Fantastic experience: We've brought all our dogs to LFSAH since 1996. The doctors and staff are kind to animals and humans alike. It's not the same people here now as when we started, but over 20+ years you would expect there to be some change. The prices are not low--but everything is expensive these days. Staff and doctors are respectful, patient, and want the best for the animals.

Fantastic experience: Always a pleasure to "see" Dr. Costin and staff! My dog, Jake, got his necessary vaccinations and off we went to training class. I liked the new system of dropping Jake off and picking him up, I was able to go get gas and lunch while he was getting his exam.

Fantastic experience: My dog and cat have both been seeing Dr. Emily Talwar for any treatment. She is loving and caring and they are always happy to see her. She genuinely cares about her patients and I am lucky to have her as their vet.

Fantastic experience: I have always had great experiences with every member of the staff here. The receptionists are extremely helpful on the phone and during check in/out, the techs are always super knowledgeable and lovely with the animals (even my very vet-anxious girl), and the vast majority of the vets have been great and transparent during exams. Prices are as reasonable as it gets. Take advantage of promotions, and know that estimates for surgery/dental cleanings here are usually below the lowest quoted estimate.

Negative experience: Pricing for thyroid panel blood tests were quoted at $650+, which seems ridiculously high. Ive never had a quote this high for bloodwork. Ended up costing $95 to find out cost of blood tests. Vet kept trying to upsell.Definitely confirm service pricing before your appointment. I came here based on good reviews and will not be going back. PS Los Angeles Veterinary Center in boyle heights charges $62 for exam and the bloodwork was $224.

Fantastic experience: Dr Freedberg treated our cat Timmy for a suspected recurring allergy. She was very thorough and caring with her exam and Timmy is feeling much better!

Negative experience: Endangered my cat's health, twice, by denying him prescribed medication and blaming it on policy, instead of following recommended care by the vet. I do not trust my pets with this clinic and would recommend the same for you.

Fantastic experience: knowledgeable, friendly, available when I need them. also honest. I have complete trust in them. My dog had an EKG and a teeth cleaning under anesthesia. Everything went well. The staff was prepared and did an exceptionally good job. Also very easy communicating with the veterinarian. It was two positive experiences. I couldn't ask for more.

Fantastic experience: I always feel like my dogs are in safe hands at LFSAH. Everyone who works there is kind and helps explain things to us, and most importantly of all, after our dogs are seen they are always better, which I absolutely cannot say for every vet we’ve been to.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Talwar in los feliz small animal hospital did a wonderful job treating my dog and made sure all of my questions were answered. Her professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail really stood out. It’s clear she truly cares about her patients. I felt confident that my dog (Happy) was in great hands. The staff was also friendly and professional. I’m very greatful for the excellent care and highly recommend Dr. Talwar.

Fantastic experience: The staff in front are dedicated and attentive, and the doctor and techs were thorough but didn’t overstress my dog. What really stands out is that the doctor didn’t try to upsell me on any vaccines or additional tests or treatments, and even cut a couple of vaccines from the orders because they weren’t applicable to our lifestyle. That is the complete opposite from the predatory VCA business model, and for that I will always recommend this clinic.

Negative experience: Went in for a routine checkup in Nov 2023. My kitten had survived panleukopenia and was feeling much better. I took her to this place to get her established with a regular vet. After x-rays, Dr Khouban told me my cat had a swollen heart and liver, that they could drop dead from heart failure any minute. They also saw the kibble my cat had eaten that morning in the X-ray, and asked if I had been feeding them garbage or litter. Makes sense... The vet had me in tears and said we should start my cat on heart meds ASAP and sent me to the cardiologist at ACCESS (this place has real doctors thank goodness). After spending $1500 on the heart meds, an echocardiogram, plus more blood work, and a lot of crying and grieving for my cat who was going to die any second, the cardiologist said my cat's heart was absolutely normal and so was their liver. And to immediately stop giving her the heart meds she had been prescribed, that Dr Khouban didn't read the xrays correctly and was reporting what was enlarged imaging in the X-ray as organ enlargement. This was hands down the worst vet I've never seen. Anguish, desperation, and unnecessary money spent. If I could give -10 as a rating to a vet, I would. I don't know how UC Irvine graduated this person. This was 2 years ago, and my cat is doing fabulously. Google sent me an email to look at my reviews over the years, and I realized I never updated this review to warn people. Better late than never, I suppose.

