Experiencia negativa: I would like to share VCSG's response to my review - apparently I am too stupid to know A.M. from P.M. To help us stupid people - How about some verbiage like - our cardiology hours are evening only and the first available is 10:00 P.M...you might even say our cardiology hours are evening only from 4:30 P.M. to midnight. WOW even I would have understood that! Response from the owner a day ago "We are extremely sorry for the misunderstanding. Our cardiologist has worked the same hours for the past 3 years. So there was not a possibility to have you schedule at 10am when he doesn’t even start until late in the afternoon. We are certain that we did explain the time for the appointment, however, we understand that it is was not clear enough to you. We are sorry you feel this way and could not understand that is was a clear misinterpretation. We wish you well. Sincerely VCSG!" Previous review: I would NOT recommend them if they were the last veterinary group on the earth! I waited over a month for a kitten cardiologist appointment and when I arrived this morning I was told the appointment was for 10:00 P.M. at NIGHT. Why would they not have stressed that?? The office manager, Paige, said it was my fault that I did not understand the appointment was at NIGHT and refused to give me contact information for the owner. This kitten was so important to me as I have lost 4 fur babies in the past few months and my husband a year ago. I left the office in tears.

Experiencia fantástica: 5 stars isn’t enough. I would give 1000 stars if I could. They SAVED my dogs life after a piece of broccoli got stuck in her throat. I can never thank you enough!

Experiencia negativa: Was there a few weeks ago with my cat who was having seizures it came on extremely suddenly and it was at night so we rushed to the nearest animal hospital which unfortunately for us was this one. We got there and the staff up front was exceedingly slow almost mopey and after a few minutes of awkwardly petting my cat the girl up front put us in a room where we waited approximately 30 minutes for a “doctor” I assume to come into the room (she was very young and spoke almost in a whisper it was hard to hear anything she said) they took my cat back to run blood work and after about an hour or so they came back and essentially said they had no idea what was wrong and offered no path forward other than follow up with your primary vet. We paid roughly 800 dollars for that visit which was insane, while at the checkout the girl at the desk was exceedingly rude and off putting. The next day we took her to VCA on Amnicola highway and the difference was just night and day. They also didn’t know exactly what it was but they gave us the most likely causes and offered treatment plans and a general path forward (on top of this we paid less money and they did more it’s actually mind boggling) it meant a lot to know we were at least trying something to save her. I’m sure that the people at Animal Emergency& Specialty Center of Chattanooga are good people but if anyone ever asks me where they should take their animal it wouldn’t even be a question.

Experiencia fantástica: On January 11, 2026, we lost our Davidson. We had to make that hard decision. The staff here was so thoughtful and caring. They let us take as much time as we needed so say our goodbyes. When we picked him up they put cards and notes in with his paw and nose print. Thank you again for taking care of our baby

Experiencia fantástica: Visited here for our very sick and anemic cat. My husband and I had to make the very sad decision to put our cat down. Thank you to the informative and caring staff that made that transition easier for us. It was a very hard time but your empathy and kindness made it easier. We will miss our Frankie.

Experiencia fantástica: I don't even know where to begin with writing this review, this place absolutely blew me away with the kindness and care. Our cat Sneakers had a ruptured eye that we tried and tried and tried our best to have surgery for, but couldn't find anyone to work with us. After the eye started bleeding we rushed her here as it was the only vet open and we where in a panic feeling like we were about to loose our fur baby. They got us in quickly and our fur baby was seen quickly and they presented our options to us straight forward without any mark ups or upsells. They were willing to do the surgery right then and there after we paid upfront for it. So we did, they took our fur baby back with them and we went home after a couple of hours I got worried so I called to do a checkup and shortly after the doctor gave me a call right back and explained everything. Here is were this place stood out to me. The doctor told me that she delayed the surgery so she could discharge all other mild cases to ensure all her focus could be on sneakers and removing this eye. So they let sneakers hang out with the staff laying in their laps and keeping her comfortable and treating her like family! That absolutely blew me away that they treated our fur baby with so much love like she was their own! I highly recommend this place

Experiencia fantástica: My sweet little girl crossed the rainbow bridge a week ago. The amazing staff were so incredibly supportive and helpful to my girl and the rest of my family during one of our darkest moments. In addition to her ashes, they provided us with cards with her paws and nose imprints, a cast with her paw imprint, and a letter from the team expressing their sympathies. I could not have trusted my baby with a better team.

Experiencia fantástica: Our sweet dog died at home on a Sunday afternoon from congestive heart disease. We didn't know where we could take her on the weekend. They told us to bring her there. They offered us so much sympathy and support. We decided to ha e our dog cremated and had her back a week later. They gave us paw prints and a nose print. They also gave us a cast imprint of her little paw. We received a sympathy card signed by so many of their staff. The level of care and comfort expressed over our grief was overwhelming. With this level of service after our dog's passing, I can only imagine how much care and concern they will show your pet when they need it most. I highly recommend them.

Experiencia positiva: Brought my Lab in around midnight, they figured out the problem and had the surgery later that day. They did a wonderful job diagnosing the problem and resolving the issue, she healed up nicely. Great staff, they thoroughly explained everything going on and answered all of my questions, even at home recovery. It is a little pricey, but care is worth it.

Experiencia fantástica: My fiancé and I had to use their services recently for our senior cat. From reception to the final goodbye we could not have asked for a more compassionate and kind group of women to walk us through such a challenging journey. We are forever grateful for you all and the dignity you gave our much beloved, and missed, Peanut.

