Our comment from InfoVet about Pet Shotz Inc.:
Pet Shotz Inc. is a veterinary clinic known for its budget-friendly services that many customers appreciate. While there are testimonials about the clinic’s affordability and the compassion of some staff members, there are also significant concerns that potential clients should consider before choosing this facility.
- Many clients praise the affordability of the services, with competitive prices for spaying, neutering, and vaccinations, making it accessible for pet owners.
- Some staff members, particularly the technicians, have received commendations for their kindness and dedication to the animals, creating a caring atmosphere.
- Long-standing clients have reported trust in the clinic for many years, indicating that there are customers who have had satisfactory experiences.
- Completing procedures can sometimes take longer than expected, leading to frustrating wait times for drop-offs and pick-ups.
- Concerns regarding communication have emerged, with reports of unexpected charges and lack of transparency about costs at the point of service.
- Instances of mismanagement, such as patients experiencing infections post-surgery and complications, have left some clients feeling dissatisfied with the level of care.
While the clinic offers essential services to the community and operates as a low-cost option, prospective clients are encouraged to weigh the benefits against the experiences of customers who have encountered difficulties. If you prioritize affordability and quick access, Pet Shotz may be suitable, but understanding the potential downsides is critical before making an appointment.

Pet Shotz Inc.: Reviews
Negative experience: Terrible place and super long waiting period...don't bring your pets here and the front receptionist was super rude....I was the first one to drop off my pet and it seems I was the last one to pick up. Just a simple spayed cat with no complications...
Negative experience: Based off the “owners “ response to these reviews I will never set foot into this establishment. People saying it’s about $ & in my opinion the response to their review is disheartening & contains little to no compassion for the actual pet just “attempts to justify the amount paid” If I take my pet to you & there is an issue. I would be highly disappointed if the establishment responded the way they have. If people are doing right by the community & bringing in TNR pets , the least you can do is not nickel & dime them & respond like it’s perfectly fine since they chose to do right & spay that cat. Do better.
Negative experience: NEVER Answer the phone!!! No options to leave message or number for call back
Negative experience: I would give zero stars if I could. No empathy or concern for my pet. I should have read the reviews before coming. First off as stated in other reviews they throw other charges your way. $10 fee because she was in heat when she wasn’t bleeding at home whatever. Fee for lactating which she wasn’t at home. Whatever. Then they charged for bloodwork and a scraping and a shampoo and foam which I actually noticed that they sent the same items home with other animals as well. The place is complete chaos the poor girl was doing everything alone. Completely disorganized one lady charging me one thing and the other telling me another. I was supposed to leave paying $300 and ended up paying $700 for a skin allergy I knew she had. Fast forward to bringing my cat Sonny home. His incision area looked not cleaned up for one. Spots of blood in his carrier. We picked him up at 5:30 right after they called us to get him so I figured I would see if he was still bleeding in the morning which he was . freaked my teenager out we called all morning until they opened. They told us to bring him in which we did. They refused to check his incision site unless we paid again and then continued to let us know that any other medication will be out of our pocket. No concern to even look at his incision just money hungry. Never saw the vet once just kept sending his techs outs who seem rushed and flustered. Pay the money and take them to a more professional clinic with vets who care. This whole situation was rushed and disorganized. I do not recommend.
Fantastic experience: I have been bringing my pets to Pet Shotz since 2013, and I can confidently say they have been nothing short of exceptional every single year. Finding a veterinary clinic you can fully trust with your fur babies is priceless, and Pet Shotz has earned that trust over and over again. The entire team is compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely dedicated to the well-being of the animals they care for. You can tell they truly love what they do. They take their time, answer questions thoroughly, and always make me feel confident in the care my pets are receiving. On top of that, their pricing is incredibly reasonable, which makes quality veterinary care accessible without sacrificing professionalism or compassion. After more than a decade of consistent excellence, I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else. Pet Shotz isn’t just a vet clinic, they’re a place that truly cares. Highly recommend to anyone looking for trustworthy, dedicated, and affordable veterinary care.
Positive experience: I just wish it was communicated a little better that this is a drop off appointment, not an actual appointment.
Negative experience: Do not take your pet here they over Charge you for services, and for Medication, refer you to their specialist for Surgery that also charge outrageous price for service to your fur Babies, false advertisement and want to charge if you want the X-rays that you paid for, it might a Drive But take your Pet elsewhere, anywhere else you will be treated Better
Fantastic experience: They are welcoming like your family, great care received, great vet!
Fantastic experience: Staff is amazing had to wait a bit but I’m pretty sure it was because there was just one chick busting her behind doing the work of 10 people she was amazing! I watched her answer phones take in pets and then turn around and send them home all while appearing to be suffering with allergies and still wearing a smile! Give that girl a paid vaycay!!!
Positive experience: The receptionist was rude. Care techs were nice. Vet informative. 1300 total for exam, eye exam, shots, 2 medication and nail trim. Cat.
Negative experience: READ THE REVIEWS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! I just spent 15 mins going through low ratings. They all consist of the same negative comments. Such as: “miserable/rude staff”, “Bogus charges” “lying” etc. The response from the “owner” confirms everything you need to know! Report these people to : BBB Report the veterinary care team to the state of Texas. This place needs to be investigated!