Fantastic experience: I am so thankful to have LFSAH to bring our cats to for routine and emergency visits (we've had both)! Even more thankful that we joined Pumpkin insurance through our vet's reccomendation as it's made the majority of our visits that much more financially accessible. Negative experience: Pretty much the same sentiment as every other 1 star review. Fine for regular check ups and whatever but any actual issues with your pet please avoid this place for all the reasons mentioned in other low reviews.

Fantastic experience: Everyone here was so friendly! My cat Nero is 14 years old and hadn’t been to the vet in quite some time, but after he caught fleas I did some research and was able to easily book an appointment online. Everyone working was so nice and helpful and were upfront about the pricing for the services necessary and what they recommended for future appointments! What could have been a stressful situation turned into an easy and positive experience and I will definitely be coming back!

Fantastic experience: We loved dr ehlinger and his team. Their reception and technicians are excellent as well. They don't give you sketchy care plans that promote several returns to grind money out of you. My frenchie had terrible allergies and we spent years with expensive shots for him at a different clinic with patchy results. We decided to switch clinicians 3 months ago. Dr ehlinger guided us with giving him apoquel, frequent medicated baths and exclusion diet and it was miraculous. My dog is so much happier. It didn't require us to come back monthly and shell out hundreds every visit like our last place. We appreciated that they gave us the most direct path to healing our boy. We had two visits with the DVM in total. Worth every penny and handled with so much care and given time for questions and to assuage worry. We're so happy we found this clinic! Thank you so much!

Fantastic experience: Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital did great! My partner was the one who brought our puppy, Zuki, and he shared so many good things about Dr. Ryan Ehlinger, DVM—he is truly the best! I loved hearing from my partner how Dr. Ryan even shared stories about his own dogs, and I hope I get to see his Westie sometime because I’ve always dreamed of having one The hospital made it super easy to book—we got a same-day appointment and everything went smoothly. The only small thing is the front desk could improve a bit with assisting customers. My partner had questions about spaying, but they couldn’t help him at the moment. Totally understandable since they’re busy, but it would’ve only taken a few minutes. Overall, Zuki got excellent care and we’re so happy with the experience!

Negative experience: I brought my dog in for a full blood workup, but the vet never called with any updates. When I called the office, I was told that my phone number had been entered incorrectly in their system, and the only answer I got was, “the results came back normal.” While that’s good to hear, it doesn’t help me figure out what was wrong with my dog. I do not recommend this vet and the front desk staff is also unfriendly.

Negative experience: The never checked for my initial complaint and then gas lit me because they didn’t have it in the notes. Then charge me $75 for a re examination fee. Bummer

Fantastic experience: This is our 2nd time taking our chihuahua in for a check up on paw licking and butt scooting and last one was she was limping. Love the way it has been explained to us what is going on and what we can do initially and if it doesn't work then the next step.

Fantastic experience: I wish I had taken my dog awhile back to this vet… I had originally taken her to Gateway in Los Feliz but once they became a member of VCA and the vet we liked left, the quality of care went down and my dog had bad experiences that now make her very reactive with the vet. They never once offered a “Chill Protocol” for my dog to help lessen anxiety. Since going to Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital, my dog has been able to get a full work up and the meds she needs as a senior dog, and yes… she even seems happier now and with more energy. They know how to handle her gently with being aware of her past and they treat her with gentle compassion. These guys are great!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Freedberg is always great. She's got a good bedside manner with our dog (funny I know, but true) and we can tell she really cares about her patients. LFSAH always takes good care of our dog.

