AV Veterinary Center: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Great staff and love the flexibility of their hours. They handle my very difficult dog very well. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Staff is amazing! Compassionate and professional. They never rush you when you call with questions, and they give you their undivided attention to help as best as they can to get you the answers and help you and your pet need. This was our first experience with them. And we feel very confident with Dr. Eric Wright, who is a diplomate veterinarian in orthopedic surgery.
Fantastic experience: Great care and suggestions on dog braces
Fantastic experience: Lady got a bath, nails clipped and anal gland expressed.
Fantastic experience: One of the few vets that will see your pet late They staff was all kind. Answered all our questions gave the best care to our pet. Definitely will be returning whenever it’s needed. Meds and check up were very reasonably priced as well.
Fantastic experience: Very great experience for both my cats! The process was smooth and I was informed every step of the way. Love coming here for my pets!
Thank you so much Lenon For you five star reply.
Negative experience: If I could give this establishment 0 stars, I absolutely would. My dog suffered a severe laceration on her paw today. Being it is Sunday, I went here, one of the closest local vets that I knew provided emergency care. Upon arrival, I saw an empty lobby and 2 cars in the parking lot. I quickly called to ensure my dog could be seen and was surprised to hear the lobby was at max capacity and was referred to another vet across town. In this phone call alone, no one asked any information about my dog, her injury, her condition, etc. Hours passed and I had called again as every other vet in town was either closed or had too many patients. I was told to try coming in around 4pm with little to no guarantee we would even be seen. Once again, myself and my injured dog made our way to this establishment, only to be told they have had 0 room for walk ins all day and we had to try again another day. No questions, no concern, and quite frankly 0 compassion for my pet whom I was trying to treat as soon as possible. Fast forward to now, my dog has since needed emergency surgery from another veterinarian and could have suffered permanent damage to her paw if she was not seen sooner. The fact that this hospital asked 0 questions about my dogs condition, especially given that they are an 'emergency hospital' is truly astounding to me. We were turned around a total of 3 times in the span of one day. For this reason, I refuse to give this establishment any of my money. For those that truly care about your pets, please reconsider taking them here and don't be afraid to explore other more compassionate options in our area. Do better AV Veterinary Center.
We are truly sorry to hear about your dog’s injury and the stress you experienced while trying to find care. We understand how frightening and frustrating it is to have an injured pet, especially on a weekend, and we’re relieved to hear your dog ultimately received the surgery she needed.
As an emergency and referral hospital, our ability to accept new patients is based on the number of critical cases already being treated in the back of the hospital—not the appearance of the lobby or parking lot. At times, our treatment area and surgical team are at full capacity managing hospitalized and surgical patients, even if the front of the hospital appears quiet.
When we know we cannot safely provide timely care, we make the difficult decision to pause intake and refer clients to other local veterinary hospitals that may be able to help sooner. In those situations, we do not proceed with a full medical history or triage, as it would raise expectations and delay owners from seeking care elsewhere when we are unable to treat their pet. Our intent is never to dismiss a pet’s condition, but rather to avoid wasting valuable time when immediate care is needed and we are at capacity.
We recognize how this process can feel impersonal, and we sincerely regret that your experience came across as lacking compassion—that is never our goal. Feedback like yours is important, and we will continue to review how we communicate during high-volume emergency situations.
We wish your dog a smooth recovery and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
Fantastic experience: Came to get a vaccine for my puppy and despite how busy they were, the front desk staff and vet techs provided friendly and speedy service! Would definitely come back again
Sorry to hear that and thank you for your valuable feedback.
Fantastic experience: The office is amazing inside very clean and great decor. The staff are all very professional. I went there with my new English Bulldog as he was having issues with his stool. I was taken care of at a very reasonable price, but most importantly my puppy is much better.
Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that you had a positive experience at our office. Maintaining a clean and inviting environment for our clients and their pets is important to us, and we're glad you appreciated the great decor and cleanliness.
Our dedicated staff takes pride in providing professional and compassionate care to every furry patient. We're thrilled that we were able to address your English Bulldog's stool issues and that your puppy is feeling much better now. Your pup's health and well-being are always our top priorities.
We're also pleased to hear that you found our prices reasonable. We strive to offer fair and transparent pricing to ensure our services are accessible to all pet owners.
Thank you for entrusting us with the care of your new English Bulldog and for taking the time to share your positive experience. If you have any further questions or need assistance in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out. We look forward to serving you and your furry friend again!
Best regards, AV Veterinary Center
Fantastic experience: Av Vet save my 2 years English bulldog’s life he Swallowed A small Christmas ornament and the staff was Professional and speedy with service and helping my little guy make it. I can’t thank this places enough
Nice to hear that you both dogs are in good condition, We always ready to serve our vet services. By the way thank you so much Andrea for your lovely feedback.
Fantastic experience: Leslie was very professional aswell as informative on the procedure being done on my dog.
Thank you so much for the feedback, Valencia. Leslie will definitely be happy after seeing this kind of feedback.
