Fantastic experience: So grateful to the vets and staff at Grant! They saved my dog's life, and I was relieved that the price wasn't as much as I had feared it might be. Very reasonable prices and lovely people. My dog loves everyone here, even after having had some difficult procedures done, so I know they have earned her trust and therefore mine.
Fantastic experience: Dr Clem is the best. I took two of my difficult dogs in yesterday. She never gave up trying to be their friend. The dogs are not just patients to her they are part of our family and she treats them that way.
Fantastic experience: Easy to make an online appt. & got in within a cple of days for a new visit. Dr Sadler is very kind & knowledgeable & I’m glad she’s the one who saw my pup for his first vet visit. Her assistant made sure I was aware of the cost of everything they did & asked my permission before it was done. So glad I was referred here!
Negative experience: I really wanted to like this office. The front desk girl was amazing, our vet tech was phenomenal, most of the vets there are great..BUT…Dr. Rouse really ruined our experience here. I’m a dog trainer and had a clients dog who needed to be seen asap for what we assumed was chronic pain from something he had briefly mentioned in an exam a year and a half ago. At this point the dog was having some pretty inconsistent reactivity, and we really just wanted to get to the bottom of what was causing it. So the owner scheduling an appointment for me to take her in, upon arriving, we had initially been scheduled with a different vet, unfortunately, she had gotten snowed in and so we were stuck seeing Dr. Rouse. The vet tech was so understanding and kind about the situation, took the pup back for X-rays, and came back and bragged on how good she did and said that they did notate an issue with her left knee and that the doctor would be in shortly to discuss it. When he walked in, he was immediately rude to the tech and snapped at us about why the owner wasn’t there and why she wasn’t already waiting in a phone call for the results. The owner was handling an emergency situation with family and I had to call and interrupt that so that she could be FaceTimed because that’s what he demanded we do. He went on to say that her kneecap was indeed popping in and out of place every time that she moved. That she obviously couldn’t tell us how much it hurt, but he didn’t think it hurt “that” bad. I mentioned her reactivity and he said “over time it probably has made her act crazy *while making a gesture towards his head/brain* and that she probably just needs a strong dose of Trazodone.” I immediately mentioned that the owner and I had already discussed that we really didn’t want to do that unless absolutely necessary and that we really would like to trail some pain/inflammation meds to see if that helped. It would either help or it wouldn’t, but we wouldn’t know until we tried. He then tried to argue that again, it didn’t seem that painful and that pain meds wouldn’t be something he recommended. I mentioned that like he said, she couldn’t tell us how painful it actually was and that we didn’t want to do trazodone. He said that he did recommend a joint supplement that she’d likely be on for the rest of her life and that eventually he did see her having a hip dysplasia diagnosis, but at 3.5 years old, she was just too young for that. (If you know anything about dogs and that diagnosis, that is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard and also, so damaging and negligent to the dog. If he already sees that potential, more should be done to hopefully slow down the progression and minimize the pain associated with the condition) He was glaring at me the whole time I was talking and then said “okay, well at the end of the day, this isn’t your decision. So *owner*, you have a couple opinions, based off of what I said”. Thankfully the owner and I were on the same page and wanted to see if pain/inflammation meds helped so that we could check that box off. He rolled his eyes and said “well I’m the only vet here, so I have other dogs I need to see. I’ll get the script filled” and just walked out of the room. It was the most disrespect I’ve ever experienced from a vet. My personal vet would’ve NEVER treated a patient or their techs poorly, so I was appalled by his behavior. Lo and behold, the meds did indeed help the pup AND she had a second opinion at another vet today with her owner. The other vet said her case was severe, recommended pain meds, AND surgery for how progressed her condition was. I get being overwhelmed and burnt out, but that behavior was absolutely unacceptable and downright disrespectful. His job is to advocate for pets and make sure they’re as comfortable and healthy as possible. Not only forcing her to be in pain, but also saying she needed to be drugged/sedated to bandaid the issue, rather than treating it is absolutely disgusting and he shouldn’t be practicing if he doesn’t have the pets best interest at heart.
Fantastic experience: The whole of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Lucy responded well to them, despite having been her first time going to a new setting like that. My pup has definitely relaxed on her itchiness and the inflammation has been steadily decreasing with each day. Dr. Sanford was kind and patient with her explanation of Lucy's diagnosis and with some helpful info for pet-related resources in the area. Flag on the flea pill's pricing. I didn't have much of a frame of reference prior to paying so that's kinda on me for not having done my due diligence.
Negative experience: I called. My tom cat had sniffles. Pay $90 by credit card before you get to Veterinary over phone just for appointment! Doesn’t take temperature. Tells me if I need blood work it’s $189. Doesn’t listen to lungs! If you want antibiotics there’s the liquid which I give or shot for $160. I look the liquid antibiotic which doesn’t not tell you anything except how much to give not how often but it’s supposed to last 10 days! $169. Plus 1 month of flea, worms! I feel so taken I would never send a friend there!

