Negative experience: Zero Stars I am extremely disappointed and heartbroken by the care my dog received here after what should have been a routine neuter. After the surgery, my dog was clearly not healing properly and was acting abnormal. I brought him back to the clinic multiple times expressing concern that something was wrong. Each time, we were sent home without the issue being properly addressed. Had the situation been taken seriously earlier, my dog likely would not have suffered the catastrophic complication that followed. At home, adjacent to the surgical site ultimately opened into a large hole in his abdomen, which was horrifying to witness and incredibly traumatic. He was in severe pain and distress. What followed was just as troubling. My dog was seen by multiple different veterinarians with no continuity of care, each with different opinions and approaches. This lack of coordination led to further suffering and confusion during an already frightening situation. Instead of being hospitalized for proper care, he was sent home with a large open wound and a wet pack roughly the size of a grapefruit stitched to his abdomen, making home care extremely difficult and distressing. I was required to bring him in daily for bandage changes. During those visits, I could hear my dog screaming in the back, which was heartbreaking. Pain management was also a serious concern. It did not feel like his pain was being taken seriously until I strongly advocated for better medication. At one point, a veterinarian even referred to my dog as a “drama queen,” which I found incredibly insensitive given that he had a significant portion of his abdomen exposed and was undergoing painful procedures. Communication and professionalism from the clinic also deteriorated. When I attempted to escalate my concerns, the client liaison refused to allow me to speak with anyone else and claimed there was no one above them because the clinic had been sold to corporate ownership. Initially, the clinic seemed to acknowledge responsibility by waiving some follow-up visits. However, when I requested reimbursement for the thousands of dollars already spent trying to address complications from this routine procedure, I was told they should not have waived anything and that I would need to file a complaint with the state. They also stated that any further care related to this complication would now be charged. I had been a loyal client of this practice for 14 years, which makes this experience even more devastating. What should have been a routine surgery turned into a traumatic and painful ordeal for my dog, compounded by poor communication, lack of accountability, and inadequate compassion. I hope sharing this experience encourages the clinic to take complications seriously, provide better continuity of care, and treat both pets and their owners with the empathy they deserve.

Fantastic experience: I had to bring in my Khana, a very sweet German Shepherd, she had very low energy at 10.5 years old. They did inhouse blood tests and ultrasound and informed me that she had a cancerious spleen and was bleeding out. We had very little time left. The care and compassion we recieved was incredible. The Dr. and the assistant Jake were so caring and compassionate and explained what was happening and our options. This was around 4pm on a Sunday, they even found an at home euthenasia service that could assist Khana's passing that evening. All this was such a heartbreaking suprise for us. I wish I had been taking Khana here since we got her as this is the best Vet clinic I have EVER been to. Also, the prices for blood work and the ultrasound were half that of my primary vet. I highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: The front desk team is friendly to the furbabies and the parents putting everyone at ease. Tina was friendly knowledgeable and caring with Gus. He left the same way he came in — happy and singing the song of his people. Moving here two years ago we had to find a new everything but we are grateful East Padden was recommended by some many people. They have been exceptional to both of our furbabies.

Fantastic experience: We took our chihuahua in for a couple of shots and to have a growth on his leg looked at and we were so impressed with how warm and helpful Charlotte was. Fantastic experience: My family and I have been going to East Padden for many years. While there have been many changes and new faces I can always trust my furry family members with them. From the doctors to the techs they are always open about cost and know that there are budgets and are always willing to work with you. They even provide community resources so that we can look for additional finances to help. I cannot tell you how nice it is to have that be available. It is saved us a couple times. Fantastic experience: We made an error and arrived early for Our tech appointment. They were kind enough to work us in instead of returning. I believe the techs name Was Charolette. I could be wrong. She was fabulous!! So kind to us and Roxy. She was just a ray of sunshine who clearly loves animals. Roxy loves her visits (she’s not the norm) to EPAH.

