Experiencia fantástica: Had an accident with my pup, she had trouble breathing, she’s back home and thriving now. Appreciate all the people here who work so hard to keep our babies alive Sarah at the front desk thank you for being so nice! Also make sure you have care credit or over 2000$ in the event of an emergency, not cheap but worth it

Experiencia fantástica: Our dog Kassey got sick after 9 PM. None of veterinary clinics work at this time, but she needed help immediately. We were taken to MedVet doctor, Tiara, in 30 minutes, although we were walk in patients. Very professional and nice team. The treatment helped. Thank you!

Experiencia fantástica: Had an emergency on Friday, February 27th at around midnight. Only place open in the area ( I live about an hours drive away). My German Shepherd took off chasing something when I let him out to potty. He ran full speed into (I think) into my small trailer splitting his head open and fracturing his skull. They him cleaned and stitched up by 2:30 a.m. He's doing good, but hates the cone. He can't scratch his wound. The place and staff was wonderful. Note: if you have Care Credit, and haven't used it in awhile, make sure your account is still active. I found out the hard way.

Experiencia fantástica: Had to have my dog put down and another place led me around in circles all day. So I called here and within the hour, her suffering had ended thanks to the staff. They were compassionate, careful with the needles and cheaper than other options.

Experiencia negativa: I took my dog there who was having difficulty breathing, she was put in a oxygen tent and that was it there were no x-rays there were no blood work the vet comes in and says that she's in congestive heart failure and that I need to consider putting her down that night.. I was told that they can do x-ray to see how bad it is but that would be $700. I was told she probably wouldn't survive the night I went home and tears upset distraught my husband comes home from work he's upset we're trying to spend all this time with her and she survived the night she was fine the next day. If they are recommending putting your loved one down get a second opinion this was a nightmare for our family thinking we are losing our beloved pets

Beth, we are so sorry to read how frightening this experience was for your family. When a dog is struggling to breathe, that is an emergency, and emotions understandably run very high in those moments.
When patients present in respiratory distress, our immediate priority is stabilization. Oxygen support is often the first and most critical step before additional diagnostics can be safely performed. Once a patient is stable enough, imaging such as X-rays may be recommended to confirm conditions like congestive heart failure and to assess severity. Those recommendations are made to provide clarity about prognosis and guide treatment decisions, not to pressure families. In severe cases of respiratory compromise, doctors may also discuss worst-case scenarios so families are prepared if a pet declines despite intervention.
We never recommend euthanasia lightly. That conversation is only introduced when we believe a patient may be suffering or at high risk of deterioration based on clinical presentation. That said, we understand how overwhelming and traumatic it can feel to hear that possibility discussed.
We would welcome the opportunity to review your dog’s visit in detail and walk through what was observed medically and why certain recommendations were made. Experiencia negativa: Brought our 1.5 year old cat here on an emergency cause she couldn’t walk and eat. Had seen the vet just days before and got checked but gotten worse. Ultimately the staff was nice no harm there but was unhappy to wait 3 hours and spend $1000 dollars just for them to tell us they had no idea what was wrong and to see the vet in the morning. Assurances of some sort should be considered after spending what most don’t even make in a 40 hour work week. They told us they weren’t even sure our cat would make it through the night and gave us cat food after we told them they weren’t eating.

Experiencia fantástica: Found our 3 month old pup with a possible UTI on a Saturday night. Knew we had to do something before Monday morning. I called Medvet and she said it was kinda busy, but we needed relief. They sent a link to my phone, which I completed on the way and when we walked in, the receptionist said "oh is this Lainey?" From the moment we walked in, everyone was so pleasant and attentive, and the facility was very clean. Determined Lainey had a UTI, provided meds, and we had a much more peaceful weekend knowing our little pup was getting more comfortable with each dose! Great teamwork thank you Medvet

Experiencia positiva: They were a little slow but friendly. The dr.tried telling me my dog had dirt in his ear but I assured her it was blood because I cleaned it up off my wood floors plus wiped it from inside his ear. They treated him for everything except his ear which has me baffled. Since coming home I've cleaned more dried blood out of his ear and from behind his ear where there's five or six scans. I believe his eardrum was injured because he hangs his head in the direction of the injured ear,shakes his head and his equal Librium is off when trying to stand or walk. I appreciate them making him comfortable with pain and anxiety meds but once they wore off the injury issue still remains the problem.