Negative experience: I’m really disappointed with the way things were handled at this vet. When I first brought my dog in about a year ago, she was in terrible shape… bleeding, swollen, with a full-body rash. She’s extremely people-aggressive and has to be medicated and fully sedated for any exam, but that first visit actually went great. They sedated her, checked everything thoroughly, diagnosed allergies, and prescribed an allergy medication that ended up working amazingly well. It is expensive, but we budgeted for it because we love our dog and it keeps her healthy. Fast-forward to now: her yearly refill through Chewy was denied with no explanation. I called, and they told me the doctor suddenly wanted to see her in person again, even though I was previously told I would NOT have to bring her back in unless something was wrong. Nothing is wrong. She only has mild redness because she’s out of her medication, which is why I was trying to get it refilled before it got bad again. I explained multiple times that bringing her in is extremely difficult and expensive because she must be drugged beforehand and sedated once she’s there. It costs $200–$300 just for the visit and sedation, plus the $300 medication. Right before the holidays, that’s just not possible. All I was asking for was enough medication(that I would pay for) to get her through to January, when I could schedule the full visit they wanted. I was told to text photos of my dog to a hospital number so the doctor could review her condition. I did that immediately. Then… nothing. No call. No follow-up. No email. I reached out several more times and was basically ghosted for over a week while my dog ran out of medication. When someone finally called back, they said the doctor wouldn’t help at all until I brought her in, despite originally telling me I wouldn’t have to do that again. There’s no new issue to examine, no rash, no infection. Just a routine refill. When I tried to schedule the January appointment, the times they offered didn’t work, and then they suggested I “just do a walk-in,” which is impossible for a dog who requires pre-medication and full sedation. It’s not a simple, pop-in type of appointment. At that point I realized I had no choice but to find a new vet. It’s incredibly frustrating to be left without medication for a dog who clearly needs it, especially after I followed every instruction they gave me calling, emailing twice, texting photos, and trying to work around their schedule. I understand policy and liability. What I don’t understand is the lack of communication, the mixed messages, and the refusal to provide even a temporary refill to keep my dog stable until a full visit could be arranged. Which I was willing to do (even though it felt like a way just to get more money out of me). I’m switching to a new vet who will actually communicate and take my dog’s special needs seriously.
Fantastic experience: The staff is very appreciative and the Dr explains everything in great detail.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Wright and all of the staff have always been so kind and caring with my babies and family. We lost our chihuahua Tink last year. They were so respectful and understanding of our wishes and pain. They took wonderful care of her and presented us with a beautiful box with her ashes along with other keepsakes they had made for us. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience at AV Veterinary Center. I brought in my female Frenchie who was very sick with aspiration pneumonia. They admitted her right away and kept her in the hospital on oxygen and supportive care. Thanks to their amazing team, my baby is feeling so much better and is now home recovering. I can’t thank AV Veterinary Center enough—they were there for us when my regular vet wasn’t. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: I listened to your u tube video on Lymphangiectasia and wanted to say thank you so much for an wonderful presentation. I was incredible helpful.
Fantastic experience: Love AV will be going back Ms.Amber is very wonderful very sweet and caring love that . Love AV overall very clean environment and helpful.
Fantastic experience: One of the best animal hospitals. Amber was amazing and very professional. 10/10 recommend.
Negative experience: took my dog in for urgent care, and Dr. Wright told me he couldn’t see her until later that night because he was in surgery. I agreed to leave her overnight after being told I would receive updates the next morning. Unfortunately, I never got any. When I finally called around noon the next day, I was told that no surgery or treatment had been done yet, even though my dog had been in pain for hours. When I brought her back a few days later because her staples were coming undone, I was told that there was “nothing they could do” because she might have an infection yet they still opened her wound and sold me medication to sedate her instead of treating the actual problem. I later took her to another veterinarian, who found that her wound was never properly cleaned, she had dead tissue, infection, and unnecessary staples in areas that didn’t need them. The new vet also said her drains were incorrectly placed, which caused her even more complications. I spent over $3,000 at AV Veterinary Center and was left with a dog in worse condition than when she first went in. She’s now been in and out of hospitals because of their mistakes. This clinic completely failed my dog. The lack of care, professionalism, and compassion was unbelievable. I hope sharing this helps prevent other families from going through the same heartbreak.
Negative experience: Run as far as you can from this place !! They are just money hungry people and will not treat your fur babies properly!! My poor pup was treated here for a cut on her chest and we thought everything was okay. As the days went by we realized she wasn’t doing well and took her back just to be told that they couldn’t help her because she was now infected. We then took her to a different vet who informed us that the dead tissue should have been removed from the first visit and that they put way too many stitches that were unnecessary. Thank goodness we found a different vet who was able to fix the mistakes this place made to our poor pup. Be careful everyone they will take advantage.
Negative experience: Warning: Please think twice before trusting AV Veterinary Center or Dr. E. Russel Wright !! Run away from this place if you truly care about your fur baby !!! I brought my dog to AV Veterinary Center on October 24, 2025, for urgent medical help. Dr. Wright told me he was in surgery and couldn’t see my dog until later that night. I agreed to let my dog stay overnight after he assured me that his staff would give me updates in the morning. By noon the next day, I still hadn’t received a single update and when I finally called, I was told her surgery hadn’t even been done yet. My poor dog had been left untreated and in pain for over 24 hours. When I finally brought her back a few days later because her staples were coming undone, Dr. Wright claimed there was nothing he could do because she “might have an infection” yet he still proceeded to open her up again and sell me medication just to keep her sedated. Out of frustration and concern, I took my dog to another veterinary hospital, where I learned that her wounds had never been properly cleaned, she had dead tissue and infection, unnecessary staples, and drains placed in the wrong areas. The new vet told me this was clear malpractice and neglect. We spent a handful for treatment that made my dog worse and caused her unnecessary suffering. Since then, she’s been in and out of hospitals because of Dr. Wright’s negligence. This entire experience has been heartbreaking and has destroyed my trust in this clinic. Please be cautious before bringing your pet here my family and I are now dealing with the emotional and financial consequences of their poor care.
