Fantastic experience: We are visiting from out of town and my pup had a pretty good gash between 2 toes. They were able to fit us in. The entire staff I interacted with was polite, informative, and worked well with my Gary. I highly recommend this vet office. They will be my go to should we ever need care when visiting again.

We recently had to take our baby there for end-of-life care, and the entire staff was incredibly compassionate. From the moment we walked in, the front desk staff, technicians, and doctor all showed such genuine kindness and understanding. They gave us the time and space we needed with our fur baby and treated him with so much love and dignity. In one of the hardest moments for our family, their compassion meant everything. Fantastic experience: Dr. Olivares and his crew are ALWAYS amazing. I was able to get in pretty quickly for him to see my dog since she had an abscess reappear from last year. Dr. O. took a sample from the abscess and found that it's the same thing she had last year and we discussed a treatment plan for her. Side note. My dog is a protective barker and everyone at St. Francis is always so patient and accommodating with her shenanigans. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I found this place when it came time to say goodbye to my dog of 14 years. From the first phone call to our final goodbye, this office was professional, kind, and compassionate. Each person that interacted with was so wonderful. They treated our situation, both emotional and financial, with grace. They treated my 9 year old son and I like actual people going through something hard rather than strangers there to pay them, unlike other vets I’ve encountered recently. Fantastic experience: I'm a "snowbird" visiting from Michigan for 6 months. My Service Dog Jack was struggling with allergies (he doesn't have allergies) he suddenly incurred. St. Francis took us in right away as a new patients, gave Jack a thorough exam and determined not only was he experiencing environmental allergies, but had an "angry" ear infection. Dr. O prescribed medications and he's improved 100%. St. Francis Staff are welcoming, friendly, professional, knowledgeable and explained EVERYTHING to me. Thank you for an amazing experience. What an amazing Veterinary Office! Highly recommend their services.

Fantastic experience: Update: Leo was getting scratchy, but they didn’t have an appointment for Friday. I want to say Bri helped me over the phone with temporary allergy fix until we could get in the following week. Super helpful and really caring. We did come back for the cytopoint shot, and everyone was so nice even when Leo was “talking” to the other dogs. Update: Took Leo in for a quick allergy shot. Very quick and easy. He’s on his way to feeling better. Update: Took my Leo in again for another ear infection. Really like his vet, Dr. O. I get the feeling he really cares. Keeping a pet (family member) healthy isn’t cheap. I appreciate the fact that they will talk though the options to keep your fur baby healthy. Took my Leo in for an ear infection. Everyone was really nice and very professional. I was glad I was able to get a same day appointment. Unfortunately the wait was longer than normal.

Our breeder had already started him on his first two vaccines, and today he received his third vaccine along with his rabies shot — so he’s officially good for the year. From the moment we walked in, the entire team made what could have been a stressful milestone feel calm, gentle, and reassuring. I was especially impressed by the kindness, patience, and attentiveness shown to Charlie. The staff handled him with such care, explaining everything clearly and taking time to make sure he felt safe and comfortable. Their knowledge and attention to detail were evident throughout the visit, and I never felt rushed or dismissed as a pet parent. Every staff member I've talked to is very knowledgeable, patient and helpful. This was Munchie's first visit and everything was done highly professional. So glad I've crossed paths with this place. They gave us a first time patient discount, advised me of the blood work special they have this month and even a coupon for Munchie's wet food. I could tell that the staff had an interest in saving me money where possible which I definitely appreciate. Munchie will definitely continue her healthcare here!

Fantastic experience: It was our first visit, and it won’t be our last! Dr Ruiz was so helpful and took good care of our dog and he’s just what we are looking for. He spends time with you and explains things thoroughly. The vet assistants are equally good at what they do and very friendly. If you’re looking for a vet to take care of your little family member, this is the place!

