Fantastic experience: Dr. Wallace, Danielle and staff were absolutely amazing. They were so kind, compassionate, and patient. You can tell they truly care about the animals they treat and the people who love them. They took the time to explain everything and made me feel completely comfortable. I’m so grateful for the excellent care—highly recommend!”

Fantastic experience: The Oncologist was professional and caring. We're glad our regular Vet recommended Pacific NW Pet for our pet.

Fantastic experience: So thankful to have Pacific NW Pet Emergency. They’re life-savers (literally and figuratively). The vets are super smart, take time to explain the issue and the various options. In the past three years, we’ve seen them three times (twice for our Munchkin cat and once for our Mini Bull Terrier puppy). I’d give 6 stars if I could.

Negative experience: A week ago we took our dog in through ER that we had no idea was sick. His routine blood test came back from his primary vet indicated he needed to be seen right away. We brought him in Friday night, spoke with the front desk, asked about their payment policies, was told we would know about that later, and waited. We saw a doctor not long after. Gave history, answered questions, he was staying overnight, we could call anytime, and someone would call us in the morning. The next morning I spoke with Dr. Sutter. We spoke in length. He gave me the information he had, his theories, and all the unknowns. He spoke to me as a clinician, which i greatly respected. Meaning, instead of using my affection for my dog against me, he spoke in a matter that didn’t offer hope, nor did he make any promises. Gave me a rough quote in the amount of 10-12K. My fiancé was at work, he had to come, we had some hard decisions to make. Three hours later my fiancé was finally able to get home. We spoke, gave him the information from my notes that I took from speaking with Dr. Sutter, and we were stuck at opposite ends. Treatment vs. not. Dr. Sutter called again, he was incredibly rude and put out that he had to repeat himself. He gave my fiancé hope, when there wasn’t much to have. He also only gave us ten minutes to make a decision. Because there was suddenly hope, my fiancé wanted to go through with surgery. We approved treatment, said our dog would be taken back for his CT scan, and we would be called when it was done. On our way to the bank, i called to get the final estimate. Just short of $14,000. No mention of payment policy. We sat in the bank, attempting to get a personal loan, and the front desk is calling for payment. I explained we were at the bank and we would call back. Our loan was denied. We were trying to come up options and the front desk called again looking for payment. We still hadn’t figured it out, said i would call back. It was then that we were told our dog was not going to be treated until we paid in full. For the hour we spent trying to secure a loan, our dog was not being treated. We were forced to make an incredible decision in ten minutes, and yet he still wasn’t moving forward with treatment. I told the front desk that i had no idea we were holding up his treatment. They had nothing to offer me that was helpful, they assumed i knew. They were wrong. Long story short, our dog was in liver failure. I asked if he was dying. Was told he could die if they couldn’t treat whatever was infecting his liver. Wait and see how he does post surgery, feeding tube inserted to help, proteins given to aide in healing. He would be home in 1-2 days. Two hours later we decided that we would give our boy peace if he couldn’t pull through the night. Called the hospital, doctor told me he didn’t think he would make it through the night and he was in a lot of pain. We didn’t know. We left immediately from PDX, got there, saw him in so much pain, and eventually said goodbye. The next day i sent a formal complaint detailing our horrific experience. An email was returned, thanking me for my feedback, and someone would reach out to me in roughly 2-3 business days. I have yet to hear from anyone. There policies and procedures are extremely flawed, too many gaps, very little transparency, and a doctor selling services as if he was a used car salesman. I would think very carefully when coming here. Be sure to get someone to clearly explain their policies. Medical debt aside, no one should ever have to make a gut wrenching decision in ten minutes.

Fantastic experience: This past Sunday we took our furry baby to PNW pet ER, and it was a long wait. But the team communication with us of what was going on and offered a list if we wanted to be seen elsewhere. But previous experience was 5 stars and the wait was worth it.

Fantastic experience: The team and staff Pac NW Pet ER were very friendly and caring about my emergency situation when I came in early morning hours to get my dog looked at, help needed, and meds as my normal Vet wasn't opening for a few more hours. They diagnosed her and offered a few options. Vet was very thorough in explaining what the cause/issue was. I would recommend for emergency situations.

Fantastic experience: All the staff was soo amazing they really care about your situation and your pet the amazing assistants and Doctors saved my baby Yorkie she got into some toxic poison in the yard and this pet ER is very upfront. They let you know the cost of everything they go over everything with you. There’s no hidden charges and they even credited us back money that wasn’t used because my puppy only had to stay one night and not two. They are very honest, very loyal. This is definitely my pet hospital If I ever need one again I would definitely recommend this hospital. It’s also 24 hours a day seven days a week just show up and go in. They got my puppy back within 15 minutes to triage they saved her life. She’s home and doing well thank you To Pacific Northwest pet ER and specialty center. Fantastic experience: My experience so far has been great! I was able to get an appointment right away. The staff actually interacted with my dog and seemed to enjoy him. The doctor explained everything well and answered all my questions and concerns. Staff also made using my insurance so easy.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough positive things about this clinic. I flew from out of state to see them in particular, and it was absolutely worth it. Dr. Townsend was incredibly kind and informative throughout the whole process. They treated my dog very well, and it was obvious that he enjoyed being with them. This was so relieving to see, as a veterinarian atmosphere can be very stressful for animals. They called to inform me exactly when my dog was going in to surgery, and the doctor herself called when the surgery was finished to explain exactly how it went. After surgery and taking my dog home, the staff was beyond helpful and communicative with any questions I had during the recovery process. This is a phenomenal clinic that communicates well and sets expectations appropriately.