Fantastic experience: Brandon …. Brandon … Brandon….. the nicest and most empathetic veterinarian tech there could ever be…. He is so knowledgeable and kind to my doggies Casper and Chambers…Brandon I thank u for taking the extra time to make my dogs well…. I’ve been coming to see Dr.Rogers for the past 15 years with my prior doggies and have never been able to go anywhere else… not because I have no other choices but because this place is top of the line in taking care of the dogs I love so very much … YES there can be a wait but the price is always amazing and the treatment is superb…. God bless u guys for working so hard to help us get our animals well and keeping the costs down…
Fantastic experience: We got a new member of our family and needed the full works; shots, chipped, and spayed. Luckily brought our new kitten in the doctor was able to catch a respiratory infection that she had that I hadn’t even noticed(yet) Thank goodness for A vet that cares Since we took care of that, our baby girl just got spayed yesterday the team at this Office is so nice It’s very convenient because drop off and then pick up almost went right along with my work hours!
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience here. Our primary vet recently retired, and it was time to get a male cat that I inherited fixed. I was a little apprehensive because it was quite a drive for me, but I was pleasantly surprised Dr. Brown and his team were really good about communicating so drop off and pick up went smooth and my cat is happy And no longer spraying around the house.
Fantastic experience: There were very good in costumer service and took good care of my BBY Ruby.
Positive experience: I have been to this facility a few times to get feral cats spayed, and the usual charge was $25. This time, I called Pets Shotz to schedule an appointment for another feral cat and was quoted $35 after providing my zip code. I was told to expect a text message with more information, but I never received it, and the front desk staff confirmed that it was not sent. When I arrived, I was charged an extra $20 for not bringing the cat in a specific trap, which I was not informed about when making the appointment. During the procedure, the technician discovered an eye infection and demanded an additional $75 for antibiotics, which I reluctantly paid to ensure the cat's health. The total cost came out to be $130, which I believe was unfair. However, the surgery seemed to be done well, and the cat recovered quickly, but I felt misinformed about the costs.
Fantastic experience: A blessing to have brought my kitten here otherwise I believe the kitten died. He had kidney problems. They’re very nice very generous. I’m very happy.
Fantastic experience: Quick and knowledgeable staff! Love how close it is to the neighborhood, will definitely be coming back for all my cat's annuals
Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming here for years for my cat’s annual shots, as well as bringing in feral cats for TNR. I’ve never had any issues the staff is always super friendly, helpful, and informative if I have any questions. Their prices are much better than other places, and I highly recommend this clinic! I’ll definitely keep coming here and have already recommended them to several people looking for affordable, quality care for their animals.
Fantastic experience: I've bin taking mine and all my families animals here for year's. Prices are always the same, cheaper than any other vet in san antonio and the staff are always friendly respectful and kind.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Rogers and his staff have cared for my animals for many years he has helped spay and neuter countless feral cats for my neighbors and I as we are trying to get the entire colony fixed. We have never had a problem with our cats recovering and appreciate being given the option of taking medications home or having staff give injections whenever one of our babies needs extra treatment… we all know how difficult giving a cat medications can be let alone a feral cat. He also uses dissolving sutures so we don’t have to worry about retrapping for a surgical follow up. He always takes the time to explain everything to us and always has the time to fit us into his busy schedule if we unexpectedly trap a cat.
Fantastic experience: always great and always takes good care of my dog maple.
Negative experience: I took a feral cat to get fixed today yes they get you in fast once they tell you amount I payed it .they call you with all these other things there going to charge you for.even if your in a zip code supposed to be discounted. I told them I'm not paying that amount Mrs Johnson called me and said come pick up your cat we're not doing the surgery so instead of 35 dollars it can go up to over 200.i took over 15 cats to the other location by the zoo never had a problem.i will not be going back..it's all about the money I don't mind paying but that's not right .no wonder there's so many cats and dogs in San Antonio...
We are not all about money. We have our own stray cat program that is not funded by any source. We started the program in 2014 and have helped thousands of feral cats. Most feral cat trappers understand that these cats come in without any medical history or treatment known for conditions which are present at time of presentation to the clinic. As in your case the pet had conditions which needed to be treated . We will give the option of treatment so the pet can have a chance to heal but if the trapper chooses not to treat it is out of our control. We report what we see and suggest treatment. Treatment at ANY clinic has a cost associated. And as explained you could call 311 to find aid in treatment. You chose to pick up the feral cat which is your choice since the cat is feral and not owned by anyone. You may want to make sure the feral cats you are trapping are healthy and have been examined prior to wanting to put them under for elective surgery. Hope this helps. Thanks for the review.
