Experiencia fantástica: Unfortunately, I had to euthanize my dog today, which was extremely rough... despite how horrible that was, the staff there couldn't have been better.... Those people are godsends. I was overwhelmed by the compassion they displayed for me and my family, the efficiency at which they performed, and all of the kind words and gestures they provided. God bless the staff there, as I couldn't have asked for better people to guide me through this rough experience. I am eternally grateful.

Experiencia fantástica: For me, the secretaries are very sweet and dedicated to their job, the nurses are always supporting in everything, the doctors are spectacular, but for me, Dr. Widay and Dr. Davis are those doctors that you want to take care of you, since they became doctors by studying books, taking notes, doing their practices in person, and going to look for information in person, not like many doctors today who are trained based on the internet, I call them Google doctors. My two puppies are in the best hands. Many thanks to Monroe Road Animal Hospital. I am eternally very grateful to everyone there.

Experiencia fantástica: I have seen several different vets at this clinic and like them all. Everyone here loves pets and it is obvious. Fortunately my pets have not had to have extensive medical treatment, but I trust the vets' opinions here and rely on their judgment.

Experiencia negativa: A place I did not get professional help. Waited for almost an hour for my cat to be brought back to me. They make sure they charge me as soon as I get there. Served 7 customers that came after me. I don't wish to ever go back there. Vet refused to come and talk to me. The front counter cashier brought the cat and did not bring home care instructions or knew what needed to be done. Another worker came with a sheet of instructions after I ask to see the vet.

Experiencia negativa: I brought my cat, Franks, to Monroe Animal Hospital and unfortunately had a very upsetting experience. Franks is an anxious cat and gets defensive when he’s scared (hissing, etc.). At his previous vet in Austin, TX, the staff always handled him with patience, compassion, and sedation when needed — and we never had issues. At Monroe, it was clear the staff wasn’t equipped to handle him the same way. When I came to pick him up, they told me they couldn’t get him into a crate and asked me to try. When I couldn’t, one tech (with long hair) scoffed at me and told another tech to just throw him into a hard crate they had nearby. Another staff member mentioned they were severely understaffed and that she didn’t even work there — she was just helping from another building. Everything felt rushed and chaotic. The vet I saw even apologized, saying she was so understaffed she couldn’t gather her thoughts. I was also charged incorrectly twice (though the receptionist did call to fix it). Still, the lack of organization was obvious. But the hardest part was how unkind they were to my cat. From what I witnessed when I was in the back, I cannot imagine how he was treated when I wasn’t there. I cried the whole way home, feeling like I had failed him by letting a place like this “care” for him. I will not be returning and would never recommend this clinic. Pets deserve compassion, patience, and proper care — and sadly, I did not see that here.

Experiencia fantástica: We rescued another micro mini long haired Dachshund, Sweet little Holly Ruth. For the past 40 years we have trusted Dr. Davis, and team for exams and treatments of our pets. Upon her initial exam Dr. Davis informed us that little Holly Ruth had Heart ❤️ Worms. We have never had a dog with this dreadful illness. She was soooo worried about us and Holly, she gave us comfort and assurance that Holly would be fine after a long and carefully planned treatment program. After approximately four months we are pleased to announce that Dr. Davis and team cured Holly Ruth 100% and our little 9 pound three year old rescued long-haired dachshund will have a long and healthy life. Dr. Davis and team are wonderful. Thank You to the entire Team !!

Experiencia fantástica: The BEST! Dr Widday should win an award for empathy and compassion. I had made the decision to euthanize my geriatric dog, who had become completely blind and deaf & was experiencing severe anxiety, some signs of dementia, & other issues. Physiologically ,---a small dog at barely age 14, could MAYBE have had a little more time. But I made the painful decision that his quality of life--MOST of things he enjoyed, was gone. I wanted him to die with some dignity while he still had some functions, but it was an agonizing decision that filled me with guilt and uncertainty. Dr Widday put him on a soft, fluffy blanket on my lap and walked me through the entire procedure -which was very quick. He died peacefully in my arms where he felt safe and warm and they allowed me to sit in the room alone with him for several minutes afterwards to hold and cuddle him. She was extremely SUPPORTIVE & I will be forever grateful to her for that.