Negative experience: We left East Padden after about 3 years of frustrating care. The final issue was their inability to handle our oldest cat with care or safety, aggravating him and his back pain while administering routine vaccines (this has never occurred anywhere else). Other complaints include changing prescription prices without transparency, inability to remember/document the cancer diagnosis (that they made) for our oldest dog, and a constant rotation of staff that made continuity of care impossible. This clinic clearly prioritizes maximizing numbers over quality care. We have since moved to Horizon Veterinary Care and are thrilled with their transparency and attentiveness and highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Edit: a couple days after making this review a woman from their marketing department or something contacted me, was very apologetic and gave me a crap ton of information about vaccines and why they weren't comfortable doing the vaccine at that time, and because of the misunderstanding and miscommunication they scheduled my doggos two dose Lepto vaccines free of charge. I was very pleased with the customer service this vet office has, as for internal office she said that the whole team/staff will be getting updated information on company policies during their next team meeting. I'm giving this a two star to start the year because the bs I dealt with trying to get my dog vaccinated. I've had good experiences in the past with east padden but this year I'm finding myself looking for a new vet office. I went in to schedule an app to get my dog updated on her vaccines before she started training first I was told all she needed was one vaccine and it'd cost $47, and her app was at 4 that same day. So I go in at 4pm they tell me it's two shot actually and one is $49 and the other is $61 I only had enough to get the one shot I was told she needed and asked if I would be able to bring her in in the morning for the other shot when my paycheck hits, the vet tech and the receptionist said there was an opening the next morning at 9:15. My FIL brings my dog in the morning and he's told they can't do the shot because they don't want the shots to interact with eachother so we actually have to wait 2 more weeks. So I call after I get told I explain what's going on and asking for answers to simple questions like "why was I told I can schedule this today when I would just be told I couldn't" their answer "I don't know, we will have a manger call you back" well I'm waiting for a manager to call me back still.

Positive experience: Great doctors and friendly staff that are always good about getting back to me, either by a phone call or a text message. I especially enjoy Dr. McDonald's expertise! He treats all my pets with dignity and respect! I have been taking both my two cats (I have three, but the third cat is impossible to even get her in a carrier, let alone to the vet!) and my dog to Dr. McDonald's for years. I believe he used to own his own Veterinarian clinic, but now works at EPAH part time. He is very knowledgeable! The only reason I deducted a star is because they are expensive. Unfortunately, they do not give repeat or multiple pets customer discounts, like my previous animal clinic did when I lived in Portland, Oregon. They only offer an app called "PetDesk", which give very minor discounts with enough visits. I wish they would give a better incentive program. It would help when you have multiple pets! :-0 Otherwise, I highly recommend them!

Fantastic experience: We scheduled a relatively last-minute appointment for our dog to get an issue checked out that he was having, and they got us in within a couple hours of me calling. On top of that, the vet that took care of us (Sky) was amazing - not only did he take care of our dog, but he also wrote and sent a bunch of info for me that evening to help educate me on the issue, and also called to check up on our dog. We love it here!

Positive experience: Most of the doctors and staff here are great, I have had few bad experiences. One bad experience in particular though is regarding my dogs tooth extraction from last year. I mentioned her broken canine multiple times to multiple doctors over the course of about a year. The first doctor said she was too wiggly to even look at the tooth. The next doctor told me the tooth will probably have to be extracted and to make that appt within 6 months, so I did. We came in for her bloodwork before her surgery and the doctor has the audacity to tell me "if we had known about this tooth sooner we might have been able to save it". I had been mentioning this tooth at EVERY appt for months and months. I was livid because not only was there no accountability, I was blamed for it.

Fantastic experience: Every staff member I have talked to at East Padden has been amazing and so sweet. They were great with my lab when he tore his ACL and also amazing with our feral kitten we found. I couldnt have asked for better care for Peanut. They were able to take him for drop off for me last minute, he was pretty sick, and they got him hydrated and medicine on board. He got all the snuggles and is now on the mend and becoming the worlds must cuddly house cat.

Positive experience: I genuinely have had great experiences here in the past. However they try to do every test possible to rule out any issues with your animals and it becomes outrageously expensive. I've had 4 emergency visits in the last 3 months and have spend about $6000 at this point. The first time I brought my cat in, ran every test they couldnt figure out anything wrong with him. Second time, he ended up getting dewormer and I thought that helped. Got more blood work everything was fine. The 3rd time he was brought in ended up being a 3 day stay for a urinary blockage and they genuinely saved him, im very greatful for that. Switched his food, thought things were good untill right before new years he became extremely lathargic and stopped eating (acted like he was dying), I couldn't take him in untill I got paid 2 days later. When I brought him in they had to take him back right away, to make sure he wasn't blocked again. They recommened, a blood sugar test, blood work, urine analysis, & x-rays. Which brought the total up to over $2000. I opted out of enough stuff to bring it down to $1300. They never figured out anything wrong with him this time. But recommend all these tests that had no outcome. Once he was home for 3 days he started getting better thankfully. Just a very unfortunate experience, however most of the staff is extremely kind and genuine.