Negative experience: This review does not come lightly as I’ve had both good and bad experiences here. After years of taking our beloved pet here and thousands of dollars spent - For the second time she left (we only went to address her weight) and took a turn for the worst. We went in for her weightloss and they recommended “bloodwork” and now she’s on the brink of her life. It was only a split second decision to bring her back as most of the time we travel all the way to UC Davis for her care.. because we love her so much and we have had bad experiences at Los Feliz before but we thought it was such a small ask that it would be okay and now she’s fighting for her life. After taking her for another visit elsewhere it looks like she was stressed out (at LFSAH) to the point of having such a flare up that now she’s fighting for her life. As a senior dog we expect gentle compassionate and considerate care for our girl and somehow everytime we go here she’s afraid and leaves crying and looking terrified which isn’t a surprise as There are always dogs scream crying in the back. (This response does not happen at other places) I don’t know what they did to her or what they do to pets but I can only imagine they handle them roughly, rush and throw them in cages. I feel horrible knowing it was my fault for bringing her back here even though I knew better. In the past there have been other upsets here but I thought we’d give them one more try as we were only visiting for weight loss concerns. They always push extra costs, often trying to charge for things that aren’t needed.. and the level of care has gone in the trash. I have to over advocate and ask endless questions in order to establish what’s going on.. there’s only one doctor I’ve had there (Dr.Talwar) who is great but it’s random selection if you get that same one. It’s always a different doctor who has no clue who your pet is, even though we’ve gone there for close to 5 years.. it feels like a first visit everytime. In the past I’ve asked for a specific vet to avoid others and then felt I was gaslit and treated poorly for even asking such a thing. In my opinion - there’s gaps in care and team, they’re always in a rush, they don’t genuinely care, they only want money, and I can’t name a time when they’ve truly helped. Years back they told me it was “time to say goodbye” to my dog which was unbelievably traumatizing.. we took her elsewhere and saved her life but their mentality was just that it was time for me to let it go with no other options just a casual “it’s probably time to say goodbye” —- it wasn’t and thank god I didn’t listen. It’s my fault for coming back here now against my intuition as now we’re fighting for her life and I hate myself for it. Please listen to my warnings and go elsewhere.. they do not have it together. I can recommend going to UC Davis for major issues and Papaya pet locally for people who genuinely care and lower costs that are not a venture capital. I’ve waited years to write this review but enough is enough. If you love your pets please take them somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: I had a very good experience at this clinic. The service, attitude, and quality of care were all at a high level. I especially appreciated the way the doctor built a trusting relationship with my dog — it made the visit much easier and more comfortable.

Fantastic experience: We were staying in Atwater Village for an extended family visit. We traveled from Philadelphia with our dog. 10 days into the trip our cherished pet got “sick as a dog”. We were walking distance to Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital and made an appointment. The first available appointment was a few days away, but receptionist still showed great empathy and gave us some good advice to follow until our pet could be seen. Once arrived for our appointment a kind and gentle technician reviewed our case almost immediately. We were taken to a small exam room. Dr. Talwar was equally kind, knowledgeable and compassionate. She evaluated Chewie and prescribed medications to solve his problem. This is an amazing facility and if I lived here they would become my full time Vet. Efficient, warm and compassionate, reasonable prices and quick service.

Fantastic experience: Great vets, reasonably priced and my little dog isn’t scared of them! Grommet had his shots this week and he was not terrified and everyone was very kind

Positive experience: The tele appt with Doctor Elden was perfect. It was an opportunity to talk candidly about what was going on without distractions. And she was able to see Bowie and some of his issues via camera. This would be 5 star accept when I received a list from the clinic of potential tests, prescriptions, etc. that MAY be needed if the diet switch does not work, the costs were extremely high. I know vet care has gone up, but the prices were way higher than the vet in my neighborhood. So the people experience was great, cost for the visit, fine, but the other costs are just out of range for most people. I may have to seek options for lab tests elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Great care for our dog, and unlike Mohawk where we used to go, reasonable rates and we got to accompany our dog while he was with the vet so we KNOW he’s ok. Instead of being given a quote and having to agree to it and pay it….whatever number they give me….before they’ll bring my dog out. LFSAH is my new vet!

Fantastic experience: Another good appointment under pandemic conditions. Staff (wearing protective gear) picked up our dog from their parking area at the appointment time and took notes about what we wanted the doctor to look at during her exam. About 15 minutes later, the doctor called us we while we waited in our car to discuss our dog's examination. Our talk was detailed and not rushed at all. We also had our dog get her rabies shot, nails clipped and a prescription refilled. Payment was made remotely by phone and our dog was returned to us by staff with her rabies certificate, prescriptions and receipt. We have been going to Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital for years now and we have never had a bad appointment or been disappointed with their in house or follow up care and customer service. I highly recommend them

Negative experience: Honestly, I’m still processing the whole experience. Took my cats in who needed to be dewormed. The Dr. dewormed them without having confirmation of which type of parasite they had. He went based off of me saying it was - white worm like and poking in and out. I am not a microbiologist, nor am I a microscope. Pretty sure that’s why stool samples are sent to labs to get verified. He calls and leaves a voicemail the following day saying that the dewormer they gave is the wrong one. So, not only did my cats get the wrong dewormer that I paid for, I had to bring them back in and pay again to get the right injection. Wouldn’t the common sense move be to come in drop off stool samples, test the samples, THEN deworm? My cats HATE the car and the carrier. It’s a 20 min process to get them in a carrier. I just feel scammed.