Experiencia fantástica: I started going to Monroe Road Animal hospital after taking my leopard gecko who had parastates to another vet who claimed they knew exotics, but I am knowledgeable enough to know they were in the back googling and giving me out of date stuff, so doing research on other vets I came across Monroe Road Animal Hospital and fell in love immediately with Dr. Russell Breckwoldt. He is extremely knowledgeable and you can tell he cares about each animal like they are his own. We got my leopard gecko feeling much better since bringing her to him. In total I have taken 2 leopard geckos, corn snake, Greek tortoise to see him and plan on bringing my ball python and sand boa to him soon for wellness checks. I highly recommend this animal hospital and Dr Breckwoldt for exotics! He is amazing! I just wish it was closer to me so I didn't have to drive 45minutes to get there, but having a fantastic vet makes the drive worth it when I know my animals are being cared for properly. Thanks so much!

Experiencia fantástica: My little family of me, my fiancé, and our dog (Ernie) are new to the Charlotte area. We were devastated when we found from the ern regency vet Ernie would need a splenectomy that we couldn’t afford. I sent an email asking MRAH if they could and they responded very quick with a quote and expectations! We can’t thank MRAH enough for giving us more time with our best friend. He’s post-op 3 weeks now and I noticed he wasn’t acting himself the other day so I called MRAH and was able to get a same day appointment. Sadly our buddy had a reaction to the stitches that caused an abscess, but we are on antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. He’s already feeling better and I can’t thank MRAH enough for being there for our little man!!

Experiencia fantástica: This place is amazing. The vets are knowledgeable, the techs are caring and friendly and they really show they care. They have gone out of their way to ensure the best care for our pets - even looking up info on a chemo drug when another vet recommended it for my pup and I was unsure. No charge for that. The only downside is that they love animals so much that they often have a few to share. 3 of our 4 pets came from them. But that is our weakness, not theirs. :)

Experiencia fantástica: I had such a great experience at Monroe Road Animal Hospital! My 2-year-old son accidentally stepped on my bearded dragon’s tail, and the tip broke. I was so worried, but when I called, they got me in within 45 minutes. The girls at the front desk were incredibly kind and welcoming, and Dr. Russ was amazing—so friendly, accommodating, and gentle with my bearded dragon. He patched up her tail and even trimmed her nails during the visit. The entire visit cost less than $80! I’m so impressed with their care and efficiency. Highly recommend this place to anyone with exotic pets!

Dr. Russ is patient and takes his time to explain everything before and after the procedures and personally calls to check in. I even got a personal call from him when I called with some behavioral questions with no appointment. Top notch clinic!

Experiencia negativa: I don't know who you have taking calls in boarding but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to give information about what you charge for a 7 lb hairless cat even if I am not sure about the breed. Of the 6 places I called about boarding yours was the only place that couldn't give me any decent information. Your attendant could hardly carry on a coherent conversation... Smh

Experiencia fantástica: I've used Monroe Road Animal Hospital for 4 years and even though I've moved 15 minutes farther away, they are still way worth driving for. I get easy, prompt communication on the phone and website and the staff is super friendly. All the vets know their stuff, are happy to answer questions and don't push extra services that aren't absolutely needed. I get in and out of the office quickly on appointment days and their prices are very reasonable. They've taken terrific care of all my cats and I can't recommend them highly enough!

Experiencia negativa: I was in the vet practice at 12:00. pm on Friday. Needed to get prescriptions for my dog. Waited about 10 minutes and my dog was on a leash. She was trying to go back in the exam area. Dr Davis opened the door and was very rude to me . I will be going to another vet . Don't waste time going there. Experiencia fantástica: I've only visited twice having just moved to Charlotte, but I have found everyone to be attentive and great listeners. Everyone so obviously loves animals - my dog assumes they are all there to pet him - and the follow up call to check on him is a great touch! I'd strongly recommend MRAH to anyone looking for a new vet or dissatisfied with their current service.

Experiencia negativa: MRAH was my primary vet for my dog and cat for many years—the majority of both their lives, in fact—and although they are a beloved local vet, my overall experience was not great and I cannot recommend them to anyone with a special needs pet. My cherished cat developed hyperthyroidism around age 10 while she was a patient here, and although Dr. Widay was great with my fractious girl and very kind, I learned more about treatment protocols from the compounding pharmacy that I found after having terrible experiences with the pharmacies MRAH recommends. We had regular issues with inappropriate meds and related conditions, but MRAH at some point became a revolving door of vets and nobody seemed to be checking the cat's history, just assessing her day of appointment, so things were often missed. We eventually switched to a cats-only practice and found them to be far more educated about hyperT, but by then she was declining. My dog is a sweet pit bull who is nervous at the vet, and since MRAH uses outdated restraint protocols, vet visits were always terrifying for him, heavy on restraint including cramming his face into a muzzle that was too small for an anal gland expression, and one doctor seemed downright afraid of him despite his consistently sweet demeanor. And again, a revolving door of doctors meant that nobody knew him or his medical history any time we visited. We have since switched to a force-free practice and he now loves going to see his friends at the vet, and sees the same doctor every time who is very familiar with him and his needs. Additionally, MRAH feels like an "old school" vet which seems oddly charming at first—paper files, that vet's office smell, etc.—but now leaves me wondering what medical advancements my pets may have missed out on all those years of their lives. Maybe we would have had more time together if I had switched sooner to a more modern practice.