Experiencia fantástica: The staff had a very busy night and at 2am, we were all tired. The vet and staff still took such great care of our Chelsea and she’s so much better now. Please keep in mind that your pet isn’t the only one having a medical problem and some pets need surgery or get placed in front of you. Some issues are more life threatening and it’s an emergency vet, just like a person going to an emergency room. You won’t be in and out, but you and your pet will be taken care of.

Experiencia fantástica: Very pleased and comforted by the staff at MedVet. Our 9 year old dog had bladder surgery to remove stones on Friday by our regular vets and we were told there were two stones they'd been unable to retrieve. We were cautioned that if he could not urinate we would need to seek help immediately. Well, of course on Sunday morning that's exactly what happened and we rushed him to medvet. All of the staff (Julie, Summer, Lori, Sarah and Erica) were super friendly and calm throughout the process. Dr Kain came in and thoroughly and compassionately explained that two stones appeared to have lodged themselves in his urethra and all she was going to need to do to relieve him and keep him comfortable until we could get him back to our regular vet. Unfortunately we had to leave him overnight, but the staff sent me text updates with photos and comments about how sweet my pup is and made me feel like he was truly being cared for. Dr Graber returned my call in the morning within 5 minutes to explain to me what we would need to do today. Even after being there all night long she was patient, thorough and compassionate. She offered me her opinions on what needs to happen now and I really appreciated that second opinion as I go back to my regular vet and face an additional surgery on my dog. Obviously this was an expensive service, but it didn't feel over the top for everything they did and for having to keep him overnight with a catheter and ongoing need for medications

Experiencia negativa: I brought my dog in there because she was throwing up and had diarrhea they checked her heart rate and said I had to pay $700 for blood work and they couldn't tell what was wrong with her by looking at her well I hate to say it I took her over to a pet hospital on Alexis road the day after that and she had to be put down she was jaundice she was in the end stage of liver failure how the hell did MedVet not see that she was yellow like that when not even 12 hours later another veterinarian seen it without running blood work medvet would not have been able to save my baby how'd they miss that

Experiencia fantástica: Amazing staff here. They did everything they could for my cat when my general vet failed us terribly. My cat was too far gone to make it unfortunately. I’ve never lost a fur baby of my own. They treated her with respect, were detailed, very compassionate, and realistic with the expectations. Can’t say enough positive things about med vet. Dr Kain is the best. To set up aftercare I was too much of a mess to be on the phone so they texted me the options and made it very easy.

Experiencia fantástica: Took my female husky 10.5 yes old in to be seen for pyrometria. They confirmed that's what it was. Sadly we couldn't afford thier services. But the dr immediately with out hesitation called a few places. Explained our situation. Life line took us in that nite performed surgery. Now we are home healing and recovering. Experiencia negativa: Rude to Black people to until they find out you have money. Was told by the Vet that she is the most expensive in the city for an x-ray & meds. I asked the price she told me $700 plus so maybe a total of $1K or more. I laughed at her. I said okay you're not that expensive. She looks directly in my face and says "You'd pay that for a dog!' I instantly got pissed.

Experiencia negativa: The service they gave my dog was above and beyond and I’m so grateful they took such good care of him. The service we, his owners, received was the worst I’ve ever seen! I’ve been here before for the other rescues my mom has and never been through this. My fiancé and I brought our dog Teddy to this emergency hospital on February 1st after he was vomiting large amounts of blood after eating something. We were terrified and acting urgently to save his life. What followed was one of the most frustrating and heartbreaking experiences we've ever had. Back story we rescue Teddy the Thursday before this from an abusive environment, he was severely under weight and was not in the best physical state. Writing this now we know why, they assumed we abused him and don’t believe us when we told them what happened. The rescue was amazing at contacting us and communicating everything and even mentioned how the vet kept mentioning teddy’s state and us being his owners. With that said After check-in, Teddy was taken to the back and we were left in an exam room with zero updates for over 40 minutes. When we asked for information, we were told we would not receive any medical updates because a rescue organization had offered to help cover costs — even though Teddy was legally our dog with no ownership transfer of any kind. We were told Teddy was "not our dog," that the rescue was coming to pick him up (which the rescue later confirmed was untrue), and that staff would only communicate with the rescue — not with us, his owners, who were standing right there in the building. When we continued to ask for updates out of genuine fear that our dog could be dying, staff focused on telling us to lower our voices, they were busy, or because dongs we’re dying left and right there, rather than addressing our concerns. One staff member (the older lady from the front desk) openly said she was "matching his energy" because she felt my fiancé was being disrespectful and the way he held himself disrespectful — a troubling response from someone working in an environment where people are scared and emotional by nature. We were ultimately told and forced to leave without ever receiving a clear update on Teddy's condition, and staff refused to take our contact information, stating they would only contact the rescue. We came here in good faith during a medical emergency. We expected compassion, communication, and professionalism like how they have it posted in the exam rooms. Instead, we were dismissed, misinformed, and removed from the building while our dog was in their care. This experience was entirely avoidable with basic communication and transparency.