Fantastic experience: My Mac had a medical emergency and they got him right in. Love you guys! This is an edit to my previous review. Today Mac had a 3 pm appointment to check his hematoma again and we were there on time and were put in a waiting room. A hafl hour later a teck came in and swabbed Macs ears and said it would only be 8 minutes for the results. After waiting a bit more I took Mac and we went out to the reception desk and I told the receptionist that the visit was taking too long and I had other errands to run. She told me out there the test would take 30 minutes before results were ready. I told her the teck told me 8 minutes and she said why would he tell you that. Good question. So she told me I needed to pay for the test that at that point was not of a concern as we had waited longer than should have for a teck. I realize stuff comes up but I paid $75.00 for the privilege of sitting in a room.

Fantastic experience: I have taken my cat here three times, and all 3 visits were amazing! The doctors were very kind and patient. Positive experience: Did great service but was way over priced for the service. Will find new vet because of disagreements with happy healthy pet but if you have alot of money would recommend

Fantastic experience: Always take wonderful care of my dog and cat. The vets are knowledgeable, listen to concerns, and don’t not make you feel rushed like I’ve had with other vets. They truly care about animals. Receptions are warm and welcoming also. We’ve been visiting them for years and honestly would never go anywhere else in Springfield. I cannot recommend them enough!
Fantastic experience: I called the office to make an appointment for my dog who had broken her claw the night before and they got me in same day. They were so good with my dog (even though she is very high spirited and excitable) and took care of her quickly. I’ve never had a bad experience here and I plan to bring my dog back for future services.

Fantastic experience: First visit and the receptionist was very welcoming. The vet tech, Avery, was awesome. She explained everything clearly. The vet was wonderful. They are very caring people. I know I can trust them with my new kitten, Willow. Overall it was a great experience.

Negative experience: Please read my addendum at the end, I updated my review! I saw a new vet at my visit and she was really nice. The only thing I have to say that they could improve on is being more on time. I waited 45 minutes before I asked someone when I was going to be seen and I was told that they were short staffed. Being a person who has worked in health care for 35 years, I can tell you that no one cares that you're short staffed and it is not something that you should ever tell a client. It doesn't make anybody feel better. Fewer people should be scheduled each day to make sure that they are seen within at least 30 minutes of arrival. Preferably 15 minutes. I had an emergency occur right when their facility was closing and was told I would have to wait 30 more minutes and call the emergency clinic. They had to have been able to tell I was frantic because my dog had eaten chocolate with marijuana in it and I was almost hysterical. They never offered any advice on what to do before I could go to the emergency clinic they did not care one little bit they just kept repeating the same sentence "You have to wait 30 more minutes till the ER opens". By the time we got there my dog was having convulsions and ended up having to be admitted, have her stomach pumped, and have an IV. I did call back and complain and told him that I thought the lady that answered the phone should never work with animals again. There are many other caring veterinary offices in town, keep looking.