Experiencia fantástica: I am forever grateful to the team at this emergency veterinary hospital for saving my dog’s life. When we arrived, she was actively crashing. She would not have made it through the weekend without immediate intervention. From the moment she was admitted, the staff moved quickly to stabilize her, and they were very clear about the severity of her condition and the risks involved. She underwent emergency surgery the following morning and was cared for in the ICU for two days. While the experience was understandably more clinical and transactional — similar to a human ER — that never mattered to me. I could see how busy they were, especially on a weekend, and I fully understand that emergency medicine requires emotional regulation due to the volume of trauma they see. What mattered was the quality of care, and that care was EXCEPTIONAL. THEY SAVED MY GIRL. She came home acting like herself again — a complete, polar opposite of the condition she was in when she was admitted. That alone speaks volumes. I will always be indebted to this team for their skill, urgency, and dedication. If you are facing a true emergency and need a team that knows what they’re doing under pressure, this is the place you want caring for your pet.

Experiencia fantástica: I have no doubt that our Jack was well taken care of during his exam, which was very thorough. We are very satisfied with the diagnosis we were given, although not what we had hoped for. I hope to never be back, but without question, hands down, best er vets! I wouldn’t hesitate to return

Experiencia fantástica: Update in January 2026: I'm very sad to say that over the last 18 or so months I've gotten to know the folks at AESC much better than I'd like to, but the good news is that they have provided consistent, high quality care every time I've had to take my cat in. We were there last night and Shyann was our vet tech, and I've never had anyone from a vet's office be as good with my cat. My cat is very spicy at the vet, but Shyann was so sweet with her, went really slow and gentle, and my cat didn't even seem to realize she was getting a physical examination. It really made such a difference in how stressed my cat was, and it made a scary and long visit to the emergency vet so much more pleasant for my sick kitty. Thank you Shyann and everyone else at AESC! I took my cat here when she kept crying and peeing on the floor. I got there around 10:30pm, and they were able to put us directly into an exam room. They handled my extra ornery cat so well, despite her spitting at all the vet techs and screaming like a banshee. We were out in about an hour with antibiotics and pain relievers for a suspected UTI. AESC sent the notes from the visit to my regular vet first thing in the morning, and I was very happy with the visit (given the circumstances). I would have given them 5 stars anyway, but I took her to a different emergency vet about a year ago when I couldn't get an appointment at any regular vets. That experience was awful, it took about 4 times longer and cost 3 times as much, they took my cat and told me I could wait in my car, and they never sent the records over to my regular vet. Because of that, I was pleasantly surprised with AESC and how quickly they got us in and out, the care they took with both my cat and me, and how much less it cost than the other emergency vet. I would give them six stars if I could!

Experiencia fantástica: We had to bring our sweet Isabel here and lay her to rest. Everyone was so nice and caring. Two techs came out with a stretcher to carry her in bc she couldn't walk. They took us right into a room and we stayed with Isabel the entire time and gave us as much time as we needed. They were very respectful regarding the payment as well. We picked up our girl yesterday and it was the most beautiful put together set I've ever seen. The vaze, the clay foot print the paper foot prints on elegant gold paper, the nice card that the staff signed (which was custom- with her name through out) and a creamation certificate, which I had never seen before. I really appreciate how amazing her remains came back and the kindness of the staff. Thank you.

Experiencia negativa: I took my 10 week old puppy in there due to his intentions being swollen and the dr came in and said he needed emergency surgery. That was not true and during them preparing him then the gave him Anastasia which made his heart stop and I know they gave him 2 much. They had to perform cpr and that being said brought him back. Then they performed the surgery and when the surgeon came out she was telling us that the surgery went well but he didn't need it. So my puppy was a experiment and he was in intense of care and they were worried but then 2 days later he passed away. IF YOU TAKE YOUR ANIMAL THERE BEWARE CAUSE THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY IS IN YOUR POCKETS. THEY COULDNT EVEN FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY PUPPY IT WAS A GUESSING GAME. THE STAFF IS GREAT AND SOME DRS BUT IN MY BOOK ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY. I WOULDNT RECOMMEND THEM 2 ANYONE DUE TO WHAT I JUST WENT THROUGH.

Experiencia negativa: Worst experience ever — first and last visit with any of my 5 pets. My 7-month-old dog swallowed a pair of socks, so I called and was strongly advised to come in. At 11:08 pm, I called back to say I was on my way. I arrived around 11:23 pm. Staff was friendly, at first, but that’s where the positives end. I waited due to rooms being “full.” While waiting, I asked to quickly weigh my dog since there was a scale right there — I was told no. (Waiting room was empty) After finally getting a room, a tech took my dog for what I assumed was an injection (no clear explanation as it was only casually mentioned). Later, another tech asked if anyone had discussed x-rays with me — that’s how I learned the injection failed and my dog didn’t throw up the socks. I agreed to x-rays because I needed to know if she could pass them. Then came more waiting. By 1:00 am, I STILL had not seen the doctor — despite hearing her talking with a client who arrived after me. My dog was exhausted and restless, and I was worried about driving home safely. I asked to check out since this clearly wasn’t being treated as an emergency. I was ready to pay, card in hand — but they refused because I “hadn’t seen the doctor.” After even more waiting, and still no doctor, I was told they couldn’t check me out and if I left my account would be sent to collections!!! Even though THEY refused to take my payment. I felt like a hostage!!!! At 1:37 am, I left without ever seeing the doctor, without results explained, without knowing my dog’s weight, condition, or cost of the visit. No follow-up call. No apology after I left. The waiting room was still empty when I left and staff was moping! Yet I couldn't be seen or helped! I'm now home in tears, terrified for my puppy, waiting until Monday for my regular vet, hoping she'll be ok till then. After more than a 2 hour emergency vet visit I might as well have never gone to but I'll have a bill sent to collections for!!! Never again. I’ll be warning every pet owner I know.