Fantastic experience: My first ever review because it is so deserved! If I could give this place more than a 5+ star review I would. There were a few complications prior to my visit. My dog was going in for a mass removal and we ran into a few hiccups. Rachel the technician was so kind, understanding and helpful. Rachel answered all my questions and made me feel at ease leaving my pet in their hands. Due to the few hiccups Rachel went in depth about the estimate, the procedure and promised to text me before the procedure started and after the procedure which she did! She called me and went over everything regarding the procedure and how my pup was doing. You can really tell Rachel cares about her patients and the owners and treats them like they are her own pets. Rachel went above and beyond and at the very end helped walk my dog out to my car. If it wasn’t for Rachel I would have left and I just wanted to write a review applauding her as a technician. You have a very good person on your team east padden! The doctor was phenomenal too and receptionist I’ll be back! This review is a little late but better late than never!

Negative experience: Don't go here, save your money/pet/emotions and time going anywhere else. your pet will be pushed on antipsychotics even for having urinary tract disease. I believe they too make money just like physicians for pushing SSRis. Dr. and nurse couldn't explain why it was better. My cat has been taking gabapentin for almost 2 years. Dr Lee and the nurse lied saying he wouldn't have withdrawals coming off the gabapentin which is a bold face lie. The vets were nice previously but after see Dr.lee I will never bring any pets here ever again. If you have to go here, see anyone else then Dr Lee.

Positive experience: We’ve been clients for a while and the care here is good. I have noticed in the past couple of years that things have been changing= Lots of turnover with staff and always busy. Retaining staff says a lot about a business. The reason for the 4 vs. 5 star is that a new policy is that they will call you if you are not early to your appointment to ask where you are. First time it happened it was 1 minute before my scheduled time and I was parking my car. They called to ask where I was. Yesterday I had an 11:30 appointment and pulled in to park at 11:35. They called at 11:35 to ask where i was and when I'd be there. It was very busy when I arrived but in the 20+ minutes we waited everyone was served. At almost noon I asked if they forgot us and they had. I just hope they turn things around a bit to what they used to be. I know Covid did a number on the demand and I still like that they don't push unnecessary treatments or upsell (which is why I left the last 2 clinics).

Negative experience: While the staff was great to work with, unfortunately we were left spending $1000+ on an issue that I ended up resolving at home. We took our cat, Todd in because he wouldn't stop throwing up, no matter what we did. Thy ordered blood test and did an x-ray and gave me new food. He threw up the new food and all the labs and x-rays came back normal. I asked chat GPT for help with the situation and it suggested trying a more simple ingredient cat food. I switched my cat to that food and he almost instantly stopped throwing up. We spent so much money trying to figure out what was wrong with our cat, only to have the Doctor's continue to say they weren't sure- and in the end fixed it through AI. I wish I had a better review but I left feeling very defeated and disappointed.

Fantastic experience: I can’t believe how truly amazing this place is. The staff and hospital was so nice and took my sick pup in last minute. Not only were they compassionate, but did a VIP treatment to my pup (because he doesn’t get along with other dogs) By having the lobby clear for me. When we went to the back all the staff were there greeted him like a real person. Which he loves. He came there very sick with pain. After treatment I could not believe how affordable everything was. I have been paying a lot more at our vet office. Thank you all!!! Kepler will get better

My fur baby went in for a routine dental cleaning 3 days ago & I was, as always, highly impressed! I was given updates throughout the day. Fantastic experience: This has been our go to vet since moving here 4 yrs ago when absolutely everyone was not taking on new patients. Yes, it is expensive, but they are open about it. All our pets are vetted with them or Petco vacination clinic. They have been great with all of our pets. When we brought out English Bulldog Luna in for Emergency and they let us know she had cancer and would need to be put down they were wonderful about it for my family and I. Very supportive. They partner with the humane society so everything worked out great when we got our new doggo. I drive 20 min across Vancouver to go to this vet. I did wish they did eScripts for food/meds, but you can pick up a paper one. I also wish they had an online patient portal. They are the only emergency vet that has STAFF ON SITE lately.

