Paces Ferry Veterinary Clinic

Negative experience: I took my dog there today for an appointment at 10:20 I arrived at 9:45 checked in and wasn't seen until 10:45. Others arrived after me and dogs immediately were seen. We finally went back to be seen just to be told " we can't do anything for him today he's too aggressive and rolling around on the floor" if this is your profession you should be able to find a way to overcome that obstacle especially when you've seen this dog for 5 years. I will never return back to this establishment and If you have a big dog I wouldn't suggest this veterinary for your pet as well

Fantastic experience: We love this place! We bring both of our rescue pitties here to see Dr. Cavanaugh and she is so thorough and caring. One of our dogs is pretty reactive in the waiting room and the other is so scared, she can barely get through the doors. The staff handle them both so well and make us feel so supported when bringing them in. They make the whole process smooth from beginning to end and we’re so grateful we found somewhere that cares so much about their patients!

Fantastic experience: I've been taking my cats here for years. I love all the people here. Even if its a new Doctor for my cats, they've always been treated very well. I first started off with 2 when I first came to them from a recommendation. Then I had 3, then 4, then 5 and now 6. (I promise its the last one!) All 6 come here and I feel they get the best treatment! I go out of my way to come to this vet even though its 40-45 minute drive because honestly, I don't trust any other vet. There always super nice, very gentle on my pets. Explains things super easy, answers questions over the phone. Super transparent about pricing and they dont bulk at me when I do ask about it. They dont push unnecessary procedures. At this point I feel like I gotta start sending Cat Christmas Cards Ive been with this practice so long lol

Negative experience: We brought our cat in for a checkup due to over-grooming. The vet outlined a clear treatment plan: start with a flea collar, and if that didn’t work, call back for anti-anxiety medication. This plan was documented and agreed upon. Four months later, the flea collar hadn’t helped, so we called to move forward with the next step. That’s when we learned, without any prior notice, that our vet had left the clinic. Despite having our cat’s recent records and a documented plan in place, the clinic refused to prescribe the medication unless we scheduled another visit (which is very stressful for our cat). We asked if they could waive the additional exam fee since this was part of an existing plan, but they declined. They explained that the new doctor needed to see our cat before feeling comfortable prescribing medication, which is understandable, but that situation isn’t our fault. Out of fairness to the client, the clinic should have waived the follow-up fee. Had our original vet still been there, she would have prescribed the medication after a simple phone call, as previously agreed. Nothing about our cat’s condition or the plan had changed. This clinic failed to communicate, disregarded a documented treatment plan, and prioritized billing over our pet’s wellbeing. We won’t be returning and can’t recommend them to anyone who values transparency and compassionate care. Update - reply to owner’s response: A Veterinary Client-Patient Relationship is actually established with one in-person visit which was conducted and you confirmed. We also had numerous follow up calls with the doctor so we in fact had an established relationship. It is apparent you do not value clear communication since you failed to notify us of our doctor leaving your clinic.

Fantastic experience: Perfect...caring capable and professional. Wouldn't take my babies anywhere else. I drive from Douglasville just to see these vets.

Fantastic experience: They have been super good with my pug, who has major anxiety. I really trust them and think it’s a safe place.

Negative experience: Admittedly, my German shepherd was a patient of theirs about a year ago, and I am just now leaving a review. But, I see the scar they left her everyday. After she broke her toe one day, I brought her here. Being a shepherd, she always has done better at the vet when I am not in the room. So, I allowed them to take her to the back, where she was placed in a splint/cast. We were told to come back weekly, for a redressing—at an over priced cost. We saw multiple vets at the practice, during our weekly visits. After her showing a lot of discomfort after multiple weeks of them “helping”, we decided to go to another practice. They had let her splint/cast cause pressure sores to the point where I could see her tendons. These photos are from the second option vet. Paces Ferry did not have her best interest at heart. Absolutely would NOT recommend these people.

Fantastic experience: Paces Ferry Vet reminds me that it takes a village to care for our fur babies. They are thorough, kind, and accommodating. Dr. Warner and Dr. Cavanaugh are exceptional. I also value Josh’s assistance. He’s so gentle with my pup. This vet has been the best decision we’ve made when considering the care for our dog. Thank you!