Experiencia fantástica: I had the unfortunate circumstance of having to take my oldest cat on a Saturday to be euthanized due to cancer. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life. The staff was extremely caring and made sure she was comfortable when she passed. That was a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday I received this letter in the mail, and instantly began crying from how thoughtful the members of this center are. They didn't have to do that, and it touched my heart. Forever thankful for the kindness and if I ever need emergency pet services again I will absolutely bring my babies here.

Experiencia fantástica: Our experience was nothing short of exceptional! The care, concern and love shown to us and our precious Creed were selfless. While our dogs outcome was not favorable, the Dr and staff showed such love and compassion, and we are forever grateful. They were so kind from the time we walked in the door. The Veterinarian explained everything is such detail, and the staff provided comfort in our loss. Thank you all so much!

Experiencia negativa: I will preface this by saying it was midnight when we came in. My dog had a breathing issue and did not like being taken from me upon arrival. I also did not appreciate the demeanor of the staff. I understand it had been a long day, but they were very unprofessional and rude towards us. However, they were kind towards my dog. In my experience if you have a rude day, it’s not OK to show that towards any customer or patient.

Experiencia negativa: I called The Animal Emergency & Specialty Clinic of Chattanooga because my dog — my eleven-year-old Shih Tzu who’s already had bladder stones removed — suddenly started acting strange. The girl who answered the phone told me, in the tone of someone explaining gravity to a rock, that I “should take him to a vet ASAP.” Oh, thank you, darling — what a revelation. That’s precisely why I’m calling an emergency clinic. So, I drive seventy-eight miles through dread and hope to this sterile temple of apathy. The waiting room is empty — a mausoleum with a sign out front. A single vet tech, a man (and the only decent thing about the entire experience), comes in within five minutes, takes my dog’s temperature kindly and professionally, and disappears. And then, the curtain drops. For the next hour, not a soul enters the room. No doctor. No nurse. No one to even peek in and ask, “How’s he doing?” The lights buzzed. The clock ticked. My dog and I sat in what can only be described as a dress rehearsal for purgatory. Apparently, it was such an emergency that I had to rush there immediately — just to be left in a room long enough to question my faith in modern veterinary medicine and the concept of time itself. After an hour of abandonment, I went to the front desk and told them I was leaving to find a vet that actually existed. The receptionist looked at me with all the warmth of a parking citation. No apology. No concern. Just the hollow gaze of someone spiritually unionized against compassion. I asked what I owed. She disappeared into the back — perhaps to consult the Wizard Behind the Curtain — and emerged to say, “Since the doctor didn’t see your dog, there’s no charge.” Oh, how generous. Free neglect! Complimentary nothingness! A buy-one-hour-of-apathy-get-the-next-free special! Let’s be very clear: this isn’t an emergency clinic — it’s a theater of bureaucracy with the emotional range of a filing cabinet. A place where compassion goes to die under fluorescent lights. If you want to be ignored with professional precision, by all means, drive the 78 miles. If you want actual care, go anywhere else. This clinic is a tragic performance — and the actors have long since left the stage. My dog is fine, by the way — in spite of them, not because of them.

Experiencia negativa: Waited 3 hours in a room just to have the vet come in our room for not even joking …2 minutes. Never even touched our dog before getting called into another room. Literally didn’t even see her again after that. Could hear everyone laughing and talking in the hallway while we sat and waited for 3 entire hours. Left still not knowing what was wrong with our dog

Experiencia negativa: I brought one of my feral outside cats to be put down after being attacked by something. I was upset knowing I was bringing him here to end his life. The front desk was not compassionate at all. They just asked me if I wanted to stay around for my pet taxi back. Really just in awe for people to work with animals and have zero compassion. I sat in the lobby waiting on this whole ordeal to be over while crying and trying to console myself. Nobody said a thing to me or even a few words of kindness and compassion.

I called gave them every detail I have examined through the night and they said they couldn’t give me any information over the phone which is completely ridiculous any vet should know with the details I explained something to do through the night until morning but no. Experiencia fantástica: I cannot even begin to tell you how thankful I am for this facility, the doctors, nurses, techs, and other staff!! At 1/2AM on Saturday morning our pup ate a medication and package off of the table while we weren’t looking. The panic set in but I had no idea what to do. The following morning I woke up, she showed no signed of discomfort, diarrhea, or any nausea or vomiting but her urine was colored from the medicine (it does this to humans too), but this verified that she had ate at least one. I started calling all of the local vets and no one knew what to do, said they had never dealt with an animal who had ate this medicine. I determined at this point that we’d have to go outside of our town, and this was far more dangerous than we knew. We called this facility and were told to immediately bring her in to be checked out. The people were amazing, they were honest and straight forward even though it was hard to hear. This medication is no joke, it was extremely dangerous and toxic. This was our first time ever dealing with an emergency with our dog. The doctor was straight forward and kind, they determined they needed to keep her to ensure she didn’t have any major changes. Poison control was working along side them and guiding them to give her the best care. They did determine it was not safe for her to go home with the circumstances. during her stay,They never missed a phone call or calling to updating me, and I was able to call and check on her even at the late late hours of the night. Never once was anyone rude to me. complete kindness! They set us up with medications for home with detailed instructions, food for the next day or so, and follow up instructions for the next two days for blood work and other analysis. I hope we never have to come back.. but I would recommend this facility to everyone with an emergency situation with your pet. they were knowledgeable and quick to act! There was no wait to be seen and even with a 24 hour stay, it was not terribly expensive. Our sweet girl is home and safe because of this facility!! **The medication was AZO, urinary pain relief**