Fantastic experience: My cat was recently in the hospital here for several days with a urinary blockage. The staff here were very kind to my pet and to me. They understood my stress levels and went above and beyond to make me feel that my pet was safe and in good hands. They answered all my questions with a kind and understanding heart. I highly recommend them. My only unsatisfactory thing is the price it cost me to have him there for so long.
Negative experience: Unfortunately I sat in a room for two hours waiting to put my dog to sleep. 6pm -8pm. The staff was kind but this was unprofessional. My dog wabbles, falls and can’t hold his head straight. 3 surgeries scheduled and they close at 10 so I was dismissed. Why did it take 2 hrs to tell me this? Maybe my bill wasn’t high enough?
Negative experience: I had a bad experience with my dog in April at AV Veterinario Center. They were unable to provide a diagnosis, and due to poor practice when feeding her through a tube, she suffered aspiration. I was never given any explanation. I do not recommend this place.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful experience! The staff was kind and caring, and Dr. Wright took amazing care of my pet. Highly recommend this clinic!
Fantastic experience: My cat Mystery wasn't feeling well and I called to see if I could do a walk in and they said yes. I was so relieved. They were all so friendly and professional. Loved the Vetinary that was working today. Definitely will recommend to anyone. Thank you to the staff and Vetinary that was working today.
Negative experience: This used to be an insight vet when the older lady vet ran this operation. Now, the quality of care is unmemorable. I had to call for my chewy order numerous time. I didnt recieve the annual vet health check reminder like I used to. Lastly, I got my dog vacccinated here and they didn't give him the vacccination for leptospirosis. The front desk is superficial, it is apparent that they don't have pets and don't care. There used to be a lady at the front desk who really cared. My guess is they replaced her with women who look like plactic surgery models. Becareful!
Negative experience: A year ago I brought my dog corky to that and he died at the door. Today I brought my dog misty and foreign emergency and number one,They don't open till twelve thirty which is crappy, 2) she told me the doctor broke down on the freeway. When you make that much money you shouldn't have a car that breaks down.3) while I was waiting there, I guess somebody walked in that they used to work with and it turned into hugs and kisses. And let me show you around the shop a big show and tell. I don't understand why they call themselves an Emergency the veterinary clinic when you get there and have to wait 2 hours or wait for the Doctor to get there. Such a shame because we need a good vet clinic up here that we can trust our fur babies with , and this one is not it horrible. It did not give me an option to leave NO stars. don't go here. My name is kai jacobsen. I left right after I filled out the paperwork. I also think that they should have a community water bowl for all the dogs in the lobby.
Negative experience: I brought my dog in for a routine check up yesterday in which they gave him a sedative to calm him down. My dog went into cardiac arrest and died at the clinic. My dog was 5 years old and very healthy. He started going to this clinic since he was a puppy at 8 weeks old. I am devastated! How can the very ones who are supposed to care for your loved one be responsible for their death. They weren’t even compassionate at this traumatic time. I don’t recommend entrusting your fur babies to this clinic.
Negative experience: Lousy they just all about money and they don’t care how you have to get it. If you gotta go cut off your hand they just want money. They’re sickening.
Hi Cherrie,
We’ve checked our records and don’t have a client by your name, so we’re guessing this might be a case of mistaken identity—or maybe a very creative writing exercise?
Just to clarify: we never ask anyone to cut off a hand to pay for vet care. We’re a veterinary clinic, not a medieval debt collector.
If you do have a genuine concern, feel free to reach out directly—we’re happy to help. Otherwise, we kindly ask that inaccurate reviews be removed so we can focus on caring for real pets and their humans.

Fantastic experience: Literally the best place to bring your pet. My baby was attacked by another dog and they took her right in. Felt comfort from the second I walked in u til the moment I left. I am being all my pets here from now on
Negative experience: My cat has been seen by multiple doctors at this location. They charged me around 900 within two weeks to find out what's going on with my cat. I took her in originally for her eyes and they did an ear cleaning instead charged me close to 300 for the visit. I come back and complain about the female doctor because she made it seem like my cat was fine when in fact her situation got only worse.i come back to see another doctor who prescribes her medication without any testing which doesn't work and when I went back three days ago they charged me 395 for 3 tests and a medical exam plus they wanted to charge another 500 for more testing plus an additional 200 for supplements when instead of actually testing to find out what's going on first before giving my cat medicine.
Fantastic experience: Expensive but worth it. They didn't give up on my heeler. He's now at home recovering. I'll taking all my dogs here.
Positive experience: I was going to take my dog here for emergency service from Tehachapi, but unfortunately on the drive down to Lancaster he didn't make it. Ended up going through with cremation without price checking other places. Everyone is telling me I overpayed, but it's hard to argue about paying whatever for your best friend. The nose print is very cute and paw print as well. I cried when I looked at both. The packaging was sweet and considerate.
Hi Justin,
First and foremost, we are truly sorry for your loss. Losing a beloved companion is heartbreaking, and we know how difficult that drive must have been. While we’re saddened your pup didn’t make it to us in time for emergency care, we’re honored to have been entrusted with his aftercare.
Thank you for your kind words about the paw and nose prints we’re glad they brought you a little comfort during such a painful time. Our team puts great care into those small details to honor the bond between pets and their families.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever need anything. We’re sending you strength and healing during this time.