Negative experience: This will be a two part review. I should have reviewed last year when I came in. In 2024 I brought my dogs for their annual shots but 1 is deadly allergic to a shot and the office and back was more chaotic then usual. At this time I've been coming to Dr Musquiz for many years and spent thousands of $ here. I'm unsure what happened when they gave my sensitive dog her shots but she had a very bad allergic reaction (the exact same as she had when given the one shot they were not supposed to give). Not sure if they mixed shots up as they do both dogs in 1 appointment but originally I got told I would get my dog back after the tech gives her the Vax (later I found out the tech shouldn't have been the one giving this shot). I received a few reasons what happened that day but no one was quite sure really what happened but they gave me some meds and I took her too another vet to verify the most likely thing is they mixed up the shots and put the labels on the right records. They failed to follow there normal procedures that day and my dog could have lost her life. This was the only time I've had an issue here and was very disappointed. If you have a sensitive case you may second guess here and also ask for them to give their shots in the room to allow you to verify (didn't know this was an option).

I’m getting laid off from my job on Dec 16th and I needed some services done for my chihuahua they helped me out tremendously I appreciate them so much . They always come through for me . Such a fantastic place to take your pets .

Fantastic experience: 5 Stars Our girl Summer was recently diagnosed with cancer, and while this is never the kind of news any pet owner wants to hear, Annette and Dr. Gallardo were exceptional. They were professional, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable. They took the time to walk us through every option and detail, and they patiently answered all of our questions. We never felt rushed or pressured. I’m very in tune with my dog’s behavior, and it was clear that Summer felt comfortable and safe with her new techs and veterinarian. That alone speaks volumes. We are extremely thankful for their care and support during such a difficult time. Highly recommend.

Positive experience: Clinician and Veterinarian were extremely kind and direct. The expense for a blood test for a minor fever and potential infection were and are ridiculous, $605. 5 stars for the customer service experience but 1 star for the expense, split the difference.

Fantastic experience: I've decided to switch all my pets to this clinic. The staff is always very friendly. The techs and even the veterinarians never seem rushed to get me through the door (which hasnt been thr case with veterinarians at other places). They have answered all my questions and have helped to ease my mind with issues my fur babies have had. They have always taken the time to discuss options within my budget. I've been able to get appointments within a day, and trust them with my pets.

Positive experience: August 29th I did business with this"vet". I am on a fixed income with no credit cards or savings. My 12 yr old pitbull mix had mobility issues, lumps under the skin, digestive issues, black skin eruptions, and occasional confusion with aggression towards my roommate's grandchildren. So I saved my money starting in June and had enough to pay for end of life care On the 29th I did what I felt was the best thing to do for my situation and my pet. I tried to explain what was going on with Faith but, was interrupted by the "vet tech" whom decided my dog had allergies and she can give Faith monthly injections. Apparently, she is made of money, I am not. I pay my rent being a live in care taker. My decision might not be the choice she would have made but, you'll never know cause you weren't going to listen to me. Yes it was obvious I was being judged. A couple weeks later I get a "sympathy card" in the mail. It went on about how sorry they were regarding Faith 's "mercy killing". That's what was written on the card. So now I get to feel guilty as well as sad because I did what I thought was best for my dog. Don't judge people until you have been in their shoes.

Fantastic experience: Went in for a second opinion for my senior dog and was given different options on how to treat her condition. Liked that we weren't pushed to go the expensive way.

Fantastic experience: I just moved to San Antonio last year and was lucky enough to find Dr. Gallardo at St. Francis. One of my fur babies passed away unexpectedly. She did her best to keep me informed and to console me. Everyone there that day was very nice. I also take my other fur baby there. Very friendly staff and Dr.

Fantastic experience: I have 2 English Mastiffs. My adult mastiff gets very nervous when it comes to getting weighed. He acts like he’s getting on a tight rope. The other one is a puppy. They were so patient with both of them. I really appreciate that. We were there mainly for vaccinations.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Ruiz has cared for my animals for years and years. I recently moved further away from the clinic, tried another Vet Clinic closer to my new residence, and ended up returning to St Francis to bring my cat back to Dr Ruiz. He's worth the drive based on the extraordinary care he provides to animals, and their humans. Recently he saw my elderly cat who was not eating food or drinking water. As always, he has the best interest of the animal and quality of life is always a priority. My fur baby is recovering and starting to eat again. Dr. Ruiz is a very wise, compassionate Veterinary Doctor, and he clearly loves animals. He's also a pretty awesome human being. Thanks, Dr. Ruiz and St Francis. God bless you all!