Negative experience: DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!!! I first had one of our cats spayed here because I read the reviews stating they were good and reasonably priced. The wait took hours both for drop-off and pick-up. We live 30 minutes away they called us and told us she was ready and I still ended up waiting another 45 minutes to get her back. I never saw the Vet once! I figured this might be because it was a surgery day. When we went in for the follow-up again hours of waiting just to get her dropped off after arriving 10 minutes before the appointment. I didn't see the vet only the vet tech and he told us that she had an infection. We'd kept her isolated, got newspaper for her potty, changed it every time she used it, and gave her meds as directed. I thought it might have been a coincidence but the next client they had for a checkup that was there the same day we were for surgery also had an infection. In October I brought one of my other cats in because she had a growth. Again I waited hours to have her taken back. Again I didn't actually see the vet. They told me it would be $393 just for the exam because she needed x-rays to see the mass. I thought because this place was supposed to be more affordable and it was going to be an extensive exam that I was getting a deal. Then, they told us the surgery would be $780.00 and they could do it same day. We weren't sure if it was cancerous so we went ahead and had it done. We went back for a follow-up. Again no vet, hours of waiting to have her taken back, the staples removed and AGAIN she had an infection after we followed post-op instructions to the T. I noticed they told at least two other clients their post-op pets had an infection. I started to see the trend of "infections". We took her back to get the wound looked at because even though she was in a cone the whole time I could still see a couple of stitches through her wound. I'm sure you can guess more hours of waiting, no vet, another infection and another few other post-op pets who also had infections. They told me they were going to give her a local numbing agent to help them clean up the wound and get it re-stapled. When she came out the wound was double what it was and the stapling looked like a complete hack job she had her belly folds stapled together instead of a clean incision. I understand they needed to open it enough get a new clean incision but this was excessive. Today we finally took her to St. Francis Vet and they were very nice, it is very clean, we got in quickly, and I saw a vet. The Dr. didn't say as much because they were professional enough to not bad mouth another establishment but their face told me that the job is as much of a hack as I thought it was. Our cat is again having to undergo another surgery but at St. Francis Vet it's way more affordable. I'm so heartbroken for our cat. She's been in a cone since October 17th. I feel like such a fool for ever trusting Pet Shotz and most of all I feel so betrayed and cheated. DON'T BRING YOUR PET OR MONEY HERE!!! ***Response to "owner". The lies in your response are unreal. I was never in contact with the vet last I checked a Vet Tech is not a Vet. Sorry you thought you could convince me otherwise. I never agreed to additional testing aside from having the xray which was "required". So, if I was charged for anything beyond that maybe we should discuss a refund. I can't afford anything beyond the surgery even if she does have cancer. Our goal is to prolong her quality of life by removing the growth. Suggesting that I am not a "caring pet owner" because I can't afford further testing is disturbing. We waited because again we didn't have the budget to get things done before we did. I would suggest re-reading your post before submitting so you don't appear to not know how to spell or come off as someone who is responding with unprofessional anger. Also, try reading up on online etiquette it's not professional to put things in all caps as it considered yelling. I would hope you're not in the habit of yelling at your clients. I wouldn't consider 3 stars "successful".
Thanks for your review. We strive to help pets with various conditions at reasonable costs. You pets condition and test results was discussed with you by our veterinarian in person before any procedure was approved as you as fully aware. The cost of what you choose to spend it totally your decision PRIOR to Anything being performed because we do not do any testing without consent , signature of approval be owner and completed payment. As you are aware. This is for all customers. There is also an area to decline services that the customer would initial BEFORE anything is done. In your case you chose to pay for the needed extended testing to determine is your pet had cancer which is serous and requires additional testing as you approved. We are here to help determine the health of your pet and do not take short cuts . We also recommended the growth be removed and tested for cancer and you declined thsy option. We give all caring pet owners the option to do further pathology testing at an outdise laboratory to give them peace mind and know exactly what may be growing on their pet for quite some time as in your case. The cost of the out side laboratory is not under Pet Shotz control as discussed with you by our veterinarian in person at the time of you viewing the xray in person while the veterinarian showed you the mass. Unfortunately is owners allow a mass to become larger it will cost more to remove it. We are not in business to overcharge our customers for conditions they bring to us to review. We do caution customers not to wait until the condition is more costly and difficult to remove as I your case. We have been helping satisfied customers since 2006. Thank for you input
Fantastic experience: Sent my cat in for a spay and shots. She hated the cone but the techs had stressed to me to keep the cone on for her stitches to heal properly, sent her home with meds for the pain and she’s been doing great.
Thanks
Negative experience: Worst place ever, be forewarned do not take your pet here! I should have known by how filthy the lobby was and how unfriendly the staff was in my first impression. They claim to care about animals and help with financial assistance. Because I rescue so many animals from the streets of San Antonio, I figured I would try this place. What a costly mistake, I took 3 of my healthy rescue cats there to be spayed and neutered. When I picked them up, they were all very out of it. I brought them home and kept an eye on them feeding them and giving them their meds. When I woke up the next morning, all 3 of my cats were dead. This continued on to the rest of my rescue cat colony, ultimately killing 32 of my rescue cats. Stay away from here, they should be shut down.
We appreciate all input but lies should not be warranted. I don't think someone would wait for the amount of their pets to have been harmed and keep coming for services.
Negative experience: Me and my fiancé brought our cat in to get spayed and we waited hours to be seen and then we dropped her off we came back later when they called saying she’s ready and we got here 30 minutes after they called and we got here and waited an hour for them to give her to us we came back for a follow up waited again for a long time and told us she had an infection and her belly is swollen
Thanks for your review . Wait times vary depending on the flow of customers returning for pick up. Traffic at times will have everyone show up at same time even though we call at different times throughout the day. We cannot control that we just work as best we can to get all services done
As explained about the future site if the pet tapers with the area (licks or rubs site,) it may infinite the area which may cause it to be infected. We have no control over what the pet does once it leaves the clinic as explained. We recommend NOT to take off collar because this will be the result of which we have not control over when pet is at home under owners care.
Fantastic experience: Being a first time cat mom for the past two years this has been my 2 babies vet! Dr Rogers and his team is amazing! Shout out to Brandon and the two front desk girls maaaaaan they work Amazing under pressure and never give attitude back to the impatient people! But this goes for all the staff there. Wait times can be long sometimes but Being the most affordable clinic in my opinion you need to have patience!! 10/10 would recommend to others.