Experiencia negativa: I feel like the vets weren't as straightforward as they should have been about my cat's condition. Night one a vet deemed he was severely constipated and gave me the option between enemas and hospitalization/deobstipation. I opted for enemas because she gave me the impression they would work at home even though they didn't work while he was in the clinic. I took him home and had to return 12 hours later to hospitalize him for the deobstipation procedure after all. During the hospitalization, I was told for the first time that he had an old pelvis fracture that had narrowed the path for stool to pass and made it hard for the vet to remove it. However, with a heavy serving of colonoscopy juice down his nose, the vet seemed confident that he would be fine in 24 hours. He wasn't. When she recommended more time in the hospital, I had to refuse due to cost. I asked her point-blank if she thought there was any hope for him at home and she waffled before saying "I always say 50/50 in cases like these." So home he went in hopes of a 50% chance of a useful bowel movement. He had a whole lot of diarrhea, but no firm stool was passed and in the end, he wasn't passing anything. Today I took him to a pre-scheduled appointment with Shallowford Animal Hospital because I had planned to get him microchipped (because the ER seemed confident he would recover!). The vet THERE did more x-rays and what I saw was absolutely hopeless. Obviously hopeless. I made the difficult decision to euthanize him today. I'm so frustrated that 1) the first vet never mentioned the fractured pelvis and the challenge it would cause and 2) the second vet led me to believe he could recover when it was clear he couldn't. I spent around $2,500 here just to spend another $700 at Shallowford for x-rays and euthanasia. Heartbreaking and costly.

Experiencia fantástica: Everyone was genuinely so kind every step of the way. The staff was beyond communicative and reassuring when it came to treatment, pricing, and answering any and all goofy questions I had. I hope I never have to take my dog here again but if I do, I feel better about it.

Experiencia negativa: I am deeply disappointed with the way my pet’s final moments were handled here. I was told that my pet was dying and that he would be brought in to be with me, but instead he was taken from me and returned already gone. I went out to the desk and asked to be with him before they brought him to me, i was told they were putting in an IV and it wouldn't be much longer. The vet came into the room and said he was actively passing, and i asked to be with him again. the tech then brought him to me already gone. the Vet and vet techs words contradicted one another, and i'm thankful the tech was honest when she brought him in the room. Losing a pet is devastating on its own, but being lied to and not allowed to say goodbye while he was still alive has left me heartbroken. I expected honesty and transparency, and unfortunately, that was not what I received. I truly hope this clinic reconsiders how they handle end-of-life care, because no family should have to experience this type of loss in such an unkind way.

Experiencia positiva: We took a 7 week old foster kitten here one evening because he was constipated. They took an x-ray and the vet came and talked to us and said he was pretty blocked up but only needed an enema. Enema was completed and we went home, no big deal. We took him back the next evening because he still hadn't pooped. Different vet this time, she looked at the x-rays taken the evening before and dropped a bomb on us. Kitten had mega colon, euthanasia was recommended. It was a difficult decision to make, we ended up euthanizing him. The euthanasia process was respectful, humane, and they were very caring and understanding. My 3 star review is due to my frustration that we were there the night before and this was not spotted. We were so relieved and happy that he just needed an enema but our worry grew with every passing hour that he did not go to the bathroom. We were given a false sense of hope and then everything ended in the worst case scenario.

Experiencia fantástica: Our baby had an incredibly unfortunate accident which led to us having to humanely euthanize her. The care and quality of the staff, most particularly, Dr. Lara V. helped make the nightmare more bearable. Such a wonderfully compassionate crew of folks. Thank you all so much for giving our Gigi a soft transition. We'll never forget how well you treated us and our baby. Thank you.

Experiencia fantástica: They were open and available late when we were in desperate need of help for our beloved cat who was having cancer-related breakthrough seizures. Quick, kind, compassionate—they got her seizures under control right away and made her comfortable, then took the time to talk with me at length. They put me at ease with the heartbreaking decision to put her to sleep as well, simply being honest and kind about the situation and not making me feel like a horrible person to do it. They even sent a sympathy card afterward. It’s a bit expensive, but I understand that’s what the case is when you have to staff a place 24/7. It wasn’t exorbitant, though; it was fair, considering, and they made an utterly terrible night a little more bearable. I hope I won’t need their services again, but if I do, they’ll be the ones I go to.

Experiencia negativa: Came in and immediately sent to an exam room. Our cat had blood work and a few other tests. No X-ray , no ultrasound sound was told to come back Tuesday for that . The poor cats neck was soaking wet with antiseptic of some sort not even wiped off after bloodwork .Today is Sunday. We were left in that room for over 2 and a half hours. We were given an appetite enhancing medication. The bill was exorbitant for the treatment we received. Not very professional.

Experiencia fantástica: We came in today with my cat who was really sick to the point I thought we would have to euthanize her. Dr. Reis let us know her vitals were good and didn't feel comfortable with that (I really didn't want to have to do it either). She went over everything we would need done. We got a printout with costs and were told what was optional and what was really needed to be done. She let us know that the blood work and disease tests could be done at our vet, but we chose to have it done there since we could get the results within an hour. Dr. Reis explained everything to us in detail so we understood what everything meant, and let us know what needed to be done to proceed with detailed instructions for care and typed up what we were told as well. I was very happy with the experience we had with the staff there, and I'm glad they were able to save my cat during a time I thought I was going to lose her.

Experiencia fantástica: We brought our kitten here after he was diagnosed with pneumonia and a bladder infection. Our regular DVM didn't have much hope for his recovery, so we came in for a second opinion and to be sure we were doing as much as we could for him. The staff here was so sweet and thorough. They gave us different meds and never acted like there was no hope for the little guy. Today is day 4 after our visit and our kitten is nearly back to normal. We are so thankful for their help and for giving our kitten a better shot at recovery. Also worth noting, they were fast and surprisingly not busy on a Saturday morning. Their prices were higher than our usual DVM, but we live in a rural area and since they are an emergency center in a bigger city we expected that.

