Experiencia fantástica: The staff was very friendly. When you walk in your greeted instantly and to be honest they do their homework because they greet you by your pets name based on your scheduled time....I absolutely loved that. This spot is about the pet first and us handlers second lololol. All kidding aside I loved this spot and recommend it if your pet isn't feeling well.

Experiencia positiva: A bit disheartened by my experience. The wait to get my cat checked in was over 30 min which was rather frustrating bc my kids were in the car and late to school. Also, the price was increased 5% between the week I made the appt to the actual surgery day. Lol.. so I booked the surgery based on a price and was told the following week that price had changed. So obviously off putting. Surgery went well however and staff is friendly and helpful.

Experiencia fantástica: 1/5/26 Dr Taylor is so awesome. I appreciate his input regarding my power Rajah. My coworker and dear friend recommended this clinic when I was looking for a new clinic for my new pet 7 years ago. This clinic is amazing, the hours and days they work are so helpful for those who have jobs and work. If I need to bring her in I can. I don't have to have an appointment. They will work me in. The entire staff is always so very nice and want to make sure your pet is taken care of. The doctors are so very nice and knowledgeable. This is my vet and I will bring all of my pets here. I love them.

Experiencia negativa: Here is a grammatically corrected and clearer version of your review, while keeping your original meaning and tone: Very unsatisfied with the visit. I called ahead to get a quote for a dental cleaning for my small dog. The receptionist stated that I had to come in for a consultation to determine whether any teeth needed to be pulled. The doctor, a very young-looking man (possibly in his 20s), only looked at my dog’s teeth and noted that she had bad breath—which I had already explained before coming into the office. They could not determine at that time whether she actually needed any teeth pulled, yet they quoted me over $1,000 for a deep cleaning and X-rays just to see if a tooth might need to be pulled. I did not understand the purpose of the consultation since no new information was provided. I would not recommend this business. Consultation was $50 and they required a deposit.

Lyneria, after looking at your chart it looks like this was your pups first visit. We do require consults prior to surgery, especially when we haven't seen the pet before. This allows our team to assess your pup's teeth and determine if a dental is appropriate. Just like when humans go to the dentist, it's not always possible to know with 100% certainty if a tooth needs to come out before seeing xrays. If there is a tooth that looks concerning we will recommend xrays to ensure the proper steps are taken to treat the tooth. Unfortunately, dental procedures do come with a higher cost due to the length of anesthesia time and the specialty equipment that is needed for the surgery. I'm so sorry you had a negative experience, but I hope this explanation helped you understand a little better. Thank you for reaching out.

Experiencia negativa: ⭐☆☆☆☆ – If I could give zero stars, I would. The only reason this place even gets one star is because Google won’t allow zero. My experience with Long Drive Dog & Cat Hospital was one of the most frustrating and heartbreaking veterinary visits I’ve ever had. When I first called, the staff sounded friendly and confident. They told me prescriptions were “not expensive, usually $20–$60,” and that as a first-time client I’d need to leave a $50 deposit that would go toward the visit. That was the only part that turned out to be true. When I arrived, the same employees who quoted me prices over the phone suddenly acted like they had no idea what anything cost. I literally watched them answering calls and giving estimates to other customers, yet when I asked about prices, they said, “You’ll have to ask the vet.” Then came the exam. My ten-year-old dog, about 48 pounds and clearly in pain with swollen mammary glands, was made to climb onto a tall metal scale nearly four feet off the ground—no ramp, no low option, nothing to make it easier for an older, hurting dog. I had to lift her myself while she trembled. The exam table was just as bad: slick, cold metal where she could barely keep her footing. The first assistant asked a few questions and left. The veterinarian came in, gave a quick glance, said she was swollen, ignored the other glands I mentioned, and when I asked about the cost he gave a vague, dismissive answer—something like, “Someone will bring that for you.” Then he simply walked out of the room and never came back. Moments later, two completely different women—neither of whom I had met before—walked in holding a bill for over $200 for the same two antibiotics another clinic charged me about $40 total for. They also tried to add a rabies shot even after I told them she was fully vaccinated. At that point I was furious. There were three other customers in the lobby about to be called back, and I spoke loud enough for them to hear what had happened so they could think twice before trusting this place. The whole operation felt like bait-and-switch entrapment—offer low prices over the phone, take a deposit, then surprise you with inflated charges once your pet is already there. I left angry, heartbroken, and completely disillusioned. My senior dog deserved compassion and honest care, not confusion and manipulation. If you truly care about your pet’s wellbeing, stay far away from this clinic. They value profit over compassion every single time.