With heartfelt sympathy,
The AV Veterinary Center Team
Negative experience: Remember that time that I checked in and you forgot about my cat? Oh, then you still tried to charge me money when I said I was leaving after an hour of watching you take other pets in. I’m glad I just left. You’re garbage. My cat is dead now.
Fantastic experience: So I had an urgent issue with my dog, but I wouldn't call it a full-blown emergency. They had an option on their automated phone system that let's you talk to someone for advice. I explained my issue, and they were SUPER helpful with: what I should do, what I should look for, and what to expect. They let me know the emergency fee (for real emergencies) was $750, but my concern was not really at that level yet. (This fee is typical for animal ER stuff). This was VERY reassuring and VERY helpful! I took their advice, and so far, my baby is doing well. UPDATE: My baby was fine, and I freaked out over nothing. Thank you, AV Veterinary Center!
Fantastic experience: They always take such good care of my fur babies! I can tell they are caring behind closed doors as well because my big ol nervous mastiff goes with them without any issues. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: They are very nice nice the doctor is very good came out and explain. To me about my dog and the safest way. To go this is a good place i recommend it.
Thank you Randy!!
Negative experience: Dr Hasan Albasan misdiagnosed my pup with cancer and recommended me to put him down. If it wasn't for getting a second opinion by a professional veterinarian who know what he's doing my pup wouldn't be with me right now. It's extremely upsetting he caused a lot of emotional and psychological stress on myself and family AND overpriced the services. He robbed me of $800 and I got a MISDIAGNOSIS. Avoid this place at all costs unless YOU WANT TO BE A VICTIM OF MEDICAL MALPRACTICE.
Fantastic experience: My dog ate a cbd gummy. And I took him over right away. The office staff was so friendly and helpful! She checked out what he ate and gave me details what to expect. And then didn’t even charge me!!! I will be going in and buying lunch!!!
Fantastic experience: Great Vet. They take such good care of my Charlie who has a few medical issues. Dr Wright and Dr Harris are wonderful. The staff is also great too.
Fantastic experience: Was the best most caring visit I've ever had. This is how comfy my dog was while waiting.
Fantastic experience: We love and trust this place. They don’t upsell you and they treat all our pets like royalty.the doctors and staff are very kind, patient, polite and diligent
Fantastic experience: Luna needed a laceration surgery and no Veterinarian in Ridgecrest could see her for weeks. You guys were amazing and fit her in same day! Thank you so much for taking care of my girl!
Fantastic experience: Had an emergency with my pet passing away. Called them at late hours, and they were very understanding. They accommodated my needs with the utmost professionalism and understanding. My first time seeking their help and I was not disappointed. I am definitely staying with them for my future pet needs.
Fantastic experience: The care and attention that my fur baby received at AV Vet Center was extraordinary. I felt safe leaving him in their care over night. My baby is now home and rehabilitated. The place is clean and welcoming. I recommend this place 100 %
Fantastic experience: Best experience I've had at a Vet. Jenny was very helpful and friendly. Dr. Wright did a fabulous job and they both made us feel like family.
Negative experience: Lost my pup July 5. Went to this clinic on the 4th knowing it was a holiday. Staff was very indifferent and I was made to feel they were trying to get rid of me. Told to come back in three hours and to call first. I asked if i just stayed they would be able to see me eventually, right? Very evasive and no concern. The only reason I was there was dire concern for my dog as I had no idea what was wrong with her. So I called at the directed time and they told me to come in. When i got there I was told the doctor decided not to take any more patients! I asked if they were kidding? No concern at all that I had wasted this time all the while my pup was going downhill as i am dragging her in and out of the car. Lost my baby the following day and Dr. Biggerstaff's(who was recently killed around this time in a horrible accident) compassionate staff took us immediately but it was too late. In hindsight i should have asked to speak to the doctor directly. But i was shocked and had to find a way to help my pup. Had to do something as this has been eating me up and I hope this may alert others to the possibility of attempting to procure medical assistance and being met with disdain.
Negative experience: I'm a senior citizen living on a fixed Social Security income. Brought my 14 mo. old dog in with a injury to front paw. Basically they didn't do their job right the first time! I can't afford to have my dog treated properly now! Very upset... They check it out and removed some foxtails. The dog was given an long lasting antibiotic shot and they bandaged up the paw. Told me to return about a week later to see how it was healing and to change the dressing. I returned with a appointment to change the dressing and return home. BUT the vet said they needed to sedate him and remove another fox tail they missed. Problem is they should have done this the first time which cost almost $375. Now they want to do it again under sedation (over $400 more). When I asked why the didn't sedate him the first time the reply was "it was a different vet". Personally this should not matter it's the same Clinic! The first vet should have sedated my dog when he tried to tend to him. That's why he did a bad job removing the foxtails. The dog will not let anyone touch his paw, he should have been sedated and all the foxtails removed on the first visit, that's why I went to a vet!!!
Fantastic experience: The largest vet clinic I have ever visited. It is my first time in an animal hospital that is open Monday through Sunday. They took care of my senior dog and I was able to schedule an appointment immediately. Their prices are higher, so make sure you come prepared. They gave you an estimate before they do anything. The staff were very helpful.
Fantastic experience: My dog could not put any weight on his back foot... was uncertain of the cause, so off to AV Vet Center who treated him with kindness and care. With the correct medication, he was back chasing his ball the next day!