Negative experience: I have used St Francis for over 6-7 years! I love Dr. Ruiz he’s so amazing and took care of my Maltipoo for her entire life and when I got another puppy I brought her here. Unfortunately I am not working and the cost for vet services are up there so I have used low cost services and you would think they would be more understanding and still be helpful when I’m needing records, prescriptions for my dogs medication knowing how much money I HAVE spent there. Nope! I have a hard time getting stuff I need for outside services and today I was made to feel like if I’m not using them they aren’t going to help me which led me to write this review. Like I said Dr. Ruiz is so great and when I went back to working I would have come back to them because he’s so amazing but when front end staff does stuff like this I do not want my hard earned money to go to a place who hires people who don’t care about peoples circumstances. Why spend $4-500 when you can spend $30-50 and before it was because of the great service and loyalty but when a company isn’t willing to help in a time of difficulty it just shows true colors. They said this would be the last prescription they could give me without using them and said it was be ready. My husband went on his lunch break 2 hrs later, after me emailing (Roxy- pretty sure she’s management of some sort) timeframe of pick up and it wasn’t ready. The doctors are great here but not so sure about the rest of the staff anymore, or at least when you can’t afford going to them only. Very disappointing after spending thousands of dollars throughout they years.

Fantastic experience: Hello, i came in for a nail trim for my dog and had Annette help me out. She was very good and seemed very good with animals. My dog is usually wild at the vets appointments but seemed to love Annette. She did an awesome job and was very nice!

Fantastic experience: Hello, I took my 2 cats in to St. Francis a couple weeks ago and I wanted to mention that Dr. cooper and her technician Annette were very empathetic and professional. I’m new here in town so it’s been hard to find good medical help especially with the pets.

Fantastic experience: It is always an excellent visit. The office is very well organized and managed. Staff is courteous, caring, and extremely efficient. As to the doctors, Dr. Ruiz who is our vet - I cannot say enough good things about him. He is caring, kind, definitely an expert in his field - I am relieved we found such an excellent group of doctors and office personnel - I won't go anywhere else - I wish they managed a ER hospital - we could certainly use them.

Negative experience: I hope you are reading this post because you need to know how they treat your babies and take you out of the loop when thing change from what you discuss with them. I took my dogs in for a teeth cleaning and because l have a dog with bad anxiety l ask when we made the appointment if we could make her his first surgery for the day and the vet said yes. That was the only way l was going to let her have the cleaning. l would pic her up after two because that is the earliest you can pic them up after the proseddger. Well l also had another dog that has no problems too getting her teeth done too. Well l received a call saying that molly the one with no problems some how a door got shut on her tail and the doctor took her back first to care for the tail and since he had her back there they just did her teeth first. Now the spot on her tail was superficial as l checked out at home so why couldn't a tech do that while my poor girl is sitting in a kennel with her anxiety and found out they gave her a sedative with out my approval. Now my molly girl just bit me because l was checking her tail out because she was chewing on it and has been just laying around since she got home on Tuesday and this is day three. Now the vet has released us because l was very upset for all that happen and yes l mean very upset because l felt that they took the care out of my hands and didn't let me in on the changes or ask about if it was OK to give Paisley the sedative wich l try not to use drug unless need. Things weren't done the way we set it up for my girl with the problem and what happen to the other dog in their care. I called today and they won't see her back to check up on the tail when she is in pain and bit me. They told me to take her somewhere else and won't pay for the bill when they did it. Why should l have to incur another bill for what they did to her.

Positive experience: My scheduled appointment was only a little slow in getting into a room with my cat. The wait in that exam room was a bit longer. The tech was friendly and knowledgeable and took ear swabs to check out. The Veterinarian did a pretty thorough exam and confirmed ear infection. My main complaint is the rate of price increases. The $79 comprehensive visit is high for an obvious ear infection. The cytology charge $52 seems high, but what really was surprising was the little bottle of ear drops at $52.15! Hope it lasts for the 7 days treatment! Veterinarian costs have risen more than general inflation and I think this is because of "corporations" owning multiple practices and raising prices. I worry about being able to afford care for my aging fur baby.

Fantastic experience: Dr Oliveras is wonderful! He saved Little Rambos life at 5 weeks old. A little stray with a broken leg. Dr O always puts the pets first and provides great advice. Truly an amazing dr.