Thank you
Fantastic experience: I made an appointment for our cat - I was able to call and get her scheduled fairly quickly on a Saturday. Arrive early for her appt and they took her right away. She had to have surgery to remove a calcium blockage in her bladder. Surgery was a couple hours and by the time we picked her up she was lucid and meowing once she heard us. The doctor went over everything again showed us the stone and her X-rays. We’ve taken all our cats and dog to them for years and will usually work with you on ca be done V what we can afford. Thank you pet shotz for taking care of miss brenda
Thanks we appreciate you
Fantastic experience: Been bringing my pets to Pet Shotz when they were by the SA Zoo. I first brought my dog Bonez and was treated quickly. Next was two of my cats who had UTI’s at separate times and both times they have treated each cat like they were their own. Dr.rogers has been very supportive
Thanks
Fantastic experience: The staff is super friendly and Dr Roger’s goes over everything with you. I love that I can drop off anytime before 5pm.
Yes you can !!!Glad we could be of service
Fantastic experience: Dr. Fretorry and the entire veterinary team provided exceptional, precise care during my dog’s spay surgery. They handled her microchip and vaccines effortlessly, and the low-cost services made the experience even better. Fast, seamless in-and-out care—highly recommend this clinic for compassionate, reliable pet treatment.
We appreciate you!!
Fantastic experience: This place is good for service on a budget. You do have to have patience though.
Thanks
Negative experience: The worst clinic, not they care about the health of your animals, they only want to charge 6 times more than what the medication costs, the care is bad, they just want the money, the worst clinic that exists in San Antonio, if you want your pet to recover, you do not fence that clinic, the doctor does not care about the health of the animals, he only cares about the money, apart from charging too much, for medication, the value of each medication is exaggerated, if I could give him 1 extrella, I would do it.
We do not charge six times more than what it should be. We have many customers bringing quotes from other clinics that may. That is not us. Hope this helps
Fantastic experience: I came to get my cat her vaccines & was on a pinch for time. They got me in & out as said!
Fantastic experience: Very satisfied very clean love this clinic. Animals never came home crying or with an infection they're very very good up here come see for yourself.
Fantastic experience: Great doctors and staff! Saved this little guy we adopted. Explained everything and very fair pricing.
Fantastic experience: I’m so thankful we found this place! Very affordable prices, I’m very satisfied with our experience!
Fantastic experience: Great service, affordable prices, and fast! Took my puppy in and everything went smoothly.
Fantastic experience: Great prices and professional staff. This is a must when looking for affordable vaccines for ur pet. No appt necessary.
Fantastic experience: What a wonderful place… I’m so happy that I found them! Very affordable, efficient, and quick service! They did my dog and cat and were very professional. Highly recommend
Fantastic experience: Love this place always helpful and works with schedule. I bring all the strays that get dumped out in my area here and they take wonderful care of them before I bring them back to live in the neighborhood with shots and such.
Fantastic experience: Pet Shotz was kind and helpful. Dr.Rogers helped me save money. My dog needed a lot of teeth removed, and Dr. Rogers was very helpful and didn't charge me for all the extractions. Made the appointment yesterday and was able to be seen today. Thank you for helping my dog.
Negative experience: They'll try to up charge you. They give you a low price then tell you it's more once you drop off your pet. Read the Reviews. Take your pets Elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: Great service they take a bit long but it’s worth it experience is always great I been here multiple times
Fantastic experience: Dr. Roger’s and staff did a great job. Treated my wife and I really well and took great care of our cat. Will be returning with our other pets in the future.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Rogers very good man God bless him. You truly help my dog. I saved this dog on the street and he did some free services for me. I just hope everything works out for her. Say a prayer. Amen. My name is Danny.
Positive experience: I brought my two cats for a rabies vaccine having never been here before. To get their rabies vaccines, they required me to vaccinate them for two more things (neither of which are required by the state). In addition, this place is the opposite of a calming environment for animals. They have a loud tv on in the wait area, and it was on loop making annoying sounds that would stress out any animal that comes here. Staff were slamming doors and talking loudly. To top it off, one of the guys started mopping the wait room, which is small and has no ventilation, with a very strong smelling chemical cleaner while people were in there waiting for their pets. I took my pets outside it was so bad. The doctor was nice, but I met him after the exam because they don’t have an exam room -meaning you can’t go back with your pet(s).
Fantastic experience: The staff is very kind and very caring to keep my cat up to date on everything she needs. The prices are amazing here as well.
Fantastic experience: I was a little nervous about leaving my fur baby and I called a lot getting on their nerves, but needless to say she was ok. Everything was explained to us and we will be back. Dr don’t take so long with our baby we miss her lol!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Rogers is the BEST. He was born to be a healer. Dr. Rogers gave us a much needed detailed explanation of all that was going on with our baby's eye condition. He not only did a full examination and labs but took the time to explain what all the numbers meant to the well being of our precious fur companion. He gave us a comprehensive "plan of attack" and was demonstrably caring and compassionate. I would be remiss if I failed to mention that Pet Shotz, along with having the great Dr Rogers, also has very affordable prices. Thank you Pet Shotz!
Fantastic experience: Pet Shotz is the place to go especially if you can't afford costly vet bill. Dr Roger's is very thorough and will personally talk to you about your pets health and make appropriate recommendations.
Negative experience: Poor service this place charges you for work that is not needed and they didn’t even remove stitches that they used for the surgery. Blood work/ test and more test that a dog doesn’t need. All they needed to do was remove stitches that they put on since they don’t use dissolvable ones. Then they want to charge me for more and more test. This place is a scam. DO NOT GO!
Negative experience: True pet lovers, if you love your fur animal, please do not take them to this place. They do not care about animals, all they care is about money. They are okay with charging a person for a dead animal versus offering condolences and actually caring. Please, find a place that truly cares!