Mr. Butcher, we apologize for your frustration with your visit. Yes, new clients are asked to provide a $50 deposit that goes towards your appointment, meaning it covers the cost of the exam and is applied to the total cost of the exam. As far as our receptionist, they way they are able to tell the cost of the medication is by our doctors ordering the medication name, strength, and quantity. They would not have been able to tell you an exact cost unless they knew the needed information, which is determined during the appointment not before as the pet hasn't been assessed yet. We apologize that you felt baited and switched, we provide estimates with the cost after our doctor's assess and diagnose the pet so we know the treatment is appropriate. We strive to provide transparent and compassionate care 100% of the time.

Experiencia fantástica: I love taking my pets to dr. Castro she keeps them healthy and happy . Dr. Laura Badeaux was first in my pets lives and was an excellent dr. Now dr. Castro took over after . We see dr. Castro and she is excellent too. My dog is turning 11 on February. That says a lot of good about this vet clinic.

Experiencia negativa: There was a problem when the office failed to provide an estimate in advance, and I was asked to wait an hour until the doctor was available, with the delay further traumatizing my pet. The receptionist was less than accomodating given the circumstances, but the manager was nice and explained the situation. I have since changed to another veterinary service for my pets - less expensive, better office services and more helpful

Experiencia fantástica: The veterinarians here are great. I love Dr. Castro. She always takes her time to explain things, is very friendly, and really cares for the fur-babies. She performed surgery on my 16 year old chihuahua (now 17 years old) who has a heart murmur, and my sweet girl did great thanks to Dr. Castro’s care. In addition, I have never had a lengthy wait-time. I usually check in for my appointments and am in the doctor’s room within a few minutes. I love it here and will keep coming back.

Experiencia negativa: I recently brought my senior dog to this clinic after she became very sick. I called on a Thursday and was told they only take appointments — which was fine — and they were able to get her in for Friday at noon. What I didn’t expect was a $50 upfront fee just to book the appointment. I was told it would go toward the $48 visit fee, but still — that wasn’t mentioned over the phone, and it felt a bit sneaky. I was told this has been their policy for about a year. During the visit, the vet recommended full blood work because of my dog’s age — to check liver, kidney, and pancreas function. I understood the reasoning, but I was shocked when the nurse brought out an invoice for $565 just for the blood work, with an additional medications fee costing $240($800total) if I chose to treat it as an upset stomach instead. And that’s before any actual treatment. I’ve heard that the clinic was taken over by a corporate company, and that’s when the prices started going up. I already knew the previous owners had sold it — they were fair, cared about their clients, and didn’t feel like they were trying to squeeze every dollar out of you. Now? It feels more like a business than a place of care. And for the neighborhood this clinic is in, these new prices just don’t make sense. It’s completely out of step with the community. Unfortunately, I’ll be taking my pet elsewhere moving forward. I need a vet that’s both compassionate and reasonable — not one that feels like it’s been taken over by corporate profit goals.

The vet. and staff was very attentive to her, spent time feeding her, bathed and gave her a haircut to make her more presentable. Although this visit led to my decision to "aid Bella w/ her transitioning," I felt the warmth and loving kindness from the clinic. Now that Bella has been ushered across the "rainbow bridge" as of Aug. 25th 2025, it is certainly sad to think that Long Drive Dog & Cat Hospital will not be a part of my life as it had been for 15 yrs. Thank you, Long Dr. for EEEVERYTHING you all have ever done for Bella and especially @ the end of her earthly life. Thank you!!! :-(

Experiencia negativa: I called on July 22nd to see if my Chihuahua could be seen. She was not doing well. The earliest they could see her was July 25th. Afraid to miss that spot, I scheduled the appointment. On the morning of July 23rd, I received a text to confirm the appointment and I did. Within 2 hours of confirming, my fur-baby’s health started to quickly decline and I had to find a different hospital asap. She ended up getting hospitalized that day. I called Long Drive as soon as she was admitted to the hospital and told them I would not be able to make it to the appointment after all as she was not doing good and was in the hospital. They cancelled my appointment on the 23rd, but the next day on the 24th, I was charged $50. My baby passed away at the same time her July 25th appointment would’ve been at Long Drive. I wouldn’t consider this place in the future.