Negative experience: Called at 4:30pm due to an emergency with one of my dogs bleeding from bottom. Was told they could not help until Tuesday (it’s Friday). They told me to wait and go to emergency vet. Aren’t you a pet hospital and advertise emergency no appointments needed I have 4 dogs and have always taken them to Grant Hospital but not anymore. Time to look for a new vet
Brian, we appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately, our veterinarians are limited to how many patients they can see at a given moment and clients may see varying wait times throughout the day. We ask for your understanding as our hospital staff works hard to attend to the needs of every pet that works through our doors even with a large volume of patients.
Negative experience: Place is more worried about they're money than the pets you bring in. They tell me I owe 900 for services that was covered while I was going there. My plan lapses so it should only be a pay for the plan and my.dog get seen. Nope,they want to charge me cor the services that was performed on her WHILE I was covered. And then when I try to ask questions about the bill get rudely intrupted and told my dog cant be seen. Completely messed up that a PET HOSPITAL is even all about they're money and not whats best for your pet. Won't be going back nor referring anyone back here

Fantastic experience: Took my dog in for an injured back leg and the vet told me it was more than likely a tear in the knee. We could do x-rays, but they were going to be a couple hundred dollars extra but she was pretty sure her diagnosis was correct. She left it up to me and we decided against them because I am on a tight budget. That was awesome. Instead of gouging me for every dollar they could, they did what was right for the dog. My girl Happy. She’s a rescue that’s about 11 to 12 years. Old and surgery is the only option and apparently it’s going to be pretty expensive for the time. She’s probably got left with me. Tough decisions, but it was nice having somebody there that was honest and compassionate. I’ve moved and I was considering going to a vet that was closer. I didn’t get her name, but this vet veterinarian changed my mind. I’ll drive across town for a business that has staff with character. Hard to find anymore.
Negative experience: We came over for a dog show from England, booked an appointment with Grant Vets for a worming treatment few weeks ago via a friend. As soon as we walked in, the attitude towards us was noticeable. We were refused the worming due to saying it was needed by a USDA vet. We have been over many times and know the rules of bringing a dog back to England, not exporting, which would need a USDA. Highly recommend Eastside Vets, who kindly accommodated us at the last minute.

Negative experience: I had an emergency was told, can't help you, one vet on staff during a middle of the day Monday no other staff to do a catheter my dog has bladder issues. 3 different emergency vet hospitals couldn't help, someone needs to change the administrative mind set in this hospital, train staff to perform task that dont take a vet, should charge the name from hospital to limited knowledge clinic

Fantastic experience: Dr Clem and her staff were wonderful with my feisty little chihuahua. He is quite the challenge and she handled him beautifully. (The treats did help too). I would not take my fur babies anywhere else for treatment. From the front office, to the techs and vets, the care and concern is unsurpassed. Best veterinary clinic around!
Fantastic experience: For not being able to be the one to take these sweet kittens myself, I still was VERY pleased with the whole team. My cousin said they were amazing. They definitely won me as a new patient. These kittens were “strays” (neighborhood kittens) but were very sick and needed an asap (within the same day) appt and that is what they did. It also didn’t break the bank to have both seen and medication. Thank you to the whole team!!!

Fantastic experience: My buddy Jeff had a bit of an "emergency" and needed to be seen rather quickly around 4:30PM. I called all over and this was the only place that could get us in same day. I'm so happy the did! This vet hospital is AMAZING! Everyone is so nice and thoughtful. I hadn't even checked reviews prior to our visit, but I am happy to see we are not alone in this sentiment. Fantastic experience: I had a pretty good experience with Grant St. Vet Clinic, even though it started off rocky: I had to bring in my kitty into urgent care as first timers here because he was limping and I wasn't sure if he got into a scuffle or what. I called the week before to make the appointment and when I went in I was told that they didn't have me on the books, but they could try and work me in. Luckily, the wait wait was very short and they could see us quickly. Once we were checked-in, we didn't wait long to see the vet/vet assistant and they were very tender and attentive with my little troublemaker. they kept me in the loop of everything they were doing, his diagnosis and what the game plan would be once I took him home. I was really impressed with everything and everyone despite how the visit started. We did have to come back the following morning to bring him in more sedated and I did receive a text confirmation which I was relieved to see that I wouldn't be met with the same surprise from the day before. I would highly recommend this vet, I would just ask for a name of who you are speaking to and call to confirm appointments when they are first made and keep an eye out for the confirmation!