Fantastic experience: Judging by how calm and perky my cat was after a nail trim, I’d say he had a good time in good hands!

Fantastic experience: I take my dog to Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital for routine care, including nail trims, vaccines, and dental cleanings. Every visit has been a pleasant experience, and my nervous dog seems to feel pretty comfortable around the staff, all things considered! I started taking my dog here for nail trims because he wouldn’t let me do it at home (despite lots of treat bribes and an extra set of hands). I took him to a groomer, and she struggled too. The vet techs at LFSAH must have the magic touch or something, because he’s in and out in less than 10 mins and always looks to be in good spirits. They always make suggestions with good customer service in mind, and the front desk folks are super sweet. Hopefully, we’ll never be in a predicament where more intensive care is needed, but I trust that my dog is in good hands at LFSAH!

Fantastic experience: I love Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital! This is where I take my elderly cat and my brand new puppy and they are both always handled with love and care. When I was unemployed, the vets and staff were also always non-judgmental when I couldn’t afford certain treatments would always try and meet me where I’m at. Everyone seems happy to work there, as well. I have no complaints!

Fantastic experience: Finding a good vet in LA used to be rather easy. There were tons of small shops where the veterinarians cared about your animals and you weren’t gouged for routine services. Then corporations began to consume all those single owner offices in favor of McDonalds style care with caviar prices. I brought my animals to Los Feliz Small Animal decades ago and liked it- but then found a better and closer vet- who has now been shuttered by the waves of corporate vets. I think LFSA has too been bought up but at least their vets are good. Far far better than many other vets in LA. Their prices are quite steep and I can’t help but feel taken advantage of at times, especially when there is an emergency- but you can usually get an appointment the same day & the care is excellent. I really do like all their vets, the staff is quite kind & the worst is always reasonable. And it’s easy parking and they’ll stay open a bit late (shhhhh) for an emergency. All in all I won’t go any place else in the area. After reading some older reviewsI want add that about six months ago they had an absolutely horrible receptionist. If you encountered her, you know exactly what I’m talking about, but she is no longer there and so you can count on the current office staff to be helpful, cooperative, friendly, and they will fit you in if it’s an emergency.

Fantastic experience: excellent vet!! I brought my two 4 year old Devon Rexes in for an annual exam, gabapentin prescription for a flight, and addressing of a leaky eye. the friendly staff showed so much genuine care and affection for my pets and had familiarity with their breed. they were straightforward with costs and with which treatments were optional or able to be delayed. this is a pleasant contrast with previous veterinary hospitals that had a very impersonal approach to their care and did not have any knowledge of Devons. they either incorrectly assumed my cats were kittens (they're not - Devons are just tend to be petite) or that the lack of fur was a medical issue (that's how they're supposed to look! haha). while this visit was for relatively standard, mild care, I feel very good about taking my girls here should a serious medical issue ever occur.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience here with Dr Avra! He really cared about my pup and was super knowledgeable. He was really helpful and had excellent suggestions for my dogs’ care and didn’t really try to upsell or push services that we didn’t need. It was a nice change of pace from what i’ve experienced so many other places. Even though it was a great experience overall, they were slightly pricier than another place i’ve been to for services and for medicine. The pain meds for my dog were marked up like 3 to 4 times the amount than other places charge.

Negative experience: I’m not sure why this is so well rated. Their communication has always been a bit difficult, and the doctors are dismissive of concerns, clearly looking to get in and out. But I assumed they were effective when it counted. Then recently dog was limping so they said surgery. Over $5k later, when he was limping during recovery I couldn’t get them to check how he was healing. They didn’t offer any follow up to check their work. And when trying to reach out, they don’t return phone calls. Finally after multiple calls, I got them to just schedule an appointment months after the surgery. After a very quick inspection and an Xray, they say he’s where they hoped, and I should go see a specialist if I have any more concerns, of course for another $300. But his knee still pops when it bends, and he still limps, but they say the surgery is perfect. I will be looking for a second opinion, and a new vet.