Negative experience: We had a deeply concerning experience at this clinic, and I feel obligated to share it so other rabbit owners can make informed decisions. Our rabbit was experiencing GI issues, so we brought her in urgently. The vet at East Padden immediately presented a very bleak prognosis, telling us that rabbits with low body temperatures “rarely make it out of the hospital alive.” She said, “Your rabbit is likely going to die,” and she was quick to present things in a very negative way. She also told us that she saw a “hairball” on our rabbit’s X-ray. When we brought our rabbit to the ER, the ER veterinarian informed us that the X-ray from East Padden was no longer in East Padden’s system, which was odd. We found this extremely concerning, and it made it difficult for us to trust the team at East Padden. Other vets will also show the X-rays to us. The team at East Padden never showed the X-ray to us, which was odd. During our visit, the vet at East Padden discussed euthanasia multiple times before consulting an ER specialist. My husband begged her to call another hospital (and we both were crying our eyes out). She contacted Dove Lewis after our repeated requests, and the hospital confirmed they could see our rabbit immediately. When we arrived at the ER, the difference in approach was significant. The ER veterinarian said: * They regularly treated rabbits with low body temperatures * Temperature recovery often takes 24–48 hours * Our rabbit’s stomach appeared only slightly distended, not “extremely distended.” (The vet at East Padden said that our rabbit’s stomach was “extremely distended,” and she made it sound like our rabbit wasn’t going to recover.) * They had not personally seen blood clots as a common complication in cases like this, which is very different from what the vet at East Padden said to us. * Supportive care (including an incubator) is standard. My husband said that the vet at East Padden told him she put our rabbit in an incubator; however, she was quick to talk to us about euthanizing our rabbit. We understand that veterinary medicine is complex and outcomes can be uncertain. However, the level of pessimism, the statements that differed substantially from those of the ER team, the unavailable diagnostic imaging, and the premature discussions about euthanasia left us extremely shaken. We are so glad we got a second opinion. We hope this feedback encourages the clinic to ensure transparency with diagnostic records and to reserve discussions of euthanasia until after appropriate supportive treatment and consultations have taken place. For the record… the folks at Dove Lewis saved our rabbit’s life, and our bunny is okay!

Negative experience: Very unhappy with our first visit. Took 2.5 hours (it was 2 dogs), the tech talked bad about and blamed things on other employees, we were quoted so many different prices and all of them were different than our final price, summaries were wrong, things were forgotten during exam, but most of all the tech was shaming us for not having an official vet record for the last 2 years and for the condition of our dogs teeth. I am sorry that my mom was in hospice for the last 3 years and some things have slipped through the cracks, but don't shame me and then charge me $1,000+ per dog!!

Fantastic experience: They were able to get my dog in when he suddenly couldn't bear weight on his leg. They took such great care of him! I could tell by how he acted when I picked him up. He was happy and wiggly! (He'll be scared/timid if he didn't like a place) I'm so greatful they were able to get us "out-of-towners" in so quick! "Fabio" is also really greatful for the pain meds and is resting now :)

Fantastic experience: We have been bringing our babies here since moving to Vancouver from Oregon 4 years ago. We had a senior pup (who has since passed) that we’ve brought in many times over the years and the staff has been so amazing and realistic during those visits. For example, he fell one time and was really limping, they fit me in next day but of course by the time we get in, he’s totally fine. They told me he likely has arthritis due to his age (13) and X-rays could confirm but realistically he probably has it and the X-rays are pretty pricey. They suggested I keep him gently moving, no running, and continue giving him the joint supplements I already was. They didn’t try to pressure me to spend money on tests that would tell us what we already know, I appreciated that. Our other pup just recently got neutered here and that process was so easy and stress free. And now we have a little kitten who got spayed just a couple weeks ago and again… seamless and stress free process. Their prices seem to be reasonable to me in everything I’ve had done here. I do appreciate that they’re upfront on costs and don’t pressure you into purchasing anything. Lastly the waiting room is big, clean and the folks who check you in are always super fast and friendly. I also LOVE the option to text with questions or concerns. Super convenient.

Positive experience: The front staff was great, the tech was great, but the vet just wanted to upsell everything, including switching meds our dog has been on for years. Now she is concerned and wants to switch to a med twice the price. We declined it years ago for the same reason and was assured by the vet at this same clinic, that it was safe.When I declined again this time, she said it isn’t good for him, reduced the dose he has been on, and recommended supplements that they carry for another large monthly fee. Which vet lied? The first who prescribed it, and assured us it was good, or this one trying to sell a more expensive product? It’s sad that we have watched it turn into just a money grab every time we go in. We have appt at new clinic. With plenty of regular appts, not just expensive urgent care.