Experiencia negativa: Stay away if you have a pet that requires a life saving decision on the spot because unfortunately it will cost you more money to save your pets life. I wondered why there weren’t any RECENT REVIEWS on this place and NOW know why. I understand there have been staff changes because the Dr we had been seeing is no longer there but you’d think that the customer service would be the same if not better. Save yourself the headache, hassle, maybe some money and go elsewhere. I would post a picture of my receipt but don’t have it with me. The bill was over $800.00 and paying $150.00 for a bottle of Vetsulin (insulin for cat/dog) on the spot is a crime.

Experiencia negativa: My experience felt more like a sales pitch than a veterinary consultation. I came in to discuss a dental cleaning, but was immediately pressured to purchase expensive allergy shots—even after explaining that my dog is already on medication. They also recommended dental chews, despite noting that my dog has loose teeth, which seemed inappropriate. The quote for dental work was nearly double what I’ve been quoted elsewhere. Overall, something just felt off, and I left feeling more skeptical than supported. The nearest by vet did the procedure for 1/3rd the cost actually Long Drive wasn’t even transparent about how much the extraction were going to be. They wanted to charge 2000 just for a cleaning insane behavior.

Experiencia negativa: Made a reservation and wanted to cancel within 1 hr because we misunderstood the situation. Won’t allow a refund because we took their precious time slot for 1 hr! Very greedy business practices. Reply: You are greedy, simple as that. I called within the hour and you refused to cancel the booking. Who’s not reopening the time slot to potentially allow another animal to come in and receive service? Don’t pretend you are doing this for the sake of the clients.

Experiencia negativa: Overpriced and not focused on patient centeredness. I spent a lot of money here in which they only treated my cat’s symptoms and not the underlying issue. After taking her to Petcare Express they diagnosed her and she has not had a flare up since. This clinic wrote her the initial Purina food prescription and cancelled the prescription due to not bringing her into clinic for an assessment. I explained she has to be sedated for visits and asked if we could avoid this because of the risks associated with the medications (requires me to sign a waiver bc death is a risk). They stated no that they would need to assess her to renew the food prescription that she’s been on/ tolerating for 2 years… it did not make sense in terms of risk v benefits for my cat to be sedated just so I can buy her cat food.

I get there early in the morning literally the first one there and they tell me they only have a spot open at 2pm like if the place is busier than usual and it’s literally dead. Maybe make it clear that you guys like to eat breakfast in the morning and not work. Of course at the rediculous high prices they’re charging compared to other vets I wouldn’t be too worried about working either.

Experiencia positiva: Staff is friendly and professional, and the location is great. I've not always had the best experience with pricing. Vet visits are expensive, but I've taken my pets here for 15 years, and their prices have increased quite a bit. I don't know anything about inflation and vet costs, so I don't necessarily blame them, but I did just pay them $76 for cat vitamins and found out after that they are only $25 online. That's an unreasonable upcharge. Maybe things are changing over there. They very much used to be affordable. Hopefully, this is just a one-off.

Experiencia negativa: This place used to be good. But the attitudes of the techs and receptionists make it worse. They have attitudes towards customers- I don't know if they have ptsd from other customers, but just because someone brings up a concern. It doesnt mean the customer is angry. We want our pets treated right, but you all do not treat their owners right. Terrible customer experience here and it wasn't a one time thing. I have felt that way for a while here. I won't be coming back.