Fantastic experience: We’ve been with St. Francis of Assisi for over over 20 years with all our fur family. We’ve seen happy times and sad times when they crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge. The staff has been amazing and very supportive and helpful with our fur family. Dr. Ruiz has been there for just about all our fur family and is a great veterinarian as well as the veterinarians. Fantastic experience: Have a very sick kitty. An un-named vet hospital said he wasn't critical and sent us home. We went to st Francis and found out how I'll ourcat really was. Sent us home with everything we need to try to save him. So far he's doing good! At least this vet as honest about it, that my cat might not make it, but if the cat and I want to fight. We got that chance

He went over my dog's x-rays with us in depth, explaining what was going on with her body and what our treatment options are for now and for the future. And the treatment he suggested worked REALLY WELL and REALLY FAST. My dog is now walking and running like she used to, and I am so happy. I can't thank Dr. Ruiz enough, both for being so decent to us in talking about her but also in offering several treatment options that we can use to manage her condition now and in the future. Negative experience: Came here when I thought my dog was pregnant. The vet attending was Cambrey Gallardo. They did an ultrasound and found four sacks. That was on June 4. July 2, they did an X-ray and only found 1. She came into the room as if we mistreat our dog. Asking us how’s home. We were in disbelief. We asked questions and she didn’t know what to say. She’s uneducated and in the wrong field. Long story short, a few days later we ended up taking our dog to Town and Country, they did X-rays and an ultrasound and discovered that the last puppy in her was deceased. She asked us if they did an ultrasound. We said no, she said they should have. The puppy inside her had been dead for days inside her. My dog was starting to smell. She got an infection and needed an emergency C-section. She’s negligent at her job. My dog was close to being in shock. I could have lost her. Don’t go here!!!!! Front staff is friendly. She NEEDS to be FIRED!!!!!! I feel I should get some type of REFUND!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: I had my cat of 14 yrs old who get really sick..took "Guss" to st.francis vet..the appointment was fast cause of his condition.they took him back..didn't look good..so they took real good loving care of my Guss for two days trying everything to help my Guss..but he was to sick so he did eventually pass..they were all so kind and understanding of how I was feeling..they comfort me and that was nice! so at Francis vet..is a good place to take your pet cause of the attention they give your pet..it is definitely my place for my other 2 cats..

Fantastic experience: 07/03/25 Although Vinny doesn’t like the ride in for his injection, he quickly forgets that when he is met with the friendly folks up front and the technical team in back. Always excited to see him and love on him. Seems not to mind the needle once it comes. He has OA and appreciate the treatment that gives him a quality of life that I thought was behind him. Resumed normal behavior . Thank you Dr Ruiz and your team.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Olivares is simply the best. He saved my 11 year old pup when our original vet of 5+ years said she wouldn’t survive a surgery. Took her to Dr. O for a second opinion and was amazed at how professional the staff was and how calm and caring he was. I cannot thank him and the team enough for caring for and saving my baby girl.

Although we’ve been coming to St. Francis for a while now, this was our first experience with Dr. Ruiz — and it was a great one. He was calm, professional, and took the time to make sure Jaxson was comfortable and cared for. He explained everything clearly and didn’t rush through the appointment, which I really appreciated as a pet parent. You can tell he has a genuine passion for what he does. Fantastic experience: Having used many veterinarians over the last 40 years, I can say that St. Francis is the best, hands-down. Dr. Lara truly cares about the animals that she treats and everything she does in her practice reflects this. She has treated our fur family competently and with incredible compassion. She has never failed to review our pets’ records prior to examining them as is the habit of most other veterinary offices. I have never felt like my pets are just items to maximize financial profit as I have at every veterinary office I have used prior to discovering St. Francis.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I took our family dog of 12 years to Dr Olivares he was so compassionate and understanding explaining our options to treat Jack-Jacks diagnosis of Mast Cell Lymphoma. He did an awesome job removing the tumor and it gave Jack-Jack 3 more months with us. We treated him like a King and gave him everything he wanted to eat! When we returned 3 months later to lay him to rest I wanted Dr Olivares to be the Vet to help us put him to sleep but, that would have been selfish of us being that he too had just lost his family pet. We were still very lucky to have a New Vet who was so gentle and stayed with us. She allowed the entire family to hold Jack-Jack as she administered the medication. Although it was so heartbreaking we found some comfort that Jack was not alone when his heart stopped beating. Even my daughter Meagan and employee of St Francis was able to be with us and, bring Jack-Jacks buddies to be with him one last time. We are forever Blessed, Grateful and Thankful to have found such a loving, caring and compassionate Veterinary Hospital. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful experience at sr France’s . The staff was very nice and the area was nice and clean and decorated cute! Dr cooper saw our dog Lilly for a bump on her back and she was very patient and answered all our questions . Unfortunately Lilly will be having surgery for the bump . But I am sure she is in safe hands.