Fantastic experience: Our youngest cat, Freddy, got an infection at his right eye. It hit him overnight and he was not eating or drinking. I've had 2 experience at an emergency vet in town that were not pleasant, nor professional, were financially draining, and neither pet survived. I called Grant Pet Hospital this time. We took our Freddy in the next morning and received the best service for him. His infection was real bad. After a week of meds for his infection and right eye, his eye did end up ruptured, as we expected it might. Grant Pet Hospital got him in the next day for surgery on removal of the ruptured eye. We took him in with full confidence that he would be fine afterwards. He's had his stitches removed, is infection free and back to his normal loveable self. It was such a better experience! I highly recommend Grant Pet Hospital for your emergency and routine services for your beloved pet.

Negative experience: Yeah, go somewhere else. They will sell medicine that is expired but them not take it back because I opened it. They wanted to sell me more instead. Be SURE to check dates before opening. I mean its my fault for not looking but I thought I could trust that it was good. Apparently not.

Fantastic experience: They were great. They got me in quickly when my kitty was sick. Both the vet tech and the vet were very kind and knowledgeable. They didn't try to tack on a bunch of extra tests and were straight forward and honest. My cat loved them and tried to go back to the back with them they left the exam room.

Fantastic experience: Yesterday evening we had to put our sweet Piper Maple down unexpectedly. It was one of the hardest moments and decisions our family ever had to make. However, the vet, tech and staff at Grant were so compassionate and tender with us. They were gentle in every way which was exactly what we needed in that horrible moment. I would not wish this heartache on anyone, but I’m very grateful God led us to Grant to say our goodbyes. Thank you Grant Pet Hospital for loving us well yesterday. It meant the world to us.
Fantastic experience: I am extremely happy with this veterinarian. After having my cat seen at several veterinarians for a chronic health issue, this was the first one that actually had a care plan to get him healthy. Everyone there was knowledgeable and gentle. I am extremely happy with this veterinarian and so relieved to finally get my cat the help he needs.

Fantastic experience: They got me in for my puppy MR. Moo for his last round of shots quickly since my reg vet canceled my appointment because their computer system was down for two weeks. Place is very clean and everyone was courteous to us. I will be back and start on one of their wellness plans for Mr. Moo. Thanks again for helping him out.

Negative experience: I usually have nothing but nice things to say about this vet clinic. The staff is amazing and have always treated my dogs well. I am not happy with how hard they push for you to buy their OUTRAGEOUSLY priced medications from their pharmacy. Just received an email stating that they will no longer work with 3rd party pharmacies for prescriptions. Whoever’s decision this was, you’ve likely just lost a bunch of customers. Shame on you.

Fantastic experience: I can honestly say my experience at Grant Pet Hospital was excellent. We booked our appointment online and it was super easy. Everybody that we encountered the day of our appointment was super nice and compassionate with our dog that gets nervous around people he doesn't know. He is not an aggressive dog by no means but is very nervous in new environments. They tried to put a muzzle on him but realizing they were just stressing him out more they brought him to us (the people that he trusts) to put it on him. You can tell they love the animals they are caring for. We will definitely be reaching out soon to get our other two dogs in for check ups.

Fantastic experience: This was the only vet that would see our dog as a new patient for an urgent exam on the same day that I called. We had little to no wait time for our appointment. As a new patient, we had to prepay the first exam fee when scheduling the appointment, and any remainder following the visit. The fees are reasonable, even for urgent care, and the cost of the prescription meds was really fair. They did a thorough exam, discussed treatment options, fully addressed our concerns, and answered each one of our questions. They also helped us figure out a short-term future care plan for our senior dog which is 15 yrs old. This clinic showed compassion at every level. We have chosen to switch our dog's care to this clinic from his previous clinic.

Fantastic experience: It's expensive... but 100% worth it if you have the money. We take our reactive dog here and they not only give him sedatives but go above and beyond to make sure he and everyone stays safe and calm. I cannot thank the staff and vets enough.

Fantastic experience: Great experience! Very knowledgeable and kind to my dog throughout the exam and vaccines. Will be returning for future needs. I also like that they didn't make my dog and I sit in the waiting room (my dog pulls and barks when other dogs are nearby) they brought us immediately to the exam room which saved me a lot of stress.

Negative experience: Jury is still out. I’m 400.00 in and my pet continues suffering from the same symptoms I took her in for. Staff answering the phone can be unsympathetic at times. Three prescriptions and no change.