Experiencia fantástica: My original review was in 2017 and much has changed since that time. The practice was sold to what appears to be a corporation? I have heard that this may be happening in lots of areas?, lots of different States? I have no direct knowledge of that but indications on that could be pointing toward that. I do know hours of operation have been cut back. Many regular Vet Clinics no longer offer Saturday services which is not a positive for the working class and rescues. There are many emergency clinics that are open on the weekends and for evenings. Most of them have very qualified staff and Veterinarians. The biggest concerns on those options is on the prices charged for services. Do your homework for the area that you live in prior to needing those services. It will be time well spent when an emergency arises so that you are not caught off guard. I have a dog rescue group. It is important to me to be able to trust a Vet Clinic with the care of my newly rescued dog. I never had a problem with any of the Vets, Vet Technicians, Kennel Staff or Front Desk Staff through 2019. I had moved too far away and traveling to Houston was no longer convenient. Over the years, they helped me with hundreds of rescued dogs and my personal dogs. They had done vaccines, spays/neuters, heart worm treatments, various surgeries and other procedures like packing ears, etc... They also carried a good selection of Heart Worm and Flea/Tick Prevention. Please contact them to see what services and products they provide currently. One of my big things is that a rescued dog or one of my personal dogs is given the opportunity to get some exercise and go potty. The Kennel Staff took all dogs out numerous times a day. That is so important for any dog that is not used to being kept confined to a kennel. I am not sure that this is still the case as I am not familiar with current staff and procedures.

Experiencia fantástica: We were immediately greeted and waited less than 5 minutes before we were called back. I had two schnauzers growing up. DR. Shelby took such good care of, BJ and Bonzo, so we didn’t even question what vet we would take our new schnauzer puppy Bingo. Although we didn’t see DR. Shelby, Dr Heights was so awesome. She was very patient and really informative as we had a lot of questions. I give them a 100/10 for customer service and friendliness.

This used to be a great place to bring your pets, now it's become more about squeezing every penny out of their clientele. Some of us barely have enough to keep our heat/AC, electricity, or even food in the house. Yet they want to make your pets suffer without vital medication till you can afford to pay for the EXTREMELY expensive tests to get that medicine. They do NOT care about your pets, JUST YOUR MONEY!

Experiencia positiva: I’ve been a loyal client of Long Drive Animal Hospital for years, bringing Luna here since she was a puppy and trusting you with my previous pets as well. Dr. Castro is excellent, and Britney has always been very helpful. However, my recent experience was extremely disappointing due to one of your new staff members. Today, I called ahead to confirm I could pick up Luna’s medication closer to 5:50 PM. The receptionist, an African American woman with a low-energy, dismissive attitude, assured me it was fine. Yet when I arrived at 5:56 PM, the doors were locked, and I was met with condescending looks from the staff inside. Only one technician (i believe her name is Bianca) seemed willing to open the door so i appreciated that. When I explained that I’d spoken to the other receptionist, the Hispanic staff member with glasses informed me the computers are turned off around 5:50 PM and that no transactions could be processed. This was never mentioned during my call. Had I been informed of this policy, I wouldn’t have wasted an hour driving after work only to leave empty-handed and frustrated. This level of miscommunication and unprofessionalism is unacceptable. I expect better from a place I’ve trusted for years. Sadly, I will no longer be bringing Luna here.

Today I was pleasantly surprised and only waited 20 minutes , about what I often wait at a private vet with an appointment. The front office staff is always friendly and helpful. I met with Dr Castro for my kitty who has multiple health problems. She was patient and did not rush me through my explanation of my concerns and offered several options for treatments. I did not feel pressured to do anything I wasn't comfortable with related to either price or my ability to manage the treatments. I'm always comfortable coming to Long Drive and appreciate their concerns and care.

