We are here to help people live a better, more enriched life by serving the healthcare needs of their pets. Helping people, helping pets is what we do. We intend to accomplish this plan through our network of Veterinary Community Outreaches and Animal Clinics that provide quality veterinary health care that is easily accessible, convenient and affordable to the people of Texas. Various locations available and many payment options. If you can't make it to our Basswood location, Penny Paws conducts weekend mobile clinics we call Veterinary Community Outreach programs, that serve townships throughout Texas. No appointments needed, and walk-ins are welcome! Penny Paws at Basswood Crossing now offers boarding services for your cats and dogs!

Fantastic experience: Both of the people we encountered on our appointment were very kind, quick, and helpful. This was a lot easier than I anticipated. The prices are great and they were kind to my animals and didn’t treat them like an assembly line as I expected. It’s very convenient and again, the prices are so affordable!!! One thing I didn’t expect was they entered my car to give them their shots, it’s not a problem at all, but maybe keep that in mind in case you need to arrange for them a space or for whatever reason you might need to know. For sure recommend, 10 out of 10, I will be using Penny Paws again!

Fantastic experience: My friend brought my kitty Louis to your clinic and you took the time to ask me questions over FaceTime and then after a very thorough exam of Louis you explained everything. Your technician then called me and explained everything that was done and what I needed to do for Louis. EXCELLENT AND EXCEPTIONAL CARE for my kitty Louis and me! Best care for my kitty since I've been in Fort Worth. I also received a follow up phone call the next day to check on Louis that was an unexpected but greatly appreciated extra touch to your clinics 5* care of my Louis!! Fantastic experience: The service was great all around. The person who checked us in for our appointment that day (2/7) was cheerful and greeted us welcomly. The person who trimmed the nails on our pets was beyond amazing! She was such a delight, kind, patient, and considerate. She was probably the best individual we have ever encountered at Penny Paws. Fantastic experience: This place is hands down the best vet I have ever been to. From the front desk to the vets everyone has been kind, helpful, and informative. Dr. Simon has always taken his time to help me understand the best care for my 16 year old chihuahua. It is difficult to find such an incredible staff and I am blessed to have my dogs as patients. Fantastic experience: It was super confusing at the beginning with no order as to what was going on and who they were dealing with. But aside from that, we are grateful they came out into the cold to take care of all of us. The girl that administered the vaccines and trimmed our dog's nails was the sweetest and kept our babies calm the whole time. We have two elderly that she gladly went to the vehicle so they wouldn't have to fight getting out and in again.

Positive experience: I found this vet clinic because it's very close to us but I have mixed feelings. The first appointment was perfect. The employee was sweet and the male vet was really friendly. He took time to exam my pet. We all felt comfortable. My dog was calmer with him. That's why we came back next year. The second visit was a female vet and she didn't have any patience at all. My dog was nervous but never showed aggression. She didn't even do full exam of my dog. The employee took care of my dog was professional and delightful. I saw other vets before until we moved and I had never had issue to refill heart worm medication for my pet. My dog ran out of his heart worm medicine after his first appointment since I only bought half year medication from them from the last visit. One of the front desk girls told me "NO". They can't refill it until next time my pet see the vet but it hadn't been a year yet. It's very confusing. Some employees and vets are really nice but some people work there need to be more professional.

Negative experience: Will give your Mothers sweet 12 year old Mastiff the wrong thyroid medication and then act like they don’t care at all that they made a mistake. Then be rude and unhelpful when you ask them to make it right. Most overpriced terrible customer service half butt vet clinic ever. Negative experience: Front desk customer service is extremely rude unless you’re spending hundreds of dollars. At our last visit, the tech pressured and shamed me when I declined the extra lab work and how we had to reschedule a few times. The Dr did not listen to my needs at all, and it seems all staff are trained to upsell as much as possible at every turn. Will be taking our senior dog elsewhere that actually has compassion and listens to our concerns.

Fantastic experience: They have been responsive and kind. I don't even really care about prices. My animals get the best I can afford. The fact they call and follow-up and check on your fur babies and be straight-up about treatment and prices? Next level. This place has earned my forever business. I won't go to another vet. Like ever. Edit: we took our cat in (you ever put a cat in a car? It's kind of a nightmare). The vet there referred us out when she said she was a little over her skis. I ended up euthanizing him but I appreciate the brutal honesty. Our sweet prince Hades went down peacefully and quietly surrounded by family. The referral out will continue my business with them. There is a level of dignity in death and this company had the wherewithal to say they weren't equipped for that level prognostication. We sent our boy over the Rainbow Bridge under medical supervision at another clinic. I couldn't be more thankful that his suffering is over. I am so thankful for that referral.