Negative experience: I have been to this vet a few times in the past for the care of my cats, Gato and Thanos, and my 1 y/o husky, Lady. My husband and I have also attempted to bring my other cat, Luna, who was in respiratory distress, and she was turned away because they “are not an emergency facility, and there is no veterinarian on site after hours”; yet on Yelp and their website page, they claim to provide trauma and emergency services. Luna passed away. Last Monday 6/3, we took my beloved baby girl, Lady, to this vet for vomiting x1day. They did bloodwork and X-rays which showed that she swallowed a nail. Dr. Wright recommended an enterectomy/exploratory surgery to remove said nail and suggested a spay since Lady was already under anesthesia. According to them, the surgery went well and she was doing well up until the next morning, Lady started vomiting dark blood, labored breathing, and fever. By this time, Dr. Harris told us they would keep her for observation and give her supplemental oxygen in an enclosed area. The following days, they continued antibiotics, pain medication, anti nausea medications, IV fluids, and supplemental oxygen. On 6/6, they gave her anti inflammatory and antihistamine medications for her neck swelling, and supplemental oxygen since she was still having labored breathing. She stayed at their facility until 6/7 Friday when they repeated X-rays and found fluid lining her lungs. They recommended fluid removal (thoracentesis) so they removed 500ml, she still had labored breathing throughout the day and was still dependent on supplemental oxygen. They did a second thoracentesis, removing 150 later that day. They said she was breathing better and was weaned off oxygen, they said she’s okay to discharge and go home. At approx 10pm we brought Lady home, about 20 min later, I noticed her tongue was blue, along with labored breathing. We immediately got in the car to go back to the vet, but our Lady died in our Subaru’s trunk, alone, scared, and in severe respiratory distress. I don’t know why they would discharge my dog if, clearly, she was not stable to go home since she died 40 min after discharge. I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t keep her one extra night to observe her, especially after two procedures where airway and breathing are affected. Even more so because we expressed that her safety and wellbeing are our priority, not the cost - what’s ANOTHER night at this point? I can’t help but feel that they were negligent and irresponsible for discharging her unsafely. Maybe they purposely discharged her so she would die out of their care/facility. I would’ve made her comfortable at home and held her until her last moment if I knew that was their plan. Losing Lady that night was, without a doubt, the greatest pain of my life and I miss her every minute of each day. Another pet parent in the lobby told us that we could talk to the staff about a cash price; he mentioned that he was able to get almost half off of his bill. A week later, after various requests to speak with Robert or Lilian about the bill, Robert gave us a hilarious 5% discount. They literally don’t care about you or your pet.
Fantastic experience: This place saved my our dog Petrie! Our little 9 lb was attacked by another dog. There was no place open up here at the time so we rushed to Pasadena to the closest 24hr emergency vet center. They charged us $1400 to tell us that she should be put down. They said surgery would start out at $20,000 and she still probably won't make it. We decided to bring her home but requested pain meds to help her be more comfortable. They said since she was leaving against medical advice that they could not do that. She was still with us the next morning so we took her to this wonderful place. They started surgery. She had a kidney, part of her spleen and some of her cartilage ribs removed. She also had to have a blood transfusion. She is now doing great! And it was no where near the price we were quoted in pasada This was almost a year ago and I still think about how awesome this place is. Thank you to the staff at AV Veterinary Animal Center! God bless you!!
Fantastic experience: Great experience with accommodating staff. I would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting excellent care for your babies. I saw Dr. Harris who was very kind and listened to what I had to say. She was also easy to get ahold of through her staff if she wasn’t available. All my questions were always answered in a timely manner. I’m happy to have a trusted placed to take my furry family members.
Fantastic experience: Did an amazing job with my Frenchies nares, palate and neuter, quickly addressed my concerns with confidence! My babies nose looks amazing, and he breaths so much better! I called around, and a lot of the responses from other vets in the area just made me feel uneasy ( including my go to vet) a lot did not specialize in this type of procedure, or I just didn't feel comfortable, but when I emailed followed up by a phone call, I knew this was going to the place I took my baby. They do accept scratch pay, and care credit as well. I'm so pleased I chose AV Veterinary Center. Oh! And! So I didn't have to miss a day of work, they kept my boy overnight and said he would be ready by 2 pm the following day, but I didn't get out of work till 8 pm, they said no problem, don't miss work, come when your off...we won't charge you.
Fantastic experience: My boyfriend’s family only comes to this location whenever their own pets are feeling unwell or strays that have been injured infront of their home. Excellent prices & care towards animals. Wished they were located closer to the valley
Fantastic experience: Yesterday was a very hard day for my family. Our beloved dog needed to cross over the rainbow bridge, which was unexpected even at 14 years old. I couldn't be happier with the care, thoughtfulness, empathy, and patience we received. Everyone at AV Vet couldn't have been any better. I was originally looking for someone to come to our house, but that was impossible on a Sunday and in our area. We had a nice private room, and we got to sit her comfortably on the floor where she was surrounded by family. It was very peaceful. Instead of being on a cold table. Thank you, AV Vet for making this difficult time as easy as possible for us.
