do not know how she maintains employment in a service job. If I was her boss, she would be fired!! She is going to cost your company money! If you decide to go to these people, rest assured that they are going to gouge you. Just FYI!! I want to add to this post: I took my dog to the 24 Hour Vet on Blackstone and saved over $500.00!! Also, Cedar vet said that for my unprofessional experience, that I owed them $51.00! Inside of thirty days they turned my case over to a collection agency in order to ruin my credit! I wouldn't take a dead rat to these people! Go to Blackstone and save money! Shut this sorry business down!!

Hello - Thank you for your feedback. To clarify, the $500 service was for a cat, while your 30 lb dog required different sedation, medication, and doctor time, leading to different costs. Our friendly staff aims to create a welcoming atmosphere, and they will not be penalized for their kindness. As a walk-in without an appointment, a longer wait time is to be expected.