Negative experience: I’d give zero stars if I could. The ladies that work up front will ruin your entire experience. They only gave me half of a prescription because they “were out” but charged me for the full amount and said I could pick up the rest. I’ve now came back twice and it’s been nothing but a hassle saying they don’t do that and that they could sell me another full prescription for $50. I was saying to the lady that the lady from the day before was extremely rude and she cut me off and told me she doesn’t want to be aggressive when I was only trying to explain the lady the day before was extremely rude and I never yelled or raised my voice even. This is the worst place to be when your pet is sick and the people treat you like dirt.

Fantastic experience: Update: His teeth were removed. He was in pain daily. Thank you Grant Pet Hospital! We pray for quick healing and we appreciate you all. Our first appointment was very good. People are friendly and my poor cat needs to have all his teeth removed. He has bad gums and pain. We were fortunate to have Grant Pet Hospital have an open available day to do the procedure. We will have this done next week.

Fantastic experience: April 2025 - My dog Wendel's ear healed nicely and we returned 7 months later for his yearly checkup and shots. Dr Rouse and vet nurse Cassandra were awesome with Wendel. I highly recommend this clinic, the vet team (especially Dr Rouse), the nurses (especially Cassandra) and the entire staff. September 2024 - My dog Wendel was bitten on the ear by another dog during training, developing a hematoma, and my vet didn't have an appointment available until the following week. Grant Pet Hospital got us in the next day and the staff and Dr Rouse were awesome. I highly recommend this pet hospital!

Positive experience: I had an emergency or what I thought was an emergency and they were able to get me right in. They were very nice, caring and helped me with the issue. The cost was a bit higher than I expected but I do have a Great Dane so that could be why! Overall I'd highly recommend them especially if your vet is closed or overbooked and you need emergency care.

Fantastic experience: The people are truly fantastic! This was my first time taking my dog to the vet and everyone was super inviting! They were patient with me as I asked questions and let me be hands on while my dog got shots! The facility was clean, the prices are fair, and again everyone is super nice. Fantastic experience: a few weeks ago we brought our dog in from the emergency vet , she was in a rough place when we brought her in but they did absolutely EVERYTHING they could to keep my girl comfortable… we did end up having to send our Nala girl to heaven & the way the staff was so gentle & caring during this hard time for us , is something I will never forget… losing a pet is never easy & although this experience was completely heartbreaking they handled it so well … A HUGE thank you to everyone who took care of my baby, she was one of a kind & I know in my heart she felt loved when she left us … We had Nala cremated & it only took about a week to get her back . They even made her a box for her ashes which is absolutely beautiful, some print outs of her paws that we will cherish forever. I can’t thank the staff enough for their gentle kindness, & grace. As tough as this situation has been for my family, I am grateful for how this was all handled. I seriously recommend this place for anyone who needs a place to take care of their furbaby…. THANK YOU SO MUCH GRANT PET HOSPITAL.
Fantastic experience: I’m a new resident to Missouri. I was having trouble adjusting to this new environment. I’d had a terrible experience with my initial contact with a vet and sitting service for my dog. Then, I found Dr. Ellie at Grant Pet Hospital after another long google search. I totally hit the jackpot! I was pleased with EVERYTHING about them. They were very professional, kind, compassionate, and supportive people who cared for my fur baby. In addition, my vet gave me loads of information to help my pup adjust to apartment living. This was the best decision I’d made since arriving here! I LOVE GRANT PET HOSPITAL!!
Fantastic experience: Took my dog in for a cough. The vet tech (I apologize for not remembering his name) was thorough in taking down all of the information and relaying it to the doctor. We saw doctor Ellie who worked well with my dog who can be a bit snarly. The problem was diagnosed and meds were prescribed. Two days later no more cough! Everyone from the vet tech to the doctor to the front office staff was friendly and helpful