Fantastic experience: Very professional. My cat was seen very promptly. Dr. Sun was kind, so patient, and clear in her explanations. I'm so thankful they were there. And I felt the cost was reasonable, in line with what I was expecting. I'm really thankful that my kitty is getting better.

Positive experience: Took our sick golden doodle mini in for terrible cough. She was take. In right away, examined and diagnosed quickly. The attendants were courteous, friendly, excellent with our pet. Putting her at ease. They aren’t inexpensive so review the estimates closely. We were pleased with the care provided. You will too! Fantastic experience: Dr Couto and the Oncology team are efficient, caring, and keep us and our local vet informed on our dog's chemo treatment, health, and prognosis. So glad PNW Pet ER & Specialty Center is there! Thanks.

cristina Rodriguez Posted on Google 2 months ago

Fantastic experience: We came to PNW for a second opinion on a diagnosis for our older dog, Noah, and we are so happy we did. Dr. Granick was an absolute superstar in taking care of our dog. He explained everything in detail, no matter how long it took, and was extremely kind. The staff at PNW was also very knowledgeable and loving to our boy. While our dog passed due to his condition and age, I feel that the PNW did everything in their knowledge and power to help. If you need a specialist or just an ER visit, come here.

Taryn N Posted on Google 2 months ago

Fantastic experience: I cannot express the level of care that my pet received. It was truly world class. While it was not the happy ending we wanted, my cat was loved by them until the end. Thank you.

Gina Fernandez Posted on Google 2 months ago

Fantastic experience: They were ar capacity but still fit me in. The wait is long, as expected for an emergency vet and seeing multiple sick pets come in during that time. The vet weighed all options and tried to keep it cost manageable. They were patient with me and my kitten, especially gal going over treatment plan. Only issue was front desk gal made it a more difficult then needed and was rude. Everyone else was amazing

Amanda Green Posted on Google 2 months ago

Fantastic experience: We took our pup in for episodes of vomiting that exhibited signs of blood. This was our first experience with a Pet ER and we were highly satisfied. The check in process was efficient, we were kept informed and were given options for treatment and clear price quotes ahead of anything taking place. Explanations were thorough throughout the process and everyone we interacted with was very kind and professional. Would definitely recommend them if you have any urgent/emergent pet needs!

Fantastic experience: We had an appointment with the cardiology department for my cat Malcolm, and I can’t say enough good things about our experience. The staff was so kind and sweet to him even though he was definitely being a little spicy that day. They handled him with so much patience and care, which I really appreciated. Dr. Wallace was incredibly helpful and informative. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all my questions, and made sure I understood Malcolm’s condition and the next steps. I never felt rushed, and that meant a lot. The techs were wonderful too. They were gentle, attentive, and very reassuring throughout the visit. You can tell they truly care about the animals and go above and beyond to make them feel comfortable. Overall, such a positive experience. I am really grateful we found them.

Tracy Lasater Posted on Google 2 months ago

Fantastic experience: First time there, and was stressed as it was. From the moment we got to the front desk, to departing, it was absolutely wonderful. Even getting some alarming info regarding our 9 month old baby, I felt like she was in the best hands. From beginning to end. I would highly recommend this animal hospital. Ill never go anywhere else.

Alicia Russell Posted on Google 2 months ago

Fantastic experience: Our husky was attacked by another dog and it left a giant hole just inches away from his jugular. They worked carefully and after several hours were about to shave through his thick coat and stitch him up so we could take our boy home. Thank you so much to the staff!

Jennifer Schaefer Posted on Google 2 months ago

Fantastic experience: Everyone was so nice during our incredibly stressful situation. We felt our dog was in good hands. We were given clear information delivered in a kind patient manner. Thanks to everyone!

Fantastic experience: We've been twice here in the last couple of years for two distinct health issues for our cat. The staff was very kind, transparent and knowledgeable. They treated my spouse and I with kindness and patience as we sought to understand what was hurting our boy and the best treatment options for long term success and quality of life. Really calmed our nerves! He is now home and thriving. Thank you so much!

Jesse Gibbs Posted on Google 2 months ago

Fantastic experience: They provide excellent and compassionate care here. We have had to bring two different cats for emergencies and they were very well cared for and we were well informed about options and pros/cons as well as costs. They are 24/7 which is amazing. Since this is basically an ER for pets we did not expect it to be inexpensive and it's not, but their pricing is absolutely reasonable for an emergency visit and the services we recieved. The people here are very kind and personable. It's clean and the waiting room comfortable. They are our go-to in emergencies!