Experiencia fantástica: We raced to MedVet late on a Sunday night after our tiny Yorkie, Ralph, suffered a fall and couldn't move. He was seen right away, due to the severity of his injury (head/spinal trauma). The entire staff was friendly, caring, and thorough when explaining the recommended tx plan. Ralph stayed overnight for a course of meds and fluids to help with possible brain swelling. Two hours after we left, a vet tech texted me a picture of Ralph and a positive update! This meant so much to me, as it helped calm my nerves a bit. We picked him up the next afternoon and he's doing amazingly well! Depending on the reason for your visit, you might be there for a few hours, so be patient. You don't want them rushing through caring for your own furry family member - nor do the other people who are at MedVet :)

Experiencia positiva: Our very large dog ripped his acl tendon from his knee cap on the left hind leg. His other rgt hind leg already had the same issue. So now he has no mobility in the hind end. My boy was 11 yrs old and being a bigger boy and his heart was enlarged, we are unable to do surgery, as he would not make it, per our regular Vet. So we have decisions to make. But Med vet was very thorough and gave us many answers to our questions. Other than how expensive it is, I would recommend them. Thanks for all the help and advice.

Experiencia negativa: Not satisfied with this place. We spent 3 hours waiting which was expected. They took my dog back checked him out but I wasn't allowed to go with him, so I'm not sure what I was charged for. After that we were taken into a room and the vet came in only to blurt out that they can run diagnostics for $1500, but she wouldn't explain what diagnostics. She just kept repeating this. Then we were told we could pay for the office visit, whatever they did checking him out and some medication (omeprazole). This would be $500. We said no to the meds since we have them at home. The bill came down to $338. Still after everything no idea what was wrong with him. I kept him comfortable until I could see my vet. What it came down to was an infection that with all tests and medication and office visit with my vet was way less that $1500 and I knew everything they were checking before it was agreed upon. This place wants your money but they don't care about your family member.

Experiencia negativa: Front desk receptionist was not friendly. I walked in with my sick dog and she acted like i was bothering her just by being there. She was rude, condescending and acted like she didn’t want us there or to be there. There was a 4 hour wait. Then when I finally got in a room I was told that my dog needed a $600 X-ray, just for them to come back 5 min later with with him and say they didn’t see anything and offered a surgery that would be about 8-9k. I also asked for a copy of the x-rays not once but twice and they were never sent to me. I left feeling robbed with no answers. I will not be back again.

Experiencia negativa: Will never recommend them. Vet didn't seem to know what to do, sent home with empty medication bottle, but far worse was trying to call them about it when I was able to and have them insinuate I am at fault for not calling right away! I had to take the animal to another vet, so the trip was a waste of time. I have no idea what they did, they are rude on the phone and wouldn't give their names or who a supervisor is. Never take your animal there, it's only about the money to them.

Experiencia fantástica: Took my very sick newly adopted kitten there. Staff was wonderful. He had upper respiratory issues going on. Dr. Graber went over everything about his condition and treatment needed. She took all necessary steps to get him well and sent him home with medication. His condition was very serious. Up until that time he was not eating or drinking for several days (even though I had already taken him to my regular vet). Within 12 hours he was eating, drinking & playing the way a kitten should! Can’t say enough good things!