Negative experience: I asked for "everything" meaning EVERYTHING my dog could possibly need and they didn't give him an influenza shot. I was so disappointed when I realized. He needs it for boarding so it's an absolute necessity for me. Now I have to go to ANOTHER clinic that's probably going to still be an HOUR AWAY AGAIN for one shot

Negative experience: We had to put our dog of 12 years down today. When we brought him in originally for a wellness check, we were given the options of medication or putting him down (heart failure). He was still perky and wagging his tail, so we opted to bring him home for one more night of family love before we said our goodbyes the next day. We were kind of made to feel guilty about doing that. His health quickly declined and we rushed him back to end his suffering. The staff told us that they were on a lunch break but they could pencil us in for more than 2 hours from then. Our boy was suffering. Only when we said we would just try to find another place that can help us did they scramble and decide to let us be seen. We understand that everyone deserves a lunch break, but this just made the experience all the more unpleasant and made us feel like we bothering them when we were already grieving. The front desk staff could use some training on hospitality and the prices of this hospital could stand to be more competitive.

Fantastic experience: We were greeted as soon as we walked up, As the receptionist discussed the individual puppy plans, they answered our questions and we decided on the one we wanted. Approximately 5 minutes later we were checking out. This is such a great service!

Negative experience: They are liars and scammers. They do treatment without telling you the cost. I would have NEVER approved this treatment if I knew it was that much. They are liars and they knew they were up to shady business because they recorded us secretly. You will see us in small claims court. I cant will until discovery to see this interaction. You also gave him an injection with our consent. I will be takin this to small claims court so we can pull the video and expose the lies

Negative experience: These people will milk you dry. They will do unnecessary test on your dog. I lived in New York for a year, and I took him to so many vets and they ran so many tests and the bill was Over $300 and these people are milking us for a ear infection and a UTI. Oh, and they also killed my dog Cooper. Avoid this place like the plague the only reason we came is cause we’re leaving for Colorado in three days for good. These people are terrible scammers.

Fantastic experience: That where awesome today handled dealing with our Trippy and her ear infection like it was just a normal dog "Trippy is very protective of us" even to the point of biting some homeless guy that got to close when we told him not to. "She went to doggie jail for assault and battery" but the judge was nice and only gave her 10 days. Negative experience: So my wife and I went to this Penny Paws today for the outside clinic I called first to ask when is the puppy to get there first set of shots the lady told me 6 to 8 weeks old like it says on there website online we get there wait in the line for over an hour the ppl who give the shots how old is the puppy I told she will be 8 weeks on Monday she said ok cool no problem then get to the lady who does the check you can't get them until the dog is 8 weeks on Monday so we left I looked online and called them and stuff then they gave me to a Manager they wouldn't give me her name and I asked her she told me in the beginning it's 6 to 8 weeks I told her what the check in lady said and she said it's whatever the Doctor says I told her it wasn't the Doctor who told me that it was the last that checks ppl in and she got mad and started raising her voice which I do not Except at all and was very unprofessional on how she was handling things and basically told me I was wrong no matter if that's what y'all's online stuff says she shouldn't be a manager I've been in management for over 25 yrs and would never speak to my guest like this ever and we have be coming to y'all for yrs I saw the way she talked to other people to like she's better than them someone needs to put that manager in check really quick if and of my employees spoke like that or Managers they would be written up if it happened again they wouldn't be working for me I don't play those kind of games I will not come to this Penny Paws again until she's gone

Negative experience: Very disappointed in recent visit. My dog was hurting and the doctor thought it might be a sprained neck, we specifically called attention to his eye at the visit and he didn’t see anything. Upon inspection when home we noticed the same eye was smaller than the other. Two days later and he now has cherry eye. Waste of money and time on something that could have potentially have been prevented with antibiotics and steroids and now may require surgery. Update- he had a grass awn stuck in his jaw which caused an abscess and swelling leading to cherry eye. Took an eye doctor not at penny paws 30 minutes to figure It out an remove it.

Fantastic experience: Our dog is not a social pup, so I was a bit apprehensive bringing him to get shots in an "open" area for fear he would not do good with other dogs and therefore not do good with the onsite employees. Your team took your time with our dog and ensured he was not stressed. The other clients understood my concern and were so helpful. Overall a great experience. We will definitely be back.

Negative experience: Our dog was diagnosed with diabetes and UTI. She was prescribed antibiotics and insulin. $700+. Went home. Less than 2 weeks later our dog got sick and couldn't eat, vomiting a lot. Lethargic. All the vet said was her kidneys were failing and there wasn't anything we could do but care for her till she past. After talking with the vet about a week later, after our dog had past, the vet said she noted that she told us she recommended going to emergency room. She never told us that. $$300+ for last visit. Aug. 2025

Negative experience: Penny paws is a rip-off. They keep their exam fees low to get you in and then they charge you an outrageous amount for everything else. They charged me $4 75 to tell me my dog had bronchitis and injure her paw while they were doing an x-ray. Now she yelps every time I pick her up. Never going back. Edit: after I called back up there and told them that they injured my dog and she is limping and yelping every time I touch her paw they tried to gaslight me saying that "we did not hurt your dog" implying that my dog hurt herself. The worst vet clinic I've ever been to.