Fantastic experience: This is absolutely the best vet clinic I have ever been to. My Lhasa apso turns 12 in one week. By all rights she should have died two years ago. Due to having suddenly stopped eating. Ultrasound showed her liver was slightly enlarged but her lab work was looking kind of normal. I was lucky enough to find Dr. Sutter in Internal medicine who, through his expertise and diagnostics Found out that she had liver failure caused by her own immune system. She had to be fed through a tube in the side of her neck, had to have her belly drained due to ascites, and required a complicated medication regimen that caused me to take off work for three months to care for her. I often heard the word “grim”associated with her projected outcome. She now only takes two medications for her liver and has enjoyed a happy and healthy two years since then. She’s the love of my life… My twin flame… Soulmate.… Whatever she is, I love her more than anything and I’m eternally grateful to Dr. Sutter for saving her life. Pacific Northwest Pet ER & Specialty Center Is staffed by very professional, caring people who truly love animals. Top-notch hospital and excellent care. Do not hesitate to bring your pet here for the best care they can possibly get UPDATE Since posting this review two years ago, my beautiful Sandie was found to have cancer on her adrenal gland that was successfully removed at Pacific Northwest Pet ER and Specialty by the remarkable team of surgeons and techs —-with no complications despite her age and her ill health. Eight months ago, she was found to be diabetic and is currently on insulin She has gone blind and is scheduled for cataract surgery this month She turns 14 in April She is otherwise healthy and happy, loves to eat, loves to put her nose up and smell what’s new on the breeze, , And again we have to thank the wonderful doctors and especially Dr. Suter at Pacific Northwest Pet ER and specialty. Eight months ago I bought a Shih Tzu puppy (and I will add photos of her to this post If it will let me.). When I took her to the regular vet for her spay appointment, she was found to have high liver values preop. So I brought her to Dr. Suter before taking her for the surgery. He recommended a CT scan prior to any surgery, so I canceled the surgery and we scheduled the CT scan which showed that she had a liver shunt!!! So now we have her on a special diet and some medication while we await surgery to schedule her to have this shunt repaired AND they will do the spay at the same time. So again, Dr. Suter to the rescue. This prevents my baby Shih Tzu from having to undergo multiple surgeries as everything will be done in one surgery . My recommendation is if there is something wrong with your dog, bring them here. They will get the best care and you will not be judged if you have an old dog that you love that has an illness. These veterinarians will not look at you with a scowl like “you should just put it down“. They recognize that you love your fur baby and they will do everything they can to give him or her the fullest and healthiest life possible.❤️

Fantastic experience: The 2 cardiologist we have had care for our baby girl Becca Ann are knowledgeable and very caring, I'm happy our vet sent us there for her heart care.

Dottie Schaffer Posted on Google 2 months ago

Fantastic experience: Great vet ER! Everyone was so attentive and caring— we were kept informed of our wait time (all dependent on who was being cared for) and possible options if we couldn’t wait. They were really great when it’s not the places you want to be. 10 out of 10 recommended if you need a emergency care for your pet.

Kailie G Posted on Google 2 months ago

Fantastic experience: Dr. Sun was professional and kind. She didn’t try and push unnecessary testing on our little old guy. I wish she was in regular practice because she would be our Vet! Thank you for your compassion for people and pets, especially in stressful situations; we appreciate you and believe you are in the veterinary field because you truly care and (hopefully) love what you do!

Fantastic experience: Brought my Corgi to PNW Pet ER for an injury that was unknown but wanted to have examined. The staff was great and the check in process was simple and easy. The wait was not long at all. Once my Corgi was examined I got a briefing and outline of treatment from the Veterinarian and she assured me that the injury wasn't serious but that we would need to prevent any infections. The treatment plan is simple and all the care instructions were clear. I highly recommend PNW Pet ER to anyone who needs urgent or emergency pet care.

She was warm courteous and used vocabulary i understand. Facility is clean…reception quick and helpful.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Parker and the whole team are always knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. We’re there frequently for oncology check-ups and have always been treated with care and compassion.

Terrie Eliker Posted on Google 2 months ago

Fantastic experience: There is a professionalism and compassion among the staff, techs and vets of Pacific Northwest Pet ER and Specialty Center that provides a real peace of mind when my babies need help. My interactions with other emergency vets, before we moved to Portland, was almost always a waste of time and money. The fixes were pricey for diagnosis that were completely wrong. Once I had the films shot by the emergency vets sent to my normal vet. The ER could not find the source of the problem but my normal vet made the diagnosis from the ER’s data. My Juno, at nearly 13, is a new dog after being treated by PNW Pet ER. After years of going to different vets across a small community, it was frustrating. We were always trying to find one thing wrong when there was, in fact, three things: disc pain, environmental allergies and GI problems that kept her in constant pain. Pain meds, a new diet and thyroid meds have made all the difference. Our little Polly, four months younger than her cousin, has always been the forgotten one as Juno was so sickly. 2026 is the year for Polly to get the attention. She behaved for the staff so well that she didn’t need sedation and we are confident Polly will get the answers we need to make her life better.

Fantastic experience: We've had several experiences here and every single one of them has been outstanding as far as the team here goes. Recently we were there for something unrelated and the staff connected us with a specialist for our cat's kidney problems. 10/10 would recommend.

Eliza Ruiz Posted on Google 2 months ago

Fantastic experience: The comprehensive care my fur baby received by Dr.Couto and his team was outstanding. We are so very lucky to have an amazing specialty veterinary care locally with Drs and staff who go above and beyond to provide amazing care and who are exceptionally compassionate. I would give ten stars if I could!!

Fantastic experience: Took my dog here for a ruptured anal gland. They tried to get to him as quickly as possible, but several more critical patients were ahead of him. They were able to get to him and get him comfortable and taken care of. He is doing well after the visit and feeling much better. Definitely will not shy away from them in the future (hopefully the distant future). Staff were helpful and nice despite it being 2-4 am

James Chiodo Posted on Google 2 months ago

Fantastic experience: Very happy with PN pet ER. Dr. Couto answered all of our questions clearly. Never felt rushed. Sarah was very kind and showed empathy.