Experiencia negativa: Terrible experience at MedVet with our cat - I sent information in to MedVet's corporate site and have yet to hear back. Apparently they're ok with their Veterinarian's questioning you when you decide what medical intervention you want for your pet and will only try to convince you to put your animal down. Thankfully they weren't able to handle our situation in Toledo and transferred us to Commerce, MI where we had a much better experience. After talking with friends after the incident we found out that they've also had horrible experiences here and wouldn't recommend this office to anyone, ever. Hoping I hear back from Corporate soon regarding the $1200 I paid for nothing.

Experiencia fantástica: We have a 10 Week old puppy who swallowed a monopoly piece. I can't say enough great things about this facility. The entire team was so kind. Being the day after thanksgiving, I was exhausted and emotional. Every single team member was not in a hurry, took time to go over and explain each step. There was another family whose dog had reached the point of crossing the rainbow bridge. The staff was so comforting and cared for everyone. I never worried that our newest family member was getting top notch care. This is the place.

Experiencia positiva: While I took my dog here after an aggressive house mate attacks, it took several hours. We were given a few options to send him to a 24 hour dog hospital, or home with medicine. They did claim he possibly was on the verge of septic and explain that he would pass at home within a couple days, with the intensity of his wounds it was acceptable to say. While I am a very loving caring pet parent, and our own 24 home care. My boy is still here today! MedVet was great they did everything they could to help assist in saving my boy with the proper questions and answers we were able to make him comfortable and heal quickly, by day 4 he was walking a bit after having severe wounds to all 4 limbs and loosing a lot of blood. Buddy is happy and he was happy to be home and care for in the comfort of his home with his family. Thank you for doing all you did to help my boy. They did not give him a cone, so he did remove the stitches from his leg but it is healed.

Biggest thing is how many sad, heartbreaking emergencies that are received in an evening. Unfortunately, this delays time spent waiting! Being open from 12 noon to 12 midnight is a prime time for accidents to occur. Very knowledgeable staff and good to know the service is here!

Experiencia negativa: I went here at the end of August for my dog who was collapsing and flailing and showing extremely pale gums. 800 bucks later and I was told he was dying and had a tumor. I was given anti seizure meds, antibiotics,and a list of their associated neurologist and it felt as if I was being discouraged from seeing my regular vet. I was not told about why they gave him antibiotics, I just remember getting anti seizure meds and I remember them saying the antibiotics were something else. I took him to my regular vet and thank God I did because he had a SEVERE UTI infection and was diabetic. NEITHER of which was discussed with me. I will not be visiting this ER vet again. Thankful I decided to trust my gut and see my normal vet. Only come on to review now that his health is no longer in limbo.

Experiencia negativa: i took my dog a few weeks ago and the only good thing was they got me in quicker than another emergency vet would. they were unsure of was that wrong with her and just gave me a bunch of medication to give her hoping it would fix her issue. they said the only way they could maybe find out an issue was 400 dollar blood testing. after giving her a whole bag full of medication i come to find out she still had diarrhea a week after taking her and that they underdosed her on the most important and most expensive medication so it only half got rid of that was wrong. after almost 400 dollars later i had to turn around and go to my vet a week later for more medication and which was then almost 100 dollars. if the correct dosages was given it probably would worked like it was supposed to. i would only suggest this place if it’s life or death to your dog.

Experiencia negativa: Took my 10 month old hound in due to excessive throwing up, very lethargic, and extremely shaky. $650 x-ray, nothing shows up. Couple more hundred $$ in fluids, & meds. Just for him to take his first shit today, and there to be bones. BONES. How is that missed on xray When we were more than willing to do WHATEVER it took. My poor dog is throwing up STILL, shit bones, even more lethargic than before, and still extremely shaky. If zero stars were an option, it would’ve been zero.