Positive experience: Service here is always great but prices go up literally every single time we visit. I understand a need for market adjustment but a price increase at every visit is unreasonable. This is more of a message to the PE firm that likely owns them than the leadership of the practice. PE firms will profit more in the end focusing on customer experience rather than pure profits. Just sayin'.

Fantastic experience: The care I experienced at Paces Ferry Veterinary Clinic was top flight all of the way. The staff was very friendly, experienced, and showed great care toward my kitty cat. Every step of the way the Vet Tech and Dr. Taylor explained what they were looking for and reasons for doing various tests. At no time did I feel left out of the reason why certain tests and X-rays were required. The office was also very capable and willing to engage with my pet insurance representatives concerning the claims process. Fantastic experience: Dr. Warner and Nurse Elana always take such great care of my boy howie! Elana takes time to hold him with care and Dr. Warner always has a gentle touch. She also always is great about following up with him. He’s been coming here since he was a baby so even though I live almost a hour away, I wouldn’t trust anyone else with him. ❤️

Fantastic experience: Our dog went to Paces Ferry Vet for the second half of his life and the entire team took great care of him. Dr. Minicozzi in particular was thorough, communicative, and compassionate and is great with senior dogs in particular. We had to unexpectedly put him down recently and Dr. Minicozzi and team did everything they could to treat our dog and entire family with care and dignity. We will be forever grateful to them. It is probably slightly pricier than some other vet offices but the care is top quality.

Fantastic experience: I adopted a dog three years ago only a few days after moving to Atlanta. She became very ill 48 hours after adopting her, so (being new to town) I immediately googled “vets near me” & I am so glad Paces Ferry Vet popped up. Over the years, my girl June morphed into an incredibly medically complex dog & each visit I was met with nothing but compassion & honesty & financially feasible options. After a severe health decline two weeks ago, we made the difficult decision to put June down. Dr. Taylor, Dr. Minicozzi, Alana, and Janet specifically have made all the difference in June’s life & my life. Despite having moved out of the Vinings area, I will continue to make the drive for the level of care & kindness my partner, myself & our other two animals receive. We love you, Paces Ferry Vet!

Fantastic experience: I have entrusted the staff with our pup Zoey for five years, and they have completed two life saving surgeries for her. I cannot say enough incredible things about the doctors, every single one has treated Zoey at a point in her life and they work incredible independently and as a team. Most specifically Dr. Taylor (Hogan) has been a saving grace for Zoey and now our other pets. We transferred my fiancé’s cat to Paces Ferry Vet and within the first visit Dr. Taylor created a treatment plan that Included diagnostics many other vets missed. We will only take our pets to Paces Ferry Vet for the rest of time!

Fantastic experience: All of the doctors are great and always explain everything in detail. While Bailey loves everyone, Casper is a Nervous Nellie. Dr. Hogan works so hard to make friends with him at each appointment and he finally comes around! She is great about answering any questions I have- no matter how many there are! Casper and Bailey never enjoy going to the vet but we’ve always been grateful for their patience with our crazy monsters.

Fantastic experience: The staff is incredible, caring, and intelligent. They make both you and your pet feel comfortable. Easy to make appointments, even for things like surgery. Extremely hygienic and will let you wait in the car instead of the waiting room if that makes you or your pet more comfortable. Note this is not an emergency 24/7 vet clinic.

Fantastic experience: Paces Ferry Vet was our primary vet for our dog from the time we got him in 2019 until some unforeseen circumstances led to an earlier than expected goodbye this week. I was so surprised today to see a letter from Paces Ferry Vet and upon opening it saw it was a handwritten note from our pup’s primary vet - Dr. Minicozzi expressing sympathy for my wife and I after the events of this week with our dog. In a society that has grown increasingly impersonal and disconnected, I cannot express how human such a simple gesture came across to my wife and I. The vet care is absolutely incredible but it’s simple things like the above or our vet taking our phone call when our dog was experiencing an emergency and calmly telling us exactly what we needed to do that proves this places really cares about the animals and families they serve. Though we no longer live in the immediate Atlanta metro area, when it is time for us to introduce another fur baby into our family, we will absolutely make the drive down to Paces Ferry Vet due to the quality of care they provide.