Scott Rainey Posted on Google 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: We came in after midnight with our puppy who was having an allergic reaction to something and was covered in hives. We were checked in immediately and our dog was taken back right then. She was cared for with a great deal of tenderness - it's obvious the staff really are committed to caring for animals. The veterinarian we spoke with was very helpful and explained what was going on and how they were treating our dog. When they brought her back to us, she was already looking better (after receiving a steroid injection and IV fluids). PNW Pet ER is an outstanding service, and we are so glad to have them in our neighborhood.

Fantastic experience: I had so many concerns for my dog after he’d had a cancerous mass removed. The doctor we met with was wonderful. She talked to me about the type of cancer, the risk level, the signs to watch for, and answered all my questions. I felt cared for and I know what his future care will look like. Thanks!

Negative experience: Took our 7 and a 1/2 month mastiff, over there because he had intestinal problems, they quoted us $1210 for an X-ray, which I think was outrageous. Not willing to work with anybody financially other than have money up front. And basically get the hell out of the door since when did animal care become the cost of human healthcare?

Erin M Posted on Google 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: I was happy with care my girl received. I felt heard. Dr was great and explained the situation in detail including the price.

Negative experience: Our experience was non-existent here. We have a large dog that lost the use of his back legs. We didn't want to take him out to sit in a waiting room and become more stressed. The tech that came out to the car to access our Malamute was very uncaring and seemed put out. This was at 9:30 am. She said they would call when they were ready for us and bring out a gurney to help bring our dog in. We eventually left at 2pm and went to another ER… the call finally came from them at 4:30pm 7 hours after being assessed. Our dog was whimpering and in pain and I would not recommend this facility. I can't speak for the quality of the vet because we never did see one.

Lulu Keith Posted on Google 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: The most kind and compassionate people who have ever taken care of my cat. I would take him back in a heartbeat if anything happened again!

Talana Gorsuch Posted on Google 3 months ago

Positive experience: This is the second time we used this ER. This place is clean and professional. They were thorough and offer alternatives for cost. They worked with us to help our dog and cat get the best care they needed

Aliyah Brown Posted on Google 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: I’ve been here on 2 separate occasions: once for a dog attack( needed overnight stay & surgery.) And once for sudden seizures. Both visits exceeded my expectations. They are a CARING and capable team. I would highly recommend this hospital for your emergency needs; especially if you require a gentle touch in emergency situations.

Liz Newman Posted on Google 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: We've visited with 3 different dogs with emergencies and specialty care over the years. Staff are always pleasant and kind, and the doctors give great explanations, describe options, and are very caring. My dogs respond well to everyone there, even when in distress, which says a lot. Having a dog with some health issues that result in emergency visits, I can say the prices seem comparable to better than other emergency rooms. And all is explained in advance. They are our go-to now.

Kathy Wright Posted on Google 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: My first impression of Pacific Northwest Pet ER and Specialty Center was created when I made an online appointment request and was contacted the same day and was able to find a satisfactory appointment time, even during the Christmas/New Year's holiday rush. Pricing was discussed on the first phone call, and I felt it was a very reasonable price for a specialty consultation. At the appointment time, I was greeted promptly. The reception staff and Sarah (veterinary technician) were professional, thoughtful, and my interactions with each of them was enjoyable. Dr. Coutu provided a comprehensive yet understandable explanation of what could be expected as a result of the diagnosis. During the appointment, Dr. Coutu answered all my questions and appreciated my concerns. I received a detailed discharge summary covering the points we discussed during the appointment, together with recommendations for future treatment. I feel confident that my pet will receive the compassionate care we want for our fur buddies, as we take this healing journey.

Fantastic experience: A breath of fresh air when it comes to pet care. Everyone is lovely, they truly adore animals and not once did I feel as though Maddy wasn’t in the very best care.

Tamra Taylor Posted on Google 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: This was my second time of bringing a pet from Hood River to the ER. The first time did not have a good outcome. My Larry was in bad shape. The team was so compassionate, kind. And I had the same experience with the team but a much better results. Lily is running around and her happy little self.

Kevin Abbe Posted on Google 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: This was a pleasant change from all the other offices we have experienced. They are extremely professional, compassionate and upfront. I usually do not give 5 stars but our experience warrants one this time.

Reagan Ellis Posted on Google 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: My pet suffered a spinal injury after a fall and I found the care from the ER and then Neuro teams to be very good. I would recommend to anyone in need of emergency care and /or speciality needs.

Brenda Wilson Posted on Google 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: My cat has been having bladder stone issues and had a flare up while we were out of town. My dad was able to take my cat to see the amazing staff here and they were so helpful, contacting me over the phone, explaining everything and being patient with me being out of town and my dad being the one in office. I was expecting our bill to be exuberant and was pleasantly surprised with the reasonable cost to have my cat seen that day and be treated. I would highly recommend them to everyone. All of the staff was very friendly and incredibly helpful. Cannot thank them enough.

Garrett Hurt Posted on Google 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: This place was very welcoming and understanding. They listened to us and layed out our options very clearly. The vet came out and talked with us multiple times in the hour that we spent with them giving us updates at every step of the way. We felt comfortable putting our dog in their hands and we would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a pet ER.