Fantastic experience: East Padden Animal Hospital is outstanding. When we moved to the area they squeezed us in for an emergency visit and we have been going there ever since. Fantastic experience: We have never had a bad experience at this office! Every single tech, and veterinarian we’ve met has been wonderful. They all seem to actually care for the animals they’re treating. We had a kitty go under anesthesia for a dental cleaning/extractions and we were very nervous. Both doctors were very thorough with their explanations, very patient and willing to spend time answering questions. They appeared to be really busy that day but I never felt like anyone was acting rushed, pushy, or sacrificing quality care. Highly recommend this clinic.

Fantastic experience: The staff were wonderful! My cat had an abscess that ruptured, they got him in hours after I called, the price for Frankie’s surgery was beyond reasonable. They kept me calm in the stressful situation, and called a few days after surgery to make sure he was doing well. When bringing my cat in for follow-up care they addressed all of my concerns/questions without judgement and seemed to really care about my sweet boy, which is so appreciated! Negative experience: I was just going to let this go, but they had to keep pushing, until they finally pushed too far... so here we are. I took my kid's cat in a few weeks ago because she has been having an allergic reaction to something and had been itching herself crazy. We have tried changing everything in the cats environment at least once (a few things multiple times), but couldn't figure out what the issue was. The one thing we knew for certain is that it was not fleas... It was the first thing we thought of, and she has been checked very thoroughly many, many times and been treated many, many times with fleas meds just in case. Ok so the vet calls and tells us what we already knew (and in fact told them)... It's an allergic reaction to something. Could be literally anything, they had no clue either. She says "we found zero evidence of fleas, but the chew patterns are consistent with fleas... Money pwease." We shelled out $300 for information we already had, along with a cone and a flea treatment she didn't even really need (and that we had to apply ourselves... They couldn't even be bothered to put it on her themselves to earn their outrageous fee). Fine, medical stuff is expensive, we knew that going in. We had no intention of taking her back for any sort of follow up, given how unproductive the initial appointment was... I mean, what are they going to do, aside from give us MORE information that we already have? "She has had a cone on her head for the last two weeks, and it appears that it has prevented her for chewing on herself. Now give me more money, stupid." So we elected not to set another appointment, and that's when the hounding started. Calls, texts, emails multiple times a week for the last two weeks. I've just been ignoring it for the most part, though I did talk to them once to tell them it was not my cat, it was my daughter's (and that she was the one paying the vet bill and thus in charge of appointments). So what did they do? When they couldn't get ME to schedule another appointment they took it apon themselves to schedule one FOR me. I'm just glad they actually called to verify the appointment that we didn't make, as they charge a fee for skipping out on a scheduled appointment. We may end up taking the cat back to the vet, we may not... Whatever the case it sure as hell won't be here.

In this case, our veterinarian treated your cat’s infection and itching with appropriate medications, including an antibiotic and anti-itch therapy, along with an updated flea prevention plan. This is an important step even when no live fleas are seen, as flea-related allergies are a very common source of discomfort.

Our team’s follow-up communications were meant to ensure your cat’s healing was on track and that a recheck could be scheduled if symptoms persisted. We do not automatically schedule appointments without client consent.

Fantastic experience: Clean and well maintained facilities. I found this vet after having a terrible experience with a different vet practice. I liked that they use a virtual scribe here to document everything discussed between client and providers. The vet also caught a cancerous tumor on my dog that other previous vets have dismissed. Fantastic experience: Could not have had a better experience! Just moved here from Arizona and wound up visiting East Padden for urgent care. Everything from check in to the vet tech visit, to check out was calm, quick and pleasant. My pup had a dew claw digging into his leg. The vet tech handled it quickly and kept my cost down. I will be using East Padden as our new vet. This place just has a great vibe! My high strung dog was very calm during our wait, which is not normal for him. Highly highly recommend!