Fantastic experience: The facility is very clean, and staff are very welcoming and helpful. There were a lot of very kind people working here. I’ve never had personal experience with a blocked cat and they have done a lot to help accommodate my animals needs and to help me connect with some resources. The surgeon doctor we had (I believe, Dr. Wright, and I hope not to be misremembering) was very kind, and the procedure went smoothly healed very well. As anyone would be, I was incredibly stressed through all of this predicament.. but I would like them to know that their help was immensely appreciated even if I didn’t express it appropriately. I can be a difficult person sometimes under stress, and go back and fourth on decisions- which is a personal flaw and not on the staff. The biggest concern I have is the lack of payment options and not knowing of specific fees needing to be paid on the spot without knowing in advance for follow ups. This may not be an issue for everyone, and I really didn’t know what I was getting into with this all and it may be something I wasn’t aware of however, and may be common practice I have no idea. This is only the second time I’ve experienced an actual emergency situation with an animal (knock on wood), but I’m definitely taking it as a lesson and I will be looking into pet insurances to safeguard my family’s animals in the case of anything unexpected in the future. I would really like to thank everyone who was involved in helping this kitty in any way.
Fantastic experience: I found this vet by them being the only vet that was open when I unexpectedly lost my chihuahua, the overnight staff was very friendly and supportive to us to take care of her cremation. They also were supportive when I had to take my German shepherd to have him put down. This will be the only vet I will use for my pets needs. Currently they are taking care of my husky and Rottweiler. I am so grateful to have found them and would recommend them to anyone if you have pets. The staff is very friendly and the office is always clean. Thank you av veterinary center for everything you do!
Negative experience: Called in advance and was told they could see my dog immediately. When we arrived, the tech said it was a 2-3 hour wait. They looked at him through the window and referred us to their sister clinic that could see us right away in Valencia. We arrived at the other clinic for them to tell us it’s a 2-4 hour wait. Absolutely ridiculous. Take your fur babies somewhere they will be treated with love, anywhere but here.
Fantastic experience: Thank you for taking care of our dog. from the front desk, nurse and doctor we felt confident that we made the right decision in taking him to this facility. Everyone was great and put us at ease when we were stressed out.
Fantastic experience: The ladies in this office are so kind and went out of their way to make us feel loved during the loss of our dog Rockie. Thank you so much your kindness goes a long way. Highly recommended
Positive experience: I took my cat here and they saw him right away which was nice. The vet techs were pretty nice and did their best to answer my questions but the vet was very short with me and kept cutting me off when I tried to ask questions. He also was being a condescending with his answers and was making passive aggressive comments. I still don’t really know what is wrong with my cat. All they would tell me is his kidneys are bad and he has a bacteria infection and couldn’t tell me what his chances were or if it is worth it to put him through the pain of treatment. I ended up being there for 5 hours and was sent home with stuff to try to give him a shot although I can’t say I’m hopeful. The vet techs showed me how to administer his IVs and tried to do their best to help. Altogether I would not use this vet again and will go else where if I ever need to use an emergency vet solely because the veterinarian was so difficult to deal with and I left still not feeling like I knew what was going on with my cat or where to even go from here. I plan on taking my cat to a different vet in a couple of days.
Fantastic experience: Thank you for all the reception, and Surgeon for saving our little Husky Nova. She ingested 2 toys, they took a bit to see her the previous night but we got her in the next morning. The surgery would have costed 6k at the highest, and they were able to induce vomiting to get the toys out with surgery. We explained the situation of my father’s cancer, and my own financial situation- and they helped us as much as they could with absolute kindness and respect. Thank you to the entire team and Dr. Dave for helping and saving my young puppy. She’s still a little under the weather and getting better slowly, but we greatly appreciate all the help given! I know it’s something you guys do every day, but you guys are her hero!
Fantastic experience: My dog was injured, it was probably from play fighting with his dog brother. his dew claw was broken and bleeding so we needed a vet hospital right away, it was our first visit there and they took very great care of my dog. Nice and knowledgeable veterinarian and vet assistant. My dog was discharged with a bandaged paw, instructions, and antibiotics.
Fantastic experience: Other than the extreme price I had to pay they were awesome! I figured it would be high prices already because it was an emergency. They took care of our fur baby! They cared for him and stayed in contact daily at least twice a day. And even sent me pictures of our fur baby. Overall great experience.
Fantastic experience: We took our 2 Chihuahuas in on a walk-in for initial exams. The doctor and staff were super and very helpful. The waiting times were a bit long, they were pretty busy. Both exams were handled very well, and our older pet was given a vaccination and allergy shot. Because she is allergic to vaccinations, she received special attention, but all turned out well. We received a followup call the next day, and everything was fine.
Fantastic experience: Very respectful and caring staff. They give clear explanations as to what's going on and what you need to do for after care. Our pittie mix has a gentle giant personality and he's not afraid to go in for care. He loves the staff.
Fantastic experience: My dog, Marty and I were seen very quickly by Dr. Brooks. He assessed the situation and gave 2 options for treatment. Dr. Brooks explained my options which were the very best route for Marty. Marty is 100% healed, and I am so thankful I found AV Veterinary Center. A great staff, team and wonderful veterinarian, Dr. Brooks. I will be using this vet for my other pets and will be recommending this vet to others! ❤️❤️
Fantastic experience: We have been bringing our pets to the AV Vet for probably at least 13 years. They have always taken such good care and saved the life of 2 of our dogs. And the staff is so kind and caring and when you're distressed about your fur babies, that really means a lot to know they care. Thank you AV Vet!!!