Experiencia negativa: Lack of Compassion and Judgmental Staff. Avoid MedVet if Possible. My experience at MedVet on a Sunday evening was extremely disappointing, especially during a critical emergency with my dog, Lilly. We came in because she hadn't eaten for over 24 hours and was severely lethargic. The Negative Experience: Lack of Empathy: After accepting the long wait and finally seeing Dr. Buford, my husband and I explained our dog's condition. Her immediate, unfriendly response was, "What do you want me to do tonight?" This was shocking and demonstrated a profound lack of compassion in a crisis setting. Judgmental Communication: My dog has a known, chronic, and unique anemia condition that has been managed by three previous vets. Dr. Buford seemed visibly judgmental when reviewing her history, rudely stating that her low blood counts were "not normal" and she’d never seen a dog live with them. This attitude made us feel criticized for our dog's medical history. Aggressive Testing: Before offering meaningful recommendations, the doctor immediately suggested an approximately $750 full blood workup and urine analysis. Based on our dog's history, we didn't feel this was the best first step. We had to push back and suggested starting only with the urine analysis. Confusing and Unprofessional Communication: She asked when her last heat cycle was and we explained it had been a few years, she rudely snapped "dogs don't go through menopause". I had to explain that her visible cycles were minimal, likely due to her anemia. She expressed severe concern over a pyometra (uterus infection) which is fatal without surgery, only to admit moments later that she hadn't even looked at the dog herself. After she did look at her she said she didn't see a pyometra, but there was fluid build up. We ultimately paid around $600 for the exam, ultrasound, and urine analysis. Tragically, we had to put Lilly down the next day. I am grateful we were able to do so at our regular vet, where the staff was genuinely compassionate and kind, something we did not find at MedVet. Avoid this facility if you can.

The staff was compassionate and thorough. I would have appreciated discussion concerning medication options. I went to my own vet the next day and got liquid vs the large pills and capsules given, spending addition money.

Experiencia negativa: Worse experience possible. I called before coming out because my pet was showing signs of parvo. During the phone conversation I received great customer service and was told to come on out and a park in the rear upon arrival. Just in case the dog does have Parvo. When I arrived. I did exactly what I was instructed to do. Park in the rear and call. The woman who answered the phone was the exact same woman I dealt with before coming out and this lady had amnesia. She acted like she had no idea what i was talking about and told me. “ we would never tell anyone to come out without registering” I said ok i’m willing to register. she replies “well we can’t see you at all”. Then she hangs up on me. Don’t waste your time with this company. I literally had a sick pet who needed medical attention and these people treated me like crap. Oh and by the way my pet died. Thanks Med Vet for your horrible hospitality, it cost a life. This is an add-on to your response. I called before coming out and you guys told me to come out. Your response to my review was that there must’ve been a miscommunication. Let’s just say that there was. This is a walk-in clinic. So I don't have to call before coming out. AGAIN, I did in fact call before coming out. Plus, called upon arrival and you guys hung up on me. You’re lack of compassion for a sick animal cost a life.

Experiencia fantástica: Absolutely recommend taking your pet here. I have took my dog there twice now. Both times they had her seen almost immediately and took care of her very quickly. This last time with a very serious problem, they saved her life.

Experiencia fantástica: I brought my cat in yesterday because he was showing UTI symptoms. My boyfriend recommended MedVet Toledo And I must say I was very impressed! The staff was kind, friendly, and welcoming. Dr Brittany Kain was absolutely wonderful-she showed so much compassion not only for my cat, Zorro, but for me as well. She was knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything clearly so I could understand. I would highly recommend MedVet Toledo to anyone! Zorro is starting to feel much better!

Experiencia fantástica: My two-year-old dog was swarmed and attacked by bees from our backyard. We did not know that they had a high underground. He immediately started acting crazy, panicking, and swelled up terribly. We took him to med vet and within 45 minutes of them, giving him treatment he was acting much better. I’m so thankful that they were open and able to help my fur baby!!!!

Experiencia negativa: Didn’t like not being able to go back with my pet to see what they were actually doing.Dr. can in when we were finally seen and suggested what we should do and don’t know when the Dr. actually seen him because he was always with us and supposedly she was working on another animal

Experiencia fantástica: Service was wonderful ! Staff was wonderful, extremely helpful and kind! My dog bow ingested a box of urinary relief pills, staff was efficient and very understanding and informative! They took the time to make sure we understood his treatment and to answer any questions we had !

Experiencia negativa: Receptionist was great over the phone and told me to come out. Once I arrived the blonde haired girl, had amnesia about the phone call and shooed me away. Worse service someone with a sick pet could receive. No compassion, no empathy. Just disrespect. And my dog died. Thanks Med Vet your customer service cost a life.

Experiencia fantástica: I needed to take a my 8yr old in to remove his bandage and check to see how his foot was doing from breaking one of his nails well below the quick. My vets office was closed and I needed to get him more care. MedVet techs and MD were great with him. Glad that MedVet is here for all pet owners when we need help with our kids when our vets office is closed and we want to get them immediate help.