Experiencia negativa: I've come to this vet multiple times as I have 4 dogs and they've gotten all of their vaccines, prevention, anxiety medication, etc. through MRAH while we've had them, however, they are charging for pre vaccination exams when they aren't actually doing any type of exam. I have asked multiple times what a pre vaccination exam consists of and have been told it's the checking of vitals beforehand to ensure the dog is healthy enough for the vaccines. I have been present at every appointment and have never seen anyone check vitals on our dogs. They come into the room, ask if we have any concerns to which, we typically do not have then they administer the vaccines and we leave so I'm not sure why I've been charged for an exam that didn't happen. When I bring all of the dogs together, no exam on any of them, yet I'm charged a pre vaccination exam for each one of them. They have no consistent answer as to why I have to pay other than, they have to be seen by a doctor for certain vaccines, yet, not all the dogs received the specific vaccine and we still get charged. In my opinion, they are money hungry and unprofessional and have unfortunately lost our business as well as multiple family members that also take their pets to MRAH.

Experiencia negativa: 6 years ago I would have recommended this place to anyone, but today I took my cat in, got antibiotics, blood work and urine done. I drive home only to find out they did not mix her medicine…… also I arrived at 8:40 this morning on 1/25/2024, it was a drop off, they took me to a back room to wait for a vet tech to come review my cat’s chart with me, I get in the room…. 10 minutes goes by no one came in and all you hear is loud laughter on going from ladies who work here cracking up in the back of the building. So I poke my head out to tell the lady who was cleaning room one, I was done and she said someone would come soon……. 10 minutes goes on by…… no one, I finally left out of there by 9:10……. Crazy to wait that long to just drop off. When I called about the medicine not being mixed they said they would make it right…… how where you going to do that? All they did was apologize…… i did not go to school to do a job someone in the office was suppose to do before they handed me that medicine. Had to come back during rush hour. They said I could mix it at home but I was not comfortable with that. Y’all have got to own up to your mistakes. Sadly I will need to look for a new vet for my cat’s care. Little mistakes can add up to big ones and can be dangerous

The vet and her technician were also awesome and friendly, answering all of my questions with respect and their full attention. I left feeling very confident in my pet's health. The coffee is also a nice touch - thanks for offering that!

Experiencia negativa: Friendly staff, but I do not recommend. Your money is better spent down the street at Animal Medical Hospital & 24 Urgent Care, where there's a large team. These folks both misdiagnosed my dog years ago and then wanted to waste money on treatments that didn't work on him previously. I could go into great detail, but this is my review, and sadly, the point is now moot.

Experiencia fantástica: I was able to get a same day appointment for my dog as I had an urgent concern. This was my pup’s first visit as we have recently moved to CLT. All of the staff were great especially Laurie and Dr Widay. I was surprised how well my 12 year old did with a new vet. My pup was much calmer than expected as it was a comfortable, calm visit including an injection for allergies. I could not have been more pleased with the experience.

Experiencia negativa: I was horrified today to discover that the owner and vet Davis performs unnecessary declawing on cats. KNOWN as animal abuse and she argues it isn’t. She clearly needs to update her knowledge on animals and research considering studies have proven declawing negatively impacts cats lives and causes them great pain no matter how it is done. Declawing is known as abuse and cruelty by Peta, the ASPCA, and the Humane Society of America. The heinous act is banned or illegal in many states and countries around the world. I could never trust such an immoral vet near my cats. I liked the vet there that my animals saw but cannot ethically spend money at a place knowing the owner abuses cats for profit. I highly discourage any pet owner against animal abuse to choose a more ethical veterinary practice.