Negative experience: This Never ever will I take my dog back. Do not take your loved one to PetShotz. When I called they said $36.00 exam fee does not include XRays. When I get there they said my dog needs kennel cough shot and some other shot because my dog is going to be around other dogs also needed microchip, blood work to know what kind of meds to give him and XRays. They expected me to pay $350.00 at the receptionist desk before the Doctor can see him. How can they demand this astronomical amount of money without the Doctor laying eyes on him or touching him. I walked out immediately. My dog fell from a ledge and was in pain the Doctor would not see my dog or touch my dog to find out what was hurting him unless I paid $350.00 first then the Dr can exam him. My dog probably only needed some pain medicine for bruising. My dog sucked it up and woke up running and jumping. They are not about caring or evaluating an animal in agony. They are a scam and should not be demanding money for services that are NOT a necessity or is needed to help an animal. Very bad pet clinic.
Negative experience: I brought my 1 yr old male puppy in for neutering at 9am, I received a call at 4pm my dog was dead & no explanation of why. They had multiple excuses & kept changing their story. When I wanted to pick up his body, they lied & said he was sent out for cremation. I called the cremation facility and told me they never picked him up & never received a call to pick him up. So I had to call the police & they went inside and found my dog & gave him to me. My dog was perfectly healthy. He was pooping & peeing normally, ate & drank normally and was very playful all with zero problems. This let's office manager called me to tell me he was dead, instead of the doctor calling me. When we arrived at 4:35pm, he still had a bloody tube sticking out of his mouth & the doctor pointed out to me, the sink that had 3 other bloody cubes that he said was from my dog ! The doctor nor the office manager never once gave condolences & acted like nothing was wrong , like it was just routine ! And they never refunded any of my money back, not even for the meds I was supposed to go with for him ! Lie after lie after lie with these people, trying to cover up their negligence & trying to hide my dogs body from me taking him. And i got nothing but excuses of why i couldn't have his medical records. The doctor's license should be pulled & everyone fired with a criminal record....
Fantastic experience: I got my cat spayed. I called yesterday and they were able to fit me in ASAP. They gave me pain meds, a microchip, and vaccines all for $68 (spay was free for zipcode grant)! The staff seemed overwhelmed in the morning but they were all so kind. These guys are doing amazing work.
Fantastic experience: Dr Rogers was great! Super helpful with all my puppy shots
Fantastic experience: I had a positive experience getting my pet vaccinated. The clinic is affordable compared to others.
Negative experience: SCAM DO NOT give your credit card - I dropped off A 4 month old pedigree puppy that had never been outside because she hadn’t had her shots yet (The main reason for the visit) and I was too scared to allow her outside without having had her shots— I received a phone call asking for an additional $140 saying that they found four ticks on her -this puppy weighed not even 10lbs And as I stated before, had never been outside -didn’t even have one Flea on her much less for ticks When I questioned the caller That was demanding the additional $140 that he stated MUST be paid -(I’m sure he was hoping that I would do the easiest thing - pay by credit card over the phone-) I was told if I wanted to proceed Because of the high risk of disease that these four ticks (That they never could show me even when I picked the puppy back up) They couldn’t show me one flea or tick. They refused to give me the name of the caller- They only Refunded the cash portion that I had paid (I’d put $30 on a gift card that I was given and trying to use up-) please be aware I’ve used Pet Shotz for years And have had my credit cards compromised in the past (I can’t say for certain it was Pet Shotz -it wasn’t until yesterday when they were so blatantly obviously lying, and requesting my credit card that all the bells and whistles went off!!!!! Please, I encourage anyone else that’s experience fraud on the bank account after going to Pet Shotz that they too get a hold of their bank and report this fraud to the police. These people need to be shut down. It’s a credit card scam and they’re using our fur babies to exploit us for more money.!!!!
Fantastic experience: Was quick and easy process. Staff was amazing and knowledgeable. The vet was the bomb too!!! Great place to bring your pets!!!
Fantastic experience: They handled my two senior cats with Care and were very affordable! There will most likely be wait times or you will be dropping your pet off to be picked up later, however for the care and the price I think it’s worth it!
Fantastic experience: The staff here always answers all of our questions and they have taken really good care of our puppy. Sometimes there is a wait, but this clinic is part of the city’s free spay and neuter services so it does make sense Considering the number of people and pets that they help every day.
Negative experience: EDIT TO UPDATE: Since I can not respond to them - my pet was not sick at 1st visit. She has a scab on face from fleas. I had just rescued her days before! They knew all that when I was quoted the $52, but nice cover up story! I will not go back! 1) nickle and dime you, told 1 price when call or schedule then give another price. Exp. Was told our dogs follow up visit and booster vaccine would come to $52, was then charged $70 and could not tell me why the difference, zero apology. 2) wait times are ridiculous, told dog is ready but then have to wait 30-60min., every time! Which leads me to 3) 2 appointments, 2 weeks apart. You think they would have fixed the dang fire alarm that beeps every minute, the whole time, but it's still beeping. 4) cleanliness- we'll see if I can post the roach picture, not to mention I feel like I'm covered in fleas every time I walk in, id hate to see what back area looks like. 5) receptionist needs some serious people skills, never smiles, is rude, and gives nasty looks when you ask a question. Save your time and money and find some where else.
Thank you for your review. Your vaccines were qouted correctly. However your pet was sick on previous visit and needed a recheck to make sure she was well enough before being administered the vaccine which cost $25 for recheck as explained at time of check in when you authorized and prepaid for the services you requested. Hope this helps. Thank you
Fantastic experience: Was very thorough in the care of my newly adopted street cat. The scabies are showing signs that the treatment is working and the mites are going away. Very knowledgeable in everything they do with many years experience it shows in how they work. Will keep coming back.