Negative experience: Well I paid for anal gland extraction that wasn’t done properly. My dog is still excreting the smell the next day. I paid for a non diagnostic X-ray that radiologist couldn’t tell if it was kibble or corn. Paid for dog induced vomiting, he won’t vomit, then to correct that had to pay for medicine for reverse it. Is this a shop where animals go to for exploratory diagnostics and their owner end up with $800 bills? Yes it is. About months later, i realize this "practice" banned my dog from coming for nails trim because of my bad review. What a scam.

Fantastic experience: The booking experience on the phone with Abby was great as a new patient. Wait time was pretty quick and Mary took amazing care of us. My cat has a lot of anxiety and she was calm with Mary, who also made sure to ask a lot of questions and explain everything to me. Dr. Mueller was very informed and gentle with my cat. Fantastic experience: We explored vet clinics and doctors for 25 years in Atlanta. Paces Ferry Vet Clinic has been the best. Was referred to them 5 years ago and talked to existing clients. They all said this place is the best. So far, we agree.

Negative experience: Typically do not write reviews, but felt this needed one. Have been taking my healthy golden retriever to Paces Ferry since I moved to Smyrna. Previously, he had to have his anal glands expressed regularly from our old vet. When I told them to check his glands, they repeatedly said they looked great (4 or 5 appointments over the course of a year). When in a different city for the holidays, my healthy, playful dog woke us up in the middle of the night frantic, shaking, and in obvious pain. We took him to the nearest vet where they told us his glands were infected and scarred from chronic inflammation. For the last year he has been uncomfortable in pain and I trusted that it was fine. For something that seems so regular and routine at most vets, this was a big miss and we will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: Paces Ferry Vet clinic has been very accommodating and provided great care for my dog. The staff is very knowledgeable, understanding, and courteous. We moved to another part of town and found another vet, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Paces Ferry Vet to anyone looking for a vet clinic in the area.

Fantastic experience: We came to the clinic after being displaced from a hurricane and needed our dog to be seen. They were able to get us in the same day, answered all of our questions, and were thorough with our dogs care. We called the clinic a week later to follow up and were met with such kindness. If we lived closer, this would be our primary vet, but we're 7 hours away. We have great peace of mind knowing this clinic is near to family members should an issue ever arise with our dog when we visit. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Our previous vet retired..My very first visit at Paces Ferry Vet Clinic was extremely welcoming. They had my baby’s name on a welcome board along with a few other dogs. It was so cute! I was able to go back with him when he got his shots and during his exam. Everyone was so friendly! Despite Amiri’s lack of socialization they knew just how to deal with him. Even though there was a miscommunication, the team worked us in and Dr. Hogan saw us on a Saturday. Dr.Hogan is very knowledgeable and took her time to talk and explain things to me. At the end of my appointment, they made sure they rectified everything for me! I am extremely satisfied and will recommend this office to all of my pet parent friends

Fantastic experience: Paces Ferry Veterinary Clinic is the best! I've been taking my pets here since I was in grad school over 25 years ago. Within this span of time, this means Scrappy, Felix, Louie, Comet, Charlie, Margaret, and Hazel have been under care at this clinic. Dr. Minicozzi (plus the other docs), front desk staff and vet techs are truly the kindest, most committed and competent team you can imagine. It feels like family here.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been taking my #supermariobros dogs here for years. Even after I moved to midtown from Vinings I still make the drive to bring my Luigi here for all his appointments. They truly go the extra mile from the front desk staff (Janet and Jessica) to the Dr.’s. I so appreciate how they always know us when we call or come in and how they care for every animal that comes into their practice. When I had to put my Mario down in 2019 they were so kind and walked me through every step of a painful hard situation. They even sent us flowers of sympathy. They truly care about our babies and go the extra mile.