Fantastic experience: The staff at AV Veterinary hospital were so kind and attentive it was unbelievable. You can tell that they all deeply care about and love the job that they do. They saw us so fast and because of their amazing help and generosity my kittens are making a recovery from Parvo which is a really hard disease to recover from. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. <3
Positive experience: My first dog weighed 43 pounds I payed around $540 for her spay, then I had my second dog who weighed 32 pounds and they tried to charge me around $600 to spay her and when I mentioned I had my much bigger dog spayed for less all of a sudden they changed the price and her spay was closer to $450. Doesn't seem honest with pricing. The Dr did well for the surgeries but you should have your prices with no surprises or secrets. I didn't appreciate that. Price gouging at its finest. Unfortunately I will not be going back. Be upfront and honest. P.s don't forget to remove any I.V needles before your patient leaves.
Fantastic experience: Thank you Dr Harris, for saving my furbaby Pebbles life. Thank you MJ and all the amazing team at AV veterinary for taking good care of Pebbles. I'm so thankful and blessed to God I brought my Furbaby to the right place. I highly recommend this place for animal care.
Negative experience: they claimed to be open online and have they’re open sign on but said they won’t take our dog and are closed for the day.. my dog is dying. They claimed to be an emergency clinic but also told us they weren’t one. Misleading information. we drove hours to get there
Positive experience: They're not open 24 hours, which is what you want in an emergency vet clinic, and they're expensive. They took a shotgun approach to my ill cat, and the vets contradicted each other when interpreting the same data. They insisted on hospitalizing my cat instead of giving us IV fluids for rehydration, even though I warned them she would not eat and would deteriorate further in a kennel. I was right, and $2000 later plus a few weeks of at-home medication, we had nothing to show for it. That said, they're compassionate, intelligent, and they do honestly try to help.
Fantastic experience: In short, my experience was excellent! Professional, pleasant, and honest staff. I've been there twice for two different unfortunate situations, however I was not disappointed with their care and my dog came out just fine. Clean surgical work, good suture job, no post op issues. Services are fairly pricey, but the services they provided were absolutely top notch! So, without reservation, I gladly recommend this place. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Helped my cat ghost with a fight wound that required surgery. Everything worked out with the procedure, and ghost is back walking normally. The staff and the vet were polite and professional.
Fantastic experience: Our cat got very very sick so we took him here on an emergency visit & found out he was suffering from pneumonia Dr. Albasan did an amazing job treating our boy!! Our cat is already doing so much better only a week later… he’s already eating & drinking on his own.. has more energy to follow me around the apartment like usual… and even feels like he’s getting stronger fighting me when i give him meds lol. So happy for the quick recovery… We are so thankful!!!
Fantastic experience: AV Veterinary Center is our primary choice for care of our pets! We have always had a positive experience here, the staff are friendly and caring. Thank you for providing great service!
Fantastic experience: Why do animals only get hurt on Sundays ??? My 18 year old cat stumbled down the stairs. I thought she broke her back or leg as she was dragging her hind legs .I must have called 4 emergency vet's and they told me not to bring my cat in because they were too busy...grrr I called AV, and the receptionist told me to bring my my cat in ...well it was a 2 hour drive to get there . When I got there, the receptionist put me right in a room my cat was wisked away techs and vet kept me informed every step . I was only there for about 4 hours which seriously isn't long considering there were alot of patients. The cost was within a reasonable amount, considering it was a ER vet.Thank you staff for your service on what was a very stressful day for us.
Fantastic experience: We have taken our rescued chihuahua here. Found him badly injured (had been attacked by dogs.) They were fantastic. From office staff to doctor, all were kind and caring. We have since taken two cats there and took chihuahua again with bronchitis caused by living conditions he had been in. He had also been abused. The assistant came up and kissed him on the head before taking him in for treatment. I was so surprised. It made me so happy. He told me he loved animals! I would HIGHLY recommend AV Veterinary Center! Best Veterinary place in Lancaster!
Thank you so much for sharing your heartwarming experience at AV Veterinary Center! We're incredibly touched to hear about the care and compassion our team extended to your rescued chihuahua and other pets.
It's heartwarming to know that both our office staff and doctors were kind and caring, especially during such critical times. The fact that your chihuahua received not only medical attention but also the love and care he needed after a difficult past is truly heartening.

Negative experience: I tried to write what happened, but can't write whole the whole story, because you only have so many characters. If you would like to see the whole story of how AV Veterinary Center treats their animals and clients, I have submitted complaints at the BBC and California Veterinary Complaint Board. We had a 17 year old Dachshund who needed to cross Rainbow Bridge. They told us what time to come & then made her and us wait terrified, because they were busy. The kindness, compassion, caring and the taking care of animals is not the same. They are negligent and when they see a terrified dying dog they do nothing until they can get to them even though they told us when to come. My and I have cried for days. The visual of what our Kaycee Jae will never leave our minds. We are broken.
Fantastic experience: They took such good care of our fur baby today. I'm so grateful for emergency vets!! We don't have such a thing in Ridgecrest. But just 90 minutes away are these blessed people. The staff were so nice and it's the cleanest vets office I've ever seen! Thank you!
We're so glad to hear that we could provide excellent care for your fur baby when it was needed most! Your kind words about our emergency services and our staff truly mean a lot to us.

Fantastic experience: Friendly and professional staff. They have taken me in same day which has been very nice. The last time I went in my cat got better after a few days of medication treatment for her diarrhea. The vibe is good and they also have coffee available which I tried and enjoyed. Fantastic experience: I was so worried about my girl Chanel . From the first call until I picked up sweet girl, the receptionist , vet assistant and doctor were so caring and compassionate!! They took good care of my sweet girl and put me at ease . Thank you so much.