Negative experience: DO NOT GO TO EAST PADDEN ANIMAL HOSPITAL in Vancouver!!!!!!!! I am appalled by the complete lack of empathy, unprofessionalism, and compassion that I just received from Vet Dr Lisa Harrenstien. I walked in with Pokie for euthanasia and was greeted by the lovely ladies in the front office. Then, the Vet tech very kindly escorted us back to an office where we spoke a few words about Pokie; and I expressed for the first time in a few days, Pokie seemed present with her head out, moving around…. I asked for a small bin of warm water so she could get her eyes open since she is blind and she kindly obliged. Then in comes Dr Lisa with a mask on letting me know she’s got a cold and is that “ok”. She had a mask on and I wasn’t going to be there long so I told her that was not a problem. Next, she looked at the Vet Tech and I asked if there would be any discussion or questions or is she just euthanizing. I felt taken back and I turned to her and said “well, she is moving a bit and I am here to euthanize her because I believe she’s there, but I would like to ask you a couple of questions before we euthanize her”. Her response was exactly “If there are any questions about quality of life, that moves to a consult fee”. She was very harsh, cold, and made it known she will give her a shot but not discuss my turtle at all. She was heartless and to the point. I was APPALLED with her COMPLETE lack of empathy and care. I looked at her again and said “so if I ask any questions you’ll charge me both fees?” She looked at the Vet Tech and said you guys have the discussion and code it properly and left the room. Tears started pouring out and I said to the Tech “I am already upset putting my turtle to sleep and to have your Doctor just treat me like that was absolutely heartbreaking. I said that she made me feel like she does not care at all about animals or their owners. The Tech agreed she was out of line and said she could talk to the Manager and that she should not have come across in that way. I told her I could not move forward and let her touch Pokie. and that she had been kind but that Doctor was the worst Veterinarian I’ve ever come across. I left outta there in tears, with my sweet Pokie in hand. I can’t imagine taking any of my animals to this clinic and can’t believe anyone would allow that monster to euthanize their pets.

Fantastic experience: We took our French bulldog hank to Dr. Hawkins and and they were so great with him! From the first phone call to the appointment, it was a great experience. Everyone is so nice here! Hank gets a lot of anxiety at the vet and they were calm, kind, gentle, understanding of hanks stress, and made sure we were all set to go with proper treatment. I even got a discount coupon applied for our first visit. They accept care credit, which made it so stress free to get hank an appointment same day. I wish I could remember dr. Hawkins assistants name, because she also deserves to be mentioned for her kindness and professionalism. She was awesome and also great with hank! We will definitely be returning for any vet care needs for our hankie ❤️

Fantastic experience: We took our kitty to East Padden Animal Hospital immediately after she had a major seizure. We walked in the front door and told the sweet gal at the front desk that our cat just had a seizure. Within a couple of minutes the medical staff came out to take her back for immediate evaluation. So impressed that we didn’t have to wait to have her evaluated. They explained everything they were doing for her. With in a day they called with results of test they did. They recommended a cardiologist to follow her up. Thank you so much for your professional, efficient and caring service.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with this animal hospital. My kitten was experiencing symptoms of an infection and my vet was not able to get her in! I reached out to East Padden and they fit me in for a drop off appointment and were very flexible with time for me! The vet tech who helped me get my kitty checked in and discharged was amazing! I clearly could see how much she cared. I had never done a drop off appointment for any of my cats so I was very nervous as I am very protective of my cats and the tech instantly just made me feel relieved, I knew she was going to get taken good care of! Prices weren’t crazy either which is always a plus

Negative experience: If I could give ZERO stars, I would. I called East Padden over 2 weeks ago requesting a call from Traci, their client liaison. A week later she only emailed me, and when I replied, I was again ignored. East Padden Animal Hospital has shown repeated and alarming negligence with my dog’s care. I spent thousands on testing for a serious skin issue, only to find out later from a dermatology specialist that a simple medication change—never suggested by East Padden—resolved the problem within a week. Instead of solutions, they pushed costly, unnecessary tests and offered no real guidance. Even worse, after a biopsy we were not told staples had been used, received no aftercare instructions, and discovered them ourselves—twice. Their records didn’t even note how many staples were used. This is grossly negligent. In 2022, they also left gauze inside my dog’s ear post-surgery, which could have been catastrophic. Our other dog has faced similar issues: broken promises on callbacks, delayed prescriptions, and refusal to provide written scripts. These are not isolated mistakes but a consistent pattern of negligence, poor communication, and disregard for animal safety. Leaving foreign material inside a dog, failing to disclose staples, and charging thousands for ineffective care is unacceptable. I strongly caution anyone against trusting East Padden with their pets.