Lisa “BeautifullyFlawed” Voyles Posted on Google 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: We had no pet ED in our area and drove the 40 minutes to take our cat in who had a swollen leg and was quite sick. He is very high anxiety and they put us in a room right away. The staff was all very helpful, considerate and kind. The vet himself came in multiple times to update us and they gave us pricing prior to every thing they did. They were able to diagnose him without higher cost diagnostics. We were there about 4 hours but expected that. We would definitely go back and highly recommend them to any pet owner in an emergency situation. Our kitty is on the mend now and we are so relieved.

Phyllis Posted on Google 3 months ago

Fantastic experience: We have been there for TPLO and now after my dog was attacked last week. We were very upset. All the staff made us feel that scrappy was in competent and empathetic care. Recommend them to everyone.

Aubrey Wilson Posted on Google 4 months ago

Fantastic experience: Amazing interactions with all staff (front desk, nurses, and DVMs), answered all my questions, gave options and helped me determine course of treatment, and helped me save money in the end. I knew my pet was safe and well cared for while he was there and he was able to come home to me for more snuggles!

Sarah Palmer Posted on Google 4 months ago

Negative experience: NEVER EVER take your pet here. They almost took our dogs life because we couldn’t afford a 10-15,000 $ surgery. We got a second opinion right as they were having us sign euthanization paperwork. The second vet hospital told us they could do the exact surgery for 12-1,500$. They told us there wasn’t any other option but to pay or euthanize. We are so glad we did our own research, it saved our dogs life.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough good things about Luna's oncologist, Jason Couto, and surgeon, Sarah Holman. Dr. Couto made it so easy for me to choose surgery for Luna's Mast Cell Tumor, after years of other oncologists and surgeons telling me her tumor could not be removed without reconstructive surgery. Both doctors made it easy for me to get a consult right away with Dr. Holman and gave me the confidence that Luna's surgery could be curative. I felt blessed to get a surgery date so soon after Luna's consult and was over the moon happy to get the histology report that her tumor was low grade, unlikely to recur, and completely excised! I could not have asked for better news. My dog was cured, got off all her medications, and is living the good life now! Thank you, Drs. Couto and Holman!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic staff. Over the last few years we've lost 3 of our precious pets here. In an emergency the staff is very, very fast, and are immediately on top of the care needed to stabilize your pet. The entire process is explained up front, from the care received to the cost, which I appreciate. If your sweet pet is not able to pull thru, the staff here is right beside you the whole way thru the process and also provide a private room to day goodbye and be with them as long as you need too. The genuine care for your pet and you as a pet parent is first rate. In the cases of our pets, they gently walked us thru the process of what came after the losses, and that was also done with great compassion. I will continue to use them for any emergency or for crossing our sweet pets over that bridge.

Negative experience: My dog had head and ear problems and the only thing she did was clean out his ear a little and send him home with pain meds. I was charged $519.00 and when he was getting worse I called back and she wouldn't return my calls. They said the doctor who worked on him was gone till the 16th. Never go there again. The worse care service i had ever had being a pet parent. The staff is excellent though very nice while you wait.

Positive experience: The facility is very nice, but when we came in with our dog that had mastitis, we were met with a quote that had nearly $8k in frivolous, unnecessary charges. Makes me wonder how many times they get away with charging people an insane amount of money, fully taking advantage of them with they are in a desperate situation with their beloved pet.

Fantastic experience: Love this place, beautiful facility, and the staff are great. I got the pleasure of watching them have a parade for a Pup who had just finished chemo treatments. It warmed my heart. We are still in the stages of diagnoses for ours, but Dr Granick has already given me more options than either of the other two places we took him.

She’ll be so happy to hear your kind words. Thank you for trusting our team, we’re grateful to be here for you both!

Fantastic experience: I will ALWAYS be so incredibly grateful for this pet E.R. I have multiple cats and several have been to specialists here that are outside the scope of my regular veterinarian. Additionally, several issues have happened on the weekend or late at night when my regular vet is unavailable. This is a 24/7 facility. Every single person I have encountered here, from front desk staff to technicians and vets are beyond reproach. EVERYONE has been incredibly helpful, supportive, professional and compassionate. I cannot recommend it more highly. A special shout-out to Dr. Parker in Oncology who is a beautiful soul. She is truly an Earth angel here to support animals.

AshLee Miller Posted on Google 4 months ago

Negative experience: My cat was dying and they would help me unless I gave them 8,000. They told me to just make him comfortable and let him pass. Had to go to another vet who charged me 700 dollars and saved his life.

Matthew Bernstein Posted on Google 4 months ago

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience. We brought our cat in for a surgery consult for a rare condition. Dr. Holman was incredibly knowledgeable and competent. They were able to get our cat in for surgery the same day. The nurses were kind and attentive to our cat and the staff accommodated short visits to our cat within the constraints of their schedule. I would recommend them wholeheartedly and would return with our other cats in the future if they needed specialty care.