Fantastic experience: They took care of my Diesel our care, ate some poisonous plant, is doing fantastic, thank you everyone that works there. Irene
Fantastic experience: We can not thank enough the staff at this Veterinary Center for the care they showed us at a very difficult time for our family. It was Sunday, New Year’s morning, our dog was down in pain, we called this place, they answer immediately, we rushed our dog in but unfortunately he did not make it. The doctor and the staff were quick and caring. They offered us the cremation service, which we accepted. Today, we were very touched when we received his ashes in a beautiful cedar box, with a certificate and a plate with its name but the most beautiful gift was the engraving of his paw. Thank you for doing your job with so much care. We really appreciate it.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful and courteous service. I was struggling to find a vet in LA that would see my dog last minute prior to our travel plans. I stumbled upon this vet online and even though I had to drive an hour, they took my dog in and helped us with all the paperwork needed for her to travel with us abroad. And the prices are more than reasonable for being an urgent care. Worth the drive! Thank you for helping me out!
Positive experience: Did take care of my dog but wanted to charge me $1000 over what was necessary but that's no different then any other vet. However , with a little know how was able to opt out of the unnecessary extra bill. Not complaining about the care, they did fix my dog.
Negative experience: Would have been 1 star, but Andrew, the room technician, was nice and helpful. I took our cat in for a potential UTI, was met at the locked door, 5pm, by the short-grey haired office lady. She said that the doctor was not seeing any more patients because they needed to leave for an emergency and told me their night doctor came on at 8pm. I left, and came back at 6:30 just to check, the same woman gave me the same answer, so I told here I would be back at 7:50. I came back, got checked in at 8:15, and was taken to one of the client rooms. Andrew took my cat to see the doctor - he came back with a potential bill for blood panel and exam, etc, and Andrew explained that seeing the night doctor was $75 instead of $50. He said after 6pm, the cost goes up - I told him I was there at 5pm, but they wouldn't see me then - he went to talk to the office ladies - he came back and said they wouldn't change the fee. Also, while I was waiting, I left the room, and was quietly sitting in the hallway outside the room, looking at the fish tank, 10 feet from the room they had put me in. The same front office lady walked over and told me I needed to go to the client room - mean and unfriendly. Not sure why there are chairs across from the fish tank if you aren't supposed to sit there. Your front office is the face of your company - I'll find another vet location.
Fantastic experience: Love this office. Amazing doctors and friendly, helpful staff here make an otherwise stressful trip to the vet a much better experience. We have 4 dogs, all of them recently contracted kennel cough, 3 are better now but our old guy (15) is now struggling with congestive heart failure. It's obvious that the doctors communicate well, so when we had to see a different doctor this week for yet another issue, she knew exactly what was going on with our pack. We appreciated not having to start over with the explanation. Would absolutely recommend this office.
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this 24hr vet. After my puppy broke his leg, I had to return weekly for bandage changes and x-rays. And every time I had a good experience! The staff is very compassionate towards your pets and you. They’re also very knowledgeable, professional, and kind.
Negative experience: Would not recommend!!! We took our puppy there because she had diarrhea we knew it wasn't parvo because she was vaccinated and didn't show the other symptoms yet they treated her as if she did have it. To this we agreed because we also didn't know if what she had was contagious, but after three days hospitalized they still didn't know what she had, they said we could take her home with medications. We continued the medication but after 5 days she started losing balance, having seizures, and throwing up foam. They charged over $3K and they didn't even diagnose her. When we called to complained they said we should take her back but we still had to pay even though the money we previously paid didn't help her at all. Our puppy didn't make it, PLEASE DON'T TAKE YOUR'S!
Fantastic experience: Dr.Greg and staff anticipate actions that need to be taken in a timely manner. Dr Greg and his staff work well together with our pets. Gregory thanks you and he’s feeling much better. It’s not good to hurt. Would highly recommend your services to any pet owner. Tell Dr.Greg that Gregory Cat sent me!
Awww! Thank you Ed and Gregory the cat!!
Negative experience: I took my Charlie (YorkshireTerrier) there because he was having difficulty breathing. My wife and I kept on being told that we should leave Charlie there and how important it was to leave them there. So we did leave him overnight and we had him receive all the recommended treatments at the cost of over $2,000 over the period of a day and a half. We went to go pick him up the next day, and were told that we should leave him at the vet for an additional day at the cost of an additional $1,500. We questioned why we should do that when we were being told that they were only offering him extra oxygen. Right before Charlie was brought out we were told that all is vital signs were normal. However, when we left Charlie died within 5 minutes of us leaving the vet. If a dog is so close to death wouldn't you think that an experienced veterinarian would know that? However, what the vet really cared about was getting as much money as they could from us including the owner who was there recommended the Charlie should stay there at the vet. What they really cared about was getting as much money as they could from us before Charlie died, instead of making sure the Charlie was with us when he passed away. This is by far the worst veterinarian who only cared about money and not about keeping us and our Charlie together during his last moments of life. To be fair when we brought Charlie back after he died the attending employees at the front desk we're very empathetic and allowed us the use of the room to be with Charlie as we said goodbye to him. However, I will never go back to this place because if my dog died within 5 minutes of us picking him up after we were told that his vital signs are okay, and never being told that he was passing away by experienced veterinarians, what that tells me is that they were trying to use Charlie to get as much money from us as they could before he passed away.