After calling so many places Monroe road animal hospital was able to take me in the same day I called. When I arrived the ladies up front were wonderful very polite and friendly, we were attended quick and doctor Russell was very professional and really knows what he’s doing when it comes to pets. My cat had symptoms of short breath and loss of appetite and doctor Russell made sure to perform a radiography along with blood work due to the shortness of breath and fever my cat had and was quick and detailed to let me know the possible causes for the symptoms. I also liked that they provide an estimate before performing any service and even help you out with prices so you don’t just waste your money on a service that’s not necessary. Doctor Russell made sure to send me to a different Animal hospital due to the urgency he saw in my cats results, and made it so easy where they would perform more in depth tests to let me know what my cat had. Unfortunately my visit was very unexpected my cat ended up passing away yesterday due to a hernia that was blocking his lung from being able to breathe, but will be forever thankful with him for his effort and time and care he showed my cat yesterday. Anybody that needs a doctor that genuinely cares for your pets needs and not your money come to Monroe road animal hospital.

Experiencia fantástica: One of our dogs had been acting strange for a couple of months and we couldn’t figure out what was going on. He just had TPLO surgery, so at first we assumed he was still recovering from that (he was showing signs of lethargy and his balance was off, among other weird things like a left ear and eye infection, losing hair on his tail, etc.). His surgeon cleared him from his surgery and just thought he might be suffering from allergies, so we treated as such. Nothing was working, so a friend of mine recommended Dr. Davis. We saw her yesterday and had a great experience. She already called me today with some answers as to what was going on. We are starting to treat him for hypothyroidism as she continues to run some more tests. I’m finally feeling hopeful that we will get our playful dog back! I’d recommend MRAH over and over already!

Experiencia fantástica: I was referred to MRAH by a friend and I couldn't be happier with my decision to switch vets. Their staff always goes above and beyond for my fur babies and you can tell they genuinely care. Because I have had some same-day urgent appointments, I've seen multiple vets and they all are similar: caring, knowledgeable and friendly. The vet techs and administrative staff are all extremely kind as well. My poor 14 y/o experienced vestibular disorder and went potty in her bed and wasn't stable enough to stand or walk, so while I was holding her she cleaned up the entire mess for me without hesitation. It is usually easy to get in same-day for emergencies and they care about your pups as much as you do. They also don't try to nickel and dime you and in my opinion, have very good pricing. I couldn't recommend this place more.

Experiencia fantástica: We love the care our boys receive from Monroe Animal Hospital! The staff truly cares about their patients. Our boys went in for vaccines and they called us the next day just to check up on them and see how they were doing. Great customer care and service!

Experiencia fantástica: Dr Russ Breckwoldt is an amazing reptile vet and I recommend him to everyone who will listen! He takes a personal interest in each pet he sees and treats. Even if it is a longer drive, this practice is worth it!

Experiencia fantástica: Everyone was so great. I really felt like everyone cared about us. One thing I really loved is that I was able to fill out any necessary paperwork in the exam room. Often it is hard to juggle filling out paperwork while hold a pet carrier , leash , etc. Doing it in the room gave us freedom to not worry about our pet while we filled out paperwork. It sounds like something so small but it really impressed us. I also was impressed on how knowledgeable to physician was. He has reptiles of his own so I felt he was very relatable to know about our questions and concerns. I don’t know whom the front desk lady’s name was but she was so warm, friendly, and bubbly. I loved her enthusiasm and kindness.

You just know that you're in an atmosphere where everyone truly cares and loves what they do. I've never had a bad experience. I've used them for both of our huskies since moving here in 2012. Thanks for all that you guys do!

Experiencia negativa: I had always heard (and known since we went here for over a year) that the prices here were much higher... but until recently never had an issue. Our puppy was dropped off for a normal 'drop off' to get a few shots and they mixed up our dog with another at the clinic and shaved our puppies stomach loaded her up with pain pills and then gave her an ultra sound because her name matched the dogs name who was actually scheduled for this... I wasnt called when this happened they only told me when i picked her up and said "yeah shes gonna be loopy, sorry..." We are switching vets moving forward - just wish there would have been more done or said when this happened....

Experiencia negativa: I don’t recommend this place at all unless you have very basic needs. Most of the employees here are rude, confrontational and appear to not like their job. This place isn’t the cleanest nor are the employees which is a huge red flag. The doctors don’t appear to be confident nor as educated in their field. The communication and comprehension skills are definitely lacking as well. As a pet owner who loves their baby, I expect my baby to be treated properly and not rushed or mishandled. I expect kindness, good bedside manners and healthy dialogue between myself and the employees. Be very careful with this place. Thankfully I found another place that met all my needs. I don’t expect perfection. Just do right by my pet and do the best you can overall. That’s all I ask for.