Negative experience: I called this location to ask if they could advise me where to take an injured squirrel. The person who answered was completely unhelpful and simply said, “Oh, we don’t handle this.” I understand they may not deal with injured squirrels directly, but I expected a better response from a place that claims to care for animals!

Negative experience: Went back in January for a growth on my dogs rear. Was told it was most likely benign and nothing to worry about. However today that growth burst and a new doctor said it was an emergency and going to be between 2-3 grand for a surgery. However, they only do surgeries on Tuesdays and for an "emergency" they said tomorrow's date would be great but it could wait a few weeks if needed...I've never known an "emergency" to be able to wait weeks to be addressed. I am frustrated with the inconsistency of information from this clinic...

Fantastic experience: I’ve been using Penny Paws for about five years now and I genuinely love their company and the services they provide. Their weekend inner-city setups are super convenient, and the pricing has always worked well for me on a budget. My only real complaint is with how pricing is handled. Today, the total cost was given after services were completed, not during the initial check-in or discussion. I wasn’t expecting to pay what I did for my cat’s kitten pack, and since I paid cash, it could have been a problem if I hadn’t brought enough. I get that it’s partially on me for not asking upfront, but in all my years of using Penny Paws, I’ve never paid as much as I did today. I’m not sure if their prices have gone up recently, but it did catch me off guard and left me a bit frustrated. Other than that, I still appreciate their services and the convenience they offer.

Negative experience: It went from a good experience to extremely upsetting I can’t believe getting results and asking questions turned into being hung up 3 times. The lady just grazed over telling me something in regards to dental cleanings as if that is something I just $300 wellness exam to have tested him for and then didn’t even call with results had to call. I had genuine conserns about my dog and she’s taking it personally Even the response is undermines my experience which means they are in agreement with the lady actions. I used the internet to understand my result and I will never ever go back to them ever!

Negative experience: They have work hours they don't keep. I arrived with my pets and was told they couldn't vaccinate them because they were already closed and it wasn't closing time yet, along with a thousand excuses. The lack of interest in care is evident. Besides, as a dog mother, I felt rejection toward my dogs. I definitely won't return to this place.

Everyone was exceptionally nice and polite. I've used them for over ten years and I that's why I keep coming back excellent customer service.

Negative experience: For context: I have a 12 year old and 8lbs dog who has diagnosed epilepsy. Starting this past year, she requires a sedated grooming. In chronological order and by visit are all the things that happened during our time there. Feb 2025 Sedated Grooming: - I get a call from clinic the evening before the grooming (grooming is at 8:45AM for drop off) that they need to reschedule her for another week because they were short staffed and someone just walked out. - fast forward 5 MONTHS LATER (July 2025) I schedule for another visit and when they charge me for the visit deposit, they charge me again for a coding error for my visit in Feb 2025 (keep in mind this value was not too big so I didn’t mind BUT this was 5 months later, had they just told me they needed me to pay the remaining balance just a little after my Feb visit, I would have told them to charge the card on file BUT they didn’t even ask me about charging they just did it.) July 2025 Sedated Grooming: - front desk does not have the best customer service both in person and over the phone. ( the best front desk person has blue highlights in her hair but I forgot her name ) - I am sure the vet is nice, however his delivery was not my favorite. It seemed like he did not think my dog’s diagnosis of epilepsy was that serious. BUT he did have great recommendations of food for my dog’s allergy - the vet told my groomer to take less time on my dog than last time. (The first time went PERFECTLY compared to this one). I did not feel comfortable with the fact that this vet told my groomer to practically speed it up. - when I picked up my dog I specifically requested to please zero me and charge me all that I need to be charged so I do not have to worry about it later. The receptionist at the time looked a bit confused, so we had another come to check (I believe she has been working there for some time) both said we were all set. 9 days later, I get a call that my account still requires payment for a separate estimate that was not charged when I left (this amount is over $200!). HOW did we miss this amount of money after I requested to pay the full amount upfront? The front desk who called me sounded like she wanted to get this conversation over with and all she could say was “the person checking you out was new” even after I told her that 2 people looked over my account. And she followed up with a “yeah I don’t know.” When I requested the estimates she proceeded to say “yeah I can email you the estimates you signed.”, maybe this is just me but I am well aware that I signed no need to point it out. I would just like to see what I paid for since you’re charging me over $200 after the fact. I know this is lengthy but customer service was rude, professionalism was no where to be found, organization is nonexistent. I hope it is just this location, as I know there are others. Personally, I will not be returning, but I do hope that others do not experience the same. Dalia the groomer is AMAZING. And many techs are nice as well but I don’t know their names.