Yes we are happy to help get your new pet in great health!!! Thanks for the kind words!!
Fantastic experience: I love this Vet. Ive been bringing my pets here for years. My boy had heartworm and they took care of him with the utmost dignity and was affordable. The wait may be long but that's because so many people take advantage of their care and cost.
Thank you for your continued appreciation of pur services. We appreciate you too!!!! And yes we see many unscheduled walk ins which may take a while but we offer drop off service to prevent customers waiting but some dont take advantage of this option.
Fantastic experience: They saved me $2000 on dental care for my older dog. They were very busy but still answered the phones and greeted me with kindness and courtesy. They were able to get us in quickly and did an awesome job. Thank you
Glad we could help you and your beautiful fur baby!!
Positive experience: Doctor, tech, and front desk all very professional and courteous. The reason I didn't give 5-stars is because you can not schedule an appointment. They take walk-ins only so you have to leave your pet off and they will call you when to return. I live very far and this is a big inconvenience especially since the follow-up appointment is handled the same way. I left my pet off at 11:00 due to an injury and was not able to pick-up until after 7pm. Both times the cat was confined for 8 hrs. Unfortunately, in the future I will seek out veterinarian care that takes appointments so that I am in and out.
Your pet had an injury which required additoinal time to porperly treat as we did. Glad we could be of help!!!
Negative experience: Charged for additional recommendations and a lot of extra hidden fees included. Poor communication on top of it all. If you want to save a dollar, make some calls around before deciding on the vet.
We do not have hidden cost. We use a carbon copy form for all customers with all testing and products listed clearly on form for all to view. Thanks for your review.
Fantastic experience: Staff very friendly and helpful. Doc did a great service on treating my cat michi meow. He answered my questions and explained michi’s diagnosis. Was welcome before closing, pricing very affordable. 5/5
Thanks and glad we could.be of service to you!!!! Please come again!!
Fantastic experience: Pet Shotz really care for your fur babies. You can get quick appointments and affordable pricing. Have been doing business with Pet Shotz for 13 years now.
Yes we do make appointments also!!!! You have been a long term customer and we appreciate your valuable words in this review! Tis will help to clarify that we do walk ins as well as appointments!!! Thanks
Negative experience: When taking my cat and refusing vaccines they then tried adding on an extra $50 fee saying my cat was over weight (she was 11lbs 6yrs old) When recovering my cat the following day I brought her home to notice she was infested with fleas I called back to tell them my cat didn’t have fleas when she was dropped off and now she had fleas just bouncing off of her. They said there was nothing they could do that their clinic had been very full and she fight have gotten fleas from the cage and that there was nothing they could do.
Thanks for your review. We charge additional $10 obese pet fee if applicable. Additional flea prevention is at cost and not a free product as explained. Hope this helps
Fantastic experience: The Doctor is great and always attentive. Been bringing my Baby Boy Dexter Dog to Him since He was a Pup and now is 15+.
Yes yes yes!!!! You have been here with us fot years
And we truly appreciate you!!!
Fantastic experience: We had a great first experience! We came in as a walk in and didn’t have to wait long and the staff was very friendly.
Thanks for ypur review we appreciate it!!
Negative experience: All I can say is miscommunication, extra fees, long wait time for pick ups. I am beyond upset with the costs and services provided or lack of I should say.. never again! Only pleasant person was Amber. She gets 5 stars for her kindness! I was charged for anesthesia. Even though my dog didn't get spayed due to a skin infection/allergy. Wish they would've checked her first! Dropped her off before 10 a.m. Tech calls around 3pm to inform me regarding rash and that bloodwork is needed. Bloodwork done because I gave a verbal over the phone. I was on hold to pay and line kept getting disconnected. Then I changed my mind. Finally got thru and said no to bloodwork. 68 bucks initally for a vaccine they say she needed, nail trim and microchip, which was fine. THEN 210.00 for anesthesia, meds and bloodwork since I gave a verbal on the phone ...why put her under BEFORE checking her tummy?!?!. And why shave her making her allergies worse?!?!..I go to pick her up and waited an hr and a half.....furious..just furious..I made a bad choice in taking her there.
Thanks for your review. We examine pets and if after the thick hair is shaved away and skin clearly exposed if treatment is needed we will recommend it as in your case. Once approved and prepaid with owner consent is the time when we will render service . As in your case was fully explained. Hope this clarification helps. Thank you
Negative experience: The best thing about this clinic is Brandon and the receptionist. I took my kitten to get spayed 2 weeks ago. When I first walked in, the smoke alarm beeped. And kept beeping. Low battery. As I sat in the waiting room, I noticed how much dust was on EVERYTHING! I was never called to the back to meet the doctor. They just took my kitten. 2 weeks later... I take kitten back to get her stitch(es) removed and booster shots. They said I had an 11am appointment but could show up any time after that. Keep in mind, it's just stitch removal and a booster. BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! For TWO majestic hours!!! Yep, the smoke alarm battery has yet to be replaced after 2 weeks. I sat for so long that my back was hurting, so I started walking around. Small place, so it's not too far to walk around. That's when I noticed the extreme grime and dust everywhere. It was appalling! I so wish i would've taken pictures. I could keep going on about this place, but if you've read this far, I think you get the point.
We offereed drop off but you chose to wait. If we have additoonal treat.e to do on your pet it was best to drop off but we cannot decide for the owner as in your case would have been better to drop off as we needed additinal time for your pet. If all is well thne suture removal takes about 15min all things being ok. Your case was not typical.