Fantastic experience: They did a great job of fitting in my dog on a busy Saturday morning after an emergency. Both the technician and veterinarian or thorough, both gathering, pertinent information, explaining the diagnosis, and discussing treatment. Always friendly, and making one feel as comfortable and comforted when treating our dogs.

Fantastic experience: Paces Ferry Vet is simply the best. I have a German Shepherd with pretty severe vet anxiety. They work with him and I to ensure he gets the care he needs with as little stress as possible. Everyone treats him as if he were their own dog. Recently, Dr. Matthews' thoroughness and follow-up helped us find a particularly aggressive cancer early before it had a chance to spread. We had surgery and are hopeful for a good recovery. If she hadn't spent the extra time and followed up like she did, we wouldn't have found it until it was too late. ♥️

Fantastic experience: I recently moved to the area and was looking for a new clinic close by, and I have to say, this clinic blew me away. From the check-in process, to the technicians, and the doctors. Everyone was fantastic. Dr. Matthews was especially wonderful! Fantastic experience: Dr Whittle is one of the kindest most generous people I’ve ever known. Dr Warner is a wonderful vet as well. Thankful to have our two miniature schnauzers in good hands under their professional care. This vet clinic is the most tender nurturing group of workers. Fantastic experience: Dr. Hogan is the first vet who's actually taken the time to discuss my dog's health and diet with me instead of treating me like just another "number" and rushing me out the door. I highly recommend PFVC! Also the rest of the staff was friendly and inviting and our vet tech was very knowledgeable as well.

Fantastic experience: We always love the service we receive here. We have seen multiple doctors for our 2 pups and each one has been great. They are especially good about giving a follow up call a few days after a visit for an illness or injury to check and see how how our pup is feeling. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I only was in this office 2x with my senior dog, unfortunately the second time was for end of life care. I got home today to a card in the mail from Dr. Matthew’s and it truly made my day knowing she took the time to reach out despite only meeting my dog Ty once before. Both of my visits despite the circumstances were outstanding with the ultimate respect shown towards me and my dog, and I truly felt like they had both of our best interest and concern at heart.

Fantastic experience: I continue to receive excellent care from Paces Ferry vet for my dog Scruffy. It’s reasonably quick even though they are always dealing with urgent issues. They treated my dog for heartworm and he continues to do well. I highly recommend them!

Fantastic experience: Cali had her annual vet appointment today. Poor little kitty vomited, pooped and peed in her crate on the way to the vet. She really is a horrible traveler! Paces Ferry Veterinary Clinic was so understanding and compassionate. They cleaned both Cali and the crate and never made us feel like it was an imposition. In the nearly three years we have been using this clinic, we have never been anything but completely satisfied with their care of our fur baby.

Fantastic experience: Been bringing our Frenchie named Q here for 3 years and every single interaction with every doctor and staff member is exceptional. Quality medical attention, they remember him (or pretend to ), give advice like it's their own pet (i.e they don't over sell you on procedures or whatever isn't totally needed and/or give you all the info to make an informed decision). Front desk have big hearts and try to make scheduling a breeze and work you in if needed. The renovations were a nice touch as the building was a little outdated but now looks a lot more modern in the front and exam rooms have a new paint of coat. But honestly I come here for the care and the people.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Matthews who is GREAT is typically the vet my dog sees but EVERYONE there is great as well. I know my dog is in good hands at Paces Ferry! I wouldn't go anywhere else for my dogs medical needs.

Fantastic experience: The entire staff is wonderful! The team at the front desk is always friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. And all of the Vets and Techs are so kind and compassionate. I can’t recommend Dr. Minicozzi enough for senior pets. She caught my now 17-year-old Maltese’s heart disease early, and has helped us keep it well managed for the last 2 1/2 years. And now she’s helping me navigate his care in his “bucket list days.” Her compassion, and telling me “you won’t have to make these decisions alone” when getting a bad diagnosis, was such a comfort in an extremely difficult moment.

I become friends with some of the staff over the years and I feel very comfortable trusting the health of my pets to the doctors. We’ve had three dogs over the years and they’ve always taken wonderful care of them.