Negative experience: Paid $850 to get a procedure done on my dog. He was there from 9:30am-2pm. When I picked him up they turned him in with watery poop all over his bum his tail and back legs. Mind you he has had procedures done here before and every time I pick him up he has a very very bad smell. This time he was covered is poop. I called and demanded some answers, which no one in that office was able to provide. According to them he didn’t have an accident, he wasn’t taken out to use the restroom and the “kennels were clean”. They denied to clean him up for me until the next day. They kept gaslighting me saying that he didn’t have poop on him. That he pooped in my car ONCE he got in. That their kennels were clean. No one wanted to investigate, because they don’t have cameras where the kennels are. Obviously the kennels were not clean it seems as though my poor dog was sitting in shit alll day long. Don’t bring ur pets here. They will smell really bad when you pick them up. And their kennels are not sanitary. Extremely disgusting and unprofessional. For $850, this was extremely disappointing. Never coming back here. Ever.

Fantastic experience: Everyone at the Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital is so friendly and helpful. We brought our kitty to the drop off appointment and they took care of her quickly and with great care. The doctor was so thorough, knowledgeable and informative. Fantastic experience: I want to thank Los Feliz Small animal hospital for amazing care of my lovely cats and in particular my young cat Calvin! I had taken Calvin to one of the chain vets and got a very generic all clear from them. I was lucky enough to know Dr Talwar from Los Feliz small animal hospital- and she offered to neuter him as they didn't have time for a while yet. THANK GOD she did because when I took him for an initial examination, she caught the fact that he had a devastating ear infection and VERY low white blood cell count. Poor guy was exhausted, and needing FAST care! Doctor Talwar went to lengths to get the right test and prognosis​ (consulting multiple experts) and because of that he healed up into the most beautiful boisterous boy kitten a girl could ask for. God knows what would have happened if I had stayed at the generic place :/ Calvin made a full recovery and was safe finally to get his neuter from the wonderful Dr Emily Talwar this week!!! He's usually shy but loves her as she has such a way with all animals. The neuter went great - he is now chilling with his adopted sister- happy healthy boy!!! THANK YOU Dr. Talwar. I couldn't recommend Los Feliz Small Animal hospital more!! ❤️

Fantastic experience: Once again, Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital impresses us with their expertise, kindness and professionalism. We have been taking our dog here for the past five years and they have always gone above and beyond. Every single visit, whether it’s for a wellness check-up, vaccinations, teeth cleaning, illness or grooming, has been excellent. Juan Fabela deserves special recognition. We bring our weird and anxious dog in every few months for a grooming and I don’t know how Juan does it, but he manages to calm Moops down (no small feat) and expertly groom him. Thank you, Juan!

Fantastic experience: It’s hard to overstate my appreciation of this small organization, with whom I have been with for 10 years strong. Every one of the passionate, hardworking and dedicated professionals have literally enabled me to keep my cat alive and thriving. Fantastic experience: My 2 year old puppy had been scratching around his eyes for a couple weeks. Los Feliz Small Animal hospital fit him in between appointments, did a holistic screening, and saw that he had conjunctivitis and sent him home with an anabiotic steroid and suggested an allergy shot. And they were so cheerful about the whole thing! Really nice staff and great work.

Fantastic experience: I take my Jindo pup here regularly and I’m very satisfied with the service. They get busy sometimes but I never feel like the service suffers as a result. They’re always very responsive to questions. Even the receptionist was able to provide some helpful info in one call. Good place with good people.

Fantastic experience: As the human responsible for two giant breeds, it is a joy to come to such a welcoming environment. Everyone is friendly and attentive to the health issues of each of our crew.

Negative experience: This place seems more like a money-making machine than a vet. I called to ask for a general price range or even a rough cost cap for a spay procedure, fully understanding that the final price might vary based on specific circumstances and my dog’s details. However, they outright refused to provide any estimate and insisted you pay for an initial appointment just to find out the cost - essentially forcing you to spend money before you can even decide if their services are affordable. A lack of transparency like this makes it hard to trust their priorities and is a huge red flag. I’d rather go to a vet that values pet care over unnecessary charges.