Experiencia negativa: I came in today at 5:32 with my family, but unfortunately, it wasn’t the most welcoming environment. I understand that everyone can have off days, but there is never a reason to be rude or standoffish. The two young women at the front desk did not come across as kind, and it felt as though our presence was more of an inconvenience than a welcome. On top of that, we were never asked why we were visiting the animal ER, which made an already sad and stressful time even harder. I believe a simple acknowledgment, a kind word, or even asking about the reason for our visit would have gone a long way in making the experience feel more compassionate. Families coming to the ER are often under a lot of stress, so a welcoming attitude and empathy at the front desk can make all the difference.

Experiencia fantástica: Visiting from Florida and our buddy, Rozwell (Alaskan Malmute) was bit by a poisonous snake. From paper work to intake and care, we couldn't ask for better care of Rozwell. As a health care provider, the expertise of the physicians and Vet techs ( Dr.Reis, Ivey, Brittany, et,al.,) was top of the line!!! I would recommend this facility to anyone visiting the Chattanooga area seeking care of their babies in an emergency situation. Thank you all!!

Experiencia negativa: I hate writing reviews; however after trying to call and make a report and being hung up on I am given no other choice but to do so; my husband and I had rescued a dog and while waiting on her appointment with our regular vet we brought her here… we were seen by Courtney (who had seen our other dog previously in some time before and thought we could trust); the dog we rescued had a serious rash like and hair loss on her; and we had no idea what it was or what to do… they apparently ran test; however we were never given results and when I’ve called for the results; I got hung up on she was put on prednisone for this rash and when I asked Courtney if it could be cancer as the dog also had a few small bumps located in various places on her body. Courtney immediately shut that down and said absolutely not that it was just from infection of the rash and she would be fine and the bumps would go away after the prednisone. She did tell me she ran a test to check if it was cancer and it came back negative; they apparently also took blood work and skin cultures; but never gave me the result of those tests.. It’s taken me some time to write this review as we had seen our regular vet later on (about a week later). They ran test and asked if she had been seen anywhere else. Which we told them here. They asked about the test ran and I told them of our experience. Come to find out. Our dog was ate up with cancer. We spent a few thousand dollars and unfortunately we ultimately had to get her euthanized due to this as they said her immune system was severely weakened by the prednisone she was prescribed and that’s why in just a week of time her condition got severely worse because the cancer was able to spread faster due to the prescription. However. Courtney assured me that day of the visit it was not cancer at all due to a test she apparently ran as well. So I feel lied to and manipulated and used for money. And we will not ever be coming back here. A waste of 700 and something dollars that could’ve went to this poor dogs care to try and help her out a little longer.

Experiencia negativa: The dr was good and caring but they outright lied to me about the price. We went Sunday evening and our dog was very sick, but when they said they wanted to keep him I said if we can get him stable until in the morning we could take him to our vet here in Dalton. They lady told me the only part of the visit that would be more than our regular vet was the office visit of 140. So we left him there for 24hrs. The price when we returned to pick buddy up was $2900. Today we had to take him to our vet dogwood Valley animal care in dalton because buddy wasn't eating . They done blood test and ultrasound and said we needed to leave him for 48hrs . The price for 48hrs was $650 -$800. Animal er and specialty cost me $2900 for 24hrs and the same test and meds. I will never come here again. I can't believe the price difference and they said the price would be the same except for their $140 office visit. This is sad. I got ripped off bad...

Experiencia negativa: glorified urgent care at best. I would not go here for an actual emergency. Their entire diagnosis was wrong including a radiology report. I took my dog here 2 times and also pricing for services were different both times. Their vets are also not really critical care or ER specialists but have no extra training than regular vets. I came in very worried about my dog and was ultimately treated like a hypochondriac and it ultimately cost me my dogs life. If you have an emergency, go to Broad Street or VCA River, whichever is closer.

Experiencia negativa: If you want your dogs alive DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE, this place is an absolute joke, what a horrible place, they DO NOT care about their clients or the animals whatsoever, all they want is your MONEY, I took my dog into this place to get help because her paw was hurting her, and the nightshift woman so called "doctor" was evaluating my dog Zoey, and was touching her back and Zoey was very frightened and does not do well around new people, she was shaking really badly and she snapped at the "doctor" and the doctor got mad and said she was going to get a muzzle and never came back, then we waited half an hour for another lady to come in with the bill, and there was a bunch of charges, none of which that had to do with her paw, the doctor said she thinks something is wrong with her back, but there was not, she wanted to charge us almost $2000 to get xrays and a bunch of other stuff she didn't need, all they wanted was money from us, when we told them we didn't want to pay that, we decided to leave, and they made us pay $200 dollars for doing nothing. They did not help my dog in anyway and we wasted 2 hours in that horrendous place. This place is an absolute joke. Do not take your dogs here. Shame on you.

Experiencia negativa: Horrible place. My wife to our cat here and they told her the tempature was 91. Put my cat on a warming blanket, till I could get there. I arrived and my cat wasn’t in the room with my wife. She set there crying, no comfort. I arrived 1 1/2 hour later. When the doctor came in and basically said the only option was to euthanize. When the brought my cat in for the last time her breathing was horrible. I asked my wife if she was breathing like that when you brought her in she said no. The doctor even gave me an attitude when I asked questions. What a joke of a place. No wonder only one car in the parking lot. The girls in the lobby only care about giggling and joking around. I don’t even know if they are credited.