Negative experience: Tried to make an appointment. Had come years ago under a different phone number. Man that answers refused to use the old number and insisted on using my current phone number. Then proceeds to "update" the account he sees with my current phone number even though I have no affiliation with the account and the current info is nothing I know of. I get you do this day in and day out, but use some critical thinking and listen to the caller.

Fantastic experience: I brought two of my cats in for seperate issues. The techs and doctor were great handling both of them and very informative about what they thought was going on and the options they could provide for treatment. I've been looking for a good clinic and I really like this one!

Fantastic experience: I just have to touch on how amazing this office is. I’m still a new time cat dad for 2 kitties so sometimes I get a little anxious with vet appointments for them but both times I have come here everyone is so kind, patient, and welcoming. First time I came here the tech Nathan was so nice to my girl Kiki. Not only that but he was so helpful. Cut to in walking in Dr. Cooper who was SO sweet and informative and really took the time to educate and answer all the million questions I had. That experience was a 10/10. Now yesterday I took my second kitty Beau for his checkup, and he’s still newly adopted but he’s come a long way. Poor thing was so scared with me trying to put him in the crate it took over an hour. Finally I was able to get him in and realized I was going to be late for his checkup. I called to let them know and they were so kind about it. Literally the last appointment on a Friday and I’m late I felt so bad and would’ve totally understood if they couldn’t see me. Not only did Dr. Ruiz see me but they took such amazing care of my poor scared boy Beau and I was not rushed AT ALL. Literally Beau jumping on walls they were so gentle with him during the exam and helpful. Also Roxanne was a phenomenal tech. So sweet to him and also made me feel like everything was gonna be fine. Dr. Ruiz was so thorough and helpful with my questions, even making suggestions for his next trip to the vet a little easier. Again experience was a 10/10. Oh my gosh and the front desk staff! Cathie is always so kind over the phone when I talk with her and she calls for appointment confirmations and also so quick with texts. And Meagan is just phenomenal. So welcoming walking in and was so extremely kind to me even with running late. Being late on a Friday I still feel terrible but the whole office staff didn’t even bat an eye. This is my office of choice for my kitties for the rest of their days for sure!

Fantastic experience: Since moving to San Antonio, Dr. Musquiz has been our vet for our puppies to include my sweet Chloe. He has been nothing but supportive, patient, and friendly as my little girl started to near the end. Thank you so much for all your help, advice, and dedication in giving Chloe the most wonderful and comfortable life possible! He genuinely cares about the patients and their families. We’ll continue to see him for our other two pets.

Fantastic experience: We had just moved to the area and were looking to establish care for our pet. We chose St. Francis Veterinary Hospital because of its convenience and the positive reviews we read. Upon our visit, I was very impressed with the staff; they scheduled an appointment at my convenience, and the pricing was very reasonable compared to past Veterinary clinics. What put the points on the board for me was the Veterinarian. My pet had surgery (not at St. Francis, elsewhere, out of state) a few years ago to repair a Bilateral Perineal Hernia, and without getting into details, the surgery was NOT 100 percent effective, which caused my pet to drip urine occasionally. The Veterinarian I saw at St. Francis recommended a medication for my pet to help with the issue, and surprisingly, it is working in just a few days, which is great for my pet and me (no clean-ups) I'm surprised that the two veterinarians we saw previously did not prescribe or recommend this medication. Moreover, during my conversation with the Veterinarian at St. Francis, he explained in detail the possible root causes of my pet's issue, which resulted from the ineffective surgery. He provided me with options that I could afford and expectations. I Highly, recommend St. Francis Veterinary Hospital to everyone.