Negative experience: It’s unfortunate I have to do this but I had a pretty bad experience yesterday (2/1/25) when I called to see if they had any emergency appointments available. The phone was answered by a receptionist who never gave me her name and had pretty terrible bed side manner. I had made an appointment online but wanted to see if they had any emergency appointments available and when I called I explained the situation and was met by a harsh ‘we don’t have anything until Tuesday’ and when I mentioned I felt it was an emergency she said again ‘we don’t have anything until Tuesday’. While I understand there was a scheduling conflict, a little kindness would have made a large difference. The receptionist said she could move my appointment to earlier on Tuesday and I figured that’s better than nothing and agreed and then she just hung up on me, never sending an updated confirmation. Needless to say I cancelled my appointment and found vet that could help me sooner. I won’t be returning to Los Feliz, which is unfortunate because the doctors seemed great but reception left a bad taste in my mouth and now there is a lack of trust.

Negative experience: I have gone to almost every vet in LA over the half decade I’ve lived here so I can with confidence say this place was a complete waste of money — at least w the vet I had. She kept dismissing my cat’s medical history and rather than talk through actual medicine spent the time mostly talking about Chinese astrology and the sex of my pet? The actual medical advice she squeezed at the end was something I could easily google and they didn’t even take the stool sample I brought in at the end. Was not worth the $200-300

Fantastic experience: All the vets here are incredibly knowledgeable and kind, I feel my cat is in great care here. It would be very easy to recommend a mountain of medicine and treatments for my senior cat, but I appreciate Dr. Freedberg's honesty and empathy about my cat's care; only suggesting the most beneficial and least stressful solutions.

Fantastic experience: I have taken my dog, Pickle, to Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital for the past 4 years and I have nothing but positive things to say. The veterinary staff is very friendly and they treat my doggy with kindness, respect, and tenderness even when she isn't the most easy of patients!! The administrative staff is incredibly helpful, as well. One time I needed my dog's vaccination records very urgently and they sent over the documents within 5 minutes!! Their promptness really saved the day. If you have a dog or cat, I'd recommend taking them here!

Fantastic experience: Great clinic that’s been around for a very long time. The facilities may be not as fancy as some of the other vets around the area but you’re not paying huge fees to cover those fancy offices. The staff are friendly & helpful. The vets & vet techs are so sweet with both of my dogs & took such good care when one of them needed surgery. Thank you LFSAH!

Fantastic experience: I’ve taken my corgipoo pup to Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital for an exam with the vet and for his remaining rounds of vaccines, and the staff here have been amazing each time! Not only have they treated my little guy with so much love and care, but prices are reasonable especially for the location. Scheduling has always been a breeze, and they also use an app which I find super helpful.

Positive experience: It's okay, but we were looking for the best low-cost vetanary hospital for our dogs. For a dental cleaning for a 10 yr old pet and the removal of a 1/2 inch small tumor on the belly of our pet, our quote was $ 2500 plus additional charges. So, it's not so low cost after all...

Negative experience: I really tried to like this vet from seeing all the good reviews but upon taking my cat there, the service and demeanor is below subpar. To start off, the receptionists are extremely rude and unprofessional. (Especially the one with the red hair) If you ask them questions they seem to be annoyed or cut you off when trying to address certain concerns or just what you’re there for. Our cat is in kidney failure and has been bounced around from 3 different doctors there. When we have questions or concerns and ask to speak to the doctors, they are never available to speak with us in person or go over lab results. Resulting in us constantly having to call and even when we do we are left leaving messages that go unanswered for weeks at a time. If you’re looking for a vet that cares about your pet and your concerns this is not the place to go. I don’t recommend sending your pet here.

Fantastic experience: It’s nice to totally trust your vet. It’s also so clear how much everybody loves animals here. They’re so sweet to our cats and take all the time we need to answer our questions.