Aleecia Ristau Posted on Google 4 months ago

Negative experience: I was really disappointed with how my visit was handled. I came in because my regular vet couldn’t get me in until the next day for blood work. I told them multiple times that my dog has a history of pancreatitis and that I specifically wanted blood work to make sure nothing more serious was going on. After waiting over four hours, they tried to push X-rays, an ultrasound, and several other things I didn’t ask for. I was confident it was his pancreatitis acting up and just wanted the blood work done. I ended up leaving with no blood work at all—only nausea medication. I took him to his normal vet the next day, they ran the blood work, gave us the right medications, and confirmed it was likely his pancreatitis. It cost $400 instead of the $1,500 I was quoted here. Basically, the was told me he just had a “tummy ache.”

Fantastic experience: I was given several places to compare. Pacific NW Pet ER & Specialty Center not only gave me the best price, but they were able to get me in right away. The staff was friendly and helpful and I was very impressed with the vet who reviewed my dog's echocardiogram.

Jennifer Barber Posted on Google 4 months ago

Fantastic experience: I would recommend this vet to anyone with an urgent or emergency need. The staff is friendly and the vets really care about animals. Their prices are reasonable based on a different experience with a different nearby urgent cere vet visit where they wanted to change me double what Pacific NW charged for an x-ray. Thankful for them

Fantastic experience: I brought my injured dog late on a Sunday. The staff from the front desk to the veterinary doctor were wonderful. Very attentive, professional and kind. I highly recommend this emergency hospital.. we are Lucy to have them for our pets

Brandy Branch Posted on Google 4 months ago

Fantastic experience: All of the staff were kind, understanding and explained the steps/process. The physician gave us our options and her recommendations. It was a slower day so we were in and out in under 2 hours which is unheard of at emergency veterinarian facilities.

Katherine Ferzacca Posted on Google 4 months ago

Fantastic experience: My dog saw Dr. Townsend for a double knee surgery. We had a great experience, everyone was very understanding and treated our dog so well. I wish they had a rehab team there too but they provided a list of places that they work with and we found a good fit. Sometimes if you call them it takes a while to get through but I know how busy they are so that didn't matter to me. We will definitely be doing follow up care there as well. The follow up x-rays were half the cost of the original x-rays that we had done somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: From the time I walked in with my dog until the time I left with my dog I could not have asked for a better ER visit. Every one working there were absolutely beyond amazing. 2 days later I'm still at ahhh my dog has made such improvement within 24hrs it's amazing. I am truly grateful for Pacific Northwest Pet ER & Specialty Center!

Fantastic experience: Saw my pet right away, brought her out front to sit with us when she was too nervous in the back. They treated her very quickly though there seemed to be a steady stream of patients. Couldn't find the cause to her problem. It had, of course, cleared up as soon as we took her to a vet. They did you a concern to follow up with our regular vet. They didn't try any scare tactics to leech more money. I recommend this place.

Krista Briley Posted on Google 5 months ago

Fantastic experience: Our experience with the ER was positive, despite a stressful situation! We felt that our pet was cared for professionally, and as promptly as possible considering the staffing available on a Friday evening. Communication was good and there was never a perception that our reaching out for information was a hassle, as it has been at other ERs we have needed to use before. I would recommend Pacific Northwest Pet ER, though I hope we can avoid having to go back! :)

Fantastic experience: Our Jamie just had his 5 mo. Follow-up with Dr. Wallace and her staff after receiving his cardiac pacemaker in May. Our little “white potato “ pittie wasn’t expected to make it and we were devastated, but Dr. Wallace came in on her day off to do the surgery. Five months later he is thriving and still living his best life with us. We rescued Jamie through Born Again Pitbull rescue, having suffered horrible facial trauma requiring plastic surgery. Now, this sweet, loving , 10yr. old pup has been given the promise of more walks for “joyous sniffing”, more happy exploring and car rides and travel with Mom and Dad, all due to the expertise of Dr. Gabrielle Wallace and her compassionate, caring staff. We will continue to make the nearly 4hr. trip to Vancouver for Jamie’s continued follow-up visits because we have complete faith and trust in their ability to give Jamie the best possible treatment and care. Our gratitude knows no limits.

Fantastic experience: Pacific Northwest Pet ER & Specialty Center did an excellent job this past week when my dog was having severe back pain. Thr lobby was clean, roomy, had plenty of seating, as well as a waterbottle station and coffee & tea station. I was able to register with the front desk as soon as I walked in the door. They made that process simple. A vet tech came out as I was finishing up the paperwork to get more information and triage my dog. Not long after that the vet tech came out and took my dog into the assessment side of the clinic. Once the initial assessment was done, I was moved into a room and a vet spoke with me about what was going on with my dog, listening to my concerns and questions, then coming up with a treatment plan that I approved of. I was given a cost estimate and told it would take some time to get the treatment taken care of and offered to give me a call when they had an update or she was done. I opted to wait. The vet came out to give me an update during that wait period. The check out process was simple. I was able to take my dog home that evening with all the meds and instructions she needed to get her back on her feet again. Throughout the process I was treated with respect and professionalism. I highly recommend them and would take my dog back if it were needed

Fantastic experience: I can't speak highly enough of this establishment, and specifically Dr. Townsend. The care that my pet received saved her life, and the staff really loves your pets. They take extra time to let you know that they are invested. Maybe it's a credit to each staff members passion for what they do, or a reflection of how the hospital takes care of their employees- either way it shines in the care they put out there. Don't hesitate to bring your loved one here.