Negative experience: I had a pet emergency and they wouldn't let me bring my dog in that I thought might be poisoned and a dislocated shoulder and let me pay on my payday and I work at the hospital here in town. I will let everybody know that they are not very compassionate or friendly or care about their patients. she wouldn't let me do that and would rather my dog die because I didn't have the money till payday, they have lost my business with both of my pets. they're not compassionate, caring. they all they care about is their money. in response to my review, you've asked me to call you and I did that yesterday. I offered to leave my bank card and my ID with you to keep to payday and you refused. Athena and blue are my dogs + I also told you I filed my taxes with bringing both of them in for their yearly and for anything they needed but at this I am so upset. I want to to find a different vet if Athena even makes it, I'm not sure what's wrong with her and have no clue what to do till I get paid and I seriously think she needs emergency care

Negative experience: I have already had a bad experience here of approximately the same style of issue, but it was a few years back. Hoping they had changed, I decided to try them again. One of my stray cats had an abscess and was very sick. And when I say sick, she smelled like rot. The rest of the vets I usually use were busy or had jacked up their prices. So I thought I’d give Grant Ave another try. Bad mistake. I had a feeling she wouldn’t make it. And I told the dr so. The infection was so bad it was affecting her neurologicaly. The dr came in and was happy to treat for a payment of almost $300 for antibiotics, draining the abscess and fluids. And an anti inflammatory. Which I should have known something was off when he said it would also help Lower her temperature. Her temp was already low at 98* cats are supposed to be at 102* he even told me that. He gave me hope. Said she should make it and be feeling better by tomorrow. I was so excited. Instead, we found her sprawled on our floor, having many seizures. Which after realizing what they were, she had been having them all day. Vet should have seen that. I held her through the rest of seizures until she passed. It was absolutely horrible and traumatizing! Note that putting her to sleep would have cost less. So either the vet didn’t know what he was doing, or he is a money hungry fraud. Either way should not be practicing. Vets name, unknown. He was shorter with glasses, gray hair and somewhat older.

Fantastic experience: I couldn't get my dog in to our regular vet to check on a possible ear infection but Grant Animal Hospital worked her in that same day. They were my vet when I lived about a mile away, when they were on Grant Ave, before I moved 15 miles out of town. They were excellent then, too. Thanks to the friendly staff, the vet's assistant and the vet.

Fantastic experience: First of all-when I called to make the appointment I was given an appointment the next day. When I arrived at the clinic I was put into a room very promptly with my cat and we were seen promptly by the doctor. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. I was allowed to go back with my pet and was asked multiple questions regarding her care. The last place I took my pet, I was not even allowed to go with her to the back and was only ask a few questions. I was treated with respect and courteousness the entire time I was there and we'll go back again wholeheartedly. I would highly recommend the Grant Street pet hospital to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I have nothing but wonderful things to say about every experience we have had here! Every single person who has been involved in our appointments has been so incredibly kind, patient, and helpful. From answering the phones, checking us in and out, the techs that assist with the visit, and Dr. Ellie, I can’t begin to express how grateful I am to have good people in charge of our dog’s care. I know that he will be taken care of and loved on and treated like he is their own. He loves going to the office and loves to see Dr. Ellie! She is so wonderful, so genuine, and so great at what she does. I dropped off my dog this morning for his procedure and once he was finished, during her lunch break, she brought him in her office, sat with him in her lap, all just to give him some extra love. Fantastic experience: Our dog, Kelly, received surgery for obstructed bowel on 12/12/24. The care she received was excellent! We’d like to thank her surgeon, Dr Tom Rouse, the nurses, techs, and the front staff. Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming here for 20 or more years. I’ve also been to almost every vet in town. I like this one a lot. It is a different veterinarian now and she is very easy to talk to and knowledgeable. Her assistant was also very nice. The front counter lady couldn’t give me prices on antibiotics when I got there but oh well it was a good trip overall.

Fantastic experience: My fur baby was having a hard time with back leg weakness and after calling Grant Pet Hospital, they got him in within a couple of hours. The front desk staff, the Dr assistant and the Dr herself,was very friendly and understanding of my concern and were very gentle with my baby. Very happy with the way he was taken care of and making sure I understood what they were doing and answered any questions I had. Definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: Love this place! Went to the urgent care for my little chihuahua for an anal gland abscess that ruptured. Ellie helped us and the staff were very friendly! We will continue to come back to this vet. Very nice and clean facility as well.