Experiencia negativa: I arrived around 2:30 pm and their were hardly no cars in the parking lot. I was sent to room 4 quickly. I was met with a tech quickly about 10 minutes later and told and answered questions about my dog. I then wait 40 minutes for the vet to come in and then evaluates my dog and says his days are numbered to me and so on. I then wait seeming like for ever to receive medication and to check out. I was there for 3 hours. I asked why so long and told they had emergencies which is unfortunate and understandable yet waiting in the room with my very sick dog I watched multiple people walk past room 4 back n fourth in the hall laughing and talking back in fourth. I will never and I mean never be back their again and since me have freedom of speech I'm letting everyone I know about mine and my dogs experience! So disappointed in a place like this when I was so worried about my dog wanting him help. I'll go Walmart for help for best friend again before I ever step foot in that joke of a place ever again and I swear to God! Shame on you

Experiencia fantástica: I know there’s a lot of mixed reviews for this place but I feel like that’s just the nature of the beast for a 24 hr animal hospital. I’ve been here twice. Once to have my severely sick my dog die within minutes of arriving, and another with my cat with an infected bite. Both times they’ve been really friendly and the prices have been fair. Facility is clean, has a respectable public restroom, conveniently located, and has ample free parking. From my estimate, you pay about a $150 premium to come here for what would typically be a standard vet visit in Chattanooga. Key word there is standard. Of course if you’re in need of trauma care and 24 hour monitoring, it will inevitably be expensive. But if you need something like antibiotics and a wound cleaning STAT, you’re not going to walk out with a crazy $1K bill just because you went to an animal ER. Maybe $300-$400, which a vet in Chattanooga would probably charge $150-$200 for. That’s just my experience/take, but I think that’s fair considering they’re 24/7 and can handle everything and much more than a typical vet is equipped for. I’ve been lucky and the wait hasn’t been too bad, but it’s a drop-in Vet ER, so you never know what you’re gonna get, and neither do they, to be fair. I’ll definitely be back. Thank you to the team at Animal Emergency & Specialty Center for running a tight ship and being fair to work with.

Experiencia fantástica: Last November my little 3.5 year old black cat, Paulie, suddenly collapsed and was unable to move his back legs. My spouse and I found him like this the night before Thanksgiving and rushed him to Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Chattanooga because his regular vet was closed. From the moment we brought him up to the reception desk, the staff was very helpful and responsive and took him back to be examined right away. We didn't have to wait long for answers, which indicated Paulie had a saddle thrombus. Sadly, this condition carries a very poor prognosis. The vet was very kind and patient in explaining what everything meant and what they recommended. Even though it was very difficult, my spouse and I made the decision to let Paulie cross the Rainbow Bridge that night. The staff gave us all the time we needed in a private room before we left and they even brought the card machine into the room so we could pay in private (we were both crying pretty hard at that point.) I wish I could recall the name of the vet we spoke to, but I can't as that was five months ago. I had wanted to leave a review right away because I was so blown away by the speed and quality of service as well as the patient and compassionate attitudes of the entire staff, especially considering it was close to eleven pm on the night before a major holiday. I was just unable to leave a review sooner because it has been so difficult coming to terms with Paulie moving on. The staff even sent us a sympathy card with multiple signatures about a month after the fact, which we greatly appreciated. I would enthusiastically recommend this business to anyone!

Perry, we’re very sorry to hear about your experience—especially in such a scary and urgent situation. In poisoning cases, we often refer to the Pet Poison Helpline, which is staffed by toxicology specialists and charges a fee independent of our clinic. Unfortunately, emergency medical care for pets is just as expensive as emergency medical care for humans, but I really appreciate that they were more than willing to discuss my options with me, and to explain the reasons behind their recommendations and the risks for my cat. Experiencia negativa: Terrible vet, nearly killed my dog due to lack of urgency and communication. We called ahead and the operator on the phone said they would be able to immediately see him and that they had no wait. When we got there, the receptionist informed us that "she described our dogs condition from our description over the phone to the doctor, and the doctor said he is not urgent enough to see for multiple hours at the minimum." The doctor refused to even look at our dog in person. The receptionist told us there policy is to "not inform patients of a wait over the phone because it discourages visits," absolutely disgusting. We immediately went to another vet where we were informed he would have absolutely died if we had waited for hours in the waiting room, like the doctor here suggested, after 36 hours in intensive care he survived. I will never take any animal here in the future, and if you have a serious emergency you should not take your animal here. They care more about following made up rules to get extra clients and money than actually saving animals lives or giving treatment. They responded to my wife's review with something like "we were just following procedure", yet no one would even look at my dog to see the severity, and if they had they would have seen he was obviously on the brink of death. Reading through the many other 1 star reviews, which are focused on this place price gouging, lawsuits, and having overall terrible service, I read one review of a person who had this exact same experience, except they listened to the vets here and waited 3 hours for the vet to even see their dog, and their dog passed away because of this.

Experiencia negativa: I would not recommend it is $750 up front then they come at you with $4400 price tag that has to be paid immediately. You are better off caring for your animal as best you can until you can get into see your own vet. And if your pet passes at least it will be with you and not a bunch of strangers. They take advantage of your weakened moment and just add more stress to you and your pet. Definitely all about the money.

The staff even signed a personal condolence card for you as well. I would definitely recommend their services. Especially as they're one of the very few opened all night. We did all our dealings post 10pm due to work and home schedules.

Experiencia positiva: Took my dog in with his eye popped out of the socket they wanted over 1000 dollars to pop it back in. Although they did apply eye lube give him a cone and some pain medicine (for around 180 dollars of course). I could not afford their fee and had to take him back home and wait till morning (while applying the eye lube every three hours) to go to my own vet who charged me around 500 which seems much more reasonable for the eye replacement and an overnight observation. They really do price gouge here because they know you are desperate to save your baby.