Negative experience: It pains me to write this review as when we moved to LA mid pandemic, LFSAH was a little haven we could rely upon for all our veterinary needs. I felt safe entrusting my pup in their hands. As time went on, I began to notice the swift changeover of staff, meeting a new tech, vet or receptionist staff member with each appointment. I have a generally healthy dog so appointments were routine vaccine, wellness or faecal tests. It became increasingly difficult to get through to the receptionist telephone line, without being left on hold and forgotten about. Continuity of care started to become scattered. Last week my pup was examined for what turned out to be a fractured tooth. She was scheduled for surgery with a drop off time between 7.30 and 8am. We arrived at 7.40am, among two other patients, both of which were hand delivered the same information as me. Expect pick up to be between 1 and 2pm, with 4pm being the latest finishing time. I had opted on our pre surgical form to be called before any extraction tooth place, this detail of which I double clarified with one of the staff members. A little perturbed, I called the clinic at 12.55pm, wondering why I hadn’t received any notification of surgery. I was told by the receptionist the vet techs were with her currently and that I’d receive a call in an hour. By 3pm, no communication had been received, so I called the clinic back and was promptly put on hold for about eight minutes. Finally I’m transferred to the vet performing the dental extraction, who tells me my pup has just been placed under anaesthesia, her tooth ready to be pulled. The blood drains from my face “she’s been waiting in the clinic all day?” I ask. “Yes” the doctor answers. “Was she sedated? I inquire. “No she wasn’t sedated.” The vet proceeds to tell me about a patient delay but in the back of my mind I’m falling off a cliff. My very anxious dog, who starts physically shaking the moment we roll up to the vet, has been waiting in a cage in the place she’s fearful of the most, for eight hours? Not having eaten or drunk any water since 9pm the evening before? Now, I’m not a doctor or chemist or hormone specialist but I don’t think it takes a genius to wonder what the effect of prolonged adrenal activity among other stress factors has on an animal going under anaesthesia and having a bone pulled out from an exposed nerve in her jaw. It can’t be a healthy or helpful state to promote a speedy and safe recovery. I was actually very impressed with the empathy and understanding the veterinarian showed me, however I can’t say the same for a curt curly haired receptionist. The vet asked me if I would have preferred to have been notified of the delay, opening up the possibility to opt for an alternative day. This definitely would have been appreciated, but at the very least, I don’t understand why I wasn’t consulted or kept in the loop at all about what had transpired. To add insult to injury, my pup experienced excess bleeding after the extraction, which reoccured when she emerged from the anaesthesia and her blood pressure increased. Funny what stress and a fearful environment does to an otherwise very healthy (so the blood results from last week claim) dog. A very unnecessary, cruel and disappointing experience.

Fantastic experience: Everyone at Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital has always been warm, helpful, and seemed genuinely invested in the health and happiness of the animals they treat. My cat has always received the quality care she needs and I'm always happy to have her treated in a supportive environment. Their veterinarians, techs, and admin staff are always helpful, accommodating, and incredibly sweet. My ever scaredy-cat tortie has gotten steadily less and less scared of vet trips since we began coming here (see bravery growth pics below!). Even the small issues we've experienced in the past have been quickly resolved with good communication and sincere apologies. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Always great at LFSAH! We love it and so does our dog! Alania was fantastic with our dog AND entertaining our toddler at the same time. Dr. Aura is so caring and calm while working with our pup. We never have any concerns dropping off our little.

Fantastic experience: Good ambiance but pain n suffering for my tuxedo cat after spending about $380 with no prescription. Vet wanted to squeeze every dollar from her clients by referral to some other specialist that means more money you are going to spend. My cat just have a cold, lethargic and poor appetite for couple weeks but the lady vet recommended dialysis which a danger procedure cuz my late Paulina died after couple days treatment so I am extra precaution about it. Thank God, my cat is still drinking n eating.

Fantastic experience: Our experience was wonderful and worlds apart from another nearby vet. I am so relieved to find people that are so knowledgeable, kind, warm and generous with their time (and also very transparent with services and pricing). We will be coming here from now on!

Fantastic experience: This is a great facility!! All the doctors are really great and very knowledgeable. There are never any bogus charges or unnecessary tests they push you into doing. You always feel like you're getting a thorough check up for your pet. Even though it's not the closest animal hospital for us, we come here over other closer facilities because they are so much better.

Fantastic experience: I want to thank Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital for being so good to my pup Ringo over the past few years of his life. They have always been honest and up front with me about medical issues that arose and near the end of his life, helped me make a very hard decision to help him let go. Fantastic experience: We are big fans for this animal hospital. We came from another place that shall remain nameless (—jk it was VCA Gateway and I’ll never go back!) where our pup was treated with a lot of prejudice. She’s a giant breed that can appear intimidating, but we did not appreciate the unprovoked hostility of the VCA vets toward our gentle giant. Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital has been nothing short of incredible - they immediately understood our dog’s needs and are always very responsive to every question and concern we have. I’ve never had to wait long upon arrival and never felt overcharged. Once, we forgot to ask about dental cleanings inside the room and another vet who happened to be in the waiting room jumped in to answer our question, without hesitation. The front desk is super friendly and helpful too. I can’t speak highly enough of this team. I was referred here by my sister who had a great experience with her 2 small dogs. My pup and I are so glad we found LFSAH.