Fantastic experience: I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful the staff is ; from the arrival desk to their specialty staff, kind, considerate & professional. My beloved Tucker was in Cardiac Distress when we arrived. He couldn’t breathe . His lungs were filled with fluid. They wished him away& worked tirelessly to stabilize him.Dr. Nora Sherman& her cardiac Intensive Care Unit were amazing. Their loving & efficient care saved his life. I will be eternally grateful

Fantastic experience: Always a great experience regardless of the situation with your pet. They're thorough, patient, explain everything in a way you understand, and keep you updated. I've only been there for emergency visits in the night, and they've always been handled quickly and well.

Positive experience: The Staff has your pets care FIRST in Mind and do a great job. Dr. Craig, not so much. It is more about making as much money as possible rather than directly treating your pet. Don't get me wrong, he cares and is knowledgeable, But CORPORATE comes FIRST in his Mind !

Negative experience: I trusted this office woth my dogs live. My funds are always tight. Theyput her on Furosamide without telling me how extremely dangerous this drug is to kidneys. Matter of fact when I asked about side effects all they said is she will drink and pee more, thats it. They Never said that before we do this, we would need to test kidney function. Dog got Acute Kidney injury and died within 10 days. To say I am angry and heartbroken beyond measures is an understatement. Sadly all vets I dealt with in the past 2 months constantly misinterpreted signs and leave out life sustaining information tp owners. I will never trust any vet again. Always get 2nd and 3rd opionions yo get best info. Also, they could have saved her but because I was $400 short their finance guy allowed my pet to die. Kudos to truage staff, but not doctors. I cannot recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: My dog had a sudden onset eye issue as a result from recent dental surgery. I took my dog to Pacific Pet ER on a Friday evening. They were able to see my dog almost immediately and quickly assessed the eye and explained a course of action to me. They did a procedure that evening and I was able to take my dog home. Location is great. Staff is professional and knowledgeable.

Fantastic experience: Visited twice in the Month of September and each time staff was so wonderful. I was able to bring her home the first time after an overnight stay. But my poor babygirl was experiencing so many health complications that the second visit unfortunately we were unable to bring her home. I truly appreciated everyone there! I was given explanations, time, communication, and space. Obviously not the outcome I wanted, but having your team taking care of her I knew everyone did all they could. Wonderful, compassionate people here!!

Fantastic experience: My dachshund had sudden onset of a serious case of IVDD. He was walking normal to completely paralyzed from mid back down in 2 days. I visited the ER and had the most supportive efficient care followed with a hospital stay and emergent neuro surgery. This team is absolutely amazing. They are caring and informative and work diligently to provide quality care to the animals. I will never take my animals any where else. I am extremely grateful that a place of animal care like this exists. All of the doctors I have worked with have been outstanding especially the neurology team and Dr. Kowal.

Fantastic experience: My dog has been sick all week. Few visits to UC and then finally to Pacific NW Pet ER. Amazing, empathetic care by all staff. She received meds and treatment there and then I was sent home with medications I would need over the next few days. She is now on the mend and we were able to rule out anything critical with an ultrasound.

starmancbell Posted on Google 5 months ago

Negative experience: I have ZERO confidence in this place. 2 pups, over $10,000 and zero answers. Just guesses. Wish we went somewhere else. Wish I was more diligent. Thought they were in good hands. It was deemed cancer the first time before ANY tests were done and we were told WHY it was cancer on a chart... with colored pens. 2 hours later... "yay is not cancer we were wrong", but we'll send some tests to some schools and not get back to you while your pup suffers until you bring them back and we will tell you it's time to put them down because they are suffering. Second pup almost identical scenario and outcome. Thinking it was probably bad gas trapped from what I can tell after the fact. Sick out of nowhere and dead 48 hours later. To an "extremely abrupt and aggressive cancer... we think... with no tests other than full panel that showed no signs of this or anything out of ordinary. Take our word for it put your best friend down" If I sound mad, I am. Doesn't change the facts. I WELL NEVER BRING ANOTHER FAMILY MEMEBER HERE! AND YOU SHOULDN'T EITHER. READ THE OTHER 1 STAR REVIEWS. Go ANYWHERE else! PS The actual amount of 5 star review by "people" who are writing their 1st review is suspicious.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience! Nobody wants to have to visit an emergency vet, but I was very impressed and appreciative of the clinic. The office is very nice, staff was welcoming and warm, and most importantly my pup was treated with care. Wait time and costs were surprisingly reasonable. Thank you so much!

Carole Vandehey Posted on Google 5 months ago

Fantastic experience: The staff was prompt, helpful, and knowledgeable. I knew my pet was in good hands. The facility was clean and spacious. I was especially thankful that their hours were 24/7. The veterinarian went over his diagnosis, treatment options, and provided a break down of costs for the different options. I was very happy with the care my dog recieved.

Doug cobb Posted on Google 5 months ago

Negative experience: We dropped in on the weekend and totally understand waiting to be seen, other pets had priority emergencies. However after we met with the vet it was OVER TWO AND A HALF HOURS to get discharged and get meds. The front desk was polite, but your system is broken to be told "a few more minutes" for two and a half hours is frustrating and ridiculous. You need to do better.

Hannah Aldine Posted on Google 6 months ago

Fantastic experience: The staff were great and got to me quickly. They let me know they had a specialist available and I could bypass the ER, saving me time and money which I appreciated. They didn't try to push unnecessary tests on me which I also appreciated. I'd recommend them for emergencies!