Experiencia negativa: EDIT: This has nothing against our vet (Dr Gallagher she is AMAZING) and everything against the way management has decided to raise prices so that they are running off LONG TIME customers. I am changing my review as we are in the process of looking for a new vet. We absolutely do not want to leave Dr Gallagher but we can’t afford this place any longer and he (manager) keeps raising the prices so much so that our pet insurance won’t even cover the full amount any longer and it is great insurance! He raised the pet exam to $45 and that is over the limit for reimbursement (mind you this is a an addition to the policy I pay for as a general policy does not cover pet exam). This vet is located in a low income area but their prices are now becoming a HIGH INCOME area. He is going to continue raising prices so that he runs everyone off from a once very BUSY vet that was very affordable and well respected. Love our Vet, she is amazing! We also use the boarding and the techs are great with our fur babies. My issue is with the front desk, there are some really efficient staff but it is inconsistent. We are also getting tired of the extremely long wait times especially now since you are closed on the weekends. We may have to look for another vet as our jobs don’t allow us to wait 2-3 hours at a time just to see a vet. Unless you can figure out a better system soon a long time client may unfortunately be leaving.

Experiencia negativa: I have been a customer of this clinic in the past and had no issues with their service, cleanliness, or pricing. Naturally, when my dog developed a skin issue, I returned to them for care. However, during my recent visit, I noticed some significant changes that have left me deeply disappointed. I’m unsure if the clinic is under new management, but the prices have increased dramatically, and I felt nickel-and-dimed for every service. I was told my dog needed allergy medication and treatment for an ear infection. The allergy medicine at the clinic was priced at over $500, whereas purchasing the same prescription through Chewy would have cost me $238. When I requested a prescription to take the more affordable route, I was informed that there would be a $20 charge just to write the prescription, which I found unreasonable. Additionally, they told me I would have to pay another $20 fee if I wanted a prescription for the ear infection medication as well. It’s worth noting that in most other clinics and even human doctors’ offices, multiple prescriptions are typically written on one form. Here, I was told each prescription required a separate fee. I ended up not purchasing the medications from this clinic nor requesting the prescriptions. Instead, I took my paperwork to Thrive Pet Clinic, where they kindly approved the prescription from Chewy without any additional fees, despite the fact that I had not made an appointment with them. The entire process was handled over the phone and via email, and I didn’t have to spend any extra money. I will have to return to this clinic for my dog’s bloodwork results, but after that, I won’t be coming back. Unfortunately, the excessive fees and pricing have made it impossible for me to continue using their services.

Experiencia negativa: More concerned with profits than the actual health of our pets. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years with 3 pets. Brought in my newest dog for a simple skin irritation and the doctor found the issue but tried to sneak in an extra $400 worth of tests “just to be on the safe side”. After I asked for just the new prescription and no tests, she begrudgingly removed a few and tried again to add some unnecessary testing which I refused. What would’ve been a $550 visit quickly came down to $150. Today I tried getting an updated prescription for HW meds after our pup got her check up at the shelter. During the previous visit the doctor only agreed to a 3 month refill because the shelter needed to check her again in 3 months. Fine. Fast forward 3 months after a new HW test and today they refused to update her script without first getting another consultation so they could squeeze some more money out of me. Taking my business and my pets elsewhere from now on.

Experiencia positiva: Dr. Gallagher has been quite informative about my old lady corg who's dealing with arthritis. She's quite knowledgeable about Neuro characteristics and she was also the one who referred us to a specialist once my baby started swaying alot and quickly losing muscle mass on her hind legs. The front office staff seems subpar considering the valuable vets on staff at Long Drive. Unfortunately, this will most likely be my last visit because there's limited availability (M-F 8am-6pm only) that I was hoping wouldn't become an issue for my baby to receive her Librella meds monthly. The doctors on staff leave before closing time (6pm) and will not care to wait even if youve made them aware ahead of time during consultations that we would arrive a little later than usual by 10 minutes tops bc of Houston traffic. We were loyal customers to this facility and have always made the extra effort to travel the 30+ minutes; I felt this would've at least been noted on the chart to begin with. I will have to seek care elsewhere because my elderly handicapped dog requires some ease of any pain for her arthritis. I'm grateful her DM diagnosis hasn't hindered her severely until this point and will hope to find care closer to our home.