Negative experience: What a horrible experience. This place is all about the money, not the pets. They demand payment before even examining your animal, and once you decline certain medications, they suddenly “decide” your pet needs more treatment—without even having done a proper evaluation. I asked for an itemized list to review the medications they planned to use, and they refused to provide it unless I committed to the services first. That’s shady. Transparency and care should come first at a vet clinic—not upselling and pressure. I would never recommend this place to anyone who actually cares about their pet’s wellbeing.
Thanks for your review. We offer treatment plans for your sick pet. As explained by the staff we will not perform any treatments until they have been explained and review by the owner and prepaid for the selected services. We do not force owners to do any treatments but we will review the recommended treatment plan as done in many vet clinics proir to performing services.
Fantastic experience: Thank you so much Dr. Rogers! You and your staff really took care of my baby boy (Malcom, male cat). I knew I couldn’t help him on my own and I’m so glad I came here. Thanks for the explanation of what was needed (walked right thru everything, I feel like an vet now ha jk) and being real human about what I needed to do, not pushing me to get something I didn’t need for him. I really appreciate that. Definitely coming back, I got that check up locked in!
Thank you so much and thanks for your view on how well we actually do explain what ypur pet needs and recommend the best course of action to make your per better!!! We will see you again!!!! Thank you
Negative experience: If your pet received antibiotics and stitches on the same day, the vet might require an exam to check how the antibiotics worked before removing the stitches. This is especially concerning if your pet has a pre-existing condition, like being born without a bottom lip, and there's no visible infection. It can be frustrating if you feel the exam is unnecessary, especially if the stitches are from a separate procedure like neutering, and the lip condition is unrelated. Wow !!
Infection can come from a totally unrelated area of the body. Thus the trained veterinarian knows to check for the safety of the procedure. Glad we could help in your case a d make certain your furbaby was safe before undergoing a surgical procedure. We are here to help
Fantastic experience: Helpful staff & great vet! Our older lab who is generally very nervous around other animals and staff can have a hard time, but he was excited & happy when we came to pick him up after his care!
Yay!!!! He had a great visit with us!!! We will see you again !!!
Fantastic experience: This place is so friendly they took very good care of my baby we were in and out in no problem. Definitely will be coming back to get his shots they were quick but checked all the boxs.
Yay!!! We will see you soon!!!
Negative experience: I am so disgusted reading these reviews, shame on you people. This place should not be allowed to continue their practices. Even their responses are gross. They do not care about your pets, they only care to milk every penny out of their customers. You people need help I will NEVER let my baby set paw in this disaster of a business.
You should review a place you actually have used. Hope this helps
Fantastic experience: They were budget friendly and super nice and helpful with my kitten. The vet took the time to talk to me personally and explain everything that was done and what was needed. Very nice people.
Thanks for ypur kind words and glad you had a wonderful experience!!
Negative experience: Giving them a one star, bc giving no stars wasn’t an option. My story sounds exactly like the many left in their reviews. Came here to get my two female dogs fixed. There was no cost breakdown, no explanation of their processes and different possible outcomes. You pretty much go in blind relying on good faith, since you’re dealing with a “PROFESSIONAL.” But, was I totally wrong!!! So, to help other locals here it is… they will not treat your dog without shots, they will not accept paper records of their shots, has to be digital. If you want your dogs treated they will require you to get your shots with them and the boosters as well. You also won’t even know if they’re receiving these shots you’ve paid for since you’re not able to go to the back. There is an “extra blood fee,” if your dog is getting fixed. Which is funny since they don’t clean all the blood off when you pick your pet up. Everyone of their employees will tell you different reasons regarding price fluctuations, which definitely spells CROOKS. When you bring your dog to get sutures removed, be prepared to pay for whatever new reasons they come up with. Also, know that a little bit of time means at least two hours, god forbid you have other errands to run. I totally understand what they’re doing here, but damn at least take the time to explain y’all’s cost, reasoning and possible outcomes before hand. Leaving a client blind and in a tough spot isn’t professional at all.
Thanks for your review. As explained the day proir to your procedure when you were texted the full information from 210-505-3778 (appointment line) all information is given in writing and once at check in is explained with no hidden fees with the option of the owner to decline immediately. We are not crooks. We are here to help and have an excellent vet who has been serving the San Antonio pet owners since 2006 as noted in the wonder publication. Thanks for the nice pic also!!! We appreciate you!!
Negative experience: Don’t go here they’re a mess and they’re penny pinchers try to get you to pay for things you don’t need because they assume you don’t know anything. A kitten with a tiny bit of clear eye boogers does not need a $100 chest X-ray.
Altough google may have opinions on treatments is best to let a trained vet deternine the pets needs. Dr. Google may mislead pet owners and cause more harm than help. Our trained staff exams and recommends needed testing and treatments. As awlays the owner can accept or decline
Negative experience: If I could give them zero stars I would. After dropping our girl off in the morning to get spayed, we called at 4pm (they close at 5 and expect you to pick up your pet same day) and they hadn’t even sedated or started with her. I didn’t want them to rush her or to have to pick her up too soon after surgery, I asked them to take her out of line and we would just pick her up. I guess that upset them and they insisted we pay for her sedation and sedation reversal even though she hadn’t been sedated yet. We didn’t want to put her thought that but to keep the peace, we ended up paying. After a long wait, we were finally able to pick her up from this horrible place. Initially we thought they were just busy but after digging deeper in the reviews I feel like a horrible dog mom for even bringing her here. Definitely not worth any discounted prices they offer
Yes ……We may get busy at pick up times and top off times. We call all customers once the procedure that they have pre authorized and paid for has been complete. We cannot perform services without the owners approval and prepayment for services. We have many procedures during the day and call customers once the procedure has been done. Which may be after 5pm. We may often stay until 8pm to make sure all pets have recovered and are alert from the procedure.