Negative experience: If I could give ZERO stars, I would. I called East Padden over 2 weeks ago requesting Traci, their client liaison call me. East Padden Animal Hospital has shown repeated and alarming negligence in the care of my dog. Recently, I spent thousands of dollars on testing over a period of time that provided no answers and no solutions to a serious allergy/ skin issue my dog was experiencing, causing open, oozing sores all over his body. A simple medication change—never suggested by East Padden, but later recommended by a dermatology vet specialist—resolved his skin issues within a week. After the medication change, there was no new sores, or infections. Instead of treating the problem, this clinic pushed unnecessary, costly tests while offering no real guidance. Even his diet changes came recommended from us, not them. After my dog had a biopsy done for the sores, we were never told staples had been used to close the wound(s). We were told that staples would “likely” be needed, which is not the same as confirming they were there. There was no confirmation that staples were actually used. We had to discover them ourselves—twice—without any aftercare instructions. This is grossly negligent and unacceptable. Their negligence resulted in us having the dermatology vet specialist remove the first staples too early, according to East Padden, after the fact. Our dog groomer later found additional staples, which led me to demanding East Padden clear my dog of the rest of them. At that appointment, we found out their notes, did not include how many staples were used. This isn’t the first serious lapse I've experienced with East Padden Animal Hospital. In 2022, after my dog had undergone an ear surgery, we found gauze (a foreign object) left inside Diesel’s ear multiple days later, a dangerous and careless oversight. Had the gauze not surfaced when it did, who knows how this would have ended. Likely spending thousands due to their negligence with my dog. Our other family dog, has also been subjected to repeated communication failures and mishandling of prescriptions. Promised callbacks were never made, her medication refill was delayed without notice, and then East Padden is refusing to provide a written prescription for a medication she’s already on. These are not isolated mistakes. They reflect a very consistent pattern of poor communication, negligence, and disregard for animal safety. Leaving foreign material inside my dog, failing to disclose surgical staples, and charging thousands for ineffective care, are absolutely unacceptable practices. I would strongly caution anyone against trusting East Padden with their pets’ health.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had a very good experience at East Padden in the past. I distinctly remember the great customer service and care from the team. The one we interacted with the most was Grace (I think nickname to everyone was Grass). She did an amazing job with my orange American Bobtail Rusty. He almost didn’t want to leave because of the love he developed for her. I heard he also had a fun time playing with Jacob who I believe was her brother. He told his entire experience to his twin chicken bestie back home (Shown in second photo. I know, the similarities are insane). I really appreciate all the love and care they (and everyone else) have given him during his time there. You guys rock!! Can’t wait to be back (hopefully just for checkups and boarding).

Fantastic experience: I've been going to East Padden for probably going on 7 years now. Every time I've been here, they're super packed and everyone has something they're doing/responsible for. That never keeps their staff from having super personable, professional, and respectful communications with their clients and their owners! Most recently, I was impressed by Dr. Anderson and Aelin, Dr. A is someone who can match wits with anyone and is able to take expert care of my Yoda. Aelin was absolutely amazing taking care and going the extra mile to have cordial visits and walk me out to my car with two kitties. As an introvert with one of my furries who has pretty bad anxiety, I'm super grateful for their texting system!

Fantastic experience: We just had our 14 month old wirehaired vizsla spayed. They were kind and caring and took exceptionally good care of her. The next day she seemed to be in a lot of pain/discomfort so when THEY called us to just check on her (which I thought was awesome) they asked us to bring her in for a check (no charge!), which we did. All good after some topical lidocaine. However, what was just as impressive and meant the world to us was the empathy and compassion they extended to us just the week before when our 11 year old vizsla had what we thought were just some tummy troubles. Turned out he had tumors throughout and it appeared one had opened and was bleeding. He was in great distress and pain but very stoic. That pup was my best friend and we had to make the very wrenching decision to let him go. We are all still in shock and deeply grieving. The doc and staff were so very kind and gentle with our sweet Daley, and us. I am so very grateful to them all.

Positive experience: I really struggle to review East Padden, as we've been seeing them for nearly five years and have ebbs & flows with their services and office staff. At the best of times: reliable care, including urgent care, multiple vets at the practice who are personable and do a good job explaining your options. At the worst of times: appointments are difficult to schedule, are mis-scheduled, or key information is not shared between family members (IE I send my spouse to the appointment and they return without a needed document such as the written prescription for flea medication, as we'd prefer to use Chewy than to purchase medication at the vet); I ask that invoices be emailed so I can submit to insurance, the emails don't arrive, etc. This last set of visits - unfortunately we had the latter experience. I feel like private equity bought them out and as a result, prices are going up, office staff isn't paid fairly and turns over leading to inconsistent experiences over time... it feels like the only explanation. Unfortunately, there aren't many independent clinics left- if you're not able to find one accepting new patients, East Padden isn't a bad choice, it just isn't a great one.