Experiencia fantástica: I highly recommend this facility. They took great care of my Thor. Unfortunately, he did pass away. He was around 13 years old and you found that he had a tumor in his liver. Everyone there was very kind and so patient and understanding. They allowed us as much time with him that we wanted after he passed to say our goodbyes. They were very understanding and patient with me as I changed my mind on rather to cremate him or not... I changed my mind more than once... lol. I picked up his remains today, and I bawled like a baby in the parking lot looking at the card, nose and paw prints, and all the things that came with his ashes. This was a heartbreaking experience, but you did what you could to try and make it easier on us. I am forever grateful. I've attached a picture of one of my favorite pictures of Thor and how I choose to remember him.

Experiencia fantástica: We’ve had to use AESC many times over the past few months for five different dogs - from mass removal surgery, to oncology, to emergency surgery for personal dogs and dogs through our rescue, to emergency euthanasia. I honestly can’t say enough good things about the team and the level of care they provide, and we’ve worked with just about every vet and tech in there at this point. Everyone there is so kind, and knowledgeable, and the clinic is well-run with easy wait times even on emergency. Dr Neal is an excellent (boarded) surgeon when specialty surgery is needed. AESC saved one of our dog’s lives when he presented with an atypical case of GDV, they provided compassionate care for one of my dogs with aggressive cancer, a rescue puppy with a tricky leg break and another that had been hit by a car. When I picked up my dog’s ashes, a number of the staff had written condolence notes. Emergency care is always going to be costly but I can say from (too much) experience that AESC provides excellent care for every animal that comes through their doors.

Experiencia fantástica: I took my dog on December 13, fearing his battle with CHF had reached an unfortunate end. The staff at Animal Emergency and Specialty Center were phenomenal. My wife and I were in an exam room, promptly, with professional and great care taken of our dog. Thank you for helping make a difficult time a little easier.

Experiencia fantástica: This facility provided us with the best experience possible for our pitiful cat. We took him in to let him pass and were greeted with many soft spoken and understanding individuals. They were patient and let us take our time saying good bye to our Acer bud. I attached a photo of him when he was healthy. We sincerely thank you guys @ Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Chattanooga.

Experiencia fantástica: I came here for an emergency visit because my vet couldn't fit me in. They immediately got me and my dog in a room and started checking vitals and brought me a blanket because my dog was cold. I'm sad to say they gave me some very bad news about my dog. Doctor Sharpe was very caring, upfront about costs, and did a thorough check of my dog including an ultrasound and bloodwork. It was an awful day, but I'm glad this is were I decided to take my baby.

Experiencia fantástica: Took my cat here tonight and they were so sweet and caring to him. I now realize that my cat probably could've waited for an outpatient appt but I was so worried about him. Thankfully the staff was very understanding and didn't make me feel silly for bringing him in. They were thorough with diagnostic testing while still being up front about cost. I will definitely go to them again if I ever need urgent vet care.

Experiencia negativa: The doctors and staff were professional and kind, but it's corporate owned and they will literally price gouge you to death as a result. They charged me almost 600 just for a bag of IV fluid for the dog which is just saltwater with a few cheap additives for your pet. It maybe cost them a few bucks. I ended up paying almost 3k a day just to keep my dog there and all they did was run a few tests and do one small blood transfusion from the freezer. My dog died because of their greed since I couldn't afford anymore treatment. The cost would have been north of 8k for 3 days of treatment which only would have given me a few more blood transfusions and tests to tell me what caused her to need the blood. It wouldn't have even covered the cost of surgery if she needed it, or medication, etc. take your pet anywhere but here unless you have unlimited funds. This place will fully exploit your grief. RIP, Penny, I loved you dearly and you were the sweetest girl anyone could ever ask for.

Experiencia fantástica: I came to this location on November 6th, my cat had unfortunately passed away sometime during the night and I woke up to him in that unfortunate state, needless to say my world was turned upside down. Loki was the truest form of a best friend i’ve had and was always there for me during my lowest of lows. I called in tears to clarify a few things and the woman on the phone was very understanding and patient with me, she stated that they would have someone by the door waiting as well. When i arrived an hour later(i live about an hour away, there’s no other emergency vets in my area)i was let in and greeted with a smile, during this time i was still in disbelief and was refusing to believe he had passed. The veterinarian took him back to confirm his passing, she returned and gently told me he was no longer with us. The staff here were very professional and gentle with my situation, and i can’t help but express my deepest of gratitudes for handling it the way they did. I requested cremation in a clay pot with his name engraved on it. When i had come to pick it up the night it arrived, i looked through it in my car and noticed there was a good bit of extras that i didn’t originally sign for as I couldn’t afford anymore then i was paying. That gesture genuinely meant the world to me, and made me realized how much i would have regretted not getting those items. I still beat myself up over his passing as i was going to take him to the vet that day as he had been ill. All in all, the staff were very supportive, understanding, and gentle with the process. Whether they meant to or not they helped my grieving process significantly. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone needing to have their furry companion cremated, or taken care of in some way. I cannot thank you all enough. Rest in peace, Loki.