Fantastic experience: We really likes Dr. Freedberg. She was good with my dog and was up to date with the latest treatment for his knee arthritis. She called me personally with his lab results even though they were all normal.

Negative experience: Reviews are so deceiving. Switched to this vet because of high rating and closer to home only to walk into an owner yelling at the receptionist for misinforming him about his dog and medication. I stayed because my pup had an ear infection and just wanted to get it taken care of asap but I do not trust them with pricing or my dog’s health. Also the vet kept giving my dog cheez wiz when I said no. Messed her stomach up for days and I try really hard to not give her processed foods and she’s also very lactose intolerant so if I say no, why would you continue to feed her that trash? Also after I paid my bill of 260 for an ear infection, they forgot to give me back my dog. I watched the clock and waited for about 10min thinking maybe they were still doing check ups then finally asked where she was and they just said “oops sorry, we’ll go get her” like what they left her in the back and forgot to give her back to me.

Fantastic experience: They are always very attentive of my dogs and pay special attention to their many needs. They also don't unnecessarily push any vaccines or medications on you just to do it, which is nice. Overall very knowledable and friendly staff. Some vets I definitely prefer to others but overall will continue to bring my dog there.

Fantastic experience: Out of any animal hospitals I have been to, los feliz animal hospital is one of the only ones I trust and feel comfortable treating my animals. They really try to find the problem and if you are someone that has older animals like me, they work with you on the pricing if you may have to come in so often. One of my dogs has a slipped disc and it has become very difficult for him to walk at times. They truly care and treat both of them exactly how you'd want to be treated. They listen for the problem and really buckle down to try to find exactly the best way to help them. Other places I feel I spend thousands of dollars and still don't have answers but not here. I get the answers I am looking for and they work on a treatment plan to best help them live out the rest of their golden years. Every employee here has treated both of my pups (buck and boo) as their own, they even remember them and their names. My puggle (diabetic/blind) has separation anxiety and is also very judgemental of other animals/humans. She gets wary when we first get in but as soon as the doctor sees her she comes up to my puggle and gives her a big hug and even gives her a kiss on her head and I can see the anxiety disappear from my pups face. My pup struggles so hard with strangers so it's a relief knowing that she feels comfortable if I have to leave her alone with them. Same for my big dog buck, he never wants me to leave but when we get there and they see him everyone starts singing and praising his name, "aw buck!", "hi buck!" And he starts doing his tippy tap dance and becomes instantly comfortable.

Fantastic experience: My dog, Boris is traditionally very nervous and stressed at the vet. I think he is mostly just "protecting" me, but I still worry. At Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital he is just a TINY bit worried, and overall allows the friendly staff to handle him in a way where everyone, including Boris, is comfortable. I couldn't be happier and are glad that LFSAH serves my 60 lb baby.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Khouban is one of the most informed, kindest, and conscious vets I've had the pleasure of taking my sweet kitten, Kya, to visit. As a cat-mom, I'm very careful who I trust my animals with, and I trust Dr. Khouban because you can feel that she loves her job and the animals under her wing. I brought Kya in for pre-op bloodwork before spaying and it came back abnormal. Dr. Khouban treated both Kya and myself with the utmost care. I really value having found someone I feel comfortable looking after my little one. My deepest thank you to her! Also, the front desk ladies are so efficient and informative! I've always had such a pleasant experience here, so bring your pets in and know they'll go above and beyond (...and ask for Dr. Khouban)!

Fantastic experience: We used to go to Larchmont but they are horrible so immediately switched and all of the appointments have gone well at Los Feliz Animal Hospital. The staff is helpful and explain processes thoroughly. No surprises when billing either they go ahead and tell you about it and most importantly they treat animals with kindess.

Fantastic experience: Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital has been our go-to for years and will continue to be. Their staff has taken expert care of our kitties and our vet, Dr. Freedberg is so engaged and genuine, we always feel our feline family members are in the best hands.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic medical care and doctors who really REALLY care! Love LFSMH! They always fit us in if there is anything urgent. Also we can get any meds we might need as well as special food as needed from them during a visit. Our dog loves them and is not even scared when we go there, which is amazing.

Positive experience: Always a positive experience. Waiting area is modest but clean and nice smelling as are exam rooms. Price seems high - but care is always right on, accurate and thus reduces revisits so become more cost effective. Staff is excellent, kind and detail orientated. Sad that it is no longer owned/run by Dr. Kostin and/or his family - wish that transition was more transparent. But quality remains high.