Experiencia negativa: I recently took my cat here due to prolonged diarrhea, and I was devastated to leave with a bill nearing $900. It's bewildering how veterinary clinics like this one operate under the guise of medical care while exploiting pet owners' emotions for profit. Despite my cat's simple condition, the vet immediately pushed for numerous "optional" tests and procedures—X-rays, ultrasounds, blood work, medications—none of which were truly necessary. It's clear these are designed to guilt conscientious pet owners into spending more money and I played right into it. Had I waited a couple more days, I could have avoided this exorbitant expense. The medications they sent me home with remain unused, further highlighting their priority to itemize services to the fullest extent. Avoid this place if you want honest, compassionate care for your pet or ask yourself, do I really need any of this? Because they won't offer any suggestions, she barely even probed his belly. The technicians are guilty of this too. They spent more time accumulating services than actually looking at him. $900.00 because of diarrhea! I wonder what service he would have actually received had I said no to all of it. One day I will find a decent veterinarian who actually values their customers and stick with them until then, the search continues.

Experiencia fantástica: First of all and the most important thing, the people in charge of the pets' health in this clinic love animals. The place is very clean. The staff is friendly and efficient from the moment you make your appointment until the end of the consultation. I highly recommend it.

Experiencia negativa: The current people that own this veterinarian service Have changed dramatically over the years. I have been going to this vet for over twenty five years and now the new owners have arrived and everything has changed.. And I must say not for the better. They're pricing is higher they're hours are shorter. And to long time customers they have a very bad attitude Towards them. There was an emergent issue And we were refused service because it was close to closing time. Sadly we will not be returning anytime soon.

Experiencia fantástica: We've been coming to Long Drive Dog & Cat Hospital for more than 20 years! While we miss Dr. Shelby, we LOVE Dr. Castro. She is so thorough and caring. The front counter is efficient and friendly as are the techs. Highly recommend Long Drive to anyone!

Experiencia fantástica: This place gives the best customer service and experience ever. Everyone is incredibly friendly, kind, patient and supportive, they will explain everything and go through everything with you. Prices are fair. The medication given to my fur baby made him feel better right away. I definitely recommend this place. Will be coming back for future services.

Experiencia fantástica: I was a walk in, they got me in as soon as a doctor showed in (8:00 doctors come in). Front Desk Ladies and E. Gallagher, DVM were welcoming and kind. Doctor ensured my dog was comfortable. Ive been here for yearly vax/ check up, emergency visits for probably 5 or 6 years. Never had a problem.

Experiencia negativa: I had an appointment at this vet office and spent hundreds of dollars on treatment. Due to a miscommunication from their front office, I was not notified that my follow-up appointment, which I had scheduled and confirmed verbally, was pushed earlier in the week. When I showed up, the front office staff had a nasty attitude, refused to acknowledge their mistake, and told me I would have to pay for a full vet visit instead of the free follow-up I was supposed to have. I am extremely disappointed and do not recommend this vet office at all.

Experiencia negativa: I was really disappointed on today’s visit. I registered my two pets & had a seat to wait to be called back for vaccinations only. She first said it would be a two hour wait. I told the receptionist that I would wait then like 30 minutes later, she asked me to wait in the vehicles because my dogs were to noisy. I really got upset because they are dogs & it’s a vet clinic. It’s really hard to keep your dogs quiet when that is their first instinct. One of my dogs was the one barking at the new pets coming in or out of the clinic. I have spent thousands of dollars to this clinic & I had never felt so humiliated like they made me feel today when they asked me to step out and wait in my vehicle until they were to call me. I asked for copy of the shot record & left. I will take them to a different clinic.

Experiencia negativa: My family has been using this vet for years. In the beginning their service was amazing, the people were friendly, and the vets were caring. I recently went back with my dog and they were horrible, they are all about sucking money out of you with no results or actual help. The vet that we worked with was emotionless and rude. We asked if there was anyway to get assistance with our dog and the vet recommended surrendering the dog. This place has declined tremendously. I would not suggest this place to anyone for their fur baby. You will spend a large amount of money, deal with rude staff and no results.

Experiencia fantástica: The whole clinic staff are wonderful. Dr. Taylor is very caring and takes his time explaining everything. I am so glad I found him. My dog’s health has improved so much since we started seeing him. I cannot forget the front office ladies they are super helpful and nice.