Negative experience: Be cautious going here. Got our female cat spayed here and here and had to take her to another vet due to infection and her incision opening. Also they “gave” her a microchip yet it’s not showing up and the new vet said they couldn’t feel it or find it.
Fantastic experience: There is plenty of clean parking. The receptionist was very friendly. The only wait time I had was that of my paperwork, and when I was done, they took my fur baby to the back. I'm very impressed with this location. I would definitely recommend them to care for your fur baby.
Thanks
Negative experience: Worse service and extremely over priced / up charges.. They told me to just get ride of my puppies cause I might npt be able to afford them long term.. wth?? 140 office visit, 100 shots, another amount for worm medicine plus 180 to be spayed.. WTH.. Had my pug for 9 years, now I am helping save these American Bullys and this was thier crappie advise rather then just let me buy the worm medicine..
Negative experience: If i could give it zero stars, I would. This place makes appointments and tells you its going to be a certain price or even free (depending on zipcode) only to change the price when you get there! And its not an isolated incident either as there was another person in front of me that was also quoted a much lower price only to have it switched to a few hundred dollars! And they aren't even apologetic or fixing the problem. They just say, "OH, they should have told you on the phone. So do you want to still do it or not? " I drove with a dog and two small kids across town in traffic after being told I only had to pay for pain meds and shots (less than $50) and when I got there it was suddenly over $200. Avoid this place!!!
Fantastic experience: I took my cat to get sprayed she’s healing really fast the pain medicine worked great. They did an excellent job! I’m so happy and satisfied. She’s also eating alot more food now! Thank you everyone!
Fantastic experience: I’ve brought my fur babies here a few times now for different services, and I have been completely satisfied each time. They really will take care of you and the price for their services is the best around!
Negative experience: When u call in ask them if the spay or neutered price includes everything. The lady on the phone will tell you yes everything thing is included and gave me a price of $300. They call me after and said my dog needed fluids because she was dehydrated. So to take her home she needed vaccines and antibiotics and fluids so now it's up to $600 dollars. Now I'm back ten days later to remove the stitches and it is up to $670. If I knew i was going to pay this price I would have spent the money at a more reputable and much cleaner place. Don't lie and tell me it's 300 and then charge me 670. Don't come here cause once they start on your pet they charge u whatever you want to get your dog back
Negative experience: I truly want to get my pet taken care of here due to the prices, but after the phone call I just had, and reading the reviews, I’m afraid the prices may rise once I get inside. I may just end up having to cancel my appointment, if I had a better phone call, then reviews wouldn’t have touched my opinion, but something tells me not to take my fur baby here… ETA- I would like to edit my review and say I’m glad I listened to my intuition!!!
Positive experience: The clinic vaccinated my dog quite fast; we were there for only about 20 minutes. However, I have one complaint about the process: they don't offer individual vaccines, and you have to pay $120 to get all of them done at once. Unfortunately, the clinic has an unpleasant odor, and the front desk staff isn't very welcoming.
Negative experience: They messed up the first time we got our cat spayed. We followed their directions and she still got an infection. We took her back and they stapled her closed this time but we had to pay an additional $220 for her to have the procedure done all over again. I feel awful for my cat having to go through this two times. Then on top of that we have to pay $25 every visit. As we were checking out i heard the lady say that spaying is “free.” Which means i just paid around $400 total for a procedure that should have been free. Avoid this place at all costs.
Negative experience: My aunt took her cat here for a spay and died within 3 hours of leaving this place due to them tearing her trachea during the procedure which they still do not want to take accountability for even though we have provided emergency vet records from where we took her due to her not being able to breathe and started developing swelling and air in her head and back end. Your pets are just a number to them.
Negative experience: They butchered my cat. They tore her trachea so that she slowly suffocated to death. Unfortunately, I can't post a picture of the terrible stitching job on her abdomen, but it was horrific. Please do your research before you choose. I did not do my research because I found them through the City of San Antonio Spay and Neuter Services. I assumed that the city had the animals' best interest in mind, but after reading all these reviews, I don't understand how the city can partner with them. PLEASE STAY AWAY from Pet Shotz!
Negative experience: Cannot I REPEAT CANNOT express this enough. Do not bother considering this place to leave your pet here. Once again adding to the MANY reviews people have left about bringing their pet to be spayed/neutered and during or after the procedure has been done, a healthy pet ends up passing. We were added to that list of passed pets unfortunately. Please read this warning. who cares about saving some $$, take them somewhere BETTER. It’s better to have your pet alive than having tears run down your face dropping on your pets body
Negative experience: My family friend brought in her 4 month old perfectly healthy cat to get spayed. once she was picked up from surgery, her forehead and face started to swell.. which is not normal after a routine spay. she was then rushed to an emergency vet where she then coded in the car on the way there. The doctors there had to perform cpr 3 different rounds. as they were intubating her to give her oxygen, they discovered that her trachea had been RIPPED OPEN from the surgery performed at pet shotz. They are clearly negligent and very rough with their patients. the cat ended up DYING due to NEGLIGENCE on PET SHOTZ. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE IF YOU WANT YOUR FURBABY TO LIVE! And their reaction to us telling them this, they would not give my family the time of day.Their response was this was caused by a rabies shot. a rabies shot does not rip a trachea. PLEASE report them to the board of veterinary. This should have NEVER happened to a healthy 4 month old cat. SHAME ON THEM!! Phones will be added once we have received the final report from the emergency vet.