Fantastic experience: We absolutely love East Padden. This is our first dog since moving to Vancouver and it was very important to us to find a fear free vet clinic to make sure that our gal has positive experiences at the vet. We were so excited to learn that they encourage Happy Visits. We have had a few well visit appointments in order to take things slow with our nervous rescue dog and all the vets and techs were very accommodating and glad to learn that we want to keep visits low stress. Then we had a crisis and they were able to get us in right away and again everyone was very kind and patient. We had to keep our girl there for the day to receive iv fluids and meds and everyone took incredible care of her and kept us updated on her status. All the vets have been very good at listening to our concerns and coming up with plans to keep our girl happy and healthy. I love that no one has made us feel pressured to do more treatments than necessary. They truly care about pets and their people at East Padden and we're so glad we found them.

Positive experience: My dog was limping and she needed to be seen, so I asked my neighbor. She recommended East Padden Animal Hospital. She has never had anything wrong with her, so I wanted experts who could handle anything. I had asked for a rabies shot when I dropped her off and asked if they gave her the rabies shot when I picked her up and they said, yes. Unfortunately when I called and asked for proof of the rabies shot, I discovered they never gave her the rabies shot. Very disappointing.

Fantastic experience: The Nurses and doctors are always great at communicating the step by step care. I feel good knowing they care about my pupper and attend to his neediness once I drop him off; as if he was at home. (He actually thinks he is the boss of the place when he visits) Being able to book an appt within the same week is a huge win as well.

Fantastic experience: The professionals at East Padden Animal Hospital have been kind, thorough and extremely helpful during the senior illnesses of my precious beagles, Sundae and Pandy. They were quick to respond to messages and the need for the girls to be seen and did everything they could make their last months as pleasant and pain free as possible. These people are the best. They always treated me with kindness and respect. I would recommend them 100%.

Fantastic experience: East Padden Animal Hospital got our kitten in to see a Doc on a busy Friday afternoon when no one else was able. After a short waitlist we were fortunate to get an appointment. They were understanding, compassionate and helpful. The Hospital is clean and well kept.

Fantastic experience: I love East Padden they take such good care of our babies (Cat, Dog, Rabbit). They were able to board and treat our rabbit (Pickles) for Hemorrhagic Disease while moving from KY to OR! They are patient and kind with our old dog (Lady), and they’ve went above and beyond taking the time and care needed to resolve any abnormality or discomfort our sweet kitty (Penny) has had. They’ve done more by far than any other vet I’ve seen do. I also just like to point out how challenging it is to find vets that are affordable AND caring about animals. Needless to say we love the EPAH crew and appreciate everything they do for our family. ❤️‍⬛

Negative experience: I have had extremely disappointing experiences with a lot of the vet techs here. Several poorly done procedures that have left me honestly wondering if I could do better, which is ridiculous. Multiple follow-up visits to redo aspirations and blood pressure readings, they had incomplete suture removal (left a big knot in my dog's nose that came out several weeks after surgery), long wait times, miscommunications, just so bad.

Fantastic experience: Taking our two miniature schnauzers here for over the past three years . They caught our oldest schnauzers Lyme disease quickly and treated him in a timely manner. Our previously animal hospital couldn’t not seem to figure out what was wrong with him but within hours this hospital diagnosed him quickly and saved his life !! All the veterinarian techs and doctors are incredibly kind and compassionate and patient with pets and their owners . They have never disappointed our dogs and give them excellent care . Thank you for always giving Jax and duke the best quality love and care ! 5 stars for this clinic ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic experience: We love this place! We have 3 furballs and the vets and admin are amazing! If you bring your furry friends here you can definitely expect the best care. They have urgent care visits that open up daily and a number you’re able to text your questions to. Thanks East Padden for all that you do :)

Fantastic experience: I have been to many veterinary clinics in the past. But never have I experienced the sincere compassion and professionalism from the vets as I have at East Padden Animal Clinic. They listen carefully to my concerns and explain why I should do certain treatments that I may have opted out if it wasn’t for there true concern and knowledge of the illness. And they all enjoy their Who that? job. One thing I hold especially in high standards is cleanliness, not all vet clinics are clean. And I don’t care if it is a dog or cat! A hospital is supposed to be sterile and many are not. I have been coming here for many years now and I always recommend East Padden Animal Clinic to friends or anyone looking for a good vet for their pet. If you haven’t been there try it! I’m sure you will be happy you did.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Anderson took incredible care of my dog, Pip, during his recent dental cleaning — she was very thorough and kept me informed every step of the way. What really stood out was the level of communication and compassion. I was a little nervous about the procedure, but Dr. Anderson took the time to explain everything and made sure Pip was comfortable and safe throughout. After the cleaning, she even followed up to check in on how he was recovering. That personal touch meant the world. My dog came home happy, healthy, and with sparkling clean teeth!