Fantastic experience: Very impressive facility and staff, from the front desk to the veterinarian we saw. We initially planned on using them for just our dog's first round of chemotherapy because they responded and treated him weeks before another, closer (2.5 vs 4.0 hours) comparable facility could work him in. PacNW ER&Specialty, however, took such good care of us and our dog that we're sticking with them for the duration. Their very extensive roster of veterinarians, including two oncologists, is also reassuring. Besides those features, they are just minutes off the interstate from our neighborhood to theirs. (The alternatives include extensive, twisty, risky, remote two-lane highways.) That's a bonus considering that we have to leave home hours before sunrise for any of them, and it may help significantly once winter sets in. On top of that are the many excellent restaurants within 1 to 5 minutes. We won't even get to all of the very best ones before our dog's chemo is all done. We did have one problem, but it impacted them more than it did us (we ALWAYS carry books to EVERY appointment, anywhere) and I'll bet they've fixed it my now. We checked in a couple of minutes early, giving the front desk my name, the dog's name, the doctor's name, and the appointment time. Half an hour later, we were just about to inquire with the front desk about the delay when our name got called. It seems the front desk hadn't notified the oncology clinic we were there. It's to their credit that they didn't reschedule our appointment to another day, so we're not going to ding them a star over that.

Jamie Getter Posted on Google 6 months ago

Fantastic experience: I drove down to Vancouver from West Seattle as they were the only oncology in the area that could get me in, in a timely manner. They were very quick in calling me back and getting an appointment scheduled after I left a message. When we arrived, Rachel was the gal that checked us in and she was very Compassionate and thorough. Ashley Parker was our doctor and she was great as well. We spent a better part of the day down there doing multiple tests. They were very good at explaining everything before we left that same day. They have different options to explore and are pretty transparent About each one. Though we drove down there for the first oncology assessment, I can’t really see myself making that trip for the duration of my pet’s life. That’s very unfortunate because I really appreciated the experience with them. I can only hope to find an oncologist in Seattle that can live up to the same expectation. I would highly recommend coming here. The pricing was very reasonable for all that they did.

Fantastic experience: NW Pet ER & Specialty has exceeded any expectations a person could have. From walking in the door with an emergency pet, the front staff, techs, vets and eventually the surgery team were professional, communicated better and with clarity and with urgency than I’ve ever experienced at a clinic. Dr. Martin has gone above and beyond with thorough, technical communication of issues and all the while compassionate toward this pet parent. Truly the best vet group given a very difficult situation . And the surgery team whom I’ve not met but led by Dr. Sarah Holman pulled off a feat none thought possible. God bless them all. My heart is full even though the journey is not yet over. With great respect and appreciation. Thank you. Timber’s mom‍♀️

Fantastic experience: We rushed our cat who was post surgery from another vet clinic in with a massive infection hidden internally, until it wasn’t. PNW ER was absolutely amazing. It’s a hospital not a clinic so expect a different environment but a good one. Everyone was pleasant, professional, good communication and his surgeon was the icing on the cake. He’s labeled as “dangerous” with the regular clinic yet PNW ER had no restraints regarding helping him. That in itself means a lot. Don’t get me wrong lol he can be a jerk when he wants to, you have to earn his respect and he’s a big boy. Thanks to the ER staff for all you did to get him on the road to recovery.

L Posted on Google 6 months ago

Fantastic experience: Dr Townsend was absolutely amazing taking the time to go over options and assessing the potential surgery openly and honestly as if her dog was being evaluated. Ericka was great at listening to us as well. The front staff was welcoming. I will keep this place in mind if specialty surgery and/or emergency care is needed for my puppy in the future. pup stays healthy.

Sierra Hines Posted on Google 6 months ago

Negative experience: They failed me. I brought my cat in with a bladder obstruction and they left us waiting upward of an hour and a half because there was another “emergent” case, while we were sitting, my cats bladder was filling. A call just had to be made to transfer him so we could leave and get him the help he needed, but the doctor was too occupied to take 3 seconds of his time to save my cats life - who arrived 30-45 minutes before the other case. In the meantime he chatted with the other patients owner for a very absurdly long time while my cat was in a life and death state. We drove to the new clinic, and they did an ultrasound which is standard procedure that was not done initially, and they informed us of multiple pokes to the bladder and that his once hard bladder was soft. They ruptured his bladder and he had to be put down. We were told if we had come in the time they made us wait, it would have been simple and iv fluids for a couple days and been home. That was not the case due to these understaffed and wrongful priorities. I went up to them and expressed numerous times that what was happening was not okay and my cat was only getting worse. Do not come here. Their prices are double other clinics. We were quoted around $5000 and at the other location it was closer to $2000; with better care and immediate treatment. Unless you want to lose your pet and your life savings please do not come here.

Fantastic experience: We've been in twice during a couple scary moments with our dog and both times, we've been so impressed by the staff, techs, and veterinarians. They're patient, answer all our questions, and have been able to see us without too much of a wait. They're definitely our trusted ER/specialty hospital from here on out!

Fantastic experience: I brought my 13yr old American Bully in due to a possible heart condition. I live over 2 hrs away. I was able to get an appointment in short order and the Dr and staff were great!! They did everything they could to make it easier for me and the best care for my little girl! She ended up with a heart monitor for 24hrs and set everything up so I could mail it back instead of another 4hr round trip! Truffles was very comfortable with the Dr and Staff! I highly recommend them!!