Experiencia negativa: DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT PROMPT CARE AND DONT WANT TO BE SCAMMED. I AM POSTING MY EMAIL HERE AND SCREET SHOTS SINCE ERNIE BARRIO AND DR. PHILIPS HAVE NOT ONCE ATTEMPTED TO REACH OUT TO ME. ENJOY! During intake, the veterinary technician left the room within five minutes to take a personal call, returning only after approximately 7 minutes. She then offered an unnecessary explanation regarding personal matters that were clearly not urgent. ON OCT. 28, Dr. Philips provided a detailed explanation of his plan during our consultation. However, he failed to deliver the promised next steps, dietary recommendations, or the care summary we discussed during the visit. In all my years of visiting veterinary offices, I have never left without receiving a written summary and clear action plan. Dr. Phillips also committed to researching the probiotic I was giving to my cat to determine its suitability. This follow-up was never completed. At checkout, the front desk agent struggled with the payment system, resulting in me swiping my card twice. After returning home, I received a call from your receptionist claiming I was incorrectly billed and that a refund had been issued instead of charging my account. I was then asked to authorize a $1,800 charge to correct the mistake, but the refund was not visible in my account. I paid the amount due for my service and kindly told her that I would be happy to pay the additional $900+ once it was visible in my account. Despite explaining that I was willing to settle once the refund was confirmed, I received repeated calls, voicemails, and emails during my client's trial abroad, which I perceived as harassing. The issue here is that You guys turned your mistake into my problem. On November 4th, I called the clinic to settle the outstanding balance and inquire about my cat’s test results. The front desk agent, Angie, displayed a dismissive attitude and seemed unwilling or unable to assist. I was calling to help fix a mistake the clinic had made and yet I was met with questions and hesitation. Is she not capable of doing any research on her own? I had given her all the information she needed such as the cat's information and the purpose of the call, but she acted like this was not enough and needed more information.I proceeded to inquire about my cat's test results and once again she asked me what I was referring to and that she didn't know what I was talking about. I don't know Angie, how about you take a look at the computer in front of you? Why does the Customer have to explain such menial information to you to get test results? As the person in front of the computer it is easy to do some research by looking at the services the pet had administered and services paid for and then possibly look to see what results the customer may be waiting on. Is that so hard? It is misplaced to put the responsibility on the customer. Angie said the results were not in yet, this was a lie. When I asked about the promised care summary, Angie falsely claimed it was contingent on pending test results-directly contradicting my discussion with Dr. Philips. I later discovered the results had been available since October 29, meaning your staff (specifically Angie) either intentionally misrepresented the facts or failed to adequately review your records. Angie’s behavior during follow-up calls on both November 4 and November 19 was consistent in its dismissiveness and lack of professionalism. Her repeated reluctance to assist or provide accurate information prolonged delays in my cat’s care. Due to your clinic’s negligence: I waited over three weeks for test results, despite their availability on October 29. I never received the promised care summary, dietary recommendations, or follow-up on additional testing. My cat’s condition deteriorated during this delay, depriving her of timely treatment, such as additional GI panels or steroids, that could have improved her quality of life. The clinic’s actions—or inactions— are deceptive.

Experiencia fantástica: We have had two medical issues for our dog while visiting from out of town. Both times we went to this clinic and had an incredible experience. The wait times were not crazy and vet techs and doctors were great. We appreciate the care they showed and getting our dog the right diagnosis and medication!

Experiencia fantástica: Had to walk my elderly cat in at the end of her life after a long time of battling renal failure. Despite not knowing us before, everyone we encountered from the moment we walked in to the devastating moment of walking out alone, they were extraordinarily kind. They set expectations of what to expect and were incredibly kind to us throughout the process. I hate that I needed their services but appreciate them.

Experiencia fantástica: Person who answered the phone communicated clearly. She was focused and helped me complete paperwork to get Chase seen. I was seeing the doc in 30 minutes. Having a place like this open 24 hours a day is a huge, huge asset for Chattanooga. I live in a much bigger city and would have to drive 50 miles to get this kind of care and service. She even told me the upfront cost for the visit on the phone. I thought it was VERY, VERY reasonable for the care we received. Very pleased.

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my German Shepherd in on an emergency basis. They were kind, considerate, and walked me through the diagnosis and all possible outcomes. I made the hardest decision of my life that day. The staff here are so compassionate and caring for myself and Mack, my German shepherd. Every person I was in contact with was excellent. I can’t tell you how broken I was while in their care. I went back a week later to pick up Mack after the cremation, he was lovingly put into a velvet bag with a card and condolences from every member of staff, a paw print, and something that brought me to tears. As I opened the 2nd envelope there were more paw prints, locks of fur, and a nose print. Little did they know, in my extreme grief, I didn’t think to ask for one. I cried for 2 days thinking I was never going to be able to get a nose print because it was too late. In closing, if you have a pet in distress, or a pet that is approaching the rainbow bridge i highly encourage you to become a client here. You will be met with knowledge, compassion, and a human connection even on your worst day. The staff here have my whole heart after my brief, but memorable interaction. Thank you from my toes to my nose. You are angels caring for our babies.

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my miniature schnauzer, River, in yesterday on a Sunday for vommitting and having diarrhea with blood in it. He hadn’t eaten since Friday night. Dr. Brunagan and the staff were wonderful. They gave him fluids and nausea meds and he is already feeling better. He ate his dinner tonight and is getting back to himself. I cannot thank them enough for taking care of my baby❤️

Experiencia fantástica: We had to have our family dog put down yesterday. I called and was crying like a baby. The staff showed so much compassion to my family and I. They allowed my whole family to go back with Jack while he crossed that rainbow bridge. 9 of us. They made me paw prints and clipped some of his fur for us. They were so sweet to us and our fur baby. Highly recommend this place to love and care for your babies.

Experiencia fantástica: We live in a rural area in western NC with only 1 emergency vet available to us and they were experiencing electrical problems last night. Our dog Molly had a ruptured spleen and was bleeding internally. I called the Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Chattanooga and they said to come in as soon as we can. We were 2.5 hrs away. We thought she could just get her spleen removed and everything would be OK but she was filled with tumors that we didn't know about so we had to put her down. My husband and I were absolutely devastated. Last night was the worst night of our lives. The staff was so compassionate I can't begin to explain how appreciative I am. Thank you for everything.
